| Afternoon ladies :) What a stunner of a day today. MrK nailed some concrete reinforcing wire to the fence for me today so my new climbing rose 'Crepsecule' has somewhere to climb. And I've finished stripping the third wall in the bedroom. I'm waiting for the wall to dry so I can sand it then onto the last bit. Time for lunch, then some embroidery I think. happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-18 12:49:00 |
| morning ladies :) It's an overcast but warm morning here, we're having the heat pump on less and less. This morning I'm going to be sanding the wall I stripped yesterday, it should be dry enough. MrK said he will help me lift a heavy mirror off the last wall so I can finish stripping the last wall. My shoulders know I've been working lol. At least the next bedroom (last one!) doesn't have painted wallpaper and strips off easily. I've saved the easiest for last. I embroidered a bit more to my giraffe, it's not a very big piece so won't take long to do. I have an elephant design to stitch as well. Both are for my sister-in-law as reminders of her fabulous holiday in Africa. Time to move, the sooner I start, the sooner I finish. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-19 07:37:00 |
| Morning everyone I did a clean sweep of my card challenges yesterday, cant wait to see what my ranking is for the day. Im going to prep tea this morning, Sweet and sour pork for MrP for two nights, and tuna patties for me, probably two nights as well. Have an awesome day everyone popeye333 - 2020-10-19 09:10:00 |
| morning ladies :) Another wet day but it's very welcome as the garden was very dry. Bin man has been and he's bought the bin back up to the gate for us. He's a lovely guy and very thoughtful. One last push for stripping the wallpaper today. There's not much to do on this wall as a lot of it was very loose and peeled off. But what is left is stuck forever so it means lots of sanding. I have to find and book a motel for Christmas as we are going to see our daughter and her family. They have room but MrK likes a bit of 'quiet time' and I think it's easier if we all have our own spaces. My sister is moving in to look after the Furry One for us as he wouldn't cope with no grass where she lives. And the Fluffy One loves to run around madly here too. She's not a Christmas person so is happy to stay. I stitched a bit more to the giraffe and 'she' is starting to come together. The colours are great too, golds, steel blue-greys and white. Time to move and put the washing on. An early start for me so I can get it done early-ish. happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-20 07:36:00 |

| morning ladies :) Life's a lot easier isn't it, popeye, when the home help ladies help with the shower. They came here when dad lived with us and I really don't know how I would have coped without them. They are undervalued I think. Last wall to sand! Then I am taking the curtains down to wash and donate to the Sallys. I should have taken them down first but oh well, it is what it is. I need to go through all the half used tins of paint we have stashed in the garden shed. I'm pretty sure there is white paint and the paint I need to go over the old varnish to make the new paint stick. No point buying more when we have it. And I need to buy a small pot of ready made plaster to fill in the holes where the curtain tracks are and where some plaster has come off the walls. So slowly but surely I'm getting there. The prep work takes time but worth the effort to get a nice finish. I must be getting 'match fit' as my shoulders aren't achy as much now. I stitched a bit more to the giraffe and she is starting to come together. Am working on her eyes at the moment. I plan to embroider the elephant as well and use the pieces for a tote bag for my sister-in-law. I have some fabric with zebras on it for the inner lining so the whole bag is African themed to remind her of her African holiday. Am looking forward to next month as I am 'doing' the garden festival with two of my sisters-in-law in Tauranga. There's a rose breeder I want to meet as he belongs to a rose group I am in. And there are some stunning gardens to visit too. Time to move this butt, the sanding is calling me. I did the washing last night and will hang it out first. Wishful thinking but it is clearing up this morning. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-21 07:45:00 |
| Morning everyone Another gentle wet one today. Not cold tho. It sure is far easier for both of us Kiwimade. for me it aggravates my back and hammies, so I'm loving it.. He's in a mood this morning... So Ive warned our lady. she will make him forget it.. His biggest trouble being when he is in Pain, he wont admit it, he just gets grumpy and snappy instead. But he hasn't realized I know they are the warning signs lol. I didn't paint yesterday, I'm going to put it away for a while.. No crafts are calling me at the mo so Ill just carry on doing my card games. I too have washing to hang up but Ill use the airer and dehumidifier inside. Have a fab day everyone.. mines going to be rocky lol popeye333 - 2020-10-21 09:26:00 |
