Winnie said to let you know she is "Safe but homless" she stayed with freinds last night and will see what today brings. (my apologies the text came last night but I had gone to bed... will post again if she texts again)

Still thinking of everyone in Christchurch... so very very sad and the effects will be felt for years. Stay strong all you Cantabrians

He is absolutely gorgeous ...love the socks....and certainly looks at home and I never would have picked him for a living rough cat.Well Done......

He's in good condition I think because we have been feeding him IIams food for the last 4 months or so, and his coat has a gloss from being stroked so much over the last week.... he really is beautiful..... so glad he trusts us now and has a home.

Thoughts with you in ChCh -I have 2 spare beds in Wgtn if you need a break but will be away off and on during next 10 days. Charlieb knows how tto contact me when home. Trouble is that you are likely to be out of the frying pan and into the fire!. Winnie, was the casino OK.

Hi everyone,
thankyou for your love and concern. We are in a horrendous situation here.
I have lost my home and everything in it ... but I have my life and am so thankful for that. I only left my home a couple of mins before the quake struck & was 100m away on the street, engulfed in a cloud of dust as buildings colapsed around me.
Just terrifying.
I am at Mum's house now and just taking life hour by hour at the moment.

Oh Winnie if there is anything we can do please post here. I am going to Nelson for the weekend but will be back next week and I know how lucky my family has been so if you need transport.... anything do post here please. I have one son who has to be away for a few days but intends to be doing volunteer work next week anyway. They have both been shovelling silt today . I keep thinking about Calista - has anyone heard from her. Feel so useless as this city I have lived in all my life is suffering so much. Those who do please pray for Christchurch.

I have been thinking alot about Calista & have searched for her phone number with no luck and have emailed her, will let you know as soon as hear anything. The last I heard from Charlie tonight was the camping toilet was working well and she would be ok now... as they had wine... nice to think she still has her humour.

Hi there, I just tried to see if there was any record of Calista on the red cross google search. There is no other record of anyone searching for Calista, ... so that would be good news, yeah? Lord, I hope so. I don't want to start a search record, as I don't have too many of her details, but others closer to her who are still waiting to hear, what do you think? Hugs to all our chch lufflies, and all the TM family xxxx

I looked at that site as well and Charlie gave me her suburb.... I even rang someone from white pages but not her or a relative.

I just saw from her feedback that she brought something from you Pam... can you check her address and maybe email me... or if you are not comfortable handing it over maybe look up the white pages yourself for her phone number. I have her email but not her address,

I share your concern for any of our fellow Christchurch MBers but can I respectfully remind you that as we have found with some of our local friends, communication can indeed be very difficult if not impossible e.g. we have friends in the Wainoni area who have no power or water, and no phone land-line contact, so if calista is in a similar area it could be that phone contact could be impossible even if she has a cellphone which may by now have a flat battery and with no power, she most likely wouldn't be able to charge the battery.
Take care everyone. :-))

I so hope Calista is safe.. I've just received an email from Dot - Smiley-Cherub - she's safe thankfully:

'Let's just say it has been a very turbulent few days! Was at work when it happened and it was just pandemonium. Terrible trying to get out 3 floor up with the roof threatening to fall down around you and windows popping out. Just as I made it on to the street 2 buildings across the street caved in and caused a huge cloud of dust, then the liquefaction started so we were told to get out of the city asap. It was just so surreal. Still in a bit of shock I think!'

Huge to go through that.. and thankful she is safe..

Thinking of you all there..

Good morning all,
I managed to get a little sleep last night ... but boy do I look like crap! I probably don't smell much better ... 2 days without a shower or toilet are taking their toll lol!
Hopefully the supermarket around the corner from Mum's will be open this morning & we can go buy some water so we can have a wash.
Thanks again for your love and support, Rae xxx
ps. I also hope my fellow Chch boardies are ok but as Shirley has said - our city is a huge mess and many people will have no means of communication yet. Just keep praying.

We here in Halswell are very fortunate in that we have power, water and telephone but as close as Hoon Hay which is a neighbouring suburb there are people that do not have power. Cashmere is even closer to the centre of the city and I believe that that is where 2halls lives so chances are that she won't have any power and won't be able to let us know how things are for her. Having seen the shopping area of Merivale on TV this morning, it would be my thought that katalin2 doesn't have power either.
Take care everyone and on behalf of all the Christchurch MBers, thanks so much for the caring concern that everyone elsewhere is showing for us here in and around Christchurch. :-))

A couple of us still have flights booked in a few month's time - under consideration right now!
But I'll be down south next week with a flight booked back from Chch. I'm hoping to fly out of Nelson instead!
We are still waiting to hear from a couple of our Chch members - Timturtle is one of them. Calista isn't one of our members, so I can't help you all out with that. Hope she's okay.
Edited to say timturtle is okay.
