| The rest home rang, I thought something had happened to MrP. but they have been given permission to have Compassionate Visits. So on Monday Ill be seeing MrP. It took me ages to stop crying while I smiled.. he was surprised when I rang early lol popeye333 - 2021-10-28 18:11:00 |
| morning ladies :) A wet day today so a good day for crafting. Thank you so much, crafts_corner for the warm welcome over at our new home and for archiving our thread :) There's so much 'chat' here lol it would be lovely to save it so we can refer back. Oh wow, popeye, that's awesome news. I bet you both can't wait for Monday :) Mica, those wee shoes you sewed (on Flickr & the other message board) are so cute! And your link worked perfectly. I meant to say (going back a few posts) how lovely for your family to be gifted a family portrait. It's not something we do very often, if ever. Yesterday I started sewing a border around the small quilt and should finish that bit today. And I've started another knitted square, it's quite mindless but can be done while watching the telly. I had my doc appointment yesterday and next Thursday I'll have surgery to remove the lump. He's confident it's benign but it needs to be removed anyway. We're lucky living where we do as we have a small hospital where these surgeries can be done and no waiting list as such. All public too. So no travelling to Waikato who at L3 point whatever, probably wouldn't do it anyway at the moment. If they did, I would be on a long list. It's given MrK a bit of a fright I think. I told him it was his turn to do the hospital run lol. Time to get cracking, I have a few chores to do and the sooner I start, the sooner I finish. Happy crafting :) https://tmmb.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?tid=523 kiwimade64 - 2021-10-29 07:15:00 |

| Morning everyone Ive settled down some from yesterday lol.. was such a good day. And I bet the time will drag until Monday lol It will be worth the wait. Glad you are able to get that lump out. My friends was tiny but they still took it out and some extra area around it. Hers was cancerous but cos they took the extra few mms they didnt need to go back in and she didnt need chemo or anything. Yesterday was another day without crafts. I have given our notice with spark.. And signed up for Skinny Jump through our library. The numbers I was given on Wednesday were wrong, But its even better. I get 30gb for $5.. no sign up costs, free modem. If I was to need extra Gbs they are 30 for $5.. With a limit of 150 Gbs. Its for the low earners, beneficiaries and pensioners etc who need it but cant pay the huge amounts that bigger companies charge. And the Bigger companies dont work to help low users. So Ill actually save $89 a month.. Im blown away. Today a little more secretarial stuff then its done and I can get back to the Santas. My fingers are telling me they have been too lazy lol. Gerry I re-read your message last night when talking to my friend, I would love some patterns so I can show her when she is allowed to come up. We wont be gadding about so she has promised to teach me how to read the patterns, she can also work of grafts too. Her Mum couldnt crochet so she found a tutor. Family portraits can be hugely expensive so a free one is awesome Mica. My sister had one done once she had recovered after her accident, they did it under a wonderful tree and they all sat or stood , Marie sat cos she was in a wheelchair, but it wasnt in the picture. It was Beautiful. Have a fab day everyone. popeye333 - 2021-10-29 09:20:00 |
| morning ladies :) It's an early start for me this morning as I want to beat the rain that is coming this afternoon. I have a bit of work to do in the garden the clematis needs tying up, a few weeds need pulling, edges need trimming and so on. It's certainly easier in the garden while the roses and plants are smaller and my heavy handed pruning earlier in the year has paid off. Gosh our road is quiet with this L3 point something lockdown. It's the perfect time to work where the agapanthus were. I'll have another peek under the tarps and see if that stubborn one is dead yet. What's the bet it's not lol. Yesterday I sewed for a little while but ended up knitting more on the blanket late in the afternoon. The Furry One kept me company, he seems out of sorts with his food and play at the moment. We've given away the doggy biscuits I bought as he just point blank refused to eat them. I did manage to find 'his' brand' the other day so that better work or he will be one hungry dog! Time to head outside while the day is calm. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2021-10-30 06:54:00 |

| Morning everyone Have woken up sore and with the worst sinus headache Ive had in ages... I noticed the other day that there are cabbage trees flowering, so its probably from them. They should only be in the middle of no where, not in residential areas. Crossing my fingers for the death of the aggies Kiwimade.. You have tried soo hard. I feel like life as we know it is on hold, I dont want this to be the norm, cos its far from normal. But oddly when I was a kid and we didnt have a car, we didnt go anywhere.. But now that we do we cant. Oneday we might be normal again Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2021-10-30 09:47:00 |
