Morning everyone

Good luck in the aggies today Kiwimade... such a sense of achievement will be good when you are finished.

Yeah today is going to be a biggie.. The social worker rang yesterday. she had seen MrP and couldn't get over the change in him. But she hadnt seen or heard him on Monday. He is like Jekyll and Hyde and I wonder if its Bipolar... Im going to have to bring up things that happened on Saturday the day before he went into hospital, and hes not going to like it. but its pretty much the final nasty.

Had parcels in the mail yesterday. Some watches so Ill be giving MrP a choice of what one he wants up there. For some reason he took his off before he left.
And a pair of thermal gloves, supposedly fingerless but they go to the bottom of my fingernails.. They are snug but not too tight and uncomfortable. I was really impressed with them so ordered some more. I initially only got one pair to see how they fitted etc. Im very pleased with them. Im sure I will be wearing them all winter.

I didnt end up painting yesterday. The lawn people arrived and for the first time in ages the grass gave me a headache...

Missy knows Im going out. I feel sorry for her but there has to be some trips out such as drs bloods etc.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :D :D :D Looks like we're having a nice day today. I'll open windows shortly.

The aggies are out and the aggies I couldn't dig out because they were growing through metal and compacted ground have been sprayed. New growth was coming along beside the sliced tubers so while they are small, I sprayed. Yesterday was perfect for spraying as there was no wind and the sun was out. Now I have to get rid of my mess lol but that won't take long to do. Am so pleased to see them go and can start planning the new look.

My sister visited yesterday with her new little camper van and we decided it needs new curtains so we'll be doing that soon. And MrK fixed a couple of things for her and showed her how to check the oil and water. You would think the Furry and Fluffy Ones hadn't seen each other for months by the way they raced around.

Last evening I started unpicking a throw I knitted for dad. We don't need it and it had stretched all out of proportion. It's quite a mission as when I make something, it's made to last lol. I'll add it to the memory blanket I'm currently knitting.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Ohh you must be soo pleased to have all the aggies gone , well almost Kiwimade..

Yesterday was on of my roughest. As soon as I got to MrP he started saying he was going home. I just ignored each comment and distracted him with something out the window.
The mental health team came in and he started with them and told them, You cant keep me here, but Alex said Actually MrP we can do that .
Saw the Social worker once MrP had calmed down and 5 hours later he agreed. Fake crying cos he had no tears..
He said I wont be able to go shopping with you.. I said your only going to have your bedroom in another building, Ill still come and see you, take you shopping and bring you home to see Missy.
So 6 hours later I left. Thank goodness I had been frugal cos it was $23 for the parking.
I had the foulest of headaches.. but Im glad that day is over. I do wonder if he will still play up tho.

When I did my red and white blanket I got one row mixed up Kiwimade, It took me two hours to undo the one row..... but the bonus is you know how you sew ends in etc.

Would you ladies know what sort of shop would sell magnifying glasses that are on a stand and have led lighting on them? Ive seen them on here and price wise they are way more than what you can buy from china. But I was trying to think where you would buy them here.. Ill check Spotlight but thats as far as my brain can think lol..

Have a fab day everyone

Popeye donkeys years ago I got a Daylight light from Spotlight it doesn’t have a magnifier but it is brilliant - you can control how strong you want the light as it has a cover that lifts from the bottom it is the closest light to natural light - it can be a desk light but my old boy put it on a d shackle and hung it from a stand - has a long bulb looks like a fluorescent light best thing it doesn’t generate any heat which the cheap ones do and make it uncomfortable to use - I bought it when we lived in Taupo so must be 15 years old !

morning ladies :) You will both get used to the new normal, popeye. And I think you will find you are both happier in the long run. I have a day-light on a stand with a magnifying glass attached. It's a long light too, sounds very similar to Gerry's one. I bought it from Spotlight years ago and love it. When I did my one and only diamond dot painting not long ago I used both a light pad and the light. Even MrK uses them both occasionally.

MrK is making me a wooden rimu tray for my birthday. It's the perfect size for us, it will take two cups, the tea pot and a plate for bickkies. Nnot that we have bickkies then lol, I think that part is a hint. We often have a cuppa outside in the morning and if I make the tea, I have to make a couple of trips in and out if I want my phone and reading glasses too.

I have finally convinced MrK we no longer need our landline as we use our mobiles more and more. It only took two more calls from scammers during his Emmerdale episodes to make him mad enough to change lol. If only I had known that two years ago lol. So our phone line is going naked. And about time too. I contacted Spark yesterday and it's done and dusted. Just have to wait out the 30 days notice.

