morning ladies :) Wow, we had quite the storm overnight and it still looks pretty bleak out there this morning.

Popeye, when using the worm wee, mix it with water so it looks like weak tea, then water your plants :)

Almost there with this quilt top. I thought I was going to finish the top yesterday but no such luck. Mica, I'm thinking of hand quilting this one as my machine just didn't cope with the other quilt. And I haven't bought a walking foot yet.

The Furry One has his six monthly vet check this morning and this time has his annual jabs. Told him it was his turn to be vaccinated lol. I'll have to find his 'Plunket' book with his medical records in it. Yesterday he dug up part of the box hedge to get to a mouse and MrK wasn't impressed lol. I was secretly cheering him on lol as I hate it and want it to go.

Better move and find this 'plunket' book, we're first up with the vet and they open early.

happy crafting :)

Morning all,
Had to laugh about your furry ones hunting KM, and you are certainly motoring along with your quilt top.
Had a lovely day with sewing buddies yesterday and the traffic wasn't too horrible on the drive home was expecting worse since it was the last day of the school holidays.
Tidy up bits and bobs in sewing room then sort out dress pattern for DD found some material yesterday for a summer dress for her. After that it might be my turn.
Got the big one coming of the day today DH will spend some time groo ing him
Off to the gym
Have a good day all

Morning everyone.

Thanks Kiwimade, I will put it to use.
Wow you have done well getting on with the new quilt. I hope the Furry one gets a reward for getting his shots lol and Passes his warrant.

Glad you had fun with the ladies yesterday Mica. Time flies when your with a good group eh.

I didn't feel too flash yesterday so didn't really do much. Today tho I'm going into the sewing room. Im sick of the mess in there. I'ts getting to the point of not wanting to go in there, so Il get some form of order in there and it will be much better.

They just said that reversing back into Level 4 is a possibility for this afternoons announcement.. I really hope not. I dont know how much longer I could cope with that.

Have a fab day everyone

The powers that be have decided to scrap the message boards on here.. Only having one available and only for stuff related to Trade me.

Really silly move, I'm sure a lot of people will move to selling on FB Market place.

Im sure we will all be able to gather on Fb for our Morning Chats.

morning ladies :) Another grey morning but the sun is meant to come out this afternoon.

Yep, I saw the e mail too. I guess TM is a business but not in the trade of making friends. I did make the FB page but have left everyone too it as it kinda went in other directions. That's fine though, it's life. We can sort something out between us, I'm sure.

I finished sewing the top of the lap quilt yesterday after a few false starts. I have no idea where my head was and made silly mistakes. Today I will straighten the edges and tidy my sewing area. I'm debating about using wadding and black for the back but I have a burnt orange blanket we rarely use which I think will make an awesome back as well. The binding will be black mainly because I don't have enough of the green but I also think it will make the green stand out more. I've used the Disappearing Four Patch.

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1628322313.jpg

I must phone the Bernina shop and see if my thimble has arrived. Small things, I know, but it makes a huge difference.

The Furry One had his annual jabs yesterday and has a clean bill of health, so all good there.

Happy crafting :)

Wow KM your quilt is awesome love the colours.
Quilting group today up the coast so will get the binding done on cat baby quilt
Sewed the buttons on cardi for DGD yesterday so thats another set in bigger size done. Got dress pattern traced off yesterday and ready to cut out the cotton fabric from Moorelands which is narrow so some fiddling required.
Have nice day all

Morning everyone

Ohh Wow Kiwimade that is Absolutely Stunning. Wow I love it.. Would make a lovely wall hanging too.

Yeah true Trade me is a Business, but they could consider it a Reward programme lol.. Im sure we will sort something out.

You got alot done yesterday Mica.. always on the go.

I got the sewing room well tidy.. can actually see the top of both the dining table and sewing desk. It was getting me down so Im pleased I did it.''

Yesterday I saw a blanket done in random colours done in the same was as you do dishcloths and it looked soo cool, knitted from the corner. It would be perfect for using up scrap wool. It really peaked my interest so it may be a long term project to have on the go.
Still plodding along with the hottie cover, I dont get much done but its stil growing a little.

