I reckon you can never have too much wool either

Good morning everybody - Popeye have you tried an ergonomic crochet hook - I can’t crochet with a normal hook for more than 30 mins but can crochet all day with my Aldi hooks - they look odd and take a wee while to get used to and they cost about $15 but well worth it - I sent by mistake a photo of my last blanket to Kiwimade I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my special hook

Good Morning Everyone. It's very windy at present the sun out. Just picked up a bag of oranges.
One side of my place they are busy after work and weekends. Wallpaper off and painting ,painting. It been another couple of weeks before the family move in. The other side has noone and with the 2 metres apart its is hard for them work around.
Busy in the vegie and flower beds over the w/end and a busy week ahead.
Cut out some bags for sewing for a friend.

Good news kiwimade that the car was sold so quick. Look forward to seeing some of your sewing. With the lockdowns alot have taken up knitting, sewing, stitching etc over the weeks.

Well time for me to move as I have finish my coffee and o'dear there another couple dozen of oranges on ground. Will take some today to my craft group.
Have a great day everyone.

morning ladies :) It's going to be a wild and wooly day today I suspect.

No sewing for me again yesterday except for the 'stitch in the ditch' I sewed around the base of the basket bottom as I was busy in town. I'll be in Spotlight today so will buy some binding or some fabric suitable for making binding, depending on cost. I don't want to spend a fortune on it. While there I'll have a look for some fabric to go with the vintage pillowcase I unpicked and some fabric for the edging of my paper pieced hexagon quilt. Might as well buy those three balls of wool/yarn I need to finish that knitted blanket too. Will be good to start finishing things although the paper pieced quilt is a long term project.

Yesterday we had another car break down onto our road, we seem to be the spot where people end up lol. We did feel sorry for the young guy, he had just bought the car from a dealership and was halfway home when the radiator hose blew. Luckily his dad was following him so he had a ride home. They left the keys with us and the dealer is having the car towed today. Something always happening on our wee road.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Very dull and grey here. Not raining just yet tho.

Have fun in spotlight Kiwimade. And as a warning for everyone DONT online shop with them at the moment. Alot of people who ordered in August still dont have their items, Spotlight is letting them buy things that they dont even have in the country. And then not replying to phone calls, emails etc. Fair Go is involved. I have 2 friends stuck in the mess.
One ordered stuff two days before I ordered something from China and mine will be here in the next couple of days apparently.

I only did half a round yesterday, but still better than none at all. Its getting bulky on the legs lol

A friend sent a phone for MrP but sadly we didnt have a charger to match. But for some reason I checked the drawers beside MrPs chair to see if he had any chargers in there, and found the phone we had been missing since just before we got here . he has always told me that it wasnt in there and I should have looked. So Im sneaking that up to him today. Well taking it to the door. The manager knows the mess ups with their phones on the weekend and is allowing me to drop it off. It will make life sooo less stressful again.

The local food bank dropped 3 bags of food off to me yesterday, which was lovely and so unexpected. There was alot of stuff I dont use, so I took it next door. To discover the lady had had a fall and done something to her hip and has been in hospital, but now in rehab in Pukekohe where MrP was 3 years ago.
So poor old Pat cant go and see his wife either, so we both understand. And was greatly thankfull for the food.
If MrP had been here there would have been a big pot of soup on with all the veges.

Will crochet a bit when I get home. Slowly but surely it will get done.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies, another stormy day here today by the looks of it. Lovely someone thought of you with the food parcel, popeye :)

Yep, shopping for supplies definelty counts as a sewing activity, mica. It was pure madness at Spotlight yesterday. Between the 40% off, the one way traffic through the shop and I suspect, lots of low stashes, it was busy as heck. There were people even queuing for car parks. The supermarket was busy too.

We are having a family day today so there won't be much, if any, crafting.
But if I get moving now, I might be able to prepare my fabric for cutting into bias binding for the picnic basket before we do the whanau thing.

