Cold and wet down here, really need to get myself into the office but hubby is home on Fridays now so it's hard to get motivated to go to work. Especially when it's such good knitting weather in front of a DVD!!!

It rained off and on here as well It has been pouring tonight though. Good for the tanks. I have my teenage granddaughter for the night. She is finally fast asleep. This is the sporty one. She has a Soccer barbi tomorrow night down the road, so I will drop her off and Mum will pick her up as I will be babysitting her cousin tomorrow night. Achieved a lot today but tomorrow night I will sit, knit and flob out when missie is asleep. No time tonight. We got home too late.

Yeah, I guess But being the first on a new page is like opening a brand new book or starting a new craft project!! (Which is probably why he/she did it).

My thoughts exactly grizzly, well at least we got to 2000 and still going strong. we are one of the oldest threads now

Ha ha Had a great day with my granddaughter. We went shopping and then had lunch at the mall. I was able to get her to show me a nice little silver necklace she liked. Aunts and uncles never know what to buy teenagers for xmas so I got heaps of things sorted for them Lol. She is keen to make some little bracelets as well so she has the craft instinct. I have not spent time with her by herself for ages and we had a ball. Taught her how to mend a tear in her tights before we went out. She was so pleased with herself. ha ha. Dropped her off at the Soccer windup at 5 and now I am off to babysit little Miss whilst her parents go out to dinner. I have my knitting bag by the door ready to go.

You sound a wonderful grandmother ... ... and I'm very aware of wanting to enjoy & spend time with my own grandchildren. Sadly my own mother played a very small role in the lives of her grandchildren ... it was kind of 'love them from a distance' philosophy & they have few, if any special memories of times spent together with her. Your grandchildren are very lucky to have you as their grandmother!

Thanks Jane I love my Mum dearly but although we did spend 10 years living overseas my Mum was like yours. I love being a Grandmother and Yes I spend most of my time with grandchildren. I can enjoy these years with them. They bring so much laughter and joy. Just made gingerbread biscuits for little miss. We have two more little girls to look after as their mum is off to hospital for surgery and does not have family support. So the big house will be rocking with 3 little girls under 4. It is a lovely day today so I think I will head out to the garden for a bit.

I do too, makereal, I seem to have my wee girls especially, more days than I dont have them. They are so lovely and bring so much joy and laughter. Miss 2 tries her best to keep up with all the things that miss 3 1/2 says and does. We usually make cup cakes each week. I am picking them up from outside their mums work at 8.15 in the morning for a full day of fun.

Hi Jo how is H? They grow up so fast. M loves icing the cupcakes but she has not got a sweet tooth so she does not eat the icing. Lol. My other daughter goes back to work in 6 months. 3 days a week so we are trying to work out a schedule so that I can mind him as well. I cannot bear the thought of him being minded by a stranger. He grins at me when I visit and then proceeds to stick his tongue out. That is his favourite trick. I am lucky I have very happy relaxed grandchildren. Raining here today so no outside for miss. More painting. Ha ha. You are a great grandma girl!!!It is a fulltime job being a Nana.

There are certainly a few readers following our thread! Boy thev school holidays have started with a wollop. Our holiday programme started yesterday and I am starting work at 8am for 2 weeks to do the registrations and other paperwork. They have planned an overnight camp next, haha. We haven't done one for a few years now but our new staff are all keen. Good on them as long as they leave me out of it.

grizzly4 - 2009-09-29 07:16:00
2017

Come on now grizzly You know overnight camps are so much funnnnnn. Lol. Walking around in the mud at night trying to keep an eye including those in the back of your head on our little treasures. Scouting for extra clothes for all the kids whose parents did not count on them getting wet and dirty every day. Running around on the last day to help kids find all their stufffff. Best part when you throw all the dirty washing into the laundry on arrival home and colapse in a heap on the couch. Lol Holidays are just as much fun. ha ha. My granddaughter cleaned my car and her uncles. Good girl. Aunty is complaining because she wants hers done but alas she is at work.

I started minding Bub at 8 This is slave labour grizzly. Ha ha. She is asleep. Phew. I am sure I am losing weight. Wishful thinking. Lovely day here. Good day for a bike ride girl. Have a great day girls.

no it is a labour of love, ha ha We have done nothing that we planned to do. L (17) has asthma and we reced to the doctors twice to be put on the neb machine and then he was admitted to hospital this afternoon. I am so impressed we were at the hospital by 3.15 and he had had xrays done and was on the ward by 4.30, but there were heaps of people in the corridors etc on beds. His ward must have been a quite one.

smartgirl - 2009-09-29 18:41:00
2020

Poor boy They got him in the ward fast though. If he was up here at the North Shore he would still be waiting. I kid you not. It is frightening for those that suffer from Asthma. You are not having a good day at all Jo. We managed to get all our chores done and then it poured all over the washing.