Another 2 weeks without seeing MrP. The only things Im remaining strong about is not going to see him through the glass door. Cos even tho it would be good, it would be really hard to not want to break through the glass for a hug. Its starting to get him down too.
One good thing Our Nephew Son and his sister have both changed their minds and been vaccinated. So proud of them. Now if their mother would do so it would be awesome. Shes in her 70s and vowing not to. Hopefully they might be able to change her mind.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) It's a beautiful day here today :)

Thank you for your kind comments on the quilt, I'll sew the binding on today as I machine quilted it yesterday. My machine behaved itself this time! My leather thimble arrived so I popped over to Tauranga and picked it up, bought some batting and tomato plants and a few other bits and pieces.

Today I need to vacum my threads that missed the bin and have a general tidy up. MrK is still working on our son's bench for his shop. As soon as the levels change we'll be over to Hamilton to fit it.

Happy crafting :)

Another nice day here I think I will have to get out some lighter clothes as it is definitely warm.
KM great that you got your quilt quilted always a good feeling when the job is done
I had a nice day out yesterday my ride share needed to go to Spotlight on the way home so some cotton jersey came home with me. Will use it to make DGD some summer clothes. She has grown into the merinos that I have made her and DD is very pleased with the tshirts that I made her they were both in all Nana made gear yesterday.
Started knitting a cap sleeved vest last night using bigger needle size this time. I am going need to get more wool soon.
Popeye always good to tidy sewing area I usually find fabric that I had forgotten I had.
Will be sewing DD dress today - well that is the plan who knows what else might distract me
Have a good day

Morning everyone

Looks like it will be another lovely day. And yes the temp is climbing up. Having the screen in the ranch slider and putting the blinds across to block out the glare in the afternoon.

Mica your right there when it comes to fabric, I found a big piece of what I assume is terry towelling the other day. That's what I call it anyway. I made singlets for MrP a few years ago. But Im needing some so I think I will make me some for a change. The ones I wear now were made of scraps really, with different fronts to backs and in one case I changed the colours just under the bust lol.. I dont wear them out so it doesn't make any difference what colour they are.

We were both a bit down yesterday, I generally crash after the numbers come out. And MrP is struggling too. He didn't talk for long last night. This morning will be good cos we always have a debrief of Wentworth,, Only 2 episodes left ever.
Ive loved the last 10 years of it. Still remember the first scene of the first episode...

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Thanks for the links to the message boards athena and crafters_corner :) I'm waiting for the link to activate my account.

It's a bit cloudy today, we need the rain but I want a sunny day today as my sister-in-law and our friend are coming for lunch. It would be nice to eat outside. They are bringing the worm farm :D :D

Yesterday I finished my sister's quilt and am so pleased with it even if my quilting was a bit wobbly here and there. I nailed the binding this time lol.

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1629523755.jpg

I've unpicked a knitted throw we rarely use and am using that to finish the knitted blanket. So the race is on to finish the last block before the weather becomes too hot to knit. I'll have some more space in my sewing cupboard then too.

Happy crafting:)

Morning everyone

Thank you for the links ladies. I will follow up later. I know I would miss this "family" of crafters we have for sure.

OH Kiwimade the Quilt is Wonderful... IM sure your Sister will absolutely love it.

Ive been feeling a bit blah and i think its a combination of the increase in Pollen and the usual change of season grotty at this time of the year.

I did get some crates put away yesterday.. And checked the oil and water on the car.
I think with everything that's going on, I need to Have to make something.. not just doing it cos I can lol..

Have to do the bloods this morning and then a couple of things at the supermarket.

Has anyone knitted that super thick chenille Yarn? I got some ages ago , its so nice and soft I was thinking to use the biggest needles I have and try for a small baby blanket.

