morning ladies :) awww a real cutie flick, for the stalls or a keeper?

Deheading some roses today and three need spraying. They are on the roadside well away from the other roses so I only spray them. And MrK and I are going through our fishing gear to see what needs replacing/bought as we've decided to get back into our fishing this summer. We both have beautiful surf casting rods and reels and they are just sitting there. Will give my reel a once over at the same time.

Crafting this afternoon, I found a notebook of graph paper I forgot I had. So handy for making my own patterns. It's a bit small but I can work around that. Still working my way round the outside edge of the hardanger, had to unpick a few times as I am so out of practice with button hole stitch. It looked uneven, then I saw I was trying to stitch clockwise and me being left handed I should have been stitching anticlockwise. Makes a difference to my tension.

Rambling on here, better move and dehead those roses. Coffee finished, washing machine beeping.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, off to the dentist for a check up for me. I have a bit of a sore throat which is a nuisance but I don't feel like cancelling my appointment as the dentist has cancelled the last two because she has been sick. I think my sore throat is just from too much talking and singing last night. It was Mr Ks birthday yesterday so Paul and I walked up to the cemetery and had a drink with him, and met two of my friends up there so they came back for a bbq and we talked, sang and laughed till the early hours of this morning.

Looks like a beautiful day. We didn't get the thunder and lightning the other day and no rain for ages. I'm already fed up with having to water the garden.

Better get cracking.

Have an awesome day everyone.

Morning everyone

Strangley I wasnt as hot as others appeared yesterday.

Kiwimade we miss fishing. Im no good at surf casting so MrP used to do it. and I doubt he could even walk in sand now. Our gear is hanging up in the shed unloved.

I got the cave done yesterday and have cut out fabric for the cage bags.. I will do those shortly.. And theres enough off the end for a vege bag to take shopping.

Im not sure if Ive hurt my back or if shingles are on the way cos its sore the same way it was when I got them 10ish years ago. So Im being gentle with myself cos it involves my breathing. I hope its not.. But Ive got all done that I need to before christmas other than a small bake.

Have a fab day everyone

Afternoon everyone

Everyone must be getting busy now.. I hope everyone is well.

Finally had my hair trimmed today, 7 years 8 months since the last cut lol... Lovely hairdresser who comes to the house.. Took her about 8 minutes lol... but its lovely to have all the dry ends off.. I told her Id have it trimmed every 6 months lol..

Started another Santa finally this morning.. I know I have plenty of time but I like to set goals of what Id like to have done in soo many days etc.

Have a great day everyone

morning ladies :) Looks like we are in for some rain today, if not, then the hose will go on the garden. Thank goodness for bore water.

I'm just waiting for a 'respectable' time to start mowing the lawns. We have neighbours with kids sleeping. On a school day I wouldn't worry as they would be up and about now.

I'll do another 'pick' of the lavender today and hang to dry. I'm drying some sage, rosemary and bay as well.

Crafting later on this afternoon.

Happy knitting :)

morning ladies :) Safe travels sunflowers and enjoy your time with family. Merry Christmas to you too.

I woke to the best news ever! My brother who only found out about me last week text me and wants to call over the weekend. (I wasn't the one to tell him) I'm in tears here, I've known about him and my other brother and sister for 25 years but have been quiet out of respect for my birth mother. That DNA test MrK bought me for my birthday just keeps on giving. This is the BEST Christmas pressie I will ever have! *does the happy dance*

It poured down with rain for most of last night (so much for watering the garden yesterday lol) and looks pretty wet out there now. Today we are shopping (heaven help me, MrK wants to come) and then crafting this evening I hope.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Ohh Wow Kiwimade what a lovely time your having finding your family.. Id be crying happy tears too.

At Izzys party last saturday she gave me a rock, which I kept in my bra close to my heart, It went missing, but lo and behold it turned up again this morning, sitting on the floor by my clothes rack... I never felt like I had lost it forever.. but Im glad it came back.

We too are shopping, and its going to be a day of avoiding the rain. Its rained all night and very heavy too. Alas it would be alot faster if it was just me going lol.

Right Id better look at the bank and see what the finances are doing..

Have a fab day everyone

14363

Were you Local Kiwimade or did you hit the big smoke?

Our trip wasnt too bad people wise... and MrP only came into Pak N Save, I wandered around the oppies by myself.. *whispers* YAY.. lol.

