I reckon you can never have too much wool either

morning ladies :) Wow, we had rain! And it bucketed down too.

I can only imagine how much you are missing MrP, popeye. Yes, you will need rules if he comes home but will he follow them?

Yesterday I spent some time tidying up where the garden had been walked on and a few branches of plants had been accidently snapped off by falling bigger branches. Once I finish weeding we can get some more mulch, no point putting mulch down if the weeds are going to grow through it.

I stitched a bit more of the flower yesterday, all single thread so it's a slow process. I'm hoping to finish it this week.

The neighbour's dog is here to play with the Furry One again and coffee is finished. Time to move this butt.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Thanks Craftylady.. nice to see you again.!

We have had some strong rain too.. Which is good cos the lawn was browning off a bit and I hate that.

MrP was soo upset yesterday. He had his heart set on seeing me today. I asked the nurse before I spoke to him if they had told him no visitors. They said they had.. but they hadnt so when I said I wasn't allowed to come up he got really upset.
So when I finished talking to him I rang the nurses back and told them I wasn't happy and they should have told him, and they were going to talk to him.

Yay level 2 so Im going to make the most of it and go have a wander around the recycle center. Will be able to have a good look through the crafting section too which will be fun.

I did more photos for stuff to sell on here last night. I am so out of practice for that. lol But Ill list them later. At least the listing bit is a bit better now they have changed it a little.

Have you any ideas on what you are going to stitch next Kiwimade?

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) I would imagine MrP is missing you too, popeye and it makes it hard when messages aren't passed on.

I managed to do a bit more stitching yesterday, using a single thread is slow work. No, I haven't thought about what I'll be doing next, I'll have to put my thinking cap on.

I'm still working my way round the garden. I split some plants up yesterday and cut back a large dahlia that had been knocked over in the wind then stepped on as I dug out the climbing rose. I moved a small fuchsia that wasn't doing very well and weeded as I went. In spite of the rain we have had, the ground was dry in places.

This week we will be returning my sister-in-law's car. She left it here as we took her to the hospital. She finally went home yesterday after a caregiver was able to leave Auckland. It has been a drama fueled week thanks to her behaviour and we are all over it. So we will drop her car off and come home.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

MrP has promised to make more of an effort as do I, Im not perfect lol.. So Ive just left a message with the boss and we will see what happens with their meeting..

I went to the junktion yesterday. It was nice to wander around but they have changed things around and the craft section is looking very say to say the least. They have clothes now too which is something I know they wanted to stare clear of but alot of people must be donating to there since the oppies arent accepting things during covid.
Popped into New World for cat food and bananas and forgot the bananas lol.. Went up later cos I decided to have fish and chips and popped in again and they didnt even have any bananas lol.. Stewed apple on my breakfast this morning lol.

I changed my area in the lounge yesterday, made room for a standing fan to go in behind at the side of my chair, no feet to trip over now,. I dont think Ill ever Not enjoy moving things around lol.

Still no craft as I did some listing yesterday..

Ohh Kiwimade nothing worse than a grumpy patient.

Have a fab day everyone

Good morning from a wee bit chilly Napier - just popped in Popeye I was in the same position as you - I was so very fortunate I had my son who I could call on so I could take a break what I would say take every offer of help you are given and if they don’t turn up or start mucking you around complain - the agency gets paid whether they send somebody or not .I am thankful that I did bring him home so do what your heart tells you to do - that’s my tuppence worth as Mum would say
Pleased you have finally got your payout Sunflower - my friend has a cat boarding place and has several cats belonging to people who were living in state houses that were badly flooded - they are still living in the camping ground - have no idea why it is taking so long to repair the houses .
I am struggling through a blanket for my grandson - it’s a graphghan - my first and last attempt - it’s like fair isle knitting on steroids - I have 16 balls involved in each row and if course when you turn your work to go the other way they all get tangled - it’s going to be spectacular but I am going to be even greyer
Kiwimade I notice the most beautiful sunflowers just popping up above my neighbours fence - they are a deep bronze colour - simply stunning

morning ladies :) Finally, fresh soil, sunflowers! What a mission to have it all done. I suppose they had to wait for autum or spring as these are the best times to plant grass seed.

Nice to see you posting gerry :) Our daughter crocheted those graphghans and I think she had similar issues. I would love to see a pic when you have finished.

We're not watching the Oprah interview as we are both over it already. It's not like Meghan wasn't warned about marrying into royalty.

