Good Morning Ladies The Sun is out!! Going to head off to town once I hang out the washing.I try and go to Taradale to do my shopping etc.It has everything one needs.Alot of shops in Napier main shopping centre has closed down over the last few months.

Well I now just need to sew the Poncho up and will see her mother on Monday. It was her Birthday this week. They send a photo of her sitting up on a bed in in lounge busy opening her gifts. It willbe one Birthday she will never forget. Pink Plastered Leg. Has two more weeks to go. Yes! she wanted the Pink when they asked what colour she would like.

Not sure what I am doing for the weekend at present. If the ground dries out will be out in the gardens and maybe to the local Framers Market Saturday morning. He has a good ranges of plants. Herbs, Vegies and Flower plants.

A -2 frost you can have it Kiwimade. I know what that was like. Just hope it turns out to be a sunny day for you.I also have a couple of roses to prune as well.
Thanks for sharing your photo. I like seeing your stitching Kiwimade.
The sun may be out, but still very cold here in the office, so off to make a coffee and sit outside in the sunny for a few mins.
Have a great day ladies and hope you all see some sun today.

morning ladies :) The ground yesterday had frost on it all day so it was freezing pruning roses. Hopefully I can get it all finished today, depends on the weather. I also have to empty the incinerator today and have more rubbish to burn. Edges need trimming and lawn mowed again so there is still plenty to do outside.

MrK has hurt his back so can't do much at the moment. It's frustrating for both of us (he makes the worst patient).

And if you need another reason to admire Dr Bloomfield, have a read of this :) What a sweetie that man is!

Morning everyone

Ohh what a lovely thing for Dr Bloomfield to do.. That will live in the little girls memory forever. I was a letter writer when I was younger too.. not so much these days tho.

Ohh dear Kiwimade, I have a not good patient too.. being outside will be a good distraction for you.

We got all the apples done yesterday and I made two apple strudels for MrP.. I had a wee slice off the one he ate last night, and it was the best I had made in ages.

I also got 7 squares done while the apples were cooking etc... So I only have 4 apricot to do, then I can start joining them up.

But that probably wont happen until Izzy has gone home tomorrow.. She is arriving around lunchtime with all her gear lol... So I will get some craft stuff out before she arrives.

Its overcast here today so maybe a degree warmer lol but not much lol.

Have a fab day everyone

Good Morning Ladies,
From Sunny Napier.Yes the sinny, the washing out and I'm off to Taradale to return some books and than out for lunch.
A friend in our street has a Coffee Bar down at Ahuriri and not doing to well so we off to surport him today. When Mike was not well. Mark droped off lovely hot roast dinners, he cooked. Cooked the roast meals three nights a week. I know sometimes he was home and would go down to the shop and bring our order to us.He would ring or call in to see if I needed anything.(still does) So it's payback time. Seven of us going to turn up for lunch.

I have finished a baby blanket for a new born baby girl.Three weeks early, her dad is our Lawn Mower Guy. He taken his younger brother on about a year ago he did the lawn's for a couple of weeks on his own for his big brother. Matt always calls out to see if I'll ok and if I need anything jobs I can't do. Next time he going to do some section clean up, The lawns get a rest. They don't need 2 weekly mows during the winter. Yes! Ladies he a keeper.
Have two other pieces of knitting on the go as well. Need to do some sewing to go with one piece of knitting. I'm doing. Had to unpick two pieces as I missed reading the pattern and left 7 rows off.l Could not work out why I could not sew it up.Lesson Taken!!!
Time to move and head out shortly for Lunch.

Enjoy yor little visitor Popeye. I'm sure she will keep you on your toes.Hope Mr P also enjoys having a visitor as welll.

Kiwiamde. sorry to hear Mr K has hurt his back and not been a good patien.I don't know of any man who a good patien LOL.
Enjoyed reading the message about the letter the young girl send to Dr Bloomfield. Thanks for sharing.
Have a great day everyone.

morning ladies :) Looks like we are in for a rough few days weather wise. I have six roses left to prune and I'm going to help my sister-in-law with weeding her garden (she has done so much for our family over the last few months, this is a 'thank you') so I need some fine days.