Happy crafting :)

Morning all,
Lovely sunny day here at the moment.
KM Spotlight was crazy here too people queuing for car parks, a bloke in a big ute leaning on his horn because a car had stopped to get the park being vacated some people just so impatient. With 40% off I also got another 10m roll tracing vilene and a roll of bamboo cotton batting only just remembered to get the overlocker thread I went to get.
I had a nice morning inthe city went a bit early to ensure got park so had a look around before my haircut. A few sales, not many people in shops but alot bustling up and down Lambton Quay
Sewed the button holes on my shirt, a couple off centre so will have to unpick and redo black on black not easy to see.
DGS spent some time with us while his dad played squash he enjoyed doing the new jigsaw puzzle that I had bought him also had the DD big k9 for the afternoon so 2 balls of energy.
K9 walking vacuuming this morning then I hope to get pdf patterns put together and traced off
Have a good day everyone

Morning everyone
Spotlight has even more sales today too.

Heard from my friend she got an email to say her order is finally in Tauranga, must ask my friend up here if she is getting hers today too.

I did one round yesterday and my fingers are good. So ill stick with one round for now. Have had to put it in a larger bag.. lol.

Hopefully one of my courier parcels will arrive today. It will add to my visual joy.. If I look at my colours it improves my mind. And I feel far more able to cope with things these days.
So craft and the supplies is really helping me.

Glad your overlocker is going well Mica.. I stocked up on over locker cotton earlier in the year so should be set for quite a while.

Have an awesome family day Kiwimade.. I am hoping I can convince my brother to visit it later in the year. Its ages since I saw them. Need a Brother Hug. They are in Kerikeri I think or Russel, somewhere up there anyway. They are doing the mobile home living in a caravan.

Have an awesome day everyone

morning ladies :) Rain, rain and more rain today by the looks of it.

Yesterday was a really nice day with family, kinda like a 'regrouping' after MrK's sister's passing. Our family friend loved her picture of Dex, phew lol.
We also took our old car to Rotorua and delivered her to her new owner. Bit tricky for the new owner to drive it back when he rode a motorcycle over to look at it. And we were planning to go to Rotorua anyway so it was a win-win for all of us.

Today I plan to sit at the sewing machine and finish lining this picnic basket. If the weather clears though, I'll more than likely end up outside putting the garden stones under the permanent seating. MrK has put the old sleepers in to hold the stones in place. And I need to buy our granddaughter her birthday pressie, can't believe she's eight next week.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

A damp day here too a little wind but not too bad.

I did one round on the blanket, it is enough and my fingers coped with it. So I might have found the "right" amount to do and not suffer from lol... until the rounds get bigger that is. but its growing and thats the main thing.

Wow Your grand girl being 8 means our ex neighbours girl is too, a few weeks later.. That time has flown. I think Addy has 2-3 little sisters. Its been ages since I saw any of them now I think of it.

Have a couple of contactless pick ups today. One is a set of pictures I was given when I was young. Im thinking they are between 44-47 years old. But they are in perfect condition..
So I will be able to get a few extra things in the shopping tomorrow yay. Ive actually become quite creative for me with my food. I hate food waste, always have but even more so now.

A perfect day to stay indoors crafting..

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) It looks like the storm is passing so hopefully I can hang the washing outside today.

Yesterday I bought and picked up our granddaughter's birthday pressie which meant a trip to Hamilton. It was bucketing down so pleased to get home.

I've made the binding for the picnic basket but that was all I had time for yesterday. So much for my plans lol. Never mind, today is another day.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

We didn't have too much rain yesterday and its quite calm out there. But in saying that I wouldn't want to be on the roads that much.

The rain is bringing the pollen down tho, I have a massive sinus headache so hoping the pills kick in fast lol.. Grr Spring and summer lol

Have to do the bloods today, since I skipped it last week lol. Will get some groceries while Im there.

Will look at Cellotape.. When did that get so expensive... ???? lol... Well I probably know the answer, since I started buying at the $2 type shops lol.

Didn't get any blanket done yesterday, but will crack on today.. I want to do some sewing but daren't start something else until I get the blanket done. I want to take it to MrP as soon as lockdown drops so he can at least use it for a little while before it gets too warm.

Thats the good thing about life Kiwimade. although not gauranteed we get a New day to do things in ..lol

Morning all
Windy, cloudy and cold this morning
No sewing plans but do have to do a grocery shop will do it in person today just to get out of the house
Thought I had more Skeinz white merino baby soft but no so won't have enough to finish the short sleeved striped baby sweater. It is currently out of stock. Gave emailed them eta restock but will start on a other while waiting. It pays to have a wee stash to keep the hands busy.
Have nice day

morning ladies :) It looks like a gorgeous day outside today, I have a couple of things to tutu with in the garden so will get on with that. There is space in the garden for one more climbing rose as I dug out a sickly one not long ago. It doesn't matter what the colour it is as long as it isn't pink. I treated myself to some lovely leather gardening gloves the other day and omg what a difference they make when out in the garden.

