So sorry to read of your Dad's passing - Kiwimade - my thoughts are with you and your family

morning ladies :) Thank you for your kind messages and condolences. Dad is in a much happier place now. Arrangements are pretty much done, we're waiting for family from Aussie to arrive and to do the final things. Our son is home and daughter is coming later in the week with her family. Today I am going to suss out where some rosemary plants are and so I can snip some for the graveside later in the week. And I'm returning dad's medical stuff today as well. I need to be busy.

Happy knitting :)

Good Morning Ladies, Take Care and give yourself some time out KIwimade. Thinking of you and your family.

Went to Knit and Natter yesterday morning and knitted up a couple of cotton cloths. Must put my thinking cap on and come up with a knitting project.

Off today to see Mr S at the rest home and then to Ahuriri which is small sea suburb. I miss our visit to the seafront and the coffee. Its somewhere we go 3-4 times a week as we miss the roar of the sea and fishing boats coming and goings, also the port. It is a very busy area.
Get results today. Fingers crossed it has not spread.

Hope everyone else is well and the weather sunny and warm for you.
Off to hang some washing and tidy up. My support nurse is dropping by this morning for a catch-up.

Happy knitting.

Morning everyone.
Yes lots to do at this time Kiwimade.. Lovely idea to start some rosemary bushes for the gravesite. Yes its a comfort knowing hes not suffering anymore.
I found I needed normal, and jobs to do to keep busy.
A dear friend of ours died last Wednesday, had been told Thursday. She was 85 and one of those dear Old ladies. She will be with her darling hubby now.
Take care but rest when you need to.

I finally did some sewing up yesterday, want to get these toys done and find their for ever home.

A beautiful day today.

Afternoon ladies, I had a shocking day yesterday, a severe case of Delhi belly saw me spending more time on the toilet yesterday morning than off it. I didn't go to mah jong and when I phoned a friend to say I wouldn't be going, and said my bum was on fire, she said "put the toilet roll in the fridge" which made me laugh despite feeling so miserable. I went to bed after lunch and dozed for a while, and then of course last night I was exhausted so went to bed early only to wake at 2.30 and not be able to get back to sleep. Finally dozed off again at 6.30. Pleased to say I'm feeling okay today.

Just home from knit and natter. It's a lovely day today, warm and sunny. Maybe spring has finally arrived - here's hoping.

I plan to put up the curtain tracks which my neighbour gave me. They are not the type I like but are an improvement on the ones I took down, and will do until I have a spare $250 sitting around looking for something to do - haha! Then maybe I can re-hang the curtains.

No other plans for today, except just maybe go to the club at 5.30 and see who turns up to play indoor bowls. I'm thinking that I might need an excuse to get out of the house when my stepson and his family are here.

Yes, kiwimade, you probably need to keep busy for a few days and then you can relax later.

Enjoy this beautiful weather and long may it last.

morning ladies :) I'm up and about early this morning, seems to be the norm for me lately.

I have a fair bit on today, will do some baking and take to my sisters and I'll have another go at returning dad's chairs and stuff. They were closed when I called in yesterday. I have returned all of dad's medication to the chemist for disposal, I would rather that was gone as there was so much of it and we will have littlies around. I found some photos my uncles may like so will put them in my bag to give to them. I need to make an appointment with WINZ about dad's super too. I don't want to end up having to repay any of it. And MrK's sisters are coming for lunch today which will be lovely. My family are slowly arriving but will be in Cambridge. I have lists... thank goodness I'm a list person!

Happy knitting :)

I have a couple of days work left on the toys and they will be done. Yay.

I will move need to get a few things done on here and then Im off

Morning everyone,
Grey day here with wind, so not going to be fun to go out in..
Woke early today, sore bones, probably from the extra travel I guess.. But I still have to go see the Nurse today.
A friend sister and I have decided to have a "Play Date" at the recycle centre shop lol.. Love the new term for any excuse to get together with people lol..