MrK's back is getting better although by the moans and groans you would think it wasn't. Gave him the wheat pack yesterday and that made a difference, he was moving a bit freer by the afternoon.

I might have a tutu with some embroidery later today, revisit some pieces I have thrown aside.

Happy crafting :)

Afternoon everyone

We had a lovely time with Miss Izzy.. She did some puzzles and colouring in while I got my last 4 squares done.. She is soo good at colouring in and she flew through the numbers and alphabet puzzles now.
Then we glittered some ice block sticks and she constructed a flat house which we popped into the hot water cupboard to dry.

She loved Nanas Frilly sausages lol.. sliced but all the way through and they curl when deepfried lol.. Ate all her tea, then she took our plates to the bench very carefully without being asked.
Slept through and woke me up at 8am like Id said we wake up.

We both loved having her here.. and it will happen again thats for sure. And her parents didnt know she can write her full name, Isobelle not just Izzy... and that she knows how to tell the time too lol

Once she was in bed I put 3 rows of the blanket together and will carry on once I get off here.

Its overcast today, like yesterday but a bit colder...

Ill now rest my hammies and sit for a while, they dont like getting down to the floor and up again 3 times in a day lol..

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Nothing like a massive storm to blow the cobwebs away, wow, it was a beauty last night. I'll have a look around the garden later to check how it survived but looking out the windows, it looks pretty good, considering.

The roses are all pruned so that's the last of the autum/winter pruning done and I can have a bit of a break now until spring. The daphne bush I moved is still alive even after two very heavy frosts so I think I can assume moving it was a success.

Not sure what the day is going to bring but it will involve crafting of some sort.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

We had alot of rain last night... and its still very dark at the mo.

MrP's Birthday today, and hes already saying hes 75 when he only turned 74 today. No doubt he will be in grumpy by lunchtime cos his brother seldom remembers his birthday, unless I get a chance to remind him so he rings. And I didnt think about doing that yesterday when I was out.

Ive finished joining up the blanket and Im loving it.. I think Ill do 3 rows of border on it.. white, green then white again. It will just complete it..

Im then going to lay out the grey, blue and burgundy red squares Ive had done for ages and see what I can come up with. Now is the time to be doing blankets before it gets too hot lol.

My cold is back which is annoying to say the least. I thought it had gone.

Stay warm and dry everyone.

This is a long shot - I am after a 50g ball of Perndale 8pl dk 'Chill' batch # 131412-58 its a teal color to finish a baby blanket . I purchased from skeinz who will make another batch but don't have a time frame so would really love to be able to source one more ball please :)
Pattern said 300 grams so purchased 6 balls - lesson learnt to always go for extra one !!!!
Thank you

morning ladies :) Sorry gracie, I don't have that one. A hint though, look for yardage rather than weight. This way you are a lot more accurate in how many balls you need. You can often look up the brand and see how much yardage there is too by looking closely at the bands. This has saved me quite a few times from running out.

What a wet miserable day. I managed to squeak in mowing the lawn yesterday and got washing half dry on the line. Saw the front coming in and rescued washing and closed up the garage just in time.

The house insulation people are coming on the 24th, can't wait for that to be done. The next thing to save for is either our hot water system and/or the DVS. Had the DVS when we lived in town and omg it made a huge difference. We are slowly getting there with the house.

time to move, coffee is finished.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Sorry I cant help either Gracie.. I seldom work in wool.

Tis a messy day here too Kiwimade, windy and raining, heavy at times.

Oh well thankfully I don't have to go anywhere.

Ta-da.. Sorry its not a clear photo. But I love the mirror effect.. not bad for 12 days.. Its hanging so it drops a little.. I tend to join them up quite tightly, but they do drop and soften a little.. Just big enough as a wrap, in a car seat or bassinette.

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1358484329.jpg

Ive gone back to one I did alot of squares for and reworked the layout, and I had to do 6 more squares.. I did two last night and will do the others today. and start joining them up. It will be a December birthday lol.. yeah a blanket in summer lol

Had a major flare up of the excma on my outer wrists, quite Welty and lumpy so I wasnt impressed.

MrP is still in bed, and I dont blame him lol.... Today my stepfather would be 91, I wish he was still here. He was one of the best men I knew / know.

