I reckon you can never have too much wool either

Morning ladies, family arrived safely on Friday night but I haven't really seen an awful lot of them (well stepson and I did stay up till after 1am the first night talking and catching up with news). I went to bed and out like a light and didn't set the alarm so I would be up early for the market. I woke at 7.10 and supposed to be at the market at 7.30. I thought I did quite well to get there by 7.40. Very quiet at the market Saturday, only made one sale, enough to cover the cost of the weekend, but I had a much better day yesterday and came home smiling!

Going out for lunch today at the home of one of the ladies who was on the cruise. We are all taking something towards the lunch with the receipe taken out of the cookbook she was given on the ship when she paid an arm and a leg to have a special Chefs dinner. I'm taking orange and yoghurt tart. I made one last week for a do at the neighbours to try it out and it was pretty yummy. Hope this one turns out okay.

Family have gone to Auckland today to buy a vehicle. They may stay overnight, but will let me know later.

I must press on. I have to pick a friend up in an hour and I'm far from ready.

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) mmmmmm orange and yoghurt tart... sounds delicious! Sounds like sales are picking up kuaka, I heard there was a cruise ship in over at Mt Maunganui so we might go over and have a look.

I scrubbed the outdoor furniture down yesterday so it's all ready for summer. I want one of those big outdoor plastic storage boxes you can buy from Mitre 10 so I can store the outdoor cushions over winter. And a seat MrK made when we were first married needs a cushion of some sort for it too so I'll price some fabric and make one.

No knitting for me yesterday, was busy doing other things.

Happy knitting :)

Just received my cotton yarn from Hobbii in Denmark - 6 days from ordering, including a weekend, so I am impressed. Don't rely on NZ Post tracking, though - up until yesterday it was telling me the parcel was still in Denmark !
The cottons are lovely colours, and nice quality.

Good morning everyone from a lovely napier. Baeutiful day here, perfect for outside jobs - and im at work.....
Finished the blanket for my stepsons 18th and he loves it so thats good. Only have 1 more project lined up at the moment so looking for more inspiration (ive only done blankets lol). Im going to make a runner type piece to go over the end of the bed. So about 40cm x 2.5m - should be interesting. Going to use the fleece type yarn and a 12mm hook so will look nice and chunky.
Popeye, i love the idea of re-use/hand made christmas presents. I might suggest that for us and only by for the littleies :) Have a great day everyone

Morning everyone
Yes Ive seen a couple of pics of the cruise ship Kiwimade, it is Huge. Will be worth the trip thats for sure. one I saw was taken at night and it was beautiful.
Granc I got an email for Nors something Ill check later and I could track the delivery on there.. Its amazing how fast it gets here eh.

I finished all the christmas presents yesterday.. And started a santa for next year. One of the district nurses said she knows alot of people who would love to buy the toys..
So my plan is to knit toys, but not make them up into toys until next year. Wont take as much room to store them that way.

Have to go do my bloods today... will take MrP with me and we will wander around an oppy or too as well, to make him walk more.

Have a fab day everyone

Good morning Ladies. Spend some time in the gardens before going over to see Mr S.Finished another facecloth last night that I started at the hospital. Have a meeting this afternoon with the team. Can't find a rest home bed in Napier just now. We would like it to be Napier to make it easier for me to see him and have him home for a few hours during the day.
Will be no knitting for me today.
Hope you all have a great day.

Morning everyone
A grey old day here and not too warm either.

The realestate people rang yesterday to ask if someone could view the house today.. Could hardly say no, but it was a little shirt on notice. Thankfully the houswork is pretty much up to date.

Sunflowers I know its very hard to get rest home placements up here , it makes it very hard on the families.. Make sure they take you into consideration at the meeting today too.

Im up to the neck on Santa. Hes going well.. I am going to have to do a wool order, possibly with Deramores to get the face yarn I prefer. But I will leave it till the new year. I dont want a wool parcel going Awol over the christmas period. Thankfully I can knit all the other bits of toys and leave the faces till I have the wool.

