popeye - is there somewhere else you can take your vehicle to for a second opinion. I hate being "held to ransom" so to speak. It wouldn't hurt to get someone else to have a look at it.

Woke up late this morning so went for blood tests as it had to be a "fasting" test, and usually I've had two cups of tea before the path lab even opens. Get the results tomorrow then we'll know if I'm still alive or not.

Might go to knitting in a while, but if I do I'll have to get a wriggle on as I haven't had breakfast yet.

As much as I love my car Kuaka, I don't think Ill ever feel safe in it again. And I couldn't sell it to anyone else knowing that it could crumble.
I did ring the glazier this morning and he said he has had the windscreen out twice. Told him I don't have any problems with his work.
for my own mind I think I will ring the panel beater and ask for an itemised account, and ask him to explain the $80 blow out on the price.

Im meant to do my INR today, but that can wait a day. So long as we keep breathing we will be fine lol

made a sale on TM last week and the pick up is done and dusted this morning - awesome lol.
You will love your new car popeye - eventually! And yes, ask for an itemised account, they should have given you one of those anyway.
Well, you can feel the snow even if you can't see it here, the wind has that 'bite' to it.
Am going to start something this afternoon, have no idea what lol but first lunch :)
Happy knitting.

Gidday ladies.
Havn't been posting lately as have had a few problems at home.
Partner (John) hit and killed one of my sister in laws dogs out on the farm. He was in his 4WD and Pip ran under the wheel. John was so upset but Jennifer kept telling him that these things happen and she was the worse dog for doing it.
Mother in law hosipalised yesterday with the onset of empysema (sp) and I'm trying to keep the peace between my brother and sister and Dads new lady friend. I thought i would find it hard with dad meeting someone new but no.
And i asked a question on an auction about exccessive postage and had my head bitten off.
No wonder i got a migraine at work last night.
No knitting at the moment but have to get my A into G cos i want to knit my sister and sister in law a hat and matching snood for their birthdays, one next month (20th) and one in July (2nd).
And my samsung galaxy s3 smartphone crapped out this morning and had to pop into Vodafone to get it fixed, 7-10 days for repairs and i have a loaner phone. iphone3 in the meantime.
Happy knitting everyone.

Ohh Whiskey, hasn't been a great time for you... Hope things improve.

And yep dogs are bad for running under cars... You gotta wonder where their heads are at when they do it.

Yay just had finance approved to get a new car, we will go test drive one tomorrow. It better be good, I don't want to go through this again.
Id happily live without one if I could.
Just gotta hope no one buys it before the morning.

Hi lovelies, haven't read far back but it seems as though everyone is having a rough time at the moment - so love, hugs and best thoughts to all xo
I haven't been able to knit for over a month now (apart from a couple of brief attempts). Had the growth on my finger removed over 3 weeks ago, but due to the type of growth the doctor has had to have another couple of goes at it - so have now had 3 bits removed (and a total of 11 jabs of local in the base of the finger - ouch!) The growth is benign and we think we have got it all this time.......she said hopefully :)
My iPhone died yesterday, I am thinking about getting the Samsung Galaxy whiskey - hope you don't have to wait too long to get yours back.
It's awful the way dogs run around vehicles - especially on farms, it terrifies me!
Popeye, all the best for your new car, what are you getting? I love the station wagon I got a couple of weeks ago, so much easier with the dogs - just have to sell my sedan now so I can pay the money back to our mortgage fund.
I am so far behind with my knitting and sewing, so hope I can get back to it soon!
Take care all xo

Morning All.. Wow Maible that finger is not being so good at the mo eh... Would be frustrating I imagine. And of course if you have a sore finger you have to bash it several times a day. Mine is mending finally thank goodness.
Getting a Toyota Rav 4. Just the two of us here now, and we nearly got one five years ago, but ended up with the Honda. Funny enough its practically the same colour as the Honda so its not going to look odd in the driveway lol.
MrP just told Bob the cat we be bringing home the car today, But Im not ready... Im being a two year old about it... ill have to come home and press the buy now button first. I just don't want a new car,... its really stupid I shouldn't feel this way about it. If it was MrP Id be telling him to grow up.

