| Thanks for getting the doll's house For me smartgirl. I really appreciate it. I was just hanging out the washing and looked down the paddock and the neighbours are home. Yippee I am over the moon about that. I was dreading the troop down the hill today and now I don't have to. My girls arrive home today at 3 so once we get home I have to bake a large Choc cake for Mr 15 tomorrow. I am feeling relaxed now so I will go and feed the ONE cat next door hurrah. makerealbany - 2008-12-31 07:59:00 |
| I went to Spotlight yesterday for the first time in ages. All sewing patterns were half price with your Spotlight card. Was that a sign or what. Bought 3 patterns for 1-4 yr olds: a hooded dressing gown, pj's and a lovely hooded jacket which is buttoned and fully lined. Daughter chose wiggles polar fleece for baby B's first dressing gown for next winter. Have to clean out mu sewing room now so I can get started. 3yr old and 19 mth grandsons staying for a couple of days while their parents go camping. It's so hot down here I'll be following the shade around with the paddling pool, I think. grizzly4 - 2008-12-31 09:25:00 |
| Oh no guess what? Grandsons had just arrived yesterday morning when my parents rang to say they are arriving Friday and staying to Sunday. They had been saying they weren't able to drive this far any more. They will meet 2 of the 3 boys for the first time! grizzly4 - 2009-01-01 08:10:00 |
| Thats wonderful news grizzly once they meet the boys they may realise what they are missing out on and want to move closer. Have a really Happy New Year. smartgirl - 2009-01-01 10:06:00 |
| Happy New Year Makereal I bet you could have jumped over the moon when you saw them home. What a cheek. I am having a quite day today. I have started on some cotton dish cloths and would like to get 2 done as part of my daughters birthday present. smartgirl - 2009-01-01 10:09:00 |
| Happy New Year Girls What a lovely day. Little miss cutie is playing with an old phone at my feet. She is such a trick. She will love that dolls house smartgirl. We will have to put the fiddly bits away until she is older. I babysat last night whilst her Mum went off to relax with no 3 son. This morning I woke at 7-30( lovely sleep in, yes) I heard this little voice down the hall." Nana, Nana." I practically flew into her room. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2009-01-01 10:45:00 |
| Grizzly you have fun With your grandsons and I agree with smartgirl. Your parents do not know what joy they are missing. Wow you did well in the sewing area. I baked that B Day cake for my grandson and put it in the oven right on midnight. All sort of fireworks were in view over the water. It was quite pretty. It rained a bit so that was good because it is the same up here grizzly. Hot as hell. We are going to a barbi B-day tea for C tonight so that is cool. Might go early and have a swim. makerealbany - 2009-01-01 10:52:00 |
| Bring one of those cotton dishclothes smartgirl on Sat. Mum and Nan used to make them when we were small. I have not seen one for years. I do remember they lasted for years and I had to grate the Sunlight soap to put in the bucket Mum soaked them in. Might make a couple myself. makerealbany - 2009-01-01 10:56:00 |
| Phew it is hot up here At my son's in Remuera. Just finished the shopping and I feel like I have run a marathon. Ha ha.The traffic was awful because 2 lanes on the bridge were closed for repairs. They do it every year. I have to go back thru that yuk. Having a cuppa and a nana rest first. Had a lovely birthday dinner last night and those teenagers loved my choc cake so that was nice. Will be off to Ham early as we can tomorrow. Have to drop the dogs to the kennels first though and my daughter told me she has to go to Briscoes in Ham to buy the wedding gift because that is where the registry is. Dah!!!! I will text you when we get sorted there smartgirl. The wedding is at 4. That motel has a fan I hope. makerealbany - 2009-01-02 13:41:00 |
| I hope the weather stayed nice for you, makeralbany, for the wedding, 'cos it sure changed down here yesterday. Hail, thunder and lightening. Just in time for our bbq tea. The visit from my parents went very well with a few dramas thrown in. For example one of my cats landed like a missile on to Mum at 5am waking her with a hell of a fright and my 3 yr old grandoson threw up over the couch. What chaos that caused!! And now that everyone has gone we are trying to repair the damage to the couch. grizzly4 - 2009-01-04 10:43:00 |
