.Happy with what I done this morning.Just having a coffee while I am on here.

Working on a shawl at present for a Birthday present. Slow going at times. Sewing machine is away been serviced at present. Had to wait while they did school sewing machine over the holidays. Been asked to make some project bags.

As for been on one own, I sometimes would like to have some company. Most of my friends either work or have a partner.
OK the dishes need to be washed and washing hang out.

Hope everyone has a great day

morning ladies :) A couple of weeks flick1, I've been stitching in the afternoons when it has been too hot to be outside.

We both had a restless night last night even with the ceiling fan going full t*t. It's going to be a long, hot and sticky week.

I'm going to try and hire the Rug Doctor this morning as the carpet needs a good clean, it's cream and every stain shows up. It doesn't take long to do and with this weather I can leave the doors and windows open to help it all dry quicker.

A pukeko has come up from the creek to visit lol. Noisy buggars lol but we love them. Just hope it doesn't go near the road.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Ohh Kiwimade that is beautiful.. you are very talented.

Yes it is warming up too much.. But Im quite comfortable in front of my fan at the mo.

MrP decided he wanted to pick up the passionfruit this morning, while I was in the shower.. Didnt tell me.. and yes when i came out he was on the ground.

So Ive have a word with him, theres plenty of things he can do to help, but that wasnt the wisest. I suggested he can go out and using his walking stick he can gather them into a pile, and then hang onto the rence to pick them up or I will. he wasnt hurt, just his pride and I took a chair out so he could get back up.

Got a couple of arms done yesterday, 2 to go. Im loving my wool bowl as I can use two colours at the same time.

Our lawnmowing lady txt this moring to say she was giving herself a long weeke dn off, so they will be here tomorrow instead on thursday... Told her I didnt blame her with this heatwave happening. And I know what its like doing lawns in the summer for work.

Have a fab day everyone

Good afternoon - wow it's hot - but cooler than yesterday - going to turn on the air con shortly - I ran it a lot last month and my account went up $10 so that's OK
Love the cloth kiwimade - my Nana used to do GST drawn thread work.Your story about the pukeko reminded me about a story my MIL used to tell about my old boy - when he was a kid he brought back a pukeko egg and put it under a broody bantam with her eggs - when the pukeko hatched she accepted it but when the chick stood up as it grew the poor old banty used to be suspended above ground - he had it for years as a pet but it got stung by a wasp and died
We have had the run around over Mums treatment - according to her DHB doctor she wasn't entitled to have the social washes the rest home hospital wanted for her infected wound - she is past her use by date - we had a meeting with this DHB upstart and ACC at the rest home - Mum was nowhere to be found next thing she comes scooting down to her room wheeling herself in a wheel chair - she is not allowed outside on crutches and said she wasn't waiting for somebody to take her out to feed her birds - the look on the DHB blokes face was hilarious - past her use by!
Kuaka I thought of you recently a friend of mine asked me to let her grand daughter board with me - I have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and I guess I am being selfish but I would rather be on my own
Popeye are you pleased with your new beater

woahhhh it's 33 degrees :P Carpet has been cleaned (love the Rug Doc, it's cheap and works) and is drying quickly with the doors and windows open. Seeing as the carpet was wet and it was too hot to be outside, we popped over to Tauranga and went out for lunch. Scallops and a salad... the Mitre 10 cafes are pretty good and they made a mean iced coffee too. Called into the Bernina shop and bought some more fabric. MrK looked at the sewing machines and nearly died at the prices lol. Told him they were expensive. I'm a Janome girl so didn't look too hard at the Berninas.

Omgg Gerry, your mother is an absolute hoot! Would loved to have seen that bloke's face lol.

Right-o, time to crack open an ice cold blackberry cider.

Morning everyone

Kiwimade is it foggy down there this morning?

Yesterday was an absolute stinker heatwise. Funny tho I was Down more the day before... Its nice at the mo... does anyone know how long this heatwave is meant to last?

Im a Janome girl too Kiwimade. I have a little Janome New Home that Ive had since 1995 and I love it. Several years ago I thought it was dying, I was doing curtains and it was going sooo slow... I had never noticed there was a switch on the edge of the foot for different speeds. We had moved and I think it must have got knocked on the move. lol. My Overlocker is a brother tho.

