The fan just seems not to run at all, though I've not turned it on with the whole thing opened up to really see by observation. I need to open it again to compare my fan against one I found online. What are the odds it's the heat sink rather than the fan? This is a laptop.

Eye fillet, naturally, nothing like cow's psoas muscle so rare it's still twitching. ;-) (sorry Tim)

2 X BOOKS BY AMERICAN NUMISMATIC ASS

Is that some kind of Freudian slip, Peter? I know the law is an ass, but calling the ANA that may qualify as heresy.

I'm guessing not because in the time of Diocletian about 3rd century AD 380 Asses would buy 1 Kg of pork.

Perhaps the cartel should pool their resources and make him an offer. I'm sure we could raise $6.50 easily......

We have never had a problem with fakes in both nz coins and banknotes, I guess this is about to change with these being made.

It doesn't look all that piggy like but I guess it was a sensitive subject. They had a whole mutiny in India based on the rumour that the prefilled cartridges for the rifles were greased with pig fat to waterproof them and when they had to bite off the paper part they were essentially 'eating' pork!

That was quite an interesting issue too. I have put it up on the Royal Society's page for them to mull over.

Do Vatican City collectors miss out this time? Usually between the death of one Pope and the election of the next there are special issues of Sede vacante coins for the seat being vacant.. One good thing is that by choosing Francis as his name the Pope shows he loves animals ~ asses, pigs, cows etc.

They're apparently not allowed to do a full run of Sede Vacante coins this time but there will be a 2 euro SV issue, as I understand it. It's been discussed quite a bit at the WorldOfCoins site.

Hmm - what to do about a buyer who starts sending abusive emails claiming I haven't sent him payment details, yet quotes my own bank account number back at me in one of them?

Politely apologise for your oversight but commend him on his ability to get the necessary information by himself?

Ho ho - on experience so far I suspect the irony would be lost!

I'll go out on a limb and guess it's not a terribly experienced trader. I generally resist the temptation to be cheeky when people already have the answer to their question and can't see it. I know I have been guilty of failing to see the obvious myself. As you rightly observed, Martin, trying to lighten the mood with humour may be lost on him/her if already resorting to abuse. If they notice their error, let them make light of it.

I'm sure you know to approach with caution the folks whose default setting is "abusive". Just C&P only the banking details and keep communication to a polite minimum.

Lately I've had a couple of people pay pretty timely, but not send addresses through. By the end of seven days from when they paid I do eventually send an e-mail reminding them that I need an address, but these two both sent e-mails inside of that week asking where their item was, and, oh, by the way the shipping address is.......

Point taken - and I shouldn't have "bitten" in quite the way I already have. In this case, though, I see the buyer maintains two usernames, one of which is blessed with over a dozen red faces for "difficulties", so he isn't "new" in that sense. He has asked me not to forget to place feedback - probably a canned email message - so I'm debating how best to handle that one :-)

translateltd - 2013-03-17 12:13:00
1444

Yeah, in cases like that I have a stock feedback assuming it's going to be yellow and you feel compelled to leave any: Thanks.

If you want to move outside that, I'm sure you'll tread lightly. Facts are always best. I rarely leave anything other than yellow, but I've had the occasional recipient of a blue or red from me try to get it removed but to no avail. Facts are facts.

Of course, you can wait till they leave FB. Normally I post it first as a seller once the buyer has done what they should, but for the confused and the courtesy-challenged I sometimes let them leave it first to see how they are going to go. Then you're one up on them in terms of call & response with respect to editing.

If you leave it long enough, and they post none, once the time runs out to post feedback you can edit at will. Just make sure you've updated your blacklist for both their accounts, though from the sounds of it I am guessing that's already sorted.

How did you ascertain the second account? This wouldn't be one of our favourite name-jumpers?

An earlier trade with the same guy a few years ago, which also took a while to sort. I thought he must have just changed handles but no, they're both active. I don't believe the name(s) has/have come up before.