I need to unpick the face's chin on my embroidery and redo it, then it's finished. Am happy with the end result :) and even MrK is impressed lol. There is always a sense of satisfaction when I finish a piece. Now for MrK to make a frame for me. I'll post a pic when I finish the chin :)

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
Im the same Kiwimade, I dont believe a word that comes out of Markle's mouth... She wanted to marry a Prince, she should have known it would come with rules.. not so much the Confident bolshy woman she thought she was. And Harry fell for it. Dianna would have seen straight through her.

I knitted for an hour and a half yesterday, Was good too.. and that was before lunch lol... One person doesnt make as much mess as too lol so the housework is easy lol.

Turns out MrP had a mild heart attack and stroke last week, and no one bothered to tell me.. I'm a bit miffed about that to tell you the truth. He is getting much happier, to the point he is happy to stay longer, now that the medical side is sorted they will do all their more in-depth tests for Dementia.

I learnt yesterday that Visual perceptions like closeness and speed etc is something that is a part of Dementia. MrP has been like that for several years. He freaks out if he thinks the car is too close to things... Our new car has four corner sensors on it so Ive explained that when its beeping we are close, when its a long beep then its too close so hopefully that will help him.

Im going to the library this morning, I got side tracked yesterday and I need to read at night.

Will go and see MrP on Thursday cos he needs soo much of his gear. Will be hard leaving him there but at least he is ok about things at this stage.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Sounds like there was a lack of communication there, popeye. I would query why you weren't told. Dementia is an awful disease, we have a family member in a home because of it. Some days he is fine, others he's not. BUT he is in the right place.

In the wee hours this morning the Furry One chased another possum. He's really on a roll with this lol. So once again we were outside in our jammies with torches to stop the barking. I think they are coming from the trees across the road. He is in his happy place chasing anything and has a big grin on his face as he runs. Some people say dogs don't smile or grin, but I swear this dog does lol.

I finished my embroidery yesterday afternoon. This is before I washed and ironed it so it's a bit crumpled. I have to buy some boards to lace this one and the bullrushes so they can be framed. Now to think about what to do next.

Morning everyone

Ohh Kiwimade she is beautiful... You can see the depth in her hat and flower.

Yep animals smile for sure, our Foxies smiled the most when our Cat was chasing them around the island that was our lounge kitchen and dining room. They thought they were chasing Millie but it was the other way around. I didnt want to burst their Bubble lol.

A Horrendous day yesterday, His paranoia is up again and he swore black and blue there was an event at 3am in the morning. he was pleading with me to go and get him. That and talking to the head man made me realize I cant have him home, its not safe for either of us.
I was going to see him tomorrow and take some gear in, Ill still take the gear in but I cant see him. It would break my heart to have to leave especially if he is pleading... It would be far easier if he had died than going through this stuff for both of us.

So Big changes ahead.

I went and got 6 interesting sounding books. 5 historical war time ones and one about Jack the Ripper... I have always had an interest in him and other crime people.. Totally opposite genre's eh lol

Dishes and then maybe some knitting cos I didnt see much or puppy school and the Dog Squad , thankfully I recorded them so will watch them.

Have a fab day everyone

Good morning - Popeye it’s so tough - hope you have support around you - when somebody has been part of your life for so long to watch them deteriorate either mentally or physically is just so hard to take .I had trouble with Winz - my old boy spent a month in hospital before we were allowed to bring him home and evidently I was supposed to advise Winz as he was getting extra pension for medicines - it was the last thing I wanted to be bothered with at the time - good idea getting some books that interest you - pleased you have Missy to keep you company
Kiwimade your work is stunning
Went backwards yesterday with my crocheting - noticed a mistake 3 rows back
Bit slow this morning better get the washing out it’s supposed to rain tomorrow

morning ladies :) Thank you for your kind comments. I can see where I need to improve with my embroidery but overall am happy with it. I have no idea what I'm going to do next.

It's the Furry One's 10th birthday today. We have had the best 10 years with him lol, he is so much fun and so loyal.

I was going to water blast the house yesterday but we ended up taking my sister-in-law's car back to her in Tauranga. So the day was pretty much done and dusted by the time we got home. I'll see how the weather is today, I might be able to get it done. If not, tomorrow is another day.

Stay strong today, popeye. Do you have someone who can go with you to the hospital? Gerry is right when she talks about support.

Coffee is finished so time to put the washing on and decide if I should do the water blasting. The gutters say yes lol.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
Yep early, I have a few things to do before I go out for the day.