Another silly weather day My daughter in law has family in Samoa though so I will ring her tomorrow night. My Son is in the States and he would be trying to get through to her. They will all be trying to contact her Mum's family in Samoa. Last year they visited and had a fab holiday in Samoa. The whole family is coming over for a wedding at Labour weekend. I hope everyone is alright but it is a large family. How frightening for everyone there. I just have to wait and see tomorrow.

My heart goes out to those families affected by yesterdays earthquakes. Equally as strongly is my frustration with those parents who took their children to the beaches here in NZ. To see the surges in the harbours up north on the news last night made it very clear how much strength there is in the water. And that was only a tiny effect the tsunami had on NZ.Far too close for comfort.

I agree grizzly. Just idiots Those cakes you sent were amazing. Some people are so clever. Must have taken ages for a lot of them.

Well good news My DIL,s family are okay. Thank heavens. One of her Aunty's family lives in American Samoa and the others live throughout Samoa. They had lots of damage. Everyone here very relieved. The kids could not ger over the beach areas where they all had fun and which are now buried under rubble. We are very lucky here. Today I seemed to be rushing all day and I must admit I am feeling absolutely had it. My feet are protesting something awful. ha ha. Bought some more mosaic tiles last night. Felt the urge. Ha ha.

Thank goodness...... like you I am knackered after a long week. My daughter asked if we could have 16 month B overnight tonight for the first time and we had to say no as hubby has a dreadful dose of 'flu. Really bad timing! But he's been sick a few times over winter, don't want to be the reason for him being unwell again.

grizzly4 - 2009-10-03 08:48:00
2026

Gosh I know what you mean grizzly I stay away from the little ones if I have the flu. Compulsory holiday. Lol. I really like that statement. Ha ha. Never mind there will be another night. Little K is crawling and he is only 5 months still. I thought he was 6 months but Nana cannot count. He whizzed all over the lounge floor this morning and his uncle just sat there playing with him and grinning from ear to ear. I went up to babysit while his Mum went to the gym. His Uncle had come up from Hamilton so I did not get a look in. Ha ha. I have had a laid back day and I enjoyed it very much. I really love the Peaches and Creme dishcloth cottons I got on here. Checked out the American Website. Such lovely colours. Have not seen anything equivlent here. Such a shame. It is expensive.

Just started a cotton cardi For miss M to wear over her party frocks. That girl goes to more parties than I do and she is not 2 yet. Ha ha. This one has a pretty lacey edge to it. Something different to knit. Found some material in the stash for a quilted cot cover for K but I need to buy some batting for it. Might pop into Spotlight with my $10 voucher. Little M was helping me sort out buttons today. I found a set of 6 for a little cardi I had knitted for her cousin. I had sown on 5 and I cannot find the last button. I did have it when she went back to the house but it is hiding now. I am even looking at my cat suspiciously now. Ha ha. He has been known to steal a ball of wool. I have even looked down the back of my lazyboy and tipped it up. Sigh. Hopefully it will tuen up.

Had a quiet Sunday yesterday. Very cold outside so watched the motor racing on tv and knitted. Finished a prem dress and leggings set for the shop and a pair of bootees for hubby to take to work as a present for a work mate. Wouldn't you know it he's still too sick to go in! Having to pay the doctor and chemist for both of us this week as all my prescriptions need filling. That will knock the bank balance even with the 'oldies' and high user discounts.

grizzly4 - 2009-10-05 07:04:00
2029

I know that feeling, perhaps the 3 of us should buy a pharmacy. I hate when they call out my name and there is a huge pile on the counter. I did nothing yesterday but knit. To wet to even go outside. Makereal, did you find your lost button

smartgirl - 2009-10-05 08:14:00
2030

I was a little bit sneaky... I gave hubby a list of my drugs when he went to the doctor yesterday and was lucky enough to get a prescription for everything without having to see him myself. Saved a whole consultation fee!! Hehe. Worked on my cross stitch last night. Coming along nicely. Did you find that button in the end, makeralbany?

grizzly4 - 2009-10-06 07:19:00
2031

I have just been out to Ohaupo to pick up my wee girls and there is snow on Pirongia. No wonder it was cold here yesterday. Its the first time I have ever seen it.

smartgirl - 2009-10-06 08:39:00
2032

No I have not found that button yet I am still hopeful. My darn internet connection dropped out all day yesterday and I missed a book I wanted. Drat. Have to ring telecom againnnnn. Yes it was freezing here. I even put my heater on again. Fancy snow on Pirongia. It never snowed in the 20 years I lived near there. Good move grizzly about the prescription.

makerealbany - 2009-10-06 09:36:00
2033

The darn cat bit me I don't know what was wrong with him but he grabbed me and held my arm with his paws and then bit me. I was so mad as well as jumping around. That hurt. He must be getting old and cranky like me. Ha ha. Up at Orewa our internet is off line at the house as well. It takes hours to get xtra to sort things. You are put on hold etc, etc and then they blame Telecom who in turn says!!!!! and so on. So unless it is fixed soon I will be offline for a few days. Keep the home fires burning girls.

