Morning everyone

What a lovely cooler night we had last night. I still had both fans on low, but enjoyed the slight chill. Suny again but we have a nice cooler southerly.

I got heaps done yesterday, so am pleased with my new routines... Only I never wanted to be so predicatable, my mother was like that and Im not fond of it.. but for now it works lol.

Got a fair bit done on my sloth, was slowed by a long chat with my sister in law. She is crafty like us. Only she has to have a pattern, wether it being for sewin, knitting crochet etc.. She doesnt feel confident enough to " Make something up". I keep telling her Im sure she could knit socks in her sleep lol. She was cutting onions etc for a relish while we talked lol.
I have done the main body of another teatowel, will put a boarder around it tonight.

I hope everyone has an awesome day.. Kuaka I hope you are enjoying your trip.

Hi all. Thanks to Kiwimade for loading the page on FB.Definitely found it easier, Also thanks for friending me.
Had a day yesterday of locating my stash. Like Popeye I hadnt bothered with it for the last 4 years when we moved into a Retirement Village. Found a granny square blanket 1/2 made. it is worked with the cakes of yarn. Still have 3 more cakes to go.Also knitting , a back of jersey I started for the youngest great grandson certainly wont fit him as he has just turned 5. plus 2 cross stitches almost finished. Feel really ashamed of my self.

Nothing to feel ashamed of, Trish. We all go through times where our crafting is put aside for life things. They can still be finished and the jersey donated to charity.

Johvri... If you dont like it, you know what to do...

Good Morning everyone

I see there has been a reprieve till March 3rd... Ive kinda lost alot of interest in the general board for the last couple of weeks, but I am looking forward to see who goes crazy and goes for crashing and burning and getting banned lol..

I finished the white tea towel and it looks too nice to be a tea towel lol... Started another last night after diving part balls. Cos its the thinner stuff I got, so this one will be a mix for using up part balls etc. The stuff I got from Hobbi is the thinner stuff but I wont waste it. but when I need more Ill order from spotlight or go there next time we have an appointment up that way.

The Painting is coming along nicely, its quite a dark one..

Im going to make a eye cover for me to wear at night time. I use a hat in the winter but need something for when its warm. I just tend to sleep better..

Have a fab day everyone

Dear Ladies - Sorry to learn that this thread is coming to an end. I read it every day - it has kept me going as I can't do craft work myself any longer ( only in very short bursts). As I don't belong to Facebook I won't be able to follow you any more. Best wishes in all your endeavours - I'll miss seeing all your lovely work. I've been part of this thread for about 5 or 6 years (maybe longer?) but had to drop out when illness overtook a couple of years ago - anyway all the best to you all - Love Diane

morning ladies :) buggar tinybaldone, what a shame. Could you open one, change the settings to private and not invite anyone, then join us? You don't even have to use your real name for it :) *thinking sneakily* I wish you well for your future if you decide not to come over.

I didn't see where they said there was a reprieve, wonder why they decided that. Oh well, no biggie.

I need to go into town for a new hose coupling, ours is leaking like a sieve and MrK who usually has spare bits and bobs, doesn't in this case.

I've put the embroidery of the Furry One on hold for now as doing the same stitch over and over is driving me batty. I will go back to it eventually as I hate having unfinished projects. I've started making a quilted bag for my light box as it seems very fragile to me and the edges are quite sharp. So far I have ironed on the design and have stitched two flowers... go me lol. There will be a lot of raised stitches and some I haven't done before so a good excuse to learn something new.

Happy crafting :)

morning ladies :) I have a few plants I bought at Mitre10 yesterday to plant, was too hot to plant them by the time I got home and I had yin yoga in the evening. So it gets done shortly.

I've sprayed the weeds where the new lawn is going (in front of the new garden) so next week we will be preparing the ground for lawn. The sparrows will hate us lol as they have made lots of dust bowl holes. All we see is a puff of soil in the air as the flap about in the dirt now. They have done a great job breaking up all the soil clods for us but it is almost time to smooth it all out and seed.

