| morning ladies and thank you for your kind words. Yeah, I'm happy with it, not too bad for my first attempt. Yesterday was a good day for crafting. It was bitterly cold with sideways rain and gales. We even turned the heat pump on. So today I'll check out how the poppies survived in the garden (some are taller than me) and if the weather plays nice will dig out a mondo grass that is invading a tad too much. And I have two ladies who would like bits of my iris' so I'll dig that up too while I'm at it. It's early I know but iris' will survive. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-11-22 07:03:00 |
| Morning everyone I didnt get as much knitting done yesterday that I wanted, but still managed three bits, so it wasnt totally a wasted day. Kiwimade do you miss teaching or are you happy having time for the gardens and craft? Shopping for me today, MrP is on mailbox duty, I have a couple of cookbooks coming and a friend has had her addressed to here too, to save her rural fees.. Mine are the Holsts, hers are Chelsea winter I think. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-11-22 08:50:00 |
| Kiwimade your work is absolutely stunning - in a big black hole at the moment and that made me smile gerry64 - 2018-11-22 09:14:00 |
| Thank you Kiwimade - your work inspires me. carton - 2018-11-22 10:27:00 |
| morning ladies and thank you for your comments about my butterfly. Nice to 'see' you again Gerry, I hope you can post more soon. Yes and no popeye. I miss the challenge of the classroom but I don't miss having kids come at me with scissors or throwing things at me (yep, it happened). The work load was huge and I know there are those out there who think teachers have lots of 'holidays' but I defy anyone to work the non teaching hours and teach a classroom of kids on top of it and not be exhausted by the end of the week. My school 'holidays' was spent in the classroom and planning and in meetings so it was pretty full on. The teacher support I had was low and at one time I had six children needing teacher aide support. I had one teacher aide for half a day and even then she was 'borrowed' every now and then. I am happy doing what I'm doing. As most of you know MrK is older than me and I know we won't have the 'traditional' retirement together . So I am enjoying this time I do have with him as well as taking on the odd bit of work here and there when I can. I didn't get to dig the iris' for one friend and I'm having coffee with her this morning so will do that shortly. I also have to keep going with the mini-mountain of mondo grass. What a mission that is to dig out. It's so dense I can't get the spade into it. But I'll persevere and it will be gone! A bit more embroidery later today I think. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-11-23 06:55:00 |
| Morning everyone Living over the road from a school we see the hours teachers arrive and leave, and its not the 9-3 hours alot of people think it is. And we know they do alot of work at home too.. Its not an easy life, but I dont think people choose the job cos of the hours and holidays, its a calling the way I see it. I fully understand then early retirement thing..Even tho I havent worked for years I still miss the Interaction with work mates etc. Im going to have to look up Mondo grass, Ive never heard of it.. If its anything like Kaikuyu you are in for a job Kiwimade. Lovely to see you again Gerry, I hope all is going well for you. I have the hair and flowers for the tops of the doll and then I can put them together, which wont take long. Im baking today, YAY.. I have a mountain of fruit and eggs so I have prepped, and hope to make, Albert squares, a fruit slice Ive never made, easter biscuits, a fudge slice and a large chirstmas cake. The first 3 from the edmonds book... Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-11-23 08:19:00 |
| Good Morning Ladies. A mixed bag of weather here yesterday. Sunshine, rain and back to sunshine. Good to see you in here Gerry. Time we had that coffee. Some of you know Mr S is older than me also Kiwimade.I have loved what we have done together over the years. So I understand where you are at. Yes, I miss our coffee at the beach and see what going on at the port and out on the water..I sometimes pop out for a coffee and walk back to PA along the beach. Mr S can sometimes hear the sea as well.. sunflowers28 - 2018-11-23 09:51:00 |
| well the mondo grass is out! I managed to dig and pull and dig a bit more until I finally rolled it upside down so I could put the spade through it. It's much easier to move in smaller bits. MrK is very impressed lol. Had a coffee with a friend and dropped the iris' off and came home with cuttings and bits from her garden so they are sitting in a bucket of seaweed fertiliser and water before I plant them out later this afternoon when it is cooler. Time for lunch - we're watching 'Shetland' on Netflix while having lunch. We have been following it for a couple of years now and there's a new series. Really enjoying it too. I should be able to get a bit more done on the butterfly wing too. kiwimade64 - 2018-11-23 12:02:00 |

