I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post

morning ladies :) We have a thick pea souper of fog this morning and it doesn't look like it's going to move any time soon.

Housework for me today. You can always tell where I've been sitting lol as there are lots of small threads on the floor even though I sit with a small bin beside me. Then I'll plod away at the placemats. Almost finished the embroidery on the fourth one. I'll be pleased when they are all done.

The Furry One got 'stuck' under the house last night. Heaven knows how he got under there. I left the little door open for him and he found his way out eventually. He gets himself into some awkward spots at times. Typical Jack Russell lol.

Happy crafting:)

Morning everyone

Was a right off of a day yesterday, hopefully today will be better.

Ive done several more rows on the hottie cover but not alot lol..

Lol Kiwimade terriers have a knack for getting themselves into sticky situations... Like they have this "What Silly thing" can I do today lol

I have to go do my blood and see MrP at some stage so best rattle the daggs.

Have a fab day all

Morning everyone
The mist is coming in... and was a cold night.

Saw MrP yesterday, timed it right the Dr was with him. I think there is more going on than any of us know . Time will tell.

I have people coming to do a few pick ups today so it will be a fragmented day I expect. But I need to tidy the kitchen and then Ill be happy.

MrP is going on a trip with the home to Butterfly Creek. Its near the Auckland Airport, has a zoo and what ever they call a butterfly enclosure. he is looking forward to it. Just not surer when it is lol.

And I'm looking forward to seeing Grant Sharman on Monday. Nice to have something to look forward to for a change.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) It looks like we're in for a gorgeous day today. It will be nice to have the washing hung out in one place and not split between the line and airing rack.

I hope MrP enjoys his day out, popeye. I think I know where Butterfly Creek is, we pass it when we go to the airport.

I stayed up to watch our athletes make their entrance at the opening Olympic Games ceremony. I loveee the Olympics (MrK has to put up with two solid weeks of sport on TV lol) It was such a weird ceremony without the crowds. We can only see what happens now and hope the stubbornness of the powers-that-be to hold the games pays off.

Yesterday I finished the embroidery on placemat number four. Two to go so I'm getting there.

Happy crafting :)

I can't get my enthusiasm up for the Olympics l enjoy track and field and the swimming but think surfing and golf are not Olympic sports next thing they will be adding tiddlywinks.

17307

morning ladies :) I wonder about some of the sports at the Olympics too, huntlygirl. I suppose they are trying to diversify and the more they have on offer, the more $$$$ they make with sponsorship and viewers. It always comes back to the $$$.

Yesterday I was in Rotorua bringing MrK home from a few days staying with his sisters. He pruned trees and weeded the vegie garden for them. While he was there his sister who is very ill, had to go back into hospital so I'm glad he was able to be there at that time. And I must admit, I really enjoyed my few days with the house to myself.

Today I'll be having a tutu in the garden, not that there is much to do for a little while. I'll trim the edges and maybe make a start on the lawn. A few weeks ago I pulled a thigh muscle and it still aches when I sit too long or walk so I might even split the mowing and edges over two days. On a brighter note, my miniature daffs are flowering :D :D They are like little rays of sunshine.

Later I'll start on the fifth placemat by unpicking the hem and work on replacing the embroidery. This one shouldn't take long to do as it's an easy stitch to embroider.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

I'm the same when it comes to the games. I pretty much like gymnastics and the diving.. I dont think team sports should be there really. They have all the "World Cup" type games for them. Surfing or skateboarding even are just the worst I can think of lol. Everytime I turned the tv over yesterday there was a massive bike race on. boring lol.

I sold all but 5 bags of passionfruit yesterday and some of my baking tins etc and have managed to get enough for MrP to go on the trip. And for me to have a little back up money put aside.

And everyone that said they wanted some, turned up when they said they would which is awesome.

Im going to start listing on here again, cos we have soo much stuff, its ridiculous.

Its nice having the house to yourself Kiwimade.. Theres only the odd time when I want a hug that I think it would be nice for MrP to be here again. So I save the want till I go to see him.