| morning ladies :) I'm up early this morning as there is so much to do. Yesterday we picked out the fabric for the bedroom curtains, a soft floral with greys and green-greys. It's lovely and light and airy and by chance, goes with the bedspreads so they won't need replacing. The doors will be one of the greens in the curtains and the walls a soft grey with white trim. So today the beds will be dismantled, curtains come down and I will sand all the trim and windows, fill any holes with filler. MrK bought me a new mouse sander yesterday as an early Christmas pressie as I need it now. It's a little beauty and can be changed to an orbital sander. It has a lot of grunt for a small machine too. It's a real pea souper of fog outside, when I got up I couldn't see the garden. Hopefully it clears away soon. No stitching yesterday as I was with a friend I haven't seen for a while and we had a lot of catching up to do. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-22 06:44:00 |
| Morning everyone If you need gas today Gull has 20 cents a litre off till noon tomorrow. Im full of pollen, lol I sound like Ive got a full on winter cold.. it will ease now the meds are on board. Yesterday I got a letter from the general surgery team, was only referred one week ago. To see if I can have my wings taken off.. The leftovers of my spare tyre. They hook on cupboard doors, and the armrest in the car and the seatbelt lock. Its the same team I was under for the first surgery. And its taken over a year for me to get to the stage that I will risk it.. I may have to eat my words, but I got through it once I can do it again. Fingers crossed they say they can do it. Right I better rattled the daggs lol Have a fab day all popeye333 - 2020-10-22 07:16:00 |
| morning ladies :) That was quick, popeye. Hopefully it will all be over and done with soon. I saw Gull had cheap petrol so must fill up today. I can start painting today. So I'll be starting with the stuff you paint over varnish (or anything that paint finds it hard to stick too) as it needs a day or two to cure. Then I'll put the first coat on the ceiling and primer on the windows. After lunch, the second coat can go on the ceiling and I can do the first coat on the windows. Yesterday I washed and line dried the curtains and took them into the Sallys and both bedspreads were washed and dripped dried. MrK is taking the car into town to have the tail light fixed. Usually he would do it himself but the clips that hold everything in are awkward and it's worth paying someone to do it to stop the frustration and swearing. While in town he said he will get me some more filler for a couple of small holes where screws had been as my filler had dried up. This is the first room in the house where he hasn't had to patch up holes in the walls. I knew we had bought a 'do-up' but 13 holes hidden by wallpaper was ridiculous. Ohh lol, and I 'killed' the mouse sander MrK bought me. It literally fell apart as I was sanding. Couldn't even get a window finished. The velcro on the pointy end just wouldn't stick and kept falling off while sanding. So I took it back to Mitre10 and they gave me my money back and also were taking all the Black and Decker mouse sanders off their shelves. I feel sorry for the sales rep, he's not going to be popular. But when they looked at the other sanders, they all had the same issue, the pointy bit wasn't secured properly. So now I have a lovely (and cheaper!) Bosch that works like a trojan. Never had a product taken off the shelves because of me before lol. No stitching yesterday as I was still going late into the afternoon/early evening and I was knackered. Happy crafting :) Edited by kiwimade64 at 7:09 am, Fri 23 Oct kiwimade64 - 2020-10-23 07:07:00 |
| Morning everyone Yeah it is a short time to wait for an appointment Kiwimade. Maybe cos they cancelled so much with covid lol... Ohh wow not good re the sander.. but its good that they refunded you and took the others off the shelf. some people would just go elsewhere and not complain. the companies need to know about "lemons" . I got chocolate pulled off the shelf once lol.. I had a hazelnut shell in a bar and broke a tooth on it lol. Arrived at the Drs yesterday to find the person who made the appointment for MrP had made it with a different Dr, so we have rebooked for next week. Meant we were out early and back early. Have reached my target for my Christmas club at PnS.. Yayay.. So what I put in from now is all a bonus. Have alot of things to do up the road today but will co-ordinate with the stuff for MrP and work around that. Im thinking of starting a brown blanket, simply cos Ive not made a brown one yet lol. And I have plenty of browns to work with. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-10-23 08:52:00 |
