Had another try at a pizza last night, and got a much better result. This time i preheated stone(trimmed a square one to round to fit) at max temp for 30 minutes, and managed to get a crisp base, still not as good as main oven with upside down cast iron pan, but good enough.
Still have not used main oven since getting it.

I cooked a whole chicken tonight with only a little oil and salt, it was excellent. The chicken weighed just under 1.4 kg's. Breast down for half an hour and then turned and cooked for another 30 mins. Rested it for approximately 15 mins.

I got ours only a few days back and have used it more than I ever did my previous Phillips one. I think the Facebook group that Share Kmart Air Fryer Recipes Australia or something like that have got my enthusiasm going
The tips and advice as well as recipes is excellent.

I'll second that!

I cooked home made frozen spring rolls for a late lunch and they took approx 20 mins at 200C and were delicious.

I made a bacon and egg pie (smaller one) in mine yesterday. It was very nice.
Have to admit I haven't used my bench oven since getting it. So quick to freshen bread rolls and flat breads too, no pre-heating neccessary.

I had trouble too with one particular brand, it blew after only a few weeks use. Took it back and was given a replacement, same thing happened so I got a refund. Bought a Zip one which is still going strong, recently donated it to my now flatting Granddaughter as didn't use it as much and my airfryer has taken it's place.

Just found this thread and now I want one of these gadgets! I cook mostly vegetarian and have been interested to see the cooker does more than just meat and fish.

That's a convention oven which is slightly different from an air fryer, although probably does a similar job. Air fryer's have a pull out basket in them. I have a convention oven and always do my roasts in them, they are great.

curious what died, did the element blow or something else? at a few months old surely they would have been replaced free, or did they refuse? Mine sure looks identical to ones 3-4 times the price elsewhere, but i did choose the cheaper mechanical control one, as i never trust cheap electronic controlled items.

Just bought a Sunbeam air fryer/convection oven. So far it's great. Anyone else have one?

Is that one of the glass bowl type ovens? If so, I have had a couple over the last 20 or so years and yes, they are OK.. Used them instead of my big oven and cooked just about everything in them, hence replacing the original one when it died. I now have a small airfryer which I love along with my bench oven, just the two of us so it suits our needs. I gave my convection one to my uni flatting granddaughter who much appreciates any hand me downs.

No, it's a small square stainless oven with an air frying function as well as convection and grill.

I ended up buying a 2nd hand Taste The Difference air fryer from Facebook Marketplace for $100, it came with all the accessories. I really wanted a Phillips XXL but the price is too high for me. I can say I love this air fryer, it has a top and bottom element, so no need to turn food over. I did a rottisiere chicken in it and it was melt in the mouth tender. I did a forequarter of lamb last night, just sat it on the low shelf and did the last 15mins in the oven as I wanted the pan scrapings for gravy. I did the roast veges in the airfryer and they only took 20mins and were great. I've also done crumbed chicken tenderloins and they were the most tender I've ever had. I've cooked pork chops with a marinade of rosemary, garlic, olive oil and lemon juice and they were melt in the mouth. Chips turn out crispy and soft in the middle with minimal oil and fish I crumbed and sprayed with oil was moist. I decided to get this air fryer as it was the top one recommended by Consumer. It came with a decent recipe book too.

Not all of them have pull out baskets?
Ours doesn't.