Have a fab day everyone.. Stay home put your feet up and craft Lol

morning ladies :) Lovely work, popeye. Baby will be nice and snuggly with that.

It's definitely winter lol. It's rained heavily overnight and the day looks pretty much the same, more rain. The Furry One dashed outside, did his business and raced back in so it must be cold.

We were going to help my sister-in-law with her garden today but have postponed it until next week. If the weather clears enough I'll run the hoe through the garden to loosen those baby weeds.

MrK's back is on the mend but he is slowing down a lot now and I seem to be doing more and more. That's Ok, it comes with the territory.

It will be a guilt-free day of crafting today thanks to the weather.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Yep I think we are def in winter now... Funny re the Furry one Kiwimade. Missy usually goes down into the garage while Im cooking tea, I open the door at the end of the hall. And tell her to come and tell me when she is finished, so I can shut the door again, cos alot of cold comes from the garage.
Well last night she last no more than 5 minutes lol.... she comes up and meows very loudly and she followed me back down to shut the door lol..

Its a pretty little blanket, I like trying to find different pattern ways with colours.
Ive done the extra 6 squares I needed for the next blanket, so might start joining them up today.

I fully understand the having to do everything now Kiwimade.. If you ever get frustrated and want to sound off, Pm me on FB... I know fully what its like.

Best get a few things done on here and then I can crochet

Have a fab day all

Good Morning Ladies! The sun out and so is the wind, Have hang washing up in the shed today. Off out to lunch today at Ahuriri, friend has a cafe and things are slow since they reopened. I am off to surport them. There some lovely shops in area as well. Also get to see the port and water, been along time since I have been there.

I know the feeling Kiwimade about having to do more of the jobs around the place. I had to take on alot of the jobs during the last three years when hubby started going down hill. Closed the company down that was a hardest thing I had to do. I got help from people we got to know over years been in bussiness . Still get the odd one call in to see if I'm ok or need anything done.
Have a couple knitting projects on go at present that need to be finished by the weekend.
Take care of your self ladies from someone who been there and back. My door is open if you need to talk, just message me.

morning ladies :) Welcome 9291, come and hang with us. You have done some lovely knitting :)

I have to go to Cambridge this morning so might pop into their garden center while there. Suns out this morning too which is a bonus.

Sunflowers, I've been to Ahuriri and loved it. MrK and I walked all the way round the water front and had breakfast there a few years ago. Was a really pretty spot and the sunrise was amazing.

I have family in Melbourne so must get in touch with them as they have gone back into lockdown. We are so very lucky here.

Time to move, suns out and I want to make the most of the day.

I joined two rows completely yesterday.. The dark blue is very hard to see at night, but I will stick with it.

I have very little patience with myself today, lol.. already calling myself everything under the sun... probably cos I don't feel flash and I don't want to go shopping lol..

Beautiful sunshine up here in Kerikeri l have progressed to a long sleeved t-shirt l wore a light jacket to go out yesterday and it was to hot. I am so glad to be out of the Waikato fog and cold. This is my second winter here and in that time l have only had a heater on once for 15 mins when l came home cold after sitting while missy was at taekwondo. Double glazing is brilliant no wiping condensation. We are off to catch the pony to get his hooves clipped he was naughty last time and bit Violet she has a pocket full of treats.

Good Morning Ladies. Well went out to Ahuriri for lunch a friend joined me and it was good to catchup with the owner and staff. Yes! It was windy and after walking around the shops the rain came . So we hoped on the bus and went out to Bay View and back into town. From Bay View we could see the Snow on ranges. Weaves where sure hitting shore as we returned to town.
Yes Kiwimade it is a lovely walk around to Ahururi on a fine day.
Did a couple of jobs in town and headed home, put match to fire and knited in evening.
Today the sun out along with a strong wind, hang washing in shed or else I would be looking for my washing today.
Yes, huntlygirl Double Glazing is brilliant, we had it in our house in West Auckland. When we lived in England we made share every place had Double Glazing. Could do with here today.

Yes Kiwimade, Melbourne is in lockdown again, was talking to my friend this morning about it. She has a daughter and family living in Melbourne. Just hope they are ok.
Popeye , be kind to yourself today and do something you enjoy. There is always another day.
Take Care everyone

Good morning everyone

A chilly one, I have conceded, and I will bring the heater out later.

