I reckon you can never have too much wool either

Morning everyone

Yep all the tools come in handy to help people dont they. trouble is once again they dont tell you what they have unless you ask sometimes.

Been a long Morning, MrP was in one of his moods again at 4am.. But soon settled down once the shower lady was here. She is coming back to clean and Im going to ask if she can do it all the time, the new one has mucked up the days once again and we cant stand tardyness.

I might get some cotton out later and see if I can darn the vest , if it looks bad he can wear it at home anyway lol.

I hope everyone is well .. Have a fab day all

morning ladies :) It makes sense, popeye, to have the one lady shower MrP and do the housekeeping. Saves time and petrol too-ing and fro-ing.

Yesterday I moved a cubic square meter of mulch and I'm going to need another one. My shoulders, back and thighs know I've been working lol. It's a good feeling though. It was dumped outside our gates so I had to tie the Furry One up while the gate was left open. And I must admit I got pretty peeved with MrK who said he would help me but managed to find something else to do. Thinking it was funny coming to help as I'm closing the gates to finish up and saying 'I was just coming to help you' went down like a ton of lead.

The Fluffy One is coming today for another week of hijinks with the Furry One. And I need more medication for the Furry One so must phone our vet this morning.

I finished the first block of nine squares last night and I think knitting this blanket in blocks is the way to go. By the time I was finishing the ninth square, my wrists were getting sore. I'm not that 'match fit' for knitting lol.

Washing machine has finished and so is my coffee so time to move. Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
Yeah the shower lady that did the cleaning yesterday did an Awesome Job yesterday. Shes going to let this new one try once and if we dont like her we will ask for our original.
As it stands the new one already had a black mark against her name for mucking around for over two weeks already. And mucking time around is a pet peeve with MrP.
The day seemed to run away with me yesterday making calls and having people in the house. I didn't realize how I am very used to it just being the two of us.
Ohh Kiwimade I would have been spitting tacks at that MrP has done the same in the past, but if he needs help he expects it immediately.

MrP has finally admitted he doesnt feel safe in his crocks so we will go to the warehouse and look at some sandles. I looked online and they have some that do up with velcro so he should be able to do them up tight enough... Ewwww tho he wants to wear them with socks lol... Real Old man style lol hahaha..

I better rattle my daggs I have to go get some more blueys for the bed between 10-11.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies:) The Fluffy One is well settled in, this is her second home. I even suspect she would live her permanently if she could. The Furry One has a vet visit today as his epilepsy prescription has run out and the vet needs to see him before she can write another. Just like people lol. A least his 'script lasts for six month though. So another bill to pay.

It looks like we're in for a bit of rain today, we can certainly use it. I might have another go at the agapanthus and while we're in town with the Furry One, duck into Mitre10 for some roundup. I saw the roundup people have a new one out that only kills weeds, not lawn. That may be more useful for us.

I'll pick the needles up this afternoon if there is time, I don't have a large wool/yarn stash so it is slowly decreasing.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
We had a little rain yesterday, but not for long.

We managed to get MrP a pair of sandle's that have three straps and they are all Velcro so he doesn't have to push his feet in. Just sit them on and I can do them up to keep them on. Better than the ones we were going to look at. Got a Mattress protector too, which I didn't realise they have.
Needless to say I have a grumpy sore one this morning.. He is being showered as we speak and the nurse will do his legs again today.

I have a heap of washing to get through. Its like I have the washing load of a couple of bed wetting kids.. But Ill get there. And thank goodness for automatic washing machines and dishwashers lol.

10 years since Mum died today. No sadness , more a celebration that I got through it and survived lol.

Might skip my games today and do a bit of painting, make it a more productive down time lol.

Have a a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) I read the sad news Prince Philip has passed away, 99 years old is a damed good age.

I remember those bed wetting days, popeye. I dreaded it in the winter when it was hard to get everything dry. Am glad you were able to find some sandals for MrP, it will make life easier and safer for him.

It's a blustery, wet day today, perfect for crafting of some sort. And I won't feel guilty about it either. The last things on my to-do list are things I can't really do until the Fluffy One has gone home or until MrK has repaired my washing line. The plastic coated wires have stretched and collapsed so I only have a few to hang clothes on and it won't take the weight of a wet bed coverlet. So the coverlet will have to wait a day or two.

The Furry One got a clean bill of health yesterday so we're happy. The vet couldn't believe he still hunted and had no stiff joints at his age. He has gained a wee bit of weight so I'll have to retrain MrK about giving him extra treats lol. A woman came into the vet clinic with her cat on a lead. The Furry One was verrrryyy interested in the cat so we sat well away from her and shortened his lead.

Time to move and get a few things done. Am hoping I can get washing dry outside in between the raindrops.

Happy crafting :)

Good morning - chilly and grey today great day for crochet
Very sad to read about the passing of Prince Philip - he has been a wonderful rock for the Queen to lean on over many many years
Popeye I bought some waterproof sheets from KMart - they are about the size of a cot blanket - I think they were about $12 - much easier than washing sheets everyday - take about 10 mins to dry in the dryer so I only needed a couple

Morning Just..
Wet and windy here but I had a dry spell long enough to plant the leeks.. 30 leeks seedlings for $3 was good buying thats got sure.