I only did one arm yesterday..

Im off to the drs today with my list. MrP will be at home waiting for St Johns to come and check the medical alarm. So he will be able to keep the doors and windows open.

Ive been doing my annual /2 year annual check on phone and power prices and have managed to shave $35 off a month. I will be talking to insurance companies later to see if we are still getting a good deal on those.

Gerry Id love to adopt your Mum she sounds such a hard case..lol

Have a fab day everyone

Good Morning Everyone. Oh dear the staff will have their work cut out with your mum getting around in the w/chair. Good on her let her enjoy herself. She is past her use by date! Let her do what she wants do she happy.

When Mr M went into PA,they lost Mr S the next day. Social Worker and I picked up our coffees down at Ahuriri and headed on to PA. Bedroom bed not maded,w/chair still in his room. Check bathroom and headed back to the main office. Staff checked sitting rooms, his room. Still no show. Me crying,S/worker thinking about ring the police. 10 mins went by. We started to walk the passages again and found another sitting room doors wide open. Walked around outside still sign of him. Just after that we started made our way back up passage and a voice called out to us. He taked himself around the village and looking at the gardens. Yes it was a long 25mins. He just wanted in his own time to have a look around. I still see the that s/worker many times since.

It's going to be along day out watering the gardens 6.30 and cleaning up around the berry bushes. No berries as I did have any netting to cover the bushes. Off out to finish the cleaning around area.

Talking about sewing machines, I have my mother's Bernine machine. That would be over 50 years old. Just waitng to have it checked over.
Also have a Singer Machine which I brought 15 years ago and just love it.

Time I finished that garden patch before they come to mow the lawns
Have a great day everyone.

morning ladies :) No fog this morning, popeye but omg it is hot. Was 24 at 7.00am and getting hotter. Hose is back on the garden to water in more plants I planted this morning. The garden has different aged plants but next summer it should all even out and the bigger gaps filled in as they grow.

I've been into town to pick up MrK's meds, was very quiet. I guess all the sensible people are out of the heat.

Happy knitting :)

Afternoon everyone,
What a ghastly day it was heat wise yesterday.. Not alot better this morning...Although we had Fog here early.

Wanted to get out and back before it got too hot today so left home at 7am. had bloods, and then finally some xrays on my back and got the groceries. It was the last of my stock up shops, last week cleaners, this week baking paper, tinfoil, bags etc... So it should be cheaper for a couple of months now.

Got back and realised I hadnt picked up MrPs pills and of course I wanted to get them before tomorrow which is the start of the new year for the subsidies. So went and got those and now I can stay home for the week.

Last week I set myself a challenge not to go to the shops inbetween shopping days. I nearly gave in yesterday, they have a 50% off table at the chemist. But I was good and very pleased that I made it

If I have to break it this week it will only be for some bottled water, Im going through alot at the mo..

Right Im now going to sit and enjoy the fan.

afternoon ladies :) That's wonderful news, 10ofus! And a big boy too :) Congratulations!

Haven't really done much today, the washing was dry within half an hour of hanging it out! The Furry One is camped out under the heat pump (bit the bullet and turned it on) and only goes outside to pee. He must be hot with all that fur.

Yin Yoga starts again this evening, can't wait as my back is telling me I must do the stretches!

We picked our first lot of grapes today, just yummy. MrK only planted the vine last year so we are quite chuffed.

I've started another hardanger, this time for our daughter's best friend who has become engaged.

Happy knitting :)

Good Morning Everyone,Sure hot here now 27c inside and outside would be warmer still. Up and outside to full the bin as I have it collected weekly for now. Out in evenings or first thing in mornings when it's not so hot weeding and chopping.

Had a melt down yesterday at the council office.I written down the details I had to have. So what did I do..left it at home next thing tears just run down my face. A staff member came out and took me aside.
Walked to my Phyiso for my appointment.

Did about 5 rows on the shawl for a birthday present.Have to do more as I have deadline as it been posted to England
Have a great day.

Morning everyone
Its is a pleasant 23.6 inside and 29.7 outside, but its also cloudy, although the sun is just starting to show itself. So i dont hold out much hope for a cooler evening.

