#Post

Good Morning Everyone. Late start to the day here. It hit the News that our hospital was on 'Lock Down' last night . Stood down after 3hours.
Family oversea watched it all as it unfolded here in NZ.
It took me back to the Hungerford Massacre in England 1987. It happen as people where out and about at lunchtime.17 killed by one person. A couple where shot in their car. We had to turn around as there where road blocks in to the town.

I finshed one garden out the front yesterday evening, Had rain over nigh. Cooler as well.
I'm knitting a scraf from wool received last year. Mixted colours. Just something easy.

Time does keep marching on.Kiwimade as we all get older.
Hope you enjoy your day knitting Popeye.
Hope you all have a great day.

morning ladies :) It's raining!! wahooooo lol. And it's a good rain too, nice and gentle to soften the ground. Fingers crossed it stays around for a while. Now we wait for the car accidents as the road will be really greasy.

I finished the neckline yesterday and started a sleeve so feel like I'm on the home straight now with this jumper.

Ironing to do and windows need a good going over again (thanks flies...not!!) so will do that while the day is cool and no sun to dry and streak windows.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
A lovely grey day here, with a nice cooler breeze blwoing in the back of the house.
I have to go post a sale today and get a couple of things from the supermarket. As much as I hate giving the owner any of our money, she has the Value drink we like as its sugar free. But at least shes not getting the usual $120ish a week now.

Will finish doing the floors once I have cleaned rolys cage out. He is a messy bird.. I think its time I made a third attempt and a cage bag.. I remember with previous birds it took me a while to get them right.

Started one of the jacket skirts last night and missed a stitch. I hate undoing knitting cos i wont pull it off the needles so I had to undo two rows to get back to it. So today will be plan sailing through.

I hope everyone has a fab day.

Morning everyone.
Another grey overcast day... Slightly cooler than yesterday.. I hope it stays that way.

I didnt get a stitch of knitting done yesterday. I just seemed to be busy all day.
And today Im baking. Going to give the cake mixer a shot at Marshmellow shortcake.. I cant for the life of me think if you put the marshmellow on when the base is hot or cold. and the recipe doesnt say.. Arrggghhhhh..

Second day in a row that our fire alarm has gone off just before 8am.. We have our daily alarm check and wake up call as everyone thinks of it. That goes at 7-30am. But yesterday a car hit a pedestrian just on the edge of town, I cant smell or see any smoke so hopefully its not another accident or medical call.

I hope everyone is well and Have a fab day

morning ladies :) Lawns are mowed, phew, it's getting hot out there now and I have a dahlia to plant. I was given it yesterday by a friend and I was also offered two roses if I came and dug them up. Will get onto that shortly. Heaven knows where I will put them lol... MrK had a look of absolute horror when he heard 'more roses!' lol.

I finished the jumper yesterday and will post it today or tomorrow to the grandkids. It's not true to colour, more a brick red.

Afternoon everyone

Yep Michelle I did it when it was cold, and Im rather pleased with the results.

I finally sat down about 3-30, after doing everything.. Not quite all the dishes but close enough.

We nipped up to Papakura to the fruit shop.. They had watermelon, plums, granny smith apples, carrots all $1 each and per bag. Then came home via Pukekohe to do the groceries. $1-11 over my budget, so Im getting closer lol.. Second week that I havent brought chocolate or Chips lol.

Time for a wee break then Ill put the rest of the groceries away.
Kiwimade I love the red jumper, it will look lovely with M's Hair colour.

morning ladies :) A real pea souper of fog this morning, almost has that winter feel to it.

The Fluffy One is back for 10 days while my sister is away again. Our boy is always pleased to see her.

Windows to do this morning (didn't get them done the other day) as I might as well make the most of the foggy day. It's cooler to do them on overcast days but also no sun to cause streaks.

I haven't decided on what to knit yet but I have been planning an embroidery piece from a photo I took over the summer. I've been wanting to do it for a while now but have always had other things on the to-do list.

Happy knitting :)

Oh flick I do hope you can get afterschool appointments, Missing school will effect her whole life.. So unfair she has managed to get the short straw in a way.

Picked up the crab apples yesterday so will make some crab apple jelly later in the week.
Ended up going to sleep with my book in my hand last night. So no knitting or stitching.
Need to give the yard and gardens a good clean up. . At this time of year I think I want to get silk tree cut out when the leaves drop off. It will live for another year. Would be around 30 years old.