No other plans today, just a quiet one.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) oohh go for it flick! A bit of extra cash for Christmas, great timing!

mary-poppins, did you take a pic of the blanket? Would love to see it if you did.

I hope they find somewhere close for MrS, sunflowers. The bed spaces are certainly at a premium aren't they.

We were at the beach yesterday, no cruise ships in though. The water seemed colder than what it was in August but that could have been the southerly wind too.

I took a pic of the picnic cloth but it didn't come out very well so will attempt it again today.

Still beavering away on the baby blanket, am up to repeat 14 now and I think I'll need anything between 21 and 25 repeats. Will see how I go.

happy knitting :)

It's cold here this morning but by the looks of last night's weather forecast it's going to be cold everywhere. A good day for crafting I think. A few more rows knitted on the blanket, every row counts!

Morning everyone, very wet and windy here today. I havent ventured out to see how cold it is yet lol.

Im feeling rather chuffed at the mo.

The girls from The Junktion (our recycle centre shop) rang yesterday. they have had a knitted jumper come in, but its in pieces, so they asked if I would be able to sew it together.. And they have something else they want advice on too... So I feel quite honoured that they asked me.. And as they said, if they put it in the shop in a bag it would most likley get parts missing.
And for my trouble they will give me a 50%off voucher for my next shopping. Id hahve done it free anyway, rather than know it might end up in the bin, cos bits went awol.

Have to go get my pills this morning so Ill pop up there to pick it up.

I didnt knit at all yesterday, spent some time perusing rental properties online, just incase we have to start looking. I hope we dont have to.

Stay warm and dry everyone.

Have a fab day

Good Morning Ladies. Had a family meeting o Wednesday total waste of time been there. Left me wondering why they called it. Still no beds in Napier Rest Homes. So It means I have to keep going over to Hastings and with all the roadworks going on you never know if it will be 15 mins or a 45 mins trip.

No knitting yesterday head not in a good space mainly have not been sleeping that great. All sorted I went and saw one of the nurses and she got in to see the Doctor. A fall on the driveway did not help either yesterday morning.
Going to change my library books and head over to see Mr S while the weather is sunny. Weather forecast not good for the w/end.

That was lovely that the girls asked if you could sew up the jumper Popeye. Has landlord put your place on the market? Hope not or if so that the new people will let you stay. Fingers crossed for you.

Good to hear you have been busy in the gardens. Kiwimade. Clear an area yesterday so that I could put the bin out today. Need to either buy some plants or sow some seeds. Have to think about it and do some planning as we have a very large section.
Good hear you still enjoying knitting the shawl. Kiwimade.

Kuaku you must be very pleased to have your stepson and family nearby. Hope everything works out for them.

Still sunny so will make a move while it still fine.
Have a great day everyone.

Afternoon ladies, sunflowers they are staying here with me until they find somewhere to live - not sure if they are going to buy or build. To be honest, everyone keeps telling me that building takes months just to get the paperwork done, before you even think about building, so if they decide to build, I hope they rent while it's going on. Lovely to see them, but ....... I actually like being on my own most of the time.

Market day tomorrow, and again on Wednesday (because there is a ship due in on Wednesday) and then hopefully Thursday morning I'm going to do a bit of a road trip and visit a friend in Thames, another in Papamoa and then my old friend in Hamilton. Planning to be away for 7 or 8 days, but it will depend on whether it suits my friends or not.

We had torrential rain last night. It was deafening. I haven't looked yet to see if it has wrecked my vegies.

We almost had a disaster yesterday. We had a bbq the night before and yesterday afternoon late, I was putting away some tools that my stepson had used and left out on the deck, and as I bent to pick them up I realised that the bbq was hot. One of the elements had been left on and the cover had melted onto the bbq. Lucky it didn't go up in smoke as it's right up against the side of the house. It could have got pretty warm in the dining room!!!!