I have a drop off and pick up in Pukekohe and then Ill wind my way up to the hospital, visiting some oppies on the way. Might as well make the most of it.
MrP had a fall yesterday morning and fell right on his butt. They rang me this time. But he told me he has fallen 3 times, and then told me about the pigeon he had in his room they he chased but it went out into the ward and he hadnt seen it again... I wonder where their brains get these things from. He might have seen on on the window sill Im thinking.

My friend comes tomorrow, its well over 10 years since we saw her, cos thankfully she doesn't have her horrible hubby now. he was weird lol.

No knitting yesterday I have quite a few things to do, so when she's here we will no doubt sit and craft. She is a beautiful crocheter. Im not sure whats on her hook or needles at the mo.

Have a fab day all and Yes Ill be careful on the roads.

l wasn't very good at marriage my second l almost backed out on the way to church only went thru it because the kids were there waiting for me. We ended it after 3 years. l have been on my own for 25 years have been able to travel overseas many times and have lots of fun. The move to Kerikeri was a bold move but l love seeing Violet whenever l like tomorrow we are having a beach day as there is no school.

morning ladies :) What a storm we had last evening! Thunder, lightening, the whole caboodle. The Furry One hates thunder and shakes like crazy so he spent the evening on the couch snuggled with MrK.

Yesterday, after mulching the garden a bit more, I started to design my next embroidery. I'd love to learn goldwork but there is an expense setting that up and we have other things we need to spend our $$$ on so I'll have a go at shadow work. Doesn't look hard and a bit of practice should do the trick. We also need a new food cover as the one I embroidered 30 years ago is getting a bit tatty. So I've drawn the clematis we have in the garden and I am hoping this will work embroidered onto a cover. I was going to stitch a new food cover for us earlier on the summer but ended up doing two for our daughter. Now it's our turn lol. I might even have a tutu with drawing other plants we have growing and see what would work the best in this embroidery style.

Housework today and the last hydrangea is going to be pruned and mulched. I know it's a bit early to prune them but I have a lot of garden to get around in the autum and they have finished flowering. A neighbour has asked for some dahlia tubers but it's just a tad early for that.

I hope you are enjoying your time with your friend, popeye. I can only imagine how much you both have to catch up on.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
No storm here Kiwimade, it was humid most of the day tho.

Well I braved it and went in to see MrP, popped my head in the door and said Do you need a Visitor here lol.. His face little up like a Christmas tree. It was nice to sit for a couple of hours just talking, and resting for me cos Id had a busy time on my way up. He is covered in bruises from his falls.
They seem to think alot of his brain problems are from the infections that he has had for years. Even tho he is on one permanent antibiotic they have started two more.
I got out at school pick up time so it took ages to get home. Id forgotten to ask MrP something so I rang and they rang me on the mobile at the same time lol.. he fell again not long after I left. He said he wasnt hurt but they were getting the dr in just to be sure. his poor butt will be sore for ages.

I was very good and Didnt go into spotlight in Pukekohe, and Im glad I didnt cos apparently there was still a queue at 3pm. lol. Its been a long time coming down here. I imagine its not going to help the wool shop that has been there since I was at school, or the Sewing shop which moved from the main street to a house.
So Karen and I will go on the weekend.. I want to look at candle making.

She rang last night to let me know she had made it to Hamilton.. And I will say it was cool to say "See you tomorrow" lol

Im going to ask her to show me a few things in crochet, She learnt from a very old lady and she does some beautiful stuff. And had things go to the National competitions in CWI or WI as they call it these days.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) It was an early start for us this morning as the Furry One was out barking at an 'intruder'. We don't think it was a possum this time as it was a different type of bark. He really has his mojo on now lol. He was 10 the other day and you wouldn't think he was an 'older dog'.

I never did the waterblasting as it wouldn't start. Our friend who we borrowed it off told us it may not work but it was worth a go. Bunnings have a cheap one so we'll buy one for ourselves. It only has to work twice a year or so, so not worth buying an expensive one.

We have some agapanthus (hate them with a vengeance but MrK loves them) I need to de-head today before the seeds spread. A bit more mulch went on the garden yesterday and I'm hoping I can do more today. MrK is going to tidy up the espaliered camellias, I don't think he trusts me fully with them yet lol. Slowly getting round the garden. Autum is my favourite time as there is lots to do and it is quite satisfying to see the end of our summer's work.

I drew a bit more of my embroidery design yesterday and I'm about to practice the stitches I need and will work out if it is practical enough for shadow work. If it isn't I'll have to rethink things.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone,

Its a breezy day out there but sunny.

