Morning Everyone, Been a very long week in our household this week. Mr S is far from being well. Still has a chest cold, so on the second lot of tablets. Also, bladder infection. Tried yesterday to see if I could get him into respite care for a week to give me a break. Know if he can go back to one he was in last year on Monday. If not will have to do some phoning around.

Have just finished unpicking the last colour change on my baby blanket. 20 rows. Picked up the wrong size needles when I changed colour last night. Mr S mittens have been well used since I finished them. Now has warm hands and fingers.
Off shortly to attach the climbing rose and vine while we have this lovely sunny weather.

Popeye so glad to hear you are home again and they cleaned up the wound. Take Care and rest now. What are you knitting now at present?
Thanks for sharing the pictures of the birds that are visiting your garden at present. Great to watch them come into a garden to eat and clean the ground.Kiwimake. Did your wool arrive yet?
As for our traveller Kuaku, I hope she enjoying her self and catching up with family.
Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning everyone

Yes very pleased to be home again. And Im taking things very slowly. I forgot to take out one of my blood pressure pills this morning so Ill have to be very careful this morning.

Im still knitting the Choir girl , I have the book and feathers to knit, but the feathers look a little tricky for a foggy brain. I may do leaves and holly instead, its for her hat.

Going to ask a friend to help this week. The window frames are getting very mouldy, and the net curtains need a good wash too. I can get most of the curtains down, but not rehang them. And using the karcher makes the washing side easy and fast.

Just plugged the wound vacc in so Im stuck for an hour or so.. so ill have a looky around on FB

Have a fab day everyone

Afternoon all - beautiful day here - been to the park - was absolutely stunning out there
That's no good hearing Mr S hasn't recovered from his chesty cough - yesterday I arrived out at Mums just as the doctor arrived to check on her - she was outside filling the bird feeder - no walker - talking away to the birds - he just shook his head - only a week ago he didn't think she would last the night -
Popeye you take good care of yourself - wow you must be very pleased with the weight loss - looking forward to seeing a photo of your knitting - your Christmas toys were superb
Love knitting are being very tempting - everyday I am getting emails with great discounts but my cupboards are bulging so I know there is more than one lot of wool in there to start my blanket - you can use whatever ply and just cast on stitches to suit -
My windows are terrible all of a sudden - the window cleaning bloke is going to earn his money that's for sure

morning ladies :) No not yet sunflowers, soon I hope.

haha about the windows, so are ours. I need to blat round with the Karcher window thingy.

The waxeyes are still munching their way through the fruit and fat and drinking the sugar water. When our granddaughter visited last (6 weeks ago?) she couldn't reach the feeder, now she can and is quite chuffed she can feed the birds herself.

No knitting or stitching over the last few days, it's just too tricky with our grandy here. She has asked me to teach her to knit, but I think she is a tad small yet, maybe next year when she has better motor control skills.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

What about french knitting Kiwimade? or the other loom type things you can get these days.

It was lovely to be able to cook dinner myself last night. The ladies all had a course to attend to yesterday, so I got things prepped over the length of the day resting inbetween.

I cant beleive the difference in how I feel today compaired to last snday when I went back into hospital.
And I certainly dont want to undo any of the work thats been done.

Dodged a bullet this morning. My Fave district nurse rang to see how everything was, and since there is still room in the tank, she sees no sence of replacing and dressing today, only to do it again tomorrow. So that saves me one lot of pain.. Yay.

So I will knit later, didnt do any yesterday, we spent alot of time talking yesterday and it was lovely

Morning everybody - bit of drama this morning - my smoothie maker self combusted in a spectacular fashion so that makes three things this week - my hairdryer died on Monday - my Airfryer just refuses to switch on and so they say things happen in threes ! The Airfryer is just out if it's warranty so had a look online and farmers had them on sale and if you joined Farners club you got another $150 off so ended up paying just over $200 which was a fantastic saving -
I taught my grandkids to knit kiwimade but not until they were about 7 and my grandson is a natural - he got the idea that you needed to watch your tension
Good to hear you are feeling so good Popeye - take care
My friend arrives back from her trip to Paris - she went to an art school at a chateau - said it was like being back at boarding school - she is a very funny person so I am in for some laughs this afternoon
Enjoy your day everybody

Morning everyone

Looks like a nice day for the kids to go back to school, No wind here cos the NZ flag is hanging around the pole at the school across the road from us.