Shopping went well, I didnt get wet or blown apart. I didnt go to the chemist cos I brought ice blocks,, yeah crazy in winter, but its MrPs dessert, so came straight home.
Have to go and do my INR this morning so will pick up my meds while Im out.

I didnt get any done on the blanket either, but I drew the pattern out properly so I can glance at it easy.. cos I wanted to make sure I put the squares in the gaps in the photos, in the right place.

So once I get home Im going to put a hotty on my back and sit and join rows.. cos tomorrow I will be in the freezers trying to pack them down again as best as I can, I was given 24 x 500 gram bags of beans which are well packed in but I want to move them from the upright to one of the chest freezers.. Crazy in the cold but I can thaw the fingers out in the laundry tub lol.
We got 6.9 kilos of granny smiths again yesterday, making room for them to freeze in the containers before I bag it, is important too... Love me apples on weetbix lol

So have a fab day everyone

Crafting later today but I think we might get out and about a bit for a while.

Morning ladies, from a very grey and very cold "winterless north" - whoever called it that obviously didn't live here!

Had planned to go shopping yesterday in Kerikeri but as I stepped out of the shower my phone rang and it was a friend who was at the front door - have to get new batteries today for my doorbell - so she stayed for a chat and coffee and by the time she left it was a bit late to go to Keri so I will go shortly.

It was the first time I've seen her since lockdown so we had a lot to catch up on.

I did some knitting yesterday and lit the fire in the afternoon because it was so flipping cold, the heat pump is good but when it's really cold I prefer the fire, and so does puss, she can't get close enough to it.

My son sent me a photo yesterday of his dopey dog. When I made the second bed for the dog the cat commandeered the first bed I had made, so I made two for the cat, and the dog immediately sprawled on one of them, even though he's miles too big and half of him was on the floor not the bed. Yesterday son sent me a pic of the dog and he's half on his bed and half on the cats bed. I said his animals are nuts!

Now I suppose I should make one for my cat!

Right, I'd better get moving if I'm going shopping.

Have a super day everyone and stay warm.

It's a foggy start to the day so a good reason to be indoors. I need to spray some moss soon, I don't want MrK to go for a skate on it. Another cruisey day for me I think, housework and gardens all done and we don't have to go anywhere today. Might do some sewing and have a 'me' day.

Happy crafting :)

morning ladies :) Another foggy start to the day, a real pea souper too.

The Furry One has all the good warm spots in the house figured out and he is so funny when he comes inside after being out in the cold and races round madly to warm up. Gotta love our animals <3

Another quiet day, July is the month where I don't have to be in the garden as much and I just leave it to do it's thing. The primulas are flowering though and there is new growth where I have pruned the roses. So things are happening.

I'm stitching the companion piece to the cat I stitched earlier, about my third attempt I think, but am much happier with it. Am working my way through the WIP pile and am determined they won't beat me. I bought an A3 sized artists book a while ago and am putting all my own designs in it. Some I'm really proud of but others are just rubbish lol but it's a record of what I've done including materials and cotton colours. Then if it comes to repairs or redoing the pattern, I have it all. Was handy when it came to the second cushion cover as there was a year in between stitching them both and I would never have remembered what colours I used.

Coffee is finished, will put the washing machine on and make a start on the ironing.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone

Had a huge day yesterday.. Got the freezers done, the hands got so cold they started burning so were warmer than MrPs when I finished lol.
Did a load of dishes in the dishwasher and washed all the containers I needed for the apples. In the last two apple sessions we have done 14 kgs of them.. 30 pounds lol... Made 4 apple strudels and cooked a roast pork for tea.
Hence why I am late today lol.. I took a sleeping pill, well half, I couldn't handle a full one.. And then pain meds at 7am and MIssy woke me at 9am.

Kiwimade you can tell we are both Taureans, I have a book with my blanket designs in lol.... Its good to keep a record..

I will be crocheting today, after Ive picked up Rolys mess.. For a little wee bird he makes a heck of a mess even with a cage bag.