| morning ladies :) Karate flick? wow, good on you! It's bucketing down with rain so I guess that means housework this morning will finally get done. It was so hot yesterday I had the hose on the garden but it was needed for the new plants. Crafting later I think. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-11-24 08:06:00 |

| Morning everyone So three of us here have older hubbies, theres 19 years between MrP and myself. Its never been a problem for us, but I will say if I didnt have my own health stuff, I have a feeling it would be showing now as MrP ages and his Older person health. I had a massive baking session yesterday, and really enjoyed it. I have made enough christmas cakes now, but all but one is going to be given away as presents so that will be a nice feeling to share. I finished knitting the dolls bits last night. So Ill start putting them together later, it shouldnt take long. No legs etc to take up the time lol I was going to do some weeding today, but its rained overnight, and still is so Ill get a few indoor jobs done Flick I know what you mean about shrinking, I dont have cartiledge in my lower spine, and I dont think I stand as straight as I used to , so have lost 2 inches.. Ive always been the shortest but this makes sure I am the shorty of the family.. My nephew is 6'5" inches, hes been loiking down on me since he was 11 lol Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-11-24 08:56:00 |

| morning ladies :) I'm short too but I was always told as a kid that good things come in small parcels! Another wet day here by the looks of it. Am itching to get out and prepare the ground where I dug the mondo grass out for the rambling rose I have in a pot. I grew it from a cutting from dad's plant. Windows need doing again, we live rurally and there is so much dust and cr** on them from the agricultural contractors doing their thing. And the blow flies are back, a sure sign summer is on the way. I might even do a bit of baking today, two of MrK's sisters are coming for lunch tomorrow and it will be good to have something 'in the tins'. Crafting later today too I think. I've been thinking I could try and design my own piece of blackwork, I'm no artist but I think I could do something. Happy crafting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-11-25 07:33:00 |
| Morning everyone Kiwimade I reckon you could design a piece, maybe start small and grow bigger.. what about stealing a picture from a colouring book to work on and then design your own picture. The last couple of days have caught up with me. I have a stinking headache and achy bones, so Im going to sit and work on the doll. I got sidetracked yesterday and ended up cleaning the stove and benches lol. I cant reach the walls so will have to get someone in to do those. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-11-25 09:09:00 |
| hehehe popeye, you and I are on the same page, was thinking along those lines. Hope your headache is easing :) kiwimade64 - 2018-11-25 12:54:00 |
| Afternoon ladies. I've been a bit slack of late I know. I had a bit of a shock when I came home from the market yesterday, as my stepson announced that there was a leak in the "junk room", and when I saw where it was leaking I said we had better check the sewing room which is directly above it. Sure enough it was leaking in there too. This morning he has cut a hole in the ceiling and found that there is a pipe above the ceiling which a rat has chewed a hole in. Charming little critters aren't they? - NOT. So he is busy with that. Yes Mr K was 17 years older than me, and it wasn't a problem to start with but as he slowed down in the last few years it was frustrating for me to watch someone who had always been fit and active just sit and vegetate, of course breaking his neck was basically the finish of him. I don't have any markets now till the weekend, so will try to get some more things made between now and then as well as trying to keep on top of the housework and do some gardening. Dentist tomorrow and Wednesday optician for an eye test. I'm pretty sure I need new glasses. Apparently it's 9 years since I had my eyes tested and got my current glasses. Right now, I think it's coffee time. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2018-11-25 13:04:00 |
| morning ladies :) Foggy here this morning and I am hoping the sun will break through and dry us out! Not complaining about the rain though, we needed it badly, the maize paddocks were dust. Damed rats kuaka! We have them dancing in the ceiling every now and then so I throw some bait up to them. At least the leak was spotted quickly and can be repaired. Two of MrK's sisters are coming for lunch so we are looking forward to that. Will blat round and tidy up. And I'll do the outside windows today, did the inside yesterday but couldn't get outside thanks to the rain. I'm beavering away on the butterfly but can only do little bits at a time as my reading glasses also need replacing. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-11-26 07:52:00 |