Crafting later today when it gets too hot to be outside.

Happy crafting :)

Sparrows aren good for that eh Kiwimade.. Fun to watch too

Its going to be another warm one today I think..

We are running late, sat chatting after I did our insulins lol.. mind you its not like we have anything important to do.

Working on my next tea towel, so far its green, white and a crimson colour. Just using up part balls left from other ones. And any small bits will become a dishcloth. Ill waste very little lol.

Have to pop up the road this morning, but Ill get some bits done on here first.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning everyone
Started out cloudy but its mostly gone.. hence why we are up early. its going to be a stinker. I had both fans on medium overnight.

Im expecting a parcel from Tupperware early this afternoon so need to get the shopping done earlier than normal.

I planned another baking session for Sunday, last night. I love baking for the kids, this time we are swapping some baking for the use of the carpet cleaner.. so a goood trade as we have a few spots we want to get rid of.

Have 3 rows and a border to do on the latest tea towel, that will make 5 so far.

Have a fab day everyone. Stay Hydrated and have fun

morning ladies :) Our daughter and the grandkids arrive tomorrow so I had better put my sewing machine away so the bedroom can be used as a bedroom. It's overcast this morning and the mozzies are loving it. Those plug in insect repellents seem to do the trick though.

MrK is pruning the plum trees and we have almost finished the grapes. Been giving away quite a bit of fruit and veg this summer which is always nice to do.

Will craft this afternoon after I have been into town, need to buy jelly lol. Seems to be my go-to dessert for the grandies as our grandson is lactose intolerant.

Happy crafting :)

Morning Ladies, Popeye, could you please pop a pic up of your tea towels? I would love to have a go at one as the dishcloths work brilliantly :) Even if the pic is on the fb page :) Oh and my diamond painting has arrived, im about a 1/3 of the way through it - had a sick child at home yesterday so inbetween washing loads I got heaps done lol

Last night I read a recipe using orange jelly crystals instead of sugar, possibly in Muffins cos I was looking in different books. I make a fruit loaf with orange jelly too.. handy things and I think Most people like them. Although I never liked hospital jellies when I was a kid lol.

The courier has just been, got two of my replacements, the other two are on back order.

I got some Banana chips from Pak in Save this morning cos they were on specialand I havent had them in sooo long.. Its a pity that if you tasted them with your eyes closed you cant even tell that they are bananas.. Very dissappointing.

morning ladies :) Just had a phone call from our daughter, they are on their way so will be here around lunchtime. Better put my scissors and stuff away for now.

We are very proud parents, our daughter's book is being published on the 3rd March :D :D :D Two years of hard work done. She's publishing it through Amazon (*waits for TM to growl at this*) and I know there are people who say self publishing isn't 'really' publishing, well tough. If only you knew the mammoth effort it takes to write and put yourself out there. She also has total control this way with how the book is marketed and 100% of the sales go to her.

Better get moving, got grandies coming :D

Happy crafting

I dont know what sort of targets are good or Bad, But Izzy was counting backwards from 10 after only 9 days at school.. To me thats doing pretty darn good.

I have to nip up and do my bloods and post a parcel this morning then I think Ill paint.. On a bit of a go slow at the mo.

I finished the multicoloured tea towel last night.. and did a couple of dishclothes with left overs from the left overs lol.. Just have some ends to do on the dish clothes. Ive made them nice and thick.

Afternoon everyone

I was up early to bake again this morning... And discovered we had a good fog. Was a nice tempt to bake tho once I opened both the doors.
Made coconut biscuits, Vanilla Biscuits and sante Bisbuits, I made them Kid small too so theres heaps. Then an uncooked slice, and some banana choc chip and chocolate and choc chip muffins.. BUT

How the heck do you get them out of the patty papers? lol.. they stick horribly lol.. I asked the kids mum and she said she thinks they eat it out of the paper, rather than pulling them out lol. They both tasted nice tho. I amde extra so if we feel like a hot pudding in the winter they are easy to nuke and have with custard.

So the afternoon is one of relaxing till tea time.