| Good Morning Ladies from Sunny Napier after a good down pour late yesterday afternoon. All I was thinking here we go again. Friends came with sandbags for me just in time. They will live here now at my place. Cut out 12 bags to stitch for my friend who a manager of a church op shop. and still more to cut out. People buy them to give away with their Christmas presents in them. In total have stitches 15 bags Kiwimade all the best for you and thinking of you as you wait for Thursday. Hope everyone has a great w/end. The sun out so another load of washing to hung out. sunflowers28 - 2021-10-30 12:22:00 |
| morning ladies :) Another wet day here so not much chance of me finishing the garden this morning. Yesterday I weeded inside the fence line and trimmed the edges with the idea I would do outside the fence line today. So I didn't get to peek at the aggies either. Oh well, we'll see what happens as the day progresses. Sunflowers, we are very lucky to have our hospital. They are fundraising to extend it at the moment. It's part private, part public with the rest home and maternity wings (nice to have young and old together) and small surgeries like what I'm having can be done. I think they are hoping to extend the surgery side of it. This morning we woke to a find a dead rabbit dumped on the bedroom floor. We knew the Furry One had caught it yesterday and we can only think he was peckish during the night and it was raining so he decided to bring it inside as he hates being wet. We're counting our lucky stars he didn't put it on the bed. MrK is cleaning it up with the Furry One trying to stop him by getting between him and the rabbit. It's the first time he has bought a rabbit inside. The only other kill he has done this too was the stoat as he was so proud of himself. That was an awful fight. If the day is going to be wet I'll do a bit more sewing. The ironing needs doing too so while the ironing board is up I'll get that done. Happy crafting :) https://tmmb.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?tid=523 kiwimade64 - 2021-10-31 07:29:00 |

| Kiwimade Violet woke me a few weeks ago saying their was something in her room and we discovered a little bunny in her wardrobe l have no pets so am at a loss to know how it got in there. l regularly get inside visits from our resident ducks Rosie and Sir Francis who like to tell me to get up and feed them but a baby bunny is weird, of course Violet wanted it for a pet. huntlygirl - 2021-10-31 10:32:00 |
| Good morning everyone I woke up early in a lot of pain so took meds and promptly went back to sleep lol.. not often I get out of bed at 10 am lol. So Ive decided to skip most of breakfast, Ive had a banana and Im going to try and make some date and orange scones I saw the other day. They are the ones that you use cream and lemonade in. I never used to be able to do them years ago. So fingers crossed lol. Ohh clever boy Furry one you got him in the end... I dont miss having Gifts brought to me. We had two foxies lol Didnt get any crafting done.. in a bit of a low mood, but Im sure it will pass. Im slowly gathering the bits and pieces MrP wants me to take up to him tomorrow. The man on one side of him has come out of hospital and keeps leaving his room and popping in to see people. He's meant to be in isolation for 2 weeks. the nurses told him off yesterday, but in the end MrP went and asked him to stay in his room for the saftey of everyone or no one would be safe or able to have visitors.. He just needed to hear it from someone his age I think cos MrP said last night he had been staying in his room since. Almost time to ring him so Ill do that. make my scones for lunch and then craft later. The Larkins are on tonight Yayay. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2021-10-31 10:53:00 |
| Hi everyone hope you are all busy crafting and preparing for Christmas. I have a very busy months ahead of me. Birthdays Wedding, and Christmas. On top of that my computer went down as well. Just so pleased I had backup everything that I need too sunflowers28 - 2021-10-31 14:39:00 |
| morning ladies :) The morning started off promising but it's clouding over. I had better hustle and get the lawn mowed shortly. Huntlygirl, I wonder how on earth the bunny made it's way into Violet's room! It was lucky you didn't have a cat! I love your duck's names lol. Sir Francis is classic! When we had our Pekins, they ate the snails in the garden and completely cleaned them out. On rainy nights MrK and I would go outside and stomp on the hundreds that would migrate across the lawn. But once the ducks arrived, we had no issue. That was years ago and we still only find a few here and there. Popeye, that poor chap who had been in hospital. He probably missed everyone and wouldn't have been allowed visitors while there. At least he listened to MrP. Just shows how important it is to back up your computer, doesn't it, sunflowers. Good to see you back again :) I finished the top of the quilt and have cut the binding yesterday, not perfect but it is ready for quilting. And I finished the final block for the knitted blanket and have started putting it all together. I should completely finish that today some time. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2021-11-01 07:08:00 |