Ill get some crochet done today or it will be summer before I get the hottie cover done lol

morning ladies :) I loved the road cycling race on Saturday, funny isn't it how we have different tastes. We didn't watch all of it, just had it on in the back ground and every now and then would watch it. Was so thrilled to see the Ecuadorian win, especially as he had very little support compared to the big European teams. MrK rolls his eyes when I tell him we need to watch this or that but once he starts watching, he's hooked lol. Although he would never admit it.

It's a pretty wild day out there today. We've had huge winds and it's raining again. So an indoor day for us. I received MrK's covid invitation on Saturday so will make his appointment today. I'm hoping they can do me at the same time.

One more placemat to go before I can back them. Thank goodness for that. My embroidery is slightly different to my mother-in-laws but I don't care. They will be finally be able to be used.

Happy crafting :)

Afternoon everyone

Lol Kiwimade I dont understand watching long races, like the bathhurst car one.. Just watch the last lap and you see who wins lol.

I went up to the home this morning and listened to Grant Sharman.. I could listen to him for hours... I hadn't realised he had represented NZ in shooting too , I used to love going to small bore shooting with my dad before I was 9. Grant is very easy to listen to and we won a pack of cards etc for being cheeky lol...

Its sunny here but still chilly outside. And ill soon cool down from being in the oven at the home.

I had a low day yesterday so didnt do any painting, combined with the fact that Missy wanted my knee all day and I cant paint with her on me.

Time for a spot of lunch

Good morning from a cool CHCH

Just wanted to say a BIG thankyou to the ladies ( and men?) who do the knitting for prem bubbas at CHCH Womens Hospital. My newest grand daughter was born there last week, a few weeks early. There was a table at the NICU where mums of prems could get something they needed. DIL got a gorgeous pair of booties for baby, and she was very grateful. #1 baby was even earlier, and a lot of the prem clothes she had for her are well worn, so it was nice to have some new booties. Baby is now out of the incubator and mum is home. so baby is wearing the booties now.

Morning everyone

Hi Craftylady, congrats on a new grandgirl.. Must have all been a bit scary with her being early.. There are alot of wonderful knitters who donate to the Hospitals and homes. Glad to hear everyone is home and well.

I heard thunder through the night, and there has been alot of rain.... but Mother Nature is sure creating havoc around the world with the flooding.

Not a lot on my agenda today. My bloods and I have to take MrP's wheelchair up so they can use it on Thursday.

So I might finally get some painting done or crochet.

Morning e everyone,
Craftylady glad your GD is home with new booties. So nice to hear that the crafters knitting is appeciated.
Sewed up a merino crossover onesie yesterday I need a break from baby sewing so this morning is vacuum and clean machines. I am waiting for some wool to arrive from Yarn Therapy going to knit myself a scarf as a break from baby knitting. Started knitting Lexie bunny a Cameron James pattern last night. Gotta do something while I wait LOL. Finishec body, legs and started an arm so should have the bits all knitted tonight.
Coffee finished off to wash the floors while DH walks the K9s
Have a good day.

afternoon ladies :) Congratulations on the new grandy, craftylady. I used to knit for the prems and when MrK was in hospital a while ago I was knitting booties. A young guy asked me what I was knitting and I explained I was knitting for the babies. He thanked me and told me he and his wife had had a premmie and were so grateful for the wee hats and booties. He said they still had it and were going to keep it. Just makes your heart sing when you hear stories like that.

I've been cutting out my pieces for making a paper piecing quilt. Not sure what size it will be be, small, probably as it will be hand quilted. It's a great way to use up those bits of fabric that are too big to throw out but too small to make anything of substance with and is something I can pick away at over time.

Happy crafting :)

Little Miss isnt home yet. She needs to stay in NICU until she is gaining weight. Just mum came home yesterday. Miss 6 (next week) will be soooo happy to see her mum as due to this winter virus, no visitors into the hospital...let alone the NICU. So baby could be 2 or 3 weeks old before I get cuddles.

craftylady1 - 2021-07-27 16:11:00
17318

morning ladies :) aww craftylady, just think when you do get those cuddles how special they will be. You'll have a lifetime of them.

I have a few things on the go at the moment which is unlike me so I think I'll finish the knitted memory blanket as quickly as I can. I'll need to buy a few balls of a neutral colour for the edge and to join the blocks. Typical lol as I was hoping to finish my stash.