Its a beautiful day out there.

Am doing a red tea towel now.. and then Ill do a miss match of reds to use up what I have left.

Kiwimade I hope your having fun with the grandies..

Kuaka I hope your trip is fun, Ive been looking at the photos and it looks like your having a ball.

Have a fab day everyone

Afternoon ladies, I had an amazing time while I was away but it was pretty exhausting - I think we tried to cram too much into two weeks, should have done less or taken longer. I would have liked an extra day at each of the places we stopped at, ie. Wellington, Christchurch, Greymouth, Christchurch again just overnight, then Queenstown and Dunedin. Managed to catch up with a friend in Te Anau, I thought it was 18 years since I saw her, but she says she left Waiheke Island in 2000, so 20 years.

I've been very tired and feeling very flat since I got back. Slept till 9 yesterday morning, got up and had a cup of tea and went back to bed for half an hour and woke at lunchtime, and couldn't be bothered doing anything in the afternoon. Not achieved much today either.

Tomorrow I have a craft market so I will be up early for that (not looking forward to it if I'm honest).

The accommodation we had booked at Queenstown wasn't suitable and my friend who organised all the travel and accommodation was on the verge of tears when she saw it (we had booked 3 rooms each supposed to have twin beds and a double). We ended up with one room with a settee and a double bed on the mezzanine floor which was up an almost vertical ladder. I'm pretty fit but I struggled to get up the ladder and couldn't stand up straight when I got up there - I'm 5ft nothing. The other two rooms had bunk beds and a double on the mezzanine floor.

I phoned the information centre and the lovely lady there found us an awesome 4 bedroom apartment right in town, we went from one of the worst accommodation places to one of the best I've ever had. None of us wanted to leave, and the price worked out not much more. Now we are trying to get our money back on the original place. It was awful.

While I was away I knitted several pairs of fingerless gloves and crocheted lots of wedges for puzzle balls.

At Greymouth I got soaked to the skin in a downpour. Went to the op shop just as it started and decided to get a rain jacket - $6 - might as well have not bothered as it leaked like a sieve. I would have won the wet T-shirt competition hands down, as well as the wet jeans, sneakers and socks. Went to the Warehouse and bought myself a new top. Luckily I had jandals and shorts in my backpack so I was able to change. The lady I was with (Korean) said we were like "wet mice". Had to laugh - I said you mean "drowned rats" but I think "wet mice" sounds nicer, so from now on that's what we will be when we get wet.

I haven't read through the last two weeks worth of messages but I trust everyone is well, and coping with the heat. We are desperate for water up here, no rain since before Christmas. My garden actually wasn't as bad as I expected. No lawns to mow - it's all dead, but looks like I've only lost one $20 shrub and another one is looking very sad but might be saved if I prune it and give it some tlc.

Right, now I had better do something useful and get organised for tomorrow.

Happy crafting everyone.

Had to laugh at 1shadow1's 5 year old knitting. I have a partially made , hexagonal shapes patchwork quilt, which I started in 1977 for my 1st daughter's cot. Then it was going to be for my second daughter's (born 1980) cot. Next thought was my daughter's 1st baby, born 2010, then 2nd baby 2012. She now has 15 month old twins and guess what?? The partially made patchwork is still languishing in a cupboard. Guess I'll give it to a charity shop, for someone else to have a crack at!

Thank heavens I am not the only one. Jersey is finished and passed on.
But in my searching I found 2 tapestries I had completed but not framed. One was for my granddaughter for her 1st birthday and she is now 34.
Well one day it will get framed.

15775

morning ladies :) How disappointing for your accommodation, kuaka. I hope you get your money back. And yes, you do need lots of time when going south, so much to see!

lol junkee, I love it! Life just takes over doesn't it lol. And sometimes I think your heart just isn't into what your making so it makes it seem longer than usual to finish a project.

