You young things need to be educated about how it really is!!LOL. I think there is something I could take but not keen to spend that much money to be honest. I keep telling myself it'll go away soon, like my cough.Haha. This thread will never be like the others because none of us have the time to be nasty. We just get on and deal with stuff! Besides I'm a long way from being perfect and too busy changing my own bad habits to get on other people's cases. Maybe if I keep working on myself I will be an even better nana than I am a mother! Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

You are not wrong grizzly, I am sure every mother wants to be a better nana. I have miss 2 this weekend, she is such a good wee girl but if you give her an inch she has so much attitude. Some times it is so hard not to laugh at some of the things she tries.

Hi Smartgirl. Had a fab time in Hamilton. Arrived there at 4 yesterday. Had a lovely suprize dinner with Mum and my sisters as well as my only brother. Had brunch with them all this morning and then raced off to Spotlight. Ha ha. Got the material for M. Good price to. Visited E who is getting worse and that was a miserable 2 hours. I tried but could not make her forget her troubles and laugh, no matter how many times I tried. Next I visited P. She is my friend who got bitten by the ruddy Stonefish. She had me rolling with laughter and yet there we were, her with her swollen and still infected foot and me with my throbbing legs and foot. She is such a tonic. We always have a humerous time together no matter what.

Grizzly she is my friend who is moving down South. Hubbie is retiring in March. You will like her. She is a real character. Won some skin products while I was away. Happy about that. Was starting to get to the bottom of the barrels so to speak. Know what you mean about the money spending. I have to pay $250 to get a small lump removed by my GP. I am most relunctant to spend that. Last time I had all the little moles, etc removed it cost a b fortune, hurt like hell and they all tested clear. If I were in another city like Rotorua for example I could get it done at the hospital for free. Auckland has a third of the N Z's Population living here so you rarely get to see a Specialist unless you pay or are terminal. What a Health System? It can done wait until after Christmas.

Hi there barbrose, I got a 4" by 4"
Quilt grid Square today at Spotlight to make it easier to do the little quilt. I might then progress to a proper one. Ha ha. It is a Birch which was $10 but the other sort were twice the price. It is funny but the prices of things can vary from shop to shop. Hamilton had better Material specials than Wairau Park this week. I have the Sewing machine out. Ha ha.

bll you little baby you. I remember when I was a sweet young thing listening to the older Lol women talking, thinking hell, That is not nice to look forward to. Now I am one of those Women and life is different yes but I have a freedom that is earn't with age and experience. At lest that is what my friends and I tell each other. Here endeth the lesson. Ha ha.

Makerealbany, who are you making your 'little' quilt for? I daren't start any new projects yet. I would really like to finish my cross stitch before Christmas then I can work on the very first one I started 3 years ago of kittens in an old potting shed. I sidetracked to do the ones of the grandsons. I haven't been able to start any sewing projects from the patterns I bought from TM, and have only had time to cut out another dressing gown so far for the shop. However the 8ply knitting patterns I am changing to 4ply are working out really well to increase my range of prem outfits in the shop. The Spotlight Mall down here is providing 3 opportunities for the 'Patch" to have stalls before Christmas. First one was Saturday. Very kind of them and they were very thoughtful towards us on the day. Of course I could only help set up before racing home to 17 month grandson who was staying the day. Mr 2 1/2 was with us on Sunday.

Hi grandma grizzly. I very seldom have my grandchildren( the babies that is) on the weekends. That is Nana's time. You cannot work hard all week and then babysit at the weekends girl. You need your free time too. Yes that was nice of Spotlight. I am making a little quilt for Miss M's Doll's crib. I am then going to make one for my future great grandchild and after I have made all the mistakes on those ones I want to make one for myself. Ha ha. Ambitious aye. I am starting tonight no matter what happens. I am on a mission as my grand daughter says. Gave all my sisters 2 dishcloths each for Christmas and they loved them. One of the girls is using hers as her own face washers. They all seemed to prefer the ladybug pattern in plain cotton. Peaches and Creme had out some fab Christmas colours so I stocked up. More stashing. What fun!!!!!1

I am with you on weekends, I think I have done 3 all year and then it only one. Makereal I hope you are thinking about a full size one for your self or are you going to play dolls with the wee girls.

