| My friend has bought land in Darfield grizzly Caught up with her on Saturday for a quick coffee on my way home. I am trying to finish one lot of books so that I can get my reports done for the work in Rotorua. My dictaphone is broken so I am awaiting the new one so I can type up my notes. I could not write fast enough with my arthritis. One has to be factual and unemotional in the compiling of the reports. My phone has been a hot line over the last 2 weeks and even my cell phone has been ringing like mad. I have just finished the night's work and I am off to bed feeling !!!!! makerealbany - 2009-09-01 00:11:00 |
| Darfield is not that far from Christchurch so when you visit her we will organise something. Maybe pick you up on the bike!!!!Haha!!!! grizzly4 - 2009-09-01 09:13:00 |
| The patterns I have bought are starting to arrive! Time to find room on my sewing table for new projects. Trouble is there are still only 24 hours in the day!!! grizzly4 - 2009-09-02 17:47:00 |
| The last few nights I have not knitted or crocheted a stitch. I have been so busy with work I fall into bed late. I am having a break now as my SIL is home for a month so I can have time off from minding Little Miss. This means I can do all the stuff for work during the day and I have my evenings back apart from the phone calls. I hope I never have to do this again. Talk about time consuming. Ordered some dishcloth cotton so I will have fun doing small bits and pieces for xmas presents. About the bike grizzly. We stayed at a small hotel years ago and a young chap had a Harley. He spent ages giving all 3 of us older women rides on his bike. Bless him. We were down there whitebaiting. makerealbany - 2009-09-02 22:04:00 |
| I am hoping to finish a wee dressing gown for the shop this morning if I ever get off this computer! We sell flanelette pyjamas but have never sold nighties because of fire risk. Do you know of any regulations around selling nightwear that might affect my selling dressing gowns? I have fire labels to sew on. grizzly4 - 2009-09-03 08:46:00 |
| Have finished the dressing gown. I made a Size 3 in girl colours for a change. Haha. I was also able to download the NZ Safety standards for children's nightwear so I am all sorted. grizzly4 - 2009-09-04 08:20:00 |
| That is good about the NZ Safety standards Grizzly. I spent today just visiting my daughter and playing with my grandson. I did not do a lick of work and feel much better having the whole day to laze. Ha ha. I get Helmet hair all the time but that is from my hats. Lol. I am a hat girl in the winter. Hides a multitude of greys. Ha ha. I have to work on my reports all weekend to send off on Monday. Never mind after next Fridays meetings to present the findinds I will be a lot happier. makerealbany - 2009-09-05 00:33:00 |
| Daughter bought a new Fridge Freezer. A big double doored Stainless steel one. We had great fun getting it into the house after we got the other two out. I at lest have my freezer in the cottage now which is great. I am continually amazed at what I can fit in this space. Ha ha. I did need my freezer though. I only had the one above the fridge and it is not enough. I could not freeze many veges or fruit from the garden. My son and SIL ended up taking out a kitchen cabinet in the house to fit in the new one. My daughter and DIL encouraged that. Ha ha. Daughter has to get a new kitchen so she is getting rid of it piece by piece. She also bought a new gas Hob. makerealbany - 2009-09-05 19:37:00 |
| I am pleased for her She has a better organized kitchen now and she deserves one. She works really hard in her job. It is cold here tonight. I have the heater going so I am warming up. My 2nd granddaughter is going to her first Ball at school. She showed me her dress. She is really excited. Takes me back years. Lol. How did you get on with that darn Landlord grizzly. makerealbany - 2009-09-05 19:42:00 |
| Smartgirl how are you? Hope you are not sick still. makerealbany - 2009-09-05 19:43:00 |
| Just finished another report Hands are sore but what a sense of achievement. Must do another tonight so no rest for the wicked. No knitting either. Sigh. makerealbany - 2009-09-06 22:07:00 |
| This message was deleted. trapper6 - 2009-09-06 22:49:00 |
| You are working so hard roll on FRiday for you! I didn't realise Smartgirl has been sick. Hope you are feeling better, smartgirl. We miss you! Only a fleeting visit th9is weekend from my son and his familiy and my daughter's family have been really sick so they stayed home all weekend, too. Amazing what I got done. Started the spring cleaning, finished a wee jersey for the shop and went on a big bike ride yesterday. Too cold, though, could barely get off it when we got home. grizzly4 - 2009-09-07 08:10:00 |