Today I'll soak the placemats in napisan as one has a stain on it from age. I have finished the hand embroidery but need to buy wadding and backing fabric when in the city next.

Late yesterday afternoon and evening I started hand sewing my first paper pieced block. This will be my long term 'summer' project. I might mix it up a bit with embroidering some of the plain fabric in the blocks, we'll see how I go. It's my first attempt at doing this but so far it seems straight forward.

Happy crafting :)

morning ladies :) An overcast, bleak day today.

This morning we're taking the lawnmower in for repairs. It has slowly been dying but when MrK tried to fix it, it died completely. It has done us proud though, we've had it for over 20 years so is due a little love.

Last evening I finished knitting another block to the memory blanket and started another. I need two more blocks of nine to finish it. I don't think the remnants of my stash will get me there so will buy some cheap wool to finish it. In the meantime, I'll keep going with my last three balls of wool.

I also finished my first quilting block, all hand stitched. Am so proud of it lol. There was something quite satisfying to see it come together.

Our girls are rowing for gold at lunchtime today so we'll be yelling at the tv lol. And so proud of our mens sevens winning silver. This was the first time MrK has seen a sevens game lol. I told him he would love it :P Well done Fiji winning the gold, they were a far superior team.

Time to get cracking.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Sounds like a fun day Mica, enjoy.

Im pleased to see the sun this morning. I was worried if it was raining they would cancel the trip today. But They will be heading up to the van soon to be on the way at 9am.

Im feeling a little blah today, sinus grr... But Im off to Pukekohe to do some shopping... I need a Black hat, my fave wraps for winter are black and cream, I have a cream one but no black. And I have no intention of knitting black lol.. Might get one with one of those really soft pom poms on it. lol.

I feel like Im reliving my first winter on warfarin, with the addition of aspirin its been soo much colder. Ive even been putting the heater on, which is something Ive never been fond of cos I dont like breathing warm air... Bring on next winter when I will be used to it lol

Have a fab day everyone...

morning ladies :) An early start for me this morning as the Furry One had a small seizure. He'll be fine but we will need to watch him for a bit.

Housework for me today and then MrK has asked me to sew his shirt down the front as he is having trouble with small buttons now. And I'll pick away at another quilting block or keep knitting this memory blanket while watching the Olympics later this afternoon. Omgg our girls cut it fine with the sevens against Great Britain, heart pounding stuff lol.

I hope MrP enjoyed his day out yesterday, popeye.

morning all,
Hope the furry one is ok and doesnt have any more seizures.
gym, food hunting and hope to get to quilt shop to get backing for a quilt top that has been in time out since January - part of my stash busting effort and didnt like it when finished but cant start another big quilt until it is done. My rules drive me nuts sometime but having unfinished projects is stressful too. Washing is on off to gym then back for coffee
have a good day

17325

Well it turns out the Furry One had an upset tummy. After being sick on the carpet, he was fine. Lovely mess to clean up lol but that's the joys of dogs.

Mica, I have 'rules' too about unfinished projects and push through to finish as much as I can as I hate having half done things. There are times though I've bitten off a bit more than I can chew (the Furry One's embroidered portrait... argggg!) but I know I'll go back to it after gaining a bit more experience in that particular stitch.

Housework done, one more load of washing to hang out so time for a cuppa.

Afternoon everyone.. Yayayayay congrats Emma Twigg on your Gold.

MrP enjoyed his day out, I went to see him this morning and he was raving about it.. He wanted to buy me a souvenir but left his coin purse at home.

I got myself a hat with a funky pom pom on it yesterday. And even tho we had fog this side of town this morning, it wasnt cold enough for a hat.

Missys prize pack was here then I got home yesterday so she has lots of new munchies to try, and yes she pestered me to hurry up and open it. So I cut across the top and just laid it on the floor, she pulled all the little bags out.

MrP actually called the home, His home this morning.. I didnt make a fuss of it, but I am pleased he is coming around to it. and we havent had any grumpies since the day after his birthday. Its 9 weeks he has been there now.