I have finished lining the picnic basket, not perfect but it will do the trick. Now I'll keep going on those UFOs I have unless something else distracts me lol.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

It sure is a stunner out there. Missy is sitting in the long window beside the front door waiting for the sun to hit her. It shouldn't be long. Ive always loved how cats follow the sun around the house lol.

Woke up very sore this morning but I intend on at least attempting things I have on my list to do. I looked at the front garden yesterday and thought It was time to cut away the spent succulent flowers but that is going to be a no. I still have plenty on my list.

Im very thankful I didnt do my bloods last week, Pukekohe Pak n Save is now a point of interest and I would have been there at the same time that the carrier was there. Phew.

I got some chicken frames yesterday, I have them roasting at the mo and then Im going to throw them in the crockpot with heaps of different seasonings and see if I can make myself a decent gravy. Using the 11-12 seasonings I have. 3 huge frames were only just over $5.

I want to do photos and list things on here, then I will settle in to do some more on the blanket. MrP is looking forward to seeing it.

HIs Sister in law is looking for yarn to finish a blanket, Im considering offering some varigated ones I have. Im not that fond of some of them so cant see me using them for anything I would keep.

Its 6 weeks since I saw him, some days its feel alot longer.

The girls in the lab said yesterday if we drop to level 3 ours will open.. So fingers crossed.. Mind you my test was so good yesterday they gave me 2 weeks break lol.

Have a fab day everyone and enjoy your crafts.

Feeling good this morning so far my new meds seem to be working so fingers crossed that continues.

Good Morning Ladies. So pleased Kiwimade to hear that you all got toghter for lunch. Sounds like it was good time.

Popeye, yes it's hard when you can't visit a love one and at Level 4 as well. Mr P will have something to look forward to when you can take the blanket into him..
The sun can't makeup it's mind this morning.I have been down the last week or so. Was aked if I could knit a couple of baby blankets. Did one the other I have pulled off the neddles a couple of times. Have now put both aside for the time been.
I have been putting off alot of jobs, that need doing. Need to make a list today and start setting up my craft area in the carshed. Have to oil and cleanup my sewing machine, have a lovely space inside to put my machine and loom up.It's a room off the lounge and dinning area. It means I can shut the door and walk away when I want to as well.. It has silding doors opening looking over the flower, veggie gardens and lawn. I so miss my Silk Tree.
I like the sound of your sewing craft cave mica. Good to have your own space.
Still not sure what weather going to do. The sun there but not very warm. Time for me to move and catchup on a few jobs that keep getting pushed aside.
Have a great weekend everyone. Take Care.

morning ladies :) A bit crisp here too, mica. But a lovely start to the day regardless.

At long last, sunflowers! You finally have your craft area :)

Yesterday I repotted the bigger pots. We're lucky here as the horsey people put the horse poo out at the gates for us to help ourselves. The other day I grabbed three bags (you have to be quick to get any!) and used one of them for the pots. I half full the pots with the manure and then top up with potting mix. Next year when I repot them again, I will have some lovely soil for the garden from the horse poo. Any left over will go through the compost.

MrK has pulled a muscle and is feeling very sorry for himself. This self pity and woe-is-me is driving me nuts. He has a doctors appointment for tomorrow.

Today I'm back mowing lawns and more garden pots to repot. I might work on a few more hexagons this afternoon if the weather changes.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Chilly but not crisp today, a bit cloudy.

So pleased you finally have your sewing room etc sorted Sunflowers, next to my kitchen my sewing room is my happy place, even if it looks like a bomb has gone off in there.

The crochet will have to wait today, I burnt my finger last night, water gets into the handle on the pot I use for the potatoes and it copped a long dribble. Thankfully I have Mebo Burn cream which is wonderful, but its still tender.
Might be able to sew tho, so Ill give that a whirl but I know I cant bend the finger to hold the blanket as I work.

When talking to MrP yesterday he said hes still not happy being there, wont agree that its where he needs to be, but at least he didnt get angry. Or Im getting better at changing the subject. The food is improving for him so thats good.