| morning ladies :) What a morning! Yesterday I primed the woodwork so today I have the first two coats of paint on the trim and windows and mowed the lawn in between while waiting for the paint to dry. Before lunch, I will finish all the white trim and after lunch I can put the sealant on the walls. That's the smelly bit lol but essential. Luckily I can have windows open today. The painting is happening a lot quicker, must be all the practice I've had over the years lol. I'll have enough white paint for the last bedroom and I'm hoping the new tin of sealant will do both rooms too. The garden has gone nuts while I've been painting but that will be next weeks effort. The iris' are beginning to flower and the roses are budding up nicely. Somehow I don't think I'll be stitching today. But that's OK, I'm getting my creative 'fix' doing up the bedroom. Have a happy long weekend :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-24 11:22:00 |
| Afternoon everyone' What a Stunning day, and very hot in the sun. After we had finished breakfast I said to MrP you have 15 minutes to get dressed to go out lol... You have been full on in the room Kiwimade, it will be wonderful when its all done and dusted. Right time to catch up with everyone.. Have a fab day everyone Edited by popeye333 at 2:15 pm, Sat 24 Oct popeye333 - 2020-10-24 14:15:00 |
| morning ladies :) Well the windows and door trims have three coats of paint and the sealant I used on the walls wasn't as smelly as it used to be. I remember using it for the last room I painted and the whole house reeked until I painted over it and that was with the door shut and windows open. Today the plan is to put some pretty awesome looking paint on the walls to smooth out the lumps and bumps. It's like a very thick liquid plaster but the sales lady assures me it rolls on easily. And it dries quickly too so I should be able to finish the walls today. Then just the wardrobe and bedroom doors to paint and I'll be finished. MrK had to help me take the light shade down and of course it all crumbled in his hand due to age and left us with an exposed socket thing. So next week we need to get the sparky out and while he (or she!) is here, we'll ask them to put in a new power point too. I think every room has had this issue with light fittings. Yesterday I finished around mid afternoon and by 5.00pm I was asleep on the couch lol so it was an early night for me. It probably didn't help that I had mowed the lawn as well. Was hot and sticky even with the window open and the Furry One was grumpy (growly lol) as I was tossing and turning. So I'm up early, the Furry One has my spot in bed lol, had breakfast and waiting for a bit more light so I can start on the walls. I doubt I will be stitching again today as it will be a huge day painting. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-25 06:34:00 |
| Morning everyone Your certainly cruising through the painting etc Kiwimade... You will be so pleased when its done. Do you have to make any cushions etc for the room? Must have been the night for Tired Taureans lol.. Cos I was falling asleep watching TV so was in bed and asleep before 9-45 lol... It was warm this morning, Missy Bless her (Not) wakes me up when she hears MrP go to the toilet, so at 6am I told her to go back to sleep, so she climbed up on me and was out for the count.. soo hot lol. Unusually I wanted ice cream last night, and of course MrP had the last of it on friday night, so Im going up to get some today.. and I probably wont want it lol.. Ive never been a huge eater of it. When we were looking at clothes in the warehouse yesterday I said to MrP if they take my wings off my clothing will change soo much. Cos I have big arms, small bust and big tummy lol.. Makes buying clothes very hard... So fingers crossed they say yes. We have Flowers on the Tomatoes YAYAYAY lol.. I potted up the chives and put the first two bags into the bath. I will get MrP to drill the holes in the last drawer today and Ill transfer some pansy seedling and then the little flower patch will be done. The Buds are slowly opening on the Zinnias. I have introduced a friend in Tauranga into container gardening etc and she is now hooked too. They got one of those metal square raised planter boxes, so they will grow more. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-10-25 08:54:00 |
| I will be glad when 2020 is over it has been a horrid time for our family drove thru the night last night to Hamilton my son in law had 2 strokes and a heart attack. My poor daughter did CPR for 45 mins until the ambulance arrived. He is expected to die overnight at only 44 l feel so helpless and trying to keep it together for my grandkids. I have been knitting furiously waiting for him to say stop clicking mum. huntlygirl - 2020-10-26 00:04:00 |
