Morning all Oh Liz a late congrats on your wedding, bet you were a beautiful bride, was your little lady a flower girl or was it like my wedding very low key and only close family. Ok so this thread has gone very quiet, I guess all the lovely ladies who were brave enough to confess their amounts of fabric have sorted it and its not an issue now and the ones who didnt confess are still just lurking hehe. So do we have an answer to the question 'can you have too much fabric' hmmm depends really how much you use and how well it is sorted in your room.....But even when you have built a stash often the right piece isnt amongst it and you have to buy hehe lol

Wow gorgeous Liz So your and your little girl are already gorgeous porcelaine dolls, hehe you didnt need an outfit for your bus trip you already are one ;) Thanks so very much for showing us. I have had a great day, I am putting together a quilt with appliqued bits on, remembered Doug 57 mentioning needleturn applique so googles that and its brilliant (Thanks Doug) talked to ladies at fabric shop and got white pen and freezer paper for hand quilting the quilt. So good day except decided to wash the cotton backing in the washing machine instead of handwashing before using it works fine, thought I had got all the fluff out of the machine....then one of my girls did a black wash oooooops hmmmm good thing I was given a lint roller for my b.day lol Have good nite everyone :)

Vent all you want Holly I have been known to encourage my friends and kids to moan to me about stuff, you feel so much better for it ;)Ok so much for saying above that I had more time hmmm still not enough arghhh I have 3 raggie quilts to make before Christmas 2 are ready for sewing together but one isnt yet and now I have started this other quilt with applique bits on that I want to hand quilt and have discovered the Sashiko stitches for quilting hehe. Have picked one out that I will do. One of my daughters is called Sachiko not quite same spelling but will add a little something special to it. Hmmm maybe that was a bit of a vent too ok got to get on with these. Doug57 dont know how you do what you do, maybe you know just dont waste time like I tend to be doing...ok off to sew...hope you all have a great day :)

How did that happen?? my stash grew again... whoops... also found out spotlight end of line fat 1/4s go for $2 rather than 3.99... unfortunately no signs pointing to the cheap ones

Liz :) Your quilts gorgeous, love the quilting well done. So good you found more fabric it would be really disatrous to run out haha just imagine if you didnt have a stash you couldnt of taken your little girl to your stash to pick her material and the quilt may never of happened and then that heirloom would never of existed aha now thats reason enough to buy buy buy hahaha lol

Oh I am so glad I am not the only fabric hoarder! The best fabric place in town closed down years ago - so I went there on the last days and got as much as I could. It is wonderful to open up my draws in my sewing room and see fabric I forgot I had - then my fingers start to itch..... :-)

honeybean - 2009-09-05 22:16:00

i spent an hour going through as much of my fabric as i could in that time (2 shelves.. little shelves), and tagged it with colour, type and even price paid if i could remember it... got some others that i know when and where i just cant get it on the paper if you get what i mean...

would appreciate some advice please I posted in your thread earlier about my sisters wish that her craft stash was put to good use - I have sort of got a lot of the fabric organised - should I put it in fabric types or colours - should I put it on as small amounts per auction - and where she has cut something out of a piece should I trim the bits off or leave it on in case they may be of some use- I have to get myself going as her husband wants it gone

gerry64 - 2009-09-05 23:13:00

types then colours well that would be my preference.

I think I'm in the running Hi Coalrange & all. I've just found this thread and think I might be in the running for the most, God help me! I've had to buy a shipping container to take the overflow! Plus have half a shed bay and a room down at my mums. Last count I had around 13 machines that I can think of off the top of my head! I'm to scared to do a real count!
Hubby has completely given up trying to talk sense to me. :-) Don't really get much time to sew but I do play with my fabric stash and dream alot. :-)

- Apart from Dreaming and playing with my Stash I don't really know how these message boards work but I'm sure I'll learn. It's just finding the time.
Um I usually sew for the family and a few special friends but limit it to special event dresses. Love doing evening wear. And have an addiction to silks and beading. :-) Have got a couple of weddings on the go at the mo to keep me from playing in my container! Mum's also wanting a cashmere dressing gown so that's on the list to.

Gosh Lyonheart They sound very flash ;) Ohhhhh your stash would look quite glamourous then ... not the cotton stash of quilters which we all love but I was just imagining all those kinds of fabrics all together wow.... :)

Hi Twilight Yes I love the fabric its soooo exciting what a fantastic selection ooooh the brain is working overtime here thinking what I can do with it Thankyou. Yes Hubby is TOTALLY understanding- he's into scuba diving and has a container set up with all the gear in which alot of it seems to somehow just appear in there hehe so whenever fabric arrives I get cheeky and say haha at least I dont have to sneak my addictions in ;) he has no comeback at all and just laughs its all good, he encourages me often and helps me with ideas for quilts which are often really good ideas. Have great day everyone, Im off to play with fabrics lol :)
