I reckon you can never have too much wool either

| It's so unfair! Work takes away so much knitting time lol. My projects (3 on the go as is usual for me), are not being completed fast enough - I have so many 'nexts' to do. *sigh* nzmu - 2013-01-10 06:18:00 |

| nzmu - you need a job like I used to have, which was really only a part-time position, but the boss insisted he needed me there full-time, so when I didn't have any work to do (which was a lot of the time at certain times of the year) I used to sit and knit, or do my cross-stitch. He never complained. I would have rather had the time off work unpaid but that wasn't an option. kuaka - 2013-01-10 07:13:00 |
| I must have a closer look at Deramores, because I did have a quick squizz and didn't really think there were any fantastic bargains to be had, and thought at the time I'd rather get my machine washable merino from Utiku. kuaka - 2013-01-10 07:14:00 |

| I'm crocheting some granny squares at the moment, just to use up some of my scraps. One of my new year's resolutions was that I won't buy any more yarn until I've used up my stash (well the bulk of it anyway) - as if !!! kuaka - 2013-01-10 09:18:00 |
| I have 3 babies to knit for (all arrive in April) - lucky I still have a bit of time up my sleeve. Am putting the first coat of paint on my craft room walls today (was going to wait and set it up as it is but think it will be easier to do it now). thecritic - 2013-01-10 09:24:00 |

| I'm still working my way through my mother's wool stash (handed over last year) but that also included my aunty's stash , so there's plenty of it. So I might just have to buy some. Apart from Deramore's, which are your favourite wool websites? daleaway - 2013-01-10 12:35:00 |
| I've already broken one of my NYRs which was to only drink alcohol at the weekends in an attempt to shed a couple of kilos. I confess to having a beer yesterday after I'd spent half the afternoon waterblasting the driveway - so that one didn't last long - mind you, one can doesn't really count, does it??? kuaka - 2013-01-10 13:39:00 |
| Apart from Deramore's, which are your favourite wool websites?[/quote] The Wool Company (Utiku wools, Taihape), their merino is lovely, available in 2, 3 or 4 ply and some lovely colours. The possum mix is gorgeous too. kuaka - 2013-01-10 13:41:00 |
| I guess I am not the only one who has said that they weren't going to buy anymore wool until their stash is down - I brought two lots after christmas, one more since being home from holiday and have got some more on order from deramores and a friend is picking me some baby merino up from utiku over the holidays - I guess my great neices and nephews (including the one that is due in June) are going to be kept super warm this winter with their hand knitted woolies. Also can't wait to check out mervs pattern stash when she unpacks them all ! campbellmum - 2013-01-10 15:08:00 |
| ha ha campbellmum, hope you are very patient! I have no idea which of the numerous boxes they are in. Might have to rope you in once we've moved to help empty the boxes till we find them. mervarnesen - 2013-01-10 17:29:00 |
| oh boy - I have never thought of myself as a wool-aholic... until now lol. Other online stores, I have purchased from herrshners.com, royal yarns, artofyarn, pavi yarns and yarn queen. I think Deramores has a lot going for it both pricewise and the site is just so inviting looking! kuaka - I definitely envy you that job!!! nzmu - 2013-01-10 17:29:00 |
| Well I have taken a very long perusal of all the wools and patterns Im after. I have a list. Now I have to sit and work out how to get the most for my money lol.. I agree nzmu the website is lovely to look at. I like the close up view. Its easy to navigate around. I like that it has other options when you look for a certain type. I have 4 books on my list thus far, cos I want to get some wool too. I find trying to get nice wheat or oatmeal type colours and light greys hard to get in the cheaper acrylic brands in NZ. So I have several options written down. popeye333 - 2013-01-10 17:50:00 |
| nzmu - I don't work there any more, that was many many moons ago when I lived in Hamilton. My immediate boss needed me to be full-time to justify his own existence. Everyone else in the entire (very large) outfit knew I didn't need to be there full-time. Boy it was really boring at times, and frustrating because I "had" to be there even when there was nothing to do for weeks on end (like during the holidays in the academic year) kuaka - 2013-01-10 17:53:00 |
| Hmmmmm....have revised the "wool-aholic" title to .... ixcelm8 - 2013-01-10 18:52:00 |
| ixcelm8 - I'm not much of a beer drinker either, the breweries would go broke if they relied on me supping their stuff - but on a stinking hot day a nice cold lager does quench the thirst, whereas a neat brandy wouldn't. kuaka - 2013-01-10 20:49:00 |

| I went off Lemon and Paeroa big time after hubby (who grew up in Paeroa) told me that in the old days the water for the L&P was taken from a well very close to the place where they used to empty all the night carts! kuaka - 2013-01-10 23:22:00 |
| Well I have my order written up. Helped this morning by a notification that King Cole have 15% off too now And I have blown my budget by a massive 38 cents lol.... So Im very very pleased about that. Will place my order on monday. I like that they do Lemon and Paeroa in the sugar free now... Yummmm Edited by popeye333 at 9:33 am, Fri 11 Jan popeye333 - 2013-01-11 09:32:00 |
| I am also a confirmed wool-aholic and have been drawn to the Deramores pull Just cannot resist the temptation. As for the Lemon & Paeroa will have to think twice before drinking it!!! Probably makes it taste that much better. katie381 - 2013-01-11 10:27:00 |

hi armin, yes I have started socks, learning as I go with video tutorials from 'very pink'. I have 3 things on the go as usual and socks are last in line. I can't say that I am totally engrossed with knitting them, but I don't mind. I have done a top-down pattern with magic loop and have got to the foot part, which seems slow (thank heavens I have small feet lol). nzmu - 2013-01-11 17:23:00 |

| My sister in Law loves knitting socks. The four needle jobs. So I dont have to worry about them. She keeps MrP supplied with them. I go through stages of knitting different things. but Im totally into the toys at the mo. http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/249270969.jpg Thats what he will look like. 142 | I must be weird as I found the heel fun and easy - however, there are different ways to knit it I believe. Here's mine so far: http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/249273667.jpg nzmu - 2013-01-11 18:37:00 |

Yes Armin, the place you are not going to look at does sell sock wool - lol. I remember that place in Cashel Street and I particularly remember the knitting, being a knitter myself. It was a lovely wee shop. Didn't see the News tonight. These fires are a bit worrying. Didn't realise there had been one in West Melton. pats3 - 2013-01-11 19:35:00 |
| Hi all... well I just did my order. Two items on back order. Which meant I had to pay a little extra on one book. Gonna be fun when it arrives. Ill have to juggle the wool drawers again lol... Right have to get knitting to make more money to add to my addiction lol Have a good day all popeye333 - 2013-01-12 12:53:00 |
| That Aran armchair looked like it would be fabulous to snuggle into. I don't do the giant stuff, though I own some giant needles so maybe it's in my future. I have however tried the opposite extreme, knitting a square with sewing cotton on darning needles, just to see what would happen. Cramp in your hands is what happens. daleaway - 2013-01-12 13:04:00 |
| Mum learnt to knit on 6 inch nails lol... she would be surprised at the size of the needles these days. Oooh my order is being processed lol popeye333 - 2013-01-12 19:20:00 |
| Ihave finished one sock for my friends husband. I hope it fits, don't know what size he is. Boo-hoo, now I have to knit another one. armin59 - 2013-01-12 20:24:00 |
