| Hi all. Thanks makerealbany, nice to be ... appreciated. Took some time out from the net to try to get some real life things in order, not very successfully. My tulips not to good either, probably cos i crammed them all into pots, they're all shorter than normal. But I'm thinking its the weather difference here too. bll - 2007-09-10 12:37:00 |

Now the sun is trying to peek out again, Well too bad. I have the kettle on and after my cuppa I am going to start some more Baby bootees. Got this excellent book from library 50 BABY BOOTEES TO KNIT BY ZOE MELLOR. Should get a pair done before friends arrive for tea. makerealbany - 2007-09-11 12:51:00 |

| Hi ayla Used to so smocking when my girls were little. They are 39 and 36 now so it has been a long time ago. Thought I might try it again when my new granddaughter is born. had a browse at your little dresses. Really cute. makerealbany - 2007-09-11 22:45:00 |
| Hi bll Was going to knit bootees then got off track and started knitting a hug me tight instead. You know how it is. makerealbany - 2007-09-11 22:47:00 |
| Hi grizzly This weekend will be the same for me as it was for you last weekend. What with J'S 4TH BIRTHDAY PARTY and family and friends here will not get any knitting done then. Hope the rest of the week is going well for you. makerealbany - 2007-09-11 22:51:00 |
| Hi Ayla Gorgeous little smocked outfit, I am really looking forward to a grand daughter! On a rescue mission for my son's turtle today. The things we mothers do. grizzly4 - 2007-09-12 08:27:00 |
| Turtle Hey grizzly did you find that turtle.Lost one on the farm years ago and the day I sold the farm saw it in the big pond. Was lost for 6 years. Son had built this baricade of concrete around a garden pond on the lawn but it obviously got out and headed for better pastures so to speak. makerealbany - 2007-09-12 14:18:00 |
| HI MAKEREALBANY AND GRIZZLY THANKYOU FOR YOU LOVELY COMMENTS. ayla47 - 2007-09-12 17:01:00 |
| Turtle (her name is Chartreuse) wasn't lost but she keeps smashing the thermostat in her tank. Must have done it overnight and was pretty cold by morning, her fish buddy died unfortunately. My son kept her in warm water in the kitchen sink until the new thermostat was installed. All good now. grizzly4 - 2007-09-12 17:31:00 |
| Chartreuse is a real lucky turtle to have such a caring owner and mum of course. We do get very attached to our pets. I just wish my two dogs would stop chasing one of my cats. Dayla always runs off so they chase her. Jed sits there giving them the eye and they steer clear of him. Paku a foxy and Patch a mixture of who knows what(my daughter rescued him as apup from the animal shelter)think Dayla is playing but if they ever catch her they will be SORRY. They know I will put them both in their delux dog run after they chase her and they still do it. makerealbany - 2007-09-12 21:57:00 |
| grizzly Had a peek at your knitting. Lovely!! I have to learn how to put pictures on my computer and I can show you some of my efforts. makerealbany - 2007-09-12 21:58:00 |
| I have my 3 girls (cats of course)Mac, Flurry & Jinx. All 7years old this year. Mac & Flurry are pure white sisters named after the McDonald's icecream a few years back.(Thought Mac was a boy at the time!)But they are both really well named as Mac is 'the boss' and Flurry is the bimbo always in a flurry. We adopted Jinx from our daughter, when she was 3 months old, grizzly4 - 2007-09-13 08:50:00 |
| makerealbany so if you don't sell your knitting on TM what interesting deals are you making on here? grizzly4 - 2007-09-14 09:11:00 |
| Craftwise that is! grizzly4 - 2007-09-14 09:12:00 |
| Only buying Hi grizzly. Have not sold anything yet. I have been renovating my cottage and everything is packed up. That is why I have been buying only. Managed to accumulate 5 boxes of wool in under a year. I do a lot of knitting and crochet for my family though. Started mosaics last year and have been storing tiles for projects I plan to do as soon as I have the room. Have made a few items for my family. Really love mosaics. makerealbany - 2007-09-14 23:00:00 |
| Gardening is another love of mine and have cuttings and bulbs in pots all over the place waiting until work in the yard is finished. Have made some outdoor mosaics for the future gardens. ha ha. Seriously there are gardens here that I have been trying to clean out. Probably never weeded. Lots of native bush and patches of tangled trees. Can only work at it for a short time and back gives me gyp, so I take time out and work at my crafts. makerealbany - 2007-09-14 23:07:00 |
| Me too with the gardening. Just moved into this house 4 months ago so waiting to see what is going to come up this summer. Have enjoyed the recent fine weather putting in bedding plants and a couple of new roses. grizzly4 - 2007-09-15 18:51:00 |
| Party over Well we had my grandson's 4th Birthday Party and I am wacked. Only some of the family here now including the Birthday boy. Have cleaned up and the rest of the family are laying around watching tele. We have worked so hard for the last two days but it was worth it. We had babies from 6 weeks. 8 in all then toddlers and my oldest grandsons 17 and 19 as well as all the parents. It was a glorious day in Albany and we all had fun. Must look at auctions I am bidding on and tonight for once I am off to bed early. Night all. makerealbany - 2007-09-15 19:35:00 |
| gosh MA, you've been so busy! I feel exhausted just reading about it! oo and yay for me too, thanks! bll - 2007-09-15 20:34:00 |
| A much more relaxing weekend this week! Even got to do some cross-stitch while baby grandson was napping. Lots of gardening thanks to the great weather. Finishing a baby jersey this evening for the 'Patch. grizzly4 - 2007-09-16 19:24:00 |
| bll Isn't success great?. Was pleased I won my auctions. While I was grating the lemon rind for the Lemon meringue Pie for the party I could see little orange buttons. ha ha. makerealbany - 2007-09-16 21:56:00 |