Yeah I have the wet sheet airing out since it said so on the packaging, neither of us can smell anything anyway. So will put it on tomorrow when his shower lady is here.
Glad the furry one is doing well Kiwimade..

Thats a good price Gerry re the sheets. This one is a fitted one and we were lucky it was the only double one they had. but that had all sizes.

We have done the apples, and Ive done the washing etc... this afternoon we are going to the garage to make another planter box. MrP wants to make one and theres only one cut to make which I will do.

He has been good for the last 24 hours, even thanking me for all that I do, which doesnt happen very often. We have a week of appointments this coming week,.

Might do some painting once we have finished building the box. We are thinking of putting daffodills and Jonquills in.. but that mae change.

Have a fab day everyone

Popeye the sheets thingees from K mart are just an extra layer that goes over the top of the sheet where leakage is likely to occur rather than having to wash whole sheets especially with winter coming on
I am up to row 135 -and have 53 strands of wool in this row - I wish I could put a photo up on here can only put it on Facebook - it’s sort of lightening bolts that curve round a vortex in the middle which is shaped like a rugby ball - he is rugby crazy -

16960

morning ladies :) Another wet day here by the looks of it. We need the rain, so not complaining.

It was a quiet day yesterday as we couldn't get outside much. So I've knitted another square and finished another ball of wool from my stash. While I was having a cuppa yesterday I was scrolling FB on my phone and one of the memes I scrolled by had a screeching noise. The Furry One was on the back of the couch by my shoulder and the Fluffy One was at my feet. As soon as they heard it, I had two fierce little dogs leap on top of me glaring at the phone and ready to attack it. Omgg... I was so surprised they reacted that way. MrK said to me he knew they would defend me if anything happened. I gave them both a cuddle lol and put my phone away :P. It took a while for them to settle though.

Ironing to do today and if the weather clears, I'll have another go at the agapanthus. At least I've de-headed them so the seeds can't spread but agapanthus are sneaky and can propagate as well.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Wow Gerry 53 colours.. That is a Mission

Good to know the furry and fluffy ones will protect you Kiwimade.. Our Millie cat that head butted me awake when my heart was running at full speed was special and I think Missy would do the same. her "Thing" lately is patting me on my face while Im asleep.

We got the planter box done.. She's rough and ready.. It wasn't an enjoyable time, but its done and he is pleased he was able to make something for us. Woodwork is not my thing.

Today I will be nipping up for some more granny smith apples and the plan is to do those and catch up on some recorded TV.

Im going to look at my "few" hahahaha cook books and see if I can find a nice recipe for Date scones.. One that the dates are soft. Im thinking they might need soaking. MrP loves date scones as I do.

Have a fab day everyone

Popeye - it’s the most frustrating thing I have ever made - the blanket is 4 colours black pearl grey and two shades of darker grey - but the lightening strike stripes are 1 black stitch then 2 grey stitches etc etc - so I am constantly changing threads - then going back the stripes widen or lessen so it looks like a lightening strike not just a stripe - so hard to explain .Its looking amazing but it’s ridiculous! Thank goodness I am here on my own if somebody talked to me !

Hi Ladies Overcast this afternoon. Raked up leaves and now have a bales full of leaves and other garden bites I cut or pulled out this afternoon. It be either knitting or folding and ironing tonight. I will fold up first and just maybe not so much to iron.Hoping so !!!
Popeye cut the dates up and soak in milk or warm water. Use water or milk to mix the scone mixture. Just make sure you do it first thing so they have time to soften.
Moved 8 loads of fresh compose and fresh soil. Let if settle down and plant my Spring Bulbs. That be one job down, now dead head all flowers heads. The second around of that job. That be the front gardens done.Move on out the back.
It be a good week of work out there. the herbs I replaces are doing well in the pots. Will get the Silk Tree cut down and put up a shade cloth. Thinking about it. Have not replaced my fire box. I still have a heap of wood left from last winter ,I'll get half a cord that see me out this winter.
Glad to hear you just about finished your gardens for winter Kiwimade. Hope you have some craft work plans for the cold windy wet weather down there in the Waikato. I think I'll wait for Spring now to come up to Morrinsville. Depends on the weather and what we are in for this winter.
Gerry we must meet up at the shops for coffee. We both I think can walk to the shops. I walk up a couple of times a week if I have no need to go into town or T/dale. Going to try and go across to see what wool in after there sale. Going from what everyone put up it was a very good sale was so good I did not go near their wool sale.
Hope everyone has a great crafty week.

morning ladies :) Gerry, you are a braver person than me using all those colours. I would be mixing up the different shades and getting so frustrated with the tangling. I bought some plastic bobbins to use when I knitted a hoodie for our granddaughter but that was only six or seven colours. Never again!

Wow, sunflowers, you are on a roll with your garden. It takes a bit of time doesn't it, but well worth it when summer comes round. The extra work from the flooding wouldn't help at all. I have one fenceline left to mulch and am waiting for it to be delivered. MrK fixed the handle of an old steak knife I use on the agapanthus, it works really well slicing through them all.

