I reckon you can never have too much wool either

morning ladies :)

You would think the dietician would just let your mum eat, Gerry. At 101 I think it's safe to say her diet has been more than adequate over the years!

We looked at solar , flick, but we don't use enough power to make it worth our while. We're looking into wind turbines too, small ones for the householder but I suspect we will have the same result as solar.

Dad is home from hospital, he had a chest infection which doesn't help his COPD. The antibiotics should be kicking in. And his medication has been changed around a bit which has him a tad confused. His short term memory isn't 'all there' which is a worry.

I have a pile of things to go to the Sallies this morning and then hopefully I can plant the roses I bought the other day. I'm running out of garden lol, might have to expand :P

Better get cracking, the waxeyes are tapping their toes for their breakfast. They drink a full mason jar of sugar water every two days and that needs filling as well as fresh fruit. I'll make some more bird puddings today too.

Knitting, crochet or stitching this afternoon and yoga this evening.

Happy knitting :)

Hi Ladies Bugger, Bugger. I just lost my message to you all. Will have to make a move as we are having our water pipes cleaned today, need to do a couple of jobs first.
Catch up with you all later.
Happy Days

Good morning all - much warmer here today so off to the park later
Yes it's ridiculous - Mum has been around 48kg for as she would say donkeys years and is still very mobile - if she was overweight like all her children and was confined to bed the dietician might have a point
Popeye somebody must make these little fridges - would be ideal in hospital - Mum loves cheese and crackers - so now we are able to pop all sorts of titbits in for her -
I ordered a grill pan for my air fryer on Amazon on the 24th it cleared customer and arrived on my doorstep yesterday - if I had ordered it from somewhere in NZ chances are I would still be waiting! It's an extra and I can't believe I was so stupid I forgot to take it out my old one before I got Robie to throw it in his big bin - thought about asking him to retrieve it but thought maybe not - there would have been a day of twos rubbish from the supermarket on top of it!
Hope your Dad makes a quick recovery Kiwimaid - so envy you and the wax eyes - have tuis in the big trees over the fence and hundreds if sparrows
Well better get the washing out
Have a good day everybody

Afternoon Everyone

Glad to hear your dad is on the mend Kiwimade. They are a worry arent they.
Flick glad one thing has been crossed off the list. Still doesnt make it any easier tho. And the teenage years too me are the fun years before all the serious work, family stuff happens.

Wow Gerry your mum must be a tiny thing. And I agree, her diet has got her this far. Knew a man, the only other man I ever called dad and he loved his cream on his breakfast. He was in his 80s when he died.
Thats why Im not stopping MrP from having what he wants. Why be miserable in your last years.

A friend has been I gave her the other cake.. We just had a piece of ours for lunch. I ws surprised to find it a little dry, but has plenty of icing to sort that.

We had 5 wax eyes this morning, so Word must be getting out... What ratio do you do for the sugar water Kiwimade? We love encouraging birds so should be able to sort something out for them.

Nurse has been and changed my bits. Friend stayed and watched, she was surprised and amazed.. shes had 7 kids so figured she could handle it. But she did say afterwards one part made her feel a slight flush of faintness lol.

Time for a play

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Thanks for the photo Gerry, I've passed it on to popeye. We were just wondering which person was you?

For the sugar water popeye, I have no particular ratio, just pour in a good half cup then some hot water to dissolve it and then top it up with cold water. The birds seem to love it first thing in the morning when the water is warm. I used to do half a cup of sugar to two cups of water but aren't quite so fussy now. Another apple is out for them this morning and I'll cut a grapefruit in half for them when I get the bucket full out of dad's car shortly. MrK has built a shelf on the fence for more fruit so we can see them from the dining room. And we leave the compost bin lid open for the day and they feed there too on the scrappy bits of fruit I toss in. So wherever we go, there are waxeyes lol.

Crafting this afternoon I hope, last evening's yoga was pretty full on and I still feel zenned out.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Thanks for sharing the photo Gerry.. Your mum is soo tiny and I just want to give her a cuddle lol.