I threw a few odd buns etc out yesterday so we had heaps or birds visiting.. Those waxeyes aren't scared of the mynas that's for sure lol

Grey here but it will rain.. sorry Kiwimade

I had another right off of a day yesterday. Too many late nights, so I did get an extra hour last night

I did get two rows joined and joined with the others,, so still making progress. And I'm liking how its turning out.

Ohhh Muller has resigned... not strong enough lol.. I wonder if Judith Collins will step up.

I will go back to my cardy when Ive finished the blanket, but I think Ill have to make plans for some other things, so I can have a break from the stocking stitch too.
Ive saved a few different crochet designs on FB to have a tu-tu with.

Have a wonderful day everyone

Good morning ladies, oh I didn't know Muller had resigned. That must be one of the shortest stints as leader of the opposition, on record. I know we had a very brief PM years ago when one of them suddenly resigned. Have to rack my brain (or ask Aunty Google) to remember who it was. Might have been when Lange resigned and Palmer took over briefly but I could be wrong - I remember I was working at Fletcher Challenge at the time and my boss used to commute between Auckland and Seattle - yes, Seattle!

I really must start doing a bit more in the garden, but I just can't rustle up any enthusiasm at the moment. Hoping I will find some soon.

I need to put in a claim with NZ Post. One of my packages I sent two weeks ago hasn't arrived. Grrrr!

Right, I will do that now. I believe I can do it online. Will check.

Have an awesome day everyone. kiwimade - it's nice and sunny here!

morning ladies :) Ohhh shush, kuaka lol, I'm jealous of your sunshine! Raining here again, sigh. :P I can't imagine a work commute between Auckland and Seattle, I'm thinking of the jet lag!

We had the house insulation people phone last evening and they will be arriving at 8.30am next Friday :) Will be great to have that done.

Yesterday the Furry One had a seizure so it was off to the vet for him. He hasn't had one for a while so it came out of the blue. We've decided with our vet to keep a record of any more and if there is a pattern we will have to increase his epilepsy meds. He's nine and a half so getting 'up there' in age so we have been expecting a dosage change.

Happy crafting :)

I reckon Kuaka has the rain now Kiwimade, its meant to be heading south, from the top lol.

We notice the difference with the insulation between the last place and here, thats for sure.

Ohh not good re the Furry one. I hope an increase will help... Hes still far to young to be going anywhere. I still miss having dogs even tho its 16 years since we had them.

Friday night I brought a new jug from here.. It arrived yesterday and I love it.. Its one you put on the element and it whistles.. I am very hard of hearing but I could probably hear it outside without any trouble.. Takes about 9-10 minutes from cold for around 2 litres. So while I'm getting everything else done for breakfast for three its boiling away... Very pleased and the fact thats its a Pretty red is a bonus lol.

I was awake every hour last night, goodness knows why.. So today will be a slow one... I hope to get some of the blanket done today.. now its all set up nicely.

What a day yesterday was, Tod Muller gone and a new leader on the same day.Now we will have to watch this space. LOL

I have a red jug as well Popeye and it heats water for my hot water bottles and drink at night. It sit's on fire box inthe evenings most nights in the winter.

Have baby knitting given to me by a friend and asked would I sew it up. The last knitting her mother did before pasting on in March. Not to sure about sewing it up,it was one job I gave my Mum. I just may do it for her.

Sunflowers my old jug and toaster are both red, but not pretty shiny like the new one.

Ive cleared out the fridge this morning, havent washed it as yet. But its funny cos as much as I like my freezers full, I like a bit of space in the fridge lol.

Im thinking of swapping the placing of the drink tray, with the coffee sugar etc on, to be closer to the hob where the jug now sits... Will see if that "works" or whether I put it all back again lol.

morning ladies :) The Furry One was very quiet yesterday, typical behaviour after a seizure for him (or a human) and slept a lot of the day. It really takes a lot out of him. He seems a bit perkier this morning, yep, lol, there goes the growl as a strange car came up our road lol.

We had a pretty wild storm last night and it doesn't seem to have eased off any this morning. Am getting a bit of cabin fever. My kobo has died so I might pop into town and take it in for recycling along with an old tablet we have and visit the library while there. Looks like I'll be treating myself to a new kobo at some stage, I didn't realise how much I would miss it. I could download the kobo app but it takes a fair bit of space on my limited tablet.