MrP was good yesterday, was sound asleep when I got there. But a nurse woke him up.
And he was soon awake when I told him about the old asian guy that side swiped our car. Thankfully he only scratched our bumper, he was trying to get into the right hand lane and misjudged it I guess. He looked when I tooted the horn but took off... But I can report that his BMW has a nice crease middle height of the two left side doors and the back side panel... Wont be cheap to fix.. Our trusty Rav, tough as old boots lol.

Hope you enjoyed your lunch yesterday Kiwimade...

Take care everyone

Morning everyone from a lovely Napier. Sun s out. Perfect for washing.
Popeye that's no good. Some people are so rude. Hopefully its a simple fix.
I've started on a bright pink ribbed blanket for my friend daughter who turns one just before Christmas, but do need to get some yarn to make my step son a blanket for his 18th at the a art of October.
Have a great day everyone

Morning everyone
Wow the storms are creating Havoc overseas. We are lucky here.

Hope all is going ok for you Kiwimade, and that your family are helping, not leaving everything to you to do.

Im going to have a day of packing things into the car, stuff that is too easily pinched during an open home which is tomorrow. I cant wait for it to be over and done with, so I dont have to worry about it again.

MrP is still in hospital, I doubt he will get transferred over the weekend, but you never know.

Only have the hat decorations and the umbrella left to do on the snowpeople... Then I hope to start some dishclothes and hand towels. It could very well be the christmas presents for some this year.

Enjoy todays good weather everyone, its meant to get yucky tomorrow

Spend the afternoon out at the rest house yesterday with Mr S. Very peaceful and the staff are very are very busy. Say that, one of them came out with a drink for us while out in the courtyard.

Knitted up a copy more dishcloths last night that makes 5 A few of us are having a stall at the local market next w/end. Need to clean out my w/robe.

Popeye so glad to hear you are over after that car hit you the other day. It will be easy on you when Mr P moves out to the local hospital. Big saving on costs of running your car and time.

morning ladies :) Lovely knitting popeye and flick1! I love seeing what others have/had on their needles.

We had a stunning day for Dad's funeral yesterday and were able to give him a good send off. Now it's all the follow up stuff but the worst is over.

I have family visiting today who haven't seen our home so it's a mad dash to mow lawns and trim edges. The house was a tip as no housework for ages so I did housework when we got home yesterday. I know family aren't looking at how your house is but it's a matter of pride with me. And while the day is so calm, I might even be able to spray the weeds where we park the car.

I might even be able to concentrate on some knitting today... although yesterday I caught up with an old friend of dad and mums and gave her some knitting patterns after the funeral. Our kids laughed and asked if my needles where in my bag for the 'after-do'. And no, they weren't lol.

Morning everyone
It was a beautiful day yesterday, I hate wet funerals..

Lol re the needles for the after-do Kiwimade.. I have a sister in law who takes her knitting everywhere, so she would have had hers.
Doing some "Normal" stuff will be good for the mind and body today for you.

I only have some dishes to do and a bit of a spot vaccum, its not bad but theres bits of cat litter that stick to my slippers that walk up the hallway, so Ill use the vacc for the first time in many months.
I have a basket of stuff I need to transfer into the car, but I have it sitting on our spare walker, so its just a transfer. I have Missys cage down ready for her.
I will be pleased when today is over and thats one more thing I dont have to think about (Open Home)

I started a dishcloth last night, I liked the edge for the increasing but could get the decreasing edge to look the same so I undid it and started again, increasing a different way. Without even planning I have green red and white cotton so I will do some sets of dishcloths for christmas pressies..

Sunflowers how do yoou do your Increasing and decreasing?

Flick that beanie and booties look warm and snuggly

Will ring MrP about 9 am, gives him a chance to have his breakie etc. I hope they move him soon. Im not actually looking forward to a trip up there perhaps Tuesday.

Have a fab day everyone.

Good Morning Ladies from sunny Napier. So pleased for you Kiwimade that everything went well yesterday. Next few days/weeks just take one day at a time and do what you need to do. Thinking of you and your family.

Yes, up early for me, washing on and hang out before I head off with my friend shopping and later coffee.
Starting to sleep a lot better now. Was waking up around 3 am and not getting back to sleep for an hour or two.

