I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post
14201

phew... now I know why sewers buy piping lol. A bit of a fiddle but I am pleased I had a go. It's not perfect but it will do the job. I didn't have any plain black fabric to use as a contrast to the cover so used the same fabric. And I thought I had some cord but didn't so used a stiff(ish) yarn which worked well. But it should be nice and soft enough to go around curves without too much fuss.

Lunch time!

morning ladies :) A bit of a wintry day here wind and cloud wise but it's not cold.

We've borrowed a trailer to buy some garden mix, much cheaper to buy it in bulk than bags. So I'll be 'on the shovel' today moving it. Housework too, the Furry One has left nose prints on the windows and the flies are back.

So no sewing today, it will have to wait until the weekend. I haven't done much to my butterfly but am hoping to pick that up again soon.

Hope all is well.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Ive only done piping once Kiwimade.
It was for a CWI competiton.. We had to make something out of a teatowel. I cut the end hems off the teatowel then used that to pipe with a few inches in from the ends, making circles, then I pleated the fabric on the end, and covered two large buttons for the ends making a log cushion.. The long tube type ones.

I won at our institute, then federation leven, which was All of South Waikato, and then it went to National level where it didnt place, but I was just proud having it sent there.
I havent done any piping since lol... The piping was the only machine sewing I did on it too, the rest I did by hand.

Did the shopping yesterday and then ended up going to the Junktion later as they put out their christmas decorations etc. So got a few new balls , some pretty clear glass ones with paper pictures in that light up. I imagine they will look lovely in low light at night. Never seen any like them before.

A friend is coming in this morning, so I doubt Ill get any craft done until later.

Have a fab day everyone

Good Morning Ladies, What a hot sunny day we had yesterday here. Now we have light rain. Watered last night.

We started things moving yesterday and if I can get everyone on the same sheet Mr S just maybe in a rest home on either Monday or Tuesday. It's in Hastings and can just live with it till there a bed in Napier.
It's lovely to have some company. Not sure for how long. Have not asked. I've have left him to sleep as it was very hot coming over from Hamilton. A lot of trucks on the road from Taupo.
Tried and I have not picked up knit for a couple of days. Just maybe tonight.
Good to hear you gave it go with the piping ago Kiwimade.

Plan to cook a Christmas Cake at the weekend and some baking. Mr S has asked for a fruitcake for his Birthday next month. He asked what I had planned for my Birthday at the end of the month. Tears came running down my face as this will most likely the last birthday I will have with him.
Time to move and do the dishes and get moving, Have a list of jobs planned for today.
Have great day everyone

morning ladies :) I agree with flick and popeye, sunflowers. Make your birthdays a good one.

Some roses and poppies to make you smile (I hope). Picked yesterday as it was just so windy and they were being knoced about. Bantry Bay, Raspberry Ice and Best Friend, all pretty in pink.

We're off to the beach today, it's going to be a lovely day and we've been housebound for a while thanks to the big crack in the car windscreen and having so much to do around the house.

Embroidery later when we get home.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Its fine here but windy...But Im in the kitchen again today.

Im sick of having bulging cupboards and a fair bit of stuff that just doesnt get used. So Im going to be ruthless and whittle it down some.
I also want to free up another cupboard under the pantry cupboards for the larger stuff like bottles of juice etc.
So Ill grab a nice thick towel and park me butt on the floor.. We have ceramic tiles and they can get a bit chilly to sit on.

The bonus is that Missy always joins me when Im on the floor so Ill get heaps of cuddles and mooches while Im down there.

Today is our towns Blast from the Past fireworks display.. Thankfully the fireworks only last about 15 minutes but they are Massive ones. Missy will hide under a bed.
Then Unless the police have planned something different there will be an hour or two of cars waiting to get out lol.. I must tel my friend Kym if they need to the loo to come around here, either way the wait will be long, but at least if they need the loo they can come here. especially with 6 kids.

I will be sewing up later in the day. I didnt even get one arm finished yesterday oops lol

Have a fab day everyone

Enjoying the company of my cuz. He goes back Sunday. Busy day ahead go over to a hardware store, them out to British Car Museum. He wants to do a few little jobs around the place for me.
I finished a couple of face cloths. Looking at shawl pattern which I will start after the w/end.
Popeye I also need to have a good clean out in my kitchen as well. So have a busy time ahead.
Need to make a move and get out or day will be over and things not done.

morning ladies :) The Furry One caught the pesky rabbit last night so no breakfast for him this morning. His tummy is still bulging! But that makes 19 rabbits over his seven year life span.