I was supposed to go to the dentist this morning but they cancelled because the dentist is sick. I'm really upset - I was looking forward to going - NOT!!!

Right, coffee time.

Have a super day everyone.

I picked up the jerseys yesterday. One is complete and done in Very very thick yarn, Ive pinned it to unroll some edges before I sew it up. The other is a back and some extra yarn.. I will suggest that they let me undo the big back and then reknit the yarn into a kids jumper perhaps..

Did some more on Santas head last night .. so it will go on hold while I do the jumper

Ive totally enjoyed the baking..
I still have to ice the chocolate cake, and some little chocolate biscuits which are meant to have a blob of orange icing on then melted chocolate on them. but ive decided to give them a thin spread of chocolate icing and when thats set Ill put the blob of orange on top..

MrP was able to help me in the christmas cake mixing, like he has done every year we have been together.. was getting a little woblly at the end but he made it. Yayay.
Had to postpone one recipe I had chosen cos I didnt read it through and you need to put the dough in the fridge overnight, so Ill bake those tomorrow and then be totally Bad and make a Pav... We havent had one since we have been up here so I figured it wouldnt hurt too much. Will take a while to get through it lol..

Its clear here now and still not very warm outside.

Morning everyone
I was surprised to see the weather changed overnight.. I thought if the wind stopped we might get a frost, but instead it rained. Still not very warm tho.
Had an awesome day baking yesterday.. Kept my meds up so the pain was managable.
I still have alittle bit to do today.. A few more untried recipes that look good.

I managed to finish the main body piece of santa and get about 2/3rds of an arm done.

I will start sewing the jumper from the Junktion up this afternoon.. If I can find a needle to get the thick wool through... Its super thick but is like two threads spun together so I will split it in half.

Stay warm everyone

Have a fab day

Hoping all is ok with Kiwimade...

Hi, Ladies, The weather has changed from rain and windy to a fine sunny day.
So will try to get some gardening done as well as a visit to the hospital.
Early night after cleaning shelves etc in the kitchen. Was watching a DVD and went off to sleep so will try and pick up the story sometime today.

Your road trip sounds great Kuaku. Hope you enjoy your trip. The weather looks good for the coming week and school goes back Monday so roads should not be too busy.

What did you bake beside the Christmas Cake Popeye? Good to have friends like Dot who would drop Butter off for you.

Washing to hang out so it time to move.
Having knitting everyone.

Morning ladies, a very quiet day at the market yesterday, half the stall holders weren't able to come and the guy who runs it is away at the moment, so the treasurer is running things. She considered cancelling it but as it was too late to cancel and not have to pay, she decided that the few of us who showed up should have the market. There were only 5 of us and we spread our things out onto 3 tables each instead of the normal 2 to make the hall look full. I managed to sell one scarf, so at least I covered my fee and made a small profit, but it's a long day when it's not busy. Hopefully be better on Wednesday when there is a ship in.

I had a rude awakening at 5am all cold and wet - my trusty old water bed had sprung a leak. It must be about 30 years old and I love it, all warm and snuggly - well it was until this morning. What developed was the biggest "wet patch" I've ever seen - hehe. So I had to strip it, mop up the mess with heaps of bath towels, and now I have a mountain of washing to do. Even the pillows were wet. Luckily it's the small bladder which fits between the two big ones, so hopefully I can still use the bed, once I've got rid of the surplus water.

Hope everyone has an awesome day - and yes, it was freezing yesterday, sat and nearly froze at the market, came home and lit the fire.

Sunflowers I made some good old Vanilla biscuits, a chocolate cookie that has orange icing and meant to have drizzled chocolate on it, but I put chocolate icing then the orange.. A slice with mixed fruit and choc drops in it with lemon icing, A depression cake, which is a chocolate cake with No eggs milk or butter.
And last night I mixed up the dough for some lemon cookies, which I have baked this morning. The pav is sitting in the oven turned off, and I made a Simon and Alison Holsts fudge slice (uncooked) but without con milk in it. And some chocolate crackle that doesnt use kremelta
I still have to drizzle icing on the lemon biscuits, but Im a little too sore now. So it can wait.

