well I don't think I'll die of excitement at this rate - we took the recyclables to the tip, only to discover that they no longer recycle plastic No. 3, only 1 and 2, so we had to bring some of it home again to put in the rubbish - apparently the Chinese don't want "all" of our rubbish, only some of it. Don't know why, we buy enough of theirs especially at the warehouse! kuaka - 2013-08-22 17:09:00
lol kuaka I heard this on the news not long ago. Apparantly the Chineese have been receiving rubbish they didn't want as it wasn't being sorted properly so now they are getting strict with what they take. kiwimade64 - 2013-08-22 17:30:00
Wow Kuaka, I have enough trouble stopping MrP putting stuff in the recycle that he shouldn't. I haven't heard of any changes being made here. Ill have to re-educate him again... getting hard to teach the old dog new tricks lol. Ive started the collar, Its kinda weird, you cast on stitches for quite a few rows which just feels weird. But then Ive never done a collar seperatly so I guess they know what they are doing. Oh one of the ladies at the medlab showed me a blanket she is crocheting, she gave me a copy of the pattern. It has owls and circles on it.. She has given me the website for it. So ill see if I can find it and share it in here. Its rather cute. popeye333 - 2013-08-22 18:05:00
The site is called craftsy.com... They have oodles of patterns... didn't look at prices but I do have a copy of this one in the picture, but it is in black and white. Its beyond my crochet skills so it anyone wants it Im happy to post http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/280720598.jpg popeye333 - 2013-08-22 18:21:00
night girls see you all tomorrow carolev - 2013-08-22 20:32:00
That pattern is rather gorgeous popeye, I'd like to hold my hand up and ask for a copy, but I don't know whether I would ever get around to make it so I won't take you up on your kind offer, thank you. It looks easy enough though. kuaka - 2013-08-22 20:46:00
morning girls, foggy here and a wee bit cooler, I am off out today. been knitting sue's lady gaga hat carolev - 2013-08-23 07:32:00

The name has been in my head lol. I started the collar last night. I don't think it will take too long. not that many rows, just a lot of stitches. What am I going to knit Next lol.... Going to be a huge decision lol But it will be colourful that's for sure. Im over knitting one colour lol Well I best be brave and get this parcel posted and get some photo copies.. Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2013-08-23 08:45:00 |
yep popeye, she is going to be called Maddelyn (Maddy) Mary Annette :). Quite a mouthful really lol but we love it. Thanks for that, let me know how much I owe you and where to deposit the money. kiwimade64 - 2013-08-23 09:32:00
Phew Im glad I wasn't going nutty having the name in my head lol.. Have left you a message on fb, with my email addy in it.. Goodness knows where I have written your address down. lol Will send banking details when you email... a bit safer that way. Im maybe a third into the collar. Have figured out how it goes now lol It was really weird looking but understand how it goes now. So that's good. My SIL is knitting hers now and she likes it too.. Has offered to buy any I have left over off me if I decide I don't want to use it. But Ill see once Ive had a break from it. Everyone must be busy today popeye333 - 2013-08-23 12:46:00