Some embroidery today, but if it's going to be fine I need to weed along the roadside garden.

Lest we forget.

My visitor goes home today, but I am just so happy he made the trip down to see us. He will be back before Christmas fingers crossed.
Busy days ahead this week. Have to see our lawyer and Mr S will move over to the rest home this week.
Did some knitting last night and do some later today.

Hope you all have a great day

Morning everyone
Had an awesome day yesterday. Got my cupboards sorted out and cleaned. Just have the front of one cupboard and the drawers to finish.
Only have a few thigns in a box for the oppy but it makes more room which is good.
Was on fb in the afternoon and saw that our recycle shop had a chair with an electric footstool, so with a bit of juggling my friend Dot and her other frinds hubby went and picked it up for MrP Not only does the foot raise but the whole chair does... Theres only two marks on it otherwise its lovely.
And the grand sum of $15.... yes $15 for it.. I dont think they used the remote long enough to know its a full lifter chair. So he was one blown away man cos he was sleeping when we arranged it all.. and only woke up a few moinutes before it arrived. Told him there was a delivery coming for him but not what it was lol.

So we have an odd chair sitting in the middle of everywhere. but I advertised it on FB. So Im hoping someone wants it. Otherwise it can go to the St Johns oppie too.

Sewed the four arms last night.. Wont get any done until later today cos Im also going to take the car out and get into my big pantry..

I finally feel like Im close to Pre Op in the way of being sorted and clean at home.

Have a Fab day all and

Lest We Forget

Good score popeye, l have a frozen shoulder and got one from St Vinnies recently it makes getting out of the chair so easy.

14216

morning ladies :) That was an awesome buy, popeye and I bet MrP loved it.

Back on the shovel again today. Trouble was as I was topping up the garden with this garden mix I would spot something else that 'needed' doing lol. I'm redoing the path I built for the third time and this time I am much happier with it. Typical me lol. MrK found some old totara posts and I'm using those for the edging instead of concrete fill. Looks a lot nicer and softer and safer if I trip over too. So I have a list of 'needs' for the garden and will start picking away at that over the coming weeks.

Didn't get much embroidery done yesterday, fell asleep on the couch lol. Oh well, no hurry for it to be done.

Happy knitting :)

14217

Morning everyone
MrP is enjoying his chair. Has fallen asleep in it both days lol.. And its helping him keep his feet up which is something Ive wanted for years. Ive tried different height stools etc and he didnt like them.

I got the cupboards finished yesterday and went through the pantry as well. Very pleased with what Im getting done now.
Have spoken to the St Johns oppy they will be coming to pick up the chair and a box of stuff and some shoes, so that will get all that out of my way. We like to support them since we use them soo much.

Today Im clearing MrPs junk off the end of the couch and Ill change the cover too and that area will look nice again finally..
I will make a chair caddy thing for the new chair at sometime. So he can keep his bits and pieces in.

So other than the couch Im going to be working on the dolls..

Im enjoying this, work the weekends and have the weekdays off lol.

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2018-11-12 08:25:00

morning ladies:)

I had a busy day yesterday helping MrK put the wire up for the new climbing roses. It's the wire mesh used to strengthen concrete so very strong but light enough to staple to the fence. Can't wait for the roses to grow up it. And I was on the shovel again moving garden mix. There's about a third of a metre to go. It works out a lot cheaper to buy it in bulk and no plastic bags to get rid of.

I did some more to the butterfly and am very happy with it. I'll take a pic when I can and post it, I'm probably about halfway through the first wing.

happy knitting :)

You have been busy Kiwimade... My wool arrived yesterday, quite late in the day for a courier here. Im pleased, now I wont have to worry about it getting lost in christmas mail.

Have to go do my bloods today and grab a couple of things at the supermarket.
Then Ill be back to doing the toys. Got Santas main body piece done yesterday. Was sitting there thinking, I couldnt remember what he had for a nose.. Id missed a bit so quickly knitted those lol..They have the best noses of all the toys.

Right I better get things checked on here and go out in the wind lol..

