Morning everyone.
The sky is cloud free so it will be a warm one.

I dont know where my head was the other day I cast a piece of the lining for a beard with 3 rows missing. Im not a fan of pulling things undone and picking up the sitches. but even tho it took for ever I did it fairly well. On twisted bit but its right near the top where it will be sewn onto the doll so I didnt bother to try again. Did one front piece and started another last night.

Today Im going to be dealing with MrPs feet they need a dam good snad down... Ohh and I managed to trim his beard with the clippers. Went from the longest length till we had it where he liked it. So its stays for now.

Have some corn and beans to blanch. Mind you the beans May just end up in the pot for dinner lol...
We are having a much longed for piece of roast lamb and home grown beans will go nicely with it.

Then depending on time I might resort the linen cupboard. Im a bit OCD when it comes to the linen cupboard and it needs a straighten up.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Well we ended up going to t he beach yesterday, the waves were rough but omg the water was warm. Two cruise ships lined up at Mt Maunganui and the township buzzing with people.

The Fluffy One goes home today, our boy will miss her. We were watching David Attenborough's Dynasties last evening lol and two dogs were plonked on the floor watching it too. They don't know how good they have it!

I should finish the engagement present today so will take a pic and upload it here. Must phone our daughter and see what our granddaughter needs jumper/cardy wise for winter and if our grandson needs anything too.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Its a pleasant morning today.. and supposedly having a SW wind later so that will be nice.

I have a hankering of knitting myself another cardy.. But I want to at least get the 3 santas done before I do anything else.

Off to the drs this morning for more investigations on the girlee bits lol... not someone one looks forward too so Im just thinking about 11 am onwards cos it will be over and done with by then lol..

I cooked the piece of lamb we had in the cooker I got for christmas and ohh it came out beautiful. And super crisp roast veges too.

I have half a supermarket bag of scarlet runners to freeze later. Izzys siblings and her picked the beans that had regrown at the house they moved from in december. Her mum and I are both having trouble with the lack of freezer space. I gave her 3 ice cream containers of blackberries and Im sure I heard the freezer sigh of releif, but some will be used again today lol.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) I'm off to buy more petrol for the mower shortly and then mow the lawn while the morning is cool. Fog this morning so a definite nip in the air for now.

Here's the engagement pressie I've finished, I love it and I hope she will too. MrK has suggested I stitch another piece for a friend who is moving away so I started a small piece on the left over fabric. The thread I used was bought by mistake, I wanted to use it for crochet but it was too soft. Perfect for hardanger though and I have heaps left over.

First of all going to shower mum then hang out washing then deal too the branches, mum will sit outside in the fresh air and watch me. Wow kiwimade that engagement present you have made is gorgeous you have done a wonderful job, im sure the couple will love it. Knitting group this morning but giving it a miss today. Will go to my gym class later today and later pickup some meds.
In the mean time I started cleaning the house as I have let some jobs go, so it keep me busy.
Did a few rows of knitting last night.

Love the piece of hardanger you pput up for us to see. Thanks Kiwimade for sharing it with us Have you had any rain? Heard it dry over in Morrinsville.

morning ladies :) We had a teeeeny tiny amount of rain yesterday, you could barely feel it and it dried up as soon as it hit the ground. I don't know about Morrinsville, sunflowers. But the cloud cover was very welcome as it made a lovely cool morning.

Thank you for the kind comments about the hardanger :) I am quite chuffed with it. And that's a good idea mica, to include washing instructions, I'll do that. I'd be gutted if what happened to you, happened to me. I bet you were too.

Just as well I spoke to our daughter about knitting for the grandies... I was going to knit size 6 and add a bit more for length for our granddaughter but she is wearing size 7 now. I'll start looking through patterns soon.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Ive been out and tied up the blackberries so the lawnmowers dont reach them tomorrow.. And did our first pick too.. Not quite enough to cover the bottom of an ice cream container. But some of them are very big which is cool too.. I love how they are orderly and ripen from the one at the very tip of the bunch first. Picked up some more passionfruit. they are coming to an end.. And then will feed it for the coming winter.

