I reckon you can never have too much wool either

well I don't think I'll die of excitement at this rate - we took the recyclables to the tip, only to discover that they no longer recycle plastic No. 3, only 1 and 2, so we had to bring some of it home again to put in the rubbish - apparently the Chinese don't want "all" of our rubbish, only some of it. Don't know why, we buy enough of theirs especially at the warehouse!

lol kuaka I heard this on the news not long ago. Apparantly the Chineese have been receiving rubbish they didn't want as it wasn't being sorted properly so now they are getting strict with what they take.
Just had a school call and book me in for a day next week :) *doing the happy dance* lol, this will help out quite a bit. Am going to plan some art activities over the weekend.
No knitting today but I did embroider two tiny leaves for my stumpwork and it involved embroidering around wire so it was a fiddle. Still, for a beginner I'm happy with the results so far. Four more leaves to stitch and three flower petals. I need to do it during the day as I can't see well enough in the evenings to sew.
I'm off to pick up MrK, he's having a few beers with a mate so isn't driving.
Happy knitting :)

Wow Kuaka, I have enough trouble stopping MrP putting stuff in the recycle that he shouldn't. I haven't heard of any changes being made here. Ill have to re-educate him again... getting hard to teach the old dog new tricks lol.
Yay Kiwimade re the day of work... That's good news.

Ive started the collar, Its kinda weird, you cast on stitches for quite a few rows which just feels weird. But then Ive never done a collar seperatly so I guess they know what they are doing.

Oh one of the ladies at the medlab showed me a blanket she is crocheting, she gave me a copy of the pattern. It has owls and circles on it.. She has given me the website for it. So ill see if I can find it and share it in here. Its rather cute.
My INR was great so my 5th month in a row that I have a month between tests.. Yay

That pattern is rather gorgeous popeye, I'd like to hold my hand up and ask for a copy, but I don't know whether I would ever get around to make it so I won't take you up on your kind offer, thank you. It looks easy enough though.

morning ladies :) foggy and damp in our corner of the Waikato too, a real pea-souper.
Well done for your INR results popeye. MrK's INR keeps jumping around all over the place since he had prostrate cancer seven years ago. It's only been in the last few months things have settled down a bit (no more frantic calls from our GP during the day/early evening lol). It's taken a longgg time so frustrating at times.
That's a gorgeous pattern popeye, could I have a copy please? Would love to crochet it for our grandy's cot. I'll pay for postage and the copying. I have a funny feeling I've been on that craftsy site at some stage, might have to have another peek.
Happy knitting :)

I started the collar last night. I don't think it will take too long. not that many rows, just a lot of stitches.

What am I going to knit Next lol.... Going to be a huge decision lol But it will be colourful that's for sure. Im over knitting one colour lol

Well I best be brave and get this parcel posted and get some photo copies..

Have a good day everyone

Have left you a message on fb, with my email addy in it.. Goodness knows where I have written your address down. lol Will send banking details when you email... a bit safer that way.

Im maybe a third into the collar. Have figured out how it goes now lol It was really weird looking but understand how it goes now. So that's good. My SIL is knitting hers now and she likes it too.. Has offered to buy any I have left over off me if I decide I don't want to use it. But Ill see once Ive had a break from it.

Morning everyone..

Foggy here too, Ohh I do love it. Like the outside world has vanished for a while and we are living in a special place.

Cant wait to see the Gaga Hat Carole, I have no idea what its meant to look like lol...
Am plodding along with the collar. Im at 145 stitches so only another 24 to go.. trouble is the rows keep getting longer lol...

Have a little housework to do first before I can sit and knit

Kiwimade can you email me, I cant find your addy etc

No fog here, but not very warm - only 10 degrees in the family/dining/kitchen area, so put the heat pump on and decided to light the fire too. Probably be too hot in no time at all, and won't need any heating later, but I'd rather light the fire and keep it in low or let it go out, than sit here freezing. It heats the hot water too. Nothing planned much for today, except I will have to go out later to check the mail and post a parcel, and I will have to buy myself an ice block for medicinal purposes - I have a trigger finger, and have to keep it in a splint at night, and the ice block stick is the perfect size. Last night just as I was dozing off, his nibbs who was already asleep, grabbed my hand and squeezed the living daylights out of it, I sat up and yelled, he just grunted and turned over and this morning when I went to take the splint off it's now the shape of a boomerang!

morning :) wow what a morning lol, we've had the Great Duck Roundup and caged the ducks/drakes which have been sold. Two have gone and I'm waiting for a couple to arrive to pick up two more (hopefully they will take three) and that will leave us with a couple for the freezer if they don't sell.
Popeye, I'll flick you an email shortly. if I can't find your addy I'll leave you a message on FB:)
Fantastic news Otago took the Shield lol. I called my dad, aunt and uncle in Brisbane to let them know - I could hear my aunt shouting and soooo excited in the background lol. Can you tell we are south islanders lol - no matter where we live!
Might get some knitting done later or I might sew, will see what the day brings.
Happy knitting :)

Been chilly here.. Ive been busy.. did the litter box, combed the cat, two loads of washing, cleaned out kitchen bottom drawer and vaccd the whole house.
Then made MrP a drink and fed the cat Again..MrP said after his drink we could do the dishes and Im standing there saying something is wrong with this picture.. Ive done all the work while they both sat and watched and I was waiting on them ....
MrP has finally done the dishes, alone tho. while I knitted.
I need a splint for my right leg lol, my knee locked yesterday so along with the usual hip pain I have a sore knee as well. lol..