You are all very good at working on your stashes, mine isnt growing but its not decreasing either.. but Ive been like this before and expect things to happen again eventually.

Hope the Furry one is feeling better now.

Have a fab day everyone

The rowers have certainly done well today, great work.

Had my check up yesterday, they are pleased with my progress, and there seems to be no sign of tumour, yipppeee. Next check up in 6 months, nice change from 6 week ones.

Have been crocheting some baby beanies is a funky multi coloured merino I found, had done booties, but due to colour changes, they didn’t even come close to matching hehehe.

morning ladies :) Well after a beautiful day yesterday, it looks like we're in for rain today. There are huge black clouds over the Kaimai Ranges heading our way.

Tim, that's fantastic news. I bet you are smiling more than a gold medal Olympics athlete lol.

I watched our Black Ferns trounce the Russians twice last evening. Gosh those girls are fast. And I didn't know we had two women in the shotput. We certainly punch above our weight in sport.

Yesterday I found some fabric that will do for backing the placemats. So I'm happy to be using my stash even if it means three will have green and cream stripes on their backs and the other three will have just plain cream. And I had enough wadding to finish one so five to go :D I have to fold the edging over rather than sew a border as the corners had been cut into to be be mitered so there wasn't any wriggle room for extra sewing. So far, so good, and I suspect my mother-in-law would have approved.

Today I'll keep going with the knitted memory blanket. I can knit and watch the Olympics, gotta love muscle memory lol. And I want to get it finished.

Happy crafting :)

Congrats Tim, such great news for you..

Our team is doing soo well.. Im not a huge fan of sport but do enjoy the Olympics and commonwealth games. I just dont like it when Politics come into it.

Sunny here, nice to have some windows open and not freeze to death lol.

Missy wasn't on my legs much yesterday, change in temp so if she's not interested today Ill paint.

I want to do some listing on here too at some stage.. Late start for me today tho watching sports late lol

morning ladies :) Wow, didn't our Black Ferns do us proud :) And today a local girl is in the women's weight lifting. We shall be cheering her on :D We had a local lad in the swimming at the last Olympics, for a small town, we do pretty well with sport.

The lawn mower is back from being repaired so today I'll get the lawn done and while it's fine, have a quick zip around and weed any weeds poking through. It would usually take me a whole day or a couple of mornings once a fortnight to weed but with this mulch, it takes less than an hour once a month. There is no comparison.

Last evening I sat and started another quilting block lol. I should have been knitting but I'm down to my last ball of yarn. I've come to a standstill with the placemats too until I can buy more wadding. So basting the shapes of fabric to the paper is something I can do with my hands in the evening.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

I didn't stay up last night to watch the game.. soo pleased they won tho.. leave it to the ladies Lol... We got this ..!!!

I was hooked on watching the trampolining yesterday, once the eyes got used to it lol...

Got all done that I wanted to yesterday, and the washing is dry. I use the airer and dehumidifier in the main bathroom. Not even 24 hours and its dry including a heavy skirt and jumper.

I have the rubbish and recycling to do today and Im going to spend some time painting I hope. Trouble is I like Missy being on my lap and I cant do that and paint..
I might get this cushion done that I got everything from the recycle shop..

Talking about meeting up, when I was shopping on Thursday I got a text "Hello Stranger, havent been in touch for ages how are you?" No name came up with it. So I replied, Lovely to hear from you, but can you tell me who this is lol.... Was my friend from primary School, we actually met when we were 4 years old... Its easily 10 years since we saw each other. We were both shopping , in supermarkets like 10-15 minutes apart lol... It was like we had been talking just the week before lol... We are going to meet up at some stage.

When I was young I was in Awe of my grandmothers friendship of 50+ years and here I am with two, one of 52 and another of 50.

Have a fab day everyone..

17335

morning ladies :) We loved the trampolining too, popeye. And the bonus was winning the bronze :) Our local girl pulled out of the weightlifting due to injury and we were really disappointed for her. Can only imagine how she felt.