Didn't do any sewing up yesterday brain isn't in the right space lol...

Have a good day all, stay warm

Oh Whiskey what a time you have had - hope the knitting will help relax you and take your mind off all the other happenings.
Popeye a new car how great. I went for a test drive in a new Honda Jazz Hybrid yesterday not that I will be getting one but I go in a draw to win one so worth a try - not that I ever seem to win things but always give it a go anyway.
I sure hope your finger heals quickly now Maible.
Got the final coat of paint on my bedroom walls yesterday so can sleep in my own bed again tonight. Still have to do the topcoat on the spare bedroom and hall but they can wait until next week as going away for the weekend so will be baking doing a bit of house work today instead of painting.
No matter what other things are on the agenda for the day I still manage to pick up the needles in between times just started a little jersey, not sure who it will be for at this stage but there are several small relies who it could go to.
have a good day all

morning ladies :) damm maible and whiskey, hope things come right for you both. Popeye, you will love your new car lol. I had to buy our last car on my own as MrK was in hospital at the time. Was the first time I haven't had MrK or my Dad with me when buying a car. Was so pleased with myself lol. OK, I bought the same 'brand' as my old car lol but it was automatic instead of manual and a hatchback which I just love.
Got a few things to do in town today. Our son's motor bike was tampered with in Wellington. Someone stuck a screwdriver into the ignition to try and get it started so they could steal it. Has stuffed the ignition and son has an extra $100 on his insurance excess as the bike was parked more than 100m from the house. Heck, the house is up a bloody hill, there is no way he can park it any closer. So off I go to do the righteous mum thing lol. I used to work for this insurance company so I am hoping for good things!
Will try and get some knitting done today. I've started another throw, different pattern and maybe sell this one. Have no idea of a price, any ideas?
Happy knitting :)

Hi all,
gosh a lot of mean spirited stuff has been happening to people I know - someone crashed into a friends parked car last night and just drove away, and your son's bike kiwimade, so frustrating! My daughter has had 2 attempted break ins at her flat in the past week, so she is moving in with her partner sooner than they had planned. She has to move out soon for EQC repairs so it's all worked out ok, I'm glad she won't be alone in her flat anyway.
Whiskey I hope things are going a bit better for you now, have been thinking of you.
jayemtoo you will pleased to get that painting finished, you sound very busy and industrious.
popeye all the best with the car, I loved my old car and didn't really want to get another one, but with the 3 dogs it just wasn't practical. Anyway I so love my wagon now I have finally got it. I actually went out the other just because I wanted to drive it lol, didn't really need to go anywhere. Glad to hear your finger is getting better, I am hopeful that I won't need to have anything more removed from mine.
Lovely and sunny here today so might sit and read for a while, take care all and have a good day xo

Wow I think we can all say we have had enough of the bad stuff.

Amazing what a couple of hours can do. Im happy now about the car. Its a little cutie. Very easy to get in and out of, cos being two door thay are bigger doors. We are going to leave the seats folded up at the back cos we never have a third passenger now. Practically the same colour as ours.
The bonus is he is buying our old car and will have the welding etc done, he has a mate who can do it. And then it will be safe for the next person.

To celebrate I went and got some nice seat covers with cat paw prints over the seat, never had flash ones before. Will be a lot easier to park too which is a bonus.
Got home to a neurology appointment for MrP.. And its at the clinic closer to us rather than Auckland Hospital, so that will be our first trip.

The guy will even bring it out to us and take the old one away, which is a relief cos MrP hasn't driven for months and I don't think he should.

The other good part was I was meant to stop at the fruit shop they had good tall passionfruit plants for $5 so I got us one to add to our poor sick ringbarked one... We have tyres to put around them.

