Dear friend went to "The King's Speech" yesterday and said it was brilliantly cast and beautifully acted, quote: "a must see" :-)

must say I do recommend it, hubby said was it boring, and I said not at all it was so perfectly done with such humour and a touch of heart strings it wove its own spell. I havnt turned on the tv yet to see the damage was watching till midnight last night, awful I talked to sil whom lives in brisbane and her words were we just cant have any more rain - for the cloudless days of the 90's the gold coast has changed dramaticaly (sp) Pam I am sure you are very thankful that you got your holiday in when you did. I have completed 3 days of the lemon detox and am really pleased with the scale results, this should now spring me into proper weight loss - you just need to get started sometimes!! have a lovely day all.

What does the 'lemon detox' entail ? Is it something you buy ? Or do you make it yourself ? Excuse my ignorance :-)

its the one that beyonce did, its 1 1/4 cup good quality maple syrup, juice of 5 lemons and 10 cups of water - sip sip sip sip sip and nothing else, I got it a bit wrong the first day the recipe I googled said 1 teaspoon of cayanne pepper, I overdid that so got the hot choking at the back of the throat jobbie, next day I did 1 teaspoon of ground ginger which was much better, today I just have the juice - you can do as many days as you can last for I think they recommend 5 its a detox I have done it go kick start me into getting mindested to loose some weight, also when you do something like this when you start back on proper foods the processed stuff tastes horrible so also trying to encourage myself to better eating habits. If you are reading timetable, I just got some envelopes from Peet70 - she sells cello bags and tape, the tapes a bit grabby but if you dont restick you are fine, I cannot recommend this trader highly enough, prices are just fantastic and service is second to none, I got the envelopes yesterday and am very impressed with the quality.

Sorry for the small print Calista....[[ Hugs ]] and warm thoughts your way. Ive been meaning to tell you my mum absolutely loved the Cathedral at Xmas..from memory you were one of the kind people helping there. She said it was just so beautiful.

Thanks.

The Cathedral was beautiful and the people leaving gifts, ot just stopping to chat were great.

I saw the man in the mobility scooter (who had lifted my bike off me on Christmas eve) in Linwood Mall on Tuesday. I had been a bit worried he might have injured himself, but he assured me he was OK.

While I was thereI bought a chair, in kiset form, from Farmers. It weighed 11kg and stretched from under my chin to my knees. As I had I overspent myself I decided to carry it on the bus rather than get a taxi. It was OK walking to the bus stop, but I ran out of energy walking from my bus stop home. A generous woman in a car stopped and gave me and the chair a lift home.

Sometimes I forget how kind people can be.

Calista, there are some nice people out there.
Its not raining here at the moment, but is forecast for rain this afternoon, right up to tue.
We have a rough night weather wise, thunder, lightning, gale force winds.
Not much happening here today just a quiet day at home.
I am real pleased with my haircut, its a nice style bob short at the back and long in the front,dh likes it so much.
With me being off work, could not afford to get it dyed, still waiting for my disability insurance can not go on sickness benifit as dh earns too much,so its a waiting game at the moment.
Have a wonderful day all,am off to clean the bathroom.

Awww thanks Ellie!
I've just gotten up from a Nana nap ... the dogs downstairs had me up at 8am this morn - GRRRRR!
I think I'm going to have to have a chat with the neighbours ....
Sounds like everyone's better or heading in the right direction - great!
EA - keep taking it slowly & take care of you. Isn't it nice the difference something small like a haircut can make to how you're feeling.
I've got Miss nearly 14 on my case at the moment - she wants to dye her hair blue for her birthday! It wouldn't be my 1st choice for her but if it's the worst thing she does as a teenager then I'm not complaining. She is well aware of the risks of scalp/hair damage, etc so looks like my beautiful blondie is going blue!

Not sure that I would have been so Zen when my first was 14 but anything that doesn't leave permanent visible scars isn't worth getting your knickers in a twist. Son's tattoo on back at 19 made me madder than a hornet though. He tried "Mum I'm 19 you can't be mad at me ..." but pointed out that I couldn't stop him but I could sure as hell be mad. Looking back I really can't see why - it only shows with his shirt off and isn't a tacky picture.

Winnie, I like your attitude regarding Miss 14's hair, but could it get her suspended from school? Some high Schools have done this in the past.

Morning all - my 4am finish warped into 4.45am after a very busy night at the casino. As some of you will be waking up soon & having your first cuppa of the day, spare a thought for me sitting here with a beer lol!
Thanks for your input regarding my would be smurf ... she is at a small rural area school with no uniform so the colour of her hair isn't going to be an issue in that regard. I have found some semi-perminant colours here on TM & have suggested she consider one of those (cobalt blue is available) ... still waiting to hear back from her ...
She has an older german cousin whose hair is permenantly orange, or blue, or pink, or ... and DD looks up to her in many regards so the hair isn't a total surprise!