Morning ladies, I'm not sure where the times goes these days. I spent the weekend at the market. Saturday was a waste of time, I sold one item for $6.50 but Sunday was better, I sold quite a few things and totalled just over $200 so was quite pleased. I sold three puzzle animals, a giraffe, a dinosaur and an octopus, so am now working on a cow which I hope to finish by Thursday for the next market.

Yesterday I had a lazy day, but I did do some gardening in the afternoon till the heat got the better of me, and then I went to the club to play snooker and came home to find the family were cooking fish and chips for tea. Quite good, I've hardly cooked since they have been here because they both enjoy cooking, and most of the time they do the dishes too. Still be nice to have the house back to myself but meantime I'm enjoying not cooking.

Going to do some sewing this morning for a couple of hours then mow the front lawn. Mah jong this afternoon.

Tomorrow I have an appointment at Whangarei Hospital to have a lump on my chest checked out. It is on my chest rather than my breast, it's a couple of inches below my collar bone. Been there a while but last week was very sore and itchy so having it checked. Doctor said they might want to do a biopsy on it. Son phoned on Saturday and asked if I had got the results of my autopsy. I had to laugh. I said "I hope not, that's what they do when you're dead!"

Anyway better press on.

Have an awesome day everyone.

morning ladies :) It's so easy to get up early now as the sun hits the house around 5.45am. I get so much done in the cool part of the morning.

The huge cruise ship Majestic Princess was berthed at Mt Maunganui yesterday, she was massive! It was too nice a day to be at home yesterday so went to the beach. The water is warming up :) and as the teachers were on strike there were quite a few kids and grandparents around too.

I did a bit more on the butterfly, still haven't taken a pic, must do that. I'm very happy with it.

I wonder too flick, if you chase up that diagnosis. It certainly can't hurt that's for sure and it will be another thing to tick off the list.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Looks like we will have a beuatiful but probably warm day.

I finished Santa last night.. well I have to glue his belt buckle on. Ive never been happy with the knitted one, so cut one out of a nice yellow gold piece of felt.
So will start on Mrs Claus today.

I lifted more than I should have yesterday so was quite sore last night, so have taken the first codiene Ive had in quite a while..
So will take things a bit easier today.

MrP has said he would like to go to Hamilton to the Newstead cemetary to visit his mum. So we will do that in about a month.. I will have to look at the map cos I understand there is a by-pass but not sure where it comes out at the other end, well even where it starts lol. A long time since we have been down that way.. it will be hard on him, pain wise but he needs to do it.

Have a fab day everyone

The by passes are pretty easy to follow but you need to be on the road that leads to Morrinsville. Have him take some pain relief before you leave even if he doesn't need it. Should help with those aches and pains form sitting in the car.

morning ladies :) Buggar sunflowers, it seems you are getting the run-around with MrS and hospital beds. I hope this move does happen on Friday for you both.

I'm going to be out and about today, groceries, Bunnings, all the usual suspects.

I took pics of the butterfly embroidery on the camera and now my computer won't upload from the camera. So damed frustrating but I am wondering of my camera took a knock to it while at the beach the other day. Will keep trying. I have some on my phone so can post on FB though.

Oh Sunflowers it must feel like your hitting roadblock after roadblock. I hope it improves and sorts itself out quickly.

Kiwimade you were up early.

Shopping today, and we will have a nosy at a couple of oppies. They have their christmas gear out

Neither of us slept well last night, so both are firing on less than 4 cyclinders lol

I finished santa yesterday. I love his felt buckle much better than any of the knitted ones I have done before.
I only have the hair, holly decoration and the shawl to do for Mrs Claus. So hopefully she will be done tonight.

Right better make it look like Im organised lol

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Yep, early starts for me now as the sun hits our house at 5.30am. I like to be outside early while the day is cool, I get lots done and there is lots of weeding to do at the moment and concrete fill to shift. The convolvulus is rampant again and the edges need trimming this time before I mow tomorrow. I swapped a huge bunch of roses and poppies for some lavender with my neighbour yesterday so have the lavender hanging to dry. She has beautiful big clumps of it and mine are the miniature bushes in pots. Smells divine too.

I've figured out why my photos won't upload to the computer, the photo app keeps shutting down. So now to work out how to fix it.

Almost finished one wing so will take a pic and post on FB when done.

Morning everyone
Missy woke me early today, wanting to play.. So she has a claw trim while I had time to spare lol.
Its beautiful here today. Not a cloud in the sky, I think it may get hot later. So far my head is still in a good place.