I'm picking away at the 'blocks' for this blanket. It's a no brainer really, just plain knitting. But I am working my way through my stash.

A wet day today I think so another 'indoors' day. Yesterday it fined up enough for me to mow the lawn and get washing dry.

happy crafting :)

Morning everyone.

Very busy ladies we have in this group. Keep it up everyone.

We got the apples done yesterday and then the rest of the day hit the Fan. MrP fell, refused to go to hospital, had a long wait for the ambos. And then they were here an hour at least. We got him up, cos he wanted to go to the toilet and he fell backwards in there back onto the toilet, but then coming back out into the lounge he fell again.
Still was refusing to go so I rang our friend who I knew would be able to convince him to go.. The Big Guns lol.. So needless to say he went back to hospital.
After trying to hold him up or pick him up many times over the week my Bones are extremely sore so Im not planning on doing anything housework wise today.. Well maybe one load of washing and once I have called him and cancelled the week of appointments I will be painting or on here.

Have a fab day everyone

Popeye - you gave it a good shot - my husband was only 60kg towards the end and I know what a struggle it is - thinking of you - have a quiet day doing your craftee things

Morning ladies, Popeye you have done your best and more for MrP. Time for you to have a day or more to do what you would like to do.I have very good idea what happen.
Overcast today,so will head outside for an hour or so. Going out this afternoon with a friend for coffee and walk along the beach path while its not to hot.
Yes! kiwimade,a lot of hours have gone into the gardens and other parts of the section. I'll get there.
Time to move ladies had my coffee and need to hang out the washing and back into the gardens/section.
Have a great day and enjoy your handcrafting.

Thank you everyone.

He has lost 37 kilos now and still at 94 kilos.. So still a big man.

I spoke to the Medical assist ward that he is in and his message for me is that he Now has a catheter.. he and I are soo relived.
They were waiting for a bed on the ward and I will "Find" him later.

Ive restored the coffee table, did a little washing, watered the garden and just had my fave toasted Vogel's with real butter and vegemite for lunch. Its overcast but no sign of rain as yet

Games After Ive caught up on FB then I might paint..

popeye333 - 2021-04-12 12:09:00
16969

morning ladies :) mmmmm yummmmm twice toasted vogels is one of my favs too. Hot with butter and apricot jam as well lol. I hope things are being sorted for MrP, popeye. That's an awful lot of weight to loose but as you say, he's still a big man.

It was a sticky, humid night last night made hotter by the Furry One insisting he had to sleep on the bed too. The window was open and I think he liked the breeze. The Fluffy One has been panting like crazy as she really feels the heat. I suspect the house insulation we had last July is going to work well over winter judging by how hot the house was even with windows open. MrK checked the thermometer in the dining room and it was 25 degrees.

I don't think I will be doing much knitting today thanks to the heat. So I'll find something else to do instead. MrK hopefully will mend the washing line for me today. Those plastic wires stretch and break off. I think I have one wire being held on by the grapevine lol so time to replace the lot.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone.

Yes Kiwimade, none of this 42 seconds toasted like the advert says. Its gotta be crunchy lol.

One of the best things of it only being me is being able to have a nice long shower, and not get called out for anything.

It was warm last night here too , I still have my fan on me in bed, it drops my temp so I snuggle in and have a better sleep. Missy generally hides behind me but sometimes the need for a snuggle in my arms means she has to put up with the fan.

I didnt paint yesterday I had a card fest lol. Totally enjoyed it.

This morning Im going to the oppies as they have 50% off.. Maybe some craft items could end up in my basket..

Have a fab day all

Good Morning Ladies, Overcast here at present,so not sure if to start giving my house a good clean or work on the section. Mower team have to drop by to drop a couple of bags for me and take 3 away. My lawn is covered in leaves. May get my Silk tree cut down. I like it in summer to site under it,but it hard work at this time of the year. Have not looked to see how hot its
going to be today.
Sorted out my clothes and have a bag to go to the op shop. Was given 4 hanks of 8 ply wool plus a couple of open bags of new wool. It's lovely soft wool. Friend is no longer able to knit. Will give her some fabric so she can do some sewing over winter. My weaving loom may get to see some light this winter.
Popeye, how it going? Have they set a date for a meeting or they waiting to see doctors etc. In the meantime you can eat what you like,do what you like. Take yourself out to beach and watch that sunset and enjoy your fish and chips. How that painting coming along? I have put my piece away to do on cold wet day that we have over winter.
Kiwimade you sure be busy in your garden with the help of two dogs. Good work on them now it cooler. Good hear you planning your craft projects for over winter
Just looked out the office window, see a lot of white clouds going over and blue sky behind, so we may be in for a warm sunny day.
Time to move the dishes are calling out to be washed.
Enjoy your day everyone!

16972

morning ladies :) We have a real pea souper of fog this morning, even the dogs are only sniffing at the door rather than going out lol. Maybe they think they'll get lost in it lol.