| WoW!!! Just got a phone call from my Doctor with results from a test I did on Christmas Eve. They know whats wrong with me and it's nothing they had thought of. Watch this space for after my appointment later today! grizzly4 - 2009-01-06 10:04:00 |
| Hi girls Well I have broncitis and feel lousy. To add insult to Injury smartgirl after that darn wedding which my daughter loved by the way ha ha, I got home to find a plant had fallen inside the cottage. It must have got top heavy as it had masses of flowers. There was dirt all over the carpet and over a book I had got for xmas. I cleaned all that mess up and unpacked my bag to find that I had not put the top on my new makeup properly and that had spilt all over the other cosmetics in the make up bag. It was just not my weekend. makerealbany - 2009-01-06 11:08:00 |
| Text bidding I put in an autobid for a table and chairs for little Miss and registered for Text bidding but someone bid $1 more and I was not notified. Maybe there was not enough time drat. That was on Sat night. I am pleasd you will finally find out what is wrong grizzly. We are waiting with bated breath. makerealbany - 2009-01-06 11:14:00 |
| good luck grizzly. I hope you are feeling a bit better makereal. I cannot believe we are into the 6th day of the new year. I cant believe how little I have managed to get done. I have sewed two little shorts and top sets for my girls and cut out another to ready to sew. I did clean out my drawers. But with Mr 16 away I was going to do so much. Oh well he is not back till Friday pm. smartgirl - 2009-01-06 13:48:00 |
| That was a hard weekend, makerealbany! I have a bug colonising in my throat called hymorphus or something similar. Have to google it and haven't had a chance yet. I am on more drugs (6 pills a day just for that alone!) But if it works I may be able to come off the inhalers and antihistamines. Will know in a week, they say so here's hoping. I just hope there are no side effects. Home alone for a change. Have a couple of errands to run then coming back to cut out Baby B's first dressing gown. We bought Wiggles polar fleece with a lighter blue for the lining. grizzly4 - 2009-01-07 09:55:00 |
| Hope that the meds get rid of the bug grizzly. You and smartgirl are a lot more productive than I am at the mo. I still feel rotten but maybe more myself tomorrow. makerealbany - 2009-01-07 16:42:00 |
| Hope you are feeling better today. So hot down here. 33 degrees yesterday. Only cut out the pattern, it was just too hot standing over a table. Spent most of the day in the shade reading and drinking iced water. grizzly4 - 2009-01-08 08:50:00 |
| Hi girls feeling better today At lest I am no longer coughing every 19 mins, Ha ha. Dropped kids at airport again so they could fly to Wellington. I seem to live at the ruddy airport lately. Then went and shopped for Invalid son, spent more than I was supposed to but he said not to worry. Less to shop for next week. Called into No 3 son's house to feed his cats as he is also in Wellington looking for a place to live. Came home and let out our dogs and no 2 son's moodle. They arrive from Aussi in a week but their dog had to come early. He is a cutie. Designer dog. Maltese terrier and a Poodle. makerealbany - 2009-01-08 23:28:00 |
| So I only have the three dogs and 4 cats To look after for a week by myself. I have a lot of plants ready to go in the garden and will be up early to get stuck in. I am so pleased to get a whole week by myself. Yee pee. I have a feeling no 3 son is home at the weekend so I will only have our cats then. My vege garden is doing well. I am very pleased with it. The herbs have gone mad. It is very hot here too and I have to water the garden deeply every other day. Going to take stuff out of as many pots as I can except for those that don't need a lot of watering. Well last run for the dogs and then a tall glass of something cool. makerealbany - 2009-01-08 23:38:00 |
| I hear what you're saying about the growth in the garden. Absolutely amazing. What about our temp yesterday: 40 degrees!!!! Spent most of it air conditioned places e.g physio with hubby who is now off his crutches and sleeping well if it wasn't for the heat! Also booked rail tickets to do the scenic trip from Christchurch to Blenheim and back next week. Will overnight with my parents. Have wanted to do this trip for ages and now it's down to $40 each way. Amazing. grizzly4 - 2009-01-09 08:56:00 |
| I hope you two have a good trip grizzly Yes that is a good price. Started in the garden at 7 and worked until 5. Had a great time. No one but the pets and I. It was a wonderful day and I am feeling much better. The dogs sniffed everything I planted and the little moodle gor really dirty. Ha ha. His white wool looks grey. I will bath him tomorrow. Ihave been bidding on seeds and fruiting trees and plants. Tiger for punishment Lol. I feel very satisfied with todays effort. makerealbany - 2009-01-09 23:20:00 |