No problem Mal. I just noticed today that the sneakers I bought about a month ago are starting to disintegrate. No prizes for guessing where they were made - grrrrrrrr! kuaka - 2013-08-23 22:16:00
oooooo now I read something about that somewhere....they are making the shoes with a new type of "plastic"...in disintegrates in no time flat......even just sitting in boxes!! ixcelm8 - 2013-08-23 23:42:00
morning ladies. well sat up and finished my lady gaga hat, did not work out to well so going to try again tonight. very cold and foggy here this morning . carolev - 2013-08-24 07:08:00
Morning everyone.. Foggy here too, Ohh I do love it. Like the outside world has vanished for a while and we are living in a special place. Cant wait to see the Gaga Hat Carole, I have no idea what its meant to look like lol... Have a little housework to do first before I can sit and knit Kiwimade can you email me, I cant find your addy etc popeye333 - 2013-08-24 08:52:00
No fog here, but not very warm - only 10 degrees in the family/dining/kitchen area, so put the heat pump on and decided to light the fire too. Probably be too hot in no time at all, and won't need any heating later, but I'd rather light the fire and keep it in low or let it go out, than sit here freezing. It heats the hot water too. Nothing planned much for today, except I will have to go out later to check the mail and post a parcel, and I will have to buy myself an ice block for medicinal purposes - I have a trigger finger, and have to keep it in a splint at night, and the ice block stick is the perfect size. Last night just as I was dozing off, his nibbs who was already asleep, grabbed my hand and squeezed the living daylights out of it, I sat up and yelled, he just grunted and turned over and this morning when I went to take the splint off it's now the shape of a boomerang! kuaka - 2013-08-24 09:51:00
morning :) wow what a morning lol, we've had the Great Duck Roundup and caged the ducks/drakes which have been sold. Two have gone and I'm waiting for a couple to arrive to pick up two more (hopefully they will take three) and that will leave us with a couple for the freezer if they don't sell. kiwimade64 - 2013-08-24 11:46:00
Been chilly here.. Ive been busy.. did the litter box, combed the cat, two loads of washing, cleaned out kitchen bottom drawer and vaccd the whole house. First time in 50 something years for the Sheild to go to Otago eh Kiwimade. Woohoo popeye333 - 2013-08-24 12:14:00
56 years popeye! Even our neighbour who is a keen waikato fan had to concede that was something :). kiwimade64 - 2013-08-24 16:43:00
kiwimade - you sound like a much keener gardener than me - you wouldn't like to come and have a "holiday" at my place would you, and pull my weeds out for me? kuaka - 2013-08-24 17:06:00
YAYAYAYAY I have finished knitting the jacket. 4 weeks and 1 day.. Well I have to cast off lol Goodness knows what I will knit next, but Ill find something lol. Im a third of the way on the third strip of my blanket too which is pleasing. I hate gardening, well in gardens on the ground.. Id much rather have raised beds. Then I would do more. it also doesn't help that dirt gives me itchy hands. Lol Kiwimade re your daughter hinting at the throw.. I have to admit It took a bit of "crawling" on my behalf to get the only magic square blanket that mum made. That and the fact that she knew I would care for it properly lol Right time for a quick squizzy on here and then Ill cast off the collar. Happy Knitting everyone popeye333 - 2013-08-24 18:12:00
lol kuaka, I think I have my hands full with my own garden. This has been the first winter in 20 odd years I haven't worked and the first spring where the weeds haven't reached windowsills in height :). So nice not to have that massive cleanup. | 2075 | Wow very nice garden kiwimade. Yes, it was great seeing the shield go to Otago. I was surprised that it had been 56 years! Looking forward to the Bledisloe Cup tonight. Well I finally went back to work on Thursday. The doctor had put me off 'til then. Still have a cough but definitely a lot better. It worked out well though as after several phone calls and emails to EQC to get my house reassessed, they finally came on Wednesday morning so I was home. Looks like they agree with the builder I got to come and do a reassessment after EQCs first visit. All going well the inside of my house will be painted and floor tiles replaced before Christmas (well that's what the builder told me, lol). Myself and the furry one will have to move out for four weeks. This week I've been cross-stitching - well in fact I've been doing the back stitching and still have quite a bit to do. This afternoon mowed the front lawn and did some weeding out there. Couldn't mow the back lawn as after I finished out the front, the green bin was full, lol. Well think I'll go and make myself a cuppa and then get settled down with my cross-stitch and watch the All Blacks. Edited by pats3 at 7:05 pm, Sat 24 Aug pats3 - 2013-08-24 19:04:00

morning. started next hat , going to be busy today, doing washing, planting plants, and sewing, i am feeling really well again, carolev - 2013-08-25 07:27:00
morning :) Thanks pats, I'm proud of it. Takes a fair bit of work but I enjoy the physical-ness of it. I backstitch as I go, probably not ideal but I don't like doing it so find it more manageable to stitch it this way. kiwimade64 - 2013-08-25 08:49:00