Watch a couple of U Tubes last night. Having a problem starting of blanket stitching around a blanket I cut down for Baby T. Take some materials with me when I go out later and see if my friend can work out what I am doing wrong.

Have knitted hats for his sister and brother, they go off in the morning to daycare wearing then. His older sister is busy knitting herself a scarf. Comes over most afternoons to show how much she knitted.
We had to laugh the other night her aunty took her knitting off her when she was knitting at the bedroom window using the street light to see by.

Hope everyone has a great day and enjoy doing something for themselves. Happy Knitting.

No knitting for me last night, I'm still waiting for my Deramores order, it's been a month. They have never been this late before. In the meantime I have found a lovely hardanger pattern to use the threads I bought at the quilt show the other day. MrK is going to build a narrow table for down the hallway and I'll use this pattern and threads to stitch a cloth for it.

If my wool order doesn't arrive today, I'll email Deramores. Not impressed, their service has slacked off.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Twinklestar2, they are in one of Jean Greenhowes Christmas Books.. If you google her yuo can buy them online... Deramores used to sell them. Its cheaper to buy them from there or other overseas knitting shops than it is to get them from spotlight .

Will be nice to have a change Kiwimade, very dissapointing re your deramores order.
Im having trouble with a trade on here. I paid for two tin signs for MrPs christmas present, they have my money and I havent recieved the signs and therye not answering emails.. So Ive got TM involved now.

I have sold the Snow peoples.. Going to the same place that the choir couple went..
Have made two dishclothes, the cotton I got from Hobbii is lovely to work with. Nice and soft. You could use them for flannels too I reckon.

The Open home was a fizzer.. not a single person through.

Off for the dreaded smear today, but it has to be done...

Good Morning Ladies. What a lovely weather we had over the w/end. Clean up a garden outside our the bedroom window and going to plant sweet peas. Mr S will be able to see them from the bed. The other garden is going have summer veggies. Fulled the wheelie bin so hopefully, the mowing guys will take the weeds for me. Otherwise, have to wait till next Friday week.

Popeye you asked how I cast off my clothes Knit 2 and past the first one over the second. If it a 2 stitch pattern I do the same or knit /purl two together. Yes, you can use them as face cloths. For more patterns have at look at www.allfreeknitting.com.

I would not wait any longer for my wool kiwimade. Send them an email. I send parcels, mail etc to family in the UK. Post-Thursday and there the following Tuesday. The same from them. Hope you are able to get some time to yourself and recharge the body.

Mr S comes home after lunch today, so I have to get moving and finish the jobs I should have done over the w/end. It should not take to long and it's a sunny day again. Have no appointments this week so that good. We need to have this time to ourselves to chill out.

I see some new faces in here.Welcome Ladies.
Happy knitting everyone.

morning ladies :) That's good news for you popeye and sunflowers. The travelling is stressful, I've done the Waikato Hosp 40 minute run many many times over the years.

I emailed dearmores yesterday but no reply as yet, it was Sunday for them though so will see what happens today. Am not happy with them. And am so surprised as they have been very quick with my other orders.

I have inherited a queen anne style coffee table from dad and mum and it will be placed under a window so I need to either stitch or crochet a cloth to protect it from the sun. So I'll have a look around for patterns and see if anything inspires me.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

It is very dissappointing re your order Kiwimade, especially when you have had good orders. I hope they can sort it for you quickly.
Ive used Hobbii twice recently and Ive not had any trouble, thus far.

Ohh the coffee table sounds lovely. Not something we can have in our lounge, well not sitting in the middle of the floor anyway. mrP's walker gets in the way.

When we lived in Mangakino we had a 1.5 hour trip to Waikato hospital... I certainly dont miss driving those trips..
Yet I used to love driving and could do it all day without trouble. Ive always thought that when I fell on my butt in the garage that the cartiledge simply popped out. Cos its about then that I had to start limiting the driving a bit.

Another dishcloth just about done.