| Morning everyone Crafting escaped me yesterday, as I was just too sore to bother doing anything other than the rubbish. I took it down to the road on one of the walkers.. Very handy trolleys lol. Id rather wake up to a bunny than the huge weta I found in my caravan when I was a teenager. Totally freaked me out. I had to get my stepfather to remove it lol Right I better get cracking, I have things to do before I go... Hope to craft later cos Im missing it. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2021-11-01 08:03:00 |
| morning ladies :) It looks like it's going to be a gorgeous day here today. I should be able to get outside again today. Yesterday I couldn't finish the lawn as both wheelie bins were full, mainly weeds we didn't want in the compost and last weeks lawn clippings (too much to compost). The bin man has been so I can finish it today. I'm still trying to get to weeding along the main road. It seems everytime I plan to do it, something happens lol. I sewed a few more produce bags for when I shop and then finished the knitted blanket yesterday while listening to Jacinda and Ashley. The bags I sewed around five years ago are starting to get tatty, not too shabby when you think about the use they have had. Especially as some of those vegies and fruit can be heavy. It's good to have the blanket finished too. Now I have a mess to clean up in the bedroom where I sew lol and I'll need to start planning something else to do until I can get to Spotlight and buy more wadding for the quilt top. I might start on my hand embroidered bird series. We had a phone call yesterday saying MrK's brother-in-law has only days to go. Once he has been moved from the hospital back to the rest home we will go and say our goodbyes. I saw your FB post yesterday popeye, I'm so glad you were able to see MrP. It's been a very long haul for you guys. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2021-11-02 07:30:00 |

| Good Morning everyone It was a good visit with MrP but I will say his attention was more on his ham bone than me. He did comment about how he wished Id worn my hair in a bun, I know he likes that but I admit to not doing it. I will next week. The sweetest but saddest thing was a couple who, he used to go up everyday and push his wife around in her lounge chair on wheels. They were at the front door, split by the windows. they both had their hands on the glass "touching" each other. Sweet but so sad. Glad to hear everyone is getting plenty of craft done, making up for my lack thereof.. Just had a call from my twin brother.. his wifes results are in she has breast cancer, its also at the top of her spine, in lymph nodes , her hips and liver. so its just time. She is only 56, they are hoping to get to her 57th in January. The clouds are coming in grr lol Going to be a right mix today I think Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2021-11-02 09:44:00 |
| Good Morning Everyone, It's cool here today and overcast .Need to keep moving today as I have a couple of jobs to do in town. Been putting them off. Stitched a couple of bags up last night. Enjoyed seeing and hearing about your sewing kiwimade. I miss the Waikato and do anything to see my family and friends. I have left it so long now. So pleased to hear you enjoyed your time with Mr.P It's been a long time coming. Good to hear you can visit once a week. sunflowers28 - 2021-11-02 10:10:00 |
| morning ladies :) It's pretty blustery out there this morning, looks like we're in for a storm. Yesterday I finished mowing the lawn. It was hard going as it was so wet but it's done for another week. I also picked the first of my roses <3 Am thrilled to bits with them so far this season. I posted some links to pics over on the other message board. It was worth all the effort to mulch and the garden certainly appreciated the pot ash and magnesium I spread around. No crafting for me yesterday but I did clean up my sewing mess in the spare bedroom. And made a list of the 'consumables' like machine needles I need to replace for my next Spotlight visit. I need to take some photos of our garden birds for my embroidery project. Our resident blackbirds are busy feeding a brood. Every time we see them they have beaks full of worms. Thank goodness they can't get to the worms in our worm farm. Today MrK has a docs appointment and we are going to say our final goodbyes to his brother-in-law. He was also our best man at our wedding and MrK's best friend from school age to now. An enduring friendship. 