Morning ladies, well I've had a very strange week. Mr K mark 2 got up Sunday morning and couldn't remember who he was, where he was or who I was - he could remember the dog's name and that was about all. So cut a very long story short, I took him to Kawakawa hospital and he was transferred to Whangarei where they did a CT scan, kept him in overnight and then released him saying he had "transient global amnesia". We went to Auckland the following day and he saw his gp but he doesn't seem to be able to remember lots of things (actually the doc in Kawakawa asked him what he had forgotten!!!) he doesn't remember going to Wellington at Christmas nor where his car is, so we are now thinking it's more than this TGA which neither of us had ever heard of. So he's got an appointment with his doc tomorrow, so off to Auckland again.

We had some lovely heavy rain here late yesterday afternoon, so I won't need to water the garden, but the wretched lawns will grow like crazy no doubt.

Has anyone noticed the crazy prices people are paying for plants these days - check out listings on here for "string of turtles", in particular listing number 2938678562. Maybe I should be growing plants instead of knitting and sewing!!!

Right I need to do some tidying up and cut out some stuff to sew, ready for the next market on Saturday. I'm down to just a couple of face masks and only four bags. The bonus is that the sewing room is in the cool side of the house, so when it's stinking hot, it's quite pleasant in there. In the winter when it's cold, it heats up quickly because it's small.

Have an awesome day everyone and stay safe.

morning ladies:) I must admit popeye, I hold a grudge against Barker for 'defecting' and Spittle for his arrogance in the last America's Cup. Silly really as when all said and done, it is only sport. In spite of the obscene amount of money spent on it.

How bizarre, kuaka. I've never heard of TGA either. How scary for MrK MkII and for you as well. Travel safe today to Auckland and hopefully you will both get some answers.

The wind yesterday undid all the good work the rain did the day before but it looks like we're in for a stormy day today. It's great though not having to water the garden.

I finally ran out of thread so will get more today. I'm roughly a third of the way round the second long side so getting there. I started my sketch for the idea I have, it needs some tinkering as usual but it may be a while before I get to stitch it. I'll need to practice some new stitches first and I also want to have another go at stitching the Furry One's picture.

Time to move, coffee is finished and things to do.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

We are just proud Kiwis Kiwimade, whats the name of the other one that left before the last cup ? can you remember.

Hope you get some answers Kuaka , loving the MrK Mk11 lol.

I moved the furniture around yesterday, used my head this time tho and took the drawers out before I moved the body.. Cos that set of drawers is super heavy and the huge mirror doesnt help.. Missy was a little unsettled by the change, but seems to be ok this morning... Until the couch arrives I guess lol..

I cut out a new pattern and mask late yesterday and will sew that this morning. They certainly help cut out the clock light.

I need to decide if Im going to crochet a blanket and cushions or sew some cushion covers for the old couch. Sewing would be heaps faster thats for sure lol.. And I have inners cos I didnt get around to putting out the christmas cushions I got last year.

I have 10 pieces of furniture in my room and trust me there is still heaps of room in there lol

I tickled one tatty... Check out the 3 sliced one. It grew like that, must have been bark in the compost..

Good Morning Ladies from Sunny Hawkes Bay. It was 21 at just after 7.30 am.
So it going to be a long hot day. Washing out just after 7 am and dry and folded up. Yes! I need to do some ironing some time.
Going to have ago at changing a washer on the tap that outside in front of the house. If it does not work I will have to use plan B which is called help!!!
Sorry to hear Mr K mark 2 is not well. Hope you get some answers today from his GP kukau. Hope you get some sewing done for the market on Saturday.
So I am not only one moving things around. Have had a good clean up in my craft room. Will be having shelves up in the shed once walls are relined on the back wall. There a holdup at present with the size bin I need.
Talking about gardens, I have cleanup some large pots and now have healthy herbs plants in them.
Time for me to make a move as I need to start washing bathroom and toilet walls etc. I picked up four rolls of pale blue wallpaper at the Sallies shop while I was waiting for my friend to finish her morning at the store.Anything would look better than pink walls.
Have a great day everyone! Take Care.

morning ladies :) Those spuds look great, popeye! Nothing like growing your own.

Kuaka, omg lol, yes, those plant prices! I remember when we were first married we had a Monteria that grew as high as the ceiling! Imagine what that would cost now. It's ridiculous the prices people are paying for indoor plants. More money than brains.

I'm with you on the pink walls, sunflowers! That would have to go if it was my bathroom too. Amazing what you can find at the Sallies.

We were in Rotorua yesterday spending time with MrK's sisters and two cousins. Very tiring for his ill sister so we were the first to leave, hoping others would take the hint. She has asked if we would take her worm farm when she passes away. Who can say no to that lol. She will show us what to do and I'll research it. So the garden will have worm wee on it soon.

The thread I bought was too bright compared to what I had been using even though it was 'blanc'. I'll have to try Hamilton's Spotlight and see what's there. If I can't find a similar match I might have to redo it, not wanting to do that!

Washing machine is about to finish and I've had coffee. I'm off to Hamilton shortly to sort out this thread and finish grocery shopping for things I couldn't find at Rotorua.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Yep I agree with the pink bathroom. The one we had on the farm was soon painted lol.. It was darker than barbie pink.. I told MrP I wanted white everywhere.. he said you might regret it.. I said no it means I can decorate with what ever colours I wanted to lol.