I have finished unpicking dad's throw, it's been a long time since I have had to unpick something like that. I have three blocks knitted for the blanket now and have started on a fourth. An easy, no think knit.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
Looks like a mixed bag weatherwise today.

Im washing a crochet Blanket I made for MrP in around 95-96 ish, this morning but Ill put it in front of the dehumidifier.. Its just as good as a dryer lol.

I thought I remembered you mentioning your Day Light Kiwimade.. will check them out later.

I plan to go naked too, well Id like to but there's two people that we/I talk to for long chats, one that is with 2 degrees and the others dont use mobiles, and that's what is holding me back. If they were with skinny like I am it wouldn't cost anything.

I will be cancelling sky too most likely, Ill see how the money stuff works out before I so tho... mind you there's not alot on sky that I watch but there's a couple that I do like alot.

The Blanket and Apples today. I told MrP yesterday that I got some on Thursday, so he advised me on the easiest to peel them.. I know how but have just never liked doing them lol.

Have a fab day everyone

Two bins full with aggies and clippings as the lawns are mowed. What a mission. You wouldn't believe it has only been a week since they were last done.

My light wasn't cheap, popeye, but I think it was $$$ well spent. You won't regret buying one as they are so useful.

Time for that cuppa, I know I've earned it.

Good morning beautiful day - yes the Daylight lamp was expensive I think but I had a cheaper one and the bulbs which were not the cheap ones from the supermarket kept blowing and it generated so much heat I could have fried an egg - but touch wood my daylight has been to Oz and back I use it a lot and it still is the original bulb
Popeye TV1 and 3 on demand have so many old series you can go back and watch you might find you can do without sky

Beautiful day here. You will be so glad to see the back of the Aggie's KM.
Popeye the lamp will be a good investment probably worth putting your Sky sub payment towards it lol
Finished knitting last baby blanket have completed the back of a cardi for DD baby. So small.
Off to play with my new machine feet. Bought HD roller foot since I want to sew a bit of leather and vinyl. Leather for a necessary clutch purse and silver vinyl for a tote. plan on sewing these at a sewing retreat in May.

Morning ladies. I really enjoy lurking and reading your thread. Hardly come on TM now as I.m always so tired and eyes start to hurt after a while. Have always said, I have MS but it doesn.t have me, but just at the moment, I'm thinking its the other way around.

I see some of you ladies make baby blankets. I have a baby grand daughter
arriving in August...probably the last grandies, and I would love to get her a blanket for her bassinet and cot. So if anyone cares to make one and sell on here, I would be a very happy granny. Pink, of course...haha

Morning ladies...I have just bought a beautiful woollen blanket off TM.

morning ladies :) Now that's a good idea, mica! To use the sky sub for the daylight lol. We don't have Sky as we have the other streaming platforms. And TVNZ have a great back catalogue as gerry said.

It's foggy here but the sun is battling through so we should end up with a fine day. I'm going to have a cruisey day today I think. Which probably means I'll be cleaning out the porch lol. The spiders have moved in and it's time they were evicted. Speaking of evicting, that freeloading mouse I spotted dashing across the kitchen floor can go too. I knew we had a mouse as the Furry One 'told' me. Nothing gets passed that nose.

But first I'm off into town for the civic ANZAC service. Lest we forget.

Morning everyone

Hiya Craftylady nice to see you back. Pleased your found a nice blanket.. Ohh babies are yummy to make for ..

I ordered a magnifying / led light last night, but will save for a "Day" light as well. will plod along with the painting using a hand held glass and overhead light for now.

I too am going to have a cruisy day, but I will vacc the lounge. Then Im going to see where MrP has hidden his other phone... and trust me That could be anywhere lol
I spoke to him twice yesterday. He was very quiet in the morning , said he hadnt had much sleep so I told him to sleep in the afternoon and he was a little better. He's ok, still not happy with the decision but I think deep down he knows its the only option.

Have a fab day everyone

Good morning - beautiful day but chilly to start though
Popeye wait until spotlight have their annual discount of everything sale -
Is Mr Ps permanent care settled ?
This house must have been sprayed just before I bought it - no spiders at all and I noticed the flies dropped dead on the window sills but we have a creek at the back and the mosquitoes pour in if I leave a window open and a light on
I am going to crochet along the starting edge to see how much wool it takes so I know how much I will need to put a border around it - because the wool comes from overseas I thought I might avoid another drama and be a bit proactive- the pattern hasn’t got a border but I am going to be a tiger for punishment and finish it off with the dark grey

Hi Gerry
No Im still waiting to hear what the DR and Needs Assessor say about what level of care he needs.
Ive asked for an info pack from the local one here/ I tried Ringing yesterday but Didnt get through so Ill leave it till Tuesday.

popeye333 - 2021-04-25 12:19:00
17020

morning ladies :) Gerry, we use those plug in mozzie repellents in the bedrooms and they work really well. We can keep our window open and no mozzies. I like the sound of a crochet edge around the blanket, it 'tidies' the edges up and being crochet, should be much quicker than knitting an icord or something similar.