First time in 50 something years for the Sheild to go to Otago eh Kiwimade. Woohoo

56 years popeye! Even our neighbour who is a keen waikato fan had to concede that was something :).
No knitting or sewing so far as I ended up with my nose in a book and there went the afternoon. Still, I'll get some knitting done this afternoon. After our daughter eyed up my throws and hinted (omgg she's good at that lol) she wouldn't mind one (omgg mum, the colour would be just so perfect for our lounge suite!) I've started knitting her one for Christmas. Won't have enough camel coloured yarn so am doing panels in camel and another in cream, all cables. Might embroider something up where the colours join and will put tassels on the ends. Just pottering about with it and experimenting at the moment.
Garden is just begging to be weeded so I need to start that too. Atleast keeping it weeded over winter has paid off, the weeds are small(ish) and it won't take long to do.
happy knitting :)

kiwimade - you sound like a much keener gardener than me - you wouldn't like to come and have a "holiday" at my place would you, and pull my weeds out for me?

YAYAYAYAY I have finished knitting the jacket. 4 weeks and 1 day.. Well I have to cast off lol
Im a bit over the colour even tho I love it.. Will start sewing up tomorrow...Fingers crossed the zip will fit, otherwise Ill be off to the saddlers.
Lets hope there is a cool day before or on Friday for our anniversary.

Goodness knows what I will knit next, but Ill find something lol. Im a third of the way on the third strip of my blanket too which is pleasing.

I hate gardening, well in gardens on the ground.. Id much rather have raised beds. Then I would do more. it also doesn't help that dirt gives me itchy hands.

Lol Kiwimade re your daughter hinting at the throw.. I have to admit It took a bit of "crawling" on my behalf to get the only magic square blanket that mum made. That and the fact that she knew I would care for it properly lol

Right time for a quick squizzy on here and then Ill cast off the collar.

Happy Knitting everyone

lol kuaka, I think I have my hands full with my own garden. This has been the first winter in 20 odd years I haven't worked and the first spring where the weeds haven't reached windowsills in height :). So nice not to have that massive cleanup.
Thought I would brag a bit, these pics were taken last summer. And yes there was a drought but we are on a bore and not on town supply and when the pic with the hose going was taken, those of us out in the country weren't on restrictions.

Wow very nice garden kiwimade. Yes, it was great seeing the shield go to Otago. I was surprised that it had been 56 years! Looking forward to the Bledisloe Cup tonight.

Well I finally went back to work on Thursday. The doctor had put me off 'til then. Still have a cough but definitely a lot better.

It worked out well though as after several phone calls and emails to EQC to get my house reassessed, they finally came on Wednesday morning so I was home. Looks like they agree with the builder I got to come and do a reassessment after EQCs first visit. All going well the inside of my house will be painted and floor tiles replaced before Christmas (well that's what the builder told me, lol). Myself and the furry one will have to move out for four weeks.

This week I've been cross-stitching - well in fact I've been doing the back stitching and still have quite a bit to do.

This afternoon mowed the front lawn and did some weeding out there. Couldn't mow the back lawn as after I finished out the front, the green bin was full, lol.

Well think I'll go and make myself a cuppa and then get settled down with my cross-stitch and watch the All Blacks.

morning :) Thanks pats, I'm proud of it. Takes a fair bit of work but I enjoy the physical-ness of it. I backstitch as I go, probably not ideal but I don't like doing it so find it more manageable to stitch it this way.
Good win by the All Blacks and the Bledisloe Cup stays here for another year.
Good to see you are feeling well again Carole :).
I have some unpicking to do so will do that this morning, it's not much thank goodness. Just stitched a stitch back to front - must be my lefthandedness. I have to reverse any diagrams in my mind before I stitch. All my cross stitches 'lay' the opposite direction to right handed stitchers and I work from right to left. The buttonhole stitch I have been sewing was 'insideout' if that makes sense.
Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone. Glad to hear everyone is on the mend.
Love your garden Kiwimade. I wish my head would do nice looking gardens. But my brain works to regimental lines. I like things lined up and looking orderly.. Well in our own place but I envy nice relaxed looking gardens too
Have had thunder lighten and rain most of the night. so still no gardening today.
Took me 30 mins to cast off in rib the collar last night. Id forgotten how much I don't like doing that lol.
So I can sew it up today. Hope that runs smoothly.
I have a pattern for a multi coloured sleeveles vest , also a button up version and it was in my head this morning with the colours that I have in wool crepe. I will see if I have enough colours, can always play with what I have and see if it will work.
I don't suppose you can still buy it.. Might look on here too.
Have a good day everyone. My friend who usually mentions the rugby on her facebook hasn't.. does that mean we lost? off to find out

Oh no, I hate long needles, sweet dreams of balls of yarn and short needles, or better still, crochet hooks.

