Zoe, how are you? I probably don't ask enough considering you started these wonderful friendships. Thank you very much and I hope you are enjoying our nonsense as much as I do.

Ditto to that Zoe Maybe smartgirl has heard from Zoe. Poor smartgirl I bet she is waiting to get her computer fixed. I am still waiting on mine. Lol. Was at my son's in Remuera which is on the Hamilton side of the bridge Grizzly. Finally left for home at 7pm. If I do not cross the bridge by 4 at the very latest I do not bother. I just wait at my son's.

Grizzly and smartgirl Remember bll Then there was westydogs and woolshed. Should go back thru the thread to see. I have not found what I want in my wool stash yet for my DIL. I want something that will be so fine it will go thru a ring as they say. A scarf she can crush into a pocket or bag. A really fine mohair maybe. I will keep looking. Finding other wool I cannot even remember buying or inheriting. Ha ha.

I am knitting white baby sox for an order for the shop. The customer sent in a pr of new born size she bought for her baby boy and wants the same pattern a few sizes bigger. Trouble is the pattern is in my head and scaling up isn't as easy as I thought. Here's hoping they fit!!

grizzly4 - 2009-05-19 20:53:00
1755

You will do it grizzly I cannot scale up I always end up confused. Lol. Have just been reading about certification for our little Playgroup, because I have accepted the Treasurer's role which is a breeze compared to past roles for Non Profit organisations. The M of Ed wants Playgroups certified but there is an adequate time frame so that is okay. It is cold tonight just perfect for knitting. Saw some lovely wool on here for my DIL's scarf but still undecided. She is worth it though so I may as well purchase it. There I have convinced myself. Ha ha.

I have been reading the Twilight series of books along with my daughter and DIL. So I have been listing my extra buttons to cover the cost of the books haha! You may laugh but I have sold enough to buy the last one even before I finish No 3!! I love TM!!! So handy to support my wee obsessions!

grizzly4 - 2009-05-20 18:33:00
1757

Clever girl It is really hard getting exactly the right buttons for garments so no wonder people snap them up grizzly. I have not even read the first Twilight one yet. I am reading an Anne Rice. ha ha. Just a little grotesque reading.

Playgroup Was fun today. Playing with playdough is good food for the soul. Ha ha. Got some nice mohair on here today. My girls love mohair hats and scarves. Also got some black courtelle for grandsons. They all want black beanies and scarves. Guess the cold weather has finally got to them all.

I am at my son's He needs a good woman. I am having a spring clean as both he and his son are away for the weekend. What a nightmare my grandson's room is. Yes I know this record of mine id familiar' Ha ha. I am babysitting Paws, their cat and I brought my knitting but I cannot relax in a mess. Unless it is my own mess. Lol. Shouls be finished by tea time and then I can knit. The ruddy landlord has taken down the clotheslines because he is cleaning up the section.

I have the sheets and duvets Hanging over the curtain rails to dry. This Landlord is so hopeless. There are 7 units here and no one can dry their washing. The drier is so expensive to operate these days. The lady next door kicked up a fuss because of portable lines on the verandah. She has easy access to her front door so I told her to take it up with the landlord. I put one out and there are 4 out there now. Looks like a laundry but what else can people do. There is a family in one of the units. Poor things. I have had one thing after another lately. Ah well those are the breaks.

Amazing how resourceful you are when needs be eh? Good on you. I've had a dreadful bug since Wednesday night and pretty shaky on it today still. Hubby had it earlier in the week so was expected I guess. Hope it's all over now I'd love to get things back to normal. Having said that Hubby startted his new job on Friday, he is so excited!!!! And looks so swish!!!! It has been dreadful weather but he was feeling very smug and snug at his desk rather than out in a truck. Haha.

grizzly4 - 2009-05-24 11:08:00
1762

I had to laugh at your description Of hubby at his desk. Wait until he comes home all wet and cold after checking his properties. He will need hot toddys and cuddles then girl. My no 2 son and his family are all sick with the flu and I am not feeling too chipper today. I am stuffing vit c down my throat. No 1 son not back yet but says he had an awedsme time. I am so pleased for him. He never goes anywhere socially except for whanau outings. Grandson is in Christchurch flying back this arvo. Is it cold there? He never took many winter clothes. Jolly yung adults cannot be told. Ha ha.

makerealbany - 2009-05-24 16:02:00
1763

Silly boy! It's been very cold and wet, wind chill has brought the actual temperature down to 3 or 4!!! Iknow what you mean about the young ones though. The girls are worse, I think.

