Mosaic on those cats sounds like a great idea. I am crcheting dolls blankets for the shop and scarves for our donation at present. I find crochet a nice break, a different movement for my hands. I've also scaled down a cute hat pattern for 8 mth old grandson but have to wait till Saturday to try it on. I have even down some more cross-stitch this week.

Wow you girls are productive and creative Have not crocheted for awhile. It is a different action. Might do M some warm hats. She is growing so darn fast. I am finding it hard to fit in my stuff because I am busy with all the family stuff. Craftwise that is. Decided I need to buy some more tiles. Have not got enough of the colour I want for the large Mirror but will do the cats in glass so need one more box of that. Have to visit the tile shop and TM. hA HA.

I'm into polar fleece at present. Used to see so many lovely colours and patterns but went to Spotlight over the last couple of weeks and they have very little. Maybe it is the time of the year? Really enjoying doing the dressing gowns and though I might put a couple in the shop when the boys have theirs. I have a lovely wee jacket pattern as well but would have to teach myself how to do button holes on the new machine I bought last year!

I Had fun years ago Learning how to do buttonholes on my machine. Finally got it after a few bad starts. LOL. Went to the tile shop but no luck. Could not find any nice flannel or wyncette for the Bassinet sheets at Spotlight either. Maybe we are a month early. Saw some on TM but it is hard to know how old the material is on TM.

Good Morning girls It is pouring here. Wanted more rain but hey. Water everywhere. Sil is home again so I can get more of my stuff done. M is following her Daddy everywhere and I am just an extra. Ha ha. Seriously though it is lovely to watch her having fun with dad. Went to my favourite Tile shop and could not find anything I wanted unless I cut off an arm and a leg to pay for it. Lol. Bought some tiles from Funkyart in Christchurch. I got a lot of tiles there last year and they are great to deal with. Finished a blanket, no 1 girl started. Was up there in Orewa for tea and she handed it to me. Ha ha.

Her house is being painted inside. Being Pregnant with 7 weeks to go, working 3 days a week as a Midwife, having two teenagers to feed, drive to sports, etc and then everything in boxes and painting sheets everywhere would drive me mad. Thank heavens this new expensive paint does not smell bad. She is a real goer that girl.

Wasn't that the daughter that was really unwell last year?

grizzly4 - 2009-03-06 09:00:00
1608

Yes it is grizzly This is her second marriage and her husband is the only son and has never been married before. He is Indian and so she felt under pressure to have a child to carry on their family name. Thank heavens he is a boy. She will not have any more. It has been really hard as you can imagine at her age and with her husband working away half of the time. We were all so happy for them but I do worry about her.

Managed to finish another mosaic ball Did have fun with that. I just luv liquid nails. Tried to start a hat to finish the pram set last night with 4 needles. I gave up. I cannot get the hang of it. I need to watch someone doing it. So I am going to try with the circular needle again!!!!!. Somethings I can just do. Others take time for me to grasp the concept. Must be my age. Ha ha.

Whew, busy weekend! Made a list yesterday and crossed each job off as we went. Now the house is clean and so are the cars, the dressing gown is finished, end of month cheques are done for the members at the shop and the boys birthday presents are on layby. I found the 2 ur old hardest to buy for. Not a lot of toys are in the in between stage (between boys toys and babies toys especially for boys). It's like their clothes. Racks and racks of new seasons clothes for girls and not a lot of different things for boys. And please don't say "Well what can you do with with pants & tops". We are creative people

I find lists work too grizzly My car is on the top of today' list. Darn roadworks. I know what you are saying about boys clothes. I looked at all baby's things and Little Miss had many more colours and styles. I am going to knit him some really bright jerseys and cardis. His Mum likes brights. He has enough soft baby colours. My son came over to fix my computer and ended up taking the darn thing home to fix. Major job He said. Have not used it for 3 years and all the updates and stuff need sorting before he can transfer the info from this computer.