IM off for my 3 appointments soon... Then we only have the D-Day one for MrP next week.

Lovely that you let your sister in law rest Kiwimade, some people just have no idea. When my Stepfather was on his last day , his typically loud family were there and I could tell their noise was bothering Jimmy, so I snuck out and asked the nurse to tell them to be quiet or leave.. Which they did and Jimmy calmed down again.

I have a bottle of worm wee that was given to me ages ago, that I keep forgetting is there.. Dont know anything about it lol.

Sunflowers you will be pleased to be all sorted again.

Our new couch arrived yesterday. It really matches with the wall colour etc.. Ive put the crochet blanket I did 36 years ago for Jimmy , across the back and Madam has claimed it. To the point that she plonked her butt on the back at about 10-30 am and didnt get down until after tea... She loves it. so when she is happy I am happy .

I sewed the other mask and it is much better.. I sleep so well with pitch black lol.

Kiwimade are you using DMC cottons? I may have some floating around.

Right I better get a couple of things done , then rattle my daggs.

Have a fab day all

morning ladies :) MrP should be much more comfortable on the new couch, popeye. But even if he isn't, the cat is! lol

I've almost finished the food cover, just the last short end to do. I couldn't get the thread I wanted so had to make as close a match as I could. I can see the difference but unless you are looking, it will hardly be noticed. Yes, popeye, I use DMC threads, they are my 'go to' brand as they are reliable and colourfast.

The suns out and we're due a few showers today so I'll mow the lawn shortly. We have the TV on listening to the American Inauguration, we rarely have the telly on in the morning, usually only for things like this.

Happy crafting :)

Morning ladies, OMG - I've just checked the auction for the "string of turtles" that I was watching, along with 338 other people, I thought the price was crazy when it was just over $1000, but it ended up selling for $3,010. I'm definitely in the wrong business for making pocket money!!!

Beautiful day here, and we are off to Auckland to pick up Mr K Mark II's car which he left in Wellington because the engine wasn't running very well. It's not fixed so he had it transported up to Auckland and we are going down to pick it up. Lovely day for a drive. I should be doing housework, gardening and sewing, but I guess there's tomorrow. He's gone out for a coffee and to take the dog for a walk, and will probably want to head off when he gets back so I had better get myself showered and dressed.

Kiwimade I know you love dogs, his dog is a cross between a Jack Russell and a Chihuahua, and it has big ears and a curly tail that wags all the time - she's called "Muppett". Puss wasn't keen at first but they have got used to each other. I don't think they will ever be bosom buddies, but they accept each other now and Muppett rarely chases Pippi now so that's good. Just occasionally Pippi takes a swipe at Muppett but usually just as a warning and rarely "connects". They are funny to watch.

Right, time to move. Have a super day everyone.

Lawns mowed, just having another peek here while I have a drink of water. HOLY MOLEY kuaka! What a ridiculous price for an indoor plant!!! More money than brains to pay that price. But then again, maybe we should go into the plant propagation business lol. Muppett will have my heart lol, I adore Jack Russells, they have so much personality. MrK MkII's boy sounds a hoot and Pippi will sort him out. :P

Morning everyone

Latish for me as a certain Furry Madam thought last night was a good time to play.. until after midnight so I ended up taking half a sleeping tablet.. Shes a right tart at times.

Im going to look up the plant later, Ive never heard of it.. Crips you can buy a car for that sort of money lol.

My appointment went well yesterday. The first appointment person didnt turn up so I had 2 for the price of one, which was good since it was an upsetting visit. Im all good and the Dr put a referal into the needs assessor about MrP's incontinence and they called Mid afternoon.
My eye check went well and she said I dont need new glasses at this stage and my eyes are extremely healthy for a diabetic. Yay.
And to top it off the chemist rang and asked if I had considered getting my pills blister packed, I said I hadnt cos of the costs so she had a quick word with the boss and Im getting them done free. She said it makes their job easier so Im all for that. and not having to have boxes of pills in a box too.

I went to the oppies between appointments and found three awesome pieces of fabric. One I suspected had a surprise in it cos I could see a bright pink in the bundle and there is some pretty pattern in from both selviges. I also got a T-shirt. I dont know if anyone has seen the photo I put on FB.. Its a grey holey top and it had 72 safety pins put on the front forming a butterfly. I thought it was well done. I got it for $1, not for the shirt but I wanted the pins lol... Ill use the top itself for a bag or cleaning lol

MrP is staying home this morning so I better get sorted and pop over for groceries and do my blood.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) A foggy start to the day today but the sun is peeking through. Housework for me today, it won't take long.

I finished the food cover last night and will give it a good wash today to get rid of my pencil lines. Am pleased it's done and dusted lol, was getting bored repeating the same pattern. I'll take a pic when I can and post it.

Yesterday I started my design for the next piece I plan to stitch. I need to have my design enlarged a tad so will pop into the Wharehouse Stationary and get them to do it. Only costs a few cents and saves me having to redo and work out dimensions. Now to work out what stitches and colours I will use and if I will use some 'bling' or stitch a rose onto the hat. I'm leaning towards bling and that means going round the op shops to find something that could work. I was thinking of an old brooch or pendant I could attach just to add some sparkle. I will need to buy some fabric for this but I have fabric for the picture of the Furry One so will start his picture while I mull this new one over and gather everything I think I'll need.