| morning ladies :) Dam that's young, huntlygirl. What an awful year for your family. 45 minutes of CPR is a long time and it's hard, physical work. Your daughter is amazing :). She must get it from you. My thoughts are with you and your family (and if you need to rant, rant at us :) ). Today is the final push to finish the bedroom. I am so pleased with our colour choice, it's a very soft grey with white trim. The white brightens it nicely. The curtains have the grey-green colour so we have gone for a soft green for the doors. So my tasks for today are to touch up where the roller went over the scotia board, no amount of masking would have helped here lol. My arm just jerked and the roller when up and over lol. I need to scrape the paint off the glass where I painted the windows. Much easier to scrape than to mask as long as you don't leave the paint on the glass for too long. And the finally, paint the doors. And then there are all the drop sheets to wash and left over paint tins to relabel on the lids and put away. It will be easier for the curtains to be hung if the beds aren't put back so I'll leave that until the curtains arrive in a couple of weeks. And no, popeye, I don't need to make any cushions or buy new bedspreads/coverlets this time. There is a blackbird feeding two fledglings out in the garden. The Furry One has been very good and not chased them like last summer. We've been waiting for these babies as we've been watching the nest being built and the male blackbird has been busy for weeks taking food back to his 'wife'. Just love it. I might get to sit down this afternoon lol and stitch. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-26 06:48:00 |
| Morning everyone, Ohh Huntlygirl, Im not surprised your over this year. Please do sound off in here, it will be good for you to do it... So young and you should be very proud of your Daughter.. please take care. We went to the Junktion yesterday and the two best buys was a 6 meter length of a nice checked fabric, it has sat exposed to the sun in one spot, but there is plenty to work around the square, for $4. And a practically brand new pedestal fan. The ones that have the worst legs ever on a fan, they had been twisted but I soon got those sorted out and it looks perfect now for the grand sum of $6. It will be much better in MrPs room cos the one we got last year has a timer on it and I didnt realise it. Was a med hot day yesterday, I had the fan on in the bedroom last night. Normally I can make it till November. Overcast today. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-10-26 09:17:00 |
| We turned his life support off at 3'45am very hard to get thru it.james mum was demanding she be there at the end when they wanted.immediately family only my grandaughter cussed out her nan and said it wasn't about her. James and l were very close and he was a great hubby and dad my granddaughter is devestated he won't be. Walking her down the aisle in feb. It was good that we chose went to turn him off and waited until every body got there. I have been up since 3 am sarurday so snuggled down hoping to sleep huntlygirl - 2020-10-26 21:44:00 |
| morning ladies :) Huntlygirl, I am so sorry for you and your family's loss. You are right, 46 is far too young. It's lovely you got to choose when to turn the support machines off and could wait until everyone was there to say their goodbyes. It's when everyone tapers off as you say, that it really hits home and your daughter will need the support more than ever. I'm sure you can find a way to honor his memory at your granddaughter's wedding in a special way. I've heard stories where the bride & groom have left an empty chair in memory of a loved one. Yesterday I finished the painting, scraped the paint off the windows and cleaned them, cleaned up my mess, vacumed and put one bed back. I won't put the other bed up just yet as it will be too hard to hang the curtains with it there. We are so pleased with the end results and the room already looks brighter and lighter. And the walls are finally all the same colour. I need to play catch up with grocery shopping, housework and the garden so will make a start on that. Stitching later this afternoon I hope. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-27 07:13:00 |
| Morning everyone I too am glad that you were able to be there to turn the machines off.. They have spent their lifetime, albeit short together and he is at rest. I gave in yesterday and measured the couch and sorted through timber that we can use on it. Even knew where to find the long screws we will need, but need to get more. we will go to David's emporium when we go up for my clinic appointment in Nov. so thats put it off a bit longer lol.. Gosh it was warm yesterday, Id been sitting with my fan on and didnt realise how much hotter the rest of the house was lol oops. The zinnias are about 80% open lol... I need to tie up the tomatoes, which I meant to do the other day. And I'm going to pick the silver beet and freeze it. I haven't done that before but I figure it will then only need a quick steam and will be fine.. Ill have to get some new plants to replace them. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-10-27 09:05:00 |