Ive had the results from my xray, they cant say if the pain when i sneeze is from a damaged nerve from my epidural but the degenrative shrinking is also now up higher too... So I can at least stop worrying if something had gone wrong, but have to just get used to it.

I am sore from yesterday but I have a few jobs that wont add to it.. MrP has some more passionfruit to do and Ill pack that up, and I have some beans to freeze.

I want to try and knit later.. Its just so easy not to lol.

Sunflowers sorry to hear you had a meltdown, stress and this horrible heat isnt a good mix. Im glad the staff were gentle with you tho.

Have a fab day all

Morning everyone.
Another warm night but at least it was below 30 when we went to bed..lol

A grey sky with theodd bit of blue today, but we have a breeze today.

I have my dishes to do, for some reason the lady that generally does them never washes any of the plastic trays and dishes I use for like bread crumbing things etc.

Then Im going to go into the Sauna,, (Garage) and clear the access to the exercycle, Im lending or hopefully giving it to a friend, for someone with a gammy knee to strengthen it up. Its not far in the pile but I just have to free it up and its right where Missys litter is kept so Ill be able to give that a good sweep up too.

morning ladies :) aww sunflowers, it takes time as you know and you'll have the odd meltdown. Just after dad died, I had a meltdown at the vets of all places.

Lawn mowing this morning, will finish this coffee then get outside before it's too hot.

Had a phone call from our daughter yesterday and our granddaughter received her very first certificate from school, it was for her reading. She was so excited and pleased with herself.

We keep the heat pump on cold now during the day, have decided to bite the bullet and just pay the power bill. Have had a run in with Genesis, we joined then just before Christmas as our power company was merging with another. They wouldn't send our December bill out. Couldn't believe it! I phoned four times and had an online chat twice, still nothing. And a supervisor refused to come to the phone and made the poor young guy relay my story to her/him. BUT they sent out a customer survey lol... when I completed it filled with zeros and my comments were pretty blunt (guys, you need to get your sh** together because....) I had a bill in my inbox within a day.

Anyhoo, coffee finished, better get out there and mow.

Happy knitting :)

Morning.. Just.

I got up at 6am to bake. I prepped alot last night so that cut down the standing time today... Made some coconut biscuits, which are not best to make in the heat, so Ill remember that for next time.. Choc chip peanut brownies, chocolate muffins and two raison loaves from the 4 ingredient book. a uncooked fudge slice And then some scones for lunch.
Needless to say it will be a very quiet afternoon.

Ohh 10ofus, how wonderfull for you all. And what Lovely names for your grand boys.

Kiwimade proud Nana moment re Maddys first certificate..

Sunflowers I had a sad meltdown in Winz whn we went on the pension. It was a couple of months after Mum dying and we were still sorting her stuff out, and the Cow,, and she was a cow at Winz was.. Obtuse.... I dont often take an instajnt dislike to people but I did with her.. Shes retired now of which Im pleased.

MrK's electric sander has packed a sad so it looks like it's in for repairs again. I suspect he will be buying a new one this year. Might save and get him one for his birthday.

It's too hot to be outside now so inside things to do before I can stitch.

Morning everyone

Has been a morning for visitors... and home helps..

Was a super busy day yesterday but Im sure glad I got up early to bake . It got very hot again in the afternoon .. it was 42 outside at 5-45pm last night.

So it took half a pill to get me to go to sleep in the heat.. not a habit I want to keep up but at least I sleep.

Had Izzy and her mum help pick fruit this morning. Izzy picked up the passionfruit, Kym and I got some lemons and I picked the beans while we were out there.. I wont freeze this lot we will have them with tea. Cant wait.

Have a good day everyone

Afternoon ladies, a better day at the market yesterday. Pity they can't all be like that, it would make it really worthwhile.

No more markets now till Saturday, Sunday, Monday. I don't think we have to pack up each evening - well I'm hoping we don't have to. Makes it so much easier.

I spent ages this morning going through my yarn stash, sorting out what I want to keep, what I'm going to list, what I am taking to the op shop and what I will donate to charity. Didn't I get myself in a muddle. Halfway through I asked myself why I was doing it, but it's done now and the muddle is cleared away too.