Happy crafting :)

Morning ladies, was a long day yesterday. We left here around 10, stopped in Whangarei for coffee and ambled on down to Otara where the car was. I drove. Mr K Mk II slept most of the way. We had originally planned to bring both cars back but decided to leave one at his place. So stopped in there for a cuppa and then headed back in the Merc. It's still not running right, but he's added some stuff to the petrol to supposedly clear the fuel injectors. We stopped for a burger and he drove. A couple of times we had to stop the car before it rattled itself to death, and we arrived home at 10. It seemed to go fine for the last hour or so. Very frustrating.

We called in at the Chemist Warehouse and I bought two lipsticks - couldn't get the colour I normally have but they are the same brand, and $11.99 each instead of the $24 I have to pay up here. Big saving.

While we were stopped in Whangarei and waiting for coffee, I nipped into Spotlight which is next door. Wanted some plain cotton to line bags with for the market. Horrified at the prices. Nothing worth buying under $20 a metre and at that price, I'd make no money. So I'll be snooping the op shops again. Most of the fabric I use for lining bags, I get at the opshop for a couple of dollars for a bundle. Bugger paying $20 a metre. Ridiculous.

Right. Washing machine is beeping so I'll get this lot on the line and the next lot in, then I'm going to sew for a while, hoping it will be busy tomorrow at the market, but I'll be surprised if it is.

Take care ladies, and enjoy the day.

Morning everyone

Shopping was interesting yesterday. It was like a Covid lock down rush. You nearly waited in a queue to get a trolley, the checkouts all had 2-3 people waiting while one was being served, and when I got out there werent any trolleys in the bay at the door.. I thought something had happened lol.. but no it was just busy...

Im going to have a think about what to do with my fabric with the surprise, Ill take a photo today.. Its very soft and flowy so I think it will be nice to wear.

Had sad news about our Nephew / Son yesterday, he has just been diagnosed with Cancer and they are looking further.. I had a real p'd off and extremely sad moment.. To lose both is going to make it double the pain, but to think they will be together actually made it "ok" in a way.. Ive loved that boy since the day I met him.. our Johnny Bum ... so we will all travel the journey together,, hard tho too cos he is in Invercargill... Thank goodness for technology...

Have a fab day all...

morning ladies :) I haven't been into one of those Warehouse Chemists, kuaka. There's one at the Base in Hamilton so I should pop in and see what they have price wise. That's a huge saving for lippy. And yep, fabric is expensive. For my embroidery, unless I need specific even weave, I buy the plain cotton used for quilting at around $10 a meter. Sometimes I can get it on special. The even weave fabric is around $70 a meter but I only buy the size I need, maybe a tad more.

Popeye, I am sorry to hear about your nephew/son. Cancer is a nasty disease and affects all of us at some time or other. Technology is amazing now and I think since the lockdown, we've become more proficient in using it.

I took my design in to be enlarged and will have a tutu with it today. Our daughter gave me a diamond painting for Christmas so I made a start on that yesterday. The dark colours are hard on my eyes even with the light box underneath but I'll get there. She thought I might enjoy something new to do which was lovely of her but I think this will be my one and only.

Here are some pics of the food cover I finished for our daughter.
https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1474095592.jpg
https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1474095624.jpg

It was a mission to stitch as the fabric was slippery and wouldn't sit in a hoop even with my hoop being bound with bias binding for extra grip.

And the four corners of the smaller one.

Morning everyone

Yes Kuaka thats the one Brad Butterworth...

I agree the Warehouse chemist has awesome prices, I got my musk perfume for $10 a bottle. And at the time it was free delivery too.. There is one in Manukau City so I hope to go there on Tuesday for a nosey. I cant even remember the last time I wore Lippy.. at a guess it might have been my mothers funeral service, and that was April 2011 lol.

Spotlight is opening in Pukekohe in March I think it is.. Im hoping they might have some good specials but honestly I dont actually need anything lol.

My "boy" as I call John put a photo up yesterday, it was a heck of a shock and I started crying uncontrollably... MrP wondered what was up till I showed him the photo.. He is a typical Burgess male who doesnt like going to the drs, and of course things become to late to Fix.

I have to go back to the chemist this morning, somehow my blister packs got missed, so they did them yesterday.. It was just as well I kept some pills back incase.

Kiwimade the food cover is beautiful. All so light and airy. Im sure your daughter will love it.

Im toying with the idea of doing a wide panel of sheering elastic at the top of my secret fabric I got at the oppy. It would hang lovely. I havent done it before, but I rememeber my mother doing it and the anger that came with it.. mind you Im far more patient than she ever was.... but Ill be really annoyed if I mess it up. So Ill keep thinking for a while.

Have a fab day everyone

Beautiful embroidery Kiwimade. So pretty my favorite is the bee.

Finished another cabled baby hat last night. Kind of lost my drive as local Little Squirts that I've been knitting garments and blankets for is closing. I will find another local organisation

mica3 - 2021-01-23 10:04:00
16719

morning ladies :) Thank you mica3, I have had lots of comments about the bee. It's a Trish Burr freebie for anyone interested in giving it a go. I hope you can find another organisation for your knitting. I donate directly to our local maternity hospital or send my knitting to our daughter in Whanganui who donates it there for me. Sometimes she donates the bigger hats to our grandson's preschool as they are always useful there.