| The weather will get warmer Then you will be off gadding about on your bike Grizzly. It was lovely today here although I spent most of the day on another report. Sent it off 10 mins ago. Only 2 more to do. I am going to visit my friend when she moves down. They have the plans for their house but Hubby is still working in Hamilton so they won't start building until they have been to England and Rarotonga. They amaze me those 2 whip a wells. Lol. Yes we do miss smartgirl. I will try and catch her on Sunday. makerealbany - 2009-09-07 21:59:00 |
| With these lovely new patterns that have arrived I have started looking at fabric again, Went to Fabric Vision for the first time in years (a massive attempt to avoid Spotlight) and found beautiful fabrics. One was to die for at $90.95 per metre!!!! Everything pales in comparison when you love something like that. grizzly4 - 2009-09-08 08:56:00 |
| Finished those reports. Yeepee That fabric sounds stunning grizzly. I am going down to work on Thursday night. Work Fiday and Maybe Sat. Be home Sunday. Back down to work on Tuesday and Wednesday than that is it for the month apart from 2 small reports. I want some curtain wire for nets but no time at the mo. My cell phone is nearly dead so I have to get a new one tomorrow. I am so glad SIL is home. Took bubs to Mainly Music this morning. New Playgroup tomorrow morning and then Kelly Tarltons on Thursday morning. Talb about run!!!! Have a Playgroup meeting tomorrow night as well need to finalise closure. Drat. Lovely day today managed 30 mins in the garden this arvo with SIL and bubs racking out all the mulch we were putting into the garden. Lol. makerealbany - 2009-09-08 23:10:00 |
| Whew! I get tired just reading your messages! I can relate to the cell phone business. I got a new one a couple of months ago and it fell off the kitchen table the first week I had it. Can't believe it broke the screen inside and can't be repaired!! Been muddling along trying to guess the texts but it's time for a new one this week. grizzly4 - 2009-09-09 08:39:00 |
| What fun I had geeting my new phone I had changed from Prepay to a monthly account. They rang me as they had a special deal. Said they would send me a voucher for $120 to purchase a new phone as mine was nearly had it. Got it as a pressie years ago. Anyway after a month I rang, was put on hold while they checked, Blah, blah. Said they would send me another voucher by text. Rang again 2 weeks later. Said they had sent it. I never got it so they sent it again. Still did not get it by this time I was getting fed up. Rang again and after 2 hours of mucking around they sent me a text and said to ring back in 5 mins if I had not received it. Yep thats right. I did not get it Rang again on the 1st Sept. They finally decided my old phone was not able to receive their text. Dah. I receive eveyone elses plus all their deals etc. Gave me the code over the phone. I go in at 4 today and the code had expired which is exactly what I felt like doing.!!!! makerealbany - 2009-09-09 22:57:00 |
| So I ring the call centre Go through the whole saga with 3 operators and finally get told that I should have redeemed it earlier. I patiently explained to her by law you cannot redeem something you do not have. I consider this contract with you null and void as you have not kept your side of the agreement. The young man smiles at me and after 5 mins of hanging on she then tells me I have $150 credit entered on my account. I get my phone off the young man who also hands me a piece of paper with all the details. Operators name, date and time of call and his name. Just in case I have any more probelms he says. I go off home with a headache for a cuppa. makerealbany - 2009-09-09 23:04:00 |
| I will be off to Rotorua tomorrow grizzly Probably catch up with you Sat or Sun. Dont let us fall off. Hope smartgirl is okay. makerealbany - 2009-09-09 23:07:00 |
| I hope she is too! As for my phone, I went in and the deal was done in 5 minutes flat. The one I replaced was free when I renewed my contract. It was a real pain when it slid off the kitchen table. Have a good trip and I hope your meeting goes well tomorrow. grizzly4 - 2009-09-10 08:55:00 |
| Not sure whether to be relieved or disappointed. Was supposed to have 2 of my grandsons overnight as their parents are working late. Plans have changed as they are both not well and my son is staying home with them. I hope they don't have the awful bug that my youngest grandson and his MUm & Dad had last week. Amazing how willing my son is to look after them when they are sick, thought he would have run a mile. grizzly4 - 2009-09-11 08:29:00 |
| I am finally up and going I just got my computer back, I have missed it so much my hands are shaking with the excitement. I am so sorry to have missed you makereal, n ext time. smartgirl - 2009-09-11 12:30:00 |
| Welcome back and very pleased to hear it was your computer not yourself that was ill. I bet you have had some reading to do to catch up, haha. Kind of like watching Days of Our Lives! grizzly4 - 2009-09-12 08:29:00 |
| It is grizzly I though it was better to talk first read later. Its great to be back. What did we do before computers. smartgirl - 2009-09-12 09:03:00 |
