I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post

OMG I found the diamonds lol.

I knew I would after I ordered a new one... My own fault tho , I thought they were in a long bubble wrap tube but they were in a long box. The box had some in a bag.

So Now I will be able to get back to doing the painting... ill have to decide if I should keep the other kit or put it on here..
MrP reckons I should do it and have one picture in the bedroom and the other in the lounge.

And the room looks wayyyy better

morning ladies :) lmao popeye, I feel this is an 'I-told-you-so' moment. I knew you would find them. That's a great buy for the towels and at that price, who cares if they are white. I've decided to use the 'nice' things. When Mum passed away there was so much linen and other lovely things she was saving for a 'rainy day' she never got to have the pleasure of using. So I decided then to use the 'good' stuff.

This tiny embroidery is taking forever lol. It's around about 10 or 12cms but has 26 colours so lots of finishing off and starting. But I am very happy with what I've done so far and my long and short stitch is improving. I have enough fabric and batting to make two tray mats. The tray MrK made me for my birthday is so handy. The other day it was lovely sitting out in the sun hand sewing the box with all my bits and bobs on it. I seem to be using it regularly.

Today I'm going to see if the mammogram truck is in town and make my appointment directly. I can't phone thanks to the hackers. Thank goodness we don't have any hospital appointments for MrK or his sister.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Lol Kiwimade,, Ive told myself I told me to soo ...

I have been using some of my "pretty or new stuff" years ago I remember my parents buying my grandparents a new and BIG Dinner set.. Once it was opened, Mum then went to the cupboard and pulled out all the Old mismatching and often chipped dinnerset. And we took them away.. That way they Had to use the new one lol.
I admit to getting one thing from my Stepfather, I hate mismatched crockery, if one bit get chipped the rest go too.

Its nice having the sewing room restored.. It is my dumping zone and If I dont want to see it I can shut ot off from the rest of the lounge.

I love trays lol... from small to big, another thing I get from my stepfather... Mum never understood how we were always happy in the Kitchen wear of the bigger stores lol.

The last several day with MrP have been very good... until last night. back to MrParanoid and its everyone elses fault etc etc. He got loud and nasty on the phone so I rang the desk and asked them to warn the carers, and the one that answered the phone said she already knew cos she had been doing the pill rounds and was in the room next to him and heard him on the phone.
I feel I have to warn them, it puts my mind at ease if I know they are fore warned. Even tho I know they are used to dealing with it.
Im meant to be going up this morning but Im waiting until after the drs rounds.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) We ended up in Rotorua yesterday having lunch with two of MrK's sisters. One is under hospice care so we want to make the most of having her with us. While in Rotorua I left MrK to chat and did the grocery shopping and called into Spotlight. They have 40% off ALL fabric and 30% off all wadding so I bought the fabric for our daughter's sewing box and more wadding. It's a gorgeous teal, perfect for what I have in mind and her favourite colour. Now to finish the tray cloth lol. I also want to unpick the hems and back some placemats MrK's mum stitched for me when we were first married (35 years ago!) so we can use them. They are pretty but not practical to use as they are. So another to-do craft list lol.

I thought I had finished raking the leaves but the trees have had other ideas. Another round of leaf raking for me before I go into town for a haircut.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone.
It hasnt rained overnight, the first time to see dry concrete for ages lol.

I went to see MrP yesterday and he was back to his normal mode... And he had his bedroom door open. He was tired but otherwise ok.. I talked to the dr before I went and saw him , so the dr is now up to speed. They took his catheter out and was doing ok.
They have a knitting group there on a Tuesday morning, so I will visit on a Tuesday, and its close to MrPs room and Ill drag him down to talk to another husband who was there yesterday.
I haven't checked with my friend but Hopefully her car is all fixed, Vandals and we will go to the library for the knitting group there too.

My light arrived yesterday Yay... I turned it on last night and nearly blinded myself lol... It was on bright light and the lighted side was facing me lol..... So after hanging a load of washing, I am painting today not that I have everything I need.. again lol.

Kiwimade thats one thing Im been thinking about lately, going to get my hair tidied up at a real hairdressers lol. I havent been in a salon since we moved up here, and longer but 17 years lol.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies - no I haven't died yet. I'm still here. Life has been very strange these last few weeks.