Got the beans frozen yesterday, and bagged up the corn I did the other day. Will have to limit the meat buying this week, or there wont be room for the blackberries lol.

I noticed yesterday that our grandie who is only just over four is shooting up. Shes already in size 7 clothes. But its only for the length. Shes not fat by any means but long. She had a dress on which is rare for her.

She loved the new jigsaws,, a fair bit harder than the other one we have but with some coaching she got it done. So it will get easier as she learns what it id.. She was already doing the alphabet one when I came out of the loo but when she started the Numbers one and made her really look at the picture first.. And she did that one faster. I cant help myself I like educational toys lol

Got some more socks from our SIL yesterday with a love book of dolll and teddy patterns. Which I reckon might fit premmies.. So I will check into what size they need to be.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning everyone

We had an awesome foggy start to the day. So thick that we couldnt see the Norfolk pine about 250 meters down the road. But its gone and clear as a bell out there.

Yesterday I started in the crates... I was surprised to see how a couple had gone brittle. one is def a right off. So I have some stuff to list and some to go back to the oppies where most of it came from lol.

Shopping and lawns today so Id better get things done on here.

morning ladies :) Now I know why I don't knit in the summer lol. I have a baby shower to go to and knitted a beanie and one bootie (the other one will be done today) yesterday. I was forever washing my hands as they were becoming sweaty and hard to knit. So will have to wash & dry the knitting before I wrap it.

I have a few things to do in town today, the Furry One needs more meds and a few other bits and pieces. Better get moving before the day gets too hot, we're expecting 32 today.

Happy knitting :)

Kiwimade Ive known some who powder their hands when they knit.. That might help.

Currently 26.7 inside and just under 26 outside... Im not looking forward to the rest of the day temps.

Hi Ladies, Well I hit the wall this morning and tears just ran down my face at the start of the gym class. Left the class got on the a bike and did about 20k's and came home.
Yesterday lunch time had a call to say my brother had pasted away on Monday did I know. Checked papers and service is 1.30pm today. Rang around and cost round trip just on $100.00.plus.
So once again I have to pick myself up and carry on.

I'm knitting a extra wide scarf to post to England. Can only do it in evenings. Just to hot here at present.
Good on you Kiwimade for knitting something for Baby Shower in heat.
Just had my lawns mowed and they look good.
Happy crafting ladies.

14567

morning ladies :) I am so sorry to hear about your brother, sunflowers. And as for hitting the wall, it's all part of the grieving process. Be gentle with yourself.

It got to 33 here yesterday and was 32 at 5.30pm still. The Furry One goes outside to pee then back inside for most of the day. By morning tea time we usually have the air con on. It's foggy as heck this morning but that's to be expected after the hot day we had yesterday.

I went to my Yin Yoga class last evening and did one of the asanas (positions) without any props for the first time. So I must be becoming more flexible. I think the bending and stretching I do when gardening helps too.

The roses are on their last flush and the weeds are slowing down now. Will still need to keep on top of them though or next spring will be just madness. Irises need lifting and triming back, I'll have some salmon pink ones to give away soon if anyone is interested.

The second bootie was knitted yesterday so everything is ready to give to the new mum. Back to stitching my next hardanger piece. There's no hurry as our nieghbours aren't moving until June. I've found a photo I took of our sweetpeas I want to embroider so want to get on with that lol.

Happy knitting :)

Ohh Sunflowers these crashes really can hurt.. And sorry to hear about your brother... As Kiwimade said, be gentle with yourself. Do something you enjoy.

Last night it was still 28 degrees at 9-30.. Im over the heat. I took half a sleeping pill cos I couldnt get to sleep.

Im going to put the crates away today, the ones that I dont need anyhting out of. and I need to get everything off the Table. We dont eat on the table, but I like to keep it clutter free... So thats going to probably be enough for the day...