| Mmm let me see.... I probably would have done more housework before work if I wasn't checking auctions and messages each morning! Haha! grizzly4 - 2009-09-14 08:18:00 |
| Hi girls So good to hear from you smartgirl. Still in Rotorua working for my Charitable Organisation. Will return home on Thursday. I am working all day well into the night but it is worth it. I am pleased to find I still have a lot of commom sense. Ha ha. Meetings tomorrow and Staff Appraisals to do on Wednesday and that will be it. I am sure I have lost a couple of kilos. Lol. No time to eat except tea. Catch you two later. makerealbany - 2009-09-14 17:06:00 |
| You won't know yourself... makerealbany, when you get home! All that knitting and gardening that's waiting for you. How is your family these days, smartgirl? I guess you've been just as busy without your computer. grizzly4 - 2009-09-15 08:17:00 |
| I'm doing something a bit different for the shop.. a crochet babies blanket. Used to do them years ago. You have some beautiful sets up for sale, smartgirl. You have been very busy. grizzly4 - 2009-09-16 06:58:00 |
| Bump.... till everyone is back. grizzly4 - 2009-09-17 08:23:00 |
| Hi grizzly4 ...I'm Jane & will have a wee chat with you while the others are away! I've often browsed your thread & had to smile when I read about your 'hippie' bike. I know all about helmet hair too as my hubby recently bought a Harley cruiser ... lots of fun! I enjoy crafts & have recently got back into knitting for our our first grandchild, born 3 weeks ago! My daughter tells us we're in our mid-life crisis ... "grandparents riding a Harley"! ruie - 2009-09-17 09:21:00 |
| Hi Jane, I'm Jo, I am glas you have joined our thread. Congratulations on you 1st grandchild. This is a great thread and has been going for ages. Now I have my computer back I keep forgeting to use it. I never thought I would say that. smartgirl - 2009-09-17 10:42:00 |
| SMARTGIRL!!! How can you say that, really! Hurry up and get back into the swing of things! Hi Jane, good to hear your feedback on 'the days of our lives'! Hubby and have found the opportunity to do a few things we remember doing back in our early days. Haha! Last friday night we went into 'town' for dinner and a look through the shops that aren't in suburban malls. Nothing was open after 6.00pm except outdoor adventure shops and eateries. We couldn't believe it! And no-one can tell us when 'town' decided to close early. grizzly4 - 2009-09-18 08:49:00 |
| Thank you for the welcome ... Golly Jo you do some very beautiful knitting ... your layettes are just gorgeous! Grizzly, we sometimes ride with the Harley Owners Group (HOG) in the weekends ... they have organised rides, usually about 3-4 hours round trip with a stop midway at a cafe or pub somewhere. Normally 20-30 bikes turn up for the ride ... it's quite a buzz riding in a group! ruie - 2009-09-18 11:09:00 |
| Hi girls nice to hear from you Jane I got home on Thursday. Ran for two days to catch up with things. Dah!!! My SIL changed password on main computer and I was offline. Lol whilst ripping hair out. All good now. Just feel like a bike ride you two and I am very jealous picturing you two cruising around on your bikes. Hi Jo so nice to see you are up and running again. makerealbany - 2009-09-20 09:28:00 |
| I am off to Orewa to help my girl Put up grandson's cot and to plant her vege garden. I could not beleive how much I missed the babes. My granddaughter has Tonsilitis but hugs me everytime she sees me. My flu vacine is due and I might need it ha ha. Little K is rolling around the floor and never stops laughing and smiling. Such a happy little boy. Our family has a lot to be thankful for. Have a great day girls. makerealbany - 2009-09-20 09:32:00 |
| I had a lovely family day yesterday, too. Just my son & daughter and their littlies. No offense to their partners, but our time together is quite different when they aren't there. Both couples are struggling a bit at present and it was good for them to have some time out, I think. grizzly4 - 2009-09-20 10:31:00 |
| Yeah, well that didn't happen. Did the inside of the windows but just too cold to play with water yesterday. Cars didn't get a wash either. Sat in the sun indoors and did some cross stitch. There are 8 pages to this one and another evening or so will finish page 3. Knitted dolls bootees when my eyes got tired. I hope you had great weekends, everyone. grizzly4 - 2009-09-21 08:00:00 |
| My car badly needs a clean As well grizzly. Did not have time today maybe tomorrow. Knitted a dishcloth whilst little miss was asleep. I got some of that dishcloth cotton from TM. The cotton is soft. Nice to knit. I have seriously started my xmas stuff. Just am so aware how much time I have left to make things. Yes I will be around for a ride. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2009-09-21 20:04:00 |
| Mine needs a good clean too we must surely be able to blame the grandkids for the mess and our crafts for taking all our time. I did some dishcloths a while back but I am not sure if I like them or not. It may have been the cotton I used. smartgirl - 2009-09-21 21:58:00 |