It's a 'sister' day today with two of MrK's sisters coming for lunch and my sister coming to take the Fluffy One home. Must admit, we will not miss the Fluffy One's yapping. I'm going to bake an apricot loaf (Edmonds date loaf recipe using apricots instead of dates) to have with coffee shortly. It's a shared lunch and everyone brings something homemade.

The last load of mulch will be arriving any day now and once that has been spread, that's the garden done and dusted for winter. Hopefully it arrives before the ground dries out so I can retain that rain in the soil. Silk trees are lovely, sunflowers, but they do make a mess in the autumn. Maybe it can be pruned back a bit instead of cutting out completely?

I did some knitting last evening and I have two more squares to finish the 'block'. I suspect there won't be much knitting today lol. Just lots of yakking and laughing.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
We just had a very heavy straight down shower.. wont need to water the garden today lol.
I have more washing to do today, what I thought was clean clothes MrP had gone through looking for something were dirty ones, so Ill get that sorted soon.
He hung up on me yesterday so Im in no rush to ring today. I dont reward bad behavior. I spoke to his nurse, dr and a social worker. The Physio people reckoned he was fine to be sent home, but he hadnt told them about all his falls or even obviously hadn't read his files from last month.

I have told him he either has to do some rehab before he comes home or he doesn't come home.

I did our two local oppies yesterday. I got 5 double sheets $2 each, a piece of fabric which I think might be hand painted but its really cool. A cone of purple carpet wool, and 3 balls of a Patons Smoothie wool.
Instead of making slippers with the carpet wool my sister in law suggested a mat, perhaps for beside a bed or even in the bathroom, which I think is a good idea as it should wear well.

Kiwimade I have to admit I love terriers and most little dogs but the breeds that yap continuously really annoy me lol. I wonder if the Furry one gets sick of the fluffy ones yapping lol.

Have an awesome day everyone

Just filling in time while waiting for the whanau to arrive, they are stuck in roadworks.

yep, popeye, the Furry One does get sick of the yapping, especially when he knows it's nothing to bark at. You can see it on his face lol. And he knows when MrK is about to say 'quiet!' to her as he walks up and sits beside MrK lol. Almost like, it's not me your growling at eh dad lol.

Good on you for sticking to your guns about MrP not coming home. I think he will eventually come to the same conclusion as you, popeye, that he needs more rehabilitation and help. Unfortunately, often our men aren't too quick at acknowledging that. It's that old school attitude I think, and one that needs to be changed.

Right-o, time to semi prepare lunch, if I put the kettle on I'm sure they will arrive lol.

kiwimade64 - 2021-04-14 11:41:00
16975

morning ladies :) And they arrived just as the kettle boiled, works every time lol.

Another foggy start to the day, there is definitely a winter chill in the air. I want to work on the agapanthus today, I'll pick away at them and slowly they will be gone. It's tough on my back but satisfying to see them go.

I finished the 'block' of knitting last evening and even darned in the ends. It's quite geometrical with the different stripes and blocks of colour.

Time to move, MrK is up and he must be cold as he's turned the heat pump on for the first time this winter.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

The Boiling Jug always brings people in lol

A definite chill in the air. I nearly got my Autumn cardy out last night for when I sit on my bed to read. Put my dressing gown on instead and I definitely need it this morning.

MrP isnt happy cos they are sending him to Pukekohe for rehab, so he needs to be careful or they will sanction him again for failing to take medical care of himself.... Im just taking one day at a time.. Things change so often. When I called him yesterday he asked why I hadnt rang the day before... im learning not to start an argument. he just didnt remember hanging up on me.
The social worker tried to ring last night and I missed the call so Im hoping she rings back this morning. I left a message.

Im going to shop locally this morning.. Need to do my bloods and Ill go to the library.. the last two books I just finished were awesome, So I will take my time in choosing more . And I'm going to look in the Non fiction at baking and craft books too for a change. I might go back and have another nosey at St Andrews while the sale is on... And then get a few groceries... buying for one is Wayyy cheaper than for two lol

The Wax eyes are back.. Yay.. I need to make a seed cake for them..

Ohh the white butterflys have obliterated the brassiccas... Im not going to bother replacing them since I seldom eat cabbage and dont eat the others.. No sense planting them if MrP isnt coming home... The leeks appear to be doing well.. I dont eat those either lol.. But I should be able to swap them in one of our local barter groups for something I do like .

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2021-04-15 08:31:00
16977

morning ladies :) Another foggy start to the day so I'll have to wait for a bit before I attack more agapanthus. I need to be seen by oncoming traffic. Slicing down to the tuber with an old steak knife seems to be doing the trick. The aggies I cut back and sliced a week or so back are starting to brown off so we will see what happens. All this rain and fog will be helping with that too.

We have given up growing brassicas, popeye. The white butterfly is relentless even with all the powders and covering them. And we grow the 'canonball' cabbage as it's the perfect size for two.

Housework today and by the time I'm finished the fog should have lifted so I can take the bin down to where I was working yesterday and tidy my mess up.

Maybe some knitting or sewing this afternoon.