Have a fab day everyone... And Mica be safe on the road

morning ladies :) There's some big rain clouds over the Kaimai Ranges this morning but the suns out here.

MrP is more than likely feeling stressed with L4 popeye, and saying all that stuff is his way of coping. Well done you, on changing the subject!

Yesterday I sewed a different quilting block to see if I could do it. Not perfect but I have the gist of it. I'm using old fabric I wouldn't use for anything else and it gives me a visual for the 'real thing'. I'm still trying to find the 'perfect' block to use the vintage fabric. I also sewed a few more hexagons together. Random really isn't that bad now that I'm in the swing of it lol.

MrK has his doctor appointment this morning thank goodness. I'm over the woe is me attitude.

Our son's business is progressing to actually having a shop in Hamilton. He signed the lease the other evening and is so excited. There's so much to do to set up and he's asked us to help over the next few days. At least now he's not at the mercy of the weather like he was at the markets and can open whenever he wants. We are so proud of him.

Washing machine has beeped so time to get moving.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

The sun is out, a little wind but quite mild. And Pollen, Blardy Pollen lol.

Hope all goes well with MrK at the dr's Kiwimade. I used to have to go with MrP all the time, cos he expects the dr's to guess what's wrong.
MrP was saying yesterday he's not sure he likes the Dr he has been seeing at the rest home... But he was just in a contrary mood yesterday. Moaned about the food but them moaned cos I suggested he tell them..

I sewed the hem on the top of the dress yesterday, but haven't put the elastic in it lol. I did manage to do just over a row of the blanket last night and sewed the ends in. The last ball of white had 3 joins in. Glad it is only for blanket not in a garment .

Wow it sounds like your Son is doing really well Kiwimade. You must be sooo proud.

Glad you had fun with the girls Mica. I fully intend to get a bit of order into my visits with MrP once they start back up, and make sure Im there for the knitting group. I miss being with a group. MrP can talk to another of the hubbies.

Not alot on my agenda today but I will get a round done on the blanket, Im on the dark blue.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Another lovely day here today. I'm having my haircut this morning, third time lucky lol. Due to my sister-in-law's passing and then lockdown, I've had to cancel my appointment twice.

I had MrK to the doctor yesterday and the doctor thinks it's a pinched nerve (again) and wants an x-ray so we are waiting for Radiology to call with his appointment.

Today I need to buy a couple of birthday cards and send off birthday pressies for both grandies. Our granddaughter's birthday is this month and grandson's next month so I'll send them both together. Then if we have another lockdown at least the pressies have gone.

The lawn needs mowing again (must be spring lol) but I think I'll leave that until tomorrow. I want to spend a day in the garden tutu-ing about and I'll mow when I've finished.

My cut out embroidery didn't go to plan but that's OK as it's all part of learning. My design can still be used, I just have to fiddle around with it. Yesterday I sewed a few more hexagons while listening to Jacinda make her announcement. Am so glad it wasn't me making the alert level decision, it would have been pretty tough.

happy crafting :)

Overcast here too.

I agree Kiwimade, I wouldnt have wanted to make that decision either. Im waiting to hear if anything changes re visits to the rest home or not. But Im certainly not holding my breath. I dont think it will change. I think the only difference will be being able to buy take aways lol.

I didnt seem to get anything done yesterday, I spent alot of time comparing prices to decide what way to go without having a landline. I figure its probably going to be easier to do now than next year when they totally stop the landlines.

Have to dash up for some milk... then I will crochet later. creaky bones today so there is always the bonus of being able to and crochet.

I sewed a few more hexagons together and now I have the width I want so have a rough idea of size.

Good on you for escaping the woe is me Kiwimade, it can be a real drag.

MrP is the same all the time at the mo. Its all my fault he is where he is.. never mind his physical stuff. He thinks Im living it up while he is there.

I didnt get the email from the rest home. No Visits until level 2. But I am able to take some stuff up for him. Which Ill do tomorrow or Friday.

I didnt crochet yesterday, I dont have alot of motivation to do anything at the mo.
I did pop up for milk and thankfully only got a couple of things so I could slip through the self serve. No Queue outside but a long one inside.