No doubt your new Spotlight will open with specials, popeye. I usually stock up then on things I use regularly like white thread. Sometimes I buy things I have wanted but have been too expensive at the time like my silk/rayon threads.

I'm working away on this diamond dot picture and I can see how the hours will just slip away while doing it. I'll try and get the purple all done today as it's the hardest colour on my eyes. The light box is very useful and I find it works best if I use it in the evening.

Ironing to do today, it won't take long to do. We are supposed to have rain this morning so a good day to do it.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

We have the rain and its very very calm out there for a change.

Yes Kiwimade re the cotton. Ill get black and white for the overlocker, thats bound to be cheaper at least lol.

I found the light pad very handy, have you used it for tracing your patterns etc too?. Just like the DMC cottons, the same numbers are used in the diamond paintings.. generally the ones with square diamonds and not so much the round ones. Oddly the one everyone seems to hate is 310, black of course, but they dont bother me at all lol... I havent painted for ages, since I started playing cards again lol.

MrP is sulking,,, told him last night I didnt need him to tell me he was going to the toilet "Again" while I was watching something interesting. so he stormed off to bed lol.. oops..... He wants his hair etc done today so he will have to get over it... lol

Im going to unroll the two other bits of fabric I got the other day and see how much is in them and to fully see the pattern. they look similar in style but one is back and white and the other white and black and I know alot of people wouldnt understand that, but we crafty people do .

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2021-01-24 09:09:00
16721

morning ladies :) I bought the light pad to help trace my patterns either directly from my artists book to fabric or tracing paper for ironing onto fabric, popeye. I got sick of taping everything to the window lol. It was the best $$$ I had spent in ages. Even MrK uses it every now and then for his woodworking stuff.

I can see I'm going to have a few of those diamond dots left over and will have to either find another use for them or rehome them. I'm about a third of the way through the picture.

It's finally going to warm up today so I've put the hose on the garden early this morning. The rain we had was negated by the wind. You could see dry spots on the concrete yesterday where wind had blown the rain and it had missed the ground

.
Time to get cracking. Happy crafting :)

Oh Kiwimade, I dont know how you do it. What with the gardening and the crafts and the house i get tired just reading about it all. Actually I am very jealous...lol. Your latest food covers are beautifully embroidered. I guess genetics have something to do with it as it seems as tho your daughter is very talented too...not to mention your son who has bravely stepped out of his comfort zone. A very talented family of four!

Afternoon everyone

was up a little earlier this morning to get MrP's Hair and beard trimmed before his shower. ended up leaving his hair cos it was too dirty to go through the clippers without snagging.. He said to take his beard off, but I trimmed it bigtime and he decided he liked it. so he has a short one now lol

Was on a Mission this morning, I have 3 little square white dishes that I use for butter if we are having corn on the cob. But I hadnt seen them since we moved here.. I found them tho, theres a corner cupboard that goes around the corner to the dishwasher and they were around there on a bigger dish lol. Mission completed and things stored in a more practical manner lol.

I tidied the sewing room yesterday, it looks heaps better. And I opened the two other fabrics I got last week. one is really abstract and the other quite busy too lol. Need to decide what im going to sew next. im really enjoying it when I have the time.

Have a fab day all.

What a horrid day in my house l made Violet noodles for lunch left them to cool down and went to plug my phone in to charge and heard a blood curdling scream she had pulled it all over herself. She has second degree burns to 6% of her body. She is so brave once the pain was under control she was telling me what the blisters looked like she proves time and time again what a resilient little girl she is. No horse riding or beach trips this week just lots of cuddle time.

huntlygirl - 2021-01-25 21:39:00
16725

morning ladies :) Omgg huntlygirl, your poor daughter! I hope she recovers quickly. She is resilient but even so, that must have realllly hurt.

lol thank you sunnysue :) I have my routines to keep the garden under some sort of control and am trying to 'future proof' it so I can manage it by myself. MrK is older than me and these are the things you think about I suppose. I'm starting to think about what trees need to be kept and how I would go about the prunning etc. I'm also trying to get the house finished, one more bedroom to do and then the kitchen and bathroom. As for the kids, yep, we are pretty proud of them. Our son's new business is taking off, especially now he has eftpos and our daughter starts her new studies next month. So 2021 for both of them should be a great year.

When it got too hot to be outside I did a bit more to this diamond dot picture. I've finished all the purple and will start the black and charcoal grey. It's a picture of an island silhouette with the sun rising. The Furry One doesn't seem too impressed with me doing it as I sit at the table. He prefers me on the couch with my needles and thread so he can snuggle lol. I must admit, I like that too.

MrK wants to have a day trip over to Whakatane and around the area for a look around. It's his old stamping ground and I suspect this is one way of him coping with his sister being under palliative care. He's also thinking ahead :( . We'll go when all the kids are back at school and we can have the beaches pretty much to ourselves.

Happy crafting :)

Morning

OMG Huntlygirl.. Poor Violet. She's such a brave girl, burns suck big time. Time for some indoor crafts maybe that she can still manage and keep her occupied.. Ohh it will be hard for both of you..
The sea can actually help burns. Many years ago MrP was on his way to the beach and had a boiling radiator and stupidly took the lid off. He got most of his tummy and chest burnt. The drs suggested he go back to the beach and let the sea help. You can only just see where he was burnt.