| Hi grizzly You lucky girl cannot wait for my grand daughter to be born not due until 29th Dec on her Mum's 38th Birthday. All the babies were passed around to be held and fed. My other daughter(midwife) and her friend(Nanny) were dismayed to find that none of the little darlings were breastfed. Most of the Mums were working though, One of the neighbours gave me a box of plants to help fill the spaces I have cleared. Do that tomorrow. Went to another soccer tournament today in Huiapai to watch my grand daughter and raced over to Henderson to pick up some tiles. I will put some around the bath in the cottage and use the rest for other projects. Got all these paving stone images in my head. Made up a kind of mold but need to make or buy others. I want a round one now. makerealbany - 2007-09-16 22:09:00 |
| You sound like a DIY expert that would put the blokes to shame, makerealbany! grizzly4 - 2007-09-17 07:56:00 |
| hi everyone, how are you doing Zoe? I have been lurking in the background lately..... my MIL passed away this evening, a very short battle with cancer. She was a very special lady. I finished off a L/O for her yesterday, that I would like to share with you. woolshed3 - 2007-09-17 19:15:00 |
| Not really grizzly But bringing my 5 children up after being widowed made me learn a lot of things fast. After marrying again a few years later and then being widowed for the second time ten years later I got pretty independant. Have tiled one side of the bath today and that was enough to give the old back gyp. It is so frustrating when you want to finish a job and you just physically cannot. Moan, moan. Never mind I will give the back a rest for a day and try again. Going to sit and knit. makerealbany - 2007-09-17 19:21:00 |
| bll Going into town Wednesday. Will bank then hope that is okay girl. makerealbany - 2007-09-17 19:23:00 |
| woolshed your page is lovely. makerealbany - no worries. bll - 2007-09-18 07:42:00 |
| Love your photo tribute, woolshed. Thinking of you during this sad time. Lost my father-in-law 8 weeks ago. Take care of yourself and your family. grizzly4 - 2007-09-18 08:27:00 |
| Hi woolshed Beautiful tribute. My thoughts are with you. Lots of love and hugs to you and your family. makerealbany - 2007-09-18 09:09:00 |
| Still miss my Dad grizzly Dad died 5 years ago and I often think of him and my Second father in law who I got on with really well. Especially when I am gardening or trying to make a structure in the garden. They both taught me a hell of a lot and they had a wicked sense of humor so gardening was always a laughing and singing time. makerealbany - 2007-09-18 09:15:00 |
| Hi Zoe How are you babe? makerealbany - 2007-09-18 09:15:00 |
| Raining here this morning but can't complain, the garden is loving it! Would love to stay home and knit today. Trying to fit in an hour of cross-stitch before I go in for my first client at 11. How is everyone? grizzly4 - 2007-09-19 09:52:00 |
| Fine here Great day here but had to go and do some chores for my invalid son. By the time I whipped down the motorway to Remuera, did the work , drove back to Wairau Park to look at curtain material in Spotlight, went to the bank, Library and drove home again I felt as if I had run a marathon. I think it was finishing that tiling off the day before. Curtain material is so expensive. Had a look at all the curtain sales. So many choices. Spotlight had these mystery packs for $5. Got one for my grandaughter. Had all sorts in it. Great for a rainy day. makerealbany - 2007-09-19 22:03:00 |
| When we moved into this place we decided to replace the drapes for 3 bedrooms. In the end we bought ready mades from the Warehouse because they were a great price and the right colour at the right time. Saved a lot of work as I have always made my own. grizzly4 - 2007-09-20 08:10:00 |
| May do the same. I have browsed there as well grizzly. After pricing all the materials and tapes etc I think you are right. Going to make a decision this weekend. Knitting a poncho for baby. After knitting for adults baby gear knits up so quickly. Did a beanie and finished some woolen leggings last night. Have to grout the tiles but need to buy some more grout first. makerealbany - 2007-09-20 16:06:00 |
| yep - all depends on who is having the sales and on what. I got fabric on special from Spotlight to make curtains when we built a studio, but when we replaced the bedroom curtains it was impossible to turn down 20% off 50% off readymades -yep, that's 60% off total. also spotlight. bll - 2007-09-20 19:40:00 |
| 70% ? I agree - a very good deal. grizzly4 - 2007-09-21 09:28:00 |
| LOL no, it's only 60% I'm afraid. eg. 50% off $100 leaves $50. 20% off that leaves $40. Still - great price. bll - 2007-09-21 15:04:00 |
| oops shouldn't try maths too early in the day, should I? grizzly4 - 2007-09-21 19:14:00 |
| This message was deleted. beatricemartha - 2007-09-22 10:59:00 |
| Curtains Hi Girls, went to Harvey Furnishings and bought my curtains at a fantastic price. Got 4 pairs for ranchsliders(originally $274.00 a pair) and 5 pairs for the windows (originally $174 a pair) plus 10 metres cord to make tiebacks and I paid $302 for the lot. How is that for shopping. I am very pleased indeed. Although I was told there may be small imperfections I checked them out and they are fine. makerealbany - 2007-09-22 22:45:00 |
| Laces and Ribbons Was told my a neighbour to check out Ike's Emporium for laces and ribbons etc. Popped in to the one in Orewa as I am up there at lest three times a week and spent a small fortune. Got the ribbons and buttons I needed for all the knitting I have done. They were so inexpensive it was great. Apparently they have these shops all over Auckland. makerealbany - 2007-09-22 22:51:00 |
| Socks Grizzly how hard is it to knit socks with a set of 4 needles or do you knit them some other way. Can you recommend a good pattern book? Would like to have a go. makerealbany - 2007-09-22 22:56:00 |