Dot came and got some of the baking Im giving her, but there will be more once icing has set etc.

morning ladies :) I'm sick. Friday afternoon I started to ache all over and by dinner time I had a sore throat. Slept most of Saturday and part of Sunday and seem to be on the mend today. My back still aches and I sound croaky but my throat has stopped hurting.

Our grandson turned two over the weekend and our granddaughter starts school today. She was so excited and our daughter told us she was counting down the sleeps to school.

I haven't done much knitting, just haven't felt like it so hopefully will be able to do some today.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
I had wondered if you were sick Kiwimade, as you hadnt been online much.. Hope you mend soon..
Seems soo fast for your Grandboy to be two already lol.. Nan might have to ring your grandgirl to see how her first day went at school.

Im having a quiet day today, I over did it with my baking adventures.. that will teach me lol, so the right hand side of my tummy is rather sore.

I was given a double bed last night, via Facebook. They delivered it for me, they were about 300 metres up the road. lol.. So now I have to find someone to take the one I have now. Ill ask a friend of she knows anyone who needs one, or the other two options is the St Johns opp shop or perhaps the school for their sale at the gala which is only a few weeks away.

I have half the jumper sewn up.. Just have the last sleeve and side seam to do. I wouldnt say the wool is very good for sewing but its working so far. Its lightly spun.

We enjoyed our Pavalova last night, well sort of lol, soooo sweet... lol It will probably be another 14 years before we have another lol...

Have a wonderful day everyone

morning ladies :) Am still sick and now MrK has whatever bug I have. It's not the flu as he was immunised, I think it is just a really nasty cold.

I was talking with the nieghbours yesterday as you do lol, and we've decided to have a Christmas road party. Our road is a private road so we can close it off (just need room for the milk tanker to get through) and we can move our BBQs, seats, tables etc onto the grass frontage and the kids can have the whole road and everyone's backyards to play in. So now we need to sort out a date and let everyone know.

I knitted another repeat of the blanket, am on the home stretch now.

Happy knitting :)

Still waiting for some people to get off their backsides and check out the rest homes. I'm so over it. Have visited 4 here in Napier and 2 of them have beds so are able to take Mr S. Need to be visited by the social worker.
Today I am going to go out in the gardens, yes again and out for a late lunch. Still haven't got my haircut.

Hope you are enjoying your new bed and you had good sleep in it last night Popeye.
Sorry to hear you and Mr K are not well. Hope you both get better soon. The Christmas Road Pary sounds just what you need after a very hard year.
Off now will catch up with you all later in the day.
Have a great ladies.

Ohh sunflowers I hope they can get things sorted for you..

I did manage a little knitting last night, doing the beard peices for santa.

Im going to try and compact down some wool etc today, cos I cant get the under bed containers under my bed now lol.. but friend is interwested in a blanket i made ages ago so Ill get that out of a crate and that will make more room.

morning ladies :) Yesterday we decided to have a blah day, just a day to try and get well. So movies and knitting were on the agenda for me and sleeping and movies for MrK. We are still sick but I'm feeling a bit better, MrK still has a ways to go.

Ahhh buggar sunflowers, I hope your social worker is doing her visit today. My sister is a social worker so she got things moving pretty quickly for us with dad. It's a pity you just can't take him into the resthome yourself.

I'm hoping to spend some time out in the garden too, even if it is only for a short time. I solve all the world's problems while weeding or planting lol. You probably do the same sunflowers :)

Happy knitting :)

Good Morning Ladies. We had a visit from Jack Frost this morning. Still on the lawn at 8 am when I put out the bin. Hopefully, have it fill again of weeds for next Friday. Yes, Kiwimake working out in the garden I try to solve the problems and do a lot of thinking as well. I have had an upset tummy for the last couple of days as well. So over that.