Mr K Mark II was on his way to Auckland a few weeks ago, he said he was going to leave early in the morning, so I'm thinking around 6am, but no, he left at 2.30am. At 3am he phoned and said I've had an accident. He had parked his car in an enormous ditch. A truck coming towards him had it's lights on high beam and blinded him, and he ended up in the ditch, so I had to go and fetch him and bring him home. Car is a write-off, he did over $10,000 worth of damage to a $4000 car!! So he's on the hunt for a new one.

I spent a week down in Papamoa at my friends (sorry, kiwimade, didn't manage to call in this time) and left him at home to walk everywhere he wanted to go. I was only home for a week and then we went to Ohakune to visit a friend of his. Man it was cold. And it's a long way to drive in one day. I did most of the driving both ways and was knackered when we got back. And since then I've been fighting off a nasty cold. Spent two days in bed, and went for a Covid test which thankfully was negative - but it's not very nice having it done. The "discomfort" (won't call it pain) is only very brief though.

And the weather has been lousy so I haven't been able to get out into the garden to do anything even if I felt like it. I did decide to use the blower-vac to deal with the leaves on the deck, and instead of just blowing them into a heap, I sucked the little blighters up. It didn't take long and when I thought I'd finished, I looked round and the bag had disintegrated and all the leaves were in little bits behind me. As fast as they went in the front, they came out the back - insert sad face!

Mr K has gone to Auckland today in a hired car and I'm catching up on chores which have been neglected these last few weeks, and will try to finish some of my almost completed knitting projects - don't tell anyone but I'm knitting a gollywog for the market. Just have to do his hair and sew his shoes on.

We don't have another market now until August, so that gives me time to make a few more things.

Anyway, I suppose I had better get busy and do a few things. I'm going for a haircut tomorrow. Trying to grow it a bit but it's got to the messy stage, so I might end up getting it chopped short again.

Have an awesome day

morning ladies :) *waves to kuaka* No need to apologise for not calling in, time is often of the essence! Omg your MrK MkII, why on earth would he leave so early! He was lucky no one was hurt. Ohakune is a huge distance to drive there and back in one day! I would be knackered too and we live closer to Ohakune than you. And as for your leaf blower, sorry, had to have a chuckle at that one.

Popeye, you won't know yourself with the light. It makes a huge difference when crafting. Even MrK has been known to borrow mine occasionally. And he's reluctant to give it back lol.

I had my hair cut yesterday and it feels so good. I should never have left it for so long. I didn't get to mow the lawn so will be out there shortly mowing before it rains again.

I've almost finished the flower for the tray mat, only a couple of small bits to do. In saying that, there are about six colour changes for that teeny bit. I'll need to be organised and make sure any machine sewing I need to do is done by Sunday as we are having another all day power cut. Whatever work they are doing is done over two days split over six weeks. This will be the second day.

Happy crafting :)

Good Morning Ladies, Will the sun is out, but wet weather is coming up the coast. Yes! I need to get my hair cut as well. Not sure what going on with my hair. Had very healthy thick hair up to the last few months. See what the hairdresser thinks when I go on Saturday.

Tuesday evening I went to do the dishes and make a hot drink, before seating down to do some knitting.
Filled the jug and everything went downhill. I could not turn off the hot water tap at the sink. Checked the board in case I had overloaded it. Was ok! Went to turn the power off from the water heater, and the next thing I just about hit the floor. Thank goodness that I had rubber sole slippers on.
I rang 105 and the crew on duty were very helpful. Sent a fire engine out with a couple of guys. They checked everything at the board inside and outside. By now no hot water.
In the morning I phoned the plumber as we were not sure what was going on. Checked it out for me and they rang the Electric. An hour later I had some new wiring done. So that will be a big bill that I could do without for now.
This morning I have the painter(s) back to do the last coat of paint in the shed.
Good to hear from you kuaka. You take care of yourself. Are you going to do the markets this year when the boats come in or are you over it? I don't think we will see many boats this year.
Kiwimade and Popeye, I hope you are both are ok. Yes, I have had a long road to go before it's all over.
Hope everything is going ok for you now popeye. Good to hear you have been out and about. Have you been to the knitting group yet?
Can't wait to have a holiday. The family are asking me when will I come up to see them?
The house on one side of my house is getting done up. It was sold about a couple of months ago and workmen have been going in and out since.
Monday an agent came and put a For Sale Sign on the other side of me. People in it are renters. They moved in about the same time we brought our place. Hope it's a family as it's a good kept home and section. The couple is downsizing.
Coffee break over, washing to hang out.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning ladies, no, we didn't go to Ohakune and back the same day, we went on the Monday morning and came back Thursday morning. It took us almost eight hours to get there with several stops on the way and nearly 12 hours to get back, because there was a fatal accident just south of Kaiwaka and we had to detour through Mangawhai, Had this happen to me once before when the original Mr K was still with us, and it took me over 5 hours to get home from Auckland - usually allow 3 hours. This time instead of going back to State Highway 1 we went up through Mangawhai Heads and came out at Waipu which cuts out going over the Brynderwyns. The traffic was bumper to bumper and stationery for ages. Nothing you can do about it in that situation, just feel sad for the person who died and their family and friends, and realise that there really is no need to hurry - just drive carefully.