Another foggy morning this morning but it looks like the sun is trying to come through so it shouldn't be here for long. I didn't clean the porch so will do that today.

My to-do list is down to two items, finish mulching the garden and clean the carpet. I can't do the carpet until there is a couple of fine days and the mulch until it arrives. It's been a busy few months.

The neighbour's dog has jumped the gate to play with the Furry One. She whines at the door and when I open it and sidles up to me for a cuddle. The way she looks at me is almost like she is asking permission to come and play lol. She visits most days now, sometimes two or three times.

I've knitted four squares of another 'block' of nine, it's really a mixed bag of colours.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Clear here and coolish.

We dont get alot of insects. I suspect the house was sprayed before we moved in.. We get crickets lol. cos there's a gap under the garage door. Missy plays with them, to the end oops lol. Have had a few flies this year so perhaps its wearing off.

I can imagine the visitor asking if he / she can play Kiwimade... Like in "our" day when you went to your friends house to see if they could play, not arranging it online or via texts lol.

MrP was down yesterday, he wants to come home for a couple of nights before he goes into a home. But that Wont be happening, cos I know he wouldn't want to leave. I will try and contact the social worker today to see what is taking so long.. he might be able to go to our small hospital here in town, temporarily until a bed is free in the rest home.

Im planning on painting today, I had a chit of a night, couldn't get comfortable so will take an Oxy later and rest my bones. Thankfully they work and dont mess with my head lol so I shouldn't make any mistakes. I always double check that Ive picked up the number that I need before I start. A bit like Measure twice cut once...lol

Morning everyone
A wet Monday and we just had a very heavy shower. Cooler too.

I just seemed to drift through yesterday. I didn't paint. My friend from Taranaki rang so that was an hour long chat lol went to put the pork hock on for my tea and it was Off.. I couldn't believe it. So I very quickly nipped up to NW and got another piece.. thankfully it was on special. And it was very yummy.
In my rush to get the rubbish and recycling done I missed the bag in the sewing room so I have alot of cottons and trimmings from the over locker to vacc up.. what a mess lol

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) I think you will have a few of those days, popeye, until things begin to sink in and settle down. Just go with the flow :)

It was one of those days yesterday where we were busy but at the end of it we wondered what we had achieved lol. This morning I'm going to hire the Rug Doctor and clean the carpet, it's loooonnggg overdue. We're meant to have three lovely days coming up so I can have windows and doors open.

We're having another big power cut this Sunday, so fingers crossed it's a fine day. We have them about two or three times a year.

Almost finished another block for the blanket, it doesn't seem like I'm making any dents in my wool stash but I must be when I see what I've knitted. Probably doesn't help that I've got the wool from Dad's throw now.

Better get moving, I want to hire the Rug Doctor early so the carpet can start drying early.

Happy crafting :)

Morning Everyone

Glad you were just Busy Kiwimade I had wondered if there had been a health scare with someone.

Yesterday turned out to be a dreadful day, My Dam broke and I was a stupid bawling mess. But I came through it and am better this morning.. Mind you Im seeing my dr this morning so that might be a gentle rough.
MrP has started being rude and nasty to the social worker etc so the Mental Health team are going in this morning. Its going to be nasty.. Im not ringing MrP today after the way he was having a go at me yesterday he gets to wait for If I ring him. but Ill hear what happens from the Social worker later.

Im going to pop into the oppies , after my appointment.. Its as nice to see the Ladies as it is having a wander through all the goodies.

Gosh isnt India in an absolute mess.. Yet they still gather for their huge religious gatherings etc. Its crazy.

Enjoy your crafting ladies.