17723 | Morning everyone Just tried to login and then tried to register for the new sight but it says Im putting the wrong letters in the letter part.. will try again later. Loved seeing all your photos on FB yesterday Kiwimade.. The first one was stunning and absolutely perfect. Im kicking myself in the butt today. I need to get motivated again. Time is slipping by and I hate it. After a little secretarial work this morning Im going to check out the fabric prices.. I cant wait until we drop down next week. I can do exciting stuff like go to the warehouse for weed spray lol.. Cos they wont send that . I might even pop into the Chemist warehouse and see what its like. I saw a cool thing to make yesterday in an upcycle it group on FB . Good for kids to make. They are called Fairy Sticks.. Simply a shiny big bead stuck on the end of a knitting needles then loaded with other smaller one gluing the last one at the bottom to keep them all on. And then they can randomly be put around the garden or in pot plants etc. Simple and pretty, good for kids to do but I will be doing a few for Christmas presents, for those who have everything lol.. Ill contact the oppy and see if they can save me any odd knitting needles they get in their donations and they cant sell. And I have beads already. Have an awesome day everyone popeye333 - 2021-11-03 09:12:00 |
| One very upset little girl, today because school camp is in the lockdown area of Northland so has been called off it is so sad as they have been fundraising all year and this on top of no riding for the disabled has made her very sad she is struggling with all the constant changes in her life and really hates school at the moment and is slipping behind so much more and her teacher aid hours have been reduced again. The subject she excels in is Garden to Table, she loves being in the garden both at home and school our strawberries are producing very well this year and we are getting a big bowl a day. We have 8 little chickens that she hatched in the school incubator because pet day has been cancelled they have come home and give a lot of enjoyment l love chooks so we will keep them luckily they are all hens, l wouldn't be able to kill off any roosters. huntlygirl - 2021-11-03 10:59:00 |
| Ohh Noo Huntlygirl, Poor Violet. I hadnt thought about the fact that the camp would be cancelled. Maybe some short day trips and foraging , perhaps a list of animals, insects birds etc for her to find. Poor Kids I hope they get to do it again one day popeye333 - 2021-11-03 12:22:00 |
| morning ladies :) Awww huntlygirl, these things are tough on our kids, especially when it's something they have been really looking forward to. I hope they are able to have their camp at a later date. wow, we had a decent storm yesterday with trees down at Karapiro and blocking SH1. Not that it bothered us as we were in Tauranga but I'm sure the detour bothered quite a few essential workers. We have had a phone call early this morning to say MrK's brother-in-law has passed away. Thank goodness we were able to see him yesterday and say our goodbyes. While there, we supported my sister-in-law with her funeral plans, well, as much as she could organise at the time. We are so lucky to be at L2 and can do this. This afternoon I have my lump out, done under local now not a GA. Thank goodness for that. The doctor says it's benign so I'm not stressing over it and even if it wasn't, what's the good in stressing. Roll with it is my motto for now. Today I'll print off some photos of birds and start my embroidery designs. Dex's owner has taken a gorgeous photo of a tui and even though we don't have tui in our garden, it's still a 'garden' bird for some lucky people. And I just love the colours and can't wait to blend them. I think silk thread would show off the sheen and glow of the tui perfectly. Ok, it's an excuse to buy and use silk threads lol. Or even the silky rayon threads I have. Happy crafting :) https://tmmb.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?tid=523 kiwimade64 - 2021-11-04 07:24:00 |

| Morning everyone Good luck for your lumpectomy. Im like you, take what ever comes and dont worry about anything until you know what's happening. I've never been a worrier really. Well until all this stuff this year lol. Good that your felines and hounds have the levels of hierarchy sorted out Mica. Makes for a bit more peace in a way. I wasnt planning on going to Pukekohe today for the little bit of shopping I need but comparing prices last night and in some cases I can get half the amount again for the same price as down here. So ill ring MrP before I go since Im already running late. Yesterday I spent considerable time comparing prices of fabric on AliExpress and Spotlight. Gingham worked out pretty much the same. I even looked at plain fabrics but adding gingham ribbon.. In the end I looked at the price of ready made pillowcases at the warehouse, and ordered some of them and also ordered some Gingham ribbon from Ali. Its my Christmas present to myself. Right I had better get myself sorted.. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2021-11-04 09:05:00 |