| That was a really long day in the garden! How is your back today? I only have a few weeds to pull today and I really want to make some more headway on baby B's dressing gown but he will be here today until 11ish tonight so it depends whether he lets me. The other 2 are staying over tonight as well and 19 mth L is going through the stage of screaming when he is put to bed. Not sure if B will sleep this evening till his Mum picks him up. I have just finished a wee prem set for the shop and nearly finished the back of a cotton cardy for me. grizzly4 - 2009-01-10 08:51:00 |
| makereal you are like the eveready battery rabbit, you never stop. Your garden sounds great. I have just finished sewing my 2 wee girls some very cute summer outfits. Much nicer that what you buy. Miss H is 3 today, and we had a family lunch at my place today and she is having a big party at her place tomorrow so that will be a great day. smartgirl - 2009-01-10 17:48:00 |
| Grizzly I wish makereal and I were coming on the train with you. That would be fun. I am glad you are enjoying your sewing too. You have had it so hot. Its been bad enough here. smartgirl - 2009-01-10 17:50:00 |
| Grizzly you had a busy weekend. Bet the little ones kept you running. I laughed when I read your post. Yep sometimes they don't "LET US". Had another busy day in the garden yesterday. Went out with a friend to dinner and then into town for the night. I enjoyed that. Got into the garden this morning and then my family from Aussi arrived to see their dog and me of course. Ha ha. We had a great day. My other granddaughter from Orewa arrived this arvo so the two girls were giggling and carrying on as they do. makerealbany - 2009-01-11 20:11:00 |
| My grandson was quite happy To connect up my new chrissy present and watch a movie whilst ignoring the girls. Later on we said everyone out and then I had 3 teenager and 3 dogs running around the property for 2 hours before dinner. No 2 son went and bought takeaways for tea and now they have gone back to the motel and J and I are alone again until tomorrow. The kids will be here for a few hours whilst Mum and Dad go and look at houses to buy. I am going to cook a Roast dinner for us tomorrow because it is so hard in a motel. They have a house already and an apartment for that matter but they have them rented out and have decided to buy a house near the Private school the kids will attend. That school is not far from here so that is handy. I have to hoover the house now and do some washing. It has been raining up here which was so good for the garden and my transplanted plants. makerealbany - 2009-01-11 20:20:00 |
| Smartgirl how did H's Party go We never had one for M because there was no one around so we might when they get back from wellington. I found more boys material and Mum has put her order in so a padded quilt is to be started. I can't find any batting so will have to buy some. Don't need it just yet though. Do you know anyone with raspberry canes? I want some. makerealbany - 2009-01-11 20:24:00 |
| I have always grown raspberries but my canes were destroyed, buried, etc. No matter how hard I look in the paddock I cannot find any sign of a one. makerealbany - 2009-01-11 20:28:00 |
| The party was great, we did not leave till late. All the kids had a great time so miss H is very very happy. She is coming to stay Tuesday and Wednesday, so that will be nice. She is great company but everything you say to her she answers HOW!!!. I run out of answers. Did you find your raspberries yet. It will be lovely to have your family home and living near by. How wonderful. smartgirl - 2009-01-11 21:45:00 |
| Grizzly, how did you survive the weekend. I hope you had a fab time with them all. When do you start work again. smartgirl - 2009-01-11 21:47:00 |
| I love H,s how Mis adding to her vocabulary and O OH seems to be her latest along with finger pointing. She always says Nana when she gets up in the morning which gives me the warm fuzzies. That little girl will go far she has me wrapped around her fingers. ha ha. Everyone else is there as well. Am still searching for my canes. Someone wanted to get rid of some in the gardening thread so we told them to sell them on TM So here is hoping. makerealbany - 2009-01-11 23:26:00 |
| I have been buying seeds and plants on TM It is a real eye opener. I cannot believe the price of some plants. makerealbany - 2009-01-11 23:29:00 |