Have a bad day

Good Morning Ladies, Very cool here today. 15c Had a service to go to yesterday. A young 13 year who has been wheelchair most of his life. Waiting for a guy to come and take the lining off the walls. I'm over it. Ok, how many times have we heard that here. LOL.
I had a look at the op shops in Taradale why I was out. Picked up a lovely dark blue wrap. It's like a shawl. Be handy when I'm sitting around read, knitting etc or take it out with me in the evenings. We are lucky to have 6 stores in the main street.
Ok, hope your appointment goes well for you today Popeye. Enjoy looking around shops, including the op stores. Yes, you can get some good buys.
Have used the rug doctor when we have moved out of a place. The only carpet I have is in three b/rooms and the office. The lounge/dining area has two large rugs and a runner up the passage. Hope you can get the carpets dry Kiwimade.
Will it time to get warm. I started this message this morning and have had 3 lots visitors so far today. I'm off now to catch up on a couple of jobs. Hoping to do some knitting later in the day.
Catch up with you another day.
Enjoy your a/noon ladies.

morning ladies :) Phew, the carpet is cleaned and mostly dry. There are a few damp areas in the spare bedrooms but that's OK as I'll leave windows and doors open again today. Omg, the water from the carpet was disgusting. Usually we clean the carpet twice a year but it hasn't been done for around 18 months. Never ever again will I leave it that long. And to think our grandkids were playing on it.

I would imagine MrP's mind is whirling around, popeye and he's thinking all sorts of negative things. That's no excuse for his nastiness though and hopefully the Mental Health team can help him. It's a good idea not to phone when you know you are going to be verbally abused. Perhaps remind him when you see him next. You also need to look after yourself so good to hear you were visiting your doctor yesterday.

How sad for the family of the young boy, sunflowers. An older person you can understand passing away but a child just never seems right.

The spiders seem to have moved into the loo lol. So I'm going to be evicting them from there and giving the laundry a once over today. My sister keeps reminding me it's not spring lol. But it feels really good to have these jobs done and I need to be doing physical stuff.

I'll pick the knitting needles up later this afternoon. We can put the coffee table back in the lounge now the carpet is dry. I really missed it last evening for all my knitting/sewing bits and pieces.

Time to get cracking and put the washing on.

Happy crafting.

Morning everyone

Lol just noticed I said bad not Fab yesterday lol

The afternoon turned to custard, but Im ok today. My appointment with the Dr went well no tears..
This woman that talks at me, not too me and wont listen to anything I say is the Needs assessor. Once she had totally upset me again I asked her to get the Social worker to call me.
MrP has accepted going into the home was her message. I spoke to MrP briefly on her phone while she was in the room.. he seemed concerned that I was bawling..
I rang back later to see what gear he needed today and he was generally ok apart from telling me that the social worker and I were "Premature" in sending him to a home. I knew it wouldn't last long. But I didn't argue back, I wanted to say tho, should you just go there when you are stuck in a wheelchair?
Im going to see the home this morning and then taking stuff up to him. but I wont be staying the hours like I did last week.

I got an awesome "buy" yesterday I got 2 lots of heavish curtains from the freebie bin out the front of the Oppy free. One is like a dark mushroom charcoal colour with texture and the others are tan stripes on one side and blue on the back.. Im going to make cushions out of them and on sell them. Too much good fabric to be wasted. The darker ones are lined too so I will work out how I can get the most out of it all.
Im looking forward to doing it and making use of something that has plenty of use left in them.

Kiwimade I shudder to think how dirty the floors are here..

Ohh Sunflowers its so sad when young ones dies.. It does feel worse than if it is someone who has already lived a long life.

Something nice happened at the med-lab yesterday. I was doing my bloods with the head lady who retired but was filling in during school holidays.. The other new lady popped her head in and said to me "Your Not lifting heavy things for the in-organic collection are you, Im worried about you.." Ive met her maybe 3 times, and she had seen my post on FB about the collection lol.. I thought that was soo nice of her.

Have a Fab day everyone

morning ladies :) haha popeye, I noticed you had typed 'bad' lol. Knew what you meant though.

My sister is coming this afternoon, the camper van she bought has some mechanical issues and she is taking it to our mechanic. Before she gets here I'll do a quick blat around with housework. Not that it matters and there isn't much to do but it sets us up for the weekend. At least I won't need to vacum.

Yesterday I evicted the spiders in the loo, laundry and entrance. So everything is looking pretty good. It might be my imagination but the house seems brighter :)

I finished another block of squares last evening and started another. Every ball I knit is one less in my stash.

Coffee finished (that went down quickly lol) so time to get moving.

happy crafting :)

Crisp morning here but will be another sunny day.
Had to do some unpulling last night. 2 fronts of cross over baby cardi. Couldn't figure what I had done wrong but armholes too short didn't notice until I was sewing them togeher. Turns out not me but a pattern error which said dec ever alt instead of every 4th row.
Gym, vacuuming and food hunting this morning have plans to hit the sewing cave this afternoon

Morning everyone

Lol Kiwimade at the Evictions, but it just has to be done. lol

Ohh Mica I hate undoing. I used to just hand it to Mum lol.. I have to do it stitch by stitch, I dont have the confidence to pull things undone and then pick up the stitches.