We have been talking up a storm lol.. its been soo good. We did the local oppies yesterday and that was good.
Today we are going to Pukekohe to do Spotlight and Briscoes. Karen needs a new cake mixer, so it will be fun spending someone elses money.

She is going to teach me some crochet tomorrow, we will need a rest lol.
Shes looking for cotton to do dishclothes and Ill check out the candle making too.

Kiwimade, use your pent-up anger from the Magnolia tree debarkle on the agapanthis lol..

Good Morning Ladies, Overcast and very grey here in The Bay.
Have been very good about not going yarn buying so far. I 've looked most days on here.. Friend and I will most likely go next week. She been been told to stockup for her church knitting group. Given $$$$'s to spend. I have been very good,as Skeinz is about 8/10 mins walk away. When we go we have a look at a couple of op shops nearby.
K'market open this week and about less than 5 mins from Skeinz so we will have a look there as well.
Fingers crossed I have someone coming early next week to check out the carshed and start hopefully. The shed has to be sprayed and boards around lower half have to be replaced. Hopefully I will have my lounge/dinning room cleared of the plastic bins etc and can go out into the shed again.

I hope you enjoy your weekend with your friend Popeye. It will do you good to have time out with your friend. Mr P is been looked after, so enjoy your w/end.

What a good dog you have to let you know somone was on your section Kiwimade. Hope who every it was, does not come back, now they know you have a dog. . You will be planning your stitch pieces for winter now. or are you busy in the gardens
Coffe break over!
So have a great weekend ladies.

morning ladies :) Gotta love autum lol, it's early starts out in the garden until I can finish the mulching, weeding and pruning. I don't mind as I love working outside when it is cool and crisp. I have about half of the garden mulched from prunings now, a good thick layer too. Now I'm waiting for the maple tree to drop it's leaves so I can spread them around.

This morning I have some rubbish to burn and the lawn edges to trim. I can't mow until the bins are emptied although MrK want's a catcher full of clippings in the compost bin. I might trim the iris' back too. The ground where I buried the possum has sunk a little due to decomposition (*smiles*) so a bit more soil around the rose won't go a miss either.

Good to hear things are moving at last for you, sunflowers. It's been a long time coming that's for sure. And yes, I am planning my next embroidery projects, I think I'll plan a few at a time to mix things up a bit. I had a tutu with the shadow work while watching the Americas Cup yesterday and it's easy enough to do. The trick is to find the right colours, they need to be deeper than usual. I might change the shape of the clematis flower to a more open flower as ours is a little purple bell shaped flower and is a bit small for this style of embroidery.

Suns up, the Furry One is ready to play and I've finished my coffee. All hints for me to move this butt.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
Yes last night was the first night I didn't have my fan on overnight.

Spoke to MrP yesterday and he had just got up from another fall. No injuries again.. They need to sort out his BP meds, its making his BP too low.

We did get hot out shopping. Spot light was packed, you really didnt get a good look at anything.. Karen got some cotton tho down from $19 to $11, for 4 balls in each pack we think lol. I will go back on Thursday to have a better look.
We went to quite a few places and had a nice lunch out. She doesnt really look at craft stuff which surprises me lol. I did see the candle making stuff but too expensive to experiment with lol.
Today we are going to the junktion and then relaxing in the afternoon when I stick some dropped diamonds off my Brother in laws Indian picture.

Poor Missy moo is still hiding most of the time , we really need to socialize her better.
Right I better move so we can go out when its slightly cooler.

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2021-03-14 09:35:00
16873

morning ladies :) Not good, popeye, with MrP's falls. Hopefully they sort that out quickly.

The Furry One escaped the other day. He has absolutely no recall which is why we try and be so careful with the gate. We say he has painted on ears when he is so focused on following his nose. It was my fault, he was sooo excited when the dog came off the neighbour's farm to visit and just took off as I went through the gate. I should have waited for him to calm down. We did catch him lol but boy did he give us the run around. We had just decided to go home and leave it up to him to come back as it was turning into a game, when MrK managed to grab his collar.

It looks like we are in for a few showers today. The ground where there is no mulch is drying out quickly but under the mulch, it is still damp. So it's worth the effort of mulching. Even though we have a bore, we are still conscious of the amount of water we use. I'm still working my way round the garden, today it's the iris' turn to be cut back and divided. MrK fixed the flap on the mower and sharpened the blade for me yesterday as I've been using the mower to cut the prunings up. One day I will buy a mulcher.