Got some paperwork to do this afternoon, then I will put petrol in the car and go to the club to play snooker. Mah Jong tomorrow afternoon and Wednesday I will stay home and keep out of trouble.

Happy knitting everyone.

morning ladies :) We hit 40 degrees yesterday at 4.00pm, no wonder we were inside! I took a pic of the thermometer but it's on my phone and won't upload here. Where the weather people get their temps from makes me laugh.

Good on you kuaka for the declutter with yarn. Sometimes you have to make a mess to make sense of it all.

Aww flick, your daughter is having such a bad run with her health. I hope she improves today.

Inside windows and oven to do today, and I have to go into town. MrK needs some bolts for whatever he's making and they gave him the wrong ones yesterday. Will do that shortly before it gets too hot, love how the industrial type businesses open early for the tradies.

The Fluffy One is coming to stay tomorrow until Sunday so the Furry One will be a happy boy. She is so settled here when my sister visits for a coffee she doesn't want to go home lol.

The garden is slowing down now which means weeding isn't so bad. Last flush for the roses before they hip for winter.

Still stitching the engagement pressie for our daughter's friend, almost finished the outline and will start the cutting soon. There's a bit along the sides I'm not happy with so might change it. I'm finding I'm prefering to make up my own patterns now.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

Kuaka its a brave thing to do some culling... Im planning a big clean out when its colder. I have 8 crates in the garage, I know there is fabric, but apart from that I dont have a clue whats down there. And I have to be realistic and cut back to fewer options. im never likely to get everything done, and I dont have alot of room to move in the cave.

Im thinking of having a craft / Upcycling ? reusing garage sale.

Ohh Flick your poor girl and you, I hope they can find out whats wrong.

I agree Kiwimade, we hit 42 a couple of eveninings ago.. I know Aucklands weather is done at the airport. Which in my opinion gives a false reading. Theres often more wind etc and its bare. no buildings and vehicles increasing the temperature.

Ended up with visitors all morning yesterday, so not alot of knitting was done. But Im glad I checked the arms before i started another one, cos I had done enough lol.

I must raid my stash of brown paper and send some to my SIL in the box of goodies im sending down. She bakes alot of cakes and its been quite hard to get good brown paper for lining the tins... Will be easier now that more shops are using them. our chemist has changed to them, and Ill get them for a while but use my tote bag once I have a good supply again.

Have a Fab day everyone

Morning everyone its nice and cool here in chch at the moment im off to look after my grandson Dexter for about an hour while my daughter-in-law take the car to the mechanics, he is 5 months old and so adorable. Then it will be back home to tidy up the house, think about tea tonight. We are in the middle of buying the house we rent and its got 2.2ha of land so im planning a huge vege garden so we can give all our kids with a weekly vege box. We have some veges in a small garden but now we are buying the house i want to turn one of the paddocks into a vege garden, well maybe only half of it coz it is quite big. looking forward to the challenge and also the satisfaction of giving. I have a glut of courgettes so found a recipe for courgette chips with parmesan cheese and you bake them in the oven so i plan to try this out tonight. I took my mum to a hospital appt yesterday and we always like to have a cuppa while we are out, so we tried this new cafe that is attached to the outpatients at chch hospital and it was so lovely i don't like a crowded cafe and this one was so roomy and not very busy. The service was excellent and the food was very nice. well i best get a move on and get my wee grandsons place.

Yesterday I went to my knitting group and onto my gym class. Some of the ladies are stitching while its so hot to knit.

Pleased with our new lawn mowing guy. He will come weekly and do 30mins in the garden as well.

It feels great when you cleanup your computer Popeye. It does not take alot of time either. I clean ours out every month.
Time I moved, the washing will not get dried if I don't hang it out.Still fine.

Morning ladies, what a crazy day here, the traffic is at a standstill outside my place and as far as I can see up the hill, probably about 1km away. No idea where it's all going to park when it gets to Waitangi! I'm staying home.

Might go and do a bit of gardening as it's not quite so hot today, but I also want to get some projects finished for the next market which is Saturday, Sunday and Monday, but I'll have a coffee first.