Had an extra bomb dropped on us while I was in between hospital stays. Our landlords are selling the property. But I think at the price they have on it, they might be pushing the proverbial up a hill. Unless an investor buys it, in which case we want to stay.. well hope to stay. Wasnt really what we needed amongst all the rest of it.

Off to the wound clinic today, also have to do my blood. But I have to turn the machine off so Ill be able to disconnect and nip in weight free of the machine.
Im not feeling 100% today, so I hope Im not heading backwards again.

Good Morning Everyone

Another great day here in Napier. Cleaned up the grapevine on Saturday, now need to wait to see if I have not killed it.LOL. Picked my first Iris yesterday and some early spring flowers. Need to get back out there and clean up around the Iris plants.
Knitting aside for a couple of days while I cut out a baby sleeping bag and stitch it. It's for a newborn tiny boy. Came early into the world at 3kgs on Wednesday. He has been taken and given to his Auntie a family of ours. He will be lovely and cared for.
Mr S is still not very well. He came outside while I was working on the vine at w/end. It was sunny and warm at the time.

Popeye good luck at the wound clinic today. Hope it's all good news.
What bad timing about the property going on the market. Just hope you can stay with new owners.
Don't forget there a Yarn Festive on at Tauranga starting Friday Kiwimade. Since you missed Cambridge.

Time for me to make a move and enjoy this great weather we are having at present.
Hope you have a great day.

Morning Everyone.
A chilly start to the day, but it will be beautiful too I think.

Yesterday could have turned out different, we went up for my wound clinic appointment, to be told by the boss that it had been changed. She just happened to go back to the office for something. but since we were there and the vacc had been off for 2 hours it had to be changed.

Honestly if you could see the change you would be as happy as we were with it.. Its all helathy looking and granulating, so growing good stuff. And she has discharged me from their care now.
So now its just the district nurses and my dr. Plus a finaly check up with the surgeon next month.

I feel soo much better now. was a big day tho, so today will be a quiet one. My pain is lessoning too which is great. She did say I may be able to go back to the lighter pack at some stage too.

So I plan on doing my pill trays and knitting today. Oh and putting alot of fruit we got yesterday into bowls , well I use colanders, so they arent in the plastic bags.

Hope everyone is well

Have a fab day

evening ladies :) It's been a busy few days with our granddaughter staying an extra night. Pretty full on then dad had friends visit and then the Bupa lady turned up unannounced as well. Wasn't impressed with her at all, we have told then FOUR times dad's new details and she tried to tell us she didn't have our phone number to make an appointment.

That's good news popeye, it's been a bit of a battle eh.

Happy knitting :)

My wool has arrived but now I'm busy with the cross stitch lol.. oh well... the knitting can wait for a bit.

morning ladies :) Looks like another busy day is lined up for me, I have a list of things to do in town, some plants to plant and yoga this evening. I stretched this morning and can now put one arm down my shoulder and back and reach up to touch my other hand as it comes up from the bottom of my back (if that makes sense). A year ago there was a good sized gap between my hands so I'm feeling quite chuffed.

Better get cracking, the fog is beginning to lift and I need to dry my hair before going out.

Happy knitting :)

Good Morning Very slow start to the day as it was very cold this morning. Sun out and everything warming up. Just hang a wool blanket out on the line. Going to cut it down to make a baby blanket for a very special tiny baby boy. Blanket stitch around it and will make a baby sleeping bag as well. So that my project over the next week. The baby was 3lb at birth and is 10 days old. Now, 3lb 5oz.
Have to pop out and post my wool swap, when I do a market shop today.a
I need to sort myself out and start going to the gym again. It's only a 4 min walk to the gym. Good to hear you are still enjoying your yoga class kiwimade.
Hope everyone has a great day and enjoys working on their projects. .

Afternoon everyone

Had to be up with the sparrows this morning to see the dr. She is very pleased with my progress. And we have deided to not do the depo and see what happens.
She said often the liver will send crazy signals for the hormones, and since Ive only had the bleeding when Ive had surgery she thinks my liver is crossing its wires lol.
Had my B12 tho so that will help boost me up a bit too. I have no doubt that if I hadnt have been on that and my iron and vit c Id be looking at shingles again.