Should get some sewing up done later

have a good day,,

Morning all

Hope the hands aren't getting too cold to knit.

I feel naughty that I haven't done anything with Emily for a couple of days. But I will get there.
It is holding me up from starting on some tiny teddies.

Talking to a friend last night who used to have a rav 4. She said we wont regret getting one. And that they have been looking for another one.. They looked at the one we have brought, but was surprised to see it went soo fast.. ooops lol but she said she was happy we got it lol.
They have had two and loved them both.

So we should have it today.

And Ive decided to go have a word with the panel beater myself, since it was me he gave the quote too and I want an itemised account. He also never told me the quote was without GST. So he might have had it easy with us, Till now....

Have a good day all.

popeye333 - 2013-05-31 08:51:00
1363

morning :) I thought if the quote/account doesn't itemise the GST then it is assumed it is included unless the quote/account specifically says 'excludes GST' so you could at least get your GST back. Might be wrong though so would pay to check that out (IRD maybe?).
Foggy and damp here, typical Waikato winter lol. Hopefully it won't be too foggy for husband to come home over the Kaimai Ranges. Gets quite slippery up there.
Housework then maybe some knitting today. Will see how we go.
Happy knitting :)

Foggy up here too. Started off really thick, then it cleared and the sun came out, but now it's rolling back in again. Plan to do some knitting and have a bit of a tidy up (nothing too drastic!) Have to go out later to post a beanie which I sold over on "felt" yesterday. Then I really should list some more stuff on here. Can't sell it if it's not listed.

kuaka - 2013-05-31 09:09:00
1365

Yes Kiwimade, that's what I was thinking re the GST and he certainly didn't tell me that it didn't include GST. So even if I get that back I will be happier.

We didn't get fog this morning, not that we get a lot here. Had very light rain.

We used in to live in Hamilton and Mangakino so know all about fog. Mango was the worst. used to lift at 1pm and be back down at 3pm... Wasn't easy for drying clothes that's for sure.
I was extremely thankfull we never had piles of kids clothes to wash and bedding etc lol.

Came across the Kiamais a lot when we lived on the Rotorua side. Hit massive ice once, slid towards a bridge, but thankfully we didn't hit it. We went over at about 20kms an hour after that lol

Just printed out papers, signed and returned back. now we have a loan grrr lol... But we should get the car today Yay...

1366

eeekkk Popeye, was that black ice you hit? Very scary and yep, the Kaimais and Mamakus can be damed dangerous this time of the year.
I know Mangakino as well as its awful for fog. Gotta love the Waikato/South Waikato/King Country lol.
Am going to chat to my friend in Texas on Skype shortly and catch up on all the news. Have thrown clothes into the drier, there has only been me this week so not that many and won't take long to dry.
Then I might just curl up with some knitting or sewing :)
Happy knitting :)

Just a quick check in before I start me sisters snood for her birthday.
Had to take the computer in for repairs this morning so this is being posted from my loaner phone.
On my way home from computer shop I stopped in to knit world to look for orange merino 4ply. None. So I carried on to hands Ashford on Norman's road find what I was after so can make a start on it as I have no computer to play on for a few hours

Morning all.. Well we have the new car its a buzzy little thing. Love it. Will put the new seat covers in it and all the junk this morning lol. Its funny cos its about a meter shorter than the Honda so I just tell people the Honda leaked so much it shrunk lol
Then I will finally have some time to start sewing Miss Emily up. Just haven't had the inclination in the last few days.

Its a mixed bag out the window today, overcast but blue sky too. And its not cold Yay.

