| Everyone must be busy this week. We are supposed to get 30 degrees here today, I'm not looking forward to sitting in the office with only a pedestal fan! grizzly4 - 2009-01-22 08:21:00 |
| Hi grizzly, I have had grandkids for the last 3 days, the day before yesterday I had five ranging from 16 down to 1, so yes I have been busy but enjoying every minute. Today I am taking one to Cambridge and just having a 12 and 8 year old. My 12 year old g/daughter has cooked dinner the last 2 nights, plus she made scones for lunch yesterday. smartgirl - 2009-01-22 08:33:00 |
| I hope it is not as hot as they suggest it will be for you. Makereal, I just heard on the news that there is a prisioner out but was releived to hear they think he is out of the area now. We have 3 on the run down here. Have a great day girls. smartgirl - 2009-01-22 08:35:00 |
| Heavens girls You both are as busy as I am. Yes it has been hot here. Did not know about the escape smartgirl but have not watched the news for ages. At that time of the night it is cool enough to be outside limping aroung and planting things. Ha ha. I do look a sight at times. These grandchildren of ours have us running in all directions aye? Still they keep us young. Lol. makerealbany - 2009-01-22 18:24:00 |
| That is not good grizzly Although I expected funding issues this year for our organisation. Still it is a worry. I believe it will get worse before it gets better. It is always the same. Those that need it the most are affected as if they did not have enough to deal with. How is hubby? makerealbany - 2009-01-22 18:28:00 |
| Hey smartgirl can I borrow your grand daughter I could do with another cook to help my daughter. Ha ha. One of my grand daughters has Sealiacs and so she cannot eat what the other one cooks. I had to cook gluten free pancakes for breakfast and the others ate them and did not know the difference. All the Gluten free products are quite expensive so we shop around always keeping an eye out. It is amazing what we have found and all the different prices. makerealbany - 2009-01-22 18:34:00 |
| Some supermarkets have them altogether and others have them spread around the shop. Pak a'Sav have reasonable prices. It is a wonder you could hear yourself think with 5 of them at once smartgirl. Sometimes I find it really hard. Ha ha. How is H? Little miss is running everywhere and I swear I have lost weight chasing her. makerealbany - 2009-01-22 18:38:00 |
| 5 at once!!!! I need a nana nap after having 3 for a couple of hours!!! grizzly4 - 2009-01-23 09:27:00 |
| Bet he is knackered That is quite a workout for the week, grizzly. My Invalid son has been going to the pools 3 times a week and he is had it after each sessions. The social contact is good for them though. Kids are out on the town and I am babysitting Miss 1. She is fast asleep but the neighbours are having a party in their barn and the music is loud. They should quiten soon they usually do. makerealbany - 2009-01-23 22:15:00 |
| Another beautiful day again today. Actually mentioned to get baby B's dressing gown cut out the other night so hopefully will get some sewing done this weekend. He will be here for the day today so will probably keep me otherwise occupied.bHad to bring work home to do as well plus want to finish a cardy to put in the shop on Monday. Who said weekends were to rest? Haha. grizzly4 - 2009-01-24 08:55:00 |
| And we won't even mention HOUSEWORK!!!! grizzly4 - 2009-01-24 08:55:00 |
| Hot here too Well my heels are still swollen and giving me gyp. GP says no gym for 2 months at lest. I have Plantar Fascitis. I appear to have small tears( she hopes)In the ligaments that attach my heel to my toes. When I stand on them pain shoots up my legs but eases for awhile once I start moving but the pain then increases during the day. I get numbness and pins and needles if I sit for awhile but I am supposed to rest and use ice. I have been sitting with my feet in a bucket of iced water. I have not got time for this nonsense so I am going to will it away. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2009-01-24 19:33:00 |
| Apparently excercise Like going to the gym makes it feel okay during but then the pain increase after. When I told her my symtoms she said I may have a heel spur pinching the nerves. Bugger me doesn't thewoman know I have heaps of plants to plant out, curtains to finish heming, etc. I did think it was only my Archilles tendon, silly hopeful me. Went to the shop with my daughter and limped around like a really, really old person. Lol. Bet Little miss can bet me in a race. makerealbany - 2009-01-24 19:38:00 |