| morning ladies :) A calm, overcast morning here. Our neighbour is already out cutting silage. Wonderful new isn't it Cleo was found safe. If a bird flies inside, mica, it's all on with the Furry One. But yesterday he was swooped on by a magpie and I have never seen him race inside so fast. He was shaking so hard we thought he was having a seizure. I had my lump cut out yesterday and it was weird seeing it floating in some liquid ready to be sent off. I'm a bit tender this morning but nothing panadol won't take care of. I'll find out for sure in two weeks if it really is benign. MrK's brother-in-law's funeral is today, pretty quick really. But with Covid lurking it was decided to not dither round as who knows if our L2 will stay that way. It seems everything is being pushed through quicker now. Housework for me today although I won't be lifting anything heavy(ish) for a couple of days. I have roughly designed my next embroidery piece. I was going to use a photo Dex's 'mum' took but I found a photo of a tui eating kowhai flowers I took in 2017. I like the contrast of colours and that the tui is upside down so you can see all the blues in the feathers. So I'll use that photo instead. happy crafting :) https://tmmb.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?tid=523 kiwimade64 - 2021-11-05 07:29:00 |

| Morning everyone Glad you have had the offender removed Kiwimade, lol we are alike, I also thought it was funny seeing my mole floating in the liquid lol. Be gentle with yourself for a few days. Love the sound of the Tui in the Kowhai. Ive seen a few nice pictures on FB recently. They are truely beautiful birds. Mica your Granddaughter will be the best dressed girl on the block so to speak. Wonderful tho eh. Made with love and unique too. I enjoyed my time out yesterday. Had a horrible chat with MrP before I left, he hadnt slept and was taking it out on me. I got him some ear plugs and dropped them off for him on my way out of town. There was quite a queue at Pak n Save, not my usual hour of getting there. lol. I sewed the Santas jacket bottoms on the dolls last night and stuffed the arms, so Ill sew them on later. I do enjoy it, but terrible at motivation.. but geeze the days are rushing away on us. I must try again to get into the "Other" place too might have to try a different name. There were a few fireworks around last night. Then at 4 am I heard what sounded like a fire engine running. Checked out the windows couldnt see anything but Ill take a quick walk to the end of the drive later. Although I couldnt smell anything burning either. I hope no one has been burnt out. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2021-11-05 09:12:00 |
| morning ladies :) Another calm start to the day here. Boy we had some rain coming home from Tauranga yesterday. The Kaimai Range can be tricky to drive over on the best of days let alone with rain. Today I think will be a chilled out day. My sister-in-law who is a nurse said I can't do any lifting for a few days and shouldn't have vacumed or stripped the bed. No wonder I was a tad sore lol. So a good excuse to work a bit more on my tui embroidery. Although, I have had an idea about the quilt top I finished the other day using an old blanket as backing so I won't need any wadding. We were talking to our daughter yesterday and it looks like they will be home for Christmas Day levels permitting. So we won't need to post any pressies this year. And it will be so good to see them. Can't believe they made the 'Christmas decision' so early lol. Usually it's the day before lol. The Furry One seems to have recovered from the magpie swooping and is back to stalking rabbits. I wouldn't mind having the rabbits if they would just eat the grass and not the garden. Saw one nibbling my dianthus the other day. happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2021-11-06 07:09:00 |
| Morning all another rainy day mica3 - 2021-11-06 08:56:00 |
| Morning everyone Ohh Kiwimade thats naughty, Its surprising how those top muscle /area work and how we dont think about it. Mica your man sounds wonderful, enabling a new machine is awesome. What did you get? I finally got some more work done on the Santa's, after knitting 6 wrist bands, Id done the boot ones but not the arm cuff ones. but the boot ones are all on and Im sewing the ones to the arms before I add them to the body. Much easier and faster to work with. So Ill get those done today. Then its just the hats and beards and cut some eyes out of felt, oh and the belt buckles, which I also cut out of felt cos its far nicer and easier than trying to sew one a cast on and off piece and bend around corners to make it sit right. I said to a friend last night, they might as well just open the whole country up. no borders no MIQ. People are breaking out, signing themselves out and crossing borders when they shouldn't. Make staying at home voluntary and you would probably find once the numbers fly people will make themselves stay at home. Its like people hate being told what to do. But given a scare they might pull their horns in. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2021-11-06 09:19:00 |
| OMG popeye333 you can't be serious - just look what's happening on the east coast of Australia, around a dozen deaths every day for weeks now - and that'd be ok with you? . . . Wind your neck in . . . please! spinderella - 2021-11-06 12:11:00 |

