| I'm filling in time while MrK finishes making his brawn. He loves it, I hate it so he makes it for himself. And the Furry One has suddenly become MrK's very very best friend ever lol. I know there will be a mess to clean up as he uses every pot and pan he can find. Housework is pretty much done except for the kitchen and the floor. Popeye, I found the Chelsea Winter pav recipe online. It makes a big pav but I only make it for Christmas when we have loads of family around. It uses eight egg whites. It's rained heavily so the humidity has gone for now. Edited by kiwimade64 at 9:12 am, Thu 10 Dec kiwimade64 - 2020-12-10 09:12:00 |
| Thanks Kiwimade, Ill have a looky.. Sadly making Brawn is a very messy job lol I dont eat it but make it for MrP occasionally. The clouds are coming in here, still humid but hopefully it will leave here too lol. I now just have the precooks to bag up and Im done. And i may just do them sitting , since theres nothing to leak lol.and I hopefully will have enough room to put in an order for the yummy fresh sausages we get from Papakura . Now Im going to play on here. popeye333 - 2020-12-10 12:20:00 |
| morning ladies :) Yep, popeye, brawn is messy to make lol... and greasy. And it seems lots of people like it. This morning I need MrK to help me set up the old door onto his saw horses so I can scrub it down and give it time to dry thoroughly. I have a list in my head of things to do before his family arrive, not that it matters too much as they are family. But it's nice to have it done so I'm not running round like a headless chook when they get here. I pick up and put down, then pick up again the hardanger so it's taking a while to get around the border. I'm probably about a third of the way round. I need a new embroidery hoop so am doing this piece without using one. Trying to keep my tension is fun (not!) as I am so used to the hoop doing it for me. Washing machine has finished and MrK and the Furry One are up and about so time to move. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-12-11 06:55:00 |
| Morning everyone Yes Very greasy lol.. I hope you have a lovely day with family Kiwimade.. Ours are so far scattered that it just doesn't happen. Dont forget Sunscreen. Im not planning on doing anything today apart from bagging up the lollies etc to be able to give away just before Christmas. It felt good to have all the meat finally put away and with everything close to full Im happy. I do have more room tho in the freezers. Ive stacked it well. What was really odd they didnt have any pork roasts on speciall.. I have money left in the christmas club so Ill use that when they do. Have an awesome day everyone popeye333 - 2020-12-11 07:57:00 |
| morning ladies :) We had a lovely day yesterday with MrK's family and my sister-in-law loved her bag and the little wooden crate filled with the homemade pickles and jams MrK made. It didn't rain until late in the afternoon, about 10 minutes after everyone had left so that was good timing. Today I'll move all the outdoor furniture back and dismantle the trestle table and just have a general tidy up. One thing about family visiting I never have to do dishes :) We'll phone our son today too and see how his first night at the market went. I'll squeeze in some hardanger this afternoon but this morning I need to go to the chemist and sort out this blimmen hayfever. Flixanase isn't working so hopefully they can suggest something else. happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-12-12 06:52:00 |
| Morning everyone. Glad you had a lovely day Kiwimade.. We used to do "formal" dinners with a group of friends and it was always fun and the guys always did the dishes no matter whose house we were in. Ive doubled my flixonaise spray and doubled my loriflix tablets and its holding mine at bay.. thank goodness but its the crusty blah bloody noses that are a pain. I had fun bagging up the lollies yesterday. I got 14 bags, lol oops it was going to be 5 bags so that tells you how much we had lol... Im going to do a random draw thing on FB. But other than that I didnt do anything really. MrP starts his diet for the colonoscopy on Monday, it shouldnt be too hard for him I dont think. I want to go out and do something, but I dont know what I want to do lol. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-12-12 09:07:00 |
| morning ladies :) I had an 'indoor' day yesterday as I was really struggling with hayfever. The wind and our neighbour doing his hay didn't help. Here's hoping for a better day today. MrK has suggested sometime in the New Year we go to Ohope Beach and visit some of his old haunts. He seems to be looking back at his life a lot more lately. The hardanger is coming together and I am beginning to like it now. I'm still using thread and fabric from my stash, feels good to be using those bits and pieces that are just sitting there. I have a few things to do outside this morning before the wind comes back so will dose up with flixanase and get cracking. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-12-13 07:14:00 |