I had another tutu with my embroidery and tried the shadow work on a larger flower. It worked so much better. I'll use beads for the centers as this will also add a bit of weight to the cover and hopefully stop it from being lifted in the breeze. I'll have a look in Spotlight for some fabric, I might be able to find a piece in their $2 bin.

Happy crafting :)

Evening everyone

Had a lovely time with my friend here. She shopped, I didnt drop lol.. I was surprised cos I lasted longer than she did lol.

When at the junktion I got some cool vintage buttons, they really were nicer in the older days.
I also got a kitchen whizz. The same as the one MrP got me 32ish years ago. The grater parts are broken, but the rest is good,, the lid on mine has a broken piece on it, and the lid on this one is good. I reckon it would have cost me more than the $12 I paid for it to have my lid replaced.

Got a cool little knitting book, that came out in 1954. Ill have a look at the patterns later, we have just been talking the whole time.

She also told me once I showed her my crochet stitches that I use the UK system so now maybe I will be able to make a better attempt at using a pattern.

MrP ended up having not so great cos the Nurse upset me and made me turn into my "Bulldog" mode when I asked about his treatment, so that upset him.

I have hunted high and low for his mobile, so I gave up and brought another one, it should be here tomorrow.. I will take it up on Thursday hopefully.

An early night is on my agenda tonight lol

popeye333 - 2021-03-15 19:03:00
16875

morning ladies :) I think you will find you will be 'match fit' for shopping and so on without the worry and the actual physical work you do for MrP, popeye. It's exhausting looking after someone 24/7. Good to hear you have your crochet sorted. I'm thinking the American system of crochet became more popular as the internet grew. Our generation learned crochet face to face so was UK based. I prefer to follow diagrams rather than the written word for crochet patterns, weird as I follow written patterns for knitting.

I am nearly there with the garden. One more fenceline to weed and then the mess out on the main road. MrK wants to take the hedge trimmer to a shrub the garden guy didn't cut quite low enough. He can trim and I will turn it into mulch. So far our garden is half mulched, all from our own green waste. I think we will have to buy about a third of meter to finish it. Yesterday I saw the cutest baby bumblebee, not much bigger than my little fingernail. There must be a nest somewhere.

The Americas Cup had our hearts pounding yesterday. We were screaming at the telly lol. Maybe we should have one of those Genesis shirts lol.

I'm going to have a look in Spotlight today for some fabric. If I can't find what I want I'll wait until we are in Rotorua or Tauranga next. Fingers crossed I find something in their bargain bin.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
You are probably right Kiwimade. I think Ive only had 2 oxys in the whole time MrP has been in hospital. And they were from self inflicted over doing things lol.
I wonder if bees etc can sting while they are young.. will have to google that lol.
I slept well last night, yesterday was a hard day. MrP telling me he was allowed to go home etc is all in his mind. I spoke to the charge nurse and she said they will call me in for a meeting before he can come home. And she doesnt think he will be there 6 weeks. I reminded her about the bed and she thought that was a very good idea.

Fanny said to try crocheting by graphs, thats what she does , I think I do have a book with graphs in so will dig that out.

Our lawn has grown sooo much in the last fortnight. Its gloomy grey here I think we will get rain at some stage.

Ill only go out if the phone turns up, need to get a sim, then I can get that sorted and ready for him. It is a skinny phone so we can call skinny to skinny for free and cos it wont be used to make calls or texts I only need to put $5 once a year.

Otherwise some housework today.. I really like it being clean and tidy and I make very little mess lol.

Have a fab day everyone

Hi again, yesterday I went for a drive, first time in 5 months, I felt great. Between feeling sick and some of the meds I was on I held off. I started a blanket for my teen, she helped pick the yarn, just doing a big granny square for her, will see how it goes. I also pulled apart a blanket I made a few years ago, as the centre of the hexagons were coming apart, found more of the cotton I used for it, so will make it a bigger blanket for my bed.

Is MrP being discharged home, popeye? You will need all your ducks in a row if he is. Maybe take someone with you to the meeting, another pair of ears is always useful.

I've sold two of MrK's handmade wooden boxes so he's chuffed.

No gardening for me yesterday as I was in Hamilton shopping. I did manage to find a piece of sheer net curtaining so I can start on my next embroidery project soon.

happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Yes they called it a discharge meeting, so I guess it will either be then and there or maybe once they have organized a bed for him. And more help with him, Im not worried about him being a bully as such, its just he's not who he used to be, all the time.
Ive already decided when our lady comes into shower him, Im going out for that hour. Except maybe Friday when I will stay and visit with her while she's doing his shower etc.