Thanks Kiwimade I will do some sugar water for our bird visitors too. I have a tangelo I stipped naked yesterday so will cut that for them too lol.

On a slow go today, just a bit fed up with lugging the machine around. But Working with dates i dont have too go to the bank like I thoughtn I would, so thats one less wander with the pump. Can do that next week. but still have 2 stops to make.
I cant wait for the day that I can get out of bed and not have to carry it and set it up on a stool to have a shower etc. But it is doing what its meant to do.
Didnt get any knitting done yesterday. I need to make sure I do some, cos it helps my head.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning - beautiful day here - going to get to 18 the. Forecast is for days of rain so will make the most of today
Yes my Mum sure is tiny - I am the one standing by the chair - that's my brother on his knees you can see what I mean about what a worry it will be if he has to have surgery - he works 14 hours a day driving his loader in the bush and eats all the wrong food - but I can't talk I only ever want to put one foot on the scales !
Hope my love knitting order arrives in time for the rainy week

Good Morning Everyone. Had one of those days yesterday that just turned to custard.
We end up having dirty water coming out of our pipes for hours. So took off down to Ahuriri had lunch and watched the boats and ships out on the water. Our port is very busy these days. Did some reading and knitting. Mr S had a sleep. He did not have a good night. For the ones that know the area, Ahuriri has a lovely shopping area and places to eat. .It is a village that supports the industry around the port.
When we came down to Napier live all along the roads was the very old little fishermen and workers cottages. Most have gone now.
Did some knitting last night.
Mr S had an appointment for the Doctors this morning I had to ring and ask for a home visit as he is so unwell. Doctor due at around 11 30 am. His chest is not clearing up and very tired.

Sorry to hear your dad been unwell kiwimade We also feed the birds in our backyard. We have a feeding table and a couple of feeding bays hanging in our Silk Tree. Can watch as we have our own b/fast in the mornings.

.Glad you are able to take baking and other goodies that your mum likes. At 101 you should be able to eat what you like. Hope the test results your brother waiting is on all good Gerry.

Popeye good hear you are doing well. Just think it Summer and everyone will see a new you.
Time to move as I will pack a bag for Mr S just in case he goes into hospital.
Have a great day.
Happy crafting.

Morning ladies, I got home yesterday morning, well back into Auckland and checked in with Air NZ for my flight north which didn't go till almost 2pm. A friend picked me up at Auckland airport and took me to the botanic gardens and we had a wander round there and then a coffee and then took me back to the domestic terminal. A couple of friends (neighbours) picked me up from the airport and brought me home via the Four Square shop so I could get some milk, and then they came back for drinks and a catch up in the evening, so my planned (and longed for) shower didn't happen till this morning. I was surprised how antiquated my sisters bathroom is considering she has a nice home. She said the shower downstairs isn't reliable - only works when it feels like it - so she said she uses the shower over the bath in the en suite. But it's only a hand held shower and there is no curtain or anything to stop the water going all over the floor, so I had to sit in the bath and just use the hand held shower. Gosh my shower felt good this morning!

Well it was lovely to be away but it's super to be home. I really enjoyed it all - I was surprised at how old my sister looks and how slow she is at doing everything. She put on a lovely afternoon tea for me one day and I caught up with two "girls" that I was at school with and haven't seen since. That was interesting. One is a widow and the other one has been married and divorced five times.

I wasn't able to read everything while I was away because I only had my phone with me and I could only read half a line, the second half of the posts wouldn't show no matter which way I turned the phone - it was really annoying.

I haven't read all that I missed but I will just say that as for diets for the elderly, I think it's ridiculous making them give up things they've eaten for nigh on a century because it's "not good for us". Twaddle. Mr K used to tell his mother that she put too much salt on her food and she used to glare at him and say "I'm 96 son". Exactly.

The trip to France was very interesting, especially when I discovered that we were North West of Limoges not South East as I had thought. My sense of direction completely flipped once we crossed the equator on the way over to England. It resumed normal service when I got to my home town, and I always know that the sea is south and get my bearings from where I am in relation to the sea.