| Morning everyone Dull and windy out there so Ill be indoors too. I picked beans yesterday and popped up the road for some clear jelly and ice blocks for MrP. He's on day two of his prep. 10 am is the first dose lol. MrP has been doing the old parts quite a while now, its amazing what he can remember from when he was a kid etc, but not what he is having for tea, when Ive asked him in the morning what he wants. You get used to it eventually. I made chicken soup for him yesterday as he was still allowed semi solids. He enjoyed it last night but I don't think he's looking forward to just liquid . He likes his soup thick with noodles and bread lol.. but as I keep telling him its only for a day. And he loves jelly and ice blocks so we wont starve. I also am not having meat while he is on this couple of days.. it would just be mean. I might plan a baking session today. It wont happen until next weekend probably cos its for the lawn mowing people. Kiwimade do you get aching hands from all your stitching? Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-12-13 08:22:00 |
| morning ladies :) It's going to be a stunning few days with high temperatures here. I bet we have the wind too. My hands used to ache, popeye, but I think they have become 'match fit'. I make sure I stop every so often anyway and I don't stitch for long periods of time. I can't sit still long enough anyway lol. The car needs cleaning inside and out so I'll do that this morning. It's been a while since that has been done. Another paddock was cut for hay yesterday so it was another sneezy and itchy day. Will be glad when this is over. I'm still waiting for the bedroom curtains to arrive, they said they hope the curtains will be up by Christmas. Me too! Grandkids are coming to stay and I need curtains. Everything is a bit slower now with shipping. I baked yesterday morning after I had done all the outside stuff. Baked a batch of shortbread and ginger 'nuts'. I only bake the shortbread at Christmas time and this is the first time I've baked the ginger 'nuts'. I've put most in the freezer to take with us for Christmas. Time to move, the Furry One is blatting me with his rope to play. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-12-14 06:51:00 |
| Afternoon everyone. What a crap of 24 hours its been. MrP has been soo sore and bitching with it. We went early to avoid the traffic which we did but we had to wait an hour before it opened.. Then his veins didnt want to co-operate so they had t numb his arm and get in with a larger needle. but its over and done with now thank goodness. I don't want another weekend like this. . The roads weren't terribly busy tho which is good. I need to bake before next week for our lawn people so Im looking forward to that. Sort of a craft in its own way. Ill be making shortbread and I got the recipe for gingerbread men from the supermarket so might make those too but other shapes. Time for a relax on here, and let the nasal spray and panadol work lol.. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-12-14 14:03:00 |
| Seems to be ginger all round l have just made gingerbread loaf and ginger biscuits and a banana cake. We are at the last taekwondo for the year Violet has moved up.three grades this year so proud of her she has got her tongue around Korean words better than me she counts to 50 perfectly. She has progressed at riding for the disabled and finished the year going over jumps. l took her to polo when she was 13 months and she fell in love with horses. We are off camping tomorrow and the forecast is great so we will have lots of fun. It has been a weird and sad year and l am looking forward to next year. Hope you all have a lovely xmas and a healthy, happy.new year. huntlygirl - 2020-12-14 17:05:00 |
| morning ladies :) Gotta love un-cooperative veins, popeye. Not! They have to look hard for MrK too. I think for him the scar tissue makes it difficult. Huntlygirl, you must be so proud of Violet. She has achieved a lot this year, imagine what she will be doing next year :D Merry Christmas to you and yours too. Another lovely hot day today. And the lawn needs mowing. Great lol. I'll do the flixanase and eye drop thing and see how I go. I'll start shortly, the bin man has just been (nice and early) so I can put clippings in the bin as well as our compost. MrK has been emptying a compost bin over the last few days and omg, this is going to sound like bragging lol but boy we make good compost lol. Can't wait to use it. Amazing how food scraps, clippings, some paper and some garden waste can turn into something so good. I'm about to start t he middle of my hardanger today, just have a small bit to do on the border. I have some ideas of what I can do but no doubt this will change as I stitch. A couple of years ago I bought a ball of cotton I thought I could crochet but it was just too soft for what I needed at the time. But it's perfect for hardanger. I've stitched eight pieces counting this one with it and have almost finished it. I think I'll continue to buy my hardanger thread this way unless there is a colour I want/need I can't get. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-12-15 06:58:00 |