Happy crafting :)

Lovely sunny day here. Those Aggie's sound like hard work KM.
I am half way knitting baby blanket this is the last one so I will have 4 done since Xmas. Then I can knit for GD due in August.
Got a request from DD for some preggy jeans and work trousers so will be fabric hunting at Moorelands today. If there is nothing at the outlet shop then will pop into Palmerston North shop in the weekend.
Popeye sounds like rehab is a good place for MrP.
Off to gym have to earn my coffee today

Morning everyone

A beautiful sunny day here, but there is a wind..

Wow Mica you have been busy on the blankets.. doing baby clothes will feel like knitting air with no weight on your lap.

Yeah Kiwimade Im not going to replace them. The leeks are doing well.. Never grown them before. MrP wanted them but I always thought they were something you picked in winter.

But it looks like he wont be coming home. he is refusing to go to rehab, is fighting with staff, and Ive had calls from two drs. They are bringing in the physc team again. he is his own worst enemy.
They rang me yesterday to try and calm him down and the abuse I got was disgusting, and not a way to try and get me to go and pick him up by any means.
So I wont be ringing him for a couple of days, but will have daily contact to see how he is going. He is blaming me and our GP again.

Its no wonder my head is everywhere lol. Playing my games is my craft at the mo. I think it helps to keep from concentrating on everything that is happening.

I went back to the oppy yesterday and got the most beautiful red and White checked duvet cover for $3-50. I was meant to go there I think cos I got that and a blue tupperware tumbler that I needed to complete a set.

The lady in our old house has offered me the passionfruit vine and some of the blackberry vines so I said yes, and thankyou but then all the stuff happened with MrP... I dont know if winz will let me stay here or if they will make me move into something cheaper... not that that makes any different rent wise. Smaller houses are costing more than what we pay here. And then there would be the added moving costs..

Have a fab day everyone and Kiwimade stay safe on that road.

Good Morning Ladies, Busy the next couple of days. Baking and quick tidy up and wash some floors today. If it stay fine I will have my helpers in after breakfast in the morning. They think they can tidy up the section in about 3 hours. A lot of clearing along fence lines. needs to be done. Just so thankful as they are giving up their time. Yes! I know I have still got some wonderful friends around that can help me. This is there doing, just got a call from them this week asking if this Sat be ok. Weather wise not sure, showing rain late Saturday a/noon.So little crafting this w/end. Needles may see some light over the w/end.
Popeye, They will work him at the rehab and he will have to do what they say. Just leave it for a day or so before going calling him. Enjoy your days and take care of yourself. How the sewing coming along?

What a job you have Kiwimade re moving these plants. Hope you are enjoying knitting and stitching in the afternoon.
Time to move washing waiting to be hang out.
Have a great day ladies.

Good Morning Everyone. It's overcast with dark clouds moving towards us from the south. Today I have a group of 5-7 coming to help me get my section/gardens cleaned up. Going to take before and after photos.
They having bar-que breakfast as I am doing some quick tidy up before they come. . Scones in the oven for morning tea. As I'm seating here looking out I don't think we will get much done. Knowing them they will still come over.So not sure how my day will go.
Hi Popeye,Hope you are well and relaxing. If they take Mr P to a rest home after rehab it be ok. You can still see him and take him out sometimes.

Will I hope everyone else has a great day. Time for me to move and hopefully the grey clouds move on out to sea,
.Have a great day everyone

morning ladies :) Another wet morning here but they say we will have sunshine this afternoon.

I found when Dad was here I needed those mindless card games too, popeye. I could just tune out. Hopefully he will be sorted quickly but if he's going into a rest home they will be waiting for a bed. I'm not sure about your home though, you may have to talk to the Super team at WINZ about that. Probably wouldn't hurt to talk to them anyway to find out where you stand financially. It's all about looking after you now as MrP will be fine where he is.

Yep, mica, those aggies are a real PITA. They are hard work but my sister-in-law suggested I use the old hedge shears to cut them and wow, what a difference that makes. I can slice through the tuber and have a 'whole' piece of the aggie not just a lot of loose leaves. Then I can slice down the middle of the tuber to let the weather in to rot it. The smaller ones can be dug out with a bit of effort and swearing. Ok, lots of swearing lol. Just as well the traffic drowns that bit out. If this doesn't work (and it looks like it is working) I'll give them a squirt of roundup. When they are dead, I can dig them out or let them rot down to nothing. It will take time but it will take time for the hydrangea cuttings to take root and be big enough to plant out anyway.

It looks like a knitting or sewing day. I need new vegie bags for the supermarket and might do them today. Was meant to sew them a while back but was distracted by other things that needed doing.

Good luck with the big cleanup, sunflowers. What a huge relief for you to have that done. Fingers and everything crossed those black clouds go anywhere but over your home.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

First thing, if any of you have cats it might pay to grab some extra Biscuits if you can. There is a country wide shortage apparently, I had noticed gaps on Thursday so went back yesterday for more. Thankfully feeding just me means I had the extra money to stock up. I have No Doubt at all that Missy would give me more than the cold shoulder if she couldn't have her fave bikkies. Thank goodness her expensive ones were on special lol.