Right, I have a few things to do, unpack, washing and I need to pick up my car keys from a friend and hope the car will start, as it needs to go in for a WOF tomorrow - that expired while I was away.

I have a nice sun tan but by the time it's warm enough here to show it off, it will have faded. While I was in France it was too hot most of the time to go outdoors. My friend and I were assigned the task of "pointing a wall" in a stone barn. That was fun. We knew it was a "working holiday" although it only took us a day and a half (not full days) and we were there a week, so we had plenty of time to relax too.

I had a most interesting conversation with a Frenchman in Dubai. He seemed determined to converse with me, even though he spoke no English and I speak no French. Bizarre!

Right, I better do the dishes and washing, and this afternoon I need to go to the bank and get a few groceries. I have to walk into town so I won't be buying much, just eggs and some greens.

I will try to knit if I can stay awake tonight. It was so nice to sleep in my own bed last night. Bliss!

Have a super day everyone.

Welcome Home Kuaka..
Was thinking this morning you must have been due back. Glad you had a wonderful time.
Ohh my 5 marriages, I couldnt be bothered trying to train that many men lol.
Ohh I know the feeling of sleeping in your own bed. this is my first week of doing it myself.
3 months today from my surgery, has it gone fast.. No and yes lol.. The days in hospital were long but home isnt going too bad.

Left to do the shopping late, needless to say we have only just had lunch. And only the chilled stuff has been put away so far.

Went to our recycle centre to buy rubbish bags and managed to get a lovely long white rectangle platter for $4.. The stuff they have in there I have no idea why people throw it out.

Right time to sit and relax and Im thinking a sausage sizzle for tea, nice and easy and light since we have had lunch so late

Morning ladies, where is everyone today?

Well of course my car wouldn't start because the battery was down, I checked it and it was only 9.7v instead of 12+ and of course before I went away I lent my battery charger to one of the neighbours so I phoned her but she was in Kerikeri for the afternoon. Anyway it didn't take long to charge the battery and it started, so fingers crossed it will start again when I go out shortly.

Knit and natter this morning. Seems ages since I've been. I will need to take a "no think" project as I am still feeling a bit jaded from the long flight.

I need a haircut, I had it done just before I went away but it seems to have grown a lot, I always think it grows quicker in the summer, so I suppose that is why it's grown so quickly because it's just had 4 weeks of summer.

Right, I had better press on.

Have a super day everyone.

Afternoon all
A slow day for me, trying not to move too much. My wound is starting to smell and theres no room to be seen today. It always makes me feel sick.

A friend dropped by with sokme lemonade for MrP Our stupid NW doesnt stock the diet version, so as my friend was going to Puke she went to Pak n Save for me.
Think I will get her to get some on her shopping days for me. but I like to be able to give her cash before she goes.. or at least straight away.

Speaking of our NW, they are doing renovations at our 10 yr old shop. It still feels new but these renos bring it into the same style as the newer versions. working on two sides so there is alot of congestion in the middle lol.

Ohh the Wax eyes are loving their tangelo... So cool to see. And I enjoyed the three raspberries I picked this morning.. crazy weather lol.

Have a fab day all

morning ladies and welcome home kuaka!

Dad has been in and out of hospital and is now in a rest home for two weeks to recuperate. It's a new trial Waikato Hosp are trying and dad is the first to try it. If you aren't sick enough for hospital but you need constant monitoring then they pop you into a rest home to recover. I've had a couple of calls from the home this morning to say they have sent dad back into hospital and he will come back to them when he can. I may go and visit and take him back myself, will phone Waikato Hosp and see how he is doing first. It's a 40 minute trip there and loads of waiting around. I know it sounds selfish but I've done this so many times between MrK and now Dad, I'm kinda over it all. Call me a b****, I don't care. My blood pressure is up and my doc has told me I have to look after me. Anyhoo, sorry about the 'rant', I think it's just as well I'm not a nurse lol.

