2204 | I would love to have a garden of veges etc but limited budget at the moment. Need to sell up more here on trade me. Anyway back at uni in a weeks time. making some tangy tuna fishcakes for the kids. Will post pics when I am done. I can use leftovers for them for dinner in burger buns tomorrow and the roast veges as we are having roast veges in a salad for my lunch. Love the hair dye job. I want to cut mine short again and go bright red! jcprotea - 2011-02-20 15:12:00 |
2205 | Earthangel I have recently planted golden celebration an English rose...beautiful Golden yellow...flowering galore. Is among the David Austin roses on the first link juliewn has posted.Ladies mantle grows well amongst and around their feet....as well as fragrant Lavenders.Of course the little Johnny Jump ups sprinkled amongst is a delight too.Tete tete daffs nice for your bulb patch, delicate and not so likely to blow over as taller ones. jbsouthland - 2011-02-20 17:23:00 |

2209 | Hostas for sure...but I love hydrangeas , now back in favour ...( there are lovely Lacecap ones and very oldfashioned ones, look abit like the Victorian velvet fabric flower brooches you sometimes see faded in little antique shops... 'popcorn' is the common name as the flowers are curled like popcorn and so sweet. To keep flowers Blue you can add Alum to the soil or buy a boxed powder esp from Garden shop.Pink is encouraged by adding lime.I also plant lots of Chatham Island Forget me Nots they should do well on your south side....poke primulas under and around all.wish I lived closer as I'd be more help with cuttings etc. jbsouthland - 2011-02-21 07:52:00 |
2210 | I'm a cottage gardener with abit of formal thrown in....I have planted Buxus hedging as well as Mexican Orange blossom and Lonicera hedging various places.Have Mex OB growing to hide the front of the wooden deck and in front of them have planted a row of buxus....to be kept trimmed as a lower hedge. All new few months old garden here ...roll on next Summer as will be more established.I find feeding Sheep pellets all around makes everything GROW !Oh and lots of Water something we have plentiful down here ....lol.Do you have anywhere for some sweetpeas to grow...most worthwhile and always easy picking for inside or for friends !! jbsouthland - 2011-02-21 07:59:00 |
2211 | jbsouthland wrote: Ah yes sweet peas,I forgot about them, yes I have a nice place,I can grow them up the fence where I was going to grow Lavender, but I can grow drawf ones. earthangel4 - 2011-02-21 08:31:00 |

2219 | http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/42/161191042_full.jp Morning lovely ladies & fine gentleman... I would like to introduce a new member to our family "Max" Its taken 3 months to win him over.. then when we finally won his trust it was like flicking a switch.... he is the most affectionate wee thing that follows us everywhere. The next thing is to train him to the cat flap (as we have a magnetic one) then my wish of seeing him warm this winter will be a reality. He has lived stray under a neighbours shed for years... spitting at everyone that came close... Now he is a different creature. Will catch up soon... not much has happened... just been incredibly busy with life.. and so very tired... think life has caught up on me... what with christmas, then the cruise, then my heatlh glitch then Dad's "Adventure"... Jan & Feb were full on... so am looking after myself and family and "consolidating" Will catch up soon.. take care JB toadfish - 2011-02-22 07:13:00 |
2220 | He is absolutely gorgeous ...love the socks....and certainly looks at home and I never would have picked him for a living rough cat.Well Done...... jbsouthland - 2011-02-22 08:01:00 |
2221 | .....and those magnificent whiskers !!! jbsouthland - 2011-02-22 08:02:00 |
2222 | Max looks a bit like my Georgie Porgy fat'n'fluffy (a stray named after GeorgeBush because she invaded whether she was wanted or not), I hope you get as much fun from Max as I've had from Georgie. Edited by calista at 8:32 am, Tue 22 Feb calista - 2011-02-22 08:25:00 |

2224 | aww I love Cats! I am so a cat person! I had a cat called Feijoa once and two called Jet and Rocket. Here are my tuna cakes from the other day: http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/45/161200945_full.jp (excuse the funny looking roast veges with them) and then I had left over veges so I used them in a quick salad. The hummus in green container is my pumpkin hummus, same recipe just added 1/4 cup of roast pumpkin. http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/36/161200836_full.jp jcprotea - 2011-02-22 10:39:00 |

2229 | It's pretty bad here. Networks all jammed so can't check on people. I'd like to get into my nieces who haven't heard from their mother and are really shaken but streets round suburbs gridlocked. Damage looks terrible in town although we have only a cracked ceiling and work looked Ok before we were evacuated. Thoughts are with Charlieb2, Winnie who are closer to town and Calista who especially must be grieving for our beautiful Cathedral. Deaths look almost inevitable - so much worse than last time. greerg - 2011-02-22 14:10:00 |
2230 | My thoughts are with you all, will let you know if I here from charlie or winnie toadfish - 2011-02-22 14:24:00 |

2240 | Whew EA you can breath again and thanks I missed that about everyone out. of the Cathedral. A chimney more or less seems unimportant now doesn't it? Seemed much more important last time. greerg - 2011-02-22 15:47:00 |

2242 | It does Elliehen. In some ways the media are probably making it worse for people who don't know exactly where their families are. Have only just found that my cousin is safe because of phone network issues and the relief is huge. greerg - 2011-02-22 16:41:00 |

Thanks for your concern Julie. "Hi everyone, DH and I are ok as are all our immediate neighbours, but as for checking on friends across the city.....it's pretty much impossible with land lines overloaded and it appears that some cellphone services are affected as well. No more damage of significance to our already EQC demolition-recommended house. 245sam - 2011-02-22 20:08:00 |