Have a super day everyone.

afternoon ladies :) I'm late today but it's been a busy day. I wanted to finish the windows (again! blimmen flies), clean the car and get the ironing done before the day became too hot. My sister dropped the Fluffy One off and she was soooo excited to be here. Our boy loves it when she stays and they spent an hour racing around before they got too hot.

I love the idea of the vegie garden, flick. Always nice to be able to share fresh vegies. We swap vegies with friends and there is a local church that does free meals for anyone once a week so always on the look out for excess produce.

I've almost finished all the filling and outline of the cloth for our daughter's friend. Had to unpick a bit but that's ok, wasn't much and no biggie. I must admit, I am really enjoying my stitching this year. Lots of small projects so there is a feeling of accomplishing much. I'll start knitting again when it cools down.

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, well I had a very relaxing day yesterday, didn't really do anything much except sit around and knit. At one stage I picked up the loppers and started to chop some dead branches that have been in a pile for a while but I quickly gave that up as a job best left for Paul when he returns. It was too hot and the work was too hard.

I gave the garden a quick water last night but Grace informed me that we were going to have rain tonight, so it was just a quick drink in case the forecast was wrong. I woke around 5am to the sound of heavy rain, and it is quite cool, and very grey, miserable looking. We've just had another heavy shower. The zucchini and beans will pick up again no doubt and the grass will take off again.

No plans for today but it looks like gardening is out, so I may have to resort to housework and knitting.

Hope everyone is well.

Good Morning Ladies, You now have our rain Kuaka. Yesterday the temp down 23 after 35''s and 40s. It was overcast and raining all day. The gardens got a good watering. The lawns are still green looking after a cut Tuesday.

Had to attack paperwork, so yesterday was a day to do it.You can only put it off for so long .Had some time out. Hang out the washing in the backshed. Picked up my knitting a few times and walked down to the store for milk and bread.

I can across a very interesting piece of HB Histroy last night about the Hawkes Bay. Did not know there was so many children homes and private hospitals around for unmarried girls etc. From what I have readed it was a very will known .At times when out with others they would say that was children's home or that was a home for unmarried girls. Some of the places are still standing today.
No plans at present other than go to the my gym class this morning and my phyiso appointment later in the day.
Have a great day and do something just for yourslef. Enjoy!!

Afternoon Just...

We had some lovely heavy rain just after we went to be last night.. I resisted temptation to go and stand in it.. It would have been lovely.

Up early to go and do our shopping, and it was lovely to not be sweating just doing normal things.

Bloods and shopping done. Im still amazed at what we get for far less money. I spent $104 at Pak n save this morning and $21 of that was meat.. Its soo nice being able to uy red meat again.

Stopped at the oppy on thw way home. our St Johns is moving, practically across the road, so they are having a sale on everything but the clothes.. Got a couple of jigsaws for Izzy to do when she is here. I cant seem to help but buy educational ones.. Got the Alphabet and numbers type ones.. from 1983 but they are still in awesome condition. $1-50 each... An excellent buy.. and she is very good at putting them away in the right place.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) I slept soundly last night thanks to a cooler night and my yoga class. Looks like today is going to be hot again.

Buggar about the treatment flick, but your GP sounds onto it now. Knowing what is wrong is a start though.

I'm up to the cutting part of the hardanger so not much more to do. It will be finished in time for our daughter to take it with her to the engagement party for me.

MrK is out watering his vegie gardens and the dogs are wanting me to play with them - being bashed on the leg with the tug rope is a pretty good hint!

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Just a nice temp at the mo.. but I agree, its clear as a bell out there and will be warmer later.

Ohh Flick just having a diagnosis is great. And wonderful that your GP is going to do some investigations.. I hope he comes up with something nice and quick.

MrP said he had a rough night last night so is still in bed.

I feel refreshed after the lovely grey and wet day yesterday lol.. It was lovely being rained on while I was ggetting the groceries in.

Working on beard pieces now. I need to make sure I pick the needles up every day.

Have a fab day everyone

Afternoon Ladies. It a lovely sunny day. Not too hot. Just finished a meeting with my support team. They have been my rock over the last few months walking beside me.
Was up and in the garden first thing this morning to top up the bin with more weeds. Slowly getting there.