Not sure what the day will bring for us but it's our daughter's big day with the publishing of her book :) We had her and the kids stay over the weekend and she is nervous as heck about it lol. Loved seeing the grandies, lots of cuddles so no crafting done. I'll be heading to Whanganui next month for our granddaughter's first ballet recital so can't wait for that.

happy crafting :)

Good morning everybody - couldn’t help but join in with a story about one of my Mums work in progress - we were sorting stuff when she was moving and I came across a bag with all the bits of a knitted bee - before I even got it out of the bag she told me there is a mistake in row 24 of the pattern for the head which had resulted in it being packed away - the magazine with the offending pattern was in the bag - it is dated July 1947 ! I really should have a go at finishing it

Morning everyone

Yeah it was weird that they deleted it.. They sent out an email Kiwimade saying things were changing, then they had a techinical glitch and we had a few days longer.

I think they will lose alot of custom if they annoy people too much.

I have to duck up and get another birthday present and to see the nurse for my B12.

Ive been looking at knitting cotton on here, certainly pricier than overseas, but ohh so many pretty colours including varigated ones.
I think once Ive finished making tea towels I might make some hand towels and flannels... Making sure that I get enough of each colour that they look prettier than the tea towels lol.
The bonus is that at least if i buy on here, I wont have to wait for ever for overseas mail to get through lol.

Have a fab day all I hope this one stays.

I finished the red tea towel and doing a dish cloth, will either finish the balls I have making dish cloths,, or I could do a border and turn some into flannels and be noticibly different to the dishcloths lol..

morning ladies :) Bigggg smiles this morning as it's raining! And a decent rain too, not just a few spots that evaporate before it hit's the ground. Sending rain thoughts to Northland, I hope you have some too.

Seeing as it's raining, my plans for the day have changed to indoor stuff. Another pile of ironing lol and I should do the windows again, blimmen flies. I think I'll get the sewing machine out and sew the pocket onto the bag I am stitching for the light box, will make the bias binding for the edges too. I have stopped following the embroidery pattern and am doing my own thing, typical of me. Yesterday I bought some wadding so the bag will be padded and add that bit more protection. MrK is making me a box for all my small sewing and knitting stuff, the pencil case I use is bursting and the zip is about to break. I could buy a bigger pencil case but he offered to make me one and who am I to say no lol.

Wow, it's a real downpour now. Happy crafting :)

Its been raining here for a while too... Very muggy tho.. Even Missy was hogging the fan a few minutes ago.
I have dishes to do then I will be crocheting I think. I would like to work on the curtains but they are black and one of the lights dont work in the craft room, then one at the machine end of course... Next time we have an inspection Im going to ask that a few things actually get done.

I too hope that Northland especially get rain.. We have knee high paspallum ( Sp) stalks, which are late for up here. Thought the lawns might be done yesterday but it didnt happen..and now I dont mind if they leave it so the rain sinks in lol.

Morning Everyone
We had a good day of rain yesterday... Lawns were done inbetween too.

I was looking for something yesterday and came across some more cotton.. Didnt pack as organised as I should. So Im fine for stock at the mo.

Ive decided to make some hand towels and flannels for my bathroom, so ahve stolen the white tea towel, I thought when I was doing it, it would easily end up looking ugly lol.. and am half way through another. Toying with the idea of putting a couple of crochet flowers on them. Time will tell.

Im not missing the painting like I thought I might. I have just undr half to do. but my next one hasnt even been sent yet cos of the virus.

Missy decided it was cool enough to spend some time on my lap last night. She thought she might like to play with the cotton but got promptly told off, and she didnt touch it again lol..

morning ladies :) lol yes sunflowers, a lot of hard work was done to get it published.

The rain was lovely yesterday but not the humidity. We had a visit by that possum in the wee hours, the Furry One chased it up the tree again. Nothing gets by that dog. We were all outside in the wee hours, me yelling at the possum if it ate my roses it would find itself buried under them. Not very effective but satisfying anyhoo. So back to using a possum trap.

We had a prowler last week, well, someone tried to get through the gate around 3.00amish but the Furry One barked full t*t and by the time MrK got outside, whoever it was, was gone. The gate had been yanked off the wooden bit that supports it and the latch needed a hammer to make it work again but whoever it was didn't get onto the property. The Furry One is worth his weight in gold.