Happy knitting :)

Good Morning everyone. Welcome home Kuaka to our winter. Good news the car is ok.
Wet and cold here, will bring more wood in and get a fire going when Mr S gets up Need. to unpick the final seed stitch border rows (4) I knitted last night. Was hoping to block it when I got up this morning. It's been a slow start this morning.
It lovely to see the birds come into the yard to feed. Our cat looks out behind the glass door slider.
Will also get some baking done later in the day as I have empty tins. Gerry, I hope your mum is enjoying her cakes and other goodies.
Enjoy your day everyone and stay warm

Kiwimade, your not a B****** I know just how stressfull and over it you can get. I ended up writing a letter to the drs at the hospital when Mum went in the last time, told them we werent well enough to look after her and not to send her home until she could walk.
My dr wanted me to have a two week break. I told him it wouldnt be a break Id be wondering which one would be dead by the time I got home. I had a day out instead. didnt give them a thought as to how they were getting on and didnt tell them where I was going.. And also told them not to ring unless the house was burning down.
Maybe time to consider a more permanent stay in a rest home. But Im not going to say thats what you should do. Cos I know it got my back up with mum and when people suggest it with MrP.. ill know when I cant do it any more.. and you will too.. Were Not Bulls for nothing.

Take care

Hi The Hospital Board here in Hawkes Bay have been putting patients into rest homes or the hospital in the villages that have wards for some time now. This means I cannot get respite care for Mr S. He has 28 days that run out at the end of Jan'21.
In the meantime, he has been twice now with his chest infection. Send home after 6 nights and the second time 5 nights. In the last 3 weeks, he been or had Doctor to him 4 times. Phone the Department and asked if they could get him a bed came back and said it be the end of Sept early Oct. I am so over this. I asked my self if I am a B***** to Kiwimade and no you are not. a B*****. Let your family help you I was told. Ha Ha family in England and I lost my brother last Oct.Hang in there Kiwimade and keep asking and asking for that help. As Popeye said It may be time to look around at rest homes for your dad Hope your dad is feeling a little better today..

morning ladies :) Thank you for your support with dad. He has just phoned and demanded, yep, demanded, not asked I take a few things up to the hospital for him. He can dam well wait a bit. I think he is thinking a rest home is the place to be as when I was driving him there he said maybe he should have done this in the first place. I nearly choked! My sister and I suggested it and I had told him I would go with him to suss it all out and be there every step of the way. But nope, he knew best and lied on his assessment. Thank goodness I was there when the rest home nurse was doing an assessment as I corrected him several times as he was lying through his teeth. I think it's one of those things that has to be his idea. Right-o, better get cracking.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Oh I so know how yoou are feeling Kiwimade.. Hopefully your dad will end up liking where he is, or more to the point, Admitting to liking where he is when hes on respite care. dont forget too that you can have him put in there so You get respite. Carers get respite care allowed for them too.

More than anything all I wanted during the whole saga with Mum was "Normal" I wanted a normal day that didnt involve one or two 45 there and back trips to the hospital.

I Had normal yesterday, well nearly lol.. The nurse came and changed my dressings.. Its looking soo good now. And then I pottered all day putting things away and gathering the rubbish and recycling etc. Had more energy yesterday than I have in many many weeks.
Today I have promised MrP to make him some Apple strudel. He will peel the apples, and Ill put them together and bake. hes been quite supportive the last few weeks so Ill do something nice for him.
So his hair cut and beard trim will be on tomorrows agenda.. Very nervous about doing his beard, Ive never trimmed a beard before.

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2018-08-05 09:31:00
13826

Morning ladies, popeye don't worry about trimming a beard, I used to do Mr Ks, the worst part was he would fidget, so I just told him if he didn't keep still he would end up with a lopsided beard or worse, I'd cut his ear or throat. That usually was enough to keep him still.

Looks like being a fabulous day today. I slept in the chair from about 6 last night till 10, and of course hadn't had any tea, so I had two slices of toast and went to bed. I was freezing in bed, and took ages to warm up. I slept on and off all night and at one stage I dreamed that someone brought me a nice freshly baked chocolate chip cookie with extra chocolate on top. I scoffed if and it tasted so good - and the dream was so real. I must have been hungry.