I need a new range hood. Mr K MarkII was flambe-ing some steak one night and the next thing the flames were up into the range hood and I'm lucky the whole house didn't go up in smoke - should have maybe left it long enough to get a new kitchen, but he soon doused the flames but the range hood is stuffed. It still works believe it or not, but sounds like a Massey Ferguson tractor!

The chap who bought my boat emailed some pics a few weeks ago, and I went to see it. He's done a huge amount of work on her. He said he's worked on her 7 days a week for 5 months, and it's now on the hardstand at the marina. He said to go and have a look so I did. He's made a new bowsprit, renovated the masts and made new spreaders, he's re-rigged it, re-wired it, repainted it, re-carpeted it, and has put new stanchions on her. He has removed the dog-house that Mr K had built and was waiting for a "dodger" to be installed. She looks lovely. He said "I suppose you want her back now". No, I'm just pleased that he bought her and was able to do all the work, she looks lovely.

Right, I'd better get organised, going to get my nails done this afternoon and hopefully get a haircut - it's one of those "walk in and wait" places, no appointments.

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) OMGGG kuaka! You could have been in serious trouble with that fire. I would say ban MrK MII from the kitchen but then you would have to do all the cooking. I hope he's replacing the rangehood. How fantastic 'your' boat is being loved and great how you were able to go and see it. Maybe the new owner will take you out on her when she's finished.

It must be hair cut season lol with everyone wanting or getting their hair done. While chatting with my new hairdresser, I found out she has the Furry One's nephew. Omg he sounds just like our boy lol. A great wee hunter and full of beans.

Housework for me today, it doesn't take long to do now. I'll be overlocking fabric this afternoon and hope to finish my tray mat. I'm very happy with the small embroidered corner. Once it's finished I'll post a pic.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Yeah Bubble wrap is what you need Kuaka lol. Banning him from the kitchen would be a problem but maybe you could sit there with a Glass of wine keeping an eye on him lol.

Its lovely that the new owner let you see your old boat.. Its always nice when you sell something to know that it will be loved and treated with care.

Small world for your hairdressers having the Furry ones nephew.

years ago when we had Mum funeral service , the Lady that did the service was a friend from years back. She asked was it ok to bring her Corgi as she didnt like leaving him behind... Turned out he was our Corgi's grandson.. he was Very much like Rusty in his look at cheekiness.

I have a lunch date with MrP today.. Ill be going up to do my INR, getting him a cheap loaf of bread for the birds and grabbing fish and chips on the way. We are both looking forward to it.. I hope he is in a good mood when I get there. So fingers crossed.

I did some homework on giving up the landline and checking prices on broadband.. We will go with skinny, since the price is more than half less than what we are paying now... And our Mobiles are with them too.

I got the new e-reader all hooked up so I can go back to not having to carry heavy baq's of books or having to go to the other side of town to get them. yay

morning ladies :) There is just a slight mist this morning, it looks really pretty with the sun coming out.

We have no regrets about giving up the landline, popeye. It's cheaper and no scammers. And it makes us use the minutes on our mobiles. MrK would still make toll calls on the landline even though we had paid for monthly minutes.

I have a small bit of hand sewing to do on the tray cloth then it will be finished so I can take a pic. There is enough fabric left over to stitch another one and I have that almost ready to start.

