kiwimade, I had my mammogram a few weeks ago and it's not something you get excited about I must admit, and sometimes it hurts more than others depending on the person in charge of the "vice" but it's always a relief to get that letter a couple of weeks later saying that no evidence of breast cancer has been found. Enjoy your day in the classroom.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning everyone. Have a fab day at work Kiwimade.

Apparently there is a new machine for mammograms, not in every area yet tho.. Had mine last year so Im fine for another year yet.

I reckon the Cat has taken ownership of your tunic too Kuaka.. You wouldn't want to deprive the cat now would you lol

Ive taken the car up for a warrant.. So fingers crossed. first one since we brought it. Funny tho I don't feel the fear like normal.

Lovely day out there. Going to be a total right off tomorrow tho

Have a good day all

hahahaha Kuaka... I have at the mo what I call a frilly eye.. I have a frilly bit blanking a part of my sight, so it looked like panties to me too . The middle of the words are all squiggly lol

popeye333 - 2013-09-03 18:03:00
2160

Well I know things are getting more and more expensive all the time but I did a double take at someone saving up to buy some panties! I'm pleased to hear that's not the case.

Cat has now decided that a scarf I wore the other day and left on the back of my chair would be a good place to doss down. Looks like even she has given up on the tunic.

Morning all - looks like you have all been busy over the past few weeks, hope all the "ills" are well on the mend again and everyone is survivi.ng winter.
Well I'm back in the cold - had a great time in Tonga and yes managed to get some knitting done as well. It is the right time of year to go there as the days are around 24o and the nights cool enough for a blanket or two so can sleep well. Took a pile of prem beanies and the hospital was delighted to get them I use my left overs for them. But also managed to sit on my new interchangeables and broke 2 of them :( which fortunately managed to fix with some superglue. Now knitting baby things for neices baby due in October, it's a girl which makes choosing patterns easier.
Have a good day all

morning ladies and welcome back jayemtoo :). What a buggar about your needles lol.
Have to 'get the girls out' this afternoon but will spend the morning catching up with washing etc. Might even get out into the garden for a bit too weather permitting - MrK made a start yesterday which is great!
I'm off to play with the Furry One so I can be left alone to get on with things :)
Happy knitting :)

Freezing here this morning - so much for spring, it's colder than it was in winter! Going to walk down to "knit and natter" later this morning if the rain hasn't started by then. Might have to take something to sit on so my bum doesn't freeze to the seat - I find the seats very cold to sit on and I keep forgetting to take something with me. A cushion would be perfect but I'll try taking a small towel or something. Anything to put a barrier between my bum and the cold seat. Also have to start on something easy so I don't have to use my brain too much while I'm sitting chatting and trying to knit or crochet.

Hope it warms up soon. Have a super day everyone.

KUAKA why not wear 2 pairs of knickers. I am lucky don't feel the cold. wear summer clothes all year round. I want to knit that 10 stitch rug

carolev - 2013-09-04 12:34:00
2168

Yeah I want to try that 10 st rug too.. Looks like fun and something to do without heaps of concentration..
But I might just do a cushion cover in the colours of my blanket..

Have contacted the school about getting them to take the mattress and wall unit away for the gala day, they are full over there already so it wont be till the end of October before it leaves... Which is a bummer but it means I have more time to save up for my Pantries.. And giving them to the school pleases MrP .
guess Ill just have to carry the machines out again if I want to sew.

well that was quick and not as bad as I thought - the girls are now safely tucked back in after having their pics taken lol. I need to shower - this no deo bit is a bit rank lol.

Morning - it's a very dull, cold and wet day here, going out later to help keep a 7yr old who can't go to school as has a bad cold happy. Her Grandmother who is the main carer has to go to work and poor granddad is running out of ideas for games as she convalesces.
Will take some knitting as she doesn't need full time amusing.
Keep warm and knitting

2173

seven year olds are great! They can read (usually lol) and can generally amuse themselves for a bit. But it must be boring for her, poor thing.
I feel sorry for the ladies too popeye, must be unbearable at times doing their job.
Finished the front and back of the wee rugby jersey and will do the collar and plaquets today to I can stitch them all together. Then do the sleeves and it will be finished. The rugby booties will be fun, might do the sole red, the sides and top black and yellow laces and sprigs.
Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone... sure is a dull icky looking day out there.

And Im braving it.. Have to go spend money too lol... Going to nip over to Pukekohe for a t-stick, Dick smiths have them cheap and chips..

Then will get the groceries and need a lot of the basic stuff today.