| morning ladies :) What a disaster yesterday lol. I can laugh now but I was so pi**** off lol. The day before yesterday I stacked the 10 liter pail of white paint on top of another 10 liter pail of paint in the porch thinking I would put all the paint away when I got home from town yesterday. I was knackered and really couldn't be bothered to do it at the time. When I went opened the back door in the morning I saw the top pail of paint with aprox 5 liters of paint in it, had leaked all over the bottom pail and porch. What a mess to clean up. Luckily I had been using a 10 liter pail as my 'house' bucket and the lid was with it so I emptied the leaking bucket into it and scraped up the mess with the paint scraper and lots and lots of newspaper. And on the bright side, I am soooooo glad I had moved the paint to the porch or the paint would have been all over the carpet. And MrK said if I had put it all away in the garden shed it would be quite a while before we discovered the mess out there. I have no idea how the paint pail started leaking, I suspect I put it on a picture hook nail which had fallen on the floor. As for the white paint left on the porch floor, I'm not too worried as we are going to tile the porch (tiles are stacked ready to go, bought them three years ago lol). But the problem was keeping a very nosey Furry One away lol. Thank goodness the Fluffy One wasn't here! This morning I am going to spend some time in the garden, the weeds have taken over while I've been busy with the bedroom. And I have a few plants to plant while I'm there. I'm glad you love your garden, popeye. There is real satisfaction in growing your own veg and I firmly believe it's good for the mental health too. I solve a lot of problems while in the garden as it gives me time to think things through. Huntlygirl, just know I am still thinking of you and your family and hope you all have the love and support you need. Time to get cracking while the morning is nice and cool. Stitching later, I've missed it! Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-28 06:57:00 |
| Morning everyone Oh Kiwimade, what a mess to clean up lol... Just as well you hadnt tiled or might be even worse to clean up.. And I have this picture of what the carpet might have looked like if the Furry one had managed to get his feet into it and snuck inside. And multiplied by two, well that doesnt bare thinking about lol. I agree with you re the gardening and the mental health. Its such a pleasure to be able to see everything growing and to pick the veges. I froze 3 lots of silver beet yesterday and MrP had another meal last night. one of the zinnias is showing alot of colour but not quite fully out. I transferred some pansys into the drawer, that MrP finally drilled the holes in.. I wanted to do it, but it was better for him to feel usefull. Tied up the tomatoes again lol. I still dont have any crafting happening. I thought I would miss it but the cards are keeping me occupied. I was 6th out of the 500,000 that played on Tuesday, so feeling quite proud of myself. Huntlygirl I hope you are all well and getting through the planning etc.. such a hard time for you all. Im glad you are there helping. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-10-28 09:22:00 |
| Thanks for your thoughts. We have been to the undertakers today have to wait until monday for next slot. Been dealing with mother in law today it has not been pleasant she got told by me to pull her head in if she wants to attend. They wanted a two week delay and been ringing all the funeral homes with her requirements. My feisty grandkids made it clear that their mum is doing it the way James would wish. We are off soon to take the dogs for a big walk the old one Nuke is very down and barely leaves James side of the bed. huntlygirl - 2020-10-28 15:52:00 |
| morning ladies :) Damm huntlygirl, funerals always seem to bring out the best and worst in people. Yesterday I spent the whole day weeding as I wanted to make the most of a coolish day. I couldn't believe how many weeds there were but I suppose it has been a few weeks since I last got out there. I wore my gardening gloves out lol and have new holes in the fingers. Today I need to finish mowing the lawn berms and trim the edges. I can't mow the rest of the lawn as MrK used the weed 'n feed and I have to wait a few more days. It's good stuff and kills the prickles and broadleaf and easy to use. Another day went by without stitching. I must get to it as it is a Christmas pressie. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-29 07:22:00 |
| Morning everyone I agree Kiwimade, funerals do bring out the worst. I have an Uncle who likes to use funerals as a place to "Save" people like an evangelist. He managed to get to speak at the service for my oldest brother and we declared it wasn't going to happen again. So at Mums service (his sister) he just wasn't given the chance. lol Have MrP's drs appointment today, I hope he behaves. And will do some shopping afterwards as per normal. We havent had any rain as yet. Was more overcast earlier. Yesterday I got all my scrabble pieces out to see if I could make "crossword" pictures of family names.. I was doing fine until I got to all the J names, and nothing would work,, and then at some ungodly hour this morning I thought just share the Js on the J names lol.. so Ill have a play again later Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-10-29 07:56:00 |