I stitched another bit of the cat, it takes forever with the padded satin stitch, laid stitch, and then back stitching but I am very happy with what I've done so far. Practice makes perfect I guess.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
Sure has been wild and wooly.. MrP thinks the recycle bin has blown over, will check it when we go out.. If it has Im awfully pleased I didnt put the crate load that is in the kitchen down there last night lol.
er
Poor Furry one, it takes a toll on him, Im sure he will be happy just to snuggle and spend time with his Hoomins lol.

Ohh I do like my kitchen laid out this way.. So it will stay this way. Oddly its how I thought it should be right from the start. And loving the new kettle. MrP reckons the water is hotter than from the old jug..lol.

I got two rows joined last night, and half joined onto the main piece.. Right in the middle of it now. Im waiting to hear a friends fave colours to plan another blanket. Ive enlisted her daughter to find out her mums fave colours.. Shes promised to be sneaky about it lol.

Shopping today so Ill get a few things done on here and get moving..

Have a fab day everyone

Afternoon ladies, well on the spur of the moment "we" - some friends and myself - decided to meet for lunch at midday and I've just got home, with all good intentions of finally doing some gardening and planting my plants that have been languishing ever since I bought them, but again, I can't rustle up the enthusiasm. Maybe tomorrow morning would be a better time than this afternoon.

I'm going out this evening to a woodcarving course. It's only for an hour and a half and I can't imagine what we can achieve in that short time, but the course blurb says we will produce something we can take home. I guess tonight I will find out.

It's still sunny here and not very cold. We did have heavy rain this morning but it has cleared into a lovely day, almost feels like spring but I'm sure we have more cold weather to come.

Sorry to hear about the furry one kiwimade. It's always worrying when our little furry friends are poorly, and we feel so helpless. Hope he rests well and recovers quickly.

Right, the dishwasher needs unloading. Definitely think I will leave the gardening till tomorrow.

Happy crafting everyone.

Afternoon Ladies, The weather is abite of a mixed bag overcast, dark clouds, and sunshine for an about an hour no rain.
I got in and sorted out fabric and reboxed it. Now it be easy to go to it.Next will be my yarn, fleeces to dye and some I have for felting and dyes etc. That will be a long day.
Have new steps put in yesterday, these should last a few years.
Just need the ground to dry out so we can get a start on gardens etc The water does not hang around much as it drains away. Just lots of stones as we near a old river bed.
Have sort out some baby knitting to past on for it to be sewn up. I don't like sewing up knitting. A friend gave me a bag of 4ply wool as well.My friend does a lot of cross stitch work,so give her some cottons. She not a knitter. She lost her mother at the start of March and been having a cleanup.
Sorry to hear you have to replace your kobo.Kiwimade There some good ones around at present price wise. Yes! it's good to be able to do stitching, sewing etc with weather you been having.
Still waiting for my new fireplace which I can slow cook food on, boil water etc.etc.Everyone around me has gone for heat pumps which my house is not build for heat pumps. When it was first build it had underfloor heating which could have been oil heaters. The house is about 50 years old.
Yes Popeye I love my red jug as well. Handy when we have power cuts. Time to move and think about Dinner tonight. Still don't like cooking for myself. Go and look around to see what I feel like.
Take Care and stay warm ladies.

morning ladies :) Phew, the storm seems to have passed, finally. It's been a rough few days here with 100kph winds.

We replaced steps a couple of years ago with a ramp, sunflowers. Made such a difference even for me. Our old steps were rickety and the space between them too high. You will feel a lot safer with them that's for sure.

How did your woodcarving class go, kuaka? What a neat thing to try your hand at.

The Furry One shot outside in the wee hours to chase something he heard so I'll have a look around the garden shortly to see what it could have been. Hopefully whatever it was he chased off.

I found a brand new Kobo here on TM for half the price so am very happy with that.

Didn't do much stitching yesterday as I had my nose in a book, love it when you find a good one and can't put it down.

Housework today, I think a friend is popping in as well at some stage.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
We still have a little wind but the sun is out again.