Oh no, I hate long needles, sweet dreams of balls of yarn and short needles, or better still, crochet hooks. Well it's a miserable wet day here but not as cold as yesterday. I've only just got up. Was hoping to see Team NZ win the Louis Vuitton cup for my birthday, but they still need one more win and racing was cancelled after the first race today because there was too much wind. What is with these guys. They shouldn't be racing in those boats if they can't handle winds up to 30 knots. When the yacht America first raced in what was then the 100 guineas cup in 1852 the boats had to sail across the Atlantic to compete. I wouldn't want to go anywhere in these things they call boats that they are racing in these days. Good grief. No plans for today just as long as it doesn't involve me cooking, so I'm thinking it's Chinese takeaways for tea tonight, and I will probably spend a fair amount of the day sitting knitting or crocheting. It's definitely a no-housework day! Edited by kuaka at 10:16 am, Sun 25 Aug kuaka - 2013-08-25 10:14:00 |
Happy Birthday Kuaka.. I agree no cooking for you today. Yup feet up with short needles or a hook in your hand. Have a good day popeye333 - 2013-08-25 12:13:00
Got a lot of back stitching done last night while watching the rugby. Took doggo for a walk this morning. Have made an apple crumble and some lolly cake to take over to my niece's place. The apple crumble is for her husband for fixing my laptop, lol. He loves apple crumble. The lolly cake is for their three little girls - mind you, of course they all have some of everything. Going out to mow the back lawn now. Hope my niece has room in her green bin as mine is full from yesterday's effort in the garden. It's a fine day here. Cheers everyone and enjoy the rest of your weekend. pats3 - 2013-08-25 12:34:00
At least I don't feel guilty sitting here watching the grass grow, I'm not a fan of mowing the lawn and holding an umbrella at the same time! kuaka - 2013-08-25 12:46:00
One step closer... I only have to add the collar and zip and Im done.. Have enjoyed sewing it up. Will look at patterns after tea lol.... popeye333 - 2013-08-25 16:39:00
Happy birthday Kuaka. Hope you've had a lovely day doing what you want to do. Nearly there popeye. You'll soon be able to start something else. Hope your headache disappears soon. pats3 - 2013-08-25 16:47:00

That's a good buy Whiskey.. I got the wool for MrPs jacket from Deramores. I got 10 x 100 gram balls cos I didn't want to run out and have to wait. I have only used 5.5 balls so that has worked out to be $29.00 plus the 10 cent zip lol.. Its 75% acrylic and 25% wool. So its light but warm. Carole I love the clowns suit... I haven't sewn for ages, other than doing curtains, both nets and drapes. I love gingham. Ive had a look at baby patterns, nothing has screamed out at me, other than one dress. I don't know baby sizes which is a problem.. as in how many inches for how many months. Im sure Ill find something to knit through the day lol.. popeye333 - 2013-08-25 17:47:00 |

Afternoon ladies, well I had a lovely lazy birthday yesterday, the weather was miserable so we didn't even go out to get takeaways which had been the plan (I thought it would be a change as we never ever have them) but not to worry. Did quite a bit of crochet (I'm doing a baby blanket) and just generally blobbed out, had a couple of glasses of wine, well one too many I think, and I'm feeling just a wee bit fragile today. At least we won the Louis Vuitton Cup which is fantastic - now can we take the America's Cup off the cheating Americans???? kuaka - 2013-08-26 12:37:00
I meant to say, thank you all for your birthday wishes and Carolev the clown suit is gorgeous. kuaka - 2013-08-26 12:38:00
Ta-Da... here you go ladies The wool is Chocolate Neppe from Deramores. used 5.5 100 grm balls and the total cost $29. I am feeling a little proud of myself. And MrP loves it popeye333 - 2013-08-26 12:46:00

morning ladies :) Lovely cardy popeye, haven't seen yarn with a fleck in it for ages. I'm off to school today so no knitting - don't even get time in my lunchbreak as I usually have a lunchtime duty and sometimes I get a playbreak duty and sometimes both :). kiwimade64 - 2013-08-27 07:20:00
Morning all... Lovely day here at the mo... Sun is shining but there is wind and clouds. Not good re the fingers Carole is there a reason for it? Off to the oppy and rego the car today.. Im going to try and find some royal blue, light blue and bright yellow crepe wool... so Ill be looking at jumpers too. I can undo and reuse it. So MrP and I will go out on Friday for our Anniversary instead. And get a new bear from the cancer society for Daffodil Day. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2013-08-27 08:39:00