I worked around getting this phone for him and he wont even need it now, but Im sure it wont be the last time he will be in hospital.

Good you found your fabric for your Throw Kiwimade..

I decided last night the only way to be able to see my retro tupperware collection is to have them on a shelf But I want them at the wall end of the breakfast bar. I have more of the slats that I used for the Christmas tree for the door. They have oblong holes in them, so I could make it a hanging shelf and perhaps use big red buttons as the "Brake" to hold the shelves in place, just need to figure out how to make them wide, and a thought just popped into my head, I could probably hot glue them together.. Yay that solves that problem lol... Funny what pops into your head lol. Might have a Tutu with some of the part bits I have later and see how well it holds together.
Its the dessert bowls and tumblers from the 70's era.. the pretty pastel pink, blue, lemon, apricot , white and green ones. I loved them back then too.
always loved kitchen stuff, if I couldn't be found at my grandmothers I was in the catering pantry sorting the dishes into colours and matching salt and pepper shakers etc lol

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) We were in Rotorua yesterday having lunch with three of MrK's sisters. Was a lovely day and we got home in time to see us win the Auld Mug. We were watching the Project last evening and they said we are the only country outside of America to successfully defend the cup and now we have done it twice.

Lawn mowing for me today and the silver spears need cutting back. I'll see how I go today if I dig it up and split it. If it's not done today then that's a job for tomorrow.

MrK is taking the car in for a WoF, the car is getting old now and we hold our breath every time it goes in lol.

I'll spend some time putting my design onto the fabric this afternoon and may even be able to make a start.

Good luck for today, popeye. I hope things go your way.

happy crafting :)

Morning everyone,
Good luck for the warrant Kiwimade, I certainly dont miss the worry over warrants now and ours is only once a year.

Yes today is D-Day.. Its a discharge meeting.. I haven't slept well and its upset the body system... My heart says one thing my head says another. In one way it would be alot easier on me if they made the decision.

We have had rain so its freshened up the lawn from yesterdays cut.

What are Silver Speers Kiwimade? Never heard of them.

I got myself an African violet a couple of weeks ago. My stepfather and I used to have a huge collection of all different colours, this is a deep pink with a yellow center.

Ive come up with an idea of how to do my tupperware shelf, so Ill get that done once I know what happens today.

Have a fab day everyone

I agree Popeye it is easier when they make the decision for you. However good luck for today.

*does the happy dance* lol, the old girl passed her WoF. She has an annual WoF so MrK is very conscious of her maintenance seeing as it is only once a year.

The silver spears is like a flax bush, popeye. They are a lovely grey, almost silver-like and have yellow flowers. And boy they grow big! I looked at it again this morning and decided, yeah nah, that's for tomorrow :P

Hi Everyone, Hope you all had a good day. It's been overcast and very cool with dark clouds, but no rain.Still not got to Sknizs Wool sale. Most likely be Friday or Saturday morning. They are about 15/20mins away ,just a easy walk.
Spend most of the day sewing a bag for a friend's girl. She the youngest of 6. Three going on 8/9 year old. The bag is for her books that she get everyone to read to her and she give it ago as well .Sorted out some wool for myself as well today.
Yes, cars can be a pain at times. I'm lucky!! I get a call to say you need oil change etc, etc. Known him since we have been here in The Bay. One man business.I can call and he come and check it our for me.Yes! there still some great people around.

Hope it will be warm and sunny as I have a couple coming to help me get my gardens cleaned up so I can have some winter veggies at the w/end. Once that done I can keep up with it. My new herbs are doing well in pots.
Yes! it was good to see the last boat race yesterday. Good on NZ.!!!!.
Good to hear you made it to some shops for your fabric Kiwimade. Hope everyone is ok.

Popeye, Hope the meeting went well for you today. I know the feeling having to go to the meetings. I have a couple of friends who are nursing still and came along with me. Yes! we get that look of why are you here as well when one comes into the room.
Have a great evening. Stay Safe!!

Phew Kiwimade, glad it passed.

The Silver Spears sounds nice.

I can imagine what they thought Sunflowers, there was us and 4 others at the meeting, and it went well. I have to go get a script made up tomorrow.