Woodcarving would be cool, theres a wood turners group here. They have a sale once a year just before christmas which is a good idea. I have a pastry pie press that a friend got me one year, somewhere lol.. Still packed Im sure lol.
Sounds like the furry one is back on the ball.. Missy has just been sick, been a little glutton..
Im possibly babysitting today, but it may not be the full 5, wont know till I get a message.. Ill take my gear with me if I do tho.

Ive got 6 rows joined now. So very pleased with the progress. Not colours I would choose for myself, but its not for me lol...

I would love to learn flax weaving, or upholstery.. But I suspect my fingers wouldnt handle it.. I wish I had learnt when I was younger.. When I see them repurposing padded furniture etc I just want to jump in and learn.

Edit to say, perhaps not younger,, but before I ruined my fingers on the elasticator at the jean factory. .lol

Have a fab day everyone

Afternoon Ladies, from a cold wet day here in Hawkes Bay. Have washing hanging out in the shed, need check it and bring it in , put clothes on horse overnight.
Have been cleaning out my plastic bins of wool and repacking it. Have some 3 and 4 ply which will be rehomed to a group who knit for babies and pre school kids.
Cut out 4 blankets from wool blankets and will blanket stitched around them. The leftovers will be made into scarves . The things you do when it rains by Sunday it be 6 days. Yes I have been out as well.

Just shows you your dog got good hearing and checks what going on for you Kiwimade. I'm not a dog person, saying that my father had 5-6 dogs when I was growing up at home as he was a stock agent and was bringing the cattle into the saleyards for the weekly stock sales.

Everyone else take care and enjoy your day. Are you getting much rain up your way Kuaka?
I need to pop out to the Pharmacy,
.so on goes my wet weather gear as I will walk, only 10-15 mins walk and I will get some fresh air along the way.

In joy the rest of your day everyone.

Afternoon ladies, from a very wet and wild winterless north. We've had torrential rain (coming down like stair rods as my friend would say!), we had wind, we've had thunder and lightning, and at the moment it's just very very grey and bleak.

I've had the heat pump going all morning and it hasn't really seemed cold but about an hour ago the temperature did a sudden dip so I've lit the fire, and now puss is curled up as close as she can get to it without going up in smoke.

I really enjoyed the wood carving class last night. Never done it before, but I think it's something I could get to do more of and really get involved. Time just flew.

Here's a pic of my very first effort - it's not perfect but I was quite pleased with myself:

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1366242878.jpg

Time to put my feet up and finish the dragon I'm working on. I knew I should have done the gardening yesterday! Oh well, maybe tomorrow or when it stops raining.

Have a super day everyone.

I went to get my groceries in Kerikeri and came home 30 minutes later to find the stream that is piped under the driveway had flooded so l very gingerly drive thru and found the stream is now level with my lawn usually l hear it thru the trees but can't see it. Sky keeps dropping out so it will be YouTube tonight probably.

morning ladies :) Wow, very cool kuaka! Sounds like you have found a new craft to enjoy.

I hope you are ok this morning, huntlygirl. The rain we have had has been huge and there has been lots of flooding.

Yep, sunflowers, nothing escapes our boy. He hears and sees all lol. I don't think we could live rurally wthout a dog, he's our doorbell. When I'm in the garden he positions himself between me and the gate, watching in case someone comes. He knows my back is turned and can't see it so he's my 'eyes'. We never trained him to do that, he just did it. Such a loyal dog, would easily have another Jack Russell again.

I thought I had finished building the path in my garden five years ago... noooo.... MrK wants the bricks I used to build another raised garden. He offered (olive branch here) to do the path and had very thoughtfully (not!) put aside some concrete pieces for him (meaning me eventually) to use instead. This was a year ago and I am still waiting. So now the weather is clearing up, I'll lift the bricks and put down the concrete pieces as I am sick of waiting for it to be done. It's a good 'winter' garden job to do before the summer heat kicks in and spring brings on my hayfever.

I had better finish the cat embroidery as the pattern I ironed onto the fabric is fading already. Need to unpick a bit as a curve isn't right and looks awful in satin stitch, looks more like an angle than a curve.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone
Love the carving Kuaka.. I dont know why I thought wood turning lol... Your piece reminds me of when we did carving of floor tiles and then made prints with ink on them at school. I enjoyed doing that and working with proper carving tools that mum got for us to use at home.

Huntlygirl I hope your safe there, and that your car is on higher ground. We have had it very light compaired to other regions.