My thoughts exactly. Ha ha My son says my computer is like me old and temperamental. Ha ha. He is still working on it. My kids all have modern ones that are only 1 to 2 years old and mine is about 8 years so the software is ancient and he is trying to update it. Went with no 1 girl to her scan today. He looks fine and has hair. Lol. Then we went and had lunch. Came home then went for a Breastscan, now minding Little Miss who is supposedly asleep, calling out to me. Parents are shopping. She is a little ratbag. Playing Nana for sure.

Tried to grout another garden ball This morning with red. Don't laugh I bought it on TM last year. Ready made stuff. Grout is awful so only did a section to test. Will know by tomorrow morning if I need to toss it. Then I will be peeved. Got 4 containers of the grout. Different colours. Booties I did last night are huge. Pattern a bit awry. So will put them away until he is about 6 months and knit a smaller version to finish the set. Daughter bought Merino all in one for new bubs. It only stretches across not down so she was dissappointed and very small sizing. She got it on TM and was told generous sizing. I told her to send it back. Unless bubs is a premi it is useless.

No wonder we have not heard from you smartgirl You have so many listings. Phew that must keep you busy with all the other things. Grizzly you have some too. I will start once my ancient computer is fixed. Then watch out.

Ha ha makereal, did you see some of the crazy bidding on the knitting patterns. I got my self into trouble for a while. I had a wee layette listed so I thought I would start another the same. But when I went to get the first one I must have sold it and lost track of it.Then before the sold auction closed someone did a buy now on the second on. I then had two to knit, so it has been head down and bum up for me. They are both finished now and sent off. I must be a fool cause I have listed it again but this time I only have beanie and booties to finish. Thank God I knit fast.

Grizzly I got into a right muddle Hopefully I wont do that again. Just listed some more things that I have done over the summer months but no use listing them till now.
I am taking my wee girls swimming this morning. They love it.

Hell smartgirl I would have been confused too. Lucky you are a fast knitter. Tee Hee. When my daughter sold my washing machine, I could not even keep up with the questions for her. Lol. Mind you we had heaps on. My foot seems to be subsiding a bit. Yipee. Had to toss out that grout darn it. Took M R to Playgroup this morning and had a great time because I am the only Nana.

I have heaps of patterns to list later See what you mean smartgirl about the bidding. You must knit in your sleep girl. How is Hubby grizzly?

Had grandsons 4th birthday party at McDonalds last night. GReat fun!! He (and everyone else loved the dressing gown I made him and I have come away with orders!! Haha. To take the pressure off I told them all to buy the fleece themselves. Don't mind doing the sewing but not the pressure of choosing fabric they might like.

grizzly4 - 2009-03-13 08:59:00
1622

I love the grandkids parties No pressure and heaps of fun. Well it is nice that everyone loved his dressing gown. He will be needing it now. Little Miss has hers on at 7 in the morning. I have a ten dollar voucher from Spotlight valid until Sun, so will pop in ther on Sat. They sent it in the mail. I got some of those self threading needles. Right!!!! Took me longer to thread than the normal ones. Ha ha. Had my eldest daughter in stitches.

makereal, I have not seen them but I did buy a needle threader which was useless. I am using my dils computer from her work as mine has died again. Shoould be bac by Wednesday and I only have this for the weekend. Of course it is the time I have sold heaps so I will have to email them all and explain the delay in posting. I hate that.

I left my voucher at home this afternoon but will have to go back before it expires. I love the little ones parties. Just seeing their faces makes it all worth while. Haha, just checked my spelling in message above. Getting used to laptop.

I had 2 of the boys here last night till after 10! There Mum was helping her MUm decorate the venue for her Mum's wedding today. I can't wait to see all the kids in there finery. They both fell asleep on the couch in the end, I really wanted to tuck them into bed here. But Mr 4's actual birthday is today and hasn't had his Mum & Dad's present yet so they needed to go home.
Hubby is working hard in a gym programme to rebuild the muscles in his leg and he starts an entry course into real estate on MOnday for 2 weeks. Has already applied for one job in property management so hopefully it will all fall into place when he needs it to. Doesn't look as if his leg will cope with going back to trucking.