Enjoyed doing the two oppies yesterday, and met Samsnan who pops in here now and then, in the st Johns oppy.. I knew she was local , But I still havent figured out how I was me lol.. I dont look like Popeye lol.

Got MrP another bits and pieces ornament.. a Tractor this time.. Ill take photos later. It was really cool and no way in that hot place was I leaving it there lol.
I only hve to stitched Mrs Claus Shawl into place and make a yellow/gold bow for her Neck and they are both done. So hopefully they wont take long to sell.
A friend had a book sent to our place, from on here, to save herself the rual feel. Its Natalie Oldfields from my grans Kitchen book. She used to be on Goodmorning.. Its a lovely book, and I want a copy of my own so some of the toy money will go to that. Its got some lovely nice simple recipes with her grans tips.

Tomorrow Im going to put a tarp on the ground in front of my raspberries and weed around it. I can see that theres heaps of new growth in there... Oh and our Passionfruit Are absolutely loaded.

Hope you get the camera sorted Kiwimade, technology can be a pest at times..

morning ladies :) Well it seems it's not my camera, it's the photo app on the laptop having a hissy fit. It won't stay open for more than a minute. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it didn't work. Others online have had issues and never seemed to resolve it. I've asked over in computing for help. The only way I can upload pics is to use my phone and upload directly to FB. I'll have a think about it as I weed a bit more today.

Lawns to mow, bed to strip and ground to prepare for a new plant is on the agenda today. And a bit more to the butterfly wing later on.

I hope MrS is all settled in his new resthome by now.

Happy knitting :)

One thing you could do Kiwimade is Upload them to FB, Then open the pic and right click on it and save it then you hopefully can upload it on tm.. Thats how I steal photos of my family in Aussie. but you have to click on the pic to make it bigger then save it.
Since your going to be outside for a while Ill have a go myself for yoou

I have finally finished the two dolls.. Ill take photos later and decide how much I want for them.
I will start on the topsey Turvey tonight. Get the shkirts done before anything else so Im not knitting it on the warmer days.

Have to nick up the road for a bit today. Then hopme and hopefully my tupperware will come today. I had a heap of seals replaced.

Good Morning Ladies They say we will have a temp of 25c today at present it overcast and grey sky.

Spend all day with Mr S yesterday. We went for a walk and found another sitting room alway from just about everyone. It was lovely to have it to ourselves. Went for a short walk outside to see the flower gardens.
Today I need to catch up on some jobs around the place.
I knitted some more face clothes and started a cotton summer scarf.
We have a local Christmas Shop which I like to visit and get something new for our tree. Most of everything is made by the owner. She had some new pieces that she picked out on her holiday to the USA. I will check her FB page and put it up here for you all to see.

Time to move and get on with the list of things to do. Will visit Mr S later in the day.

Have a great day and take some time out as well for yourselves. Happy crafting

Evening ladies, been a busy few days for me. Today I've been at the craft market all day. There was a ship in, albeit a toy one, only 350 or so passengers, so it was pretty quiet but I managed to sell a couple of things. Tomorrow a bigger ship is in, and we didn't have to pack everything away tonight so that's a bonus.

Stepson has done an enormous amount of work around the house, clearing trees behind me, so that I now get sun in my bedroom, something which hasn't happened probably for about 9 or 10 years. We went out to the boat the other day and it needs a lot of work on the outside, but the inside is pretty good, except the ceilings needed cleaning. I did what I could but ran out of puff, and we couldn't get the water tap to work. He removed it and brought it home and has it operating now, so I should be able to draw water from the huge water tanks on board, which will make it easier to clean up.

He's also fixed the outboard motor so we can motor to the boat instead of rowing. It's quite a long way to row. He can understand how it has ended up in the "too hard" basket. No signs of them finding anywhere to live but right now it's not a problem, we seem to be rubbing along quite okay. I do miss my privacy to a certain extent, but I'm also enjoying the company. No chance of being lonely. And Grace is certainly doing her share of the cooking and dishes etc, so all good.

Well I guess it's almost time for my tea to "be served". I will miss them being here when I have to start cooking my own tea again.

Hope everyone is well. Hope Mr S gets settled soon sunflowers for your sake. I know how difficult it is. Sometimes we just struggle along so much it would be so good if someone could wave a magic wand and solve all our problems. Sending you hugs.

Make the most of every day ladies, I certainly try to.

Happy crafting.

