Hi girls Been flat out as usual. It has been drizzling a bit at nights which is great for my garden. Veges growing well. Had a broken water pipe and managed to find a new sleeve in the shed so fixed it temporarily until SIL gets home in 3 weeks. These things always happen when he is away. Found some boy baby material I had stashed so am going to do some sewing for next grandson. I like to sew as well girls. I made all my kids clothes when they were small and they lasted longer for some reason than clothes do nowadays. It is nice to know your hard work and skills are appreciated. Going to xmas afternoon tea at a neighbours today. She bought another house on our road and has now moved. Have not seen it yet so looking forward to it. Have a neat day girls. Yes grizzly people are quick to make judgements without all the facts. Stupid woman!!!!

Good on you, cleggy! I love home made christmas presents. A few years ago I ran a course for mums on low incomes on how to bring Christmas back to the basics. We made lots of wee things for presents as part of that.
I'm a bit paranoid about my sewing these days 'cos everyone uses an overlocker and it has such a 'bought' finish. I've never had the courage to learn how to use one.

Don't get me wrong I always finish the edges etc and I agree that home sewing does last longer.

Well done cleggy, I am still working on mine. Hi grizzly, I sometimes wish I had an overlocker but I still get a good finish without one. I am now playing catch up as I have not done anything for 3 days. oh well. rome was not built in a day.

1407

Hi cleggy Welcome. Good on you for making your presents. I have decided that next year I am going to make every present. Now that my cottage is done I can get my hands on everything so there is no excuse. Ha ha. Used to make them all years ago. It is so satisfying. Hi grizzly how is hubby? I have an overlocker at the other end of my Janome. Old faithful but works well.

I have been quite motivated with my knitting the last couple of weeks. Working mainly on wee fairisle jackets and dolls clothes for the shop. Things are selling a bit faster with Christmas and it's nice feeling seeing my stuff sell. I have some lemon knitting cotton to do myself a cardy during my time off, though. Hubby is not so good: his knee has healed well and he has good movement with it although he is still on crutches till after Xmas. It's been a month since surgery with only 2 nights of reasonable sleep because of pain. I feel awful for him being up while I get sleep for work the next day.

You sound really inspired cleggy I am still knitting 2ply singlets in Merino for our new baby due end of March. This is definitely the last one. I will knit the next three in 4 ply. Just wanted the first ones to be finner. Have to really concentrate. They are so soft it is worth it. Sigh. At lest that is what I tell myself. Ha ha.

makerealbany - 2008-12-17 10:23:00
1412

Hi grizzly I don't know how you do it girl. I agree it must be very rewarding to see things you have made sell. Poor hubby needs his sleep. Maybe you can try him on some herbal teas to relax him and give the GP a rap on the head so he can feel a bit of pain. Sometimes men do not let their GPS know how much pain they are really in. Is this the case? It is that marcho or mancho as my granddaughter says, thing. He sounds to me as if he needs something to sleep just to get him back in the rythym again.

What are we up to today? This morning, Babysitting and housework. Then this arvo we have to undercoat the bookshelves for the hallway and they are b----ig. Got to be painted and put back before daughter goes to Aussi to her brothers next Tuesday. The books are stacked in the hallway and baby thinks they are all hers. Lol.

Good morning ladies, I too am babysitting this morning. I have another bug and have a doctors appointment tomorrow. This morning I have an ache in my right lung?? area, so I hope it is not too serious. Its not that bad that it is stopping me from doing things but I can feel it. I bet your wee one is having a great time with the books. My miss 1 ripped her first book this morning. I was just saying how good she was.

Had a photo sent to me this morning via the 'net from his very proud mum - Baby B is sitting up on his own. He turned 6 months on Monday, how time flies?!
I wish I was babysitting this morning, you lucky ladies! All our programmes finished yesterday so today is clean up day. Yesterday I defrosted the freezer at work in between doing the wages and holiday pay etc. Thank goodness women can multi task. The third reasonable night last night for hubby. It seems every 2nd night is working at the moment. Better than none.

Ouch, everything hurts now!! I got the kitchen to clean, so defrosted the freezer, cleaned the fridge and oven inside and out plus the microwave and the all the walls, cupboards etc. I have muscles on muscles! We may have turned a corner with the sleeping, cross fingers. He was only up once for a short time last night, yahoo!
Physio concerned about him having having pins and needles in his heel so we have to mention that to the surgeon when we see him. Not sure why his thigh muscle is locked in spasm all thev time either. Another mystery to be solved.