| Good morning everyone Wow my face was a mess last night. Sounded like I had a massive full on winter head cold lol. Its much better this morning tho thank goodness. MrP has very thin veins, his mum was the same but this is the worst it has been, but being dehydrated doesnt help. Im just glad its over. He had a very early night and is only just up now. Scar tissue is a problem for Warfarin people I reckon Kiwimade. X marks the spot so to speak lol.. Mine has only given up once, when I was in and out of hospital in 2018. Back to using the same arm again lol. I love it when you buy something for one reason and end up using it for something else.. Goes to show that stashes can be handy lol.. So I keep telling myself when I walk into the sewing room lol. MrP is overjoyed. He likes those ice blocks that are tubes. You keep them in the cupboard until you need to freeze them. I discovered that they come in Sugar free at the warehouse yesterday. So I grabbed a box. they are only $1 a packet of ten, and ten packets in the box, so that will keep him happy for a while. General housework for me today, the dishwasher is on. Washing to do and then Ill be by my fan. It was cooler yesterday, I had a very fine long sleeved cardy on until we left the hospital. Very unusual for me. Have a fab day everyone and travel safe Huntlygirl popeye333 - 2020-12-15 08:31:00 |
| morning ladies :) We have thick fog this morning but I guess that happens when we have a hot days and cool nights. Today I'm going to tackle the windows, blimmen birds pooping! The other day we had nine sparrows fly inside off and on all day. On FB I posted there were six, but three more visited. We think one may have been a repeat visitor but at one stage we had two at once. It was a very strange day. I think I am winning with the hayfever, I managed to mow the lawn with only a few sneezes and my eyes didn't get that itchy. Yesterday afternoon I started the middle part of the hardanger, just need to unpick a bit as friction from the thread passing through the fabric has made the thread 'fluffy'. I think I had the thread too long and it passed through the fabric too many times. Time to get cracking and make the most of the cool start to the day. Happy crafting :) Edited by kiwimade64 at 6:40 am, Wed 16 Dec kiwimade64 - 2020-12-16 06:39:00 |
| Morning everyone Hopefully your visitors didnt poop anywhere Kiwimade lol.. years ago a swallow came in the house when we were on the farm, we had high ceilings so there was no way we could chase it out. It stayed a while lol. Had a fairly quiet day yesterday. Typical housework and not alot more lol... MrP's scans came back. no cancer, a thickening on his bladder but he has cirrhosis of the liver. He has an appointment in the new year to figure out how that happened. And considering he hasnt had alcohol since 1990 we can rule that one out. But he did have Hepatisis, only we cant remember which one. It was before my time with him. He has to do bloods today to make sure the contrast dye is gone, so we will do that after Erin has been.. And will get some gas since Gull has 15 cents off. Have an awesome day everyone popeye333 - 2020-12-16 08:57:00 |
| Good Morning Ladies. Another hot day here in The Bay. Busy taken the Christmas Trees and everything else down as well. It be lovely to sit and do some crafting in afternoon/evening, but does not work for me at present. Enjoy it while you can kiwimade. Thanks for sharing. sunflowers28 - 2020-12-16 08:59:00 |
| morning ladies :) It's cloudy this morning which is good as it will give my garden a bit longer to soak up the water I gave it yesterday. I guess it's going to take a very long time to clean up after the floods, sunflowers. I hope you were able to get a good bit done yesterday and the day is a bit cooler for you today to get more done. Well, now you and MrP know what's wrong with him and can plan. I often think the unknown is worse. I hope MrP can have some peace of mind and his health issues can be sorted. Our sparrows were very polite and no pooping, thank goodness. They didn't come back yesterday so obviously they were over us lol. Yesterday I did the windows inside and out. I think I need a new blade for my Karcher though as the windows are streaky. But at least I could finally get them clean. While they are planting the onions and spuds and then the road works, it was a waste of time getting them done. Still working on the hardanger, I'm pretty slow with this one. happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-12-17 07:29:00 |