Working on my loom at present when I have 5 mins cleaning it up and will start weaving again. One way to use up my wool. I have not brought any wool so far this year.

Good to hear you have a diagnosis from your doctor for your daughter Flick.
Just having a drink and something to eat before I go into town
Be working I on my knitting tonight.as the Birthday getting closer and scarf needs to be posted by next Firday.
Enjoy your afternoon ladies
Happy crafting everyone.

morning ladies :) No rain here for ages now, could really use some.

Will blat round and get housework done today so I can work on my hardanger. Am almost finished, the 'lacy' parts are at each end and I have almost finished the first end. So it will be all done in time for the engagement party.

I'm pricing large gas bottles and trying to work out how long they will last as we are still 'going gas' for our hot water. We've had two quotes now and there is only around $80 difference in the them so it really comes down to the tradie we like the most. We're not putting the gas bottles through our power company as the debacle to get our power bill was unbelievable. Could just see them mucking us around with the gas bottles too.

Better get moving, coffee is finished and now the Fluffy One is barking at something. Better see what it is.

Happy knitting :)

GoodMorning Ladies. It is a lovely sunny day. Been out gardening for the last hour. It's so peaceful. No cars, kids, no machines just the sound of the birds.
Did a catch up on some jobs yesterday.
Posting some mail, picked up a book to read.
Had to smile when one of staff said, yes I have read it good read. She on to say no guns, fires, sex ,killing, gave a big smile etc... I said it's sounds good to me. good to me.

Visited a friend, had coffee and took off to winz. I waited for her and started reading the book. She was so right.
As it was still warm and the sum still out we headed off around to get some fish and chips. Both had a read and walked and watched sun set over the water.
My friend is going back to do her Masters at our local polytec. It's a one year paper.
Time to move as I 'm off to the farmers market this morning.
Yes! I did some knittinglast night till I dropped off to sleep in the chair with the kntting still in my lap.
Have a great day everyone

Morning everyone
Bit of a mixed sky this morning. Not hot tho. So Im happy with that.

MrP wants me to try and trim his beard with the electric clippers today.. Ive never done it before. I dont even know if you cut up hil against the growth or down.. Im guessing down would be best. But I said at least if I muck it up we can just take it off altogether lol..

Im still doing santas beards, theres 3 parts to each one.. I actually love knitting white and its all garter stitch to so nice and easy.

Hopefully the exercycle goes today.. that will give me access to the rest of the crates in the garage.. But if it gets too warm down there I might end up attacking the linien cupboard.. Im a bit OCD when it comes to the cupbaord and I like to have it super tidy.. Might have a bit of a cull in there tho. With using the dryer its not like we need so many sheet sets.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning everyone
its going to be a scorcher here today i think 28, that doesnt make me happy at all. Im not a fan of hot weather, i ve got lots of washing to hang out aswell. Had our two granddaughters stay last night Skyla-Rose is 11 and Anika is 8. They are both so helpful with grandma (my mum) they both love coming to stay. I made them pancakes with bacon and maple syrup for breakfast, I've never made them before i must say i didn't think they were anything to rave about but the girls loved them. The cardigan I'm knitting for mum is coming along nicely i must get it finished tho its taken me a while to get into the swing of it. I've also got two blankets on the go aswell its a bit of a habit with me having more than one item going at once. Some days i just want to sit and knit and do nothing else lol thats another reason why i love the winter more apart for the colder weather, knitting seems much more inviting to do.
well this isn't getting my washing out so i best go now

hope you all have a lovely day
Take care

morning ladies :) Another hot, dry day here. We need rain, friends who are on rain water are finding their water tanks are starting to dry up. Thank goodness we have our own bore.

I have one more corner of the hardanger cloth to cut and weave, so far so good. I did snip a couple of the stitches though so had to do a quick repair job. But overall, I'm very happy with it. I'm thinking I might mix the embroidery up with knitting/crochet over winter as the grandkids don't need as many jumpers/cardies and we have enough blankets and maybe also do more charity knitting. I'm really enjoying the challenge of embroidery though and perfecting my stitches and techniques.

Happy knitting :)