I went and looked at the rest home yesterday, even tho there are no beds. Its very nice, quite "posh" really lol Then I carried on up to see MrP.
Put it this way, Simply it was a waste of time, money and energy. when I told him and the social worker there wasn't a room there he started getting grumpy. And the more places that the social worker called without success he got worse. taking it out on me. He started to undo his Jammies and I asked what he was doing, he said coming home with you.. I said no your Not. You haven't listened to me I cant look after you. So he hit the roof, told me to get my stuff and leave...... So I DID. No tears no Anger I just walked out.
The social worker rang later and said he had calmed down, and I said well to be honest I didnt care. I wont be treated like that anymore. She understood.
It was Quite liberating lol.

Before I left yesterday I hung the drapes I got on the clothes airer and the only thing wrong with the full length ones is a faded strip down the edge, so that's no biggie at all I was expecting it.

Today Im very creaky so Im going to sit and paint..

Have a FAB day everyone hahahaha

Good Morning Ladies. Very slow this morning.Had my flu immunisation yesterday morning and went shopping. New slippers, I buy ones that I can go outside with them on. Did a couple of op shops and can home with new lovely fabrics. All up over 10 meters all up cost $12. Been very slow off the block this morning. The sun out and warm outside.
Sat and had my coffee in sun. Planing in my mind what I want to do with my gardens
Today is going to be slow. Have put my food etc..order in and it be dropped of late afternoon. It saves me time and walking around the s/market

Popeye, I am so pleased you did the right thing yesterday and walked away. from Mr P. You doing so well. Keep having some me time. Go for a walk around the op shops and other shops. Visit friends. If there any parks around you, take time to look around gardens and people watch.
How is your painting going? Have not started my little one yet.

Pleased to hear you got your carpets dry yesterday. kiwimade It feels great when you do something like that. You have been busy around your gardens. Good to hear you have your knitting needles out now it cooler.

I'm off to look at some Breakfast Bar plans next week. Not sure what I want yet. So going looking. Know my way around them as I know them when we had the business. Still get calls asking if I'm ok and point them where to get things that we once stocked.
Had my coffee, it time to move.
Have a great day ladies and take care.

I'm of next week to look at some breakfast bars

Thanks Sunflowers

The social worker rang twice this morning, they were going to ring some more places. Im afraid I showed zero interest.
She rang back later to say they have found a place, Up in Papatoetoe, which is where Middlemore is. He will be going there on Monday until he comes back here on May 14th. I also showed little interest.. For today I simply dont care.
She asked did I want to talk to him, I said no, and that I Might but that's not a guarantee that I would ring him tomorrow.

Im looking after Me today.

I haven't managed to get any painting done, been pottering around.. But the good thing is that its always there to do.

Ohh Sunflowers that will be an exciting thing to plan for. Our breakfast bar is a very dark charcoal. I wouldn't have chose it, but its actually works well and looks nice. We dont have stools by it, I have a small drawers type thing for extra storage and the crate's with flour and and recycle bin both sit on top.

Morning everyone

Yep up early cos I want to go to a garage sale this morning and then Im on a mission to find proper rubber scrapers.. I got my last ones in mitre10 in Pukekohe so Im hoping they still have them. And Im going to a garage sale too.
Spoke to MrP last night.. He wasn't grumpy or anything. So either he has forgotten what happened on Thursday or he has seen the light. I mentioned my mission for today and he said Make a day of it... Im glad I wasn't drinking at the time lol
He is going to a home for respite and returning to the home here on May 14th.
There was a post in one of the FB wooly groups last night about a chevron knitted blanket. With the one row of instructions, so Ive saved it and I might have a tutu later or tomorrow.. Id like to learn how to crochet one too but knitting will be fine for now..
Im thinking I wonder what it would be like if you made several strips and sewed them together so they were alternating different way... An Idea is brewing lol

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) The fog is clearing and it's going to be a lovely day today.
I'm going to be blatting around getting organised for tomorrow's big power cut. They are working on one of the sub stations and need a day so the power will be off from 7.30am - 6.00pm. Hopefully it will be a warm, fine day.

I'm not surprised you weren't interested in MrP, popeye. There has been a lot to process over the last few months and you can only take so much. i hope they will still be looking for a resthome for MrP when he comes home and you have a lot more support. The worrying thing is he will think he's home for keeps. He has to understand it is only temporary.