Get some housework done later today and just maybe pick up my knitting neddles.
Going out to dinner tonight

Morning everyone
A clear morning today and a beautiful temp too

Just had a laugh at the birds.. I threw some crusts of a vienna loaf out for them this morning.. Two mynas came in had a poke around and flew off.. too tough for them I guess lol two sparrows came in, and are happily eating. So now Im calling the Mynas "Soft beaks" lol.

A friend gave me the pattern for those stay on booites yesterday. A very quick knit, only 24 rows, so I whipped up a pair as a change from the toys.. Sooo easy, so Im going to make a pair every so often as a change. I used acrylic, cos thats what I have and they only took 12 grams for the pair. So I might splash out on some merino at some stage cos 4 pairs from one ball is a good bargain. Hopefully.. even three from one ball is good.

Ill be in the freezers shortly , trying to make some room for the apples.. Thats a mission in this house even tho we have 4 of them lol.. Then Ill start MrP on the peeling.

Ill cut some fabric up to make hankies for him , inbetween the cooking, which I do in the microwave. Easy peasy lol

morning ladies :) Well MrK announced the freezer is full lol so no more tomato soup making for me. I've cooked and stewed up buckets of apples too and they are all in the freezer. We picked our first big bucket of apples off our tree the other day :) and our neighbour has a tree too. Pantry is full of pickles, sauces, and all goodies from the garden. So worth having a vegie garden.

I started knitting a shawl/scarf the other day using the 2ply alpaca and mohair I bought at the quilt fair last September. It's going to be slow going but I'll get there. I'm using slightly smaller needles as the pattern is for 3/4ply so this scarf will be smaller than the pattern says. Which is fine by me as it looks huge in the picture.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Its a great feeling isnt it Kiwimade, knowing the freezers and pantries are full.. We will finish our apples this morning. I foolishly put a western movie on for MrP to watch as he worked... BIG mistake lol.. so nothing but boring tv this morning lol.

I was given the pattern for these Stay on booties on Saturday so I did an 8ply pair and last night did a 4ply on smaller needles.. Sooo cute the larger being 3.75 inches and the smaller are 3 inches across the foot..

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1002093454.jpg

Back to the santas tho... Also cut out some Hankies for MrP and got 8 for $2 of fabric. And the edge trim Ill use on a quilt type book I got at the oppy the other day. Someone has cut two of the pages out, so Ill cut the writing of the pages off and put a border around the ictures and turn them into small cushions.

Had better get a few things done so I can set the worker up lol..

help! bought a huge hank of wool from an op shop and when I got home and opened the bag I found it was really coarse and scratchy, has anyone got a good recipe for a wool softener, I remember my mum soaking wool in the sink with lanolin and something else when I was very young, but. unfortunately shes not here to ask anymore Im sure one of you clever people will be able to help with a recipe to soften it , thanx

Good Morning kansai, Yes we all at sometimes had wool that is coarse and scratchy.
Has it still have any lables on it or has it been used. If the lable is on check that it is wool or if it's a mixture. Details are on lable how to care for it.
I would hank it and use Lux Flakes, Hair Shampoo or Conditioner. Start of with a small amount first. Ask at your local wool shop.

sunflowers28 - 2019-03-26 08:44:00
14676

Morning everyone and Welcome Kansai...

As Sunflowers said Lux flakes etc usually help.. Those knitted slippers were usually made from the Hard wool with a softer yarn like acrylic knitted with it, to soften it, but also have the strength for being walked in.

We finished the Apples yesterday, so its nice to know I have something nice to have on my weetbix.. For granny smiths they were quite sweet, not too sour at all so I only added a tiny bit of sugar which is good.

Started the third Jacket skirt.. I should have that done today then Ill do the leaves and berries, I really dont want to make them for 6 dolls in one hit lol.

Must do some hunting on here too, I need some cones of white cotton for the overlocker, as I dont see a trip to spotlight happening for a while. But I will compare prices and delivery too

A beautiful day here today which is lovely

Morning ladies, a lovely morning here, slight cloud cover but mostly blue sky and very little wind. We had torrential rain during the night which woke me and it took me ages to get back to sleep so I'm feeling a bit "blah" this morning.

Plan to do some sewing and this afternoon I'm playing mah jong. Have been busy finishing a dinosaur puzzle ball for a friend, as I sold the one at the market the other day which he had ordered. Also need to do a Minnie Mouse for an order - that should be interesting.