| Had a lovely weekend, thank you. Completely taken up by grandchildren and then a visit from friends. Slept very well last night I can tell you. Guess what the pills haven't worked, coughing has been worse since taking them. So the search for a miracle continues. I go back to work on 19th so would have been nice for them to have a cough free office. Sigh. grizzly4 - 2009-01-12 08:37:00 |
| Maybe it will take a while to get rid of the coughing grizzly. It is a right bugger coughing all the time. Already planted out 20 buxus this morning where I want a path thru the garden. Miss 13 is still asleep. I will leave her because it was such an exciting day for her yesterday and as the others will be here at 3 she needs to conserve her energy. Ha ha. Washing is out, animals excercised and now I have to hoover the house and the cottage. Think I will have a long cool drink first. Whilst I was gardening I was hungary so much thru basil, mint and parsley. Nothing like having ready made snacks. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2009-01-12 12:04:00 |
| Spelling was off yesterday dah Went to the gym this morning. Mowed the lawns and resting now until the grandchildren come. Got all 3 teenagers for the night. Should be entertaining to say the lest. Got some thornless raspberries on TM. Also got little miss a table and chairs set. Maybe I told you before. My memory is suffering or at lest that is what the grandchildren say. makerealbany - 2009-01-13 13:24:00 |
| Smartgirl still not sure when I am heading down Your way. My family is keeping me so busy at the moment. Other kids home on Thursday so maybe things will slow down a bit. I never have enough hours in the day and these people who say "I don't know what I will do when I retire" are nuts. One of the associates I know thru voluntary work said that and I felt like laughing at her but I didn't. Wasn't I nice!!!!! Managed to proofread a job description for them and had to make lots of changes. Some people think they can treat staff like chattels. Grh. It is usually those who have never had to really work hard that do this. One's perception of work varies according to one's income and how that income is derived. I can be such a bitch at times. Sorry. No I am not. Lol. makerealbany - 2009-01-13 13:33:00 |
| Had to race my Foxy To the vet at 5-30. He ripped a nail that was just hanging and when I tried to cut it, I cringed so off we went. He was such a good dog. She ripped it off. yes ripped it off while I held him. He did not make a sound. He has antibiotics for 4 days. He is very quiet tonight and his kennel mate seems to know because he is quiet as well. Even little T is not his noisy self but the teenagers are making up for it. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2009-01-13 20:37:00 |
| Morning Saw zoe had some things for sale so said Hi. Hey smartgirl have you any boys Osh Kosh stuff. My daughter loves the brand. S's Mum and Dad took them shopping on Sat and bought a pram for their future grandson. It is exactly what they wanted. One of those Urban Mountain Buggy types. She can put the first car seat straight onto the frame whilst he is little. It also has a carrycot for him to sleep in etc. They also were given his coming home outfit so as it is their only son's son I cannot be put out. Ha ha. I think it is really lovely of them but I have dibs on knitting his first baby shawl. I have staked my claim. Now I just need to look thru my patterns and find a plain one. I am going to knit it in Merino. Saw some Canna Lillies on TM so had to bid Ha ha. I have been working out where they will look the best. Lol. nO 2 Son and DIL are busy looking at houses again. I do not envy them. makerealbany - 2009-01-14 12:13:00 |
| Hi cleggy How was your christmas? What are you up to? Craftwise that is Ha ha. makerealbany - 2009-01-14 12:14:00 |
| what a busy girl you have been makereal you have been talking to yourself. I have 2 wee girls so have been very busy as you can imagine. You are so good to take a step back for the other grandparents. When my N had wee C I did the same. He was not their first g/child but the only one in NZ. I was so nice taking a step back watching them with him. I still had pleanty of my time. The only boys osh kosh is very small. smartgirl - 2009-01-14 13:08:00 |
| I think I would rather have 2 wee girls Than my 3 teenagers. At lest the littlies get tired and do not empty the fridge and pantry. They all have hollow legs. Ha ha. I think my grandson will most likely be a 9 to 10 lb Baby so very small is too small. Lol. All the kids are gone and I am relishing the peace until tomorrow. makerealbany - 2009-01-14 20:34:00 |