Fabulous quilt KM your sister will love it because it is beautiful and that you made it.
Didn't get alot done yesterday DS popped in with DGS late morning and stayed until mid afternoon the male dog is exhausted as DGS and him play with dog ball we have to call short breaks every now and then. I am sure the dog sees little people as ball throwers he even gently nudged it up to DGD when she was here couple days ago lying on a quilt so funny.
Volunteer day today, will get some buttons for vest I finished knitting last night on the way home.
Not a good day for DH so once finish my coffee will take k9s for a short walk before I head out

Morning all - Kiwimade the quilt is stunning - your granddaughter will be wanting one - when I was quilting I found myself looking at fabric with an entirely different perspective - shout yourself a foot it makes a huge difference - I bought mine off trademe - somebody had bought the wrong one so it was my gain
This afternoon I am going to make myself start darning in the ends of my grandsons blanket- well maybe

gerry64 - 2021-10-21 12:08:00
17673

morning ladies :) Thank you for your comments about the quilt. I must admit, I'm very happy with it.

We had a lovely lunch yesterday with family and are now the proud owners of a worm farm. MrK is going to build a raised spot for it so it will be easier to empty food scraps into and we need a lidded container with a hole in it for the worm wee to leak into. But he'll sort all that out and I'll help him move the farm closer to the compost and under a tree.

The Furry One and Dex, our friend's dalmation met yesterday for the first time and omggg lol, they got on so well. I knew they would as they are very similar in personality. It was so funny seeing a big dalmation and our jack russell racing round and round and round. They had a ball together. And the Furry One slept well last night, especially as he spent the evening chasing a rabbit just to top his day off.

I'm not sure what the day will bring today, it's chilly though lol. Might flick the duster about a bit or I could weed where the convolvulus is coming through under the fence. Yesterday my Albertine rose broke her support structure (concrete reinforcing wire!) so MrK and I fixed it but she needs tying back again. That rose is determined to take over the world even though she is prunned each year.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Congratulations on becoming Worm parents Kiwimade lol. A thought for something to catch the wee in. Pop into a bakery or cafe in town and ask if they keep or Can keep a lidded bucket for you. Ones they get there Fruit fillings etc in and then MrK can simply cut a hole in the top.
We have for many years had a manual washing bucket which was a 20 litre laundry powder bucket that MrP cut a hole in the lid, Put a pram wheel on a broom handle and it was the best washing machine ever, for when we lived in our mobile home. I still have it lol.
You might have a paint bucket, or even contact the painters that did your house and they could save you one.

Yay my INR is bang on and for the first time in months I've got a 3 week break lol.

The younger of the lab ladies is pregnant Yayay. She is having her second son. So I have a good reason to get the hook going again. He is due on March 3rd, so I think I will do a small blanket like the one I did for a friend off here, for her boy who is coming up 5 years and getting ready to start school.
I will look through my colours later, but Im tempted to use the same as MrP's blanket.. but will be doing it in rows of stripes.

I enjoyed my time out yesterday. I only got groceries and did my bloods but it was nice seeing other people. The few that I share hugs with is hard but we have started Air hugging lol. Cant wait for a hug.. Its what I need.
It reminds me of when we lived in Mangakino, all the single ladies at Senior Citz used to "Borrow" MrP for a hug. He is an excellent hugger. You feel it into your bones.

Have a fab day everyone... it looks gloomy out there, It has rained overnight and the weekend looks Perfect for crafting lol

morning ladies :) Gosh it's chilly here this morning, MrK has even turned the heat pump on.

Not sure what I want to do today, I know I need to pull a few weeds which won't take long to do so might do that. We want to go to Hamilton to fit the bench in our son's shop but that won't be happening for a while.

If the weather turns to custard I'll cut some fabric for two more smaller quilts for one of the bedrooms. I have the fabric sitting there. There is always knitting the last of the blanket I started over the winter months.

Enjoy the long weekend :)

Morning everyone

Its windy out but no rain as yet. Just a nice temp too.

I dont know what happened to yesterday but it seemed to vanish lol. Could be cos Im having to take big pain meds and things are a bit blurry lol.

I asked my friend if she would count the stitches on the blanket I made for her son so she was going to try and get it done on the weekend. I may just guess tho if I cant wait lol.

