Quite right that you should have the 00 slot popeye - you started this great thread. Not that I would have noticed the number but. what a lot of "chat" there has been and all very interesting

Morning everyone.

Happy Birthday to your Mr Carol... My friend from here B1anca is 33 today .

Am feeling quite good this morning. Very little coughing now. Except if I laugh lol.

Not a lot planned for today. Have to post a parcel and will then knit.

Have a good day all

morning ladies and happy birthday to MrT and B1anca :)
Good to hear you are on the mend popeye, it's been a long haul for you. Might do some more stumpwork embroidery this afternoon, I have an idea what to do with the piece I'm working on but it is going to take time and patience!
Happy knitting :)

I recently took up knitting again after years of resting the needles. Nice to keep the hands busy while watching tv. Knitting little beanies for "Beanies for Babies", simple to do and for a worthwhile cause.

poopeye might be the best person to answer that Carole :)
Well it was wishful thinking I would be paid today so another toll call to the school asking them to chase it up. dammit!
Looks like rain today so inside stuff for me. Have just finished knitting Jemima Puddleduck :) and need to sew her and stuff her. Will finish her today.
Happy knitting :)

Morning all.
Carol113, spotlight does a good one, Its Marvel, 8ply acrylic. Col 1060. Its a nice pale light pink
Deramores has a Hayfield one, Bonus DK, Extra Value. But it is a bit darker than the spotlight one.
I prefer the Spotlight one myself. I make a lot of toys. And I think when it comes to the body parts of toys I like the Marvel cos its firmer. Which means they stand and hold their shape better.

My darling Bobcat brought us another present this morning, another bird., feathers all over lounge and dining room. so had to clean those up before anything. Charming boy not lol

Im above the armhole on the cardy.. And over half way on the second strip of my blanket. not often I have tow projects on the go, but I knit the blanket when Im in bed watching tv at night lol.

Foggy here. Add to that road works out the front and the fog keeping the sounds down its quite noisy. The school is going to have distracted kids I think.

Kiwimade, dare I ask did you get your pay this week ok?

Pea souper here this morning, but I'm hoping it will clear. Not sure how cold it was as last night I actually remembered to set the timer on the heat pump, so it was going when we got up. Not going to stitch and bitch today, I don't feel like sitting down there in these damp conditions, 'cos even though my back is slightly better I now have a sore throat. I have to go out and check the mail and go to the library at some stage today, but other than that I think I will sit in my comfy chair and do some knitting - that will be a change!! Someone bought a pair of gloves from me at the weekend and wanted a scarf to match, and of course I didn't have a matching scarf, not enough yarn to make one, so I am doing another pair of gloves and a matching scarf in a very similar yarn to the original gloves. Isn't that just typical.

Happy knitting everyone.

lol you can ask popeye and no I didn't. So I've called the school and they are going to chase it up. So that's two pay rounds I have missed out.
Welcome to the thread dutchy :) It sure is nice to have your hands busy isn't it.
Sun is trying to come out so maybe it won't rain. Spent the last half hour chasing the ducks off the main road (heard cars tooting their horns at them) so they are now on TradeMe. I couldn't bear it if they caused an accident so MrK and I have decided they need to go. They usually live down by the creek behind us and come up to the house for food but since the drought last summer they have been wandering more than usual as our creek was dry until April.
happy knitting :)

Naughty bobcat eh!!Dont you just love those little pressies..I hate it when they bring the body remainder bits inside. That has me drywretching lol
Really should be giving my knitting a rest as I have developed really itchy excema between my fingers..But I enjoy my knitting too much to put down.Bought a gorgeous doll pattern whch I want to knit. Not sure who I am going to give it too thoughLol..But the dolls clothes are knitted in 4 ply which I find so slowwwwwwwwwww.

Hi Dutchy, and welcome to our thread. We are a friendly and helpful lot in here.
I don't think I could imagine not knitting again now.
Carol I cant knit mohair I get all sinusesy etc. Amazing what wools can do.