Yep Kiwimade you and I are in the same boat. Forward planning, cos logically we will be on our own... I have finally decided I'm staying here, I cant be bothered training up a new Dr or Chemist lol.
A friend is coming to stay next month, we haven't seen her for many years but talk often and she would be one reason Id go back to Taranaki, But she has gone religious, and that's fine for her but I don't like it. So seeing her for a few days will tell me whether I couldn't handle it all the time.

Just a bit of housework for me today, I have washing to hang, and will vacc the lounge and put a load through the dishwasher..

I just saw some ones new listings and they have a pretty light denim blue and a Dark mauve if I can call it that, its not purple by any means. I have plenty but they are such pretty colours so Ive put them on my watchlist.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Wow, we have a real pea souper of fog out there this morning. But then yesterday was hot as heck and the evening cooled down so it was expected. I have the hose on the garden already to make the most of it.

It was too hot again yesterday to be outside so I worked on the diamond dot picture. I did all the darker colours while the lighting was good. I've been looking for some bling for my next embroidery and think I've found something that's attached to a hair tie. Could work, just have to figure out how to stitch it to my embroidery.

Time to move the hose. Happy crafting :)

Morning Everyone

Overcast here, I didnt think we had rain forecast.. Not overly hot yet. It wasnt so bad here yesterday temp wise.

I didnt get the floor done yesterday.. I ended up making soup lol.. For a while now I've wanted some decent luncheon for my lunches. So yesterday I decided to cook a roll of sausage meat to have cold, sliced in my sandwiches, while I was getting that out to cook I saw the two huge chicken drumb's I hadnt cooked for MrP the night before. So they went in the pan with the sausage meat. And between us we did the veges. so there is just under two liters of soup to pot up today for the freezer.. And nothing wasted which is what I like.. And thank goodness for the range hood or it could have got bad lol

I slept in one spot for 6 hours last night, lol not drug induced either so am creaky but once thats worn off a bit Ill do the floor and potter around a bit.

Have a good day everyone

morning ladies :) Another warm morning to start the day although it is overcast for now. I'm going to mow the lawn shortly before the heat really kicks in.

I've almost finished this diamond picture, I'll have to suss out what I can do with the spare dots. I think this will be my first and last one.

Our daughter texted me last evening to say they were getting a new bathroom so lots of thinking and planning there. They have two bathrooms so are lucky they won't be inconvenienced too badly.

There are road works down the road so the traffic is flowing in 'blocks' with the stop/starts. It must be super hot working out on the road this time of the year and there will no doubt be grumpy travellers.

Time to get moving, one of the perks of being rural, I can mow early.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Yep fell out of bed lol.... nooo We have MrP's gastro appointment today. a little bit further to go and we will have to wait at the line going into the hospital. Id rather pay extra for parking to be there early, than to be late.

I got 5 meals of soup from the batch I made the other day.. Nicely stored for winter. Our homecare lady and a friend of hers had soup cooking the same day. Erin's pumpkin was 10.8 kilos lol.. It was huge lol She is growing her first gardens too so we are both excited for each other lol..

Will go to Kmart today, ohh the thought of freedom is making me excited lol.

10 cents off at Gull petrol stations today and till noon tomorrow..

Im hoping to not spend all my money on clothes cos I found a beautiful light chambray blue on here, that would go really nicely with the skirt I made and the one I will make from the long dress. And only $16-90 for 10 x 100 gram balls.. Acrylic of course.

Have a fab day everyone.. Stay Hydrated..

Kiwimade

I often think about the Stop Go people who either stand in the freezing wind and rain or the beating down sun. Its not a job I would want.. I Always smile and wave as we Pass.

Exciting for your Daughter,, I have to admit its lovely having 2 bathrooms.

morning ladies :) Yesterday was much cooler than expected so there was no rush to finish the lawn. I didn't think there would be much to mow but still managed quite a few catcher loads. We had some heavy rain last night, all rain is gratefully received this time of the year.

Popeye, that's a good amount of soup for the freezer. We still have soup left over from last winter and my sister-in-law who is so ill was eating it as that's pretty much all she could manage for a while. Homemade soup is much nicer I think.

I finished the diamond dot picture late yesterday afternoon/early evening and found a home for the left over dots. There were heaps left over and I didn't want to throw them out as they are plastic and teeny tiny. Back to embroidery for me now. I'll finish designing my 1920's style hat and make a start on the picture of the Furry One (again!!). But first it's housework time and I have some weeds that need spraying before the wind starts up.

Washing machine is finishing, the beeps have me well trained lol.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Wow it was a hot day yesterday.

We got to the hospital with plenty of time and then wasnt seen until an hour after our appointment. 2 years max for MrP.. not anything we hadnt figured out anyway. And the only thing they could help with is a drink of stuff that has added protein I think it is but its dairy based so not good for MrP anyway. And none of the others are sugar free.
MrP wasnt happy in being kept so long and he certainly wasnt happy with the $14 parking fee either.
We have decided for our 30th wedding anniversary we are going to Hamilton lake for a picnic, which is what we did when we got married. So it better be fine on Aug 30th lol. And Ill wear me pearls lol.