My friend in Taranaki is going to crochet some little duck booties for me. When she is finally allowed to come up Im going to get her to show me how to read patterns, Id really like to be able to do more things in crochet, especially those Arugimi? toys. Which I think are mostly done in double crochet.
Im considering putting some of the satin on here, it was an impulse buy and since there's over 30 meters of it, im not really likely to use it all lol

Im going to make the Hedgehog slice later... An uncooked fudge type slice. Since I dont plan on going much baking at all in the future, I thought it was best to start using some of the ingredients, and mainly the walnuts as I have quiet alot. And I dont want them going rancid. I will freeze what I dont use today tho
Also found an uncooked fudge type slice but its ginger crunch without the crunch lol.. Crushed biscuits again.

Then again that may all change cos oddly I seldom eat between meals through the day so it might end up not being eaten. I can take bagged stuff to MrP but not homemade for some reason.

Ohh who knows lol My days are usually different to what I plan lol.

Have a fab day everyone lol

Popeye you would love doing the amirugumi crochet toys - they are mainly tubes so the crochet is easy - the clothes are a bit more difficult some have knitted clothes which would suit you - if you do have a go I have some patterns you can have I have made quite a few - but putting them together gives me no pleasure lately - your toy making skills would be put to good use

morning ladies :) Another chilly day here today.

I visited the other message board yesterday and found my registration has been accepted so I can start a new thread there if you agree and post the link here. It seems pretty straight forward but you will need to have a good look around to become familiar with it.

Yesterday I cut one of mum's tablecloths for a small quilt. It looked square but omgg lol, when it came to cutting it was wonky as heck. So I fussy cut each piece individually.

A woman in an embroidery group I belong to hand embroidered a bird using a single strand of machine embroidery thread and it looked stunning. It's inspired me to use machine embroidery thread for the bird series I want to stitch. I walk passed them every time I'm in Spotlight and admire the depth the colours have and have often wondered if I could use them in some way without an embroidery machine.

Time to move, I want to mow the lawn before it rains.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Post the link Kiwimade, maybe closer to the time if you want to feel safer with it being here, or perhaps choose a date and we can all find it and you can delete it later.

Im struggling today. too sore, over covid, my nehew's family is falling apart, a sil has cancer all over the place. Nephew still waiting to hear if he has it too.

I dont think Ill get anything done today.

Mica do make something for yourself for a change.

And Kiwimade I have several tablecloths that were my parents and as much as I try you cant get them square when ironing them.. but they are a great source of fabric... I haven't used our table as a dining table since we moved here. and I have some lovely tablecloths that just dont get used. And fabric placemats too which would be good to sew with.

Have a good day everyone

morning ladies :) Overcast but warm here today. I might be able to do some sewing or knitting at some stage.

I'm a third of the way through the last block for the knitted blanket and must admit I am well and truly over it. Can't wait for it to be finished. It's been long winded that's for sure.

Popeye, it's surprising just how much fabric a tablecloth takes. Even pillowcases, the vintage pillowcase I cut for my first quilt had a meter and a half. The cloths I am using now are 'tea' cloths so not that big but big enough to make something decent sized combined with a contrast.

The rabbits are back and the Furry One is in his element. There is one that he is determined to catch and yesterday he got quite close to it. His stalking has improved hugely. The rabbits start to become a bit blasé about him being around, they don't realise how quick he is. We have to spell the word rabbit out now if it is in general conversation lol as he knows the word very well. He even knows the look on my face when I see one lol. Smart dog.

I'll start a thread over in the other place soon and post the link. I won't bother deleting the link as this message board is going to be deleted anyway. And if TM has a problem with that and bans me, then you know where I'll be lol. For the sake of two weeks, I hope they don't. I would suggest though that you register so we are all good to go :)

Happy crafting :)

KM we talk a bit about God( dog spelt backwards) here so that the dogs don't know we are referring to them and switch on their ears. You could refer to rabbits as Lagamorphs ha!
You are trucking along with you quilts and knitting. Finished DD dress, made a matching mask. Finished another front and half first sleeve of knitted hoodie last night.
Hope to start sewing xmas pressies this week.

Morning everyone

Its not too warm here, as yet. It got up there yesterday tho.

MrP thinks Im nuts having the hottie on my back and the fan on my face lol.

Im feeling alot better today thank goodness.

We were talking about the Furry one and his rabbits yesterday actually. Turns out MrP does sometimes listen. He asked had he got any recently.