| That sounds really awful, makerealbany! A definite no win situation for the time being. If you do as you are told how long will it take to come right? Not that doctors areprepared to committ to this things, eh? All I got from taking that huge dose of anti-biotics was a nasty dose of thrush which took $55 of more drugs to kill!! The cough lives on!!! Had family here most of the day so nothing else got done. I, too, have plants sitting here to go in, well tomorrow is another day (and another 30 degrees I hear) I should have melted off pounds by now, haha. grizzly4 - 2009-01-24 23:27:00 |
| Can take up to a year grrrr Never mind these things are sent to try us11 It is working believe you me ha ha. I think I am melting weight away as well grizzly. Lol. Got to keep my weight down because of my back and now my feet. Maybe I could have liposuction. Tee Hee. I am at no 3 son's.He is moving to Welli and I came last night to mind the cats amid all the boxes.I sat with my feet on ice, watching TV and knitting. makerealbany - 2009-01-25 09:19:00 |
| That darn cough grizzly is becoming a nightmare. I cannot believe it has not gone. Yes antibiotics and thrush go hand in hand. Happy planting girl. We are having a family barbi this arvo and my SIL is running around like a lunatic. He has to go to Orewa to get the gazebo before he can put it up. In this family we have stuff everywhere. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2009-01-25 09:23:00 |
| Unlike us... where everything is stored in our house for all 3 families! We try to stay in a little house because it's only the 2 of us but really it's not half the time. I have collected Eeyores (from Winnie the Pooh stories) for the past few years but I think I might sell them off and just keep a few favourites as they can't even be on display where I see them every day. Oh well...... grizzly4 - 2009-01-25 09:55:00 |
| I know what you mean I have had to sort out stuff and I will be selling some things on trademe because I have not got the room anymore. It is sad to see things go but I have to be realistic. I gave my doll collection to little Miss and her mum is trying to put them on shelves in her room up high. She also got all the teddybear collection as well. makerealbany - 2009-01-25 12:49:00 |
| makereal, I have had that, in each foot but at separate times. I was recommended to go to a foot man, cant spell and get some heel inserts. They did help with the pain. They enclose my heel so you have to wear shoes with a covered heel but it is well worth it. Often if my archilies is niggly I wear them for a while and it sorts it out. smartgirl - 2009-01-26 09:49:00 |
| grizzly, it was like that for me too untill my kids brought their own homes. But now I have some gear stored for my daughter in Australia. It is never ending. smartgirl - 2009-01-26 11:36:00 |
| Spent a lovely Sunday sewing for the first time in years. Clothes, that is, rather than cushions for the shop. Baby B's little dressing gown has turned out wonderfully. I had a ball. grizzly4 - 2009-01-27 07:37:00 |
| Thanks for that smartgirl I have got some heel inserts but having been wearing my good sports shoes to support but they are so hot. I am a barefoot girl but cannot do that at the moment. Wish it were winter. I have never experienced so much pain. Much worse than after I had my back surgery. Or is it that I had that done years ago and my memory is failing. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2009-01-27 14:46:00 |
| Glad the dressing gown turned out well grizzly. Mind you I would not have expected anything else from you. Is that Man of yours still doing all those exercizes, etc. I do not know How I will cope not going to the gym. It keeps my back supple and my temper under control Lol. I am so frustrated and I am a lousy patient. My kids drive me nuts because they keep saying. Go and rest Mum. If I rest anymore I will stiffen up. Anyway finished another Merino singlet and sorted out the wool for a nice shawl. Sat on my butt and put all my sewing gear in the sewing cabinet SIL put in the cottage for me. That was cool, now at lest I can put my hands on all the sewing stuff, Yippee. makerealbany - 2009-01-27 14:54:00 |
| I am so sorry you are suffering, makerealbany. It really does sound awful. My hubby is not having a good time with pain either athe moment and has less mobility than he had before doing the work outs at the hospital. He actually can't straighren his leg at all any more. We are getting mixed messages from the different physio's on duty at the classes. Very frustrating when he had 122 degrees of movement before he started and now only 105. grizzly4 - 2009-01-28 07:55:00 |
| Sometimes grizzly Physios different treatments can be a worry. I never have physio on my back anymore because I felt a lot worse. Added to that I started having probelms with my legs getting numb. My specialist agrees with me that I know my back better than anyone else and so I do not go to physios. Poor hubby. I started a diary and noted what they got me to do and how it affected me. That info helped convince my specialist that I had given a lot of thought to what worked and what did not. makerealbany - 2009-01-28 19:20:00 |