There was a huge cruise ship in Mt Maunganui the other day from the UK, the Majestic Princess. Over 3000 people on board and 330m long. They don't seem to do markets for the cruise ships there but the shops are all open.

Arrggg flick, I hope it's not the bug MrK and I had. Took three weeks to get over that. Look after yourself.

Almost finished the second wing to the butterfly. Am very happy with it so far. Not too shabby for a first attempt lol.

I need to find a JP today so I can finalise Dad's estate, will be pleased to have it all finished with.

Happy knitting :)

Pleased you had time together sunflowers..

Ohh flick try some massive amounts of Vit C to help chase the bugs away.

Kiwimade, I know what you mean re estates.. thankfully mums was pretty easy, but on top of everything else that was happening for us when mum died it seemed to take forever.

I didnt get to the passionfruit yesterday, and wont be able to do it today, the ground is wet from some heavy showers we had last night, so Im not going to sit on the ground to get a wet butt lol.

I have some washing to put away and then Im going to knit. Doing one of the skirts for the doll. Im etting the two biggest parts done first.

Today is 12 years since my heart surgery.. That time has gone pretty fast really. And the valve is working well.

Congrats on your 12 years, MrK's first heart surgery was in 1997. Amazing what can be done to a person.

I'm off to Hamilton today as my friend can't drive for a couple of weeks thanks to surgery. So I'm her 'chauffeur' for the day.

Just a smidgen to go on the butterfly wing and I will have half done. I've uploaded a new app to the laptop for uploading photos from the camera so hopefully I can post pics soon.

I have some soil to move later this afternoon, MrK has emptied one of his raised vegie gardens and put the soil onto one of the flower gardens. I also have to find a home for a rambling rose I have in a pot. I grew it from a cutting from dad's rose so it's quite precious. Might take another cutting first.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone on a chilly morning.
Is it cos I put my slippers away on the weekend.???. Probably lol.

I finished the first skirt yesterday, and made a dent into the next one.. Its not taking as long as I remember, but it is a smaller doll.

Slept far too long laying on my left side overnight so my right hip and back are not liking me now.. Its so weird that its better to sleep on the sore side.

So the little bake session I was planning is put the window , I want to make a"Fly Cemetary" slice. Havent had them for years and I have an abundance of fruit lol.....Ill knit instead lol.

Have to go get the script and drop it into the chemist, it wasnt done when I rang yesterday.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Gosh it's cold this morning but at least the sun is out. While having lunch in Cambridge yesterday with my friend it hailed. Today I take her to the docs and hopefully get our car back from the mechanics.

I have a little bit to do in the garden and I still have to find a spot for the rambling rose. Never thought I would ever say I'm running out of garden space!

A little less than a smidgen now to go on the wing, I keep putting it down as it's easy to loose my place. Then I come back to it with 'fresh' eyes.

Happy knitting :)

Morning Everyone
It is chilly this morning Kiwimade. I have sleeves and my slippers on lol MrP is laying in bed listening to the rain.

I had a late night, well early morning, I was trying to get some new games on the tablet, and then trying to figure out how to take a couple off. but I have the book out today so hopefully I should be able to thin it out. Its going pretty slow now.

Finished the second skirt and knitted two of the body parts yesterday. They wont take long as its all little bits now.

Our Izzy and Mum visited yesterday and not only did I get a cuddle and a high five but MrP did too.. That turned him to custard... His own grandchildren will never know his love. But Izzy will be showered with it.

Never thought Id say this either Kiwimade, I wish it would fine up so I can weed under the passionfruit and blackberries.. Then it will only be two big patches left. But I have to sit on the ground to do them.

We didnt have the hail everyone else had yesterday.. but its fair hosing down this morning.

Have a fab day everyone and stay warm and dry

Good Morning Ladies. Yes, we got the rain and winds late afternoon and evening. I went to Knit and Natter yesterday morning and to my gym class after lunch. Knitting a summer scarf in cotton.
I spend most of the day catching up on my spring cleaning and other jobs.

Today have an appointment with the hospice nurse. Her first visit to see Mr S at Princess Alexandra Complex.
Popeye you, not the only one who sites to do the gardens. I have to after a while as I have two cages holding my spine in place.
Did some more knitting last night.
Kiwimade thanks for sharing your garden photos with us.
Time for me to move as I have some jobs in town before I visit Mr S
Have a great day everyone.