There wasnt any disbaled parking anywhere so not only did I walk alot, pushing MrP was hard. But we went to Kmart and of course Id missed the summer sales, but I did get 4 nice tops, Ive even got a terracota colour, never worn that before, a pair of baggie tights that are black with white flowers on. And a Lovely long black cardy.. And not bad for $94.

We were disgusted with the amount of people walking in without scanning or writing their name on the list. And when we walked out the Security lady thanked us for doing so.. They must get annoyed with people not helping protect not only themselves but everyone else too.
Got the groceries on the way home but I was so hot and tired that I forgot to get some more pull ups so we will pop over again today. It seems our New World dont have them.

When we got home I put a sarong on.. so it is Officially summer in our house lol.. Normally I would be wearing them since before Christmas.

Have a fab day all

Afternoon ladies, well it's not exactly tropical up here, the sun is very half-hearted about showing it's face and we have a cold wind.

My sister phoned from the UK, video call. First she said she had better turn the volume down because her husband couldn't hear the tv, so she mucked around with that, then her camera was off and she mucked around trying to get that working and cut us off. She called back and then I said I needed to go to the loo, so she called a third time and we had a long chat. She said it's pretty grim over there. She lives about 100metres from the seafront and she said normally at this time of year, she could walk along the seafront and hardly see a soul. She said at the moment it's like Oxford Street, everyone out on their bikes, scooters, taking dogs for walks. She said it's nuts, so she is staying home. Only going out for groceries. She said her husband has given her a haircut and not done a bad job of it. Now she'll be wondering why she normally pays around $90 a month to get it done!

I'm away down the south island next week for 8 days, and really looking forward to it. Going with two of the friends that I went with last year and another friend who is joining us for the first time. They are all good fun so we should have lots of laughs. Not putting puss in Club Med for Cats this time as Mr K Mark II will look after her for me, so that's a saving.

When I come back I will have to get stuck in and tidy up the gardens somewhat. I keep finding dead rats on the lawn. Pippi must be responsible for at least some of them, because a couple have been on the front lawn and Muppett is confined by fences to the back of the house.

Right, I will rescue my washing off the line before it blows away, and then go and do some sewing.

Keep safe everyone.

morning ladies :) 30 years this year popeye :) That's a good 'run'. The Hamilton Lake is a pretty spot for lunch, the cafe there has good food and coffee or if you prefer, there are picnic tables dotted around. You'll notice a few changes in 30 years!

I'd say it was Pipi catching the rats, kuaka, but then Muppet is a Jack Russell and they are bred for hunting. He may have caught but only mortally injured the rats and they died on the lawn trying to run off. Either way, it's a win-win for you. It is grim in the UK, I don't think they can get their heads around what a complete lockdown is. I do feel for the hospital staff, they must be exhausted by now.

I've finished the design of the 1920's hat, I made a few changes to it and overall am happy with it. I've decided not to add bling and will embroider the rose and add pearl beads to the center. I might add a feather if I can find the right one, otherwise will embroider that. Part of the pleasure for me is how the designs evolve and the finished product may even be different again as I stitch. Now I have the completed picture I need to 'dismantle' it so I have the bare bones of the design and can work out the order I embroider it in.

I'm going to spend some time in the garden this morning. It needs a general tutu, the dahlias need tying up, poppies have finished self seeding and so on. It makes it easier for the big autum clean up if I'm on top of these things. And I need to see if our garden center is getting any mulch in this autum. We've decided to buy some this year and see if this helps with water moisture and weed control over next summer. So I will need to be on my A game with weeding.

Safe travels, kuaka. I hope you and your friends have a wonderful time.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

I think it might be a hot day today.

Good that the Pippy or Muppet are taking care of the wildlife Kuaka... Have an awesome trip with the Ladies...

Yes Kiwimade its 30 years since we have been to the lake too. I made the picnic for our wedding day so will do the same for the anniversary too.. Im el-cheapo when it comes to buying food out lol

Went back to Pukekohe yesterday, I didnt find any clothes that I liked, well I did, lol They have nice Denim jackets but sadly the sleeves are too tight on my grandmothers arms lol... Popped into PnS and managed to get Missys meat sachets. They had them down on Thursday from $1-49 to $1 but didnt have the chicken one she likes. but they did yesterday so Im happy with a 3rd off.
I'm having a day off, two days of heat pushing MrP around has worked the muscles a bit. The chest muscles Im meaning. But it has been so cool being able to wander around the shops and go back and forth without wearing MrP out.

I might get my knitting out.. ""SHOCK HORROR" lol.. The red cardy, cos I dont like having too many things on the go at once. So if I want to use the blue wool I brought the red needs to be done lol.

Have a fab day everyone

Time for a cuppa :) I've almost filled a wheelie bin but am pretty much half way round the garden. Dahlias and two climbing roses tied up and convolvulus pulled out as much as I can. I need to find out who owns the property next to us so I can ask permission to spray the convolvulus coming under the fence.

Popeye, I've noticed people not scanning too and some of them even give me weird looks when I scan. It's too easy to be complacent and it's not hard to scan. I have my phone all set up and good to go before I get out of the car so it only takes seconds. No biggie at all.

Time to get the dishes done. MrK's planting lettuce seeds so we will have an ongoing supply.

kiwimade64 - 2021-01-30 10:50:00

Morning ladies, well I thought I'd seen it all when that "string of turtles" went for $3010 but I've just seen a hoya something or other go for $3000 and it was only two leaves. I don't know if you can check the listing once it's closed, but the auction number is 2949903435. I am definitely in the wrong pocket money business!