I must have also been either sleepy or dopey last night because I sewed the seam on a fingerless glove and left the thumb opening in the wrong place and had to unpick it.

Kiwimade I hope you manage to get things sorted out soon. Just keep asking for all the help you need. You are entitled. And don't feel bad if your dad has to go into a home. I went to visit my ex-husband's uncle in the UK who has been in a home since his wife died, and he loves it. He says he organises quizzes and bingo twice a week, he's got a little veg garden and he doesn't have to worry about a thing, and he said the food is marvellous and he doesn't have to cook it or do the dishes! He's very happy. He's 98 and still got his marbles.

Right, I have things to do.

Have a super day everyone.

Good afternoon - breezy cool day here - rain threatening I think so no walk in the park or Ash today
Thank you all for your support about my Mum and her food - if she was over weight and bed ridden I might think about not baking for her - but probably not!
When I was caring for Mr G it wasn't only physically bloody exhausting but just so mentally draining as well - sometimes I would go with him in the ambulance and sit over there for hours - waiting to see somebody - often his breathing had normalised and we would get sent home and I would be thinking I could be having a sleep .Hope your Dad comes to the right decision before he wears you out Kiwimade .My Mum decided for herself she didn't want to live with any of us - she thought about living out with my brother at the beach but then decided they both work and she would have soon got bored looking at the sea all day. She stunned us yesterday - we asked what she wants to do on her birthday and she thinks she might like to go on a holiday - Dad used to take her to Army Bay it is somewhere near Kati Kati I think - they used to fish off a little jetty and she faces having a day or two there ! But then she remembered her birds - they come in everyday around 2.30 to her feeder and she doesn't trust the staff to put the food out!
Must have been the night for broken sleep Kuaka - I had an awful night - feel as old as my Mum this morning - I had a wee sleep in the chair and it is always a bad idea -
Strudel sounds nice Popeye

morning ladies :) You are all right, I need to ask for more help and dad also needs to do his bit too. I'll phone him today and see how he's going, I bought him a cheapie mobile phone as sometimes it's hard to get through at the hospital and I feel like I am wasting the nurses time with them taking the phone to him. Dad finally saw the sense in having a mobile. Baby steps!

Omg Gerry, your mum is amazing! And I know how she feels about the birds lol. Mine are fed every morning after breakfast and boy do they let me know if I've forgotten! They have a routine too ya know!

I haven't had much time for crafting, I've flagged the cross stitch as I can't see 32 count linen anymore. And I'm not concentrating very well either. I need a no-brainer of a project so will go back to my blanket and finish that off. I only need another dozen squares so might as well get it finished. Then I'll start my throw for the couch.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Make time for yoou too Kiwimade.. And yep a mobile is good for saving the nurses.. MrP has one but never remembers how to use it. And he has big mans fingers with pins in so pressing buttons on phones is not easy.

Windows and doors today. A friend is coming in to do them for me. The window behind the kitchen window I cant reach and the two doors I cant bend over long enough.

I did a mini bake yesterday and made some apple strudel for MrP. He peeled and cut the apples up so that saved me a job too. And I have a small bowl of stewed apple to have on my weetbix too for a change.

I am pretty sure I will need a Nana nap later. I was awake every hour through the night. I went and put the wheelie bin out and got back into bed wrong and hurt my tummy.

Once the windows etc are done I hope to get to MrPs hair and beard lol

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, thick fog here this morning and just when it looked like it was going to disappear, it has thickened up again. Not very tropical either, but at the moment, nobody else has any sun so I don't feel quite so deprived as I usually do.

kiwimade my little waxeyes won't go near the grapefruit I put out for them, fussy little critters. They like banana or orange. Mine usually visit from May till September, there are quite a few of them at the moment, impossible to count, they don't stay still long enough.

I fell asleep in the chair again last night, but at least it was after I'd had tea. I woke after 10 and went to bed and slept till just after 4, so I might be needing a nana nap today.

I cleaned the car yesterday (well washed the dirt off it) but I didn't dry it, wax it or do inside. It does look a bit better. Even the mechanic when I took it for it's wof the other day commented on the dirt.