Oh Kiwimade, what a pain in the butt. It must ne dammed frustrating. The ducks we used to have when I was a kid were durbrains and liked to play chicken on the road, rather than be in the huge pond we had. Love the eggs for baking tho

Carol you can always list the toy if you don't have anyone to give it too.

Morning all, Pea Souper here too.. But we are madly going out in it.

Used to fog tho so its not too bad.

Off to Puke to get a Christmas present, sounds Mad eh, but I had a brilliant thought and happened to find what I wanted on special. So will get that today.
Then groceries again, arghhh we would be rich if we didn't have to eat eh lol.
Have a good day all. need to get back for a pick up so going to get myself sorted

Out of curiosity Ive just looked back to see when I started MrPs jacket.. Was the 19th of July.. So 3 weeks tomorrow. And all done while Ive been sick.
Have just finished the second front and started the rib on a sleeve. Just the sleeves and collar to go.
Not bad going for me.

Its been a glorious day today, lovely weather. not too much wind so the windows are all open blowing away bugs.

Hope everyone has had a fab day.

Whiskey the pattern arrived today.. Its lovely. Cant wait to get into that...Thank you

morning! I'm off to work today, have a day's relief teaching :) wahooo lol, love it in the classroom :). The school phoned about my pay and told me according to No-pay I had been paid so I'm taking in my bank statements to prove otherwise. Wonder who got my money? grrrrrrr....
Happy knitting ladies, and do some extra rows for me :)

Morning All. A lovely day to be had here. Heavy dew but no fog yay.

Geez Kiwimade that must be soo frustrating. What ages do you teach?

Yay the Electrician is meant to be coming today. Having no lights in the kitchen is horrible.
Where the kitchen is, it gets the afternoon sun but it shines directly onto the stainless steel bench and blinds you. So I have to shut the curtains, which then do too much of a good job and I end up having to have the lights on.
Have to go post a parcel this morning and then fold a pile of washing. Then I can knit Yay

Will do some on yours Kiwimade, what are we knitting lol?

popeye333 - 2013-08-09 08:43:00
1929

popeye - I had the same problem with the afternoon sun on the stainless steel bench at my previous house, and we solved the problem by putting up a nice wooden venetian blind (which fitted perfectly and we picked up at the op shop for $5) because I could lower it and tilt the slats just enough to keep the sun from blinding me, but still let enough light in.

I have to go out today to post a parcel too, and then I'll fold washing too if it's dry by then. Put it out yesterday but not till late, so it won't be dry yet. Hope it dries before our wet weekend starts. I hate using the dryer - it costs money that can be used for other things so I only use it as a last resort.

kuaka - 2013-08-09 09:36:00
1930

Kuaka that sounds perfect. I might look into finding a blind. Still haven't heard from the sparky yet.
Washing is folded but the Bob Cat is pressing it at the mo lol. I keep a towel to put over washing , cos Bob and our girl cat both liked pressing the washing for me. lol
Have done the ribbing on a sleeve now is the huge climb in the increasing lol
I use my dryer sparingly too. But find it doesn't make any difference to the power. I generally use it to finish things off, unless IM too sore to hang out washing, and then Ill bung it straight in there.

Took your advise Popeye and went to spotlight yesterday and bought the marvel wool in flesh tone.Looks fantastic..Would love to start the doll but am trying to finish some other projects first.

1932

Ohh That's good carol. its my fave one for faces. The one I got from England is a little dark.
Im plodding along with MrPs jacket... Just got the sleeves to do now. started 3 weeks ago so I don't suppose its too bad considering how sick Ive been too.
Have just asked my friend if she would like another of Jean Greenhowes big toys.
I want to knit the little vest that Whiskey sent me the pattern of, after the jacket but I will give myself a little break from the same wool as the jacket.

popeye333 - 2013-08-09 13:09:00
1933

well that's Friday done and dusted! I teach primary kids popeye and love it. I want to get some housework done this weekend, my sister is visiting as we are dog sitting her dog for a week or so while she recovers from surgery she is having next week. The Furry One will be thrilled lol and both dogs will be knackered by the end of each day :).
I'm knitting a wee pink beanie for our grandy :) to match the wee pink cardy (notice the pink theme lol). Our daughter and her partner are coming home next week so she can take all the knitting I have done and all the baby stuff we have gathered up/repaired/painted etc back with them.
I'll post pics of the cardy and beanie over the weekend in our FB group :).
happy knitting!