MrP is home, his health has improved so much. And has promised to carry on with his now once a day insulin.
He is Covered in bruises everywhere it must hurt so badly but he says its not bothering him too much.
I did actually say in front of him that I cant look after him as good as I used to... The needs assessor was there and she is putting in for 7 day care, showering and housework. They are going to try and sort a bed.. and a new shower handle as one of ours broke. And 21 days respite. But I plan on going out when he is being showered.

My heart is content and thats what matters..

I went to an oppy this morning and got some 2ply wool nylon mix this morning. I tried to ring my sister in law to see if she wanted it, but she wasnt home. So I got 4 balls anyway.. Only $2 a 100 gram ball. Its from Spotlight and the sale sticker says $7. So I will see if she wants it.

Im tired so Ill check out FB and see why we have a massive detour on the way home and have an early night.

Thank you everyone for the support.

That’s great news Popeye - are they going to get him a hospital bed - it made a huge difference for my old boy - hopefully his care givers are proactive and are supportive of you as well - we had some brilliant people but a couple were not so good
Every day is a bonus

morning ladies :) Popeye, I'm glad you have MrP sorted and have plans in place not just for him, but for you also. He'll be happy to be home too.

Housework is on the agenda for today and then I'll start tackling the silver spears. There isn't a lot to do along this fenceline thank goodness. I'm hoping on Sunday I can do along the main highway as there is usually less traffic then and it's safer. So I'm almost there :D :D

Yesterday afternoon I started stitching the first corner of the food cover and I am happy with it. A very simple design but sometimes simple is best. The fabric isn't as big as I wanted but it will be fine for just the two of us.

Time to get moving. Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

It is nice to have MrP home, Im soo shocked at the amount of bruising on him tho.
Yes they said about the bed, cos the Needs Assessor was in the meeting too.
I hope they give me warning that its coming tho so I can move his bed and the boxes underneath.

I spoke to my sister in law last night, she was wrapped that Id got some wool anyway, and Ill go back next week and see if they still have some left. They are nice autumn or "spicy" colours and self patterning.

I meant to say yesterday some of our Freesias are up, the silly things lol, we haven't even had winter yet lol. They came in the tub that we put the rhubarb in.

Have a fab day everyone

My potted freesias are up as well Popeye - weird isn’t it

just come back in from the garden and nope, my freesias are still doing what they are suppose to do and hibernating. I wonder if it's because the soil is that much warmer in the pots? Silver spears pruned and dug up. I've divided it into 13 plants so loooonggg overdue for this. Have replanted one and have 12 to share. I've dug up the gladioli and have the corms drying on a rack (MrK made it for his onions :P ) I think I needs a cuppa before lunch and then some me-time doing some embroidery. My sister is due shortly to drop the Fluffy One off for a few days..

kiwimade64 - 2021-03-19 11:35:00
16892

morning ladies :) The Fluffy One is here for a week, maybe 10 days and as usual, she makes herself right at home. The Furry One was happy to see her and they raced around as only two old dogs can lol.

Some of the spare silver spears plants have gone already. I have the mess I made yesterday digging it up to tidy away today and the last push for weeding before mulching. The ground where there is no mulch is soooo dry but under the mulch is lovely and damp. So well worth the effort to do.

I embroidered a bit more yesterday, didn't get much done as my sister arrived. But I have almost finished the first corner. I'm thinking of adding dragonflies to it too. I just have to find the right thread for them.

Time to move, I want to get the outside stuff one before the day warms up.

Happy crafting:)

Good Morning ladies. Very overcast here this morning. Hope to get over to pick up some wool I ordered and have a look at the last of the sale this morning. It about 10-15 min walk.Been busy clearing the gardens and will mulch it over the w/end.

The guy came and had a look at the inside of carshed. All the lining is going to be replaced. I can choose the colours I like .Did a little dance after he went.
The lounge will not know itself when I move my fabric and wool bins back out into the shed.
The next job is to makeup my mind to replace the firebox or put in a heatpump in.Yes! it's starting to get cooler the last week or so.
It's good to get into the gardens and prepare it for the winter. Not sure if I have many Spring Blubs up this year. Need to lift them up, it the last garden to work on.

You will be busy with the two racing around. It sound like they enjoy each other. I had my cottons out the other night as I needed to stitch a cat on a book bag.Enjoyed working out the colours for it.

Have you got some knitting on your needles popeye after buying your bargins? Been thinking of you and what's ahead. One day at a time and do go out for a walk when the caregiver comes in to shower Mr P etc. You have a Lady Cave and you can pop in and out. Set it up and you can take time out in there. You just close the door after you come out. I found it great to pop in and do some crafting, play a game or two on the computer. It was good to have that space.