Lovely day yesterday with all my grandsons here at once for the day. Their mums took hubby to one of the malls while I stayed with the boys. Silly people they all came back stressed to the max! While I had a lovely time. The weather is being a pain right now as I have a big family Christmas dinner here on Xmas Eve and really need to tidy up both inside and out before then. What have you all asked SAnta for?

We had all the grandkids party yesterday at my sons place. it is so wonderful to see them all together having so much fun. Even though they are all ages they just love each other so much. But the one who had the most fun was Miss 18 months. She was the "belle" of the ball. Must be her name. Miss H prefers being with only a few people and then she shines.

Hi girls Everyone is so busy. Great about hubby getting some sleep grizzly. Yes we had another christmas afternoon tea with another set of neighbours yesterday. I popped down to Hamilton to take one grandson and bring back another on Friday smartgirl. Was in a mad rush as usual. Now daughter is loading the car to go see someone else and finish shopping so off we go again. Managed to repaint some picture frames but what with the baking for xmas, not much else etc. Normal chores are a mission. Catch you all later.

Boy the days are speeding past toward CHristmas, aren't they? Got the lawns mowed and all the green waste away yesterday when I got back from working in the 'Patch'. Then we took our books to sit by the sea with an icecream for an hour or two. Last night, once it was dark, we went driving to see the houses lit up with their Christmas lights. Very pretty especially as ours isn't done this year for obvious reasons. Didn't get home till midnight. I must be on holiday!!!

Hi girls Today I was up in Orewa at the gym at 6-30. Then I raced home fed our dogs and cats, whipped down the hill to the neighbours and fed the cats, rabbits and guineapigs, washed the car, hung out the washing. Had breakfast at 10 then raced around making phone calls to GP re scripts, Courier Company to complain about their idiot driver. He always gets stuck down the bottom of our paddock. He turns in there when he goes to the neighbours. We have told him not to but he is too lazy to get out and open their gate. I can drive my car down the steep hill into the paddock but one does it slowly. My daughter got so mad there was black smoke from his tyres all over the front deck and it is a fair distance away. After lunch I drove my daughter and granddaughter to the airport. They are in Sydney with my son and his family for a week.

makerealbany - 2008-12-23 23:51:00
1424

Had another idiot truck driver nearly run us off the road on the way to the airport so rang and complained about him and guess what she gave us the number plate. She was lovely and said it is not the only complaint and the manager rang me tonight to apologize and to thank us for ringing. Ran in to docs on the way home and then shopped for veges for xmas day. Got home and it was pouring and all my washing was wet. grrrr. Fed the animals again and went back to Orewa for tea. Picked up my granddaughter because we have to take the dogs to the vet tomorrow morning for kennel shots and I cannot manage both of them at the vets. Just finished cleaning up the guest room for my friend who arrives tomorrow and feel absolutely b----erd so its bed for me.

Wow!!! I feel exhausted just reading that!
Up reasonably early this morning to get to the supermarket before the rush. There is always the last couple of things to buy last minute, isn't there? Tonight we have Xmas dinner with my kids and their families and my sister and her husband from Wellington. So the work begins! After the shopping it will be an at home day cooking meat etc. In case it's a couple of days before I'm back on line, I wish a Happy Christmas to you all and hope that Santa brings whatever you have asked for.

I am worn out too grizzly, just from reading what you have been up to, makereal. We are having our second family day tomorrow but it will be a bit quieter with out the little ones around. Mr 16 is very sick tonight, so he wont be much fun. He has just come out complaining that he has been in bed for 2 hours and cant get to sleep. As if it is my fault. I hope you both have a wonderful Christmas Day and will catch up with you later.

Well it is the end of another grueling day Got everything done though. Up at 6 fed neighbours animals. It was a great help having my granddaughter. We got soaked so had a shower. We took the dogs to the vet for their shots. Finished by 10 and soaked again and dirty from the digs so another shower for us. Went to the chemist then picked up all the pet food from the warehouse. J'S Dad met us there and took her and our turkey home. Ha ha. I had it in my fridge defrosting it. I have a chilly bin in the car for when I pick up meat etc. It really comes in handy. I was at the gym by 12 then the supermarket, called in to drop other things daughter needed for tomorrow and then came home to see my friend who had arrived from Hamilton. Had afternoon tea then put shopping away, We chatted this afternoon about our younger party and dancing days. She was understandably down when she was dropped off by her nephew(bless him). Christmas time and she is very sick and no bloody kids in sight. We had a nice tea and by the time she went to bed she had been laughing

Another big day for us tomorrow Our family xmas tea. Will just relax in the morning, do the animal chores and then head up to the beach for tea. I hope you all have a lovely Xmas day. We are going to have a great day with my mate who is well liked by my kids and grandchildren. We want her to have a happy time. She used to be the life and soul of the party and tomorrow she will be again.