We had a very brief power cut this morning. It was so cold I had the heat pump going and suddenly it went off. The microwave went off too of course, so Mr K Mark II went and checked that the circuit breakers hadn't flipped and came back and announced that they were all okay and it must be a power cut because the neighbours fairy lights weren't on. Apparently the are solar powered and only come on at night - oops. Power was only off about 20 minutes.

I think we are going shopping shortly, I have decided that I need a smaller suitcase for this trip because I don't want to be taking more than I need, and it's hard to only half fill a case, well I find it is.

Right, better get cracking. Have an awesome day everyone.

kuaka - 2021-01-30 11:27:00
16739

morning ladies :)omggg kuaka, that is pure madness! As I've said before, more $$$ than brains! I use a smaller suitcase now and it's much more manageable and takes up less room in the car. And if anything is forgotten, well, I didn't need it anyway lol. We often have power cuts, some planned and some when there are accidents. Being rural we have no water if the power goes off so we always have water in the kettle and fridge.

Last evening I was tracing the embroidery design onto the tracing paper for transferring to fabric and MrK asked if I could use an easel. He's going to make me one that I can use on the table and make it to fit my light pad. I think he's procrastinating on making the cleat for a very heavy mirror that needs to be hung in the bedroom lol. It's going to take both of us to hang it.
I've flagged the Furry One's embroidery for now, got frustrated with it yesterday as I just couldn't get the curves and angles right for some reason. Bugs the heck out of me but it won't beat me. It will just take a bit more time.

Back out in the garden this morning for me. The violas need digging up and separated from the buttercup weeds that have a stranglehold on them and a hydrangea needs to be trimmed back ready for pulling out so I can prepare the ground for a rose to be moved. I'm having a bit of a shuffle round as there are a couple of roses on their last legs that will have to go this year. Luckily this is all in a shady corner. MrK just rolls his eyes and says plants in the garden better not get too comfy lol as they will be moved at least once.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Sheer Madness re the cost of plants lol..

You will love having an easel Kiwimade. I have I guess what you could call a tabletop one. Its sitting on my dressing table. I change the pictures around on it when the mood strikes me, easier than swapping plants hahaha

MrPs mother always said to Move plants at night so they don't know where they wake up in the morning lol.

My crafting plans went out the window yesterday, my friend rang from Taranaki so thats always a long chat. She has offered to visit MrPs big brother and pick up the diamond panting I made for him and bring it up here when she comes up, Ill replace the missing diamonds from it being rolled up and then she will take it back to him. Her parents are both buried in Waverly where MrPs brother lives.

Its very still here this morning so it might be a warm day.

Our pansies grew really tall, I think they may have been giant ones, but I noticed on Friday morning they were laying over, I don't think it was from the hot day before but more like a cat had laid in them. Need to get some more plants,, Im just being lazy like I usually am in the summer.

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2021-01-31 08:50:00

morning ladies :) Well the violas never got dug up but I did a pretty heavy prune on two hydrangeas that were smothering other plants. Wrong time of the year I know but one is being dug/pulled out anyway and the other is one that climbs up and along a fence. The weeding got done too. This morning I'm going to spray along the roadside before the wind arrives and the traffic gets too heavy with holiday makers returning home.

I started my new embroidery and so far so good. I've picked out various shades of green and cream for the hat but yet to decide. When I'm out and about I might have a look for some sparkly beads (changing my mind again lol for the rose). And I need to decide on the skin tone for the facial outline.

Coffee's finished and MrK is up by the sounds of it. Better move and make the most of the calm morning for the spraying.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Going to be a stunner of a day.

My day tho started at 5am.. Missy had been to the toilet and started her Hooning around as they do, she ran over me but I didnt feel any claws.

But

Obviously she did claw me cos a minute or so later I thought thats odd my leg feels wet.. she did claw me, three tiny we marks.. and ALOT of blood.
On clean sheets that had only been on the bed 18 hours or so... What a "bloody" mess it was.. Top and bottom sheet... It didnt get to the wool blanket on top, and I havent looked under the sheet cos of course yesterday when I changed the bed I took the old electric blanket off so we can put the new ones on for winter.
I had had some beans with my tea so that would have dropped my INR a little or it could have been even worse lol..

I like nice fresh sheets but Im not that fond of making beds everyday lol

I dont have plans for the day, but obviously changing the bed and washing is going to happen lol... MrP needs a couple of holes put in the belt his Brother made him last year, or he wont be able to wear it any more. So Ill do that later.

Have a fab day everyone

Evening Everyone, What a day. The bin arrived this morning and now it is over flowing. Take 2 of us 3 hours.Another guy came in and helped in the last hour. The place been sprayed. I'm so tried. Off shortly to have a shower and have some Dinner. The next step is have the walls replace half way up.
This morning I had to go over to the hospital for them to check my hip and my back. Have to go again next week. I didn't tell them I was going home to clean out the car shed.
The next step is clean up the gardens.Have to replace some soil and put in a trailer or two to top it up. Have fresh new herbs planted and making good use of them.
Friends are hoping I have a break away for a few days.Have a catch up with Mike's family in The UK most days. So far everyone is ok at present.