I knew the most elegant attractive older woman who always had dark blue hair, she worked as a nurse...lovely lady and it really suited her short hair style and skin colouring.Good about the school rules Winnie....allowing the smaller things and keeping the doors open to communicating with each other if any larger issues loom..Great idea...Also pleased to hear I'm not the only one who enjoys a drink at odd hours ( our only down time as nightshift workers ...did feel guilty at times)

Husband was highly stressed at naval ring and couldn't see that compared with all the other unsightly things nature was going to inflict on her stomach that one was nothing. Hang to the joy Charlieb2 - your turn is coming. There's nothing like a few teenagers for turning strongly held parental views on comparatively trivial things into minor preferences soon forgotten. It's just self=preservation really.

Morning all,
blue hair v under-age sex & drinking ... no contest!
Thankfully DD has strong views on the latter & shakes her head in disgust & dismay at the teenage antics of others so I think we'll come through the next few years ok - blue hair and all :)
I've heard back from her (actually she woke me this morn - grumble grumble) regarding the semi-perminant alternative but it's a no go. She has one of the salons in Takaka getting in the dye for her as she says she'd rather get it done professionally than risk a bad home job.
Atleast she has thought it through so I can't fault her on that!l (wouldn't mind a word with the parents that taught her to think for herself though lol!!)
Hope you're all having a nice weekend!
I had a shift from hell at work last night with it far busier than anyone had calculated when doing the roster ... and then 2 staff absent! I started at 8pm & didn't get a break until 1am! Not a happy camper!!!
Hope things go better tonight.

all this talk reminds me of a conversation last night, and it dawned on me that my son has no piercings apart from one ear he wanted at the age of 6 and that fad last 6 months, he has no tats but his gf does LOL, he reminds me of me :)

All I can say is I'm glad the worst thing my cat does is jump on my bed from a great height, she doesn't even have tatty ears the way the others did - she doesn't fight, and for a long-haired fluff-ball she can waddle at top speed.

I added the double ginger muffin recipe to the thread I started regarding Robyn Martin -for my fellow ginger addicts out there.

Hi Everyone.. have been away helping Miss 20 move to a new and more central apartment; home again now, and catching up on the thread..

Hi Rae.. my nephew dyed his jet black hair blue when about age 16.. he worked at McDonalds after school - when he went to work that day, they sent him home to change his hair colour, or not come back.

He worked out what part of his hair would show when he was wearing his McDonalds cap, and dyed the part that showed black.. keeping the blue under his cap.. they didn't notice the blue was partly still there!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend..

Rae, what they do with their hair is a no brainer, it a) grows out b) colours out. its a mark of whom they want to be now, if they were self harming, piercing, drinking, drugs - that is a very different story

I had a mother that took us up to the hairdresser and put the pudding bowl over our heads and cut, I grew my hair then cause she could cut it all off, so one of my biggest things was when I had my own kids was whatever they wanted to do with their hair they could, its not like a tattoo it grows out, its not a mark on the parent its them showing they are their own person let them.
shes getting to be a big girl shes trying to make her independence if it grows out whats the harm, shes the only one thats going to look a hoot, maybe you take a photo and show her in 20 years, she will be moritfied but cause I have a sore spot let her be....

I am no expert at baking but the kids seem to like it and I have just made two batches of oatmeal bikkies. school aged children and a 3 year old, sure know how to pack it away.

I cut my kids hair but one has straight hair and is easy to trim, the other won't sit still for anyone so I just trim the ends. the boy, well he had his hair trimmed when 3 (Cultural thing) and has only just had them develop into smallish curls.

Thanks lovelies - I actually have no issue with the whole blue thing ... my biggest concern was her skin/scalp as she has had some problems with excema in the past but she is prepared to take the risk & at the end of the day - it's her head!
I'm going up to Golden Bay in a week for her birthday so I'll take a photo (of the back of her head) and post here so you can all see the end result ...
Beer o'clock and unwind time for me - another busy night in the casino with alot of people in to watch the rugby 7's final.
At times I was watching the screen & being reminded that the pint of beer I was pouring was full when it started running over my hand lol!

Thanks for the heads up about the dye-job gone wrong. The hairdresser who will do DD's smurf job is a friend of ours & knows miss well so will be taking extra good care of her ... and her scalp. And DD has had the risks spelt out to her so we'll hope for a good outcome.

Hmmm Winnie - I hope your attempt at explaining the risks went better than mine. When daughter got the navel ring several of my friends had horror stories (some did sound rather far-fetched) which I relayed to her. She said "So, to summarize I might get a hideous infection, pelvic inflammatory disease, become a self-multilator, or catch it on my jeans waistband and rip it out?". Me - "that seems to be about it". She - "That's OK I'll make the appointment for Friday". Can't imagine what would have actually changed her mind!

Good afternoon lovely people, its pouring down here again and so cold sign,so another day for sky movies.
And yes we have the fire going, where is our summer,so no doggy walks today.
Doing really well, just have a nasty infection, waiting for someone to cancel as can not get into doctors until 17th sign.
Was reading the posts and had a little giggle,I sure have a hair problem,my father use to cut my hair basin style,so my hair is very important to me when I go to the hairdressers, and I feel a million dollars when I come out of there,I have a very good hairdresser.
not much new here so off to watch a movie.