| Morning ladies, well actually the leak first appeared when Mr K was alive and he looked at the ceiling with his fingers and poked a screwdriver through and water poured out but he did nothing (he was quite frail at that stage) and we thought the water was coming from a gap above the window so Paul fixed that when he was here, but it seems the rat thought it was a good idea to chew a hole in the pipe to get some water. So we got bucketloads into the sewing room with just light drizzle off half of the roof. Not really sure why that pipe disappears through the ceiling, can only think that the room was built as an afterthought and they couldn't be bother re-routing the pipe. Grrrr. Dentist this afternoon - just for a check up, but I'm sure she will find I need fillings. Optician Wednesday - I know I need new glasses. Could be an expensive week. It's lovely and sunny here this morning, so I might just do some gardening when I come home, I don't think I will have time this morning, I need to do some ironing, and I want to sort out the mess in the sewing room. It's more of a shambles than it usually is. And getting back to being short, I was always told as a kid that good things come in small parcels, but now I prefer to say "God only let's things grow till they're perfect, and some don't take as long as others!" That usually shuts people up. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2018-11-26 08:50:00 |
| Morning everyone Its funny how most of us are the shoties, and had/have older men. I agree with Kuaka tho its these late years when their health isnt good that it shows at times.. I know Ive had my own health stuff but I do still get frustrated with MrP at times, especially when I know he could make more of an effort and would feel better than he is. Hes a stubborn Mule, rather than a horse lol. Had a very lazy Day yesterday but got alot of the doll done, and Ill finish it today.. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-11-26 09:06:00 |
| Well my plans have just changed as the dental clinic phoned and said the dentist is away sick and my appointment has been cancelled. I guess I'll have to do some gardening and sewing instead. I've just tried to order some wool from Skeinz - what an exercise in frustration. I gave up and have emailed them. The site is driving me crazy. A pop-up keeps appearing asking you to subscribe to their newsletter and if you fill in the details and "submit" it logs you out of the site. If you click on any of the yarns for more info, the pop-up appears and won't go away. Grrrr. I'll phone the order through. Better have my shower and breakfast I suppose. kuaka - 2018-11-26 09:43:00 |
| morning ladies :) How annoying kuaka, I hope Skeinz can sort that out as they will loose business. We had a very enjoyable day with MrK's sisters and the Furry One had their dogs to play with too so he was a tired boy at the end of the day. MrK was very much on the outer with the Furry One yesterday as he caught him and held him while I put stuff in his ears for mites. Even though it was me who did it, MrK 'got the blame' lol. Omg it was funny, it's the first time the Furry One has behaved this way and the dirty looks he kept giving MrK was a hoot. And he stayed close to me all evening, even when doing the dishes he sat on my feet lol. If the weather plays nice I'll be spraying for weeds around the concrete and metal where we park the car today. As much as I loved the rain, everything including weeds and grass grows lol. Lawns to mow too. Crafting later today if time. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-11-27 07:31:00 |
| Morning everyone This morning the older one is acting about 2 on the age scale. Wont let me test his sugars or give him his insulin.... So I told him to pack his hospital cos I wasnt doing it. and when the time comes he can ring the ambulance as well. So I shall ignore him and wont do anything for him... I dont have to put up with this crap. I finshed the topsy turvey, Im not going to make anymore of those ones. They never look right to me.. I was thinking as I looked for another pattern last night, Jean Grennhowe never really made a baby.. theres a teddy bear with a bib but nothing else babylike. Have to go and do my INR shortly but I needed to to a few things on here first. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-11-27 08:12:00 |
| morning ladies :) So much for mowing the lawn yesterday so will get it done today as well as plant a few new plants. Am waiting for my antihistamines to kick in, there is soooo much privett around! Drives me nuts! Doesn't anyone with privet hedges suffer from hayfever?? Yin yoga this evening and some crafting later on today. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-11-28 06:53:00 |