I got some lovely baking books, but I also got four pairs of Large knitting needles.. 20mm, 15mm, 12mm, and 9mm.. $2 a pair... I looked on Spotlights website and it would have cost $46 to get the same ones.

Fingers crossed the only thing I will need next week will be bread and milk and our fizzy and Ill nick up early for those..

morning ladies :) We went to Hamilton, popeye. There was a lot of traffic trying to find a park at the Base but we were lucky, a car started to back out so we got the car park. But there didn't seem to be that many people, maybe it's because The Base is sooo big now.

Housework today and then the sewing machine is coming out so I can finish some Christmas pressies. Birthday and Christmas gifts to wrap too. The Fluffy One arrives tomorrow for a few days so the Furry One will be a happy boy.

Crafting maybe later on, will see how things go.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
We somehow Missed the base on our trip Kiwimade.. Might go back again someday tho.. But then walking is limited for MrP.

Im doing a swap around in the freezers today. I want to get the boxes of ice cream into the fridge freezer. It keeps ice cream at a perfect level of frozen for rolling. Unlike the chest freezer which has it rock hard lol. Need to thin the fridge out too or I wont be able to get the glasses of trifle in there. And that really would be a crime lol.. We only have trifle at Christmastime.

Checked and rewrapped the cakes last night, so thats all done. So now the wait lol... A friend is coming around on monday for our present swap so Ill make her Banana cake on Sunday. She doesnt do fruit cake so I make her a banana cake for Christmas and her birthday.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) The Fluffy One arrives today for four sleeps so the Furry One will be a happy boy. Mind you, the Fluffy One loves it here too.

Pressies are wrapped, the only thing left to do is pick the ham up and I'll do that Christmas Eve. Thank goodness the butcher is on the outskirts of town so I can avoid the Christmas madness. Will prepare the glaze today for the ham.

Our son is coming home tomorrow for lunch as he won't be home Christmas Day. He can have his pressie then too.

MrK is 'playing' golf with his mates this afternoon... more like hit (or try to) the ball, drink a beer and repeat. I'm the sober driver :) BBQ later this evening.

While MrK is golfing I'll get a few Christmassy things done without him underfoot.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
The day has started fine, but a few clouds around now. My grandie and her family are moving today so I hope it stays fine. They have helpers which is good.. We would simply get in the way if we were out there..
And Im having a flat day so its just as well we hadnt offered.

Lol at the Golf Kiwimade. MrP used to play too.. Back when he was alot fitter. Hasnt played since Ive known him tho.

We are going to try and clear out some recorded tv today, so Ill get some knitting done at the same time.

Ill bake tomorrow. A banana cake for a friend cos she doesnt like fruit cake. And biscuits to go on the sharing plate we are starting this year. You give it with baking on, and that person repeats the process and it could end up anywhere.

HAve a fab day everyone

Morning everyone
I had a nice quiet day yesterday. did some knitting and read through a couple of chocolate cookbooks that arrived from TM.

Baking today, just a small session, Banana cake, Shortbread and some cheese biscuits that Ive wanted to make for a long time but most recipes had too many spices etc.. but I found the Alison Holsts one thats fairly basic. The cheese ones are the only ones for us..

Will duck up to the supermarket after lunch for a little top up and them Im done.
Bloods tomorrow but no need to go anywhere near a shop on Monday lol.

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2018-12-23 09:02:00

morning ladies :) I only have to go into town for the ham (ordered from butcher), some ice and batteries for the camera. Will fill the car up with petrol before I leave town and that's it, done and dusted. Salads will be made tomorrow before we leave for MrK's sister's.

So I might have time for a quick potter out in the garden, my new climbing roses need tying up as they are almost at the top of the six foot fence already. With all this rain we're having and being warm too everything is going nuts in the garden. MrK has picked three telegraph cucumbers already and we had our first meal of spuds last night. Some beans in the freezer and zucchinis are being given away.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
The gardens are going crazy Kiwimade.. The tiny raspberry spines we got this year are closing in on and original I couldnt bear to cut down.. The passionfruit are huge and the Blackberries are covered in flowers..

Ive been up and done my bloods, and put the car back in the garage so no temptation to go anywhere.

I have a mountain of dishes to do and then will make the trifles. With people coming throught the day. Oh and the floor needs doing too lol..

I was shattered last night but Id had fun baking, and I had three recipes that required rolling and cutting, so extra standing time.

I hope to knit later..