The jumper sounds like fun Kiwimade... cant wait to see the pics.

Im over half way up one sleeve so not a lot to go.

Have a good day everyone

Absolutely freezing here today only 9 deg in our lounge when I got up this morning. Have the heat pump on and the woodfire trying to warm the place up. I managed to scavange some kindling from the section on Tuesday and we are almost out of firewood, but it has to warm up soon - doesn't it? I really don't want to buy more firewood now, but plan to stock up well before next winter. Don't think I have to go out today, so might do some tidying up around the house and then settle in for some knitting. No further progress on the wretched tunic. I'm still in two minds whether to finish it or unpick it.

Happy knitting everyone. It looks pretty bleak outside.

kuaka - 2013-09-05 09:03:00
2176

power went off earlier and took out most of our district this morning so I sat and knitted the sleeve to this wee rugby jumper. It is bitterly cold outside, that sou'wester has a real bite to it. Even the Furry One won't go outside.
I heard the lady who designs tea cosies and has written a couple of books on the radio today, she's going to be at the Craft Show in Hamilton.
Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2013-09-05 13:23:00
2177

Im all set now if the power goes off again..

Went and got a T-Stick for mobile internet. Was going to get one from Dick Smiths cos they had them for $19.. then you had to buy a sim for $5.

They didn't have any when I got there so I thought well Im not spending another $10 in petrol to go back and get one when they finally come in, cos the guy said the two they were getting on Friday were already sold.

So I went to Warehouse Stationery, basically next door. And got one for $29 which included the sim.. And the bonus of 2gb preloaded.. So it worked out cheaper in the long run.
And even this not too technical girl managed to get it installed.. So now if the power goes off for 10 hours at a time again I can check tm and do banking etc.
Groceries took $83 off me lol got two frozen chooks for $12 so that was good... Ohh and stopped and got 2 huge leeks from fruit shop 89 cents each, the pretty skinny looking things in new world were $1-99 each lol.

Going to make a huge pot of soup tomorrow. Have heaps of ham bones in the freezer. not much meat on them but there will be plenty of flavour.. And will make a bit of room in the freezer

Finished one sleeve and started the next. must hunt out some buttons..

Have a good day everyone and stay warm

Morning everyone..
A tad to far for me Carole. yeah it would be nice to have someone to go with.. But Im sure once you get there with like minded people you'll end up talking to others along the way
Money is tight here this week too... mainly cos I want to go to the book fair here tomorrow. So Im trying to be good..
HAve a sale to post this morning..

Have got a potfull of ham bones on the stove for a big soup. The last of the year. Theres two with meat and the others are naked apart from what MrP couldn't cut off lol..

I have the second sleeve to do then I can sew this wee jumper up.

Have a good day all

Morning all
The soup sounds like it will be delicious Popeye - it's been very cold here the past few days but nice and sunny today although not very warm.
Miss 7 is recovering from her cold/flu or whatever she has had but still coughs too much for school so I will go and get her soon and she can come here for today for a change. She was easy to look after yesterday as rather tired still so we watched quite a bit of tv and I knitted.
Have started little boleros for nieces 2 girls am using patterns I got from Derimores and one the sizes seem far too big - I measured the back of the 24" one and it was 15" across so would have been massive for a 4 year old have checked with other patterns and it had a lot more stitches on than any other pattern which I know would fit her so have started again and adapting another pattern. The little one has turned out very nicely though.
Hope you can get someone to go with you Carole - I'm too far from Hamilton to join you sorry.
Have a good day all

Cold but sunny here, not a cloud in the sky. Sister phoned from the UK last night and said they were forecasting 30 degrees for Friday then rain for Saturday. I didn't really want to hear about the 30 degs.

Carole I would have come with you if I was still living in Hamilton. If it's at Claudelands, I used to live just round the corner in Enderley Ave. We could have got together for lunch or morning/afternoon tea at my place too. Bit too far for me now.

Really will have to pull finger and do some housework today, and check my "funeral" clothes still fit as I have a funeral to attend tomorrow.

Happy knitting everyone, and keep warm.