| Just knitted all day Trying to get mobile for a very late huge Ist Birthday Party for little Miss which is on Saturday. I have baking to do on Thursday and I need a haircut. Starting to look haggard. Ha ha. It is really dry here and no rain in sight. We have been using grey water for the garden in places. makerealbany - 2009-01-28 19:24:00 |
| Grey water? Now that's an interesting term! grizzly4 - 2009-01-29 07:37:00 |
| Grey Water is waste water that you can recycle. I see in Australia a lot of homes have special colllection tanks solely for watering the garden etc. Great idea. I took 4 g/kids to the pools yesterday so am very sore today. How are you two ladies. Makereal any relief yet. I remember when mine went it was probably a few days before I realised it had gone. But I had them for at least 9 months. I know your pain. smartgirl - 2009-01-29 10:31:00 |
| Cool idea about grey water! I am knackered. Normally do a 30 hour week plus about 4 hours for shop but I have already done way over that because of the Holiday programme. Roll on the short week next week! grizzly4 - 2009-01-29 19:36:00 |
| Hi girls The grey water is the only thing keeping plants alive at the moment. Had a great belated Birthday party for M. Have slept most of today. Feeling better now. Was so exhausted after the last few days. Both legs were really sore. Bug--- it. It is as hot as hell here although we do have a breeze. I could not even remember what the date was. Lol. Tomorrow will be better. Brain cells are sluggish and I am blaming the weather. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2009-02-01 17:21:00 |
| Really hot here, too had the grandsons in the paddling pool under the gazebo most of yesterday. Lots of fun. But now I realise the weekend is almost over and the family have been here all weekend. No time for a rest before work again tomorrow. grizzly4 - 2009-02-01 18:05:00 |
| oops seems like gremlins again At my son's and was sure I posted a message after the last one showing here. Nuts. Another hot day but a bit of a breeze here. Forgot to pay for some tulip bulbs until today. Too much going on. Grand daughter has been in her paddling pool a lot or else on her swing under the trees. makerealbany - 2009-02-02 21:14:00 |
| And then there was yesterday which was so jolly cold!!! Had to go looking for a wool cardy in the end. No wonder we get coughs and colds. Have to see a locum today as I need to redo my prescriptions and both my doctors have taken the week off. It'll be interesting to see what he has to say about the cough, eh? I've been told not to expect too much from this particular locum, though. Let's just throw another $28 into the wind! grizzly4 - 2009-02-03 08:41:00 |
| It is cooking again up here I cannot believe you were cold grizzly. Lucky you. I am lucky because my docter seems to be very thorough thank heavens. Will get a cortisone injection this week. Foot just keeps swelling and is as Renee Zeilw says like jumping on a plate of brocken glass when you put it on the ground. She had it for 2 years. Hell. I rested all today, knitted a back of a jersey for bubs due in April and tonight it is just as bad as it was this morning. makerealbany - 2009-02-03 19:55:00 |
| Got daughter to pay for a tm I won. Today received email from TM. Trader is disabled pending an investigation. Second one I have had trouble with. Ah well those are the breaks. Sil gone back overseas again so just as females here. What bliss. ha ha. Seriously though that boy will be missed as usual. Even though we are better organised he did a lot around the section this time home. We are starting to get somewhere. I even have Sky in the cottage but no phone yet. They gave me a sky dish as well as the decoder and because it is all on the one property I pay $25 a month which I can afford. There are hardly any craft programs on though. They used to have a lot. I am disappointed. makerealbany - 2009-02-03 20:03:00 |
| We gave up Sky when we moved last year. We weren't getting any thing out of it anymore after having it for years. Decided to save ourselves the money. When we bought a new tv at Xmas this year it has Freeview built in which covers us for the change to digital next year. It doesn't provide anything new that I am interested in and has stopped us getting Prime which did have a couple of our favourites. Sky will give us prime on it's own for a one off cost of $145. Uh no! I'm not that desperate. I have noticed that the weather affects Freeview as much as it did Sky. We had great reception with good ol' bunny ears before the new tele. grizzly4 - 2009-02-04 09:25:00 |