No more markets now till 13th April - said with a sigh of relief - I'm pretty much over them at the moment. I shouldn't complain as I have had some good days, but I'm over the 6am starts.

Have a super day everyone.

What a Stunning sunset last night and a real orangy pink sunrise this morning. We have some very good photographers here so Im hoping theres some photos on fb.

I didnt do alot of knitting yesterday, Im just so very achy at the mo. I dont think Ill get much done today either. Ive actually taken an oxycontin which is the first one for a very long time, but I need to get on top of the pain.

The Gollywog debate has hit our area. There was a shop in Pukekohe selling them and a lady took offence and it has blown the debate up again.. I admit I was having fun winding people up in one post yesterday. It seems to do the rounds at least once a year lol.

Izzys mum will be here soon so I better dash..

afternoon ladies :) We've had yet another power cut overnight, we had one the night before as well. Oh well, at least it was overnight this time.

I think that storm is heading our way, we've had some rain and lots of wind and very overcast.

I've started stitching a picture from a photo I took over summer in between knitting the scarf/shawl. It's of the sweetpeas growing against the pump shed and so far so good. I could even say I'm chuffed with it. If it works out I'll frame it for a bedroom.

I am feeling quite spoilt as MrK is making me a gorgeous box for my pins. I'll take a pic when he's finished.

Happy knitting :)

Woke to a warm morning with a little rain. MrP said it rained quite alot overnight, but I didnt hear a thing.

Ohh Flick Im pleased things are happening to find out what is happening with your Girl...
The hexagon is soo pretty... a blanket in them would be wonderfull.

I have to meet the Easter Bunny this morning lol.. I want to have a good number of choices to chose from for our Izzy Girl. lol.. This is Fun being able to spoil a wee one lol...

Bloods and groceries too as per normal.

Wow the Oxycontin did its job , I was a little spaced out for a couple of hours but it certainly took care of the pain.. But it wont be a regular thing, I guess its one of my few fears, my twin got addicted to them and theres no way in h*ll that I want to end up like that.

Oh trust me ladies theres no way I want to get hooked on the pain meds. Ill leave that for my twin brother to do. He does pain patches and all.

A normal sore today which is helped by codiene and panadol..

Enjoyed the shopping for Izzy, The eggs with the egg cups were too big to stand a normal boiled egg in so Ive got a big bunnies and some little wee ones.. I might have a quick trip to the oppy and recycle centre and see if I can find a small basket for them.

Managed to not have any rain while we were out which was nice.

morning ladies :) flick, I love your hexagon! It's going to make a stunning blanket.

I'm heading out to the garden shortly, I have a long list of what needs doing and will pick away at it over the next few weeks. We are finally nearing the end of the tomatoes and cucumbers too.

I had a phone call from our granddaughter the other day thanking me for the hoodie I knitted her. Our daughter couldn't even get a proper look at it lol as granddaughter was hugging it so much. I addressed the parcel to our granddaughter which she loved as well. I think they arrived just in time too as the mornings have a reall chill to them now.

Time to get outside before the rain comes again.

Morning everyone,
A cloudy start but the sun is coming through in patches.

Soo need that your grandie loves the knitting Kiwimade.. Lol I can imagine her face when she got the parcel lol..

The girls should be here soon, so Ill enjoy that.

Then I have to find the charger for MrPs razor, which will be easy enough to find, its just that he is one of those Males who forget they have to actually open his eyes to look, and that its not likely to be on the couch beside him and he may have to actually stand up and move lol... hes always been like it lol.

Had fun talking with the easter bunny yesterday. I didnt get an egg in an egg cup they are too shallow and too big to hold a normal egg. So I got a variety of eggs and will find a basket before then.

I better check a couple of things on here and get on with the day

morning ladies :) Back out into the garden for me, it's going to take some time to do the pruning and weeding but if I do it over a few weeks then the bin can be emptied and the compost bin will be topped up with grass clippings in between the bigger stuff.

The Fluffy One goes home tomorrow, our boy will miss her. She's been here so often it's like we have a second dog permanently.

I'll do some stitching or knitting later but for now, it's outside as it looks like rain again.

Morning everyone

It must be lovely that your boy and partimer run and play around while your in the garden too Kiwimade. It doesnt look too promising out here today.