grizzly4 - 2009-05-25 08:00:00
1764

Yes I often see young girls Running through town with next to nothing on. I cannot recall doing that myself. Lol. Went to GP. Got antibiotics as glands are swollen and I could hardly swallow my cup of tea. Making myself a concoction of crushed garlic and squeezed orange juice. Luckily I live alone. Ha ha. Pumpkin soup and toast for tea. Saw on one of the threads that there may be a knitting group in Albany. I will check it out.

makerealbany - 2009-05-25 18:45:00
1765

Hope your throat is better today! Wonder how smartgirl is and whether her computer is any closer to being fixed or replaced? Feeling close to normal this morning. Latest knitting project is a prem layette for the shop. Finding my eyes are starting to play up which is a b----! It's only been 15 months since I had my glasses changed. Must be all the craft!!

grizzly4 - 2009-05-26 07:50:00
1766

I remember you getting your glasses done last time grizzly. We have been on this thread for awhile ha ha. Think my daughter(mother of miss 17 months) is not too good today. She is having a scan to check but feels she has miscarried. She looked gutted when she left home. She has been working such long hours and things have been a bit stressful. My cold is in the headpounding stage but my daughter's loss seems to dull it somewhat. My SIL does not know what to do. Poor guy. Typical male says the wrong thing. Not his fault we all know men find it hard to communicate what they really feel.

makerealbany - 2009-05-26 09:51:00
1767

On a happier note My 3 weeks old grandson is thriving. He smiles at his siblings now. They come home from highschool and race to hold him. He is such a lucky little boy with heaps of love and affection lavished on him. Miss 17 months even gave her cousin a cuddle and a pat and then she was off. Ha ha. She has finally realized that he is real not a toy. She is on a beanie snatch too. Grabs all the hats and puts them on. Even wears 2 at a time. Lol

makerealbany - 2009-05-26 09:56:00
1768

My thoughts are with your daughter.... thats bad news for you all. I have found out that the doctor never made the referral to hospital when I saw her 2 months ago!!!
All this time I have been waiting for nothing. On top of that have woken up to a urinary tract infection. Can't seem to win lately, eh? 11 month old grandson has the tummy bug now and has passed it on to his Dad as well. My daughter living in fear.

grizzly4 - 2009-05-27 09:03:00
1769

Heavens grizzly That stupid doctor!!!! Your poor daughter and her family are having it rough too. My girl is strong but we all had a good cry. My older daughter came down with baby yesterday and spent the afternoon chatting and playing with the children. Helped take her mind of her loss for awhile. My cold is now the nose dripping, headpounding, wish I could disappear type. Lol.Both SILS are picking up a shed for me they got on TM. Although I may not be able to use it until after the next work cycle. I am pleased to have somewhere else to put things.

makerealbany - 2009-05-27 12:54:00
1770

Yes poor smartgirl must be still Waiting on her computer. Hi girl!!!!! How are you and your family.

makerealbany - 2009-05-27 12:55:00
1771

No matter how old they get or how on top of things they are amazing how it's always mum they need when things go bad. I almost thought daughter was being a free & easy with her sympathy for her partner and son yesterday when they were sick. Was a bit critical of her going to work, must admit. She rang me last night wiuth her head over a bowl, too. She might see it in a different light now! She was panicking that she needed to work today (yeah right!) or if she was sick B still needed to go to his carer so she can sleep. Good grief, remember the days when we were sick as dogs and managed toddlers and babies, still did the housework and had dinner on the table at 6!!!!!

grizzly4 - 2009-05-28 08:36:00
1772

Makereal, my heart goes out to your daughter and you of course. We have lost 2 wee babies like that and it is so hard. There is never a right time but there is nothing to show for it. Take care of yourself and make sure she takes the time to recover from this properly.

smartgirl - 2009-05-28 23:16:00
1773

You are right again grizzly I sometimes try to recall how I managed to run a business and bring up 5 kids after their Dad died. I only know I had to and that was that. Life was not easy but we coped. I still have the bug and there were so many of us ill we closed playgroup for the day yesterday.

makerealbany - 2009-05-29 20:04:00
1774

Hi smartgirl We all seem fragile at the moment. My Immune system is run down from all the tooing and froing with my kids. I need to win lotto and escape to a Pacific Island. Ha ha. My daughter is taking it hard and SIL seems very unsympathetic to her feelings at this time. Stupid boy. I have tried to talk with him but I really feel like I am talking to a brick wall.

makerealbany - 2009-05-29 20:09:00
1775

What a shame, They need to be able to depend on each other at these times. HUbby's work took us to dinner last night. I'm not great about meeting a lot of new people but they were all very friendly (most are real estate sales people! haha) and I had a great evening. I have a 4 day weekend this week qand the weather's not looking too wonderful so I might hibernate with my wool and needles.