The Social Worker is taken Mr S and myself to look at a Rest Home that not far from our place this morning. Yes, the hospital is pushing to get him out of the hospital. It 's small in size to some. 14 beds.
Did some blanket stitching around a blanket that I cut down from a double one. Look at either making a bag or cushion covers from the leftover piece. So, yes I have been keeping my self busy.

Sorry to hear Kiwimade that you and Mr S are still not well. Maybe time to visit your Doctor. Sound like watching movies and knitting was just what you needed yesterday. Take Care.
Hope you get to see Kiwimade and have that coffee with her next week Kukua. Have an enjoyable road trip.
Have a great day everyone.

Afternoon everyone

I went straight to work this morning.. 3 loads of washing all done. Some left to put away.
Ive been through my wardrobe for the oppy and throwing anything not good enough for them.. I have 7 pairs of brand new shoes Im going to try and sell on FB.
I havent hit the cave yet, but Ill get to that tomorrow.. Im rather sore in the back at the mo, so it needs a rest.

One good thing tho, I found the curtains I made for the kitchen , when I did the rest of the house. Goodness knows how they ended up in my room lol..

May sit and knit later..

14138

morning ladies :) Still not 100% but better than yesterday so any improvement is a bonus!

My plan for today is to get out into the garden and weed and finally finish the path. And get rid of more concrete too. It shouldn't take long to weed as I kept up with weeding over winter. And the soil needs moving about as the clay in it will start to set like concrete if I don't do that. This summer I'm hoping to buy at truckload of compost and mix it in to break up the clay.

Knitting later this afternoon/evening too I think. I have one and a half pattern repeats to go then the border across the top. So almost there.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone,

Tis a beautiful day to be out in the garden Kiwimade. Glad your feeling like your on the mend.

I managed to get my wardrobe all done yesterday, so im very pleased on that, and Im into the cave once Ive been on here. It wont be a one morning fix thats for sure..
I intend on being a bit more ruthless than I have been, Its time to cull some stuff from projects that I just havent got to. Izzys Kindy will benefit from the stuff Ive been saving for a project. Silly things like the pottles the test strips come in, hard cardboard tubes, the softer ones are always recycled, I planned to do something with the hard ones.

Ive decided since the covered coathangers arent in fashion at the mo, Ill use the ones Ive made.. I still have stuff to make more with if they come back into fashion. They dont really sell on here cos they cost so much to post.

Finished Santas Hat last night, alot of decreasing in that , and if yoou stuff one row you stuff the lot lol.

Hope everyone is well and enjoy the lovely day

Edit to add, theres three flowers out on the passionfruit already.. That I can see from inside anyway, there might be more. Yay

morning ladies :) yummmm passionfruit! And we have teeny tiny bunches of grapes on our grapevine too. It's our first season growing grapes so quite excited lol. Yesterday MrK picked the first of our strawberries, they were so sweet and much nicer than the bought ones.

I'm feeling a lot better so will mow the lawn today. Managed to weed for a bit a trim the edges yesterday. There is still a good mornings worth of weeding to do and I can do that at some stage. The ground is so dry too, if it doesn't rain shortly I'll have to put the hose on.

I have 49 rows of knitting to do so am on a countdown! I'll be pleased to finish before summer kicks in as I don't knit on warmer days/evenings.

Here's (finally) a pic of the picnic cloth I finished. I put one flower in each corner too.

Oh Kiwimade thats soo pretty.. Very dainty flowers.. I love gingham.. The set I got is a darker blue than yours.. I was thinking of cross stitching something in the corners on the table cloth, but wanting something little to put on one corner of the serviettes too. But thats on the to do oneday list lol

I did the cave yesterday.. Soo much more orderly now.. And I have heaps of stuff for the kindy.
Only knitted two tiny parts for Santa, but as I said to MrP 2 parts is better than none lol..