| Hi I'm back! What a great trip! Took 5 & 1/2 hrs each way for a 4 hour road trip but we saw so many other things. I just love travelling by train. Overnighted with my Mum & Dad so I have seeen them 3 times in as many months now. Stuck at home today as the driveway is being tarsealed but I have lots to catch up on. I know what you mean about not enough hours in the day once you retire, Mum & Dad always have something on the go. I can't wait, work gets in the way sometimes!!! grizzly4 - 2009-01-15 09:02:00 |
| Welcome home grizzly So pleased you had a fab time. I loved travelling in trains to work when I lived in Sydney. You see heaps more being higher up and going thru places you don't when going by car. So you are stuck at home now. Tee hee. Relax and max out. Off to the airport to pick up kids and then I am looking forward to maxing out for the rest of the day. Have a good day and you are so lucky to be able to spend time with your Mum and Dad. I miss my Pa and always see him in the garden with me. makerealbany - 2009-01-15 09:21:00 |
| Here I go again smartgirl Talking to myself. Ha hA. Resting today. Took kids to the mall and was limping by the time I got back. This right leg has been giving me gyp again. A and S have taken bubs and the teenagers to the beach for lunch and a swim so I am going to lay on the couch and watch a movie. Had a foor spa last night which at lest made it easier to sleep. Kids in Orewa got me the foot spa for xmas. Got 11 lavender plants to plant as a little hedge around a garden but they will have to wait. I watered them and threw them in the shade. Bought from Warehouse for $2 were 6 so a good bargain. They do not water their plants enough in there. makerealbany - 2009-01-16 13:46:00 |
| We bought a new tele after lots of deliberation and humming and haaing. All due to the changes coming to the tv networks in a couple of years. We weren't sure whether to wait and see whether the prices of tv's came down once plasma and LCDs weren't quite so new or whether to get rid of ours now and try and recoup some of the cost. Very stressful. But I love the new tele. It's like being in the movies in our lounge. Haha. grizzly4 - 2009-01-17 08:44:00 |
| Having a difficult time with one of the neighbours sons who plays very loud music, revs his car and does wheelies in his back yard that creates thick black rubbery smoke over our property. Awful in this hot weather when the all the windows are open. Called the Noise Control last night and now the Dad is yelling at my hubby and our other neighbour in our driveway as I type this. I hate this sort of thing!!!! grizzly4 - 2009-01-17 08:47:00 |
| Had a lovely family day yesterday despite the slightly rocky start mentioned above. Ended up eatching the new DVD out called Wall-e. Very sweet movie. 20mth old was totally engrossed. Never moved. I have to back to work tomorrow and there are so many things on my 'to do' list still. Why do holidays just fly past? grizzly4 - 2009-01-18 08:55:00 |
| Hi grizzly Great news about new TV. I took my new Mediagate 35 up to my daughters last night and we watched a movie and it was just like you said. Cheaper too ha ha. Sad about noisy neighbours. Maybe they are trying to audition for that Tv show. Neighbours from hell. Abusive neighbours run rampart in that show. Have not seen Wall-e. Off to do son's groceries and then cook them tea. makerealbany - 2009-01-18 13:25:00 |
| Still limping It is taking a while to heel. Methinks I need to go for an xray. Should have healed by now. Walking with a stick. Ha ha. I look like my mother. She would laugh if she could see me. SIL put up my curtain tracks in lounge and dining area but curtains are 9 inches too long so I have to shorten them. I really hate shortening large curtains. Need to because sun is so bright at times. No 2 son and DIL are still running around trying to buy a house. No 3 son keeps inspecting the ones they like and saying "No there is a risk" so off they go again. They are quite frustrated with it all. Weren't those bad floods now South grizzly? makerealbany - 2009-01-20 13:05:00 |
| I'll say!! And yet we only got heavy rain with no flooding on our side of town. Back at work with holidays well & truly over with the future looking a little bleak, I have to say. The funding for our programmes has been cut (and not just our organisation) and we have to decrease staff which means less children on the programmes which also means less childcare places for working parents. Nasty circle. It may mean a cut in my hours at some point as well. A bit scary this close to home. grizzly4 - 2009-01-20 18:47:00 |