Its cold today, that and the weightloss has me wearing 4 layers lol... Reminds me of my first winter on Warfarin .

I cant believe it but I have to buy a ball of wool lol.. The huge stash of yarn I have and I dont have brown for the boys hair lol.. A firned said why not do it in black, I said no he has two other brown/tans and the right chocolate brown will make the colours work, not black. So I will hopefully get one at one of the cheapy shops tomorrow.

Wow your gym work is really making a difference Kiwimade. Gosh I havent tried to see if my hands touch over the back for years..

Wow sunflowers a special wee boy.. Smallest babies Ive held were a pound each. Twin girls. My neighbours daughter had them. Sadly one had spinabifida (sp?).. I was only thinking of them last week. They would be 32ish now.

Got mrP a couple of small flounder at NW this morning.. I feel guilty buying them when Im sure they would be illegal, but its a long time since he has had some, and they are dead so better off eaten I suppose.

morning ladies, I hope everyone is well this morning.

I've seen what I thought was undersized flounder in the supermarket too popeye. I think we need to speak up about it. I checked the fisheries website and sand flounder have to be 23cm long.

Prem babies are just amazing aren't they. So tiny and just so perfect.

Housework for me today, the windows need a good once over where the Furry One has licked some condensation off one and left his nose prints.
And knitting or stitching this afternoon I hope.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Well yesterday was a day from hell for me.. Lets just say I need to remember to use my metamucil.. Its the worst Ive ever been.. Pain killers are hazzardous lol/

MrP totally loved the flounder for his tea. He likes them simply cooked in salted water.. years of fishing and cooking them in a pan on the gas cooker in the boat. straight out of the sea. I had planned on measuring them Kiwimade, but with the hellish day I had, I forgot. he did think one of them was close to legal. Wasnt too bad I thought 2 for $7.. And he managed to eat them without too much shaking. I think some of his shake was down to low blood pressure, cos hes not doing it as much.

Should be shopping today but there is very little we need so Ill leave it for now..
Although I will go out before noon tomorrow cos Gull have a discunt day, I havent checked the email as yet.
Noticed on Monday that our Gull is the cheapest between here and Papatoetoe of all the petrol stations at $2-16.9.

Morning all - bit chilly but going to be a beautiful day
My niece who had her baby at 32 weeks - went into labour on the way home to Palnerston after my Mums 100th - her baby will be 1 the day after Mum is 101 - she was about 3kg but is now a beautiful bonny we girl as my Mum calls her - in other words she has plump legs! She has breathing problems at times but apart from that has met all her milestones and is blimmin feisty that's for sure!
Flick that's just so not fair for your 15 year old to be not well - I agree about the mixed messages you get about ibuprofen - one specialist would say yes to my husband then somebody else would say no - but he was taking paracetamol by the box full - was probably worse
I have seen undersized flounder as well - am sure they must have a measure that stretches
Off out to the eye clinic this afternoon - need a cataract done - this is just the preliminary examination will probably have to wait ages to have it actually done
Have a good day everybody

Afternoon Everyone. Where did the morning go!. Had a couple of appointments this morning.
Cut out a baby blanket from a queen blanket which was for a vest for me. and going to button stitch around it. The sleeping bag is on hold till the w/end. See I have changed the weight from lbs to kilos.
Mid-wife visited yesterday and baby weight is now 4lbs. Still tiny. I know we should use kgs but that what I have been given.
Been very cold here, the sun is out so let's hope it warms up.
Sorry to hear about your girl not well flick.Hope they can give you some answers next week.
Good luck with your visit to the eye clinic this afternoon. Are you going to the clinic at G/ meadows or Hospital?
Time for me to move and get some jobs, before the plumber arrives. Yes, we had a blocked drain last night..The driveway is a mess.
What else is going to go wrong.....

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.
Happy crafting.

morning ladies :) hahaha re the lbs v kilos... funny how we still think of some things in imperial measurements. Mind you, quilting is still done that way more than likely because of it's American heritage.

Blimey flick, your girl has had it rough. There has to be someone who can tell her what is going on.

Gerry, you won't know yourself after your cataract is done. MrK had his done a while back and is amazed at how much he had missed seeing over time. Once he had his initial appointment at the hospital, he was in pretty quickly.