I hope to crochet today but I dont guarantee it lol Maybe Ill finally put the elastic in the dress lol

Have good day

morning ladies :) What a rough day weather wise, today. It's persisting down and has been since the wee hours. I know the Furry One needs to pee lol but he won't go out in this rain.

Yesterday I dug out some buttercup weeds that were being stubborn and gave the garden a quick weed. The lawn edges are all done but not the lawn, I was leaving that for today lol. I guess it won't be happening.

We've noticed our resident blackbirds are going back and forth to their usual nesting site so we'll be having babies soon. It's right outside our living room window so we can watch without disturbing them.

MrK is going to phone our doctor today and find out what's happening with his x-ray. He needs to move about a bit more... sigh.

Today I'll work on some more hexagons and might attempt another quilt block or I might have that tutu with my embroidery and see if I can make it work. It's not like we're going anywhere in this weather.

happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

A very gloomy day here today. I dont think it has rained very heavy cos I cant hear it, but it is wet out there.

I did a round on the blanket yesterday, Ill be cutting it fine to get the final 2 dark rounds I think. Hopefully Ill get one. I like them to have a dark border but I am about the start the last ball of the blue. I have 2 rounds then what ever I can stretch it to for the end. it wont matter too much since he only has a single bed. But it will still probably do my head in a little. At least I wont see it every day tho.

Today Im taking a Survival pack up, he needs shower gel and deodorant, and some munchies. So he will be a happy chappy.

I have to admit Ive struggled with this lockdown... BUT late yesterday afternoon I saw that the local roast shop was open.. I can tell you I very seldom pay $7 for a roast meat Sandwich but OMG it was beautiful. I got Beef, cos lets face it who can afford that these days. It was thick with a beautiful gravy on it and I enjoyed Every Bite.... And I dont feel guilty, especially when on Monday I got 6 pieces of schnitzel for $5-80 and that will do 6 meals lol So they counteract each other... but Man it was good lol.

I had better get myself sorted so I can go get the things I still need for MrP and take them up.

Have a fab day everyone

Good Morning Ladies. Rained overnight and still raining this morning. Yes! means I don't have to water yet. The orange trees still has alot on the two trees. The lemon tree is doing well. Lemons all year round. Made orange honey this week and have put a couple of bags of oranges cut up into the freezer.
Just finished knitting two baby blankets and will take them to the opshop today which a girlfriend is the manager. I do one afternoon a week with her. Have been given some lovely fabrics to store after everyone done their Spring Clean over lockdown. My friend and I going to met up and cut and stitch some bags or shapes and sizes at w/end if its raining.
Just about got on top of my spring cleaning. Went to wash some nets from bedroom windows and they are in pieces,so a visit to the curtain shop asap. Over the years I have brought and given off cuts to make bags, rugs, cushon covers etc..
Good to hear you can dropped some goodies to Mr P, Popeye. Enjoy your time out while you can.Glad you liked your roast meal. It's good to have a night off from cooking.
I'm lucky,we have a very good bakely nearby. Will buy 3 or 4 pies at a time. I know I can have a easy meal if I have been busy or out.
People come near and far for his goodies.
Time for me to move and do a couple of jobs before going out this afternoon.
Hope Mr P does not have to wait too long for the xray results.
Have a great day and take some time out for yourself

morning ladies :) Still overcast but t he sun is coming out. Omg we had some rain!

Yummmm, that roast beef sandwich sounds devine, popeye. Am glad you were able to pop up to see MrP. It's been a loooong lockdown for you both.

Yesterday our son phoned to ask if MrK could make some shelving for his shop. We had to smile as MrK's father helped build a storage room for us when we had our own business years ago. It's like we've come full circle with dad's helping sons. MrK is moving about a tad more but is still in pain. The pain meds are making him see things sliding around, even the Furry One sitting on the floor was sliding across it lol. Thank goodness he can't drive at the moment.

Yesterday I sewed more hexagons (again lol) and today I need to cut more from paper as the hexagons I have removed so far are getting tatty and don't have straight edges anymore. I've reused them around about three times so that's not too bad.

I found the perfect quilting block for the vintage fabric I have but it looks a bit tricky. As a beginner quilter I think I'll need to have a tutu with it first. There's no hurry, it's something I have to take my time with.