Merry Christmas everybody - managed to get out of the house today without too much panic but it wasn't for a good reason - Mum had a fall on Saturday night and broke her leg - they operated and put pins in it - she flew through the op much to their astonishment - made me stop feeling sorry for myself !
Hope everybody has a wonderful Xmas - going to my sons -lots of children and the weather is going to be awful so them all being inside is going to be interesting

Merry Christmas Everyone.

Your Mum is one tough cookie Gerry...

We hope everyone has a fantastic day... Izzy and her mum are coming here at some stage today for their pressies...

MrP loved his tin signs and Belt buckle I got when he was in hospital, So that pleases me. He was a Mr Grumpy yesterday, but thankfully better today.

Have fun everyone

MrP cheered up once Izzy visited.. She had been up since 4am the poor little Button lol.. she lasted long enough to openher pressies and show us her new baby, then she climbed in behind her mum on the chair and went to sleep lol.

Im going to have a quiet day today.. I will get my cooker out for a looky and will sit and knit. I did a fair bit last night, which was good. Ive decided to do knit three of each piece all the way so it will be interesting to see how it goes.

I hope everyone gets some crafting time in .

morning ladies :) Omgg lol Gerry, your mum sure is feisty!

Finally have some sun today so going to make the most of it. I'm up to the cutting stage of the hardanger I've been stitching, always nervous when I take the scissors to hardanger lol. I made a mistake with the pattern so made the pattern up as I went along rather than unpick. So it's a bit of this and a bit of that.

Happy knitting :)

Ohh Gerry your Mum is naughty.. I hope your brother will sort her out.. I guess by her age she is allowed to be , but it doesnt make it any easier on the family etc.
The staff will sort her out too, I know the nurses where MrP was were fantastic with him.

I had a nice quiet day yesterday. Finished one body piece for the santas and have started the next.

I got my cooker out to have a look and Madam promptly sat herself in the bowl of it lol.. I took photos which Ill upload later. the little Madam, told her there wasnt enough meat on her to roast her so she is lucky. lol

Have to get a couple of things at the supermarket this morning, and we will go check out the waterfront that they have rebuilt in the Estuary not far from us. Judging by the photos its beautiful down there now.
And we will go Visit Izzy and her family to check out their new house.

Have a fab day everyone..

Morning everyone
Looks like a cracker of a day, but I think if we lose the wind it will get hot.

Went and saw grandies house yesterday. Its good and so much bigger for them. And what I call a Modern higgildy piggidly, cos the kitehcn is in the middle without an outside window and the bedrooms are sort of around it. They still have alot of unpacking to do but its all in the garage so they can do it as they can.

Went to the recycle centre and found a perfect dish for Roly, the canaries swimming pool. So he is happy.
Talking of birds as I stood in the kitchen this morning, the Magpie came back. Was just sitting on the top of the fence, minding his own business and a Mynor flew past and bombed him.. Brave Mynor I reckon lol

Finished the body bit yesterday and about half a leg, so Im pleased with my progress.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) lmaoo Gerry, your mum is a hoot!

I finished my hardanger last night and must admit I am very happy with it. It's a tad big (I knew it would be) for the bedroom cabinet but will be perfect for the wee table I inherited when Dad passed away. I'll take a pic later of it and post it but for now I need to get outside and mow the lawn before the day gets too hot.

Happy knitting :)

Its lovely at the mo, but compared to yesterdaybtheres no wind so its going to get hot.. Says she who is roasting a chicken later , but in the new cooker so it shouldlnt get too hot.

Im taking down the decorations etc today, taking my time cos Im rather creaky. But I hope to reorganise it a bit more as I have a spare plastic crate I can use now.
So Ill check things out on here to give the pain meds time to work.

Took a bit of swearing and unpicking but it's done :) I mucked up reading the pattern so just did it my own way.

Now to work on my honey bee :)

kiwimade64 - 2018-12-29 13:04:00
14386

Kiwimade that is lovely - perfect for the table
Well my Mum is having the time of her life - all the other patients in her ward are mostly young MV accident victims - she is up and down the ward lecturing them on drink driving and speeding where appropriate ! They are a captive audience as most are not mobile but they are asking her about different things - she could have been a comedienne - heard one of them ask her about when she first met my Dad - she was from the wrong side of the tracks so to speak - which mattered back then - my Dad was the son of a wealthy businessman so she has some hilarious tales to tell for sure - he would borrow his fathers car to take is sister into town - but he would drop the sister off down the bottom of the family farm and pick Mum up and off they would go to a dance while my Aunty waited in the hay paddock!

gerry64 - 2018-12-29 17:00:00
14387

Its beautiful Kiwimade... Well done. A little swearing often helps lol..