morning girls. I deleted my hat photos as Mr T got cross with me for putting it up god I looked ugly and old. I sent it to my grandkids they said they loved me which ever way I looked. Kiwimade have you tried out the wool yet???

carolev - 2013-08-10 06:59:00
1937

morning :) not yet carol, that's my next project :) Daughter and her partner will be here Wednesday so I should have time to make another wee jersey with it and they can add it to the pile of goodies we have for them. Just had a real urge to knit pink :).
Housework today, it won't take long. Compared to our house in town (sold to buy this one), this house is a breeze to clean. It's smaller and takes less time and I suppose with both kids having left home there isn't quite the 'mess' there used to be.
I really enjoyed being back on the classroon yesterday, great kids who were keen to learn. Had a lot of fun with them.
I'll post pics of what I have been creating later today/tomorrow.
Happy knitting :)

1938

Morning Ladies. Finally I think we may get the rain we have been expecting for over a week lol.
Bobcat very nicely just brought in another bird. Managed to get it off him, cos he's soo proud he likes to show mummy lol.. But I went to the door, and said to sparrow you better be able to fly this is your last chance. It did thankfully. Hes never caught so many in such a short space of time.

It was so nice being able to cook tea without bedside lights in the kitchen last night. Must ring landlord and tell them what the sparky did. A nail through the wire was the problem. A scary thought in a way, but Im not going to spend the rest of my life here thinking, What If.
MrP is having a sleep in. So I have the morning to myself which is nice once in a while.
Have a fab day everyone

Hi e everyone. Back from my big trip but its great to be home. My laptop died and is with computer geek in the family. My desktop is so slow and I have only just worked out how to get to the TM message board on my lovely new S3 phone I bought last week, lol.

Sounds like you all have been busy. Sorry you haven't been well Pops. Hope you get better soon.

Have finished a crocheted rug except for the edge and am now knitting a pair of socks for myself. In saying that tonight I have been cross stitching. Will probably be doing that for a while as its a well overdue birth sampler! Will just knit at my knitting group until the sampler is finished.

Will head off to bed now. Hope everyone's weekend is going well.

morning ladies and welcome home pats :). As whiskey says, there is nothing like sleeping in your own bed. I hate pain too carole, hope you have plenty of painkillers to help.
Busy day today, have to round up the ducks, one has been injured so we need to check her out. MrK thinks the drakes are 'playing rough'. Will have to make a descision about them if they don't sell.
Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2013-08-11 08:44:00
1947

Morning all. Welcome Home Pats... Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip. Any good wool shops there? lol

Glad your home Carole, rest up and keep the painkillers topped up. My prescription, panadol and 4mm needles lol.

Oh Kiwimade not good re the ducks. Drakes can be mean little sods. Ours met their maker and the casserole dish. The girls were much happier without the lads that's for sure.

Yesterday I saved myself $27 by very carefully undoing two rows of stitching on the top of the net curtain remnant from the curtain I used for the bathroom. Re hemmed it, found some curtain wire and hung it in the kitchen window. Thus not having to buy a venetian blind just yet. Its a little short for my liking so I dug deep to get the roll of lace I got from here years ago. Got with the purpose of, if a curtain was too short it could be added as a frill to lengthen said curtain.
So that's one of my jobs today, to take the curtain down and add a couple of inches. If it doesn't look right Ill end up getting blinds or a curtain from here. At least a curtain would be easier to wash I spose.
Didn't get much knitting done yesterday so will work on that later

Have a good day all

well done popeye on the curtain, I hope your lace edging has worked out. The duck will be OK, we'll just keep an eye on her. If they don't sell (have them listed here) then the drakes will be duck a l'orange :P.
Hope everyone who isn't well is on the mend :).
Happy knitting :)