I hope the blocked drain wasn't too hard to sort out sunflowers, it's not only the mess, it's the cost!

The Furry One has a new collar, MrK took the old one off and he loved being 'free'. Took us ages for him to settle enough for his new collar to go on lol. The Fluffy One is coming to stay for two weeks while my sister goes on holiday next week. So there goes my good nights sleep. She sleeps at the top of my pillow and the Furry One at my feet. I get squashed in the middle. No spoilt dogs here! :P lol

Better sort some fruit out for the waxeyes, they are certainly munching their way through it. Don't mind as they give us a lot of pleasure. I can almost touch one now as he (or she!) refuses to fly away when I put new food out. I wouldn't try though.

Knitting, crochet or stitching this afternoon? Will decide then.

Happy knitting :)

Afternoon everyone

Ohh Flick I hope they can sort your daughter out. Shes missing some of the best times .
Mum was amazed when she had her cataract done. My friends father who was .. hmm Dramatic for getting attention had his done about a year after mum. I told my friend in front of her dad that It is painless, although the drops may smart. Cos I know he would have been playing the sympathy card to the max.
Im still to make the fatty seed dish for the birds, yesterday I felt groggy all day.
Today Ive done far to much up the street, but alot needed to be done.

I finally got myself a long mobile phone charger, my original is less than a metre long.. rediculous if your in hospital lol. So the new one is 2 meters long.
A break this afternoon to let the pain killers work.

Hi all. Back to knitting angel pockets for the hospital. Have a whole lot of blankets, booties etc I've knitted over the last year to drop off so hope to get the pockets finished over the next week and then deliver the lot.

mimi1 - 2018-07-27 19:06:00
13775

morning ladies :) aww mimi, you are a good soul!

I have exciting news! I have been invited to Dunedin to meet my birth family (not mother, aunt, uncle and cousins). My cousin and I are planning it as a surprise for her mum, probably in October. The last few months have been such an emotional time. MrK and dad have both been rocks with this. MrK was invited too but he thinks I should do this without him. He thinks I need the space. Next visit he will come with me.

So I've decided to drop my knitting and stitching projects for a while (this is so not like me, I usually finish as I start each one) and begin a hardanger piece for my aunt as a thank you for her unwavering support even though I never knew it was there for most of my life. She's the one who has been pushing to find me. Ok, time to stop typing, feeling a bit teary. Deep breath and carry on lol.

We're going to Tauranga today, I need some fabric and thread for this piece and I spotted some amazing thread at the sewing shop. It's varigated in the most beautiful jewel like colours... but then again I don't know the colours in her home so might be better doing it in ecru (sigh...).

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Welcome Home Mimi.. hope you had a lovely time with your friends.

How exicting Kiwimade, I remember when my friend found her birth mother, it was an extrememly emotional time.. I agree with MrK tho, the first time should be just you.. You know he backs you fully so his support is there with you.

I want to get a few things done today, firstly the Nasty Mummy flea treatment, which means the pong will be gone by bedtime or that will be right under my nose. lol
Hope to get my bed made and will try sleeping in it tonight, first time since May.
I Need to bake, it will help my head, so got stuff to do carrot cakes yesterday. Microwave ones which are extrememly yummy for a microwave cake And I have some apples to introdue to some pastry , spices and sultananas for MrP. That will happen tomorrow tho.

Got the brown for the boys hair yesterday so I hope to get back to the knitting later.

Have a fab day all

I have it as a picture (not very good one) on my phone - I'm just off out shortly to son's football game so will try and load it to here later today /tonight. they are easy - apart from I stuffed up the one I was knitting last night!

Good morning - just started blowing a gale - my washing is probably all tangled round the line
Kiwimade - that's fantastic you are meeting your birth family - you sort of know them already which is great -somebody close to me met his birth mother not knowing anything and it was and continues to be trouble -
My trip to the eye clinic was a rigmarole and a half - the DHB should invest in some iPads - I gave my details to 5 different operators of different machines and they all laboriously write it out - thank goodness I only take one lot of tablets -but I should get it done within 2 months so that's good
Mimi - it's great to hear you knitting for the wee babies - when my nieces tiny one was born unexpectedly it was wonderful to be given sone lovely knitted things
Popeye are you going to be able to resist eating your baking - says me sitting here eating yummy ginger cookies - they are the new Pams Finest can highly recommend them
Better get cracking Robie is coming today with his little truck to take all my rubbish away - in the last month my air fryer - hair dryer - magic bullet and one of my bedside lamps self combusted so the pile of dead appliances is just about as big as my recyclables that the recycling truck won't take - thank goodness I don't have to pay dump fees it goes in his work skip bin