Well so much for the little bit of mist... it's more like fog now.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone, cloudy here.
Sounds like everyone is keeping busy.
No sewing for past 4 days. DH had some surgery involving overnight stay on Tuesday so few across town trips. Plus following up post Haste couriers every day for a parcel dispatched 1 June and scanned in this city 4 June. I dislike this provider as the past 3 parcels they have had don't get delivered until I contact the retailer who sent it. I suspect a lazy courier driver. So 10 days to get my fabric. Winge over. Fabric is woollen blend brushed red tartan that I am going to use to back an old grey army blanket, hope to get 2 warm blankets. That's my weekend project,

Good Morning Ladies Very overcast here this morning. My firewood arrived around 4 yesterday. I moved as much as I could last night. This morning I am moving more wood so that I can get it behind the gates. I can cover it now easier.
Off to a craft evening, next Monday night and have been asked if I can show them some wet and dry felting. I will finish getting it altogether over the w/end.
Hope you get your fabric in a day or so. The blankets will look great. Look forward to seeing them.
Popeye, I think I need the bubble wrap for myself the way things are going at present.
Coffee breaks over, back out to that wood.
Have a great w/end everyone.
Cheers for now.

Morning everyone
Clear as a ball here and chilly.

Your right Kiwimade I seldom used any minutes on my mobile, and now cos I went up one level, they roll over. I might see how I go minute wise for a month and then will know if I can cope. Without sending family the spare phone so I can ring them for nothing.

Spoke to a lovely lady at winz yesterday who is working with me. She told me that the rest home should be transporting MrP to his clinic appointment and gave me the senior line number who are great support. Yes the home should be doing it. but the admin lady never mentioned it, trying to save the home money.
So they told me to talk to the head nurse and get it arranged.

One thing I have discovered through this whole thing is Im not good at taking praise, alot of people have said Ive done a wonderful job and they wouldnt have stuck at it so long.. Thats something Im not used to hearing.

Washing today. dishes and clothes lol..

And Im going to list some stuff on here.. needs to be done or Ill end up like a hoarder of more than wool and books etc. Im not ready to tackle the kitchen tho, but the two banana boxes of cake tins etc needs to go too lol.

Wow Mica thats a long time to wait for a parcel.. Ive never been keen on fastway, now Aramex but they seemed to have got their act together since the name change.

the stubborn aggies are 'tucked in' with an old tarp and cut up rubbish bag covering them. Hopefully this will do the trick. I was going to smother the other clump but they are growing under a tree so I would end up killing the tree too. Mind you, that may be a good thing lol. So it's back to digging with that lot.

Here's a pic of the tray cloth :)

Hi, kiwimade, Just saw the lovely hand-stitching you been doing over the last few weeks. My mother did a lot of hand stitching over the years. I was lucky she gave me her pieces before going into a rest home.

The aggies are very hard to move. We had them when we had our place in Auckland. Mr M mixed up salt and hot water sprayed them a few times. around them and over them. They ended up killed. Just have to be careful around the area as the salt in the soil for some time. I can't think what we replaced the area. I know we dug the area and put fresh soil around the area.
Have a Great Evening ladies.

morning ladies :) We're up before sparrows fart this morning as the power is due to go off for the second round of maintenance at the sub station soon. We get this twice a year and pretty much the whole district will have no power unless they have a generator.

Thanks for your kind words about my tray mat, I'm very happy with it.

That's a great tip using salt and hot water, sunflowers. I'll try that on the covered clump and on any aggies that are brave enough to pop up again. Unfortunately, I can't use it on the last clump under a tree without killing that too.

Time to get moving, I still have a few things to do before the power is turned off.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

You should feel very proud of yourself Kiwimade, Its a beautiful cloth.

Im going to be defrosting the upright freezer this morning once I get the bones moving lol.. I need to have a sort out as Im going to try and downsize and defrost at the same time. Its a bit Mad to have 4 freezers for one person.
Its always a good feeling to have the ice gone, and Ill start with the easiest, I can just roll it to the door of the garage and use a hose.

I picked rhubarb yesterday, and have enough for about three breakfasts. I need to look up and see what I can feed them with. The stalks are as thick as last year... so if anyone has tips they will be welcomed.
The geranium I rescued from the rest home is surviving, the flowers are open and it hasn't wilted since I put it in the pot. Not bad for something without roots lol

I didnt paint yesterday but will be today.

I put the last of the 20 kilo bag of flower into my storage containers yesterday. Had it since Covid last year. If I was still making bread or baking for the kids it would have been gone ages ago lol.. I fancy some cheese scones for my lunch today.