| The other disappointment was playing our favourite DVDs. I really hoped that the picture would fill the whole screen which they didn't on our old tv. But no, apparently some of the new DVDs aren't up to the same level as the widescreen tvs. Would you believe it? One of the reasons I finally said yes to spending all this money was to watch 'Mama Mia' on a big screen in the comfort of my lounge. Bah humbug!! grizzly4 - 2009-02-04 09:30:00 |
| Better finish this on a positive note I really love the High definition picture. It will be great when all the programmes/movies are HD next year. I do feel for people with perfectly good tvs who are going to have to pay extra or change tvs to get the benefits. Our old tv is in perfect condition and has never given us any problems. I'v got the whole package on TM but its not moving. grizzly4 - 2009-02-04 09:34:00 |
| You are right grizzly I have all these probelms with technology. My grandsons are always adjusting things for me for a better picture but the picture is super with sky. I have not got the room for a bigger TV and mine is okay for me. I am going to email sky and complain about the lack of craft programmes. makerealbany - 2009-02-04 11:27:00 |
| Sent my info off to TM About riskiplants, I should have known with a name like that. Cheeky bu--ers. I thought I was buying bulbs not contributing $10 to a scam by R J Worthington. Guess I can write their name everyone esle has. I should have read the noticeboard before I BID. makerealbany - 2009-02-04 11:30:00 |
| I hate being ripped off and good on you for printing their name. I over sold a wee singlet and have given trader a refund and sent a wee jacket for the inconvenience to her. I have been in so much pain for the last little while and I am so over it. smartgirl - 2009-02-04 12:08:00 |
| Hi smartgirl Sorry to hear you are not so good. Hell what did we do in our past lives to warrant all this? Never mind at lest our brains and fingers are still working. Lol. I cannot even drive without pain. Dah. I hate being housebound so just do it anyway. Can not go far though. How is the family? makerealbany - 2009-02-05 17:53:00 |
| I really feel for you guys.Being a rescuer by nature I really want to fix it for you both. Neither of you deserve what you are going through. You are both amazing still getting on and doing so much for your friends and family. People like you need to be treasured and looked after really well while you suffering like this. Thinking of you both every day. grizzly4 - 2009-02-06 10:54:00 |
| The craft co-op I belong to is struggling a bit financially this year and we are committed to making a donation back to the community at our AGM each year. Last year our members knitted up prem babywear and donated it all to the prem unit. This year I suggested we do the same with children's beanies, scarves and gloves/mittens. Either knitted or sewed in polar fleece. Our new Family Support Worker at my work is going to co-ordinate the distribution to local kids already feeling the effects of poverty. I am quite chuffed that my work and my hobby can work in partnership. Two sides of my life I don't usually bring together. grizzly4 - 2009-02-06 10:59:00 |
| It would be wonderful if you could fix us both grizzly. How wonderful to hear of these thing happening to support people in need. I do knitting for Beanies for Babies. We knit beanies, booties, singlets etc to donate to prem babies in the newborn units in NZ. The lady who started it is moving overseas and it is now being run by the yarn queen and she is going to take it further and and we are going to knit all sizes so eventually all babies will receive a gift. smartgirl - 2009-02-06 12:01:00 |
| Tried to post a message earlier But we had a powercut and the fan went off. Grrrr. It is cool that you can combine the two grizzly. See I have to use language that feels cold. Lol. I have not logged into Beanies for Babies since my last donation smartgirl. I am so slack. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2009-02-06 18:25:00 |
| me too, but I did some the other night and it got me motivated. On Monday night on 60 Minutes is the story about Ava, the wee girl I told you about. smartgirl - 2009-02-07 15:41:00 |
| Iwill watch that smartgirl Ihave my granddaughter's laptop and am practicing. She does not have a mouse. We have wireless modem in the house and I can pick up internet with this laptop. My son said he will put one in my computer and then I will not have to buy a laptop. makerealbany - 2009-02-07 22:00:00 |
| Need a lot of practice with this ha ha My fingers get tangled up when I have to move the curser and I curse bigtime. makerealbany - 2009-02-07 22:04:00 |
| Bought a laptop at work before Christmas and I had to load some files for the worker who was going to use it. Found it very different and quite tricky. grizzly4 - 2009-02-08 10:02:00 |