I have a mess to clean up before I do anything today. one of MrPs bottles of lemonaide got tipped over and has leaked till empty. All over the kitchen floor and in the cupboard. It not going to be an easy clean for me cos the cupboards are very deep. But Ill give it a shot before I "Call and Friend" lol I will take the top shelf out which should make it easier, but bending for longer than a couple of minutes presses the lump of scar tissue against a nerve which is nasty.

I havent knitted for a few days, but it will always be there.

Wont be a busy day today, we have a bag of apples to stew, and not alot of other activity in the kitchen lol..

I might see if I can speed MrP up and then I could get into the cave and get some of his hankies done. My cotton arrived late friday.. Yay for online shopping.

Going to have a word with Izzys mum about the easter egg hunt , I have a suggestion if she doesnt mind me poking my nose in lol

morning ladies :) Arrgg buggar about the lemonade, popeye. It would be like when MrK dropped a brand new bottle of worchestershire sauce! Went everywhere.

Lawns are all mowed, I did the edges yesterday as I weeded. It looks a lot tidier now as I mowed up all the bits I threw onto the lawn. It is neat having the dogs playing outside while I work. Our boy often sits with his back to me, facing the gate, like he's saying, it's ok mum, I have your back. Our nieghbour has been over and picked flowers for her church :) Am happy to share them.

We are waiting for the Fluffy One's mum to come and pick her up. The house needs a good going over but I'll do that after she has gone. I have some baking to do for our son as he's moving in next weekend to dog sit while we are away for a few days so I might as well start on that shortly. I bet as soon as the bikkies are cooked she will arrive lol.

MrK made me a box, well he was making a small box and wondering what to do with it so I scored it lol. I put a bit of felt in the bottom and it fits my pins beautifully. I think I'll make a pin cushion to sit in the lid for when it's open. I'll post a pic as soon as the photos are uploaded. There's quite a few to upload as I've been having my cuppa on the steps taking photos of the birds in the bird bath. We have a piwakawaka (fantail) in the garden but it was too quick for me to take a photo.

Knitting or stitching later this afternoon.

Happy knitting :)

Ohh thats a lovely pin box Kiwimade, you have averyb talented man there.

Sadly many years ago one of MrPs nephews shot a fantail.. Totally unintensional.. We were at the dump shooting targets and the nephew was shaking so much he missed the stationery targets and got the fantail. It upset him so much that he sat and watched, cos he didnt want to do it again. Took him a long time before he would shoot again.

We have done the apples.. They were Ballarat Apples. Which I had never heard of. So I googled it.. Yes they are Australian, but an aweome little cooking apple. They fluff up nicely when done in the microwave. But in the information it says they are tart.... they sure are lol.. I put three times the amount of sugar I used for the last apples we did, and they still have a sharp sting in the tail lol.

Trotters are on for MrPs tea tonight so hes a happy chappy lol

No carton, it's all timber. The dark timber is Tasmanian Ash from a tree that fell down during a storm. When sanded and polished, it looks like leather or marble!

Popeye, our apple tree is Ballarat :) It's similar to a Granny Smith and cooks up beautifully. We love the tartness no sugar here! :P

The Fluffy One is still here and goes home today.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Wow Kiwimade your brave lol... I dont mind tart but they need sugar for me lol.

Wet and windy here too. Its really poured down at 6-40am, thankfully just after I went and took the rubbish bag off the recycle bin, its a nuisance haviing to do that especially if its wet or cold, but much better than having to pick up a bag of rubbish cats or dogs have got into.

I finished the three Santas yesterday. Will now do the leaves and cerrys, I know, thats means I havent totally finished but they are an annoying part cos you need to sew them once made. So Ill do them until done, then start on the Mrs Claus.

Today Ill be sewing, which Im looking forward to. Even if it is simple Hankies its still a pleasure to do them.

Stay dry today everyone

Good Morning Ladies. Busy clearing away weeds off the back gardens. Fingers crossed that I get my lawns done before it rains. .Well catchup on inside jobs when rain comes later. Two large bags to go out when he comes today

Finished a scraf over the w/end. It was from a wool swap.52% Merino and 48% Acryile. Need to block it and will put it into the box at the Doctors. So don't have anyting on my needles at present. May make room for my weaving loom and start weaving. It's been well over a year since I used it.

Lovely pin box Kiwimade. He is a keeper your guy.
We have sunshine and not grey clouds around at present so be outside.
Time to move coffee break over.........