Had a nice surprise this morning, well not a surprise but Ive gone back to being a good diabetic so behaving myself and not eating what I sholdnt. Ive lost 2 kilos in the last week or so. I cant remember what day I weighed myself last week.
Its shows in my sugar levels already too. I lost 30 kilos last year, but some of that returned, so Im hoping the weight that came back will go again and take some more with it lol.
Hope everyone has a good day..

morning ladies :) Well done popeye :) I must start loosing wieght too or my blood pressure will just get way too high! I knew you would love your new car, it's just making that change!
Boy it's busy on the main road outside today with all the traffic heading Tauranga way. Am glad we are home and had our big weekend away last weekend.
It's not that cold but MrK reckons it is, I guess taking warfarin does that too you too.
Might start on some stumpwork *gasp!! not knitting* lol. I managed to get some florist wire from the local florist anddd omgg MrK had found a whole reel of stainless steel wire in his mancave when I got home. He said he's had it for years and never really wanted to throw it out. OMG this will last me for years lol. Thank goodness for him saving it lol. So now I have more 'stuff' to squirrel away with my sewing and craft bits and pieces.
Happy knitting :)

Hi Kiwimade... Stump work? I will have to google.

Yes like you I don't like being on the roads on public weekends...

Yes warfarin makes you really feel the cold. Thankfully I have always liked the cold. My first winter on it tho, I had a mink blanket (good quality one) for the first time Up here. I wore a hat to sleep too lol... Its not quite so bad now.
Im lucky I might be a big girl but my BP is always normal, same with my older brother, yet my twin like mum has high bp.
Have got MrPs walker in the car, Hes just going to have to cope with my handbag between his feet.
THE CD PLAYER WORKS lol.... YAYAYAY

Have sewn Emilys body and stuffed it. And sewn the seams on the legs. She wont take long to put together, a couple of days I imagine.

Pizza for lunch so best go check it.

Hello all. popeye, the Rav sounds lovely. My sister has one. She loaned it to me five years ago when I went down Central Otago and did the Rail Trail. I never had a bike rack on my car and she did. I really enjoyed driving it.

That's good about the stainless steel wire kiwimade. I've often looked at stump work but looks way to hard for me. Will stick with my cross-stitch, lol.

whiskey - where have you taken your computer to for repairs. I took my laptop in to Global PC at Tower Junction last week. I'm going to have to take it back as I'm still having the same problem with it - keeps crashing - although not as bad as it was.

Started off all right here weather-wise. I was up and out the door at 8.00am to take the fur for an hours walk. It's come over very overcast, cold and a few spots of rain. Rain is predicted here today I think.

I am going to sit and cross-stitch and watch a few things I've recorded. A friend emailed me the other day and asked what plans I had for the long weekend. I said I was going to be a slob! lol. The last 5-6 weekends have been busy and this weekend I've got nothing planned apart from dropping a couple of birthday presents over to two of my great-nieces; taking the fingerless mittens to another one (finally) and might do some baking for my niece tomorrow.

Off to have something for lunch and then I will turn into that slob, lol.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone.. Its a bit dull out there but Ill risk some washing today lol. Time I did a bit of housework , its not too bad but just beyond where I like things to be.
I have done all the sewing for Emily, but haven't put her all together. Her body and legs are tho. But I cant for the life of me figure out how to sew the flowers together. One of the girls at the supermarket has made her tho and she is on my facebook so I might send out a plea. she doesn't work sundays so should be on there at some stage today.
Have a good day everyone, enjoy the long weekend

Hi pats3.
I have been taking my computer to a wee shop on St Asaph St called pcanytime.
I popped in at about 11am on Friday and he (Dave) told me that he had seen this problem about 4 times over the last month so he know what it was and how to fix it.
BUT when i went to collect the computer at about 4pm he was run off his feet and said he couldn't run a full check of it after fixing the problem so didn't charge me for the work he had done. Said to pop it back in if i still had problems.
So far so good.

That sounds like a good place whiskey. I work in St Asaph Street. In the meantime I will have to take it back to back to Global PC as they obviously didn't fix it properly but if I have any more problems might try PC Anytime. Thanks for the info.

Been for a walk this morning. Have done some baking which I will take over to my niece soon, then over to a nephew's place to drop in the birthday presents and then back home to get back in to my cross-stitch.