| Morning everyone I know what you mean Kiwimade.. I have the worst sinus infection I have had for years.. Antihistamines arent coping. Im using a nasal spray and a vicks sniffer. Feel like the front of my face and forhead have been ina battle with a baseball bat lol. I was going up to the chemist this morning for their christmas giveaways etc, but I knew at 6am I wasnt clear enough in my head to drive. I finished knitting the body piece of the next doll last night, so Impleased with progress. I put bread on this morning, first time in ages.. I can just smell it cooking lol. MrP's second day without insulin. Hes playing Russian Routlette with his life, but short of holding him down theres nothing I can do. His choice. I know if I asked how he was feeling he would say fine, see I dont need it. but hes refusing to test too, so he doesnt know anything. If he ends up in hospital it will be his own fault. Have a fab day everyone Edit to add... Izzys mum just called in, she got a goodie bag for me from the chemist.. from Dominic Bowden no less lol... Thats made my day that she thought enough of me to ask if she could bring one to me Edited by popeye333 at 9:09 am, Wed 28 Nov popeye333 - 2018-11-28 08:55:00 |
| Morning ladies, Raining cats and dogs this morning.Open the door yesterday and the Florist was standing there with flowers for me. Talking about age, Mr S was 17 years older than me. So four of us have or had older husbands. sunflowers28 - 2018-11-28 09:16:00 |
| Morning ladies, I'm all behind this morning, been struggling doing the head of a horse puzzle ball, it looks a bit skew-wiff to me - Paul says it looks like Mr Ed. Might call in briefly to knit and natter, but have to be in Waipapa (north of Kerikeri) at 12.15 to get my eyes tested. For sure I will need glasses. Puss has a sore eye so I might have to take her to the vet, but it's in Kerikeri so I'll leave that till tomorrow and see how she is. I really don't want to take her today and leave her there while I go to the optician and shopping. Got my stitches out yesterday and the doc wants to see me about my blood test results, so I hope that hasn't shown up anything nasty. Find out tomorrow afternoon I guess. Right, I'd better get a move on if I'm going to knit and natter or I'll be late to the optician. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2018-11-28 10:43:00 |
| morning ladies :) I hope you got your puzzle ball sorted kuaka, mind you, a horse with a skew-wif head could be interesting! It took two full wheelbarrows of garden mix to fill the 'crater' where the mondo grass was (so it gives you an idea of just how big the grass was) and I replanted a rambling rose from a huge pot in it's spot. I have another patio climber in the pot along with new soil. Managed to mow the lawns and plant a few other bits and pieces. No crafting for me yesterday, between the garden, mowing the lawns and Yin Yoga I fell asleep on the couch lol so will try again today. Although MrK has the chainsaw out and wants to 'trim' some trees. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-11-29 07:24:00 |
| Morning everyone I started the skirt for the doll last night, I love doing the picot hem. So Ill plod away on that later.. Getting the two biggest piecesdone first seems to make it fly once they are done. Already running way behind so Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-11-29 09:27:00 |
| morning ladies :) Am a bit bleary eyed today thanks to the freedom campers we have parked on our berm. Around 12.30am the Furry One was barking like crazy and when we looked out the window, a van had stopped in the MIDDLE of the main road. A truck managed to stop in time and another coming the opposite way stopped to check if it was an accident. They were lost and looking for somewhere to park up for the night. So better on our berm, safe off the main road. Housework today and then crafting I think. I sorted out Chromecast last evening, it just wouldn't work for me in the afternoon as I think our internet was dropping so now I can watch my favourite programmes on Lightbox on the TV again. MrK is a happy chappy too as he has a couple of favs as well. With not much on in the evenings, we have our viewing choices back again. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-11-30 07:35:00 |
| Morning everyone I didnt knit at all tho.. Today Im going to start the Christmas process.. Which means sortiing the desk in the cave, cos its been a dumping ground again.. Then to move the stuff in front of the wardrobe, get the christmas stuff out and put the other stuff away. usually I can do it all in a day, But I reckon ill be finished on sunday lol. Right Ill get a few things done on here and then start the change... Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-11-30 09:01:00 |
| popeye, I wonder if you should see your doctor about your sinus', sounds like you have an infection. No point being miserable if antibiotics will do the trick. kiwimade64 - 2018-11-30 09:51:00 |
| I probably should Kiwimade, but I have an appointment booked for Wednesday. Ill hang in there tho, cos I still want to see our dr for other stuff.. popeye333 - 2018-11-30 12:19:00 |
| morning ladies :) Well the storm has hit and the garden has taken a hammering. The Loving Memory rose has had her flowers snapped and poppies are down. It's going to be a good day for indoors stuff so might get the sewing machine out and finish the machine cover I started. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-12-01 07:41:00 |