| morning ladies :) What a mess, all right, huntlygirl. Some people just love being the drama queen. My understanding is your daughter is next of kin as she was his wife. So she has final say on how things are to be done. We were concerned we would have a similar issue when MrK passes but when completing our wills, our lawyer said, no, as his wife, I have last say. It's hard for us mums to let go, especially in this situation when daughters and sons-in-law have that 'power'. As for making a complaint with the hospital, you can voice your concerns by using their complaints process (go online or contact the ward). Personally, I think your son-in-law's mum is grieving and wants to be part of the process but has a tendency to take over. I would give her some 'jobs' to keep her busy and feel like she is part of it all, keep her informed with what is happening, ask her opinion from time to time ( you don't have to do what she thinks, but she will be heard). It's a stressful time for everyone, especially as your son-in-law was so young and his death was sudden. Keep in the back of your mind she has also lost a son suddenly. All the very best for the next few, tough, days. Housework day today. It's been over two weeks as I've been busy with the bedroom and catching up with the garden. Am glad I was able to get the weeding done as it's raining today and would be kicking myself if I had planned to do it this weekend. The sparkies came the other day and we now have a new power point and the light fitting has been fixed in the bedroom. The new lightshade is up and it's very pretty. Silver metallic with a lovely detailed pattern on it. Just waiting on the curtains and it will all be done :). I embroidered yesterday and stitched the giraffe's eyes. She is starting to come together, I only have the top of her head to do. Then I'll start on the elephant and sew the bag. The Fluffy One is visiting today and is staying until Wednesday. Our boy will enjoy her company but I'll be cramped up in bed with one at my head and the other at my feet. My back will be killing me by the end of her stay. I am such a wuss with them both lol. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-30 07:49:00 |

| morning ladies :) Looks like the TM staff have been busy. Yesterday the Fluffy One came for her 'holiday' and the first thing she did was find some rabbit guts and roll in it. She reeked, ommg it was foul. It was my fault as I had been so busy I had forgotten to scoop it up. So it was bath time for her lol. Our fledgling blackbirds are still here, they have stopped begging for food from their dad at long last. So cute though and lovely to have them. Our thrush starts singing around 5.30am and I think it's a pukeko talking during the night. So a very noisy garden all round lol. Windows to do today and more stitching. I have the very top of the giraffe's head and her horns to do and she is finished. Am happy with the results so far, she looks very glamorous :D. I'll post a pic when I've finished so you can see what I mean. Coffee is finished, time to get moving. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-10-31 06:44:00 |
| Morning everyone, Geeze I cant see how anything we say is deletable.. Ohh Kiwimade what a mess for the fluffy one and you.. Still no rain here. I got the compost and potting mix yesterday and planted 10 potatoes so fingers crossed they will grow. I had an idea about hanging up an old hubcap rom a car on the stand, with holes to drain water but fill it with seeds for the birds.. And this morning, as per typical for me the simple idea came to mind.. If I put a fence staple into a post I can slide in a pole to hang the hubcap off... But I will make it so I can pull the pole out on lawn mowing day. So that's my craft and recycling idea for the weekend cos I'm taking the pole from an old lamp stand that has two lights on it Having been a lawnmowing contractor myself , I understand obstacle's so try and keep things out of the way for their safety. Hope everyone has a fab day popeye333 - 2020-10-31 09:08:00 |
| morning ladies :) So sad to hear Sir Sean Connery has passed away, one of my favourite actors and in my opinion, the best James Bond. I'm working through a list of things to do around the house. I can finally mow the lawn now that the weed 'n feed has had it's week to work, the inside windows need doing and the worst job, the oven needs cleaning. And I need to find someone who could clean the gutters for us. MrK has been told by doctors no more ladder climbing and I don't like heights. Yesterday I finished the giraffe, a pic is below. And I've traced out the elephant with the iron on pencil so that is ready to be ironed onto the fabric. I'm missing four colours so will buy those tomorrow. The elephant is much more detailed and 'fiddly' but should be worth the effort. https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1427214694.jpg The Fluffy One hasn't been into any more mischief lol but she is loving it here. My sister was saying she recognises the turns in the road and where she is going in the car and once they are on our road she gets so excited. Time to get cracking, the sooner I start, the sooner I finish. Happy crafting :) Edited by kiwimade64 at 6:54 am, Sun 1 Nov kiwimade64 - 2020-11-01 06:49:00 |