Found a site with some lovely peggy squares that I want to try - they look fairly easy, so hopefully I'll be able to do them. Might make a start next weekend, all going well.

morning ladies from a dull and overcast Hinuera :) MrK is making a start on the lawns for me, he does half and I do the rest lol - we both enjoy mowing so this is a compromise. The Furry One is outside 'helping' as only a JR can. So I've been having a bit of a tutu with this stumping and I must admit, I'm enjoying a new challenge. Am just pottering about with it at the moment and practising my stitches as it's been a while since I've done more than cross stitch. And just like my knitting, it's something I haven't really forgotten :). So am making a 3D leaf, just to get my head around it all and might try my hand at designing a wee picture to stitch.
Have also begun another throw as I have heaps of yarn left over from the first one. Not sure if I will sell this one or keep it.
Looks like MrK is almost finished his half of the lawn so I'll get my bit done then have another tutu lol.
Happy knitting :)

Happy mowing Kiwimade, I used to mow lawns for a job... We have a contractor now lol.
I must look up this stumping.
Talked to the lady from the supermarket. She didn't make the flowers like the book did. But told me what she did.
Ive got to sew the arms on then can sew the belt on. Then its just the face, collar and hair and Im done.
Going to make a couple of tiny teddies as a sample. Then get onto another big clown doll.
I even shocked myself and got the duster out this morning lol... But the house feels better.

Morning all...

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Have a productive day all

Craftylady1 is very pleased with her.. will send her down later after she has been to supermarket lol

Have knitted 6 tiny teddies today. will sew tonight,. To break it up.. Havent got a clue how much to charge for them

popeye - where did you get the pattern for the tiny teddies, (if you don't mind me asking). Would love to see a pic of them when you've sewn them up.

popeye - Emily looks gorgeous. Will be interested in seeing the Tiny Teddies. I keep thinking of those gingernut Tiny Teddies, lol. Would also be interested in where you got the pattern from.

A nothing sort of a day for me. All my plans went out the window. Did get a big pile of ironing done!! I hate ironing :-( My husband called in and ended up staying a couple of hours - he saved me some money really as I had intended going to Spotlight sale, lol. Going to get myself something to eat and then do some more on my birth sampler.

I have about five rows of unpicking to do, made a very obvious mistake last evening. That will teach me to think I know the pattern off by heart lol.
Happy knitting.

Morning all.. Ohhh noo at the unpicking. I hate doing that.

I found an easier way to put the arms in the tiny teddies.. Push them through before you stuff the body and it makes it a lot easier. Have one to stuff from yesterday.

Will get time later to knit, I have a few jobs to do this morning, like copying some cds for MrP for the car. He loves his country music. I want to try and encourage him to help tidy his frustrating mess in the garage, but have to test the water and see how he is feeling before I do that.

Have a good day all

Raining and windy here today a good day to finish off tidying my back room. Will put on some soup first forgot the shin meat but have a chicken carcass from yesterday so will try that.I haven't posted on here for a while but do try and get to read it as often as poss.

mmmmmm homemade chook soup, I use chook carcasses left over from dinner etc to make soup (add corn and other vegies.... yummmmm).
Popeye, MrK loves his country music too so I often burn Cds for him (OK, for me too lol). Funny how after knitting or following a pattern a few times you figure out a better way of doing it. The throw I'm making is supposed to be made up of 11 pieces - buggar that lol, I'm knitting it three. Won't save on the 'knitting' time as I estimate it will take the same amount of time to knit this way but will when it comes to sewing up.
Happy knitting.

I thought I had finished a shawl I was making - held it up....when I started the edging on the last side I had turned the needle over and so the edging was twisted, had to undo 350 rows of between 37 and 46 stitches of a lace pattern of many p2tog and yo! Good job I hadn't told the customer her shawl was almost finished.

nannymaid - 2013-06-04 15:10:00
1390

omgggg nannymaid! That is just gut wrenching. At least mine was four ply over 151 stitches with only a bit of yon, sl1, k2tog, psso and only five rows! The worst part for me is always knitting/purling that first row after unpicking. Would love to see a pic of the shawl when finished :)

1391

Ohhh wow nannymaid. That would have ended up in the bin with me, if it was for me that is.
I hate undoing and have to do it stitch by stitch. Id have probably gone and brought more wool the same and made a new one. And then finished the other for myself mistake and all.