Housework today, and most importantly, a phone call to our granddaughter for her birthday.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Kiwimade I didn't get to see MrP. Only allowed to drop things off at the front door. He is most appreciative of the goodies tho.... Its 8 weeks now

Wow they sound like good pain meds, wouldn't be tramadol would they cos I know they are very good at as a dr once said, Giving you visions and loopy dreams lol. I cant take them lol.

I did get a round done on the blanket... AND I found I had 2 balls of the dark blue so I now have 1 round in the set and then either 2 or 3 on the border. Im soo pleased.

Had a crap night I have a shocking pain shooting through the inside of my ankle. Hence being so late on here. My Dr is fully booked, but she is on triage tomorrow so since Ive already had pain meds Ill try and cope until tomorrow and see her then. And I think I need to top up on the antidepressants, Im just not coping with much at the mo.

Lovely that Your Son wants his Dads help Kiwimade. So many move away and forget they have parents these days.

Don't forget a return address on the washing Mica Lol... Some days you gotta wonder if it will still be there later lol

Wow nearly time to ring MrP.

Have a fab day everyone.... Im crocheting and that will be all lol

morning ladies :) There's a real pea souper out there this morning. We haven't had fog this thick for a while now.

I've been watching the Great British Sewing Bee and am getting so damed frustrated with all the advertising. At least 12 adverts between about 5-10 minutes of programme. In the end I watched it on demand with far less advertising.

Yesterday afternoon I cut more hexagons out and basted fabric to them. I have a very long way to go with this one.

Today I mow the lawn. The last few warm rainy days has the lawn growing like crazy along with everything else.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Sunny here but the night went from quite warm to chilly this morning.

The foot pain has eased a little but Im still going to the Dr, I suspect it could be a flare up of gout perhaps so Ill see what she has to say.

I didn't do any crochet yesterday. It was a bad day all round really. But I will get some done today.. Its my Mission... I need to get it done.

I've decided I need to meal plan, it will make me eat better. So Ill do that later. I feel like I dont have a lot of choice, but I do really, I just need to make a plan and stick to it.

Cant wait to see your quilt Kiwimade.. Quilts are always beautiful.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning all, overcast here too, which I don’t mind.
I have spent a couple of days in hospital since I last posted, seems I have some damage from radiation treatment, they will be keeping an eye on it, but it has limited what I can do as I need to be reasonably close to a toilet some days. I have done some crochet, and have kept an eye on our veggie garden, we have even started using some of what we planted a few months ago, and our seeds are now growing too. Our mushrooms that we grew from a kit have taken off again, we would like to grow more and out them in the garden, but everything we find about growing mushrooms at home says buy a kit.

Good Morning Ladies. Yes just. I was up early as someone was having a party across the street last night. We call it the party house. Lost count how many times we have had police up to the house.

Having new people either side of me. One side is a family with a boy and girl. Working on the inside of the house and section. The other was a rented house as well for last 5 plus years. It was flooded a couple of times in last 18 months.
It taken 6 plus months to replace everything inside. Was going to let it,till a someone asked if they could buy it. Alot houses are up for sale just now. and getting good money.
Cleaned up veggie garden, replaced my herbs and cleaning up the flower gardens. Off over to get some plants this afternoon. Have a few trays with plants coming along as well.
Knited a couple of baby blankets over the last couple of weeks.

Popeye, its a good idea to have a meal plan you will enjoy your meals better. I know you miss seeing Mr P,but you can drop things of to him and you ring that more than some get.
Kiwimaded, Love the yours gardens. Good to hear you are still enjoying your stitching.
Well time for me to eat something before I head off to M10 and just maybe have a look in K Mark next door.
Have a great weekend everyone.

morning ladies :) Another overcast, dreary day.

Tim, I hope things come right for you quickly.

MrK is starting to move about a bit more, I'm making him get his own lunch etc so he has to move and yesterday he was walking a bit easier. He will still sit and not move if given a chance though.

It seems to be a good day to be crafting of some sort. I basted a few more hexagons yesterday and now have quite a few to stitch to the quilt top. But first I have some chores to do around the house. I like to get things done before I craft.

Happy crafting :)

Good morning everyone

I hope things I prove for you soon Tim6, its a bugger when the cure makes you sick.
Mushrooms are something strangely we dont get a lot of up here.. Im not sure why. MrP loves wild mushrooms... Although when he was at the rest home in Papatoetoe they had some from a can and he loved them. Dont know what brand they were tho.

