Toadfish some days ago you made a comment about watching what you eat, because being heavier meant using more energy to bike. It's been really helpful in reminding me about portion sizes and food for snacking, so thanks for that.

Just a quick hello goodbye... am off tommorrow morning leaving the family to fend for themselves... we are one lady short as she is involved in the crisis team and is still in greymouth.... can't imagine that means i have to cycle her leg... think we will let her transponder hitch a ride with the other team. I can't stop thinking of those poor families.. a sad sad day....

best of luck toady, ride girl ride (must be a song somewhere in that title!!) think the vodapone telecom 3 dollar donation is a great idea, its not much and it will soon add up for the miners children. you can do it more than once if you want as well. anyway hope everyone is having a lovely evening.

Thank you all for your love and caring to all the pike miners,we have a much loved uncle and nephew that are down in the mine,we are all so heart broken,for them all.
I am so lonely today so need to be in here,my dd and ds have gone home to there love ones.
I am still waiting for surgery but that is the least of my worries.
I sure hope you are all well,and just know I am thinking of you all.

wonderful day here shame I spent some of that time on the motorway auckland style its such a shocker, going 10-30 kms an hour for 45 mins is not fun to get to one side of auckland to the other - am just talking about the middle bit here!!

We thank you all so very very much,for your kind posts and all.
We have cried buckets and buckets,we will not bring our loves ones back,all we hope is they can bring them back so we can lay them to rest.
They are not hurting any more,they are out of pain.
That is all I will say in this lovely thread.
I am still waiting for surgery,they asked me to ring them in 2 weeks to see where I am on the list.

earthangel, I'm with Charlie in that this *is* the right place to post. If the thread was just full of nice, happy stuff it wouldn't be true to how life is. I lit a candle at the Cathedral for all involved in the mining disaster as well as giving to the relief fund for the miners' children, which is a totally inadequate response.

I too hope 2011 will be a better year for the Coast, Canterbury and Southland.