Have a fab day everyone

Hello ladies,
Taking a break from quilting. Using my tartan fabric with old army blankets have appliqued a dog on the blanket. So hard to stop and take breaks but if I don't my shoulders let me know . So much dust coming off the blankets despite washing first will have to have a good vacuum when finished.
Those Aggie's will have to surrender sooner or later Kiwimade.
Can't help re rhubarb we like it but it just doesn't like growing at our place so our neighbour across the way keeps us supplied

Morning everyone
Yep up early, MrP wants pork crackle lol
Its easier to get up and cook it in the morning so its nice and fresh when he gets it.
Im going to have a chat with the clinical manager about them supplying the transport. It will be easier for him, and me cos I really shouldn't be lifting the wheelchair, and his fee covers transport and I simply cant afford it.

I still didnt get any painting done yesterday. Missy is very clingy and spending alot of time holding me ransom on my chair. I love Missy cuddles so the painting can wait. I dont get as many in the summer.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Your tartan blanket sounds gorgeous, mica. It wouldn't be a Westie or Scotty that you're putting on the blanket? Where did you find the army blanket?

Popeye, MrK's brother-in-law is in a home and they arrange for transport to and from his hospital appointments. Same deal as you, it's part of the fee for staying there. So make sure they make the arrangements but let you know when things are happening.

Yesterday we spent most of the day with my sister. When her house was built (in one of those retirement villages), a big gap was left between the kitchen pipe and shelf and mice are finding their way in. The hole is so big, you can't buy a 'collar' to fit round the pipe and block the hole. MrK is going to cut a piece of thin timber to fit around it and block the hole as scrunched up tinfoil will only last so long. The people who run the village don't want to know about it.

It's meant to be a wet day today so maybe, I'll be able to do a bit more stitching. At least the power is on today lol. It came on about an hour early yesterday.

Happy crafting :)

I think we're going to have more rain today so I should be able to finish the stitching on the cloth and maybe even start drawing the design for our daughter's sewing box. It's going to take some time and patience.

Morning everyone,

I was thinking yesterday that the Field days must be soon.. That will be a gumboot event for sure..
You will still hear the tyres on the road Kiwimade.. But yeah very quiet motors lol..

MrP loved his crackle to the point that he didnt eat their lunch, well apart from the pudding which I have to say was a lovely apple shortcake I think it was. But it had cinnamon and lovely home made custard.. I was putting his washing away and found 3 shirts with his name on that didnt belong to him. so have given those back. We are still missing his jeans and belt.

I painted for 3 hours and thoroughly enjoyed myself and the muscles aren't aching so it only need a couple of days. Madam wanted to sit on my knee while I painted which I did for a little while but she got grumpy with me moving my hand so the little Madam bit me so she got a gentle smack and growling, while I hugged her.. she's very clingy at the mo' but she has to learn not to bite and that I have to do things too.

Will be more painting today once Ive made some phone calls. All this money stuff is doing my head in.

Hows this for Dumb.

Got a letter dated 11 June, for MrPs clinic appointment.. on June 21st.

Which arrived yesterday 14th June

Instructions..

14 days before the appointment do a urine test.

Im like where are their heads.. lol

Morning all,
Finished a hat and one bootie to go with latest cardi last night.
Off to quilting group today 2nd time of going will be taking one of my blankets to stitch the binding down. The army blankets were my FILs stored for 37 in back of spare room wardrobe. Knew I would use them one day lol. We cleared that wardrobe out a few weeks ago mainly spare bedding most has gone to Vincent de Paul.
Yes Kiwimzce there is a Scotty applique on one of the blankets, etc but the scale is too small size restricted due to availability, of fabric. The other blanket has a mod dog used scrap of my red coat wool fabric.
Popeye the hospital would do better if they emailed, (tongue in check comment here) are you sure the appt is not for next year lol
Have good day

Good Morning Ladies, Overcast at present but can see lovely pale blue clouds moving up here. Been busy moving firewood into the shed.Going back out again to do more loads.
Had a wonderful evening out with a group of ladies last night. Had hot choc sauce pudding and coffee. The room was set up with craft tables and we could either move around or stay at one table. Enjoyed the evening.
Looking forward to seeing your blankets, Mica. I had a heap of blankets and made scarves, jackets, bags. Still have some. Once I have returned my fabric and wool bins out to the shed again I have room to craft again.