M: with your connections to R.Vegas, do you have any to the Vercoes? I was so shocked when I heard this morning. He spoke as an old boy at a leavers' dinner @ Rotorua Boys when I was working there. Makes me angry.

It's dangerous for me to spend too much time on Trade Me - have done a bit of buying over the last week. Oh well, two of them have been for Christmas gifts which is great but I have also indulged in my love of Christmas fabrics ... my stash did not need adding to at all LOL

Did you ladies not see the recent tv programme on hoarders!!!LOL.
I guess thats the beauty of moving around a bit and being on TM. My cupboards get cleaned out regularly. I've just about worked through my wool stash which I am making myself do, before buying more. It was such a lovely evening yesterday we went for a 2km walk around the river which is at the end of our street. Very rare event as I would rather pick up needles than sneakers. Haha.

You cheeky devil smartgirl. Yes I will make myself a full size one. M and I were playing with stuff today though. Ha ha.

Grizzly I banked today for those auctions. Thanks. I am working my way through my wool stash and am not buying any for a long while. I might get some more cotton but that is it. I am running out of space and I cannot knit fast enough.

We went to the second Twilight movie last night in a group of 6. Lots of fun watching the young women swooning over the lead actors. Remember the days?! Both DIL and daughter cried throughout. Have any of you read "The Lovely Bones" ? An excellent read and now I see the movie coming out soon. Will have to go to that. I have also read My Sisters Keeper but have heard they changed the ending of the movie. How dare they!! It's been ages since we have been to the movies so often.

Have you read any other Jodi Piccoult books? I've read Perfect Match, Change of Heart and Vanishing Act. I really enjoy the social issues this writer involves in her books.
So hot down here this week. Went to the beach and ate icecream last night.

grizzly4 - 2009-11-26 08:35:00

No I haven't read any others grizzly. My daughters do have a lot of her books though. I read a lot of Sci Fi and Fantasy. Love Brian Herbert, Anderson,Goodkind,Douglas, Eddings, Randall, etc But also read any historical based books. I really enjoyed J Auels series and the Gear stories. Enjoy a M walters book every so often. Like to scream out with Anne Rice or James Herbert. Curling up with a good book in my lazyboy is bliss. Ha ha. Every night no matter how late or how tired I am I wind down by reading even if it is only a few pages but most times it is not.Lol. Yes it is hot enough for icecream hereas well.

It is a lovely day here. I am off to get a much needed haircut at last. Just finished my last report of the year. Fingers crossed. We have so many people ill it has been hard trying to finalize things grizzly. I am sure you will know what I mean

Still trying to sort out this computer. Took me 2 gos to load on some auctions to sell donated things to the shop. Paying out for the new parts this morning so fingers crossed.

I did not even get my haircut. My phone kept ringing all darn morning. I was miffed but important calls not just chit chat. Oh well no rest for the wicked teehee. Just watched Australian Idol. My dressmaking scissors are really blunt because someone was cutting carpet with them. Noooo it was not Me. I have to take them to be sharpened now. My internet has been dropping in and out again. Rang Extra to give them a blast. Ho Ho.

Smartgirl, how are you going with the Laptop thing? I tried when you first sent it days ago but could not send my message to them. Have you tried it again since.

I have been having the same problem with being dumped off the internet. Like your haircut, computer parts were purchased but not installed in computer. I watched Masterchef 'cos I always watch it while tea is cooking. I was so pleased Julie won and I loved her description of how her cookbook is going to be. Looking forward to seeing it in print. Will definitely buy it when it comes out.