Ohh Sunflowers party houses suck to put it bluntly, I hope you had a quieter night.

I wrote up what I had in the freezer and cupboards, and my fave meals. My goodness I do kind of eat a varied lot.. Now to put them into a plan. Im looking forward to it.
The top up in the head pill made me sleepy but I still managed to read, just. Doing bloods for the foot, if it is a gout flare up they give you a short course of Prednisone these days.. Its a long time since I had a flare up.

It was nice to see our Vaccine tent being so well used yesterday.

I did one round and one side on the blanket yesterday, silly me. But I think my fingers are only aching cos I hadnt had pain meds for 24 hours. So Im topped up again and will stick to the One round. It takes an hour now. I just have one block of the lighter blue and white to do, then since I have plenty of the dark blue I will do a 3 round border to complete it nicely.

And I have to make a sign and laminate it, to put on the notice board in his room.. "Do NOT wash the Blanket" God help them if they do . They would get full force of my anger if they were silly enough to try.

Rubbish and recycling today , and a round on the blanket.

Have a Fab day everyone

Good morning lovely crafters .
Reading your comment re hand washing your husbands blanket Popeye …may I suggest you also make a calico label with either permanent marker or embroidered stitch on the blanket itself stating do not wash or such .
Unfortunately hand washing is not a high priority in every facility and for that reason I make sure Mum’s “ worldly goods “ are now all machine washable .
Poor mums 6.5 hrs drive away , dementia kicking in and now in lockdown with Norovirus in their Home …I am her nearest and dearest so daily phone calls have to suffice …but plan another visit soon .
My late darling ( Facility Manager / RN ) presented many a paper on ‘ The Missing Sock ‘ at conferences , laundry was the biggest complaint in most Rest Homes ,He also had many a tale of shrunken or stretched possum / merino garments and rightly so irate rellies !
I do hope your blanket crocheted with love is treated gently .
Kiwimade you have inspired me to hand stitch a hexagon quilt …using my cartons of fabrics finally getting unearthed from packing boxes .
Can I ask what size you are making each hexagon ? I have experience of paper piecing and found leaving the paper in till finished kept it’s shape , maybe as I was not to aware of fabric stretch back then ..it was a real mixed scrap quilt .This one will be cotton so will try your recycle papers idea .
Do you sew with a thimble ?Thanks .
My latest project has been knitting approx 50 kittens for SPCA , friends are swapping them for cat food …I am enjoying knitting each one different , they all sport a polo neck added later and seperate arms otherwise knitted in one piece , sewn up the middle at back , pillow stuffing etc …I am quite OCD so find knitting so many of them relaxing .Abit like the Trauma Teddies but kitties .
Thanks for letting me pop in , I enjoy following your crafts .

morning ladies :) The day looks a bit clearer but I suspect we are in for more rain.

Jbsouthland, my hexagons have 1 inch sides so they are small but it means I can use the smaller scraps of fabric. I suppose you could 'mix 'n match' sizes but as I'm a beginner, I thought I would keep it simple. The paper I use is just regular letters we get in the mail, photocopy paper we have used and no longer need etc. WINZ letters make great templates lol as they use nice firm paper. I've tried using paper from the advertising mailers but they seem to be too flimsy. Old envelopes etc are good too, it's really a matter of what we have. I must admit, I have been taking the templates out and reusing them as it saves me cutting more out and we don't get as many letters as we used to thanks to e mail. I sew with a thimble but I need a good leather one that fits properly to my finger. I believe Clover make a good one and when in Tauranga next, I'll pop into the Bernina Shop as they stock the Clover brand. (*waits to be ticked off by TM for brand naming*). It's not perfect and I have the odd pucker here and there but I'm pleased with it so far. Like yours, it's a real scrappy piece.

MrK seems to be on the mend and is moving about a bit more. He's taking less pain relief thank goodness as omg they gave him weird visions. He's taken this medication before but never with these side effects.

Today I have a little bit to do in the garden. The roses are really appreciating the epsom salts (magnesium) and pot ash I fed them a few weeks ago and looking great so far. Aquilegias are starting to flower too.

The Furry One has just raced through his doggy door, MrK said the magic words *blo**y rabbit! So he's on a a mission to catch it. I knew we had one (or two or three or four...) as my delphiniums have been chomped on.

Happy crafting :)