The fogs gone already :D :D Looks like I'll be mowing the lawn again shortly. Crazy really as usually this time of the year I'm mowing fortnightly. I don't care if the grass is wet when I mow.

arrgg mica, how frustrating to find an error in your pattern, especially when it came to sewing up. Sometimes they publish corrections but unless you know there is an error and to look it up, it's pretty much a done deal by they time you have finished knitting.

Good luck with the breakfast bar shopping, sunflowers. There are lotsssss of choices out there :)

Better get cracking, have a few things to get done before I head outside.

Happy crafting :)

He is going into a rest home here that does Hospital Level care.

Its 3kms away, so it will be easy enough to visit. I forgot to ask if I could take Missy up to see him. I dont want him at home. at least not until he is enjoying being in the rest home, so there wont be any arguments about him wanting to stay with me

Good Afternoon everyone. Just spend an hour or so doing a food shop online and it is dropped off later today. Send the order and got a phone call to say my card number was incorrect. Had to ring the bank to sort it out. Countdown was very good. I typed 3, not 2. Well, be delivered just after 5 tonight. It free at present to have it dropped off.

Had my first fire last night and once I finished my jobs, I'm going to have another fire. The Sun is out, but no heat. Temp has dropped. Going to cut out some bag patterns as I have been given a large bag of fabric offcuts
from my friend's curtain store. She has some lovely fabrics that just came in
Did a visit to a couple of kitchens builders who we know when we had our business. Both showed me what they think would be ok in the kitchen area. Going to still look around first.
Popeye just takes your time and enjoy it. As I said don't shut yourself off from the world. I sure they will get a bed for Mr P not to far away. You doing well, Just remember enjoy your days, you are your own boss now.

It's a pain when you have to undo your knitting. You'll get there. So what are you planning to do Sunday. Hope it is a warm sunny day that you may get to the beach. There is alot of places you can go out to for the day. Kiwimade just enjoy it.!
Hope everyone well and enjoying the day.
Time for me to move and do a tidy up.

Ive had a Glorious day
Lots of bargains at the Garage sale, It was Huge spread over 5-6 rooms at the church. Best buy was a Sole Mio dvd for 50 cents lol, then went to Sy johns and Salvation Army opp shops. Then down to Spotlight and it was good to just wander and take my time. It was Packed the day my friend and I went..
The bonus was I got the exact right size frame for Missys Glamour Shot diamond painting down from $27 to $16-80. and an iron on tape and indelable pen for marking MrPs clothes.
Then to Mitre10 and Briscoes and neither had the rubber scraper. Then I went to KFC for lunch cos I wanted some potato and gravy to have with the second night of steak.
Then I went to the Warehouse, no rubber scraper but I got a toy for MIssy.. its a mouse that swings around the circle it is partially hidden in. So they can chase it. She loves it.
Went to Pak n Save and got me one of those long hot water bottles, thats my birthday present from MrP lol... I always buy my own..
Stopped at NW on the way home and I am bushed. Topped up pain meds and Ill sit and do my card games.

It was very nice to take my time, not push a wheelchair around and not be even more worn out at the end..

I left two shops off my day, will do those another day cos I knew I was running out of energy lol..

Spotlight has those caron Cake yarns on special.. I admit I looked at those but not any of the other yarn lol

morning ladies :) The power is due to go off in half an hour so I've got the washing machine finishing. I'll go round and turn off the electrical appliances at the wall 'just in case' there is a power surge when it comes back on again. We have new RCDs fitted but MrK is fussy in that department. We'll find things to do and will probably go out for the day.

I found one of those silicone scrapers with a lovely long wooden handle at the supermarket of all places, popeye. It's a beauty and the silicone blade isn't floppy so holds it's shape when scraping. I saw some at Mitre 10 not long ago. Maybe it's one of those things caught up in the backlog at the docks.

Time to get moving, I need to clean my teeth etc before the water is turned off with the power. Better refill the kettle too and get the camp cooker out.

Happy crafting :)

Also have some fabric to make DD some PJs to accommodate the preggy tum.
Time to get going and prep dinner to pop in slow cooker

Morning everyone
A chilly start to the day. But it looks like it will be a lovely day.

Ive stripped the bed so I can add another blanket lol. the two huge blankets I like on my bed are 43 years old next month. They were a wedding present for Mum and Jimmy. I think they are King size cos they have always been huge on any bed we have had. lol We have some of MrP's Mothers wool blankets. Very lucky,
Actually talking about wool blankets they had some in St Johns oppy yesterday, they wanted $30 each which yes is a good price for wool, but probably out of the range that poorer families could afford.