Good hear you visited Mr P and he enjoyed his pork crackle.
Had to smile about the appointment card. Yes, let the home take him to his appointments. They are given the money for it. Did you know that Wins will give you $300 a year for his clothes? Follow it up Popeye.

Is it that time of the year for the Field days..where has the year gone?
I have to go down to the Doctors for a check-up with the nurse this afternoon, otherwise, in meantime, I will move some more firewood. Ha, Ha.
Have a great day everyone.

morning ladies :) it wouldn't be the Field Days without fog and rain lol. It's looking quite bleak out there but that's not stopping the traffic.

I didn't know that about the $300, sunflowers. I know you can claim $300 for emergency dental care so is that the 'same' money?

Yesterday I finished the stitching on the tray mat and I'm very happy with it. The pansy actually looks like a pansy lol. I just need to sew it all together and might do that today seeing as my sewing machine is still out.

I've started planning our daughter's sewing box and have the pattern all drafted out ready for cutting. And I've sketched six shells for the box's side. I'm thinking I may need a couple more. The fun part will be choosing which colours and stitches to use when embroidering them. I need to buy and download the dolphin pattern for the lid at some stage too. I love putting ideas together.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone,
Mild overcast day here.
Kiwimade love hearing about your project planning.
Completed stitching the binding on the wool dog blanket yesterday, quite pleased with how it has turned out.

Not sure what I will tackle today - possibly a hooded baby bath towel seems a better option than tackling my tax return which I want to get done this week.
Have a good day

Morning everyone

Love the blanket Mica3... very cool.

Lol Kiwimade re the fog etc. One of the coldest days Ive ever had was at the field days one year. It took the walk up the hill and the heater in the car to thaw me out. And I hate having hot air in the car lol.

Yesterday was a day spent on the phone and winz and mis information etc.. I just gave up in the end.

I got MrPs clinic appointment changed tho lol

Yes Sunflowers I new about the clothing money.. A couple of weeks before he went into the rest home we got a clothing grant cos his clothes were falling off him.. And that one we have to pay back lol... If Id known we would have waited lol.

Not sure what Im doing today, Im going to ignore all the bookwork stuff tho, another day wont hurt.

Have a fab day everyone

Afternoon Everyone, We have a lovely blue sky with a few clouds. My view from my home office. Was out this morning for Morning Tea and we called into a couple of garden plant places. The plants will be planted over the next few days. Added to my herb bed as well.
All my Spring Bulbs Beds are starting to show flower heads. Did not weed the beds, just left them to flower this year. Left the bulbs up later.

Popeye I did not have to repay the clothing fund from Wins. Did it for my mother the three years she was in care. Wins paid for my last lot of emergency dental care .
Mr M did not get the clothing fund as he was not in care for 12 months. He was in and out of care for the last 16 months..
Ok, late lunch and a cup of tea finished and need to wheel some firewood in as it's clouded over now.
Enjoy the crafting ladies this afternoon.

Popeye My husband is in a rest home Dementia Unit. I can not highly enough of the care he is given. The staff are lovely and boy I do feel for them with some of the treatment they get from patients. I will take my husband to any appointments if need be as I want to know what is going on.
The clothing allowance was $292-00 and is paid out on April 1st automatically.
We have a charge of $15-00 per day for the ensuite which all the rooms have in this home. That is not paid by Winz as it classed as an extra.
He did lose his top plate teeth and I had to claim replacements on our insurance.
I have found Winz very understanding and helpful as well as Disability Services.
Keep your chin up and look after yourself.

morning ladies :) Congratulations huntlygirl, on your new great grandie! Gosh your granddaughter did well :D :D

I love the tartan binding on the blanket, mica. It gives an old blanket a fresh look and tidies up any scrappy edges.

I didn't finish sewing the second tray mat as I need to either buy dark green bias binding or make some for the edges. It could mean a trip into town today but I suspect it will be a Spotlight visit when in Tauranga next week.

Yesterday I finished sketching the shells and planned the colours and stitches I could use. As usual with me, this will probably change as I go but it's a starting point. Today, I'll have a tutu with some old fabric and see if my ideas will work. No point using the new fabric if I am unpicking all the time.