Phew! What a weekend! Beautiful, wedding on Saturday, the wee ones look ed gorgeous all dressed. Took some beautiful photos, thank goodness for digital cameras, I would have gone through rolls & rolls of film. Big week this week, hubby starts his course this today and daughter starts her new job.

Sounds as though you have had a busy but fun time grizzly. I wish your hubby well in his course. Property management is tiring. You are always running and although they gloss over it,the work is stressful. It can be rewarding with nice clients and Landlords but I hated going to court for evictions and retainment of bonds for debts, etc. I did it for 3 years and it wore me down. I had 400 Tenancies and one other agent to assist. It was far too much but the Company were too tight to hire anyone else. I had my car crashed into in an accident and after having 3 months off the job I was so relaxed I gave it up. Ha ha. I earn't good money whilst I did it though.

Wow yes there are heaps of things I have not done I really wanted to be an Anthropologist. Sigh. I still love to explore new places and dig around in any research facilities they have. That was a big plus when I worked in the Pacific they had stuff in their little libraries one could peruse or read. I have always wanted to go to Egypt and see the Pyramids, etc. I just might one day. It is frantic here at the mo. M and I went to playgroup this morning.

We took her for hearing tests yesterday Did not have to wait too long at the hospital. She is fine. Bought myself a new pair of shoes at Kumfs yesterday. Had to buy a half size bigger because of my sore foot. Was limpimg too badly and my ankle was so swollen. The shoes were expensive but what a dream to wear. I am so pleased with them. Going to the Air Show on Sat so wanted to be able to walk awhile. Son has place on base until they move into their new house in April. I can go and rest there and enjoy the show.

I had to look a long way down the list to find us this time. Everyone really busy. I'm trying a naturopath remedy for reflux that hopefully will stop the cough further down the line. Stopped all my medications yesterday. I'm not feeling the best but hopefully things will in prove. Ready to give anything a go, eh?

Hi girls Poor you grizzly with that darn cough. You are right sometimes you will give anything a go just to try and get rid of ailments. Sounds like a lovely wedding. We all went to the Airshow and had a wonderful family day. We had a roast dinner and snacked all day on goodies. When I got tired I went back to the house and sat on the front porch and watched with my earplugs in, of course. The grandchildren had a ball and were very tired and happy that night. Having my son there was such a bonus and I am so proud of him.

Smartgirl My computer is not ready yet so I know what you mean. My no 1 daughter just gave me her old computer yesterday so my son is cannibalizing 3 computers to give me wireless modem, more hardrive, etc. Says it will be ready at the weekend. Yipee. Then I will be able to keep up with things.

Air show sounds great I remember the days when Wigram used hold days like that. Hubby just bought the Warbirds Over Wanaka 2008 DVD which we watched last night. That was pretty cool too. I'm still off all meds! Coughing all the time but the runny honey seems to be working on the reflux. I'll keep it up for the usual 10 days they give me of antibiotics and see if there is any change. Really tired which doesn't help but it's only due to doing hours of typing for hubby's assignments while he is on this course. He is working so hard it is the least he can do. For a long time truckie to get his head around all the book work is pretty amazing but his typing would take him twice as long.

grizzly4 - 2009-03-24 08:30:00
1637

It is really hard to get your head around assignments. In my first year at uni as a mature student I struggled with those bl---dy things but after a few I got the formats right and I was away. It helped heaps that I had 2 kids at uni at the same time. Ha ha. Those Warbirds are magnificant aren't they? I love the Red Checkers. That Russian plane they had there was gigantic and people were waiting for ages to go inside for a look. They said there were about 50,000 paying spectators. Children under 10 were free and there were so many children then. Lovely cheap outing for a family.

sounds great makereal, I went to the tail end of one a few years ago when a wee toddler was run over by a backing car if I remember rightly. You had perfect weather for it. Its a lovely day again today. Hopefully I can sort this stupid computer out.

Such a bad night last night with reflux.None of the remedies worked b----r it. Taking my tablet this morning but will keep up with the honey as well for the throat & cough. So much guess work is driving me nuts, kind of like computers, eh, smartgirl.