I had to laugh at your comments about Your grandson smartgirl. My granddaughter tried to bribe me last night with cups of coffee to find out what her parents had got her for xmas. As if I would know. Lol. Coffee kept me going though. Grissly I have a close friend who is moving down South in June. I will be visiting her and you are not that far away.

Merry Christmas Well I am shattered. It was 4am before he finally settled. He was really sick, we had the works. Hot, cold, vomiting and asthma. I was wide awake till 5am. Luckily everything is at my daughters place and I dont have much to do. I am imagining a sleep this afternoon though. Have a great day.

What a night you two had smartgirl Hope you had a lovely day and he is feeling better. We had an awesome family dinner. Ate far too much pav but came home with a boot load of loot. I even got a foot massager and a techno thingy to plug into my TV with loads of movies already loaded on to it. My sons are techno whizzes. I did not have to cook a thing. My friend and I laughed all day. We did spend a lot of time on the phones to rest of family overseas. By the time everyone talked it was 2 hours in the morning then again in the arvo. Master 5 had to detail all of his presents to his cousins and aunts and uncles. ha ha. Right down to all the xmas crackers and candy canes he had stashed to take home.

Makereal, I am glad you and your friend had a lovely day too. Well my story does not end there. We were not home half an hour and he had an awful asthma attack. I broke all the road rules and raced him to A & E, he really was in a bad way but 3 hours there and he came home all hyped up and is on antibiotics and prendisone. I did not hear him last night but he is ok. Not really a Christmas to want to remember.

Smartgirl, I am so sorry your Christmas ended up this way. Health problems are so unpredictable! Makerealbany, your news about visiting your friend down this way is very exciting!Where is she moving to?
Our dinner on Xmas Eve went very welland my sister, who never had children, seemed to enjoy her time with my 3 grandsons who were all in fine form. My kids and their kids were back next morning for brunch and to open the pressies under the tree. Had a lovely time with everyone pitching in with the work so it felt very easy for me this year. We spent the afternoon at my daughter-in-law's mothers and lazed around playing with the children and eating pav and chocolate!Boxing Day went to the Casino for breakfast with a few friends (an annual thing) and then browsed some of the sales in a much too crowded mall. Hubby came home for a sleep and I watched the Bridget Jones' Diary DVD and did some cross-stitch. Today I have piles of laundry to catch up but at least the sun is shining.

grizzly4 - 2008-12-27 10:20:00
1434

Poor smartgirl and your grandson Hope he is feeling a lot better. My friend is not doing too badly but she tires quickly. I fed all the neighbours animals yesterday and ducked down to the Warehouse early while my friend rested. It was utter bedlam. Albany is busy on normal days but yesterday was hell. I did get all the specials I wanted though haha. I always treat myself to a couple of really expensive house plants from the Boxing Day Christmas stock sale. They are then either 50 percent off. One year they were 75 off. I then came home cooked brunch and we both went down late arvo.

makerealbany - 2008-12-27 23:54:00
1435

It was quiter but still busy Went to Farmers and shoppe up large for the new baby. My pal has a walker and she nearly ran over toes because people just push along and do not think. I even saw Dads walking in front of their babies strollers so people would not bang into them while mum pushed the strollers.. We arrived home shattered so just maxed out today. I even had a nanny nap this arvo.

1436

Sounds as though you had a fab time grizzly. I will ask my mate again where they have bought their land. My memory is like a sieve at the moment. I have to write all the jobs in my diary and tick them off as I do them. My other neighbour flew down south today for a week so I have added her cat and sheep to the list. I am taking my friend home to Hamilton on Monday and then I will have a day to myself before daughter and granddaughter are home. Where does time go?

makerealbany - 2008-12-28 00:03:00
1437

I had a nana nap as well today. Thats why I am still up now. I went to spotlight this afternoon and brought some fabric for a wee outfit for Miss H who will be 3 on Jan 10, and some cotton for dish cloths. I though I might give them a go. Our adult birthdays start on the 12th Jan so I am hoping to add a couple to my daughters parcel. Makereal, I have to write down my jobs as well. If I dont they dont get done.

smartgirl - 2008-12-28 00:38:00
1438

Can't understand how people get jobs done if they don't have a list!! My hubby used to laugh at me but now he adds stuff to my list as well to remind himself! Haha.
Blissful day yesterday. Went to the Mall with daughter and baby B. Not so busy so ended up getting 2 more tops for myself in different colours from the one I got for Christmas. Made butter Chicken for everyone for tea. Cost me $50 for the chicken etc would have been cheaper to buy takeaways, probably but it was a fun night. I have to tidy up (rearrange) the bedroom I was keeping all the presents in today. Which is also where all my craft stuff is. It will be a job and a half!