| morning ladies :) Another calm morning and so quiet! That's pretty unusual for our road. Amazing how lockdowns change things. Phew, I knew you weren't being serious popeye, that your post was more frustration than anything. It seems that those who complain the loudest or break the rules get the most press attention and gives the impression that the majority of Aucklanders aren't doing the right thing. Why don't they show people doing the right thing for a change. Media can skew whiff anything. When watching the 1.00pm press conference with the PM et al, then comparing what we saw with the 6.00pm news, it beggars belief sometimes. Yesterday was a pretty cruisey day and I finished my tui design and chose the colours. Today I'll put the design onto fabric and hopefully make a start. When I'm at Spotlight next I'll see what silk or rayon threads they have to add to it. Although there is a lady starting an embroidery shop in Tauranga as the Bernina shop is no longer selling hand embroidery threads and things. And there are some online places I can shop too. I also need to sort out my vaccination certificate today as I received an e mail from the MoH saying I have one now. MrK will need a paper one as he doesn't have a smart phone. 17739 | Morning everyone You hit the nail on the head Kiwimade. Sheer frustration is what prompted the wee sound off. My naivety has always thought we are a good country that does things well and together but that's certainly long gone. Was very tongue in cheek. I got a lot of work done on the Santa's yesterday. Im ready to attach the beard and Moustaches today and then I should be sewing the hats up and perhaps on. Then its just eyes and the belt buckles and they will be done. Mica I know what you mean about wanting your machine to go to a good home. My simple Janome came from a shop but it was being sold on behalf and the lady wanted it to go to a good home. I've had it umm 25-26 years maybe. And still going strong. It had a hard case which is good cos we were living in our bus when I got it. Its compact and tough. Can't wait to see your next Nature instalment Kiwimade.. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2021-11-07 09:08:00 |
| Just having a break from the ironing and pottering about lol. Damed stitches won't let me do much in the garden at the moment. Mica, I saw your post about your new machine. Omg it sounds lovely. And good your old fittings still fit it too. Saves a few $$ along the way. I'm the same, when selling things like sewing machines (and our car lol) I want it to be loved like I loved it. More of my roses are starting to bloom so you will be flooded with photos soon lol. kiwimade64 - 2021-11-07 09:16:00 |
| Grey old day here in the Bay - agree Popeye we all need to stop and have a moan every now and again - two weeks ago we had a positive case from Auckland on his motorbike doing deliveries - Wednesday my son had 18 blokes arrive from Auck to remark the parking area - hardly essential It’s done every six months - none of them were wearing masks and they were not required to be vaccinated according to the boss - he sent them on their way but we have covid in the waste water so fingers crossed so who knows gerry64 - 2021-11-07 11:44:00 |
| morning ladies :) We have fog this morning and hopefully it will clear quickly. But it's quite thick so who knows. Gerry, what a pain the Aucklanders were unvaccinated. Pity your son's car park couldn't be done by locals. I hope you are enjoying your new sewing machine, mica. I wouldn't be seen for days lol. The Furry One caught another rabbit last evening so no dinner from us for him. It looks like I have half a rabbit to bury this morning but I might ask MrK to do it and blame my stitches lol. I meant to wash the blanket I was going to use as a backing for the quilt yesterday and completely forgot about it. So I missed a gorgeous 'drying' day. I'll see how I go today with the fog. My tui is now drawn onto the fabric and I have tacked around the outline as the pen I use fades over time. The colours are all chosen so I'm good to go. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2021-11-08 07:10:00 |
| Morning everyone Well done furry one, such a good boy for saving his Mums garden. Gerry I remember my first Machine too, it was a Riccar,, It did 30 odd stitches that I seldom used back then lol. I saved from the day I got my first pay packet, the grand sum of $102 a week lol.. And when Id saved my first $1000 We went machine shopping lol. My stepfather also brought me some very expensive scissors and a sewing box. The Box died, I sold the machine when I went to Aussie but I still use the scissors and I think they have only been sharpened once in 40 years lol. I have one Santa waiting on his eyes and buckle, one waiting for his hat and eyes and buckle, and one who needs his hat sewn before being put on ... So another day or so and they will be done. Although Im deciding if I should put the holly and berries on their hats. They looks just as good without them. Ill be ringing the rest home shortly. Im meant to be going up to see MrP and cutting his hair, but as we have another confirmed case here I will ring and check first. Either way I will be dropping off some more junk for him to eat. Have an awesome day everyone popeye333 - 2021-11-08 08:17:00 |
| Morning all, clear skies and lovely sunrise now dense mist, it should burn off. mica3 - 2021-11-08 08:56:00 |