| Wow love your giraffe. Exquisite mica3 - 2020-11-01 08:03:00 |
| Morning everyone Wow I hadnt heard about Sean Connery passing. He must have been a good age. Edit to add he was 90 Your Giraffe is beautiful Kiwimade.. Have too admit to liking giraffes, elephants rhinos and Hippos. Our Budgie we had years ago used to come everywhere with us and he seemed to know when we were getting close to New Plymouth cos he got all vocal about it.. he would also tell us off if we hadnt put the seat belt around his cage too.. lol.. It was funny we were talking to MrPs big brother yesterday morning and I lodged a complaint about not getting the rain he said we would have on Tuesday,,, he is forgiven cos we got heaps in the afternoon lol. Picked our first lettuce last night and it was sooo yummy. My INR is going to be soo out of whack I think Ill test on Thursday when MrP has to see the dr again. She requested we go back as his iron is extremely low. I had to sell our ladder to keep MrP off his . Otherwise he would try when I was out to use it. He has requested some keepers to be put on his new shorts, so I will do that for him today. To keep the peace. He is worried about what could be causing his anemia and possible bleeding somewhere internally. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2020-11-01 09:28:00 |
| Kiwimade that is stunning...I must say I get exhausted from all your activity..lol sunnysue1 - 2020-11-01 10:22:00 |
| Thank you ladies :) I am quite chuffed with her. Trish Burr is the designer and you can buy her designs from her website. She has some freebies too (my bumblebee was a freebie). *waits for TM to delete my post as I'm 'advertising'. But credit where it's due, I like to credit any designs I didn't do myself* Nice to 'see' you again sunnysue. I like to get things done and once I start on something, keep going. It irritates MrK as he can't keep up with me anymore but I tell him, you knew this was me when you married me lol. Just having a break, I've worked through my list pretty quickly and have whizzed up some flakey pastry for a chicken pie. I made the filling from left over chicken after dinner last night and pastry doesn't take long to make in the food processor. It's quicker for me to make it than to go into town and buy it. Omg the oven was pretty bad, was long overdue for a clean. Look like some rain is coming, better get the washing in. The rags I used for the oven are in the wash, won't matter if they get caught in the rain. kiwimade64 - 2020-11-01 11:07:00 |
| morning ladies :) Well the afternoon rain threatened but never came. And we have fog this morning. It's great isn't it, popeye, to be eating your own veg. For some reason I think it always tastes better. We seem to have only one rabbit left and he's 'based' out in my garden so the vegies are finally being left to grow. The two dogs are having a field day chasing it. The Furry and Fluffy Ones have just gone nuts, racing each other around and around and around... you get the drift. Far too early for that much energy lol. Looking at them racing each other it's hard to believe the Fluffy One is 13 years old and our boy nine and a half. I'll have a visit to town this morning to buy the thread I need, a different brand but it's too close to Christmas for me to be fussy over brands. And MrK has some timber he wants me to take into the timber place for planing as his thicknesser is too small to do it. I started the elephant yesterday and he is going to look pretty good, I think. It's in a similar style to the giraffe. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-11-02 06:47:00 |
| Morning everyone I can imagine the furry and fluffy ones Kiwimade. Our Millie cat used to chase our two foxies around. Around and through the door way's of the lounge, kitchen and dining room. Millie was far sturdier on her feet when they hit the lino at speed. She got passed both of them when she chose our place to live, so we figured if she wasnt scared of them she had every right to stay lol. Im very uninspired at the mo, which is annoying me. I have things to do but just dont feel like doing any of it.. Im putting it down to all the stuff happening with MrP. Have a fab day and Huntlygirl thinking of you, Bec and the girls today popeye333 - 2020-11-02 09:07:00 |
| morning ladies :) It looks like there's going to be a very wet few days, perfect for guilt free embroidery. The elephant is coming along, it's fiddly as there are lots of little parts to stitch so lots of stop-starts. The Furry and Fluffy Ones have chased the rabbit already this morning. Our boy doesn't have a hope of catching it while the Fluffy One is here. But she does try and enjoys the running. She gets very little chance to run at her home. I use MrK's clamps occasionally too, popeye, and they are very useful. I have some small clamps I use for embroidery sometimes when I have a lot of fabric, the clamps hold the fabric away from my sewing. Clothes pegs work for that too. Time to crack on, as Jacinda would say. I have a few things to do today, nothing major. And I want to bake a slice to see what it's like. If we like it, I'll bake it as part of my contribution for Christmas Day. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-11-03 06:59:00 |