But I didn't get any weeding done, so if the weather clears up I need to get stuck in and do some gardening. It is a bit of a mess.

And of course find enough time to do some knitting.

Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning Everyone. Damp, but warm here today. I'm over the rain, I want to block my baby blanket so he can be warm and dry. Yes, he slowly adding more weight.
Knit and Natter this morning and not sure what will be been on my knitting needles today. Have a project bag with everything in it for a baby hat that I can pick up as I head out later. Will sort out a pattern and wool for a wrap later today. Spend time doing a cleanup in the drawers and cu[boards in the kitchen yesterday afternoon and baked a cake.

Come on Kiwimade you will enjoy your blanket once you finish it and during the meantime think about your next knitting project. Perhaps something for yourself. Once the weather is fine you will be out in the gardens again. Love how the birds are around your place. Very little around our place.
Kuaka, Popeye, Gerry have a great day and enjoy what you want to do. It may be knitting, sewing, baking, watching TV, going for a walk or catching up with some friend or sleep.
Have a great day ladies.

Tis a beautiful clear day out there now the fog has lifted.

morning ladies. Well yesterday was spent running round after dad and getting groceries, was shattered by the end of the day.

Dad's latest thing is wanting his car at the rest home so he can come back here to 'visit us' during the day. I think he has missed the whole point of being there. I spoke to the receptionist who said he could but she saw the look on my face and said, we can tell him whatever you want us too! So, they have told him the car park is too busy as it is shared with the medical centre (not a lie, it really is busy and sometimes you can't even get a park) an only permanent residents have a car park. She was going to e mail all the nurses and tell them the same thing as he would ask them about it too. He is enjoying being there though, said the bed was comfy, food great and staff awesome. Fingers crossed!

Am beavering away on this bed blanket, almost there, only seven squares to go. Want to finish it as the wool from Love Kniitting is a gorgeous rust/orange colour and I can't wait to see it knitted up in a throw.

Lawns to mow first though before it rains, shower, then lunch with a friend. The fish monger is in town today so I'll buy some fish for dinner while in town. It's so fresh, better than the supermarket. And Yoga this evening, I sure need it this week.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, knit and natter this morning so I need something "no think". I was so tired again last night I was in bed and out like a light at 9.30 but at midnight I was awake again. I thought "blow it, this is ridiculous" so took half a sleeping pill and slept till just after 7, so hopefully my body will finally get back to NZ time.

Miserable day here so far, not very warm, very grey and quite damp. Yesterday I managed to do some gardening but stopped before my back complained. I will have to keep at it and just do it as and when I feel like it and can spare the time.

Daughter's birthday today. She is 49 - that does make me feel old, especially as she is the baby.

Right, better press on.

Have a super day everyone.

Def doing MrPs hair etc this morning, when Im finished on here...Or Ill never hear the end of it. He will start threatening to cut it all off with the clippers soon. Impatient little pup he is.

Grey here too but not terribly cold.

Enjoy your Yoga Kiwimade. It will be good for mind and body.. And yep it helps when you can have the staff on your side, re the car.

Have a fab day everyone

Good evening
I am out with Mum - she is fascinated that we "talk " to each other regularly about all the things she is interested in - said she would have loved to belong back in the day - she would have loved to share her handicraft
Anyway she is going to tell a bird feeding story - I am typing what she says
When the children were little their Dad was building up a trucking firm - the depot was our back yard and the office was a corner of my sideboard. I always fed birds stray cats and stray kids. A young seagull started visiting every day - landing on the roof of our back porch squawking for food so I started giving it mince - it still had its brown young bird feathers so I told the children it belonged to the Seagull Army - they were always extremely guillable .One day I was trying to get one of the drivers wages done -I had 4 children by then - the youngest baby was wanting a feed and I asked my four year old who you know as Gerry to please jiggle the pram or something just while I got finished - well she always had the last say and was busy telling me she never wanted another baby sister so why should she have to look after it - she was really playing up - the driver arrived at the door - he was an absolute mountain of a man - big giant my children used to call him - he picked her up in one hand and plonked her up on the porch roof and told her he would leave her there for the seagull ! He stood there so she couldn't fall but I think everybody in Bay View would have heard her - but it didn't last she always had and still does have the last say!
By the way for my birthday tomorrow I am having KFC

lol lovely to 'meet' you Gerry's Mum :) what a great story! Happy birthday for tomorrow and I hope you enjoy your KFC :P

Four squares to go! Am itching to start knitting this new wool but nope, will be good and finish this blanket. So close to finishing after two years of flaffing around with knitting the squares. I'm using my stash but have bought yarn to do the edgings and as a last row on each square.