Seeing the nurse today, I hope I get one more visit so I can take them a cake. Then off to do a washing run for MrP and find out what its like over there and what they will do.
I called him last night and it was the worst connection ever, so Im going to see if I can change his mobile to a Skinny one and then I can call him on that free. If I have to Ill buy another cheap phone so it can be done, cos it would pay for itself within a few days.

Was a warmish night and I didnt have slippers on at all yesterday.

Have a fab day everyone

Good Morning Ladies, The sun just out at present, here hoping it stays fine till after our lawns are mowed. We missed a cut as it was so wet. No knit and natter today, go to gym class after lunch.
I need to sort out my Book Art Gear for Saturday so am ready if I go. It's not easy planning too much ahead at present.
Didn't get my knitting out last night or during the day. Plan to knit later today and evening.
What a lovely coffee table you have inherited. Kiwimade. Hope you are able to found out where your wool is and they answer your email. It should not take that long to arrive.

What a timesaver it going to be for you Popeye when they moved Mr P.More playtime in your cave. Ha Ha

How your plans coming along for your market stalls Kuaku. There a list in our newspaper today of the dates and name of ships coming in over the next few months.

Everyone else I hope you are able to pick up your needles sometime during the day.
Have a great everyone.

Morning ladies from a very wet northland.

I had an awesome day yesterday. Went shopping first, Warehouse, Mitre 10, op shop, New World and then met friends for lunch and then we went to the movies. Now I'm not really much of a movie-goer - last movie I saw was either A Fish called Wanda, or Pretty Woman. Yesterday I saw The Book Club. It is hilarious. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

Then I came home, got changed and went to the club to play snooker, but there was nobody there to play with so I came home again.

Did some knitting, have almost finished a pukeko which will be another item to cross of the "to do" list.

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) I started knitting the baby blanket then unpicked it to upsize the knitting needles.

The Furry One became an uncle last week and we saw the pups last evening. OMG, Jack Russells make the cutest roly-poly pups! And the best news is they have all been sold and have homes to go too when ready.

Our son phoned last evening to say he has a promotion with his new job already, only been there a few weeks. So he is very excited about his future and can now start saving a decent amount for his own home or overseas trips. We are so very proud of him. And it's pretty neat to be able to tell him that too.

Once the daily chores are done I'm going to keep weeding the garden, it won't take long to get things done and tidied up. And over the weekend we are going to return dad's bed to my sister and get our bed back and put dad's room back to the way it was before he moved in. I have a couple of pieces of crystal to give to our daughter too that belonged to mum and dad. So things are slowly happening.

Yin Yoga this evening, I didn't make it last week, too many tears, so am looking forward to it.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Ohh Kiwimade, I betn those puppies are cute. I saw our Foxy boy from the day he was born and we visited and bonded with him until he was old enough to leave his Mum,, he was the fattest of them all, loved his food lol.

Nice to be proud of your kids and yes to be able to tell them so.. Im sure Cat will love the crystal.
Soo pleased the wool arrived.. lol.. hard with too many choices.

Went to see MrP yesterday, its an old hospital but its spotless and a real family atmosphere. They all have a rich red fake fur blanket on their beds. Jammies are folded under their pillows. And all the staff greet you nicely.

Oddly I wore a black skirt and red top that I havent worn for ages, and when I arrived MrP was in black trackies and a red shirt lol.. We even have matching bruises on the same place and toe but oposite feet lol.
I was talking to the physio she reckons he will only need about a fortnight of rehab. I asked her not to tell him that, cos if it takes him longer he wont be happy.
I saw my Nurse, basically discharged, I have one plaster on. But if I have any trouble Im to ring them , and they will check in with me next week if I havent called. Ill be taking a cake up to them on Friday tho.

Went to two oppies yesterday, one, Habitat for HUmanity is huge but nothing tempted me.. Then went to St Johns and I didnt even get in the door without picking something up,, well many somethings, 8 half prive baking books... lol.. Got one that I thought I had , which I did but Ill give it to my youngest sister friend, she loves to bake too.

Home with Missy today..

I knitted a few rows but with 310 stitches on the needle, it takes forever to knit a row. But I'm happy with the result so far and there is no hurry for this baby blanket.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Tis a beautiful day out there

Wow Kiwimade thats alot of stitches, are you using a circular needle?