makerealbany - 2009-10-06 18:07:00
2034

Internet on again aha I was just sitting knitting and my granddaughter ran in the door and said Quick Nan IT IS ON. I dropped my knitting on that wretched cat and raced to the screen. I still missed out on an auction I wanted, the cat got snakey and is now on the bed glaring at me I swear. Was hoping to hear back from my 6 year old grandson who is coming for the weekend from Hamilton. He sent me something in the mail and was checking to see if it had arrived. The mystery has not arrived yet. He is at Whangamata for the holidays.

makerealbany - 2009-10-06 21:38:00

Letter arrived addressed by his little self So cute and he is only 6. Anyway I have to pick him up at 7-30 on Friday morning. That is cool, his stepdad is bringing him up from Hamilton as he works in Auckland. The internet goes off and on and they still cannot sort out the probelm. I am into Auto bidding now just in case. Ha ha. Jed has got over the sulks and his his calm oldself. Purring up a storm. You girls must be busy as usual.

2036

Well I really am here by myself with the new format. I quite like it. The new format I mean, not by myself. tee hee. Where are you all? Had a busy day and lace cardi is coming along nucely for little miss. There appears to be real probelms with Xtra and Telecom. It is hopeless trying to access net during the day. Wonder if they will give us a discount. Doubt it.

Well after 2 busy days with the girls and not much sleep at night I crashed this afternoon and woke up to this. At first I was a bit confused and thought it was just my computer. Makereal you have been on your own. Love to see you get a discount.

I think I like it, you can come straight into to the right page as well, there is even a little counter to tell you how many letters you can type. I see in other threads you can even write upside down and back the front. Strange.

Well welcome back smartgirl. Big grins from me. I know just how you feel. After I picked up by grandson, took him shopping, watched the circus in the mall and had lunch, I was shattered. It has been a busy week with M and she is so happy to have her cousin over she is practically ignoring us( Mum and I) I just love it. ha ha. My darn foot is as swollen as again. I was driving for 2 and a half hours today and it cannot cope with that. I have just taken two painkillers and am going to settle in front of tele with my foot up. Received some more cotton today. We have 2 sellers of the same cotton on TM now and I am paying a lot less for the fabulous stuff. Nothing like a bit of competition. I have done heaps to stuff in with xmas presents but I think they are too nice for dishclothes. They make nice face cloths for us girls. Is that sexist? Sorry guys. I will use some for dishcloths but don't think my girls will.

I've been really slack in the craft field lately but last night I picked up my knitting needles again and started a poncho for my mother. I knitted myself a fabulous one last year in purples - lots of different textures and shades. She has requested a similar one in reds. I also have two quilts I must finish for Christmas so need to make a bit of an effort there. Both are well on the way but still quite a bit of work to do.

If somebody is looking to build there own Artists Portfolio for there Arts, and contemplate using a latest Technology ADOBE Flash / FLEX Application I would be quiet happy to do this for ‘FREE’.
Give your ideas e.g. Instruction, Text, Colours and Images etc. I develop the Web Application and publish it on my server while I’m working on it - all SEO (Search Engine Optimization) included!
Therefore changes can be made while still working on the Design etc. etc.
Search for ‘WebFlashArtistry’ and on my site there is a section called ‘Ideas In Beta’ have a look at these apps. which I developed for some overseas Artists in a kind of Impact Show Case format. Contact Info on WFA site.
Want to see more items go also to aktell.deviantart which is a com site, and there are more Images.
As I was saying ‘FREE’ is free! I do everything ‘IF’ you have as an Artists something interesting to Show Case e.g. Photography, Digital Artist, Crafts anything really what could be interesting and inspirational to me as a Developer!
I would develop everything so far that the Flash / FLEX Web Application can be published. If you do not have an idea about publishing an application and the Html wrapper page with the ‘SEO’ I could help and give you a hand and some advise still ‘FREE’. Please send me an E-mail and tell me about your Art and what your requirements/ideas are for a Web Application and we go from there.

Hi barbrose you must be a whizz to be making 2 quilts. In my sewing stash I have lots of quilting pieces I never got around to making. I always mean to start and get waylaid by something else. Ha ha. I purchased a baby cane basinet for my youngest granddaughters Christmas present and thought I would make her a little quilt set for it. Have been pulling out material to cut. I have a few quilting books so will experiment. Have some wyncyette so that will be the sheets.

I used to love watching the craft shows on the living channel espeicially the quilting shows but now it is all about ruddy real estate.
I even found the cutting mats I bought!!!!! It is amazing what treasures are buried in my wee cottage. Spent my Spotlight voucher today and bought more silko for Taaniko. I am stashing my silko. It is 13 dollars a hank which is 110m. I have managed to buy some on TM which was a real bargain. Next year I am going to make belts for my 3 sons.