We had to spell with the other cats we have had. We have always had clever cats but MrP says its how I bring them up. Missy follows instructions very well.
Love the "God" lol...

I had a thought about the layout of my bedroom last night. Im going to move the two bookcases and it will make it far easier to have the fan near the bed. I can do it in parts so I will watch the pain. Im beginning to think it could be my kidney, so am drinking heaps and keeping up with meds. Will ring the drs tomorrow.. Hate bodies sometimes.

I think I signed up to some other message board place at some stage but cant remember so Ill work from the link.

Yesterday I got the wool out for the baby boy blanket, Had to go through the photos on my facebook but found pictures so am making it the same as the rainbow ones Ive made previously. I dont think our hotties will ever get covers lol. Ive stopped twice now lol.'

Have a fab day everyoen

Good morning - this is my 4th attempt the previous ones have disappeared into never never land
Loved hearing about the rabbit hunt - we had a beautiful black cat on the orchard - he was lethal- we shifted to Taupo when we sold the orchard I kept him inside for a week then he disappeared -I thought he had gone back to Havelock North - we searched everywhere absolutely devastated as he was beautiful - but a week later he appeared on the deck with a rabbit in his mouth - was over the moon .
Kiwimade is it the link Athena put up ?

morning ladies :) Another overcast day but it's going to be warm and muggy.

Yesterday just kinda slipped away from both of us as we were both busy doing our thing. MrK has built a platform to put the worm farm on and I was busy sewing blocks for another small quilt. I want two small quilts for a bedroom.

We still can't get to Hamilton to see our son and scatter my sister-in-law's ashes in Raglan so we just have to wait it out.

The Furry One is still hunting that rabbit, he will catch it eventually and hopefully before it does any more damage to the garden. It's particularly fond of my roses. Speaking of which lol, I have my first blooms for the season. Ingrid Bergman (deep red) and lemon and lime are flowering and omgg Crepuscule will be going nuts any day now.

Gerry, you are right, the MB we were talking about is the one Athena posted a link too. I started a thread and you can find it here.

https://tmmb.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?tid=523

Or you can use the links the ladies posted further up the post and go to the main page of the MB, scroll down the contents to find Crafts & Hobbies and there you will find sub groups and we are under knitting and sewing. We can't post pics there though :( but it is somewhere we can chat.

I bet MrP is missing his home baking, popeye. They are getting quite firm on the borders (fair enough too). My sister-in-law was stopped by police when she visited from Rotorua the other day. They wanted to make sure she wasn't going into a L3 area.

Time to move, the washing machine is beeping. Am well trained to respond to the beeps!

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
Its warm again today, and was overnight.

Yesterday I felt really good do moved a couple of bookcases in my room so I could put the fan into the corner, so I dont kick it when I use the en-suite overnight. Really happy how it all looks. I put a red and white gingham duvet cover on the couch, have the same but a tablecloth on the drawers and have a bunny sitting on my pillow is gingham too. And as I have a white duvet I put a red towel I got to make the hottie covers across the foot. Love the look. !!
But Im going to save up and get some more Gingham and make some cushions or pillowcases.

I also decided to make up the Santas I had knitted. well I thought it was Santa and Mrs Claus but it was 3 Santas. The body bits are stuffed. but I didnt knit the noses so will do that today. And have one extra arm lol. Perfect time to make them up and sell them.

The pain in my back has gone Yay.. and so has the cyst lol it must have popped, I can barely feel where it was lol.

Taking some gear up to MrP this morning then Ill be back onto the Santas.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) We have a very calm morning this morning but it was so muggy last night.

Today I have to pick the Furry One's epilepsy medication up from the vet (we forgot to get some when he had his visit). And while in town I'll see if I can find something for MrK for Christmas. I hate the last minute rush of Christmas and like to shop early.

Yesterday MrK moved the worm farm to it's permanent home by the compost bins. It's lovely and shady there for them. The worms realllly love avocado pips lol. And he's made a spot for the bottles of worm wee too.

I didn't get much crafting done but while in Tauranga grocery shopping I bought a new blade for my rotary cutter. For us lefthanders who were raised to use right handed scissors, rotary cutters are awesome. I have straight cuts for the first time in my life lol. MrK thinks he can sharpen my old blade with his Dremmel, we'll see, but nothing ventured nothing gained.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

It is very dull and still here too. And already warm. It got to 26 at 5pm last night on the cold side of the lounge.. I had the fan on overnight, so moving it around the other day was rather good timing.