Good you are learning things that you may end up having to do on your own. MrP has taught me things that I need to know too.

And speaking of him, man he was in a foul mood last night.. Wants to come home today, but Im going to have to be firm with him. Reckons he will walk out if he has too.. He wont make it to the end of the ward I shouldnt think..
He was sore from being in the gym , and they dished up pasta for tea and rice pudding for pudding, two things he doesnt like. But I spoke to the nurse and told her to expect a very grumpy man.
I will talk to them before I talk to him this morning. Its possible he will have changed his mind, but I wont put money on it lol.

Need a few groceries and to do my blood today. I already know my INR wont be good cos when I tested my sugar it wouldnt stop flowing lol. And if MrP has decided to stay I might do the oppies in town here.

Still havent done any knitting in the last few days.. but Ill get back to it.

Have a wonderful day everyone

Morning ladies, the weather looks quite grey and bleak again. I wonder if we are going to have a spring this year!

Yesterday I went to knit and natter and then fed the neighbours cats on the way home, and called in to see a friend and have a coffee. Then after lunch I decided I really must finish the main bedroom, and I put up the last curtain track and rehung the curtain, so that room is now ready for the family. Now I must tackle the little bedroom as it has become nothing more than a store room. I have started on it, but there is a way to go yet.

Had a message from my cousin in England to say her son had been found dead in his van at lunchtime. I'm trying to work out how old he would have been. Think he is a bit older than my niece, which would make him about 52 or 53.

Quiz night tonight at the local yacht club, we have a meal to start with. Last time we all had an "entree size fish and chips for $15" and it was two huge pieces of fish, a pile of chips and salad. I couldn't eat all mine. I wonder how much you get for the $20 "mains" size???

Right, I had better start on some chores. I need to clean the kitchen bench, as it was covered in ants when I got up so I reached for the fly spray. I hate ants - and cockroaches - and flies!

Have a super day everyone.

Good Morning from a wet and grey sky. It's a bit like my mood this morning. Spend an hour phoning around about appointments for Mr S and tradespeople. Over three weeks since our lawn motor crew has been and I will need a couple of sheep to eat it down now.

Did some stitching on a needle cover for a gift to a friend last night Hope to get some knitting done today. May feel better after a visit to the gym.

Sorry to hear Mr P is thinking of walking home. He be ok once he learns the ropes. Mr S was like it last time he in the rest home and then liked it.

Yep Sunflowers, hes going through a bored grumpy patch.

I spoke to his nurse, then talked to him.

Managed to get him to stay and do what he needs to do.. I suggested he walked down to the tv room, he said its too far, I told him the nurse would take him in a wheel chair if needed... And I guess he knew if he couldnt get to the tv room he wouldnt be walking home..

Enjoyed my shopping yesterday, I will miss spending time in the oppies once MrP is at home again.

Going to see MrP at some stage today.. Will watch him do some therapy in the gym, try and encourage him to see how well he is doing.. So I will do a couple more oppies while Im over that way.
Im on the hunt for some clear tupperware square round lids.. Ive been collecting the containers for a while but lids are harder to find. Cos when they do them now they are special runs and are coloured. I cant do odd things that dont match.

Finally had some time to knit so finished one dishcloth and started another.

Made a cake for the nurses I must get a thank you card too so will drop that off too.

Hope everyone has a fab day

morning ladies :) woaahhhh kuaka, that meal sounds huge for $15! Reminds me of the old pub lunches you used to get for a few $$. I meant to ask you before (cotton wool in the brain I think!), how's your upset tummy? Ginger beer, the brewed kind, is great for upset stomachs. I hope you are on the mend.

Today we are swapping dad's bed back and bringing our bed home from my sisters. Fingers crossed the weather stays nice. I took dad's clothes into the hospice shop where they were gratefully received, hopefully someone can use them.

MrK is sick, he has an awful cough and just can't shake it. Men are the worst when they are sick! Popeye, stick to your guns about MrP, he will thank you in the end.