Good morning everyone its a cool day here today we have rain. Hubby has gone to the timber yard to buy posts he's making a woodshed the boys are coming round to help dad build it but that will depend if they can get out of bed lol. Yesterday mum and i went to spotlight and oh my goodness they had a great sale on their value cake type yarn 140grms $3 per ball so my mum very kindly bought me 18 balls of it. Just before christmas i got heaps when it was $5 i plan to crochet baby blankets or even knit it with other strands of yarn for the thick blankets. And in the mail yesterday i got a box of various type yarn of trademe for $10 it was exciting opening it i always get in delivered to my son and daughter-in-laws house coz we are rural and its $3.70 more for postage. Our daughter and son-in-law that live south on a farm and two wee grandsons are coming up to chch today cant wait to see them all. So all the kids are coming round for a roast for tea we will have 18 for tea which includes the 2 granddaughters who are 8 and 11 and 3 little grandsons. I love it when we all get together. We only have 2 kids at home now and they are 18 & 19 the other 6 have flown the coup so to speak, but in saying that the boys always call in every week usually for mums cooking after their rugby training lol. Its a good day to knit i think but i won't get time for that until probably tonight. well, i guess i best get cracking and start prepping tea.
Have a lovely day everyone and take care

Ohh it must be soo cool when you have everyone together 10ofus. and its nice that the different generations help with the workload too.
Ohhh Mum deserves a big piece of what ever is for dessert tonight... So Far I havent brought any wool this year.

Our friend arrived last night with a huge sack of onions.. so you can imagine what the lounge and kitchen smells like lol... So I have to go up the road for honey and vinegar... I was hoping Not to do them this year lol.

Have some stuff to drop off at the oppy, a recycling centre and a friends as well so it will be a busy morning. I told MrP we wont be starting the onions until tomorrow as I have the morning busy and then I want to list alot of stuff on here during the afternoon.

I should have knitted last night but I didnt. It was cooler, amazing what a difference there is between 28 and 25 lol... We have a good wind today so it shouldnt get too bad.

Have fun in what ever you do today

Just catching up with washing my 18yr old daughter decided to tidy her room which i was happy about coz she is a very messy, so hence all the extra washing. When she finished she told me to have a look and i nearly fell over with shock lol you can actually see the floor now id forgotten what the carpet looked like. she has netball trials tomorrow morning so an early night for her i think. I hope you all had a great day today.

morning ladies :) I'm up and about early trying to beat the heat of the day. Last night my friend and I went to the Fleetwood Mac tribute show. I'm not really a fan of these 'copy-cat' groups but these guys were very very good.

hahaha 10ofus, I also have a daughter like that! Beats me how they can be so messy! Your dinner sounds wonderful, it must be a very noisy but fun at meal times!

I have the baby shower this afternoon, haven't been to one for years.

Yesterday my friend gave me some sewing stuff that belonged to her mum who has passed away and in the bag was part of a magazine dated the Queen's wedding showing all the stitches they used on her gown. Just by chance, a British lady posted in an embroidery group I belong to on FB a photo of the wedding gown as it is going on display along with her Coronation gown. Exquisite work, all hand stitched. So I'll scan the pages and post them in the group. Love this sort of stuff.

I'm almost halfway with the hardanger for our neighbor :) Can't wait to stitch my picture for me lol.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

I love hearing about close families.. Ours has always been very disjointed with my brother in the Navy and then the 3 boys were all in Aussie at one stage.

Funny you should say about the Queens dress etc Kiwimade, I found a couple of TV Guides from the week that William and Kate got married and a couple of magazines of when William was just a wee toddler.

We are pickling onions today.. I totally forgot to get jars out before I put the car away yesterday. But After my play on here Ill set MrP up , then get the jars etc.

I better get moving .. Have a good day everyone

morning ladies :) The baby shower was lovely, my goodness there were lots of things given for the baby we never used as mums. Times certainly have changed!

It rained last night for a bit so I'm going to get outside and weed, trim and do all the things I've been putting off in the garden thanks to the heat. My new climbing roses are loving the heat and have gone nuts so I have to tie them back. Can't believe how fast they have grown, I need more concrete reinforcing frames put up to support them. MrK has a secret stash of them behind the water tank and they are nice and sturdy. Ugly as heck lol but they aren't seen once the rose covers it.