| Morning everyone I had a bit of a blah morning yesterday but am feeling better today. MrPs legs have flared up again so I need to go get more wound pads and tape etc.. I still say its the fatty cream they gave him at the hospital. It might be good for his skin but not his skin lol..They're are certainly not dry but too much for underneath I think. Will talk it over with the dr on Thursday. Im going to pop up to the library this morning.. between getting my last bag of books and now they shut for renovations and I havent had a book to read for over a week lol.. I could have got one from the oppy but Im preferring large print ones lol. Might go to the oppie while Im out too as a treat. Ive started sewing the belt loops on MrPs shorts, should get them done today and will run the over with the machine tomorrow. I enjoy hand sewing. Ohh do tell about the recipe Kiwimade, when you have made it. Ive been saving a few different ones on FB..Im going to sort out what I want to make and make sure I have all the ingredients before I have a baking session. My list is growing for my club day shopping, I really need to get less in the freezer in the next 4 weeks lol.. Hope everyone is well and safe. popeye333 - 2020-11-03 09:14:00 |
| morning ladies :) Another very wet day here by the looks of it. I need to tie up some roses so will try and get that done between the raindrops. They are looking good, my Dublin Bay is the best it has ever been. I stopped spraying (even for aphids) and have decided to let nature do her thing. Last summer the birds picked all the aphids off the plants and they were fine. And as for blackspot, I clean up all the dropped leaves and pick off the dying ones and make sure the roses are well fed and strong to fight it. Seems to work for me. The Fluffy One goes home tomorrow but back again for a night next week. Our boy will be happy he doesn't have to share us, after almost a week he is ready for her to go home. I made the slice but what a disaster. It fell apart and crumbled as I cut it (when cold) and was very very sweet. MrK admitted he didn't like it lol and I was drinking heaps of water afterwards. So we can cross that one off the 'list'. I'm not so sure it would do your bloods any good, popeye but if you still want the recipe, I'll pass it on to you. I must admit, having a wet day yesterday was perfect for me to sit and embroider. After the last few weeks of craziness, just to have a 'me' day was great. I've stitched the elephant's face and am starting on his ears. Am looking forward to the ears as I get to make holes lol with broderie anglais. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2020-11-04 07:07:00 |
| Morning everyone We had a few drops of rain yesterday but probably didnt even slide down a blade of grass lol. We have our inspection on Friday so I will make a better effort to tidy up today. MrP has been told to put his clothes away, something I always used to do but hes old enough to do it himself lol. I got one pair of shorts done yesterday, Ill run across them with the machine later. And then he will have a good pair to wear to the drs tomorrow. Have a fab day everyone, I dont know if we will be watching the US elections but no doubt will get snippets throughout the day popeye333 - 2020-11-04 09:03:00 |
| What a wild few weeks l am finally on my way home to Kerikeri tomorrow it has been a very hard time but my daughter and grandkids were so strong and the funeral was totally apt for James. We have had lots of family time but didn't get my wish of us all being together. I haven't had all my kids and grandkids together for 13 years. huntlygirl - 2020-11-04 09:42:00 |
| Could someone recommend me knitting/yarn shops in Tauranga besides Spotlight? I only know the Waikato ones and can order yarn online but like to browse the patterns. bodieblue - 2020-11-04 12:38:00 |
| Hi bodieblue :) I shop in Tauranga and use both the Bernina shop on Cameron Rd (it's part of the Harvey Norman furnishings shop) and Spotlight. They are the only places I know of there. kiwimade64 - 2020-11-04 15:22:00 |
| There is also a wool shop at the 11th ave shops. Behind Mc Donalds....and I didnt realise Bernina has wool sunnysue1 - 2020-11-04 15:47:00 |
| Huntlygirl I hope you had a nice spoil visit in Whangarei. Maybe the family will all come together at a later date, it happened with ours. I think wool shops are very rare on the ground these days popeye333 - 2020-11-04 18:22:00 |
| Thanks for the suggestions ... I will follow them up. I agree, wool shops are becoming a thing of the past, sadly. bodieblue - 2020-11-04 20:12:00 |