Yup were a bit poor till Tuesday too lol... My book money is separate tho.. I would use it if I had to but tits my play money lol

morning :) It's overcast and bleak here compared to yesterday! Goooo jayemtoo lol, luckily we can dump our weeds into our paddock and when they dry out a bit, burn them. Will miss that when the paddock sells.
Just have the collar and plaquets to do for this wee rugby jersey and then the booties. I did something similar popeye, changed needles at the ribbing but only changed one needle so ended up knitting half a sleeve with odd needles lol. Unpicked it and did it again, luckily a baby's sleeve doesn't take long to knit.
Happy knitting :)

Cold here again this morning, but the sun is out, there are a few clouds above the hills in the far distance but otherwise a clear blue sky. A perfect day for a funeral. The last one I went to was on Christmas Eve and it was outside and it was pouring with rain. So I might do a bit of housework before I go and then sit and relax outside when I get home, that is if the sun is still shining. I'm busy "extending" a crocheted granny square blanket at the moment. It's nowhere near big enough.

kuaka - 2013-09-07 09:01:00
2190

Its miserable here now.. grey lightly raining and cold

Went to a garage sale on the way to the book fair and was blown away to find 2 cushion inners to match the size of what I had already which is larger than normal cushions.. So now I have four. I will make covers to match my patchwork knitted blanket. For the grand sum of 80 cents for the pair lol. Cos they needed change lol

Then went to the bookfair... Ohhh what fun I love them.

Went in to see if they had Kalinda a book Im after. Nothing so went upstairs to the kids and got heaps of Enid Blyton, one of them is 65 years old.

Hmmm that posted before I was finished lol.

Then went downstairs and got about 8 knitting books including 3 stitch guides. One I think I have but ill list it if I have.. I call them stitch bibles really.
And then I got a heap of Alison Holst and Robyn Martin books. The ones that are as wide as a normal book but only half the height. My collection is growing but Im only letting it fill one little cubby hole.
Oopps $89 later lol..

But it only happens once a year and I use my sale money to spend.

Im really sore at the mo. Have run out of fish oil and am surprised how my body is missing it.. Roll on Payday lol

Have somehow torn the bicep muscle in my right arm now, it could have been carrying the 8 kilo fat cat in the shopping bag yesterday. So now both arms are stuffed Grrrr.

Have a nice afternoon everyone

Oh Carolev what a disappointment about the craft fair. I am a bit reluctant to go as I feel a little annoyed at having to pay extra (entrance fee) for the privilege of buying stuff. Have been to a couple in the past and never really found anything I was desperately wanting.

Been a glorious day here so got the sheets washed and beautifully dry - love the smell of sun dried sheets. Then to the dump and gave the car a jolly good clean both inside and out so looking good again.

Now going to relax with knitting am starting the fronts for miss 4s bolero, hope I can juggle the pattern so it fits ok.

Been a beautiful day here, went to a funeral (the mother of a friend - was surprised to see she was a month younger than me - she has been sick for a long time and looked much older). It was very emotional and the service went on for almost an hour and a half. One old lady further along the pew from me, slumped and was lifted onto a chair and carried out. Not sure if she had fallen asleep, fainted or worse. Felt very drained when I came home. Exhausted actually. Went for a walk along the beach and then had an early tea. Going to have an early night tonight and make sure I watch the yacht racing from San Francisco - can we beat the Americans?

That is expensive for the privilege to go shopping isn't it..

I was absolutely exhausted yesterday afternoon... Couldn't get warm either, so I think it was a Warfarin coldie too, so I went to bed for an hour, which revived me. Hate them but they don't happen often.

Still sore today but Im not planning on doing much. I will play with my books tho and get them onto the cases in my room.
I didn't knit yesterday either.. so will get to that later , it will make me rest that way.

Kuaka, some funerals really take it out of you eh, physically and emotionally even if you don't think it did at the time. Good idea to go for a walk on the beach to clear your head

MrP is watching the boats in bed. so my morning routine will be out of whack..

Have a good day everyone

it is expensive to get into (and park) at these craft fairs, and by the time you buy a cuppa coffee etc your money is well and truely gone. And that's without buying any crafts.
I'm watching the boat racing too... omggg they are fast! But Gooooo Team NZ lol. *waves silver fern flag left over from the Rugby World Cup*
Have to unpick the placquets I stitched onto the wee jersey yesterday, am not happy with the way they are sitting. Will give me an 'excuse' to watch the race lol.
Happy knitting :)

Yay, we have two on the board, Oracle are still on minus 2. Let's hope we can win enough races to bring the cup back - they don't deserve to keep it after being found guilty of cheating.

Still extending my granny square blanket and only have a few rows to do to complete a baby singlet for B4B, and THAT tunic is still staring at me. Maybe today I will try it on and see if it's worth trying to complete - maybe!

Weather is overcast and looks like rain but it's not as cold as it has been. Doesn't look like gardening weather (or housework weather come to that) so might have to sit and crochet today.

Have a great day everyone.