Good to see you in here again garry64. Hope you are happy down on the flat.Must catchup for coffee one day.
Time to move as it's getting to looklike rain not far away.
Have a great day ladies!

Morning everyone, the sun is out and we have a bit of a breeze too.

We both had early nights last night and I know my bones have enjoyed it. MrP is achy in parts he didn't know he had until his falls.

I saw your Daughters cross stitch the other day Kiwimade, she has her mums talent that's for sure... I used to enjoy cross stitch. I spent 9 hours at Sydney airport between flights doing cross stitch while I waited. Got alot of comments on it.. But to this day I dont know what happened to it lol.. whether I gave it to my sister in law in Perth or not lol.

Ill be in the sewing room again today, clearing the dumping table again. lol...

Have a fab day everyone

16895

morning ladies :) Yep, popeye, our daughter's cross stitch is coming along nicely. She's enjoying the process of it too.

This morning I'm going to weed and prune along the front roadside. The traffic isn't as busy on a Sunday so it's safer for me to work there. Hopefully it shouldn't take long to do. Then I will have finished the bulk of it all and only have the salvias and a few other plants to prune back when they have finished flowering. The bees are still working so I'll leave them for as long as I can. MrK said he will phone our garden guy about some more mulch and once that has been done, the autum clean up will be finished. Lots of work but so satisfying.

Later I'll start another corner of the food cover. I'm very happy with it. I'll buy some blending filament for the dragonflies to add a bit of sparkle to them. Sometimes you see a flash of blue or other colours when they fly and I want to try and replicate that.

Better move and put the washing on, there are also two dogs wanting to play.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

A Bitch of a night 2 falls, an ambulance and a horrible man.

But Im going to be busy today, we have an inspection on Wednesday so I need to round up all the dead bodies and just give everything a quick touch up.
It was decidedly cooler last night. Missy was sleeping on me when I was actually in bed.
Apparently its different if I sit on the computer than if I sit and Knit.. so today i will sit and do nothing in the afternoon and see if that suits.

I might have a look at some fabric tho.

Have a fab day everyone.. mines shot already cos I hate being up late

popeye333 - 2021-03-21 10:46:00
16897

morning ladies :) dammm popeye, you really need that hospital bed. I hope you both have a better day today.

Yesterday I weeded and hacked back the front bit on the main road. I now have big piles of garden rubbish to get rid of and a big pile to mulch. I'll do the mulching shortly and the garden rubbish can go into the wheelie bin over the next few weeks. It can't be composted thanks to convolvulus and a very full compost bin. I can't believe how cars didn't slow down when passing me. It's not like they couldn't see me when I was walking along the road with armfuls of tree prunings.

Later in the afternoon I embroidered the dragonfly, I used a combination of black and silver metallic thread. I wanted to use metallic blue with the black but only had silver and gold. I must update my 'metallics' :P

Time to get cracking. There is road works up the road so the traffic is being slowed down. Ironic lol, where were they yesterday when I needed them lol.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
I put myself into pretend its not happening Mode. Got the 2 spare rooms sorted and vacc'd along with the hall and MrP's bedroom. sorted the tables in the sewing room again.
Today Ill vacc the sewing room and my room, and I want to wash the cupboard doors in the kitchen. Then I only have to vacc the lounge and wash the floors tomorrow night.
I dont mind doing an extra clean for the inspection cos its means its all nice and tidy again for a while lol.

I was a bit shocked by the amount of tops etc I have finally stacked together , that I need to repair or open the armholes. So after Ive done MrP's hair etc Ill get into that. A couple are sleeveless tops, that I want to open the armholes so I can wear a skivvy underneath for winter.

Cats are fickle, Missy has always hated hot water bottles, I had one for MrP on Saturday and once he went to bed, she pulled the hand towel off it and curled up on it.. Normally she avoids them like the plague lol

Have a fab day everyone

Popeye - if you have no luck getting a bed contact your local hospice - they took us under their wing even though my old boy was staying at home - they seem to be able to get action - they popped in regularly and just made sure every thing was ticking along - sometimes it was just for a chat

Thank you Gerry64

A lady from the hospital rang this morning and has been out, and we discussed the bed etc so she is going to chase them up.

Also told me to contact the District nurses too about "Blueys" for bed protection as he leaked overnight.
And about a lifting chair to get his feet up. Cos even tho he has one, with the care cushion they got for him his chair wont go up.

Ive learnt one thing, its who you know, not what you know as to finding out about all these things and services that are available.