Wow, imagine me being online on a Saturday evening!! No family today as daughter is too hung over from her Christmas 'do' last night and son and his family are out tonight. I have had time to do a bit more Xmas shopping and some other tasks that were waiting for tomorrow. Now they are done we are free to go for a blissful drive tomorrow and maybe do some cooking of new recipes later on. I feel very relaxed!!

grizzly4 - 2009-11-28 19:22:00
2279

Good for you grizzly. I sprayed all the decks with Wet and Forget this morning. Then got into the garden. For all my hard slog I received two blisters but the gardens are starting to look better. It was like a jungle out there I kid you not!!!! Everything was overgrown. The Daisies were a mess overtaking some Roses even. My son cleaned out his fab gardens so A and M and I went around this afternoon for a cuppa and brought home lots of grasses for the banks. I got into the garden to plant some and wore myself out. Ha ha. It is drizzling up here so that is great for the garden and the decks. Hope tomorrow is the same.

makerealbany - 2009-11-28 23:04:00
2280

Have to do some of that myself!! Instead of lawn and paths at this place we have a pocket lawn and shingle everywhere else. I hate it! Gets on the lawn, all the cats in the neighbourhood think it's kitty litter and I am forever clearing weeds! B-----y stupid idea of landlords! My Mum & Dad gave me a Gardenways voucher for my birthday so I might go off today and find something lovely for the deck.

grizzly4 - 2009-11-29 09:57:00
2281

Oh You are so right grizzly. I hate shingle too. We have some in front of the deck of the house and all the bl--dy weeds grow in it AND YES THE STRAY CATS THINK IT IS KITTY LITTER. I have to spray that tomorrow. It is messy and pees me off. The pots all need repotting. That is the trouble with heaps of pots but I lose things in the gardens or someone else claims them so I always keep favourites in pots expiecially after the last digger experiment.!!!! I have a memory like an elephant. HA HA. I have just mopped my kitchen floor so that I can get on with my garden early in the morning.

makerealbany - 2009-11-29 21:13:00
2282

Smartgirl where are you? hope your computer is okay. Done your xmas shopping yet? I still have things to go but we have all the usuals. The turkey and ham are in the freezer. the Decorations are nearly all up. Some of the presents are even wrapped. Ho Ho. Just trying to finish the last bit of knitting and sewing at nights. Having the spare time in the days in the yard. So much to do not enough energy. HA HA.

makerealbany - 2009-11-29 21:17:00

Look at the time. I had a bad night last night and tonight I just cannot get to sleep. Finished knitting about 1am, tried reading but still awake, did the snail walk in my pys and gumboots with the torch. Dozens of the little bug ---s hit the dust. I have just had another drink, whilst browsing the net. I bought some buttermilk culture off TM. I am now going to make some jogurt, down a couple of painkillers and watch a movie.

makerealbany - 2009-11-30 02:41:00
2284

I wonder what time you finally went to sleep? Boy we got stuff done with no family here over the weekend.PLeased we did the shingle yesterday as it is very cold and wet here today. Also got our tree and decorations up so that will be a lovely surprise for the boys when they come next. Also did some baking and tried a new recipe for tea. A chicken and mushroom pie with a sauce of cream cheese and mustard. Very yummy.

It was 4am then I was up at 7. Had a good day today. My group had their meeting today in Rodo and I was still discussing the report at 9 this morning. I did not drive down to it. I went Xmas Shopping with my daughter and granddaughter again. We had lunch in town. I came home reasted and then repotted 12 planters. I enjoyed the day very much. We haven't got our tree yet grizzly. They start bringing them to the hall tomorrow. That pie sounds nice which just reminded me I had cooked Rhubarb and left it in the Microwave an hour ago. Just paid mt TMS on line. It is so much easier do not know why I fought it so long. Ha ha. It was a reasonable day here today weatherwise and all.

My fingers are slipping off the keys. Left hand is quite stiff and I have plasters on my blisters on the right hand. I tried 3 different lots of plasters and they came off everytime I washed. Got some Band Aid tough strips from Kmart fror $3.57 and they are great. I can wash my hands and they stay on. They are fabric. Had to get a new watch battery today $16 but with a 2 year guarantee so not bad. It is not like smartgirl to be so quiet!!!! Hope she is okay. I will ring her tomorrow if she does not log in.