Happy crafting :)

Have a good day

Morning everyone.
Congratulations Huntlygirl.. your grand daughter did well. Handy she was so close.
Yeah the clothing grant we got was when he was still at home, so has to be repaid.. But the next one in April wont need to be.

I went to Pukekohe yesterday and just wandered around everywhere. Got MrP some peanut slabs in the warehouse and decided to have a look ay the clearance shelves. Found e-reader covers for 97 cents each. There was two so for some reason I got both. Then I looked on the web last night they were originally $45 each..!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. And I certainly would pay that much lol.....So Im pleased I went in lol.

Have to do my bloods get a couple of things for MrP and then visit him this morning.. And Ill have my own bulldog on, re his missing clothes lol.

They are awesome there, they dont have the emotion tied into the patients.

It was soo good to see the field days being so well supported.. My all time fave part is the woodcutting. Our Dutch friend couldn't understand that a woman loved it so much. But I remember seeing a lot when I was a kid. Love the noise, the smell etc.

morning ladies :) The traffic is streaming by for the last day of the Field Days. The early birds went by at 5.00am. It's overcast and a tad foggy, typical weather.

I'm having a tutu with colours and stitches for the sewing box and so far so good. MrK keeps checking over my shoulder and asking what I'm doing. I can tell he's bored as it's too cold for him to be out in his workshop. One day we're going to have to get him a heater for out there lol.

It's been about a week since I've smothered the stubborn aggies and I'm so tempted to peek lol. I'll give it a few more months and look in the spring. In the meantime I still have a few to dig out but they will have to wait until the weather is nicer (you can tell I'm procrastinating, if it was a rose I'd be out there in all weathers).

South Pacific roses will be digging up my 'Blush Beauty' soon and I can't wait to have that established in the garden. It's a gorgeous buff, soft coffee colour and will look great along the back fence. It's an 'old world' rose so will fit right in.

I haven't had to weed the garden all winter thanks to the mulch. It was so worth every load I put on. Can't wait to see the results over summer too.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone,
Just had a catch up with one of my friends from Taranaki that has been to Wellington for CWI . she had a ball.

MrP was good yesterday.. his jeans and belt were in his wardrobe when I hung some clothes in there. He doesnt remember them putting them in there, so they either put them in when he was asleep or having a shower. soo pleased I found them before I went to see the laundry.
When we spoke last night he mentioned having to redo his licence... I changed the subject

I went to the Junktion after I saw MrP they had cushions on sale for 50 cents and further around I found a piece of fabric with Japanese ladies in their Kimono's, so I checked for size and Ill make a new cover and use the insert from the cushion I checked that had a clean insert in.. It will be a cool cushion.

Housework for me over the weekend... otherwise i'Il paint

Your garden sounds wonderful Kiwimade.

Morning everyone

Have Fun Kiwimade the whole process of designing and doing is fun eh. Im not as clever or artistic as you are by any means but its still neat when you can See something and make it.

I cant believe I slept till 8-40 am... lol.. Im getting up to 9.5 hours sleep a night , making up for the summer nights when its too hot to sleep.

The other day I got (finally found) a long with long sleeves nightie.. Ive always worried that the polar fleece type fabric would grab, but it was lovely. I did wake up hot at one stage but otherwise it was nice to sleep in. Im going to see if I can order another one online to keep for the future. Im not ready to part with my 23 year old one tho lol.

Yesterday was 32 years since MrP and I got together. Certainly had our tests and trials, but its nice to reach that long.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) It has been persisting down most of the night and is still raining heavily. I expect our creek to be flooding into the neighbouring paddock soon. We'll be fine though as we're higher up. Even the Furry One doesn't want to go outside to pee.

Last night I watched the Great British Sewing Bee on demand and loved it. I'm not one for these reality shows but I think I enjoyed this as it was not only a topic I love but the contestants were actually doing the sewing. I've given up on the likes of the Block as all they do is paint and have those stupid mini contests.

I cut the side of the sewing box yesterday and have started the first bit of embroidery. I did make a change to the depth of the box so it will be two inches deeper. I'm using imperial as my cutting mat is imperial and I like to be consistent.

Lucky me lol, I get to embroider today thanks to the rain. Ironing and a few other little things to do first.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
I think we had rain but the bread I put out last night is still in one piece lol..
Its was sunny most of the day yesterday and not cold.