How old is the furry one now Kiwimade? Its good that epilepsy in animals can be controlled isnt it. I knew a Doberman that had fits.

Yesterday I sat at knitted 3 noses, all of 20 minutes work lol.. to discover Id dont them in the wrong colour. Its close but not close enough. So I knitted them as I attached them.. Also did the sewing needed on the 3 jacket skirts last night. I got my led light out to be able to sew the black bit. Was awesome. I am really enjoying doing the toys again.

I really should vacuum this morning before I settle in for doing 6 arms lol. Temptation not to is big tho. Its not bothering me too much and Im not expecting the Queen so it may be left a day or two extra lol.

Its funny, when I was a kid I knew very few left handers, one of My Aunts and then a school friend at college.. now tho I know alot more.

Have an awesome day everyone... perfect for crafting.

Morning all,
Misty around the hills with dusting of moisture in the air.
Very muggy at the gym and no fans allowed at L2. My trainer was mean so I am having a sit down and coffee before I hit the shower. Sewed up the little sun hat yesterday it is cute but I suspect will be a tad small for DGD so will measure her head ne t time I see her and make another one. My DD loved the shoes DH dropped the dress and shoes off when he went over to do their garden.
Got to run some errands this morning then will putter in sewing cave. Have thought I would draft a boat neckline for my TNT tshirt pattern and then that will be ready to be whizzed up when I feel like it.
Have nice day everyone

morning ladies :) Another humid day here so far. I see Covid is in Christchurch :( , two cases were found last evening. Am so glad we have both had the jab.

I have a doctors appointment this afternoon as I found a lump just above my breast. Better to get it checked out and face whatever it could be.

Yesterday I sewed a few blocks for the lap quilt but it's going to be a tad bigger lol. Am happy with it so far and am thinking if it is too big for what I want, it can be our granddaughter's Christmas pressie. I've ordered MrK a digital angle ruler for Christmas so that's two (maybe three?) Christmas pressies sorted now.

I've knitted another square for the knitted blanket, four to go to finish the block. It's much easier to knit when the evening a bit cooler but I must admit I'll be pleased to see the back of it.

While in Spotlight the other day I saw some pure silk thread. Wow, what a treat it would be to embroider using that. Just makes me want to drool :P

Gerry is right about your password at the other boards. I don't log out which makes it easier for me. Maybe that can help.

happy crafting :)

Have a good day all

Morning everyone

Awesome that you check Kiwimade. Fingers crossed it will just be a something minor. So many dont check and then its too late.

One could be very annoyed at the cases in CHCH. Like Mica one has to just shake your head. No one and no where is safe. I have a sister friend there, and I know she is vaccinated.
MrP said last night we have two cases here now.

I had a fantastic day yesterday. I saw some brand new slippers on the Oppys FB page for $4 so went and got those, and decided since I was out Id get my shopping.

Then I found out that we can get Skinny Jump here which is cheap broadband. 150gb a month for $25 and if you rung out you can get more at $5 a pop. So Im arranging for that today, cancelling the landline and saving $80 a month. I felt like Id won a million dollars lol.

MrP is still losing weight. but they want him to stop wearing his watch which has an stretchy strap, they reckon its cutting the blood supply to his hand, so now I have to find one that fits, and after telling me last week he doesnt need more cream for his dry skin, now he wants some grrr lol.

So needless to say I didnt get any crafting done. Between waiting for call backs and sorting stuff online too. And I missed it. So hopefully ill get to that later today.

I didnt want to go out today but MrP is one of those people who feel naked without his watch.

Have a fab day everyone

Good afternoon ladies,

I have posted the link to this thread over on the tmmb site, so that you can refer back to it if you wish.

It's lovely to see you all transitioning over to there, so that when the finally curtain falls, you still have a place to go and chat.

Thought I would mention too, that someone archived the recipe board before it got removed last year, so if you check out tmmb site, and scroll down to recipes, you will find them.