Yesterday I mowed the lawn and weeded. What a difference having the lawnmower repaired and serviced makes. My hyacinths are flowering and they are looking the best they have ever been and there's a lot of other new growth going on. And I had a sneak peek at the aggies I've covered over with a tarp. Phew, they are beginning to smell which is a good sign they are rotting. BUT there was some new frig*** growth! How on earth does it do that lol. Hopefully it's a last gasp effort.

The weather today doesn't look too promising so I'll potter about inside. I need to cut some more hexagons and diamonds and can do that while watching the Olympics later on in the day.

happy crafting :)

Those aggies are certainly being stubborn but your tenacity will win KM.
Its nice when you just pick up with old friends Popeye.
No sewing yesterday but I am hoping that I will get to quilt shop today to get the backing for the quilt I want to finish then it will be ready for someone to take it to ia new home.

Morning Everyone

A real pea souper up here this morning.. Im guessing the airport might be having problems too.

OMG those aggies are worse than a stubborn old man Kiwimade, . I can hear myself having learnt from MrP Put a petrol soaked rag on the b*ggers lol. Go for Gold tho, you will get them in the end.

Ive been and done my blood and been up to see MrP.. Got there before he had his breakfast lol.
I have to go up to the nurse and Dr this afternoon so I have prepped my tea ready to throw in the oven when I get home.

Talking of hexagons etc Kiwimade, I saw an older episode of Money from Nothing the other day when she got given a box of hexagons prepped and some joined, that were sewn onto foot stools etc. I dont understand why someone would want to throw them out, two minutes online would have found a group who would have been happy to taken them. At least they did get used tho.

Good Morning Ladies from a cold wet day after having a few warm sunny days. Hope everyone is keeping dry and warm. Off to have some treatment on my shoulder and neck this morning.
Yes! Waikato can get cold and wet. Kiwmade that why I'm waiting for it to warm up before coming to see the family and friends. You are not the only one using up wool and fabric. Have a few sewing projects that need to see daylight again. Is it too cold in MrK shed? O'dear! Just as well the games are on he can watch them with you.
Good to hear you are well Popeye and you getting out and about. Did you get to have breakfast with Mr P the other morning?
Hope you can enjoy things again and visit your friends. Are you going to the knitting group? Stay dry and warm.
Hi Mica, It's good to have a warm sewing space that you can go to and sew. My sewing room was flooded and had piles of fabric and yarn to wash and dry. So pleased the crew came in and replaced the downpipes etc. Yes, it's has been a long time. Just hope no more floods inside.
Have a great day!

Morning everyone

Wow there was wild wind at 4am.. I dont usually hear things through the night unless its thunder, but this woke me... There is an area out my bedroom window that wind gets trapped in, and judging by the branches that are down it couldn't get out this morning.. Ill be popping them over the fence to the place they came from. Nothing too big.

Yay my INR has been normal two tests in a row. I popped up early then went and saw MrP .. he's not in the best of moods at the mo. Waiting to die is his message at the mo.
Went to the Drs in the afternoon who like me didn't think clots would be something someone on warfarin gets. As she said, it could only be me to prove that wrong lol She said I was doing all I could when it comes to the cramp and yes it does come from the heart attack but it is slowly settling down now.

Madam managed to get a ball of wool out while I was gone. I wouldnt have noticed except she left the evidence by the bed. I need to teach her how to perfect the crime.. She got it out of a plastic bag,, it was simply cos I went out twice.

Stay warm and dry everyone Have a fab day

morning ladies :) Another stunning day is on the cards so I can be outside and MrK can work in his workshop. Sunflowers, MrK is so lucky with his workshop/garage. It faces into the sun so he leaves the main door open and the sun streams in. When he needs to sit, he has a chair just in the entrance out of any wind but getting all the warmth from the sun. It's toasty warm in there. I think we all need some space we can call our own.

Didn't Lisa Carrington do well with two golds. And she has two more races today.

Today I'm helping a friend for a bit then home. I was given a tip when using the cheap weedkiller you can buy at the Warehouse and that's to add a splash of dishwashing liquid to it to make it stick to the weeds. I thought I had bought cheap rubbish as it wasn't working even on the smaller weeds growing in the cracks of concrete. Apparently it doesn't have the stuff in it to make it stick to the weeds and runs off them. So if there is no wind today, I'll spray where I can't hand weed and see how that works. (I know this stuff won't work on those damed aggies lol).