Better get organized for yoga, I really need it this week.

Happy Birthday Tomorrow for Nana Gerry. I say that as a sign of respect not cheek.. what a lovely Memory. And do enjoy your KFC tomorrow. We have decided to have it for our 27th wedding anniversary at the end of the month.
Gerry Do you remember being on the roof in fear of the seagull coming to get you?
I would imagine by the time you get to 4 plus children there wouldnt be much time to do handcrafts etc, especially if your suddenly the Secretary of a business too.

Glad you are getting through the squares Kiwimade.. My knitting has come to a screaming halt.. But I dont have any special plans from now on, so hopefully Ill be back to it again.

Counted 6 waxeyes that I could see earlier. So the news is getting around..
So many people seem to forget how Wondeful Nature is.

Enjoy your Yoga Kiwimade...

morning ladies and happy birthday to Gerry's Mum!

I feel like I'm a punching bag today. The other day I went a over t on the ramp, I stepped on a wet leaf and my feet went out from under me. I landed on my back which is fine but I pulled muscles down the right hand side of my neck and my abs know they have been stretched too. Yoga last evening was a very delicate affair and I felt like a complete beginner. But the beauty of it is you only go as far as your body lets you so all good. Mowing the lawn yesterday probably didn't help much either but at least they are done for now.

Three squares to go and I have some sewing I want to do today as well. It's going to be wet outside so a good chance to get it done. I'll plant the lilies I bought at half price first so they are in the ground and feed the waxeyes. Six is great popeye, word will spread very quickly and soon you will have lots more. Ours will disappear around September and come back in June.

Happy knitting :)

Happy birthday to Gerry's mum. What a lovely story. Reminds me of the time mum and her friend took me to the local pet's corner of the park/zoo complex. Mum and her friend went into the conservatory admiring all the exotic plants which couldn't be grown outdoors in England, and at one end of the conservatory, was a row of cages with monkeys of some sort. I was admiring the monkeys and suddenly one put it's arms out through the cage and grabbed hold of my coat, yanking me so my face was up against the cage. Mum said I let out a blood curdling scream, and they raced to pull me away from the monkey. I remember it quite vividly, I was probably about five.

Shopping today in Kerikeri. I want to go to the Warehouse first to take something back and to hopefully get some veg plants for the garden, I must get stuck in and replant it, there's stuff all in the garden except for a couple of straggly silverbeet and some broccoli which are struggling. I do like to be able to pick stuff from the garden.

Then grocery shopping and I might pop into Bunnings and see if they have those Karcher window thingies, I have a $100 prezzy card I'm hoping to use. Not sure if Bunnings accept it, but I will find out.

The fog has lifted and it looks like being an okay sort of day.

My crafts seem to have ground to a halt too. I was hoping to finish another cow puzzle ball before Saturday. I took it to knit and natter yesterday but kept going wrong and ended up not doing much. I tried doing some last night but fell asleep in the chair. (It was cold yesterday and I lit the fire, and that often sends me to sleep)

Right, get a into g - sorry to hear about your spill kiwimade, hope you soon get back to normal.

Have a super day everyone

Morning everyone

Woohoo I saw 7 this morning. I out a new seed cake out and some bread.. at one stage there was a waxeye sitting on the middle of the crust surrounded in sparrows eating around it... I thought it was rather brave of it.. I must look Ive noticed some have a slight red splash down there sides, and some dont,. so Im assuming one of them is male and the other female.