Wow we are all having probs SIL spraypainted one side of my cottage roof late yesterday and this morning there was red paint dripping off the roof on to the path and my pots, etc. He was devastated and spent the morning cleaning up the mess. He is going to try again this arvo, early but when the sun is down. It was terrible to see it. What a bl----y shambles. Your hubby will laugh grizzly. My naughty sons did. I used to drink honey and garlic for my sore throat and then chew parsley.

makerealbany - 2009-03-25 11:52:00
1641

Helps with stress too Ha ha SIL has spray painted front wall of cottage and it looks great and is dry. That will cheer up the poor begger. I have been babysitting all week and am feeling quite tired. Must be getting old. lol. Want to finish a little wrap around for our little guy on the way. M needs more cardis. She has another growth spurt and is wearing some size 3. She is nearly 15 months. She only fits some things for 5 mins, SIGH. I have knitted things larger to start with.

Not too funny, I bet it looked like the scene of a mass murder. I think I may have sorted most of my computer out, so fingers crossed. We went to lollypops for play and lunch. My wee girls had lots of fun. great place.

Who am I to think I know better than the doctors??!!I've gone back on the pills, I feel completely defeated. Time to get on with other things in life, I think. It's kind of like losing weight, having to concentrate so much on what you eat, how much you eat, what you shouldn't eat. I'm past all that, too. Bought some lovely polar fleece on TM to make dressing gowns for the shop. And will be finishing a wee caramel and white fairisle jersey for the shop tonight.

Hows the paint going? Lovely, lovely weather down here, I am back in my summer tops for a wee while longer. Roll on the weekend so I can play in my garden. Haven't had much time for that luxury lately except for grabbing 6 big pumpkins to store in the garage. There's another 3-4 growing for a bit longer. Just don't want the frosts to start too early. Might find time this weekend to make our first lot of soup for the freezer. I tried Pumpkin, Kumara and orange soup years ago, must see if I can find a recipe and give that a go.

You are being creative grizzly SIL has painted the roof again and 2 walls. Looks good. I am picking pumkins as well. Still freezing tomatoes. Trying to sew up knitted garments and I have a pile of mending to do. Weeds are prolific but my foot is too darn sore to get into them. Went to see a locum as GP was away and she told me to use deepheat and yet my GP said no, just use ice. I ask you?. It drives me bats listening to their different opinions.

My older grandchildren loved Lollipops Smartgirl. We had a 3rd birthday party there. It was great. It did remind me of blood. the paint I mean. ha ha. Some of it has seeped into the back paddock and still looks gruesome. Yuk. I hope it rains soon.

Today is the day I treat myself to a new bedroom. I bought a lovely soft mocha colour comforter and new drapes during the cHristmas sales but decided to keep them for the changing seasons. Today is the day but first I am washing sheets and blankets for that new 'fresh' feel. Haha. Weather better hold, eh?

Sounds exciting grizzly I hope it makes you feel a lot better. You need something to kick that cough away. I have been culling my knitting patterns again this morning. I still have heaps to do. I dont know where they all come from. haha.

Really pleased with bedroom. 10 month old grandson arrived yesterday and got some great photos in the first 5 minutes he was there. Got 8 x 10's printed for his parents and us and frames and both houses had a new portrait up by the end of the day. Who needs a photographer. One of the photo's I took is going to be my next cross-stitch, too. I'm about 2/3's through the baby photo of 4 year old grandson. Wonderful project but long term, I'm afraid.
They will be the 'special' things I am going to leave my kids when I go.And "no" I'm not being morbid, just sentimental.

grizzly4 - 2009-03-29 10:15:00
1650

Nothing wrong with being sentimental I am. Ha ha. Thought I might try and spray a few weeds before they grab me and choke me. I have been buying glass for mosaic projects. I find it easier to cut glass into shapes rather than to cut tiles. Have a huge stash of tiles now but have used most of my glass. Got a movie booked in for later and another set to sew up. Lovely day here so hope it is the same for you girls.