Am halfway with the hardanger. I stopped yesterday evening as I had a 10 kilo bucket of apples to peel and cook. So quite a few kilos of stewed apple is in the freezer this morning.

Coffee is finished, time to make a move outside.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
We has about 4 minutes of big fat rain drops last night. I was out talking to Izzys mum at the car when it rained.. if thats what you can call it lol.

Kiwimade we use concrete reinforcing too for the passion fruit and beans. Your right its ugly but practical.

We did 7 jars of onions yesterday. MrB said the skins are sooo tight, its hard work. But he wants them so he has to keep peeling. I will set him uup again shortly.
Froze beans, bagged up passionfruit pulp and got alot of other jobs done inbetween jars.

Its cooler today so thats good.

Our house is going back on the market again for 90 days. Then if it doesnt sell they will take it off again... Getting depserate to sell I think.

Right Im late so I better get cracking.

Kiwimade - have you tried stewing the apples and leaving the skins on. When I first started doing them from our tree (spray free)I started peeling. Husband said you eat them raw with the skins on so whats the difference. Now I don't, only if blemished and once cooked you hardly notice the skins.

carton - 2019-02-18 13:55:00

morning ladies :) That is a brilliant idea, carton! Will do that next time. I have a blister on my knuckle where the knife rubbed lol. I know the apples are spray free too as our neighbor doesn't use garden sprays (like us).

We had this weird looking fly on the fig tree the other day and MrK suggested I email a pic to MPI seeing as there is that white fly in Auckland. They replied quickly and thankfully it wasn't but they told us it was a 'drone' fly, good for pollinating. So I'm slowly but surely having more pollinating insects back in the garden.

Popeye, those pickling onions must be very fresh if the skins are on tightly. MrK used to wear his dive mask when peeling them lol. Should have taken photos, he looked so funny.

Better get moving, I'm having my hair cut this morning. It's long overdue lol but I've been waiting for my hairdresser to come back from maternity leave.

If I was having to do the apples Id leave the skins on too but MrP doesnt like the skins on... odd cos he doesnt peel them to eat them lol. But he does the peeling I do the slicing lol.. I do mine in the microwave , makes it much easier.

Thats what I thought re the onions Kiwimade. Im keeping or trying to keep 3 knives sharp. Have at least 2 more days on them I think.

Ive picked a few beans and the blackberries, a few more passionfruit.

It looks like it might rain, so I got in early..

I have done all the housework so I hope to knit inbetween the onions today.. yay.

Right I had better get cracking too

Art Deco was on at the w/end. Not sure why it's a weekend as It is from Wed last week till yesterday.

Watered the gardens and trees last night.Still working on the back section of the house at present. Have been sitting under the Silk Tree reading or knitting alot. It is only place sometimes that cool.

I need to get some tomatoes etc and make some sauce and soup etc. Crab apples are dropping off, still alot left on tree.
Hope you are all having a great Day. Catchup again soon.

Popeye - I made apple crumble for tea last night and I couldn't see the skins. If I was you I'd do some with skins on see if he notices. I normally stew the apples for a little while but as I was going out I put them on - let them boil and turned element off and let them cook in their own heat.. Think I'll do that all the time in future as the slices stayed whole..

Morning ladies, a while since I posted. (and I've just typed a long message only to have it vanish!)

Been busy with markets, a lot of the time not very successfully, people coming in and saying how lovely everything is and then leaving without buying. Bit disappointing, but I spend the day knitting or crocheting and then don't bother much in the evening.

Had planned to go to Whangarei today but woke to thick fog and very light drizzle so decided not to bother. It has cleared somewhat but is still murky and the roads will be greasy, so I will go and fill the car with petrol and go tomorrow instead.

Went to the club on Monday night to play snooker and because the membership draw was up to $850, and you have to be present if your number is drawn. It goes up $50 on a monday and $50 on a Friday. They also have a scheme where you pay $1 and the person whose number is closest to the number drawn gets all the $1s which have been collected. Three weeks ago I won $47 and Monday I won $50. On monday the number drawn was just one number away from mine. Bummer!