These are the tiny teddies Ive been making. they are roughly 7cms. I don't like the faces but they do need them. Theres no way to hide the black wool so Ive used a pen and don't like it

Popeye - there is no way I could have stitched up the side seam on the centre part with the wide edging twisted, it was one that attached to the main body as you knitted it, and I had completely flipped the needle over somehow. It turned out to be a lousy weekend - the following evening I was making custard and had the custard mix ready to add to the heating milk and up-ended the mix all down my front, the cupboard doors, the work top and the floor. How does milk increase in volume so much when you spill it. I had 12 people here and I was rendered speechless!! 2 of my gorgeous sons cleaned it up for me (some even went under the fridge), the following day I broke my gold chain on the wash basket and yesterday I was in the supermarket and taking a large storage ottoman to the checkout and the edge caught a flimsy cardboard display tray which contained about 6 doz little tins of mints - what a racket when that lot hit the floor - I could have cried with embarrassment! I'm scared to death to find out what else will do wrong.

Morning all.

Ohh nannymaid, not a great time for you... I hope that's it and nothing else happens.
We had a week from hell years ago. The lawnmower caught fire, the washing machine died. the budgie died, the axle on the trailer broke and mrPs ex wife moved into the same small town we lived in.
We decided to buy a lotto that week and thankfully won enough for a new washing machine. My stepfather leant us one of his lawmowers, he was a contractor.
Im sure it will improve for you.

I didn't knit last night.. Im over the teddies I don't really like making them.

Taking MrP to a neurology appointment today. Our first long run in the new car.

Have a good day all

Nannymaid what a time you have been having surely that is more than the three things which go together and now it can only become good again.
The teddies are cute Popeye but must have been fiddly to make.

Had a lovely weekend in Raumati where we belatedly celebrated a sister's 60th birthday. Her daughters and my other sister and I pooled together to make a large basket of 60 gifts for her which was a lot of fun. The gifts were not expensive things but things which related to her and brought about a lot of memories and laughter.
Did a bit of knitting but as we were talking so much at the time it seemed that I ended up having to sort out more mistakes than actually progressing.

Now off to put the top coat of paint on the back bedroom walls, it's a cold wet day so hope the paint doesn't take too long to dry, not that it really matters I don't need that room at the moment.

Thanks everyone for your kindness in the face of all my dilemmas. Up to now the last 2 days seem to be calamity free....long may it last! Hope to get the shawl to the blocking stage today so I can send it off on Monday. So far it has taken me 4 weeks and I have often done it in 2.5 weeks, but I have had a lot of full on days lately with family happenings which meant I have not been able to put the time into the needles.

Afternoon all.. I had an early start today, took the car to the garage, it had a hole in the muffler, MrP decided he wanted it replaced, But I went and did the shopping before I took the car back.
Im getting a reputation as the dolly lady lol. I don't like the thought of them getting dirty in the trundlers so walk around with them in my arms lol.. Well one anyway lol

I think I will start this rasta maori doll my friends partner wants.. Going to be different that's for sure. It will be the red nose gang size. But Ill have to figure out how he will be dressed. At least I now how to do his dreadlocks lol.
Planted out passionfruit plant before... Have to cut the tyres to put around all the plants now. Ill have to chase MrP on that or it wont get done.

Its a lovely day out there but the wind is freezing,, the lounge will warm up now the sun is just starting to come in the ranchsliders...

Have a good day all

Freezing here too - we don't get the sun at this time of the year, but we have a fabulous view instead (we couldn't afford both!!) have had the heat pump chugging away all day but I've just lit the woodfire. It will soon be too hot I suppose.