Im going to have a general tidy up today and list a few things on here.

I also need to ring the resthome and ask if they have a "favourite" place for the names on clothing.. Just to make their job easier if they can look in the "usual" place.

I got a couple of oven gloves yesterday. I think its the second set Ive brought in all my time with MrP lol.
I made some ovens clothes within a week of moving in with him. Cos he had put his worn once woolen jumper in his hoover twin tub to spin some water out, but unfortunately he forgot to turn it off before he came down to his sisters for the weekend.
It was still spinning when we got home. so it went into the oven clothes lol.. I never let him forget that lol.33 years ago Next month lol

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) We spent yesterday in Rotorua with MrK's sisters, we need to make the most of having his youngest sister.

Another stunning day here today with a frost to mix things up a bit. I love this time of the year.

This morning I have to empty the fridge freezer as the milk I put in there to freeze spilt a bit as the lid leaked and the bird puddings also made a bit of a mess as I put the tray into the basket. A good opportunity to see what's exactly in there too.

Other than that, I'm going to muck about around home today. The aggies I couldn't dig out aren't dying so I'll spray them again. They won't get the better of me lol.

I knitted a bit more last evening but got too engrossed in Line of Duty lol. We've been following this series on Netflix since it first arrived there and loved it so was surprised to see TV1 having it. They should have had it from Series 1 as the twists and turns can be confusing to new viewers I think.

happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Chilly but no frost , cant have been far off tho.

Ohh noo Kiwimade re the milk, did you forget to take a wee bit out before you popped it into the freezer?
As cold as it is I need to defrost our freezers soon too.. Thank goodness I can empty them, wheel them to the garage door and hose the suckers out.

Today ill be making a couple more phone calls... need to find out where MrP is going, cos Ill have to take him some clothes up. And I need to know where the home here likes to have the names on his clothes. Would make it easier for them if they are in the same place as everyone else's.

OMG Im loving my long hot water bottle, its 65 x 10 cm's and goes right across my back and hips. Best thing I have brought in ages.. Since it still had some warmth I put it in my bed and I slept really well.

Right I better get some things done before it gets to lunch time lol.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) No, I didn't forget to take some of the milk out, popeye. The lid didn't seal properly even though I had it firmly closed. I find freezing the milk saves a trip into town and it doesn't take long to defrost. I freeze butter to for the same reason.

It's a cloudy day today, bleak compared to yesterday. Hopefully we have a fine day in a couple of weeks time as we're organising a family get together to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. With MrK's sister so ill, we all want to make the most of happy occasions. It will be a pot luck lunch as she is becoming quite tired by the afternoon.

The bin man has been so this morning I'll refill the garden waste one with more aggies from the pile. I'm guesstimating I'll need a couple more weeks of full bins to get rid of the pile.

I might do some knitting this afternoon, although I've had an idea for embroidering a tray cloth. I just need to let it mull over in the background for a while.

Your hot water bottle sounds great, popeye. Much more practical than those small squarish ones.

Happy crafting :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIWIMADE..!!!

Good morning everyone.

It looks like it will be another stunning autumn Day. We have a window by the front door that the sun streams in first thing in the mornings.

I did something I never thought I would ever do yesterday.. ironing parts of socks, putting name labels on MrPs clothes lol.. I have 3 well packed bags of clothes for him, I dont know how often they wash in rest homes so I dont know how much to do.
Oddly its going to feel weird not doing his washing etc.

I spoke to him yesterday and he sounded very happy where he was, saying the staff were nice and they have a list of different activities to keep everyone busy . I hope he likes it down here as much. So fingers crossed. He might end up too busy to see me lol.

I've got to go through my material and find something soft enough for more hankies.. Wiping your nose on a name label wouldn't be much fun, and he doesn't like tissues.lol

Have an awesome day everyone

Yes happy birthday Kiwimade.
Another sunny day here.
We spent the day out yesterday and somehow ended up at For Fabric Sake in Levin Ha! They are located in old Levanas factory shop and have some very nice fabrics including merino 200weight $12 dollars cheaper than The Fabric Store and looks identical . I have samples of all fabric store colours.
So of course some followed me home. Orange DGS current favourite colour and navy for DD cardi and a grape for me. Will get some baby long sleeved onesie from the scraps. Came home and he power pole had not been replace despite the blokesin hi viz gear pole and cherry pickers all present when we left. They are coming on Friday now so will have to sort out another outing.
Nearly finished knitting one of Carron cakes at this rate I will have a baby blanket by the weekend.
Had to laugh with the vision of you ironing socks Popeye reminded me of my MIL who ironed everything wrecked my BIL lycra togs with iron

Morning ladies :) Thank you for the birthday wishes and HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPEYE! I hope you have a wonderful day today.