Ouchies Kiwimade re the fall.. It totlly unsettles the system for a while. Be gentle with yourself.

Happy Birthday Gerrys Mum.. I hope yoou enjoy your KFC for lunch.. And have a wonderful day.

I have a fair bit to do up the road this morning. Woke up with my left leg pinched and I thought Ohh heck this isnt going to be fun, but Ive managed to unpinch it that goodness.

Only one trouble with the birds, I suspect if I allowed myself hours could pass by simply watching them lol.
Do they go to warmer climates for the spring?

Have a wonderful day everyone

I'm back from town, a quick visit to dad as he had run out of his inhalers. They are putting him on oxygen today for a bit so hopefully that will help his breathing a bit more.

I don't know where they go in the spring, popeye. And yes, they are wonderful time wasters lol. I have hundreds of photos now of them and can get quite close. Even the Furry One racing around under the feeding station doesn't stop them.

Time for a cuppa, then plant the lilies and I must make some more bird pudding too.

Morning everyone

Yep up early. Its Mid winter christmas at our chemist today, so I want to be there early for freebies and fun. They are such an awesome team and it will be lots of laughs.

Had a fairly quiet day yesterday. Did the shopping and read the papers.. and not alot else lol.. I really need to get back to the knitting.

Nurse is due today too but Ill leave them a message so they come later, after I get home.
Will have a wander through the St Johns oppy this morning too I think, since MrP wont be with me. They have a loyalty card that is stamped each time you spend $10 and then you get $10 free, and mines full.
May manage to meet up with a friend whose hubby went to our cheap fruit shop for us last night on his way home from work, and get the stuff she got for me. Cheap as in Oranges $1 a kilo, mandarins, kiwifruit, etc $1 a bag. Always good quality. And no reason for families to go without fruit and veges at those prices.

Have a fab day all.

morning ladies :) The recipe I use for bird pudding is one I made up. A pottle of dripping (when did dripping stop being wrapped in paper?), a few really big tablespoons of peanut butter and a good half cup or so of rolled oats. If I have any dried fruit I haven't used for ages I toss that in too. And I have some wild bird seed I mix in as well. I melt the fat and peanut butter then mix in everything else. I put it into muffin trays so I have little puddings and pop into the fridge or freezer to set. I keep in plastic bags in the freezer and take out what I want when I want.

Those are great prices for fruit and vege, popeye. I can't imagine going without my fruit, just love it.

All the squares are finished (yayyy!! lol) and now I'm hooking them all together. I should finish it tonight or tomorrow all going to plan.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, well my fussy little waxeyes are even turning their noses up at banana and they normally love it. I might have to make them a pudding.

Went to the Warehouse yesterday and bought some veg plants for the garden amongst other things, (spent over $100) and as I was putting the box with the seedlings in back into the trolley, I missed and the plants went in all directions, with a big splat. Groan. I had just paid for them. The checkout operator called for someone to clean up the mess and said for me to go back and get some more, so that was lucky. I would have really cursed if I'd done it at home. So once it's warmed up a bit, (it seems cold this morning) I shall dig the garden over, fertilize it and plant. Fingers crossed for some good results. The last lot of broccoli were a dismal failure. The heads rotted in the middle and they went all straggly, not nice firm round heads at all. Horrible looking things.

I didn't get to Bunnings because I couldn't find the prezzy card. I had it in my purse before I went away, and I know I didn't spend it, but I rather think I took it out of my purse and put it in a 'safe place' - either that or I've lost it. I phoned the company that provided it to see if they can cancel it and issue me another one (it's what I got for scanning my groceries) and they said they will check and let me know. If it's in a safe place, I have absolutely no idea where I've put it.

I did find my jewellers loupe just before I went away. That had been missing in action since before Christmas when I put it in the wrong place. I had put it in the left hand corner of the drawer instead of the right hand corner. What a twerp.

I will have to be up early tomorrow, craft market, and again Sunday, but hopefully nobody will be using the hall tomorrow night and we can leave everything set up.

Agree popeye, at those prices for fruit there shouldn't really be anyone going without.

Right, time to put the washing on.

Have a super day.