Well it's a miserable wet day here but not as cold as yesterday. I've only just got up. Was hoping to see Team NZ win the Louis Vuitton cup for my birthday, but they still need one more win and racing was cancelled after the first race today because there was too much wind. What is with these guys. They shouldn't be racing in those boats if they can't handle winds up to 30 knots. When the yacht America first raced in what was then the 100 guineas cup in 1852 the boats had to sail across the Atlantic to compete. I wouldn't want to go anywhere in these things they call boats that they are racing in these days. Good grief.

No plans for today just as long as it doesn't involve me cooking, so I'm thinking it's Chinese takeaways for tea tonight, and I will probably spend a fair amount of the day sitting knitting or crocheting. It's definitely a no-housework day!

Happy Birthday Kuaka.. I agree no cooking for you today. Yup feet up with short needles or a hook in your hand.
Cant say Im a fan of long needles either. Which is why I brought a full set of the short ones too.
Ive done 3 of the sleeve shoulder seams. One to go then to whizz along the sleeves and side seam. Not taking me as long as I thought it would. And that was while txting a friend and talking to another on the phone while I sewed too. The zip will be slower.
Has anyone cheated and sewed them in on the machine? I just hope it will be long enough really.
Well I need to do some listing. Then I can get back to my sewing.

Have a good day

Got a lot of back stitching done last night while watching the rugby. Took doggo for a walk this morning. Have made an apple crumble and some lolly cake to take over to my niece's place. The apple crumble is for her husband for fixing my laptop, lol. He loves apple crumble. The lolly cake is for their three little girls - mind you, of course they all have some of everything.

Going out to mow the back lawn now. Hope my niece has room in her green bin as mine is full from yesterday's effort in the garden. It's a fine day here.

Cheers everyone and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

One step closer... I only have to add the collar and zip and Im done.. Have enjoyed sewing it up.
It fits, is long on the sleeves but I expected that cos he likes to fold the cuff back... Should have thought to reverse my stitching there. but never mind.
Just as well I added length to the body, cos it will be a nice fit round his tummy.
Will do pics when its finished.
He has told me no more for the day, to give my headache a rest...

Will look at patterns after tea lol....

Just popped in to say happy birthday to kuaka.
Have been busy out on our 20 acres over the last few weeks so am knackered when I get home and don't feel like jumping on the computer. Can still pick up the needles though. Lol.
Should be able to start a jersey this week that I bought the wool for from deramores. In New Zealand the wool was gonna cost $168 but i got it for $98.

That's a good buy Whiskey.. I got the wool for MrPs jacket from Deramores. I got 10 x 100 gram balls cos I didn't want to run out and have to wait. I have only used 5.5 balls so that has worked out to be $29.00 plus the 10 cent zip lol.. Its 75% acrylic and 25% wool. So its light but warm.
We are soo lucky to have access to wool from England. I shudder to think what it might have cost from here.

Carole I love the clowns suit... I haven't sewn for ages, other than doing curtains, both nets and drapes. I love gingham.

Ive had a look at baby patterns, nothing has screamed out at me, other than one dress. I don't know baby sizes which is a problem.. as in how many inches for how many months.

Im sure Ill find something to knit through the day lol..

Morning everyone... Foggy here too... I always see it as a positive cos generally it means it will be a nice day once it lifts. And its always a home reminder for me.
Glad you have got new homes for those silly ducks Kiwimade... They can be total numbskulls at times eh.
I asked on fb but will ask here too.. I have the collar pinned on. Ive got the right side of the collar facing the inside of the jacket. So that when its sewn on it folds over and the right side of the collar will be showing.. That is the right way isn't it?
Id hate to put it on and have it wrong. I think it sounds right but really just need confirmation.
I still have no idea what I want to knit.. So I might start a santa for us. I think I want to do something for a baby, but don't know what as yet lol.

Afternoon ladies, well I had a lovely lazy birthday yesterday, the weather was miserable so we didn't even go out to get takeaways which had been the plan (I thought it would be a change as we never ever have them) but not to worry. Did quite a bit of crochet (I'm doing a baby blanket) and just generally blobbed out, had a couple of glasses of wine, well one too many I think, and I'm feeling just a wee bit fragile today.

At least we won the Louis Vuitton Cup which is fantastic - now can we take the America's Cup off the cheating Americans????

Will do a few rows for you Kiwimade... cant promise that you wont have to undo them again tho lol Have fun at school
Theres a denim blue version of that neppe wool too.. Im tempted lol. MrP looks really good in blue.

Not good re the fingers Carole is there a reason for it?

Off to the oppy and rego the car today.. Im going to try and find some royal blue, light blue and bright yellow crepe wool... so Ill be looking at jumpers too. I can undo and reuse it.
My friends D & C has been cancelled she has fibroids no more pholps. fibroids are seldom cancerous so they don't see the need to do the surgery.

So MrP and I will go out on Friday for our Anniversary instead. And get a new bear from the cancer society for Daffodil Day.

Have a fab day everyone