| Morning everyone. Ohh Thats sad Kiwimade.. We seldom watch the news or weather so didnt know we were in for the winds... Its fair blowing here this morning.. Ive done stage one of decorating the house. Will do all the smaller things today and then the tree tomorrow. The floor looks like a bomb has hit, but no sence cleaning it just yet. Even tho I put a sheet down before i do the tree, you still get a mess. Nice find yesterday, a Skirt Id put in the garage cos it didnt fit last summer, Im now wearing it, so thats a bonus as skirts are in limited supply for me lol. About half way through the skirt for the doll now. I didn tget much done yesterday. hope to finish that tonight tho. Right I better crack on, lots to do. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-12-01 09:30:00 |
| Morning everyone I enjoyed myself getting the christmas gear out yesterday.. The tree will go up today , but Ohh Im in love with my table. Finished the dolls skirt last night so hopefully the smaller bits wont take long. I need to get it done tho I want it for the middle of the month. I hope everyone is well... 14292 | morning ladies :) The rain eased off for about 10 minutes but it was enough for me to pull out the poppies that were knocked over in yesterday's wind. Still raining... sigh... I love the chair flick, is he leaving it natural timber or painting it? Great to see father and sons working together isn't it. :) I'm stitching away on the butterfly, almost finished the third wing. I have some ideas floating around for designing my own work so might have a tutu with that later. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-12-02 10:53:00 |
| Love the chair Flick, a clever son. The tree is done.. 2 hours from go to wo.... With Missys Assistance of course.. She bites the tree branches a couple of times then seems to realise Mum means it when she says Dont Touch.. So she is now happily "Guarding " it as her stool is beside it. So Im pleased thats done. I can sit and knit now without thinking I should be putting it up. Time for a play tho popeye333 - 2018-12-02 13:20:00 |
| Morning everyone I got a little knitting done last night. The main hair piece which I have learnt not to cast off incase I need to make adjustments, and the bun piece which is not quite done.. Lots of little pieces now so it shouldnt take too long. I dont have any plans for the next couple of days so thats my aim, to get as much as I can done. Have our lawnmowing people coming around to give us a quote to get the gardens done, Everytime I feel giod enough to do some it either starts raining, or its too windy to spray. So Ill leave it up to them Hope everyone is well.. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-12-03 08:28:00 |
| Morning , It's sunny today so may do some spraying. Will do the driveway again. The lawns wants mowing so hope the guys come to day once it dried out. sunflowers28 - 2018-12-03 09:10:00 |

| morning ladies :) The power cut that was supposed to happen didn't but I still managed to get lots of weeding done and a plant planted. Warm days and lots of rain equals lots of weeds. But in saying that, my new climbing roses have had a growth spurt of around a metre over the last three days! I picked all my lavender today as it was dry enough to pick and have it hanging in the wardrobe to dry. OMG that wardrobe smells devine lol as I've also been drying roses for our Christmas wreath. Our son visited yesterday on his new motorbike, he loves classic bikes and has bought a classic Honda 500cc. Biiiggg size wise but he's tall and needs a taller bike. I could never get on it lol, would need a step ladder! Crafting later this afternoon I think, we're in for thunder and lightening later according to the weather gods. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-12-03 11:57:00 |
| Glad you have a nice day Sunflowers.. The simple pleasures are the best i reckon. Done 9 pieces this morning lol... all tiny ones ... and the arms are the biggest i have left to do, so I should be finished knitting tonight, depending if I have some games of patience lol.. popeye333 - 2018-12-03 12:53:00 |
| Hi I knit for charity, birth rite, kiwi family trust,Plunket and slippers and beanies for a local school here in Wanganui. Is there anyone out there that is not knitting and would like to donate wool to me. It can be wool or acrylic. donna31 - 2018-12-03 15:22:00 |
| morning ladies and welcome donna31. Sounds like lots of charities benefit from your knitting, well done! Sorry, can't help you with donations as I don't have a stash, as I finish a project I use any leftovers. Have you tried op-shops? More rain today, I plan to garden regardless. Am tired of being cooped up inside. I managed a good three or four hours yesterday but still need to finish weeding. And there's the tree branches MrK chainsawed down I need to cut up into teeny tiny bits so they fit in the wheelie bin. Binman comes today so I can start that soon. I've started on the fourth and final wing of the butterfly and bought a board to lace it onto when I have finished. Am thinking of a black frame but my framer has some clever ideas so will see what she can suggest. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-12-04 07:32:00 |