| I'm not blaming craft for taking up my time. I'm blaming WORK! I want more time to do more craft. grizzly4 - 2009-09-22 08:48:00 |
| I had a good laugh when I read Your comments girls. I need more time for craft too. Had a bad afternoon with the old gall bladder giving me hell. It is just settling down. Thank heavens. I do not fancy going to a emergency clinic and paying $75 for an after hours shot. I am having fun with these dishcloths for pressies smartgirl. They look and feel good. I need to test one out. I looked after little miss this morning and she has just started bossing me around. "Come Nana" she says dragging me in the direction she wants to go. She is better at painting now, which means she does not try to lick the brushes. Lol. I should be as thin as a rake the way I run after her but alas that is not the case. Sigh!!!1 makerealbany - 2009-09-22 20:23:00 |
| Ouch! Gall Bladder pain is one of the worst, I reckon. Had mine removed 22 years ago when the scar left is 10 inches long. At least they can do it keyhole now, thank goodness. I do feel for you during those attacks, makerealbany. I hope you have the good drugs. I was pregnant with my daughter when mine went to pack but lasted 5 years before surgery. I remember being determined not to be in hospital for the required 2 weeks in hospital and arranged for my Mum to spend the days with me, getting kids organised etc. Trouble was I panicked about the housework before Mum arrived that first morning and remember vividly on hands and knees cleaning the toilet before she got there and swearing the kids to secrecy. The things we do!!! grizzly4 - 2009-09-23 08:19:00 |
| I have had mine out as well but not until I had 3 stays in hospital first. Mine was rotten and they did try key hole sugery but then had to open me up to get it out properly as it started to break up. When I was in hospital having an attack one of the nurses told another patient (who had just had her breast off) that the pain was worse that a heart attack smartgirl - 2009-09-23 10:12:00 |
| Mine is higher up than it should be So I have been told. The last attack was over six months ago. I did think about surgery and I always say next time. Ha ha. I avoid hospitals if I can. Settling down now but I am too scared to eat solid food yet. I will give it another couple of days. Finished most of the stuff for Playgroup and they are picking up the toys, etc tomorrow. Another job done. I am off to get a Flu shot tomorrow. First one I have had. Doc told me to get it as it is free. Lol. Had to check job Applications for a vacant position and we only had one application so that was another easy job. I could do with a few more easy tasks after the hellish month I had. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2009-09-23 20:31:00 |
| Hi Jane I bet you are cruising around on that Harley!!!!!! Lucky girl. How is the knitting going. makerealbany - 2009-09-23 20:38:00 |
| Hi Margaret The knitting has taken a back seat at the mo as I'm decoupaging some wall-hung hearts which I'm hoping to sell. We looked after our little wee grandson this evening ... he's 4 weeks old now ... & our daughter bought him around in the little sweater & beanie I knitted him. Felt quite proud as it was my first piece of knitting in 20 odd years! Hubby rode his Harley on Sunday but I stayed home & pottered with my crafts. We'll probably do a group ride this weekend ... if the weather's good? ruie - 2009-09-23 22:43:00 |
| I've been advertising a job as well... Nearly $700 for 3 ads in the paper and only 5 people have rung. We have decided to merge 2 of our programmes for a while and provide transport. Had to make all the dreadful calls to the parents whose children we can't take any more. This same programme has been hit by swine 'flu and the recession this year. grizzly4 - 2009-09-24 08:42:00 |
| Yes that is a cool feeling Jane Seeing your grandchildren wearing your knitting. My daughter brought over my 5 month old grandson who is now rolling himself all over the carpet. He pushes himself forward so will be crawling soon. It is rather funny watching him smiling and yelling at his eldest brother who is 21. Ha ha. He also has a 15 year old brother and a 14 year old sister. He will be spoilt rotten by his siblings. makerealbany - 2009-09-24 20:23:00 |
| It is sad grizzly For the children and the parents. I felt sad this morning when I did the handover for Playgroup but there are so many things that affect families these days. I was talking to a worker at one of the Kohanga Reo and she told me they are losing children because familes are moving due to Domestic violence. Numbers are rising at our Refuge. More women are accessing the Emergency housing service and even Community cases are rising. That reminds me I have a report to write so I had better get a move on soI can watch the X Files later. makerealbany - 2009-09-24 20:41:00 |