I'll do a bit more knitting sometime today, it's slow progress but getting there.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, from a very grey (yet again) northland. We've already had a heavy shower, so I won't be mowing the rest of the lawns today.

As for my upset tummy, I get them quite regularly if I eat something I'm not supposed to - like anything with seeds in, tomatoes, kiwifruit, sweetcorn, nuts, bread with rat droppings in (as Mr K used to call it), and it seems if I drink too much red wine. So really only myself to blame.

The quiz night was fun but the questions seemed harder than usual last night. We came third out of about 8 or 9 teams. We earned ourselves a free drinks voucher.

No plans for today, might go to the Friday session of knit and natter, but I sometimes wonder if I need to be spending $10 a week on having two cups of coffee out. Do it every week and that's $500 just on coffee, seems ridiculous. Might take a friend to see her mum this afternoon and then take her on to a medical appointment in Keri but have to check with her first if she still needs to go. Other than that I suppose it will be housework or sewing this afternoon. Boring!

But right now, I shall have breakfast.

Have a super day everyone.

Hope it stayed fine for you Kiwimade.

Sounds like an irritable bowel problem Kuaka, MrP and his brother are the same, with seeds and nuts.

He walked all the way to the gym this morning, its a long way for him and he worked really hard while there. He wanted me to be proud.. Which I am.. but I bet hes sore now.

He doesnt know it yet but Im going over on monday so he can try getting in and out of the car. And if he does ok he will be coming home on tuesday.

I spoke to the nurses etc and they are going to get our fave geriatric dr to mention driving, or that he shouldnt be, cos he just argues with me about it. Theres no way he should be driving.

Ive done 4 oppies today and Im am weary, and my stupid foot is sore.. but it was fun.

morning ladies :)

We didn't get the beds moved yesterday so are planning for today... typical... it's raining!

$10 a week for coffee.... if you are enjoying it kuaka, why not? Just don't add it up over a year lol.

That's good news about MrP popeye. And a good idea to have the doctor talk to him about driving. Hopefully he will empasise how an accident can hurt others and this should make him think about it more. Then suddenly it will be MrP's idea and it will be fine.

I saw a heron flying over this morning, haven't seen one for ages so good to have them back. We had a colony in the trees opposite us for a while a few years ago. Better move and feed 'my' waxeyes, there is a very bossy one but it is spring and mating season.

Happy knitting :)

Second time for typing grr.

Morning ladies
We have a slight drizzle this mornng.. tis slightly chilly too.

yep Kiwimade, I learnt a long time ago to "Plant the seed" for an idea andknew that eventually MrP would see it as his idea and a good one lol

I only have one small bit of a scab on my last wound to come off now and Im all healed.. I dont miss the vacc, I wouldnt have done half of the shops etc that i have in the last 5 days lol.

I havent seen a Heron for a long time, it might be due to the earthworks and machinery down at the estuary here.. used to see the odd Kingfisher here too. There are tuis that visit near the window where MrPs bed is in the hospital, so hes enjoying hearing them.

Ive promised Missy ill be home all weekend. She will "Help" me put all the baking books away that I have brought in all my oppy shopping. When I sit on the floor she sees it as cuddle and pay time. lol

Have a good day everyone, Ill be knitting later

Good Morning Ladies, from overcast Napier. Phoned the Hospice at 4.30 am this morning talked to the duty nurse and asked for a visit today for Mr S. So sometime today I will have a nap. Have a heap of oranges to juice and to cut up as well. Just about last of them off the trees.

Yes, it does amount up buying coffee. I miss buying one and sitting watching the weaves or walking on the path beside the water. Some days I would make lunch and we head off to one of the parks beside the water and stopping on the way for coffee.
No knitting now for a couple of days now. If I light the fire later today I will sit and do some knitting. Have no UFO at present.

Great to hear the birds are still around your garden Kiwimade. Not much bird life around here at present after the sea fog the other day. It was a bad one. Lasted for over 24 hours. No planes in or out of Napier.

Good news that Mr P is working out at the gym and walking around the building. All best for Monday Popeye.

Have a great day everyone.