| Morning everyone, To quote the Mitre10 boys Sunflowers.. " Its a pretty big Job" . Once you have it back to normal you will have time for your crafts. And yes MrP's Health hopefully can be sorted out.. Will see what the gastro Dr thinks needs to be done to help the liver. The onions are being lifted and dried up here, theres also a large area of rye grass we think it is being grown, first time we have seen it up here so it will be interesting to see what they do with it, we assume it could be bayled (sp) like hay. I havent used my karcher much at all in this house, it seldom gets damp through winter which is a bonus. The insulation must be perfect. The outside of our windows need cleaning. Izzy is 6 today. Ohh we had steak for tea last night. It was nice and thick, unlike most butchers who cut the steak far to thin. It was tender and even if I say so myself I cooked it perfectly... And it wasnt till later I thought Ohh B*gger it might Not have done my INR any good, but too bad lol Can still smell the steak and onion smells lol. Have a fab day all popeye333 - 2020-12-17 08:40:00 |
| Morning everyone Looks like another stunning day to be had. The Manuka tree in the corner of the section but is hanging over our section is flowering like mad, so the nose is grotty. They are soo pretty tho lol. Had a quick trip to Pukekohe yesterday.. And Im hoping to hear from our Butcher in Papakura to see if he has plenty of his yummy sausages. Did I mention that spotlight is opening in Pukekohe in the new year? It will be soo cool not to have to travel to Manukau city for stuff. Now if they were to put a Kmart in we would only have to go to medical appointments that way. A week to go. I cant believe how close Christmas is, through covid time dragged, now its whizzing by. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-12-18 08:29:00 |
| morning ladies :) Phew, what a busy morning. I've been making the most of the cool morning and weeding. Pretty much broken the back of it now. Can't believe it was only a week or so since I weeded last. I have one and a half wheelie bins full. Yesterday MrK helped me move an old garden seat he was going to repair for me under my rose Bantry Bay. I'm just going to let it rot but will put some pots on it to stop people sitting on it. We have heaps of seating around the garden so don't really need this one. I seem to have my hayfever under some sort of control finally. At least my eyes don't feel like I have bits of glass in them. Christmas is pretty close all right, popeye. I think I'm organised, I have a list running through my head of things to do. The curtains for the spare room will be here early next week, talk about cutting it fine for when our granddaughter stays lol. MrK fixed the latch yesterday (I had put it on back to front apparently) so all I need to do is make a bed up once the curtains are hung. It will be easier for them without the bed there. Still stitching the hardanger, I unpicked a bit yesterday as I was out a bit. Happy crafting :) Edited by kiwimade64 at 10:13 am, Fri 18 Dec kiwimade64 - 2020-12-18 10:12:00 |
| morning ladies :) Another lovely cool start to the day. I could get used to this. I've started cutting the hardanger so am into the final stages. I should have it finished over the weekend so time to think about what to do next. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-12-19 07:12:00 |
| Morning everyone Have a few jobs to do today, but I will have to pace myself. We got our lovely sausages yesterday and had some for tea. Yumm with freshly picked beans too. The first ones we have eaten rather than freezing them . Right I better rattled the daggs. Ive made and appointment with MrP to cut his hair at 10-33 lol. Cant wait to see your hardanger Kiwimade popeye333 - 2020-12-19 08:06:00 |