Good Morning Ladies. Busy, Busy... Hoping to plant my herbs and tomatoes today if my leg lets me.Been going across on the bus to Hastings to visit Mr S as bus stops outside the main doors Yesterday the driver did not wait till I had sitting down and I fell. A couple of guys help me up and brought out a wheelchair once at the hospital. The driver did nothing. Hear her say I'm not getting out of my seat.
Taken to E & R had an x-ray and some painkillers. Finally got to see Mr an hour later.
We went outside and sat in the shade as we needed to talk about our visit to a rest home in Napier. All goes well he just maybe over later this week.
Got home last night and had something to eat and took off to bed.

Today is another day and just moving slowly around, just maybe I 'll do some hand stitching or knitting watch some dvds.
Had a call from the staff on Mr M ward to see if I was ok this morning.
Well, ladies enjoy your day.
Happy Knitting

lawns are mowed and I'm knackered lol. This bug certainly has knocked the stuffing out of me.

Sunflowers, that bus driver needs reporting. Maybe not seeing you sit down was accidental, but to not check you were ok is not on. I hope you aren't too badly bruised this morning.

Kettles boiled, time for a cuppa outside in the sun. Am wearing a sun hat already!

morning ladies :) I got a littttlleee sunburnt yesterday! It was overcast for most of the morning I was working in the garden but the sun was there. And yep, it came out in full force late morning onwards.

Lucky you flick being given so much yarn and lovely some is being used for charity.

I'm feeling a lot better today, MrK is on the mend too thank goodness.

Today I need to move a native geranium, it's not 'doing' where it is so needs a better spot. And I have some grapefruit all ready prepared for marmalade so will round up some jars and get that done today.

Knitting later on, almost finished, 39 rows to go. But first, the hose needs to go on the garden, the ground is so dry. Happy knitting

Morning everyone
We have cloud and fine areas today... Its been getting quite warm in the lounge for the past few days, Just waiting for the wind to change its direction, which it normally does after we have a super heavy final blow at the start of November.

Dishes and the floor to do today.. then Im going to sit and knit.. All but finished Santa, i hate the way I can never get his belt buckle to sit properly so Im going to make one from felt.. and I always leave the leaves and berries until last cos they are the finishing touch.
So I started Mrs Claus last night.. Hopefully I might get these ones done and sold before this christmas.

Missy is in a state of upset cos we had to test the medical alarm this morning... She of course coinnects it with one of us going away.. so she needs extra attention today.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) It's a real pea-souper of a fog this morning, haven't had fog this thick for ages. A few near misses with cars overtaking too, no headlights on. How stupid can you be.

Almost there with the baby blanket but only managed to knit two or three rows yesterday. Will get there though, every row is one less!

Happy knitting :)

Good Morning Ladies, Sun out and it starting to warm up. What a w/end and it looks like a long week ahead.
I left a message on the council phone and they phoned me this morning. A couple of other people had also left messages as well. They are pasting them on to the bus manager.
Visited a rest home on Friday morning, just waiting for some phone calls. I need to make a few calls also today.
Planted some herbs and tomatoes yesterday. I finished spraying the driveway as well.
Looked at a few knitting stitches last night and will start a shawl tonight. Had the wool looking at me now for a couple of weeks on the table.

Yes, I remember the pea-souper of fogs when living in Morrinsville. We get the odd one here as well. Hope you enjoy your visitor later in the Kiwimade.
Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone
Its surprising just how many idiots there are who never put their lights on... Could see the fog in the south Kiwimade.
I was just thinking , do you think the reason you were so unwell was cos, its been a while since you were teaching in rooms full of kids with all sorts of bugs, that your immunity has dropped now?

Im halfway up Mrs Claus Body now, so progressing nicely.

I have a fair bit to do up the street this morning, so have postponed MrPs hair cut until tomorrow..

Im with you Kiwimade, even 2-3 rows is more than none. Im really pleased Im back to knitting toys again. And when I think about it, Ive done the choir boy and girl, the snow peoples, dish clothes and hanging towels and Santa, all since I came home from hospital the last time.

Right a quick check around and Im off.

have a fab day everyone
