Thanx charlieb2 for starting this great thread it has been wonderful to see many old faces signing in and realising that although we all have many changes and challenges in our lives it is lovely to be amongst folk who are supportive and friendly( and we will not dwell on the couple of posters who have soured this friendly place in recent months!)
I have learnt so much and enjoyed testing out heaps of new stuff that i wouldnt otherwise have tried. So many thanx to all you generous people out in recipe land that have taken the time and effort to share your recipes, tips etc and may this thread be the reclaiming of the awesome place it has always been
Thought for the day...
Also remember to count your blessings ......
as there is always going to be someone far worse off than you....

Hi Julie ... my hand still gives me grief but I can live with it ... hopefully doing the Diploma in Chch will open new doors.
X-ray & next surgeon's appt in Sept - whatever the outcome, I'll get on with my studies ... one handed if need be!!! :) I don't want any more surgical intervention at this stage.

Hope all's well with you up there ... love the photo on your profile - your front garden?

Hi Rae.. I agree with Pam.. a great idea.. :-) Best wishes for the check on your hand in September - I hope it goes well..

Best wishes for your studies too.. what will you be studying..

Thanks about the photo.. it's in front of our sleepout - and includes the metal watering can my son asked a neighbour for - it had been sitting outside for years - he cut the bottom out, sanded and painted it all blue, then painted a lizard (we have them in several areas on my section here), a ladybird, a butterfly and some flowers.. Cut some holes in the bottom of a bucket, set it inside the can, added plants and 6 years later it still looks great :-)

Morning all ...

Thanks Julie. I'll be doing Diploma in Tourism & Travel Management. Not sure what it'll lead to yet ... time will tell.

That's a nice story about the watering can - especially now that your son is grown & moved away. A sweet reminder of him :)

Pam - that sounds like a great day! Nice for you & Brian to take some time out together ... and planning for a holiday is always good :)

I had a lovely evening with a friend in Takaka last night - it's a bitter sweet time knowing I won't see many of my friends here again for a while. But I am excited about my future & new friends I haven't met yet!

Have a good day - the sun is shining in Golden Bay & I'm off for a walk on the beach soon.

Pam - I'm green with envy!
Melbourne is such a great foodie's city - indulge & enjoy!!!
The spa treatment sounds good too - please make sure you come home again won't you :)

I'm suppose to be packing my car but it's raining at the moment.
Soggy boxes is one thing I don't need!

Looking out at a beautiful day and a flat sea (for a change). Seems it is flat during the week, and come the weekend rough. Oh to go fishing again. A BIG thanks to ALL the posters who have given us their recipes and tips, too many to mention. Have a great day everyone. Living by the beach and rural is just bliss. Wouldn't trade it at all for city life again.

Pam - that restaurant sounds wonderful!!! I just had a read through the menu - YUM!
It sounds like you are ready for a break - enjoy. Happy shopping at the fair too - I hope you come back with lots more nice kitchen tools & gadgets for the rest of us to drool over on your website (wish I could buy & not just dream - I'd spend a small fortune with you!)

Hi all
I'm sitting in a motel unit in Picton enjoying a cold beer.

A very trying & tiring day for me - said goodbye to miss 13 at 8.30 this morning ... she's off school with a rotten cold & in no mood to say seeya to Mum ...
saw ACC in Nelson at lunchtime about their support ending in 3mths for me ...
then drove via the Queen Charlotte Dive to Anakiwa to visit a memorial seat to my Dad for the 1st time ....
and now I'm done - emotionally & ... for the day.

Looking forward to a sunny drive down the coast tomorrow & a nice walk at Kaikoura around lunchtime.

Got to just keep looking forward ...

Well, I'm safe n sound in Chch.
Had a good trip today - the Kaikoura coast was fairly rough with an impressive swell.
Loads of seals were right up on the grass next to the road ... and nearly as many tourists taking photos of them!
I couldn't be a truck driver or Rep - I'm sooo tired from driving.
Off to my big bro's for tea tonight - hope I don't fall asleep on them!

Christchurch is much colder than Golden Bay!!!
I was freezing this morn - but it's lovely & sunny here now.
I'll start my apartment hunt next week & top of the priority list is a heat pump ... followed by off street parking & in walking distance of the city centre :)

Going to relax for a couple of days first.
Having beef stroganoff for tea tonight - winter comfort food!

Welcome Winnie231. Yes, you'll be needing your thermals here in chilly Christchurch! We are much colder than Golden Bay, but we do grow nice wine, lovely lambs and if you look west, those alps are pretty stunning! (I live out west - see, there's me waving!)

I hope you settle in quickly - what area are you looking at?
I remember we were going to briefly catch up last year when you came down to Cracroft House for your daughters Guides Camp - if you ever need a sounding board or a hand with something - don't hesitate to sing out.
Lots of luck with your new adventure. Tracy

Hi Tracy, and thanks.
The school trip involved alot of stress & I was on the bus back to Golden Bay when I remembered about ringing you - sorry.

I'm looking in or close to central city for an apartment as I want to be able to walk to the school which is Madras/Cashel Sts.
I'll be a poor student soon so in summer when you have excess garden produce - you know who to think of :)
Rae

Hi all,
it's a pretty damp, dull day here in Chch.
I've been out looking at apartments & come back to Mum's feeling rather dejected! My expectations & a Rental Agent's description of 'a lovely apartment' are worlds apart!!!
Mouldy, peeling wallpaper doesn't indicate warm & sunny in my books!!!
Hopefully tomorrow will be more promising.

Some nice comfort food of sausages, mixed mash, beetroot compote & coleslaw for tea here - not quite up to fisher's smoked roe but yum all the same :)