Im with you when it comes to reality programs Kiwimade. I like some of the cooking shows but not the stupid ones on deserted islands, building rooms etc.. Basically I dont like the cattiness and scheming that goes on and plain greediness of the people. I might have a look at the sewing bee one tho. Have a friend who loves RuPauls one lol..

I will gather up the junk and rubbish this morning before I go to see MrP, then I can do the floors later or in the morning. Id like to paint this afternoon.

Yesterday I changed the bath mat and toilet one in my ensuite, wow what a difference it made. I didnt realise how dark the black and red ones made the room.
So I went to my ribbons to find a soft green one to use as tie backs for the curtains and didnt have anything that would work. So I ordered some from Alliexpress, then sometime through the night I thought you Stupid Fool, I could crochet some lol... So I will do that in the next day or so. Im bound to have a good match in my stash lol Its always handy to have alot of diff coloured ribbons.

Have a fab day everyone..

morning ladies :) The suns out at last. And not a breath of wind either. The Furry One will be happy as every now and then he would poke his nose through the doggy door wanting to go out but not wanting to get wet.

I'm still working on the first shell for the box. Already I have unpicked it once lol as I had a better idea for working the embroidery. Hopefully I can finish this shell today.

happy crafting :)

Hi everyone,
Great day for the sewing cave today. Torrential rain and a bit of wind. I'm with the furry one don't even want to poke my nose out. The K9s are not asking for their daily walk.
Had success dyeing a wool baby blanket over the weekend so will trim and bind the edges today not sure what else I will get up to I am sure I will find something.

Morning everyone
Fine and still here too.
I have the floors to do today, then I will make the ribbons for the curtains and then I want to unpick the zip from the cushion cover

I took the fabric to show MrP yesterday and he loved it. Normally he is non committal and not really interested in things like that, so it was cool.

The Jeans I got the other day Fitted him... Yay so I need to take about 6 inches from the bottom. Its years since we have been able to find him jeans to fit.

Have a fab day everyone

Good Morning Ladies. Just about another flood yesterday. Some areas had flooding in streets and around their houses. People were asking for the council to get the pumps going.
Still cold and wet this morning. I need to pop out to the store and will put a light to the fire when I come back.
Did very little yesterday, had an afternoon sleep as the family came online Saturday night. Good to see them and talk with them.A repeat again Sunday night. It's good to catch up with them in England.

Need to tidyup my craft area inside. It going out to my new room which is part of the carshed when I get around to putting some floor covering down.

My spring bulbs along fenceline out the front are starting to flower. Still alot to do in the gardens. My herbs are doing well that I replaced.
Look forwad to have a Summer veggies garden again.

I'm so happy for you Popeye It sounds like you have had some good times when you called in to see MrP at the rest home lately. You both will have your up and downs days.

Yes! it is a good day to do some crafting when weather cold and wet Kiwmade. Hope the box works out for you. I'm sure your daugther will like it and use it as well. I know how cold and wet it can get around that area.Been waiting to come over to see family. There has been some slips and flooding on the Napier /Taupo road. A truck rolled over and down the bank last week.
Mica, thanks for sharing your sewing and knitting with us. Love your coat that you made for yourself. Hope your fabric turns up this weekfor you.
Time to move and do some jobs that are calling me.
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning from a miserable day in the Bay - hope you are OK Sunflower and your street isn’t one that flooded again - yesterday was diabolical but thankfully the rain stopped in the afternoon - some families are still not back in their state houses from the previous flood -
My grandson had his school ball - the girls in all their beautiful dresses and hair dos were scrambling to get inside before getting drenched .Four girls I know had their dresses made in China - sent their measurements and picked the fabric from a picture - the dresses arrived two days before the ball - my niece was lucky hers was perfect - but the other 3 were all too big - at least they could be altered if they had been too small it would have been chaotic - stupid risk to take in my opinion
I finished my blanket - wish I could put a picture on here - can upload photos from my iPad to trademe but not on here - it’s perfect for his room .I started another knee rug in Tunisian crochet with some of the left over wool but am starting again just going to do normal crochet - love the texture of Tunisian crochet but I am too slow
Kiwimade there is a fantastic program on Netflix- Australian renovation- it’s very old houses that look like ruins - there is no drama for the cameras - Mr K would appreciate the hard work they do to restore as much of the beautiful wood as they possibly can
Pleased to read Popeye that Mr P is settling down - but he will have days that are hard to deal with
Better get cracking