Its cos of the Stuck ship in the Canal apparently

My games are saving my head. I play microsoft ones which has daily challenges. I Aim to be in the top 50 of the half a million people that play daily. Best Ive done was 14th, but currently sitting inn the 20-30s area. Sooo much faster than playing with real cards lol

Was talking to one of the Garage sale family we had here a few years ago.. We were a group of regular goers. He Hubby , a darling gentle man got Parkinson's, he just faded into a gentleness who accepted what ever was going on.. He was our Eldest War veteran. She said the Nasty ones are the worst to deal with and that Im doing a good job.. Doesnt feel like it at times. lol
Ive made myself a list of things I want to get done... I booked an inorganic collection yesterday. You can have a meter square picked up free when they do their runs. Ill be able to get rid of all the dead appliances etc and not have to pay for it.. trust me I can pack things down very well so I will get alot into that small area.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) I started to watch the Duke's funeral last night but gave up as I was nodding off. I'll finish watching the repeat this morning.

Yesterday I trimmed the lawn edges but didn't get the lawn mowed, so this morning I'll mow even though it's wet. It's like spring again with all this rain.

That's a good idea, popeye, to get rid of unwanted items while MrP can't be there to go through them. Omg, MrK is the worst at going through stuff and putting it back into the cupboards. I bury things in the middle or bottom of the bin. I can imagine MrP is similar.

Knitting or sewing this afternoon all going to plan. I might even do the ironing lol.

Happy crafting :)

Good Morning from Sunny Napier. My section is bare. The Silk Tree gone. They asked me 3 times do I want it gone and they got the same answer 3 times. Haven't loaded the pictures yet. A team of about 7 turned up. Chainsaws going, mower going. They cleanup after themselves as well. I made morning tea. Fresh sandwiches, scones and choc biscuits. Set it up in shed and left is out after morning tea so the could go in and out for a drink and have something to eat.
I looked out this morning and tears run down my face. It so bare after the silk gone.
Photos will go up in the next day or so.
Have a got day everyone.

Morning everyone
Yes Kiwimade its going to be a huge mission. while Im confident he isn't coming home, I wont risk anything lol I know that sounds odd, Ill just plan on paper and then be able to get it all done.

Ohh Sunflowers it will be something you will miss, but not the work of it.

I was thinking about my container gardening, I just dont think I will bother. The only things I can grow for myself are potatoes, lettuce and beans. Im not fussed on keeping the rhubarb, and humming and harring over the mandarin tree. I will give stuff away when I "I know for sure" lol.. and boy they will need muscle to get the containers.

I spoke to MrP yesterday. Id say he is having some new drugs. he was very calm and laid back, Even gentle in his speech. Didn't ask to come home. And didnt remember having the drip. It made for a pleasant phone call. he said he couldnt find his phone so I called the nurse back and asked if she could find it for him.. Oddly he would have normally been ballistic about it saying it had been stolen. Ive asked for the dr to ring me tomorrow.

I am having a day off today, apart from washing. I ticked 7 of 10 jobs off yesterday.
Ill paint yepp Im going to set that up, and watch the funeral.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) awwww sunflowers, it is upsetting when you have to make the hard decisions about the garden, especially when it comes to the well established trees. I'm sure you will think of something to go in it's place and you will love it. How awesome to have friends and family work so hard for you. And having a clean slate means lots of garden shopping :P I rate that 'up there' with craft shopping lol.

Popeye, having a written plan is a good idea. There is something satisfying in ticking off the to-do jobs. The nurse will probably find MrP's phone under the bed or somewhere similar.

The suns out so I'm going to have another go at the aggies. I'm up to the biggest clump and I might be able to get the spade into some of it. I've made room for the wheelbarrow now so I'll take that with me. It will save me having to lug armfuls to the bins. What bugs me is I never planted the blimmen things, they just grew from seeds the birds dropped or the wind blew in. I cut the flower heads off quickly so I don't return the 'favour' to anyone.

I'm still beavering away with this blanket and have started another block of squares. Pretty basic knitting but it is using my stash up. My sister has bought a camper van she said we could use so I might just stash this blanket away for those times as we will take our own bedding.

Time to move, the Furry One is bashing me with his rope, I can take the hint it's time to play.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
Its dark here lol.. But it hasn't rained yet. and its quite chilly too.

Tried talking to MrP twice yesterday but the phones are hopeless.. So I haven't found out if he still has his mobile, as yet. I'm hoping to speak to the dr today. to find out if he is taking calming drugs, he has to be lol cos Ive never known him to be this calm.

I painted for 2.5 hours yesterday and totally enjoyed it. So I will do more today. Im going to leave the colour Im short of and just go through all my spares and see if I have anything that will blend in.

Sunflowers I think after you get over the shock you will enjoy laying out a new garden.