I have a few things to do in town this morning so will be off shortly. Need a shower as I've been out in the garden for a couple of hours.

Crafting later.

Happy crafting :)

Good morning all - I have moved to a smaller house and found a big bin of cotton - are you crocheting tea towels Popeye? A couple of the old girls out with Mum are sick of making face cloths - so if tea towels work could get them going on those

Yes Gerry64 Ive done 5-6 teatowels and I love them.

They hold far more water than 3 spit through thin ones thats for sure. Ive been using 2 strands of 4 play to make them nice and thick. I start with 50 chain and do 45 rows ish.. and put a round of double crochet around and then 1-2 rounds of trebles depending how much cotton I have.

I wont go back to brought tea towels or dish cloths now. And i prefer them crochet rather than knitted

I am a leap year baby - I was 18 the other day ! One of the old girls made me a bouquet of crepe paper roses - my Nana used to make them was a real blast from the past - my granddaughter was blown away - will get the old girl to show her how to do them

morning ladies :) Looks like TM has been busy again...

It's cold this morning and the garden is slowing down so autum is here. Yesterday I cut back the phlox and a large dahlia and split it up. Replanted it in the 'new' garden. I have so many annuals and not enough compost space so do the pruning in stages. MrK emptied one of the compost bins and ommg it is lovely to use. I dont understand why TM is bugging this group... we all talk about our crafts etc..
They are starting to be bloody annoying.

Went to our New shop at the recycle centre yesterday.. Its huge but nicely laid out. With a whole corner of craft stuff. MrP was tired by then so I will go have a look again and rummage through everything.
Im soo pleased for them tho, they have worked hard in a higgildy piggidly builfing for several years, they deserve a nice open building to work in.
They have sort of like a Museum area.. the tops of the shelving with old tools, bikes, ride on toys etc all not for sale but it was fun for MrP to see things from his childhood.

I hope everyone has a fab day.. and that this post lasts longer than 5 minutes

Morning everyone

Im certainly loving the cooler tempts... Roll on winter...

I didnt do any crafts yesterday... still in a blah mood.

But this morning I will be gathering stuff to list in here. Stuff that I should have got rid of before we moved really but I simply didnt have the time. Been a while too since Ive listed anything.

I hope everyone is well and the gardens are recovering from the nasty drought

morning ladies :) lawns are mowed and edges done, boy that rain got the paspallum and daisies going lol. I found a lot more possum fur as I was mowing so the Furry One had more than just a nip at that possum.

I had a text from my brother yesterday and all going to plan, we are going to meet for the first time at the end of the month... it's a bit like that Missing Pieces programme but without the cameras (thank goodness) lol. So exciting, looks like lots of good things are happening this year :)

Keeping with the TM theme and to keep the moderators happy, I spotted some gold work 'thread' being sold here. It's something I want to have a go at but will compare overseas prices and guarantees first.

Time for a cuppa, it's a beautiful day so will have it outside I think.

Happy crafting :)

morning ladies :) I've finished the flowers on this padded bag I'm sewing for the lightbox and will finish sewing it today. Then I'll start the second cushion for our room. I don't have the foam bit for it but that's ok, can still sew it. Then I can tick it off my to-do list lol.

It's definitely cooler in the morning now but I love autum, just the right temperatures for me during the day.

Happy crafting :)

Morning everyone.

Yes Im loving the temps much better now too.

Well I ended up undoing the hand towel I started.. it was too wide for one way and I would have run out if I had tried to make it look in proportion.
So I restarted last night making it narrower and Im much happier. MrP thought I was crazy lol...

Im hoping to get some sewing done today, Ive decided to carry on making the curtains for the lounge, just to add more protection of keeping the cold out in the winter. And I think I will make some for mrPs room too.. I plan on stealing a single strip of blind from one of the other rooms , he has one missing... If we ever move from here I will be taking all the curtains Im making.

Have a fab day everyone..