Ohh Gerry Your mum sounds wonderful. The type of mum I would have liked I reckon.
Had to laugh at the captive Audience lol.. they have no choice but to listen. And if it stops just one of them from doing something stupid in the futre Im sure they will remember her wise words.

I remember when I was in middlemore hospital years ago when My heart first started doing its thing, I was taken down for a chest xray. It was the 8th of November, which also happened to be my mothers birthday... there was a young man 16-17ish I think, with both hands wrapped in gauzes,, he had tried to make a double happy bomb from the fireworks..
He said I guess it was a dumb idea.. I said yes, unless you learn how to do it safely, and become a pirotechnician.. he said I dont think Ill bother with fireworks now.

I think of him every Guy Fox day and wonder if he really didnt worry about fireworks any more. He would be close to 30 now I guess

I have decamped the decorations to the dining table for the next stage tomorrow of packing it all into crates etc... Its all just as much fun as getting them out. I dare say tho if I wasnt Methodical I woldnt like it as much. lol

Its clouded over now and a bit more breeze, but with the sun hidden its rather pleasant at the mo

popeye333 - 2018-12-29 18:03:00
14388

morning ladies :) hehehe Gerry, those young guys will be in tears!

A real peasouper of fog this morning, not surprising after a hot day and cold night.

Thank you for your comments about the hardanger, it was too small for the table lol so now I have it on a tall round table I sit vases of flowers on. Knew it would go somewhere :P

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone,
I thought it looked foggy down that way Kiwimade.. Will be another warm clear day once it clears.
I love that little table yoou put your flowers on Kiwimade, carved wood is soo lovely. I have a carved glory box and a quite a few smaller wooden boxes all carved.

Today is sorting through the decorations and re packing them.. Im going to try and downsize somehow to get more room in the cave.
Ive suggested to MrP that we should pass the exercycle on to someone who may use it.. Its taking up room in the Garage and is currently unemployed lol.

Hopefully Ill get some knitting done later.

Morning everyone

Can you beleive it, the last day of 2018... And what a year it has been for All of us.. Lets hope the new year is alot gentler on us all.. I know I dont want a repeat of 2018.
It may have dragged during my surgery stuff, but I dont know where the rest of it went lol.

I put away Christmas, and spread the wanted bits and bobs out, I thinned it down some tho. I have one box left in the lounge that my Back told me to leave until today lol...
So that will go into the cave in a bit. Then I have to trim MrPs bearded bits and clip his claws, as we tell Missy.. And she gets up close and watches me do it too lol.
Then I will have a relaxing afternoon knitting.

But First Im going to buy me a cake mixer off here.. Yayayay, Ive juggled bits about lol... I have given it lots of thought over the last couple of weeks and have decided to buy what appears to be a good strong machine, and then save for my Dream kenwood or Kitchen Aid later.

Have a fab day everyone And Happy new year nearly lol

Morning - beautiful day here -
Popeye what make are you buying? I have a kitchen aide and they are well worth saving for - especially somebody who bakes as often as you do
Better get cracking and head out to the hospital

gerry64 - 2018-12-31 11:15:00
14392

afternoon ladies :) I've been making the most of the cooler weather and planting and transplanting some plants in the garden. Now the poppies have finished I have big gaps that need filling. MrK is emptying the compost bin and the flower garden has scored big time. Amazing how our food scraps and prunnings turn into the most beautiful rich soil. I have absolutely no guilt about throwing out food when it goes into the compost bin. (not egg shells, meat or bread though and no tomatoes!)

I've finally decided after many, many sketches, what my honey bee will look like and I've also decided to use the thread I bought at the quilting fair a few months back. It's soft browns and yellows, perfect colours. I'll match up some gold filament thread too so it has a bit of bling. Now to get my sketch onto the fabric :) I was going to do black like the butterfly but this piece has a different feel to it, if that makes sense.

Anyhoo, happy New Year to you all and I agree popeye, here's to a gentler, kinder, 2019! I think most of us here have been through the mill this year and I say enough! :)

kiwimade64 - 2018-12-31 12:20:00
14393

Gerry I have brought a Novello.. not a brand Ive heard of, but so long as it lasts a year Ill be happy.
I will either buy a Kitchenaid or Kenwood next christmas when the specials come out. That will give me plenty of time to knit and save, and give me the benefit of the sales too.