grizzly4 - 2009-05-30 10:09:00
1776

If you win you have to take us with you wouldnt that be great, oh well, i can dream. I hope you are both having a great weekend. Hows your girl going, Makereal. I spent yesterday with my two wee girls and their mum. We went to cambridge for the moring. very nice. Now I have my 12 and 9 year old to stay the night. Miss 12 will take over the cooking as usual. How wonderful.

smartgirl - 2009-05-31 09:55:00
1777

Hi girls Up at Orewa with eldest girl. Baby is a bit of a handful so although I still have the bug I am keeping away from bubs and doing the washing. I cannot cook yet but am knitting up a storm. Granddaughter has persuaded her dad to take her and girlfriends away for the weekend so we only have teenage grandson who is a breeze to look after.

Meanwhile back at home Daughter is doing okay. I have to go back on Tuesday morning to mind little miss while her Mum goes to work and sil works on my shed. It was sunny here today which was nice. Not good now though.

makerealbany - 2009-05-31 16:29:00

I must still be under the weather I had to finish knitting a beanie for bubs that my daughter started and I followed the pattern. Did not even notice it looked weird until I began to sew it up. Was obviously made for a someone with a long head. Have to undo it. ha ha. I could roll up the brim but it is too small anyway. She tried it on him and we all had a good laugh. I usually just do a few beanie patterns but this was to complete a set she made so she wanted that pattern. Ah well something to laugh about on this chilly morn.

That site brought a tear to my eye! Very worried about my daughter, she still hasn't got better from the tummy bug she had last WEdnesday! Don't know whether it's because she's not resting enough or there's another problem. Told her to ring Healthline for some advice last night but then didn't hear back. Worried most of the night. She's at work this morning because she has end of month things to do. I don't know whether to be worried or just plain angry!!

Hi peppersha That book sounds great. Will see if I can get it in my library. I love gardening so it sounds interesting. Tears in my eyes too grizzly. Unwound that darn beanie and knitting my own pattern tonight.

I am going to try the basil tea I mixed up garlic and oranges and drank it. My poor stomach objected somewhat ha ha. I always wanted to spin wool but no sheep now.

Grizzly it is darn hard parenting Even at our age. Kids never do what we think is the logical thing to do. Yes we worry like hell about them no matter how old they are. My girl finally went into hospital this morning and was operated on and is now home. It is a slow process. Anyway at lest now if she gets pregnant again hopefully it will work out. She had a miscarriage before she had Miss M who is now nearly 18 months. Hope your girl gets better.

I'm not going to discuss it with her any further. She's just getting angry with me. She'll realise what she needs to do eventually, I guess. My son's not making some very wise choices either at the moment. It must be the time of the year or something. At 24 he still thinks he's immune to consequences it seems. I'll just wait in the wings to pick up the pieces.Grrrr...

Parenting, It never stops. Bl******y kids, who would have them. You are right grizzly, you have just got to sit back and wait. I have finally brought myself a new computer, cant afford it but harvey norman had a great deal going and I cant keep this one for ever.

1790

welcome back smartgirl I nearly got a new one myself but son says no!!!!! He is still working on it. Told me to be patient. Ha ha 2 months later, Sigh. Yes we always pick up the pieces but my kids do the same for me when I am down so lucky there. It just is so darn frustrating watching them leaning over cliffs. Starting to perk up a bit now I am not coughing, still sneezing though.

Finally got an appointment With the Radiologist to scan my darn foot. Yipee!!!!!! 8 months later and it still is not right. Bought more wool for my stash. Yes I know!!!! Could not resist. We have some lovely traders on here. Ha ha.

Hi peppersha I luv the colour green No wonder. I have lots of healing chrystals. They need to work harder. Ha ha. I used to love the feel of the greasy wool after we had shorn the sheep in the good old days. Sigh. You sound like the rest of us always on the go.

Well that is fast grizzly You will be so pleased to find out what the probelm is after all this time. Knitting another mohair scarf and beanie for my DIL,s Mum who has just had a major operation on her feet. The bones of her feet were sticking out. She has severe arthritis. Poor dear. They are going to try and put a boot on one foot this week after they cut the endsof the rods they have put in her feet.

Makes me shudder just to think about that Here I was moaning about the flu. She is a lovely lady and my son loves her dearly. I have felt guilty not seeing her but I have to wait. Do not want to give her any bugs after all that pain she is going through. She feels the cold and she really liked the mohair sets I have made for my granddaughter. Is a vibrant blue okay peppersha?