| morning ladies :) Another foggy start to the day. Yesterday it cleared up around lunchtime so at least the washing and the blanket got dry. I've unpicked a pram cover set I suspect my grandmother sewed for when my sister and I were babies. She was the local dressmaker in her day and sewed wedding gowns for the local ladies as well as all the linen and vestments for the local church. I suspect the lace she used on our pram set was left over from a wedding dress. It's now being hand tacked to some new satin (from a friend's daughter-in-law's wedding dress :) ) and will be used in a quilt along with some vintage fabric of mums. I'm hoping to give it to our daughter as I love the links to her great grandmother, grandmother and me as well as my best friend. All strong women :) But I know it's going to be a pain to sew lol. I've started stitching the tui, done one branch lol. Another slow going project but there's no hurry. Dex's mum sent me a photo of my embroidery all framed and it looks great (if I do say so myself). A simple black frame with a white board to frame his picture. She loves it and I'm thrilled she has had it framed. I'm looking at the lawn seeing it needs mowing again but I can't mow until my stitches come out next week. And there are a couple of big dock plants I meant to dig out last week but didn't get to. Oh well, it will all get done eventually. happy crafting :) https://tmmb.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?tid=523 kiwimade64 - 2021-11-09 07:13:00 |
| Morning all fine with a breeze here mica3 - 2021-11-09 08:31:00 |
| Morning everyone Had the Hay cut yesterday. To say it was long is an understatement. It was too long for the ride on lawn mower lol.. Poor guy had to use a weedeater to do the whole thing. But its down and wilting lol. Went and saw MrP yesterday and cut his hair etc. I had to get a belt out of his wardrobe and saw the blanket on the top shelf. Yay we can finally go to other shops tomorrow. but Ill wait till thursday so I can get my weedkiller. The last 2 hats are ready to sew on later today. I was shattered after seeing MrP so nothing got done. It was sooo hot in the pepe coat that my T-shirt was drenched. Love the sound of the family heirlooms Kiwimade. I have lace that was off my grandmothers wedding dress. Sadly no one is interested enough to want it on wedding dresses or quilts etc. With it is a Bib she handmade of course that was for my father when he was a baby so it will be 87ish years old. Oneday I should put all my old family stuff like that On display on my hall stand.. I have letters from my maternal grandmothers trip from England on the ships in about 1920ish. and cook books from 1913, both printed and hand written. It would look to have them on display, even if only for my eyes. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2021-11-09 09:15:00 |
| morning ladies :) We're on the countdown to using the new message board well and truly now. Another foggy morning here. I'm up early as I'm over not being able to get out and finish weeding the garden. Once the washing is finished I'm going to do some light weeding along the main road. Another Christmas present was bought yesterday, so that's our daughter 'done'. Our son wants MrK to build him a cover for his shop's rubbish bin similar to what they have in Maccas and asked for that to be his Christmas pressie. I'll also get something for him so he has a present to open on Christmas Day. Speaking of opening, he's opening his shop to takeaway only on Saturday. We are sooo excited for him. I hope your cat has turned up, mica. They certainly worry us at times. Popeye, a little display sounds lovely but I would keep it out of direct sunlight to protect the fragile lace from falling apart and the handwritten letters from fading. Time to get moving before the day gets too hot. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2021-11-10 06:42:00 |
| Morning all mica3 - 2021-11-10 08:44:00 |
| Morning everyone Going to be a stunner of a day... Yes I must get myself sorted on the new site. trouble being if I use my original email it tells me someone is already using it lol.. Ill figure it out tho, even if I have to make an extra email. Be careful and gentle with your body Kiwimade. The Santa's are only eyeless and buckle less but I have everything ready to do that this morning. Then I will pop them on FB and see how they go. Yay we are free... and Im not going out today lol... it will be crazy out there lol. Spotlight very kindly gave us Aucklanders a $10 off voucher, if you spend $20 so Ill pop in tomorrow cos I want some red and white beads if I can find some. I did manage to get some for the fairy sticks but want red and white for candy canes. Ohh Mica I do hope your furry one has come home... The Blanket Saga continued but is Over.. I complained to the boss. And told her that MrP was thinking it had either been binned or stolen. 20 minutes later while I was talking to him a nurse walked into his room with his Blanket... We were both bawling. LOL. They rang me a little while later and sort of apologised.. and I asked them to take a photo and email it to me. And it is the right blanket this time.. So MrP has asked me to bring it home with me on Monday and put it where it belongs on his bed. So relieved that its all over. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2021-11-10 08:49:00 |