Yep Kiwimade we always had dogs for my ears, which is why I miss them so much. They know when they have a job to do and terriers and german shepherds were always the best. Mind you the boxers we had were good too.
I didnt craft yesterday, the day just seemed to fritter away.. I will be today tho. Ever since my surgery 2 years ago Ive had trouble with the nerve where they put the epidural in.. usually only when I cough and sneeze which is apparently quite common, but this morning it has pinched and nasty.. I tried some stretches to try and undo it.. Will try again when Im done on here.. But also a little scared incase it pinches' worse and wont undo, so I will be gentle.

So I hope to get at least 2 rows joined and attached... fingers crossed lol.

Have a fab day all

Morning ladies, well I survived the rain, and the wind, thought it was all done, but woke this morning at 6 to the sound of rain pounding on the roof. Good grief. I think we can say the water restrictions can be lifted now!

For a while we were completely cut off from the rest of the country, with the only two roads into town being closed at some point or other, now we have a massive slip just a couple of km south of me on the only road into town from the south. I believe the junction between here and Kerikeri has re-opened - it was flooded yesterday but as far as I know the road south through Moerewa is still closed, or at least it was a couple of hours ago.

There is a launch sunk out the front of Russell and I haven't seen the car ferry in action yet today. They stop running when the volume of water pouring down the harbour makes it unsafe for them to dock on the Russell side of the harbour. The sea looks like mud but the sky is still very grey so I wouldn't be surprised if we have yet more rain to come. I'm so pleased I no longer own the boat!

Going into town shortly with a couple of friends to have a nosey at the Red Cross fundraising stall which this year is being held in the hall. Knowing my friends we will possibly stay in town for coffee or lunch.

As for gardening, I think at the moment I'd be worried that if I ventured outside in my Wellies that I would just sink into the ground and be stuck there - but this afternoon I might just have to check it and see if I can shove in a couple of plants that desperately need planting. At least I won't need to water them in.

Keep safe and dry everyone.

Edited to add - I've just seen one car ferry going across from Russell to Opua but it looks to be going much slower than normal.

morning ladies :) I was thinking of you when we saw all the flooding on the news, kuaka, and thought, thank goodness the boat is gone! You definitely dodged a bullet there.

Last evening a young woman's car broke down outside our home (we get this every so often) so we invited her in until her boyfriend came to the rescue. Her car is still there today and we have her key as MrK will call the local mechanic tomorrow for her. We swapped phone numbers just in case.

This morning I have some hellebores to move. I was rebuilding the path, well trying too, but the tree has grown quite a bit and has huge roots I had to work around so I flagged it. Decided I didn't need it anyway lol. So a quick shuffle round in the garden, buy a couple of azaleas to plant towards the back and Bob's your uncle. A lady from our local gardening group is coming to take the hellebores for her garden. MrK got the chainsaw out yesterday and pruned another tree back quite heavily (it was reaching for the power lines) and I asked him to take some old gnarly bits off an old rose bush. It was just too stubborn for the handsaw. So the rose now has an odd shape but I don't think I was going to get many more years out of it anyway. Will see how it copes over spring/summer.

I did a bit of stitching yesterday, will do some more later today all going to plan.

happy crafting :)

Good morning everyone

I too was thinking about you and not having the boat Kuaka. And My brother lives up there, Russel I think so Ill check in with them today and see how they went.. They were tripping around in a Caravan, but had to get a flat when my SIL broke her hip. Not sure how they are living now.

I think we certainly missed most of the weather really.

Had a nice relaxing day yesterday, catching up on some tv and Ive got two rows joined as one, and will add that to the main piece later. Still trying to find out a friends fave colours, if she doesnt mention anything she will end up with green and gold lol.. Yep shes an Aussie lol.

A friends dad passed away on Friday night, so she let me know and then she rang again yesterday for a longer Chat. Shes hanging in there, but I think at the funeral its all going to hit her. Cos she hasnt really had time to grieve for her Mum who died 9 months ago. Cos she ended up being his carer straight away. Shes tough but she is so tired, so Im going to text a joint friend today who I know will go to the funeral to ask that she keeps a special eye of our friend.

Have a fab day everyone