| My camping trip did not go well the beach was beautiful but during the night the wind got up which made the surf pound and the tent blow sideways so after 3 nights of no sleep for me and munchkin waking up crying at every big wave crash we ended up coming home early. Best part was l went surfcasting one evening and landed a 18 pound snapper l had to have help to reel it in ,the guy next to me cleaned and filleted it for me we will get at least 10 meals from it and l have boiled the scraps for stock. Completed my Xmas shopping today mainly online. I had my great granddaughter born yesterday a big lass 9 lb 4oz.she is named Demi Mavis Moana my son is totally in love with her. Makes me feel very old l was a granny at 32 but had to wait until 63 for this wee one. I am not up to the long drive down to the Waikato so will have to wait to cuddle her. When all my grandkids were born they all got the book Peepo so dispatched Demi hers already. We have video of my grandkids all opening theirs so the tradition is firmly set. huntlygirl - 2020-12-19 10:10:00 |
| Ohh Huntlygirl a disappointing time for you and your girl.. But WOW thats an awesome fish. Will be very yummy... Congratulations on the new grandie, Lovely name too. A big girl too lol.. Ive not heard of that book. popeye333 - 2020-12-19 12:02:00 |
| morning ladies :) A huge congratulations on becoming a great-nana, huntlygirl. How exciting for your family and just before Christmas too. She sure is a big baby! How disappointing your camping didn't go quite to plan but omg that fish, what a beauty. And from the shore too, well done :) I have some rubbish to burn this morning so will do that as soon as I've finished my coffee and before the wind kicks in. And a little bit of weed spraying to do as well. Our son phoned yesterday and he had a successful evening at the market Friday, just needs an eftpos machine as he could have sold lots more waffles if he had had one. He should have listened to his mum lol. He's off to the bank Monday to sort it out. We are so proud of him. Even as a kid he has said he wanted to work for himself. No sooner hung up from our son and our daughter phoned. Christmas salads and so on are sorted and caught up on family news. So that was the morning pretty much done and dusted lol. I'm stitching where I have cut the hardanger, it takes a bit of time but am getting there. It's nothing fancy as I want to finish. Time to move, coffee is finished and I need to get those jobs done outside. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-12-20 07:06:00 |
| Morning everyone, Going to be another scorcher of a day here I think. A big baby for sure, was she over cooked Huntlygirl? Glad your Son had a successful time at the market Kiwimade. I have to say working for yourself is how I liked it to. yeah an eftpos machine is a must these days, I used to be quite shy about using one for something little, but these days its just automatic. Im on rubbish and recycling today. Missy is going to Lose the wheelchair box.. Shes had such fun with it but it has to go, I want that half of the lounge back lol. I put the lollies etc up on fb yesterday and I have people coming to pick them up today. It felt nice to be able to help some families out. I must remember to write out the sugar cookie recipe I want to make off here. I keep remembering as soon as the lappy has shut down lol. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-12-20 08:26:00 |
| morning ladies :) We're pretty much organised for Christmas, there are a couple of things I need to do in town and a trip to Briscoes in Cambridge for son's Christmas pressie. He's finally told me he would like kitchen stuff which is typical of him wanting practical things. I wont be in town long as the latest plant to grow by the council is jasmine. Oh yay, my hayfever kicks in even with antihistamines and flixanase. Way to go council, no local shopping for me. I didn't quite get my hardanger finished but will do a bit more to it today sometime. I've been thinking about what to do next and I think I will have another go at embroidering a picture of the Furry One. I need to practice his nose and eyes first. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-12-21 07:17:00 |
| Morning everyone A bit of cloud around today, so not sure what it will bring, no wind tho so it might be hot later. Im going to bake biscuits this morning. I can finally use the cookie cutters I got. Ive brought tea and coffee things for our lawn people and I know they like home baked foods so will be able to bake and not have soo many to eat lol. I imagine doing the texture on the furry ones nose would be tricky Kiwimade. but being a Taur3ean I know you will get it sussed. We dont give in to things very often. I dont understand people some days, I had 8 people all lined up to give the lollies too, and 4 havent even turned up. One asked could I deliver to the other side of town, but she still made it when I said no. I said to MrP I wonder if they want us to eat it for them too. Right I better finish my breakfast and go make a start in the kitchen. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-12-21 08:39:00 |