Have a fab day everyone

Good morning all - beautiful day here - but chilly over night
Popeye - keep plenty of your cats favourite food in your pantry - supplies of all sorts of stuff at the supermarket are not guaranteed - so while we can just eat something else cats and dogs know what they want and that’s it .
The problem is with shipping and getting the containers off the wharf - it’s not only the supermarkets who are waiting sometimes over a month for a container to clear the wharf after it arrives -builders can’t get supplies like nails etc and places like Harvey Norman are in the same boat .Kiwi manufactures are struggling often with their packaging - like potato chips are short because the special stuff they are packaged in is sitting somewhere in a container on the wharf - very difficult time for retailers but cats don’t understand that

Good Morning Ladies, Will you can't please everyone. Had a note in my box about the silk tree coming down. this morning. Then council phoned and asked if they could come around to see why it was cut down. A large piece came down about a couple of years ago in a gale we had. It was to came down as it was rotten at the base and I did not want it to come down on the shed or the house or people.
Yes! there was tears as we had many a good times under it.
Now I need to feed the soil and start again. The guys where great, they would come to me and ask what trees etc etc I wanted down.Going to pull out some bites in my flower garden and dug it over. Was given a card to go shopping for new plants etc, etc.
Time to move now I have had my coffee and load washing waiting for me.
Good to hear Mr P is a lot calmer. They will work out his drugs etc before he leaves the hospital. for rehab. In the meantime you can rest and the days are yours.

Kiwimade, good to hear you are just about finished your gardens etc for winter. How the winter craft planning going?
Have heaps to keep me busy. My list very long. I keep looking at it and somethings can wait till Spring.
Yes! I have noticed some items missing when I was out shopping at the S/market on Friday.
Have some business to see to and hope it gets cleaned up today. It's been an on going thing for a few months now. So over it!
Time to move ladies, enjoy your day.

Exactly Gerry, Missy would give me the cold shoulder if she didn't have what she likes lol.
I remember years ago we were waiting for something that was stuck on the wharf, I cant remember what it was but MrP's Uncle's plight put it into perspective, He was waiting for his new Hip.

I now only have stripping my bed and that washing and MrP's Duvet cover. Then everything is done and fresh.
Ive been waiting to hear from the DR at the hospital but might have to ring and find out what is going on.

Sunflowers how dare the council and neighbour's poke their noses in your business. What is on your property is yours to do what you want with. That would annoy the heck out of me.. Well it has, talk about the blardy cheek of it.

Its sunny here now...

popeye333 - 2021-04-19 12:31:00
16992

morning ladies :) What a blimmen cheek, sunflowers. It was your tree on your property. If it was a native tree, then the council could check and see why but this was a silk tree. So much for being proactive. Boy, some people are nosey!

I noticed it wasn't just cat food missing off the shelves at the supermarket. Spray and wipe has been missing from my supermarket for a month now.

Yesterday I dug out two clumps of aggies. Not just cut back and sliced through but dug out. I've worked my way to where they grow in soil and not through the hard road metal. So satisfying to have them out and this morning, I'll tackle the biggest clump. As long as I clear away all the dead growth, the spade goes through it pretty easily. I slice it into manageable pieces and bit by bit it's dug out.

I don't have many plans craft wise, will use up this stash of wool/yarn and I'll go back to my embroidery. I'm still thinking of what to stitch next. Whatever it is, it has to have a purpose as I don't like pieces lying in a draw or cupboard. It seems a waste of effort to me doing that.

Time to get cracking. I have a few things to do inside before I start digging those aggies again.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
Dull and grey again today haven't had any of the rain we are meant to be having tho.
Yesterday was good until about 4pm when the nurses let MrP ring, cos he needed calming down, He was ballistic to say the least.. Ive asked them not to let him ring when he is like that. It was quite upsetting, especially when he said I was having an affair.. The fool... He really doesn't understand how sick he is.

I ended up pottering around ,waiting for the Dr to ring and he didn't. Must have been busy.

This morning Im going to paint.. Im getting close to one of the eyes.... And I will stay away from the laundry lol. Have a couple of calls to make too but Ill wait till I have spoken to the dr.

How is the back handling all that destruction of the aggies Kiwimade..?

Have a fab day everyone

Good morning bit overcast and chilly - the supermarkets sure are struggling to keep the shelves stocked and some customers take it out on the staff which is absolutely unfair -
Popeye one of the ladies from the hospice sat me down one day and we looked online at the side effects of some of the drugs my old boy was taking - I think coupled with fear it made him at times very unpredictable- it’s so hard but the staff shouldn’t let him call you
I have had a bit of a blip with my blanket - I actually bought the yarn over 12 months ago but with shifting it sort of got ignored - I ran out of one colour so I ordered more and the colour is visibly different - it’s the same shade number - the blanket is huge and because it is not straight rows I am hoping it will just blend in - I am at row 170 of 240 so I just have to soldier on ignoring it !

Yes Gerry I have been looking at his meds and conditions..

I read about Vascular dementia which sounded more like MrP's stuff. he has had several TIA (mini strokes) along with his heart stuff not pumping blood around.

I spoke to the orthotics people this morning since they were the only ones available.. MrP is of course calm today.
I also spoke to Winz and I will remain on his pension while he is still alive. And it can be different if the Hospital puts him into a secure home.

I am Very Much relieved..

My Light pad for my painting is playing up so I ended up using 4 lights in total and a magnifying glass and I got quite a bit of Painting done.. Working on the top of the nose and going up to her eye.

Ohh Gerry I wouldn't be undoing the blanket either... It makes it Totally Unique.

morning ladies :) Another still, calm morning here butno doubt the rain will be back.