Hi makereal, it is unlike me but I have been busy and tired then my friends mum died so I have spent some time with her. Was just off to bed but had to log in first.

It must have been great for your friend, smartgirl, to have you for support. Makeralbany, your poor hands!! I made Rhubarb muffins on Sunday for our lunches this week. I put so much fruit in they are a greeny colour!!Haha! I bought a fake tree last year 'cos the real ones aren't available down here till the middle of December. Too long to wait for me even though they smell delicious.

grizzly4 - 2009-12-01 09:07:00
2289

Hi smartgirl look after yourself girl. I am so great at giving advice but never listen to it myself. Ha ha. The littlies do help tire us out. M can run faster than me now.!!!! What a great pal you are spending time with your friend. How sad just before Christmas.

makerealbany - 2009-12-01 23:40:00
2290

Now grizzly what a good idea. My rhubarb is just growing madly at the moment. In fact tonight I had a big bowl with home made johurt tonight. I love making muffins but never thought to try rhubarb ones. Must have a go. Yes the real trees smell nice. Half of my kids have real the other half have the artificial ones. There are some really pretty ones available nowdays. The darn fingers on my left hand are calcifying and rather stiff whilst the ones on the right hand are blistered and bruised. I saw a lady looking at my hands yesterday and felt a bit weird. It is a bit painful when M grabs me by the hand to drag me outside as well. Lol. They will be fine in a few days.

makerealbany - 2009-12-01 23:50:00

I am repeating myself so I must be tired ha ha. Daughter says I am getting deaf as well. Wants me to get my hearing tested. SIL told her I was yelling down the phone at him. I do put the TV or radio up. The other girls must be flat out as well. It is nearly Christmas after all.

makerealbany - 2009-12-01 23:54:00

Rain, rain go away, come back another day!! Where is Summer? My garden is loving the wet and so are the ducks but have you seen our temperatures? 12 today for goodness sake! I'm taking the women's group today- we are making reindeer terracotta pots and one of the women is doing a chocolate making session so the chocs can go in the pots! If I remember I will photograph my pot tonight to show you. Heehee.

Hiya. Yep, flat out. Hubby away with school trip this week so doing single mum thing, with daughter's ballet recital on Sunday and everything else. Wet AND hot today. Absolutely torrential right on 3 just in time to pick up kids. Spag and franks tonight.

Yeh I can relate to that grizzly. I have a day off tomorrow. Hurrah. Just wrapped 4 pressies and my list is shorter thank heavens. Haircut tomorrow no matter what. I am starting to feel like a hairy beast. Starting to look like one too just quietly. Lol.

Yay Friday again. 2 yr old L stayed Wednesday night and was so excited by the tree being all done up and the decorations etc. Made all the work seem very worthwhile. 17 month old B is staying Saturday night for the first time away from home over night. Not sure how much sleep we'll get as he tends to wake apparently. Tis will be my daughter and her partner's first 'date' since being parents.

Yes Little M was a real joy to watch as we put up the tree and decorated it tonight. She was really impressed with the lovely young man that delivered it and helped us get it up. He sold us a stand for the tree and it works a treat. M was looking at all the pine needles all over the place and said" Mess Mum". Ah she is learning well that girl. HA HA. She mostly enjoyed throwing the icicles onto the tree. So there is a sort of clump of them at her height. J who is 6 was bought up for the weekend by his 21 yr old cousin. We are having a Christmas dinner tomorrow for K who is moving to Christchurch on Christmas Eve. He is going to Uni down there next year. He has an Aunt down there as well.

Wow it is so warm after that cold spell yesterday. I am pleased. Barbis are not fun in lousy weather. I am wearing shorts. Ha long ones of course. Lol. A has taken the littlies to the park. M is so excited having her cousin to boss around. Just like her Mum that girl. I have done all the washing, cleaned up and am still in my pys. I am about to have a shower at last. I see no point in showering and then cleaning up. I need another shower after all that work. tee hee. Yeah I am being lazy. Hope the weather is as nice for you gils. Have a great day.