Have a super day everyone.

afternoon ladies :) I was up early again today and mowed the lawn, didn't think it needed much mowing but still got half a wheelie bin full and a couple of catchers full into the compost, so worth the effort.

I went into town later this morning and omg it was busy, can't think why. Must be the tourists. Had a chat to our son who is being 'borrowed' by our local branch of the company he works for for a few weeks and offered him a bed if he gets tired of the commuting.

I did a bit more stitching, it's coming along nicely. I was chatting to my friend about the baby shower we went to and she was disapointed my knitting was the only hand knitting there. The mum-to-be loved it so that's all that matters. But I did wonder if it was a sign of the times.

Happy knitting :)

Housework for me today, our daughter and her family arrive tomorrow and our son is calling in tomorrow as well to catch up with his sister. So we'll have a very full house.

Kuaka, those wins you had reminded me of Dad, he seemed to always win something when at cards or the Club, usually meatpacks or money.

Have my ultrasound today, Ill be pleased to get that over and done with. Gotta have a full bladder which is fine, but travelling over , around a long detour wont be too much fun lol.

Morning everyone

Its Raining !!! yay apart from the humidity, although its only 72%, which is more than enough. lol

Have a fab weekend with the kids and grandkids Kiwimade.. It should be fun.

The ultrasound went well yesterday , a guy did it... And he said he was feeling the pressure to want to go to the toilet seeing how full my bladder was hahahaha... even showed me how full my kidneys were too. So now we wait for results.

Back to the onions today, I think tomorrow might be the last of them.

The building inspector is coming today to check the place for the purchaser.. An investor is interested in it, yay.

Sunday I might be able to start my small change around, I want to get rid of the writing desk and replace it with a cabinet MrP made me years ago. I said to him the other day if I had to grab one bit of furniture in the house, it would be the cabinet. Its plain and simple but ever so practical.

Still no knitting for me.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) It rained yesterday afternoon and evening. It's never enough of course but it's better than nothing. There were a few accidents on the greasy road too. Yeah, it's pretty brown here with fire and water restrictions.

Family are here and yesterday our son called in as well so we had everyone. Was just lovely to see everyone together. Our granddaughter read to me from her home readers, she was so proud to show us she could read.

No crafting for me until tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Happy knitting :)

Morning Everyone
We had rain on and off all day yesterday. Its overcast but not raining at present.
The Building inspector came yesterday, I had know idea as to what he would look at. And wasnt happy when I refused to open the garage door. If I had known I would have put Missy in a cage.
And I certainly was Not happy to discover that he had turned the oven on grill.. I keepo my frying pans in there, he woulc have seen them through the door... hes lucky the plastic handles didnt melt, or he would be replacing them.
We didnt know that the couple who looked last time were coming to view again.. If we had known I would have dressed better And not been half way through emptying the writing desck, and MrP was doing onions.

Apparently there is an open home tomorrow next door ( she doesnt have years of stuff) so I will be telling the real estate lady that Im sorry it was like it was.

If this couple buy them, it is for investment so hopefully we will be able to stay. They were really nice and even asked how I was , cos they came through just after my surgery.

I planned to throw out anything I didnt need from the writing desk lol tywo pens and one bit of paper lol..
I took the wool, well mostly all cotton out of the white cabinet that Im replacing the desk with.. Man there was way more in there that I thought lol.. it fills a 60 and 48 litre crates.. Once Ive done the santas Im going to knit a white cotton cardy.

Today is onions again Day 8... if they dont get finished today it will def be done by lunchtime tomorrow. Im over them, have done 25 jars so far.

I need to sort my fridge out and get some dishes done, and hopefully get the cabinet out, inbetween jars lol.

Have fun with family Kiwimade and Sunflowers enjoy your book club.. Is that the ones you cut and when you open it it all turns into a shape?

MrP's great neice gets married today.. I hope they get a fine patch.

Have a fab day all

morning ladies :) Grandkids fed breakfast, mum and dad sound asleep. The Furry One snuggled up with them. They all go home today and it's cold so not too hot in the car. We have the heat pump on warm! Crazy weather.