What a shame, mica, you need another days outing lol :p. That fabric shop sounds fabulous, I don't think we have anything similar around here. Do you have anyone in mind for the baby blanket?

Popeye, I had to name dad's clothing when he went into respite care. I think all he did was put his laundry into a basket and the staff took it for washing and bought it back all ironed and good to wear again. He just had to ask for it to be done.

It looks like our daughter and grandkids are coming for our wedding anniversary lunch so today I'll strip the spare beds and put winter sheets on. The mattress protectors can be flipped to 'winter' mode too. They have wool on one side and cotton on the other.

I have a small garden along the side of the garage that needs weeding so I'll get that done today. I'm encouraging knee-high dahlias to grow along there. They have lovely bronze coloured leaves and creamy coloured flowers so should look pretty when in flower.

Still knitting this blanket and am halfway through another 'block'. It's taking a while but at least my hands are busy and my stash is slowly decreasing.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Thank you Kiwimade... Im having a visitor today lol The St Johns lady is coming to check the alarm and sort it out just for me. lol

I got a good hug yesterday from MrP.. Thats the only time he stood tho. But he said they do make him walk to the dining room, and if he gets tired they end up pushing him on it...
His room is basic but well thought out.. And they have put his clothes into drawers etc. Makes it homeley. he likes the people there too and wow the meals are awesome and huge. MrP like me hates wasting food so he asked them to cut his down a bit. Made on sight too so its lovely and fresh.
He did say I wont be staying long in the other one eh, I just changed the subject.
He has met other guys there so thats cool.

I had to nip out and get him some shower gel and shampoo, we dont bother when we go to hospital cos the soap in the bathrooms are good and they make your hair soo soft.

Im going to start cutting out some cushion covers later. This sitting doing nothing is naughty when I have soo much stuff I could be doing..

Have an awesome day everyone

morning ladies :) Good to hear MrP is settling in and nice he will have other guys to chat with.

I have some leaves to rake this morning and will pull a few weeds while I'm out there. If I can keep on top of the weeds in the winter it makes spring/summer a lot easier.

The Furry One was busy in the wee hours chasing another possum. It didn't stay long lol. He defends 'his' property with gusto <3

Yesterday I stripped the spare beds and put the winter sheets on so they are ready for our daughter and her family. Our son is coming to our wedding anniversary lunch as well so it will be a good catch up for them.

Might do a bit more knitting this afternoon, I'm about half way through this block.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
A nice not too cool one lol.

Was soo neat talking to MrP last night we were laughing and carrying on. He has a very infectious laugh. You dont hear it often tho.

The St Johns lady arrived to update the alarm, id just been talking to my twin and he had brought up some memories. One being about when dad died and I hadn.t got up to see him off to work, on the day he died at work . And the St Johns lady asked if I was ok so I explained it to her.
The same thing happened to her. She was 18 and had been trying to do something on her computer and her Dad tried to show her how to do it, but then took over and was trying to do the job for her... her dad was 56.

And then we discovered we had the same Middle name. A name I've always hated and thought it was dumb, she hasn't minded it lol.so after sharing tissues she gave me a hug and when she got a form out of her car she came back with a calendar pen and note pad for me.

Then I got a hug from our lawn mowing people too.

I undid the seams and took the tape off one curtain. There is of course fading on the back so Ill be using the tan side to make the cushions. Which is just as nice as the back.

Have to go do bloods again drop off some book and get milk and bananas,, and probably other stuff "Not" on the list lol.

Have a fab day everyone.

morning ladies :) It looks like we are in for another gorgeous day today. Will make the most of it as we are expecting rain over the weekend. The rain will be very welcome as omg the ground is dry where I haven't been able to mulch.

Yesterday I weeded the whole garden, was amazing how few weeds there were thanks to the mulch. The spring bulbs are up which always makes me smile.

I scored a bargain yesterday. Was in Farmers looking for a shirt or blouse for me and found a linen shirt down from $80 to $35.00. When I showed my Club Card, it was reduced even further to just under $25.00. I can wear it buttoned up or open over another lighter top and can be dressed up or down. My kind of clothing.

Housework is on the agenda today and seeing as our household waste wheelie bin is hardly full, more aggies can go into it. I'll do a bit more knitting later on.

Happy crafting :)