Ive done all I planned so now I can play on here then knit.

popeye333 - 2018-12-31 12:21:00

Happy new year Ladies...
Its lovely this morning, cloud over the sun so its not too warm too early.

I swear I didnt do too much yesterday but man I woke up creaky lol... Maybe cos the Fireworks were going last night and i didnt sleep as soundly.. but it will soon work its way out.

Ohh Kiwimade your bee sounds wonderful already.. And yep a touch of Bling will def add to it.
Im up to the neck of the second body, but that will get plenty of attenntion today. Housework, well, washing can wait another day...

One of my Cousins birthday today. There was only 9 grandkids on my fathers side, now down to 7 so I always remember birthdays.. Hard to think Albert is 51, one memory that sticks in my mind is when 4 of us stayed at our grandmothers bedsit pensoner flat Tracey and I topped and tailed in Nanas single bed, My twin was on a chair settee, the only one Ive ever seen, and Albert was on a camp stretcher beside the bed. Nana was on a Lilo on the kitchen floor.. Albert was upset and didnt want to go to sleep So I stretched my arm out and hld his hand till he finally went to sleep... He must have only been about 6ish I think lol... Hes a strapping big man now. lol

Right Im rambling .. Have a fantastic day everyone

morning ladies :) oohhhh a new mixer popeye! Lovely! I had enough Fly Buy points a few years ago to get a Breville mixer and just love it. And now I've inherited my grandmother's old mixer. It's one where you twist the end of the mixer to make it work. It still goes too but I'll get the cord checked out before I use it. I've told our daughter she can have it when they buy their first home this year.

I've started the outline of the bee, there's not as much stitching as the butterfly but so far so good.

Better move, I have some compost to hoe into the garden and some weeds to bin before the day gets too hot. MrK has emptied pretty much all of the compost onto the flower garden. I've been digging and hoeing it in as he empties each wheelbarrow load but there is still a bit to do.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Yeah its funny what gets us excited Kiwimade, I will have to make something on the weekend just to give the mixer a try lol..

I know the ones you mean with the bit on the end.. Is it a Sunbeam? White or cream with the end bit being black?
MrPs neice got his mums Mixer, but it died on Christmas Eve just gone. So it was an oldie too. Shes going to wait to hear my feedback on the new one before she replaces it.

I did very little yesterday, did get the body piece finished, so will start the third one later today. I of course have a one foot headstart lol.'

I have some plastic grid for cross stitch. I should find a picture and do it for Izzy, or perhaps two since she shares a bedroom with her next up sister.. Oneday lol Its not fine work or anything so the eyes should cope.

Have a fab day everyone.. I think its going to get warm

morning ladies :) It's supposed to rain today, will believe it when I see it. The sun is out and it looks stunning out there.

I have finally caught up with all the weeding and pruning and can't mow lawns until Saturday as MrK sprayed for weeds again. The lawn needs a week for the stuff to work.

I might get the sewing machine out if it gets too hot outside and then later this afternoon work on my honey bee. Am very happy with it so far.

Happy knitting :)

Afternoon everyone
We decided to go out early to try and beat the heat... Which we did until we walked out of Pak n Save, and the humidity hit.. was glad it was the last stop.

Im enjoying being able to afford meat in with the shopping. Its not as scary or depressing as it was going to New World here. Got some lamb shoulder chops.. 4 for just under $8-80.. Would have been $15-$16 dollars here.

Have put the cold stuff away and will relax a bit before I do the rest. Coming along nicely with the third santa body...

HOpe everyone is having a fab day

Afternoon everybody - wow it's hot - certainly slowing Mum down and me - arrived home and Ash is sitting in front of the aircon panting so I switched it on - has a letter from Meridian saying my power has dropped 15% - I am on the low user tariff - my last power bill was only $60 which is $40 less than this month last year - so I am sure not complaining - I can use 8000 units without any penalty but only used 4000 which included my heat pump so it's a good deal
Popeye I am biased but most of the Paknsaves are now buying in their beasts and breaking it down themselves which means they can buy in decent meat and control the prices better
Just finished some face cloths for a lady who made me a lovely bead thingee to hang in my window I know I should block them but I am sure she won't notice!