| Morning Everyone Looks like another mixed bag out there.. It threatens to rain but never gets around to it. It was humid yesterday. I had alot of fun making cookies yesterday. I started to ice them last night and I was too hot and too shackey so I cheated and just did "Stars" on the corners.. I wised up and got one of the trays I use for diamond painting to contain the cashoues ( sp) lol... https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1456606628.jpg I was absolutely shattered and extremely sore by the time I finished, but I did enjoy myself. And if MrP had seen me hobble to bed he wouldnt let me do it again thats for sure. Ive made a basket up this morning for our lawn mowing people. With some teas and coffee sachets to use with cold water and some cookies. I will bag up more of the cookies and take them into the chemist, they are a fantastic team there. So today I'm having a day off.. Ill look at my mess tomorrow lol.. As I usually say, the Queen isn't visiting today so it can wait lol. I hope everyone is pretty much all set for Friday. Have a fab day popeye333 - 2020-12-22 08:33:00 |
| morning ladies :) The cookies are great, popeye and will make a lovely gift. Lawns to mow again today, I'll get onto that shortly before it rains. Then I have the quinoa to cook for a salad (Anabel Langbein recipe). Our son and my sister are coming today so it's all go today. I bought a heap of baking stuff for our son, measuring cups etc from Briscoes. It's all stuff he needs for his food stand. They are all wrapped ready for Christmas so that was the last of the gifts done and dusted. I won't be around for a few days so from my family to yours, I hope you all have a very happy Christmas however you celebrate the season this year. We are so lucky compared to other countries, let's enjoy the day and celebrate not only the day, but how fortunate we are. Merry Christmas! kiwimade64 - 2020-12-23 06:37:00 |
| Good morning everyone Thanks Kiwimade I enjoyed making them. Im giving alot to our home care lady to share around the other "oldies" that she looks after. Your Son will love his pressie.. I hope everyone has an wonderful Christmas, and yes Thank goodness we are here and not the other side of the world. Take care everyone... And Merry Christmas popeye333 - 2020-12-23 09:36:00 |
| There are some good people in the world l put a call out on our local facebook page to see if anyone had a tablet for sale as mine wouldn't charge and l got a call from a computer tech who said bring it to his place. He fixed the tablet and was talking to Violet about computers and when she said we share he produced a tablet for her and a laptop for me with best wishes for a happy xmas. A local accountancy firm had replaced all their gear so he checked it all and was giving it away to deserving people. The laptop is very upspected and fast. This morning we baked a basket of goodies and dropped them off. Violet is busy doing school work she is determined to be up to the rest of her class. huntlygirl - 2020-12-23 16:18:00 |

| Good morning everyone We finally got some rain yesterday and its still wet out there. Yay. If it had gone on much longer the lawn would have suffered. Kiwimade be Safe on the roads... I have a huge aversion to travelling at this time of year. Missy Won a Fancy feast Gift pack on FB yesterday.. It was wrapped really nicely with a printed card to Missy from me, and has 3 tins and about a dozen sachets I think it is. I know two others who got them too.. So it must be costing the company an fortune as they were couriered out too.. A good way for her to try different meats without costing anything. A fair bit to do up the road today so I was hoping we could leave early but MrP is still asleep so Ill leave him for now. Please everyone have an awesome Christmas, have fun, and see you all back soon. Edited by popeye333 at 8:19 am, Thu 24 Dec popeye333 - 2020-12-24 08:16:00 |

I havent done anything in the last few days so need to make myself a list to get me cracking. Travel safe if your on the roads Have a good day popeye333 - 2020-12-27 09:05:00 |
| morning ladies :) How lovely, huntlygirl, what a generous thing to happen. And good thinking by the accountancy firm too. I love hearing stories like that. You've had that bug for a while now, sunflowers. Fingers and everything crossed you beat it soon. We had a mixed day for Christmas Day. MrK's sister was taken to ICU early Christmas morning and will be under hospice care when she goes home. So it was a very quiet MrK. But we did enjoy the day overall with the grandkids and family. It was a long drive there as MrK got us lost, honestly, how hard is it to admit we need to turn back? Anyhoo, MrK is staying with another of his sisters so he can get up to the hospital easily and I'll bring him home in a few days. We can't organise hospice stuff until after the New Year. My hardanger was just awful lol. Oh well, it kept my hands busy. So I'm planning a food cover for our daughter. She doesn't have one and we missed having one Christmas Day as I didn't take mine with us. Happy New Year! kiwimade64 - 2020-12-28 07:18:00 |