Another neighbour's son Helped me feed all the animals this morning. Bless him. I will never ever do this again. Walking up and down the steep drive is killing my calve muscles. Lol. Had breakfast, ran the dogs and then went to Spotlight today but only spent $9 which was great. Got extra xmas decos for my future daughter in law at 25% of the original prices. Then went and had lunch at a cafe. Took my friend to the Warehouse and got some more garden pots. Came home, she rested while I organized all the recycling and the rubbish for pick up and then we went up to the beach to my daughters for tea. Got home and ran the dogs again. Have the washing on now as it is a nice night so out it goes on the line. Will be off early to Hamilton tomorrow after I have sorted the animals.

Have to catch up another time smartgirl Will need to rush home to exercize the dogs. They have a large run but all the same they are used to their runs in the paddock. Hope the roads are not too busy but think that is just wishful thinking ha ha.

makerealbany - 2008-12-28 21:37:00
1441

The roads were not busy So I had a speedy trip down to Hamilton. Had a cuppa with my friend and came back home by 3. I managed to get to the gym by 4. Yay. I needed to. Even with all the running around it is not the same as exercising to music and maxing out. I wanted to bid on a dolls house for my granddaughter. Yup I know she is not 1 yet. ha ha. But they live in Deanwell in Ham and it had to be picked up in 3 days so I gave it a miss. I will be down on Sat as my daughter is going to a wedding. I am the babysitter and bubs and I will go visit my sister and my friend who was here wants to see her as well. That friend of mine really enjoyed herself here but I will admit I was feeling quite exhausted. Plus I worried about her when she had Angina attacks and her blood pressure kept rising and so did mine for that matter. She loves to shop and uses a walker but is a rather reckless driver of it. Ha ha. My face was red a fair bit in the shopping mall. Never mind she had fun.

4AM!!!! Is it the weather keeping you up? Or something else, smartgirl?
Too much time on my hands yesterday. I went browsing on TM for wool, fabric and buttons. Went back in this morning and deleted the fabric off my watch list. I have been making children's cushions in the past for the shop with Disney characters etc but it the fabric is getting so expensive now it isn't worth the effort. I'll stick to my knitting, I think.

Hubby had 6 week check up with the surgeon yesterday. Very pleased with his progress. He is allowed to go short distances without his crutches from now on and allowed to drive again. Yippee!
(Although my car is a lot cheaper to run than his!) Another 2 months off work yet for him. Here's hoping he gets back into his cooking soon. Yum yum.

grizzly4 - 2008-12-30 09:08:00
1445

Grizzly, I think it may well be the nana naps, but for the last 2 or 3 days there is no point even going to bed till I feel tired and then I still read a couple of pages, I was us a 9 as well. Must be getting older and not needing as much sleep. Your hubby will feel so much better having his independence back.

1446

Smartgirl Thanks Managed to get the little dolls House. No payment details yet. Was only $10 so I need to bank before you can pick up. Also I need my darn diary which has hidden it's self from me at the mo. Once I have finished cleaning I will have it I hope and then I will give you a ring. Wait a minute I have it in my cell Phone. Dah!!! Nana brain. I am staying up until late and waking up early but I am sleeping like the dead. One of those Mama rabbits had babies last night and they were tossed out of her hutch. Did not know any others were due. Sigh. It was raining of course and the poor things are dead. So I have lost a kitten and 3 baby rabbits thus far. They are home tomorrow.

That is really great that hubby is improving grizzly. Yes some of those cartoon kiddies materials are so expensive. I meant to go to Spotlight on Boxing day to buy some material at half price but I was so tired running elsewhere and I consoled myself by looking at the material I already have to sew. Ha ha. It will be nice to sew little boys things for a change.

smartgirl Wedding in Ham on Sat arvo. We can meet for a coffee. I will have little miss. She is one on the 5th. They fly home tomorrow. I have missed them. She has been asking for me and her Mum has to ring so I can talk to her. Her dad is in the dogbox. Applied for leave had it granted but other pilot did not go back so he won't come home. Missed xmas, the wedding and his daughter's first birthday. It is hard for my girl at times. With the economic recession her guy does worry and I can understand that but I can also understand her feelings after all I was widowed twice and that is what it feels like to her at times. He is only home for 6 months of the year and always misses out on things.