Thanks for sharing your stitching kiwimade. How your gardens going. All ways something to do in the gardens.
Hope everyone is ok and enjoying their day.

morning ladies :) What a mess, popeye! MrK has the same issue as you, when he bleeds, he really bleeds. Which made his PR bleeds from his prostrate cancer treatment all the worse.

Sunflowers, what a long haul you're having with repairs. I hope you are able to get through it all as quickly as possible. It must be easier with summer although those very hot days we had don't help with working outside.

I've finished stitching the word 'Vogue' on my embroidery piece. I had to redo the 'G' as the curves and size of the 'G weren't right and stuck out like 'dogs balls' to quote MrK. Now I'm fiddling around with colour and stitches.

I need to do the grocery shopping today. School goes back today so there won't be any school kids in the supermarket.

Speaking of school, remember kids will be out and about before and after school and there will be littlies who are new to crossing roads etc.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Yep Kiwimade it was a mess lol... All sorted again now tho.. Cant do anything about the two patches on the bed tho.. It adds to the others lol.

Your brought back a good memory Kiwimade. My Stepfather used to say Dogs balls alot lol.. And thats what he called Kiwifruit too lol.

Sunflowers a break would probably do you good, to be constantly at it would drive me potty.

Its overcast here today, not what i was expecting, but Ill take it lol..

Some of the schools up this way arent starting till next week.. they are having about 9 weeks off. No wonder kids get into trouble being bored for that long.

I put a piece of corned beef in the slow cooker a few minutes ago..Not a cheap piece but I got it on the Christmas club day.. And have held out as long as I can lol I will dig some new tatties later to have with it..

Oh talking of tatties I got a box of jersey Benne ones a couple of weeks ago. Had never had them before. What horrible little powdery tatties. MrP peels the tatties here thank goodness cos I just woudlnt have. and I cant say they tasted any different really either.

Today Im going to straighten the spare room, and set a fan up in there for when my friend comes up on the 19th.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) What sad news this morning Captain Tom has passed away from Covid. He at the very least deserved to be in his own space when he passed rather than in a hospital.

What cheeky buggars, sunflowers. Nice to know your neighbours are on the ball and the police dealt with it.

We were in Rotorua yesterday and blimey it was hot. Went for a walk around the wetlands at Hannahs Bay with my sisters-in-law and their dogs. We didn't take the Furry One as he doesn't always travel well over distances and can't be trusted with recall.

Today I need to finish the shopping, there were a few things the Rotorua Pak n Save didn't have compared to my usual haunt. And I need to put the hose back on the garden, MrK is out watering the vegies now.

I see today marks 90 years since the Napier Earthquake.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Ohh such sad news about Sir Captain Tom... Yes he has well and truely earnt his spot. And Im sure he will Never be forgotten.

I miss visiting Rotorua.. it would be over 18ish years since we used to shop there.

Wow Sunflowers there's some crazy people around.. Take care..

I see my wool is on the courier so I will have to start looking for a pattern.. although I suspect I will make a 3rd jacket. Its such an easy pattern and I love the frill around the edges, even if it gets a little boring knitting the frill itself.
We have to go do bloods and pick up a top up prescription for MrP.. And I was a decent scrubbing brush.

Had a good chat with my big brother yesterday, he's up in Russell. They have just moved my niece up from Wellington to Hamilton so it wont be so long for them to drive to visit.

Wow 90 years for the earthquake..

Have a fab day everyone

Good Morning Ladies. Yes! it is 90 years ago since the EQ. Good write up in the paper this morning.Another high sunny day again. We can water every second day at present. and everything can go back into the shed. A friend going to put some cupboards up for me in the back part of the shed.
Will be glad when they come and reline the shed.
Need to pop into Countdown today as I need to do a shop.

Yes! Rotorua can get very hot and dry. Haven't walked around the wetlands at the Bay. Friends have asked me to come up at Easter. We will see.
Everyone busy at present as Art Deco is on this month.
Happy Crafting Ladies! Time to move or I will not get out of the house before lunchtime.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning - missing my Mum today we used to take her every year to the official earthquake commemoration - she used to be one of the oldest there
She lived in a house on a hill and they ran down the hill and the house followed them it was rebuilt down on the flat and it still stands today
My grandmother used to tell her story to us when we were kids and it was so chilling I can feel her pain still - her youngest son started that day at the Tech college in Napier - the earthquake struck and the family lived at Bay View - the Road was destroyed so she walked into town - when she got to the college there were dead children laid out under a tarpaulin and she saw his recently resoled shoes - to get him home to be buried in the family plot at Eskdale she got a dingy and my Dad who would have been 14 rowed his body back to Bay View - my Dad would never talk about it
Anyway that’s my contribution on this beautiful sunny day - am off out to the rest home where my elderly aunt is - she us feeling the heat but was not allowed to go to the dining room in her beautiful house coat so I made her some draw string sun dresses out of some lawn I had found amongst Mums stuff - brilliant so much cooler than a skirt and top - anyway it started a trend I have now made 12 for different ladies -yesterday one of the nurses gave me two beautiful duvet covers - the fabric is stunning so soft - she bought them from the op shop for $2 - they will be lovely and cool .I have put a yoke on some of them with ties and done a little machine embroidery on the yokes - they can wear just knickers if they chose as the dresses cover a multitude of sins - I remember when we used to go camping with the kids I made them out of terry towelling
Well better get cracking