| Morning everyone I think my cloud is starting to lift. Just havent been in a very good headspace since Christmas Eve really.. I said to MrP maybe its time we got back into a family gathering, having it just for ourselves has done damage now I think. Ohh not good news re your sister in law Kiwimade, hard for everyone when it gets to this stage. Ive been thinking about another food cover too recently, especially when I bake. I have what I can only assume was a curtain maybe but its hemmed like a table cloth but its very very fine. Mum used to use it when Icing wedding cakes etc. so its pretty old, but times like when I did all the cookies its not quite big enough. so Im thinking of getting the lightest net curtain I can find will work.. Even if I have to hem it myself I could shock the sewing machine and use one of the fancy stitches which I havent used in many many years lol. But the oppies are shut so it will have to wait I will pull the tree down today. I did some of the things yesterday.. I also want to plant the last of my seed potatoes in the bean bath since they are finished. I got just over a kilo of beans, not heaps but there wasnt that many plants either.. But they still taste yummy so will be used sparingly lol. My indoor Bamboo now has two new shoots on it. Which means at least I know I can grow that. Provided I keep Madam away from it. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-12-28 08:34:00 |
| Kiwimade sorry about your good news. I had a long heart to heart with my granddaughter yesterday she confided in me that she was pregnant but didn't know how to tell her mum. In her mind she thought it would make her sad not having James alive, it was unplanned and because of antibiotics after her accident cancelling out the pill. I convinced her it was just the best news Bec could hear l later got a call from Bec thanking me for being Courtneys go to. So my #2 great grandie is due in June it will be nice to have such a happy event in the family. huntlygirl - 2020-12-28 08:54:00 |

| morning ladies :) Congratulations on the news of a new great-grandie, huntlygirl. What a lovely thing to look forward too next year. MrK's sister had a slight improvement yesterday so we are hoping she will be turning a corner. He's still in Rotorua so I'll potter about in the garden today. The binman has been so the convolvulus can go there. My goodness that stuff is relentless. Yesterday I started embroidering the food cover for our daughter. I really miss my overlocker for those lovely rolled hems. But I've overlocked the edges with my sewing machine to stop the fraying for now and will think about what to do with the edging as I go. I picked up some cheap net curtaining from Spotlight while in Rotorua and the fabric is a heavier weight than what I used for us around 20 years ago. I think it will work better for covering food outside but I might stitch some beads into the edges to help keep it on the table. Time to get cracking, I want to make the most of a cool morning. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-12-29 07:24:00 |
| Morning everyone Ohh another wee one coming along, and I agree it was meant to be huntlygirl. I am improving, I put away Christmas yesterday, and then decided to get the printer out and put it and the Laminator together on a set of drawers in the sewing room. So today I will put all MrP's stuff back on display, and then carry on in the sewing room. MrP has lost 25 kilos since October 14th. He's just fading away. So we are not expecting any good news about how far he has deteriorated. Hes a little bit in denial to the point that he doesnt want to talk about it but he knows he probably cant fix this one. Temp wise yesterday and I think today also will be pleasant to keep busy in. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-12-29 08:24:00 |
| morning ladies :) Another stunning day here, I'll be out mowing the lawn shortly to beat the heat. MrK comes home tomorrow, I must admit, I've enjoyed my few days lol. I've frozen more beans and there are lots more coming on. I've weeded the convolvulus and generally pottered about. I'm still working on the food covers, so far one corner is embroidered. I was going to do around the edges but decided a small something in the corners would work. So the first corner has a group of flowers and I'm about to do the bumblebee I stitched earlier into another corner. The final two corners will have flowers of some sort also. The larger piece of curtain I have will be stitched right round I think. I have a pattern from a tablecloth I finished my mother-in-law had started before she passed away. I think our daughter will see the significance and like that. Washing machine is finished, time to move and get cracking. Happy crafting :) Edited by kiwimade64 at 7:08 am, Wed 30 Dec kiwimade64 - 2020-12-30 07:06:00 |