I'm glad you spoke with the Super people, popeye. It's always good to know where you stand and what to expect financially. I'm really surprised the hospital staff let him phone you when he was so upset and aggressive. Especially knowing the way he speaks to you when he is like that.

I would have done the same as you, Gerry, and not unpicked the blanket. As you say, you are so close to finishing, and if the colour is staggered then it may not be so obvious. Over time, it could fade a bit too.

I'm going to have another go at the aggies this morning. Yesterday's clump was just over a meter in diameter and about waste high. I didn't get all of it dug out, the middle bit is pretty stubborn so I'm going to spray it with Roundup. I sliced the tubers as far down as I could go to start the rotting process though. Two more clumps to go, they are quite a bit smaller so I'm hoping I can dig them out this morning. My back is telling me it's been working lol and boy do I sleep well at night. All worth it I think.

It's not just supermarkets having difficulties getting supplies. MrK's nephew also had a dog with epilepsy and was on the same meds as the Furry One. His vet couldn't get his medication and had to change it which anyone with epilepsy will tell you is dangerous without doing a withdrawl of the old medication slowly. Unfortunately they had no choice in this case and the nephews dog had a massive seizure and passed away. Just awful. It could so easily have been the Furry One and we are so grateful to our vet for the way she has managed the Furry One's meds over the last 18 months.

Two more squares to knit and a third block will be finished. I'm not going to have enough yarn/wool to finish a blanket but it will be there to work on as I knit more and use the leftovers. A work in progress that is going to take time.

Time to get moving, the washing machine has beeped and coffee finished. If I'm lucky, I'll get the washing dry outside today.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Ohh Kiwimade that is soo sad re the nephews dog. what a wrench that will be.

Just turned the news on to learn about the new Health reforms etc.. Now it might mean the system might run smoother and also mean that people in different center's can have the chance of surgery not performed in their area. I have a friend who desperately needs a gastric bypass, but they only do a few each year in Tauranga. It would be life changing for her.

A nurse rang last night to tell me that MrP wants more clothes.. and expected me to run up there today.. But I said I would take them up on Thursday. He hadnt been MrP's nurse so asked me what he was liked.. Not that it mattered too much cos they were moving him as soon as a bed came free.
I will take some up but I have to admit that I dont know if I want to see him.. Chances are he could be nice and pie, or still nasty. Ill ask at the nurses station before I go in.

I managed to get some painting done yesterday despite the light pad crashing... Ive been looking at led lighted magnifying lamps that you can clip onto a table etc. I have a good position to do it.. They are roughly the same prices as the light pad's. Ive had 2 lights now that have died on me. Its the cord fitting that is the problem.

Ive been very good and havent been to the oppy this week, its now 50% off everything lol.

Have a fab day everyone

Gerry good morning grey old day in the Bay today
If I was physically able to give myself a kick in the backside yesterday I would have - my craft room is completely disorganised - it’s all in bins stacked on shelves - yesterday my sister wanted some black wool - digging through multiple bins opened one and there was the rest of my blanket wool - I must have put it in two bins - but I decided not to unpick the ten rows - it takes over 1 hour a row and if it was just one ball I would do it but as it is multiple balls each row it would take hours to keep the multiple balls seperate - the blanket has 4 different shades of grey so it is what it is - must get my son to show me how to put a photo on here - can do it on email and Facebook
Popeye pleased you talked to Winz I ended up in a pickle over medicines supplied in the last few days he was alive
Kiwimade you will be pleased to see the end of those agapanthus - I planted some at one of our houses in Taupo - noticed the last time we were up there that they have completely taken over

gerry64 - 2021-04-21 09:27:00
16999

Ohh Gerry not good re the wool and yeah I wouldnt undo anything either.. It will be loved for the amount of work that has gone into it.

I would never plant agapanthus or Yukka's lol Im a lazy gardener, anything that takes too much work isn't on my list lol Ive turned down the passionfruit and Blackberry vines, cos it will add to my workload.

Spoke to MrP before he is calm again. But he thinks he is coming home with me tomorrow.
I then spoke to the nurse and they physc team and social worker are seeing him tomorrow... I am taking clothes up to him so Im hoping to miss that session for him. If I am there its going to be the hardest day of my life I think.

popeye333 - 2021-04-21 12:10:00
17000

morning ladies :) Ohhhhhhh Gerry lol. I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself but laugh when you said you found the wool. The things we do lol. I wouldn't unpick it either. I bet you will be glad when you have finished. At one stage or another we've all taken on those big projects and have all been pleased to see the back of them. And yep, I'll include digging out those aggies in that statement.

Yesterday I dug out the big meter wide clump. I wasn't going to but looking at it with fresh eyes from the day before, I saw an easy bit to dig out and it started from there. It was out before morning tea. The pieces are huge and I have a crater where it was. So today I will dig out the last two smaller clumps.

Good luck with MrP today, popeye. I think it's going to be an upsetting day regardless if you are there or not.

One more square to go and this block I'm knitting is finished.

Washing machine is beeping, I am well trained with the household beeps lol. Will hang it out then have an early start with the digging.

Happy crafting :)