Later while watching the Olympics, I'll start basting some hexagons. I bought some wadding yesterday so I can finally get the placemats finished. There's some wet days coming so I'll leave it for then.

happy crafting :)

Hi everyone, wind blasting from Antarctica today so its a stay indoors day.
I am hoping DH will volunteer for k9 walking.
My merino fabric arrived from The Fabric Store yesterday so thats waiting to be washed before it hits the stash.
Now I have the backing fabric for the quilt top I put in time out I should get that sandwiched ready to quilt. It is harder to be energised about a project when you don't feel the love.
Stay warm

Morning everyone,

Soo much calmer today, but chilly lol.

Lisa really is our Star Girl. I was watching Ian Ferguson? while the races were on, I totally had him as someone else in my head, I thought he was a little "slow"? as in mentally. Just thought he wasnt as fast as he used to be.. Unless he was just so tuned in on the races. Proud of his Boy tho.

Madam was indeed a good thief, there is another part ball of wool missing, the one I was working with. Its hidden cos I cant see it anywhere I suspect well under the bed since the other ball was close to the bed. The ratbag.

MrP used to use our Garage as his work shop, up here, and he loved the sun coming in and the people walking past. He's pinched a nerve in his hip I think, so not in a great mood. I've bitten my tongue and not said now you know what its like, cos I know it wont help.. but I want to say it lol

A few dirty jobs this morning then Ill settle in for my games, crochet and the Olympics..

Have a fab day everyone

Good Morning Ladies, What a night. High winds all night after a wet raining day.So glad I had my Silk Tree cut down a few months ago or it would have been down now. Very strong winds still. Been out and picked up two bags of oranges off the lawn so far today.
Knitting a baby blanket when I get to sit down to watch the games. NZ is doing so well.
Once the weather clears up I will return some of the things into the shed.
Time for me to move as I am off out to morning tea this morning.
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning all - yes Sunflowers I don’t remember wind like it - was thinking am glad I have a flat roof as wind was strong enough to lift a roof - my son lives up where the hospital used to be - all the neighbours outside furniture is in my sons pool was on their top deck - the furniture has wrecked his fancy pool cover
Have started another blanket in my grandsons school colours - grey and red - it’s only single bed size so much smaller than the one for his bed
Mums birthday tomorrow - we are going to have KFC she loved it have no idea why

morning ladies :) Rain, rain, and more rain for today by the looks of it. Just as well us crafters have things we can do indoors.

Yesterday afternoon I watched the Artistic Swimming (we used to call it Synchronised Swimming). OMG those women were amazing. The strength they have to do their routines was incredible. And so beautiful to watch.

While watching the Olympics, I started sewing around the edges of the placemats and have done three so far. I'll finish them today and post some pics later. They aren't perfect by any means but they can be used finally after 30 odd years of sitting in a drawer. So satisfying to have it done.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Heavy rain and rain fade here this morning, it better be ok at 12-30 for the canoeing.. Totally agree Kiwimade re the artistic swimmers... I will say having a good tv sure makes it clearer under the water etc.

Off to see MrP this morning, so Ill have to be home in time for the race. Have to pop into the supermarket on the way and then on the way home for me lol.
Yesterday I returned the branches over the back fence and got everything I needed to housework wise. Much easier looking after one.

Enjoy your KFC Gerry, your mum will be with you.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Another miserable day here by the looks of it.

Yesterday I finished the placemats (thank goodness, I was over them) and am pleased with the results in spite of some of the corners looking like a dog's breakfast. But it was the best I could do with what I had so will live with it. I've taken a photo, just need to upload it and then I'll post it here.

Housework needs doing so will get that done, it won't take long to do. I'll also book myself in for the covid jab as my age band becomes available today. Will be pleased to have that done and dusted for both of us. I didn't realise how much it was bothering me that MrK hadn't had the jab and once he was booked in, it was a huge relief.

Another silver over night, this time in cycling. It would seem the ladies are cleaning up this time round. You go girls!

Olympics for a bit t his afternoon while I sew some more hexagons.

Happy crafting :)