| Good morning everyone Going to be another Beautiful day. Not as much wind so I agree its going to be a warm one. I made my little "Office" space in the sewing room yesterday and am pleased for that.. I also got a crate down that has my collection of Gingham in it.. I had a table cloth that I think Mum painted with those fabric pens which had stains on so while I was cutting out the bad bits MrP said it would make nice hankies.. So I got 3 cut out lol I will overlock and hem them today. The clinic rang yesterday with an appointment for MrP with the urologist, on Tuesday.. very fast indeed, so we have decided that once it is done we will go into Manukau City Mall. Its years since we were there cos mum was with us, so some time before 2011. It will be soo cool to be able to wander around until I am tired rather than not going cos MrP cant walk far.. Im looking forward to it. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-12-30 08:57:00 |
| morning ladies :) It's overcast this morning, we need some fine days as our granddaughter will be staying with us tomorrow and she wants to go fishing with Poppa. We bought her a fluro pink fishing rod for Christmas lol. There was a bit of worry from her Christmas Eve when she told us she didn't have a fishing rod and we would need to go and buy one. We told her the shops were closed and maybe she could let Santa know. But it was too late to ask Santa as he had a long way to go to get to us and had to leave early. I said maybe we could buy one Boxing Day if she didn't get one for Christmas. So when she opened her present Christmas morning she was sooo excited lol. Now we need the fine day to take her. I have chocolate fish as she wants to 'trick' Poppa by putting a chocolate fish in the chilly bin and I thought if Poppa could distract her for a bit I could attach one to her line. Gotta love this kid <3 I can't believe how well my sister-in-law is doing. Yesterday MrK was able to take her outside in a wheelchair which she loved. Hospice is working their magic and getting things organised for her. They do amazing work and are my main charity when donating. Time to get moving, can't believe how calm it is outside. No wind at all. Happy New Year to you all. Edited by kiwimade64 at 7:23 am, Thu 31 Dec kiwimade64 - 2020-12-31 07:21:00 |
| Rats I lost everything.. Good Morning everyone. Kiwimade Im sure you will be able nto "trick" both Poppa and your grandgirl. Maybe Poppa could take her to dip her toes in the water. And Nana can be "busy" playing with the camera to notice lol. I saw a lovely 3/4r sleeve buttonless cardy on FB last night. in 4ply. I dont think I have much but Im going to have a look. Its drop shoulder which is even better. It sounds perfect for what I like to wear. Shopping today and we are taking the wheelchair. the one that the hospital sent doesnt fit in the boot cos I couldnt figure out how to take the feet off it. So we will use the one we brought, and sort the other one out on the weekend. I will be picking the first ripe tomato later YAY... so that will be cool. I have to start getting some replacement plants. Have an Awesome day everyone.. And Happy new year popeye333 - 2020-12-31 08:24:00 |
| Happy New Year! Let's hope this year is an improvement on last year. Our daughter and granddaughter arrive today and are staying hopefully for a week. Our son is here now and today we are visiting my sister-in-law again as MrK has some blocks to raise her favourite couch. She's home and as we left ICU the nurses clapped and cheered lol. The doctors are floored at how she is well enough to walk short distances with a walker. We don't know how long we will have her but we'll take it. I finished the bumblebee in the corner of the food cover last evening, it's not perfect as getting my tension right on the fabric even with a hoop is tricky. But it looks ok. Two corners to do, the next corner will be pansies. While in Rotorua yesterday I called into Spotlight again and bought a few more embroidery thread as they have 40% off. I treated myself to a couple of 'satin' threads to add to my mother-in-law's stash I inherited. I want to stitch something special with them so will have a think about it. I've already used some of it when I cross stitched a fairy for our grandaughter. It made beautiful fairy wings. Time to move, have lots to do before we leave this morning. Stay safe and happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2021-01-01 07:07:00 |