I haven't been able to stitch while the littlies are here but I have started our granddaughter's hoodie. It's a pattern I've knitted several times for her but she loves it. Daughter has picked out a pattern for our grandson so that will be knitted up as well.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Glad yoou are having fun Kiwimade.. it will be quiet when they go.

I sold the writing desk yesterday so have got my white cabinet in the dining room now. Amazing how a colour change makes a room feel lighter. and everything that was in the desk fits in the cabinet apart from the guillotine

We are going to pop over for another two crates then I can start on the cave. I had hoped to have two crates emptied but that hasnt happened.. Sales are slow.

YAYAYAY I can finally make a nice crumble to have on fruit. I found a clipping in one of mums cookbooks the other day and I made it last night.. It was yummy.. I put it on rhubarb and Im surprised there is still some left for tonight lol.

Have a fab day all...

Enjoy your time with your little ones Kiwimade. You can stitch later when they head home..

Popeye ,You asked me about Book Art meeting was of to yesterday. My first for the year. To get some idea what we do have a look at our FB page Keirunga Book Artists. For more to see type in 'Book Art.' I am working
on pages for a combine book we doing for our show of work in August.. We will most likely have two books.

morning ladies :) The family have all left and the house is quiet again. I started vomiting half an hour after they left and then started at the other end as well. That went on until late at night and when I thought I had finished, MrK started. My ribs are so sore! Daughter said both kids had the bug and thought they were well enough to come. So a quiet day for both of us today, MrK is still sleeping as he spent most of the night on the loo.

I finished the back to the hoodie but will go back to my stitching as I only have a bit to do before it's finished.

Happy knitting :)

Good Morning,Rain Rain, just what we need here in Hawkes Bay. Yes, just as they are out picking main crops and fruit. I'm happy with this rain. Just means I will have a good day or two tidying up inside and no hand watering the gardens.
Sorry to hear you both have picked up the bug. Good day to curl up and read , sleep or watch some DVD's.Stay warm. Kiwimade and Mr K hope its over in next few hours.

Yes Popeye we have a great time. Checkup what everyone is working on and finshed work as will.Look at the new tools, paper, cardboards, and other bits and pieces.
One of our member's is using iron for a cover. Enjoyed driving back and forwards over it tomake it flat.
Booked a week in August to display our work and sell some as well in Hastings
Since I have been here in the office the sun is doing it's best to come out.
Time for me to move and tick off some more jobs before I start either knitting or play with my book art.Have a couple things I need to try out as well.
Happy Crafting.

morning ladies :) I thought I was coming right yesterday but last evening I started on round two and am still going. On the plus side, MrK seems fine this morning.

That would be great, thanks, popeye. Do you still have my address? I can message it to you if you don't.

It's freezing this morning, a sign autum is on it's way, I think. I have so much to do in the garden but it will have to wait.

I have a bit of cutting to do on the hardanger and it should be finished today, then I can wash and starch and give it to our nieghbour as a house warming gift. So cool to see families moving into their own home for the first time.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
I think I still have it Kiwimade, Ill check later..

Not good that your still unwell. it really runs you down when both ends are going.

Its only 13.7 outside..!! I said to MrP yesterday my school friend that brought a huge holiday lodge in the South Island might have snow overnight. Not an hour later she posted pics, of the snow on the very back mountains.
Im loving it.. 19.7 inside and I can live with that.

I finished the beard pieces yesterday and was working away on the mostaches to realise on the 4th one I wasnt decreasing enough. So I undid the one on the needles and binned the others.

It was nice just sitting and knitting.

Today Im boxing up the recycles for Izzys Kindy, cos they usually stop in on their way home from shopping, so they can take those for kindy tomorrow.

Im going to have a pie making day tomorrow so Ill cook some mince later and Ill do bacon and egg pie with ham, and sneak in a couple of sausage and eeg pie, as well as the monce of course.
I brought some good heavy oval tins last year and then I managed to findfour round ones too so Ill be having fun and getting them all in the oven at once I hope. And then Ill throw in some toad in the hole afterwards for me

More knitting for me today Yay

Have a fab day everyone