Ohh Gerry I am intentionally making two carrot cakes. Its years since we actually had one to eat ourselves. Im thinking we have probably only eaten one since we have been up here. So its a rare treat.
Id like my friend to try it. She keeps saying she doesnt like carrot cake.. cos she doesnt like carrots.. But I dont like carrots either and you dont taste them in this cake.

Wow thats alot of appliances to crap out on you Gerry... We have put an air frier on our christmas list. I use our glass bowl air cooker alot but have always been a bit hit and miss when cooking frozen chips, so doing them in the basket would help. Along with everything else.. we figure they are bound to be on special at Christmas time.

Ive been pottering about this morning.. Finally made the seed pies for the birds. And I used my picker upper to pick up my pegs that blew over a while ago.
Have made the bed so Missy and I will try it tonight. I kinda feel like I never leave the lounge so I hope we have a good sleep down there.
Homecare lady caught me down there sitting having a frustration saddy, but she soon had me laughing.

Hey does anyone here knit balaclavas? I was wanting one to wear snowboarding. Have seen some rather interesting designs, some somewhat disturbing clowns to some that look like animal faces or people with beards and hair.
Eithe way i dont need anything that fancy but they make a great talking point with others on the chairlifts!

morning ladies :) Well the best laid plans and all that... didn't make it again to the Fibre Festival as MrK decided he would come with me to Tauranga. Not impressed but it is what it is. As a bonus though, we stopped at Sailsbury Wharf and spotted this guy :) He was so close to t he car park, just a small fence between us. We kept our distance of course, I used closeup on the camera to take the pic. So I have diaried the Festival in Hamilton for Spetember.

Morning everyone
will type the recipe up later for you Huntlygirl.

Well I finally slept in a real bed last night.. Feel like a Big Girl now lol.. Not a 100% good sleep but it will improve once I figure what works and doesnt.

Oh Kiwimade what a dissapointment re the fibre festival, yep Ban the men for the one in Hamilton.

I managed to do quite a few bits and pieces yesterday.. And knitted both legs last night so very pleased.

Nurse is coming today instead of tomorrow. Its just starting to smell and it will have me sick by tonight. Im already phlemy so I dont want to add nausea on top of it.

Hope to get the two carrot cakes made today, thankfully they only take 8 minutes to cook, so a very quick bake session.

Here we live close to the Potato Capital of NZ and the price of potatoes are rediculous, but the shop that I was getting the cheap butter from has 10 kilo agria bags for $10, so a friend is grabbing me one today, so Im planning potato bake for tea. Will add bacon to both and onion to MrP's. There was a long drought in getting the flavour sachet but they are back in the stores so I have a stockpile now lol. I peel the veges sitting down then run through the mandolin is seconds and wallah its done lol

Knitting later

Have a fab day everyone

Good morning ladies. Sorry to hear you didn't get to the Fibre Festival.kiwimade When I read your message all I could say was Bugger. Have a look on the Creative Fibre website, maybe a group handy for you. I know there one in Morrinsville & Cambridge. You join as an individual member. Good photo of the seal.
Cleanup my climbing roses after getting a new pair of gloves on Friday and did some other shopping at Mitre 10.
Was out in the yard yesterday cleaning up the mess after having our Apricot Tree Pruned last week. Fingers crossed we get some fruit this season. It's a very old tree.

Morning everyone
A beautiful day too.
Ive been and done my blood test, and got the sugars I needed to bake the cakes with lol.. I dont recall using the last of the brown sugar in the last cake, but must have done lol..

My pump has a problems so Ive made an appointment to have that checked at lunchtime.
Im feeling quite yucky today. I have very sensitive lungs and have alot of phlem. So wont make the carrot cakes till tomorrow.. Thankfully they are easy but Ive run out of up and go this morning already. Stuffed breathing soon wears you down doesnt it.

Im doing two christmas toys, they are on the front of one of Jean greenhowes knitted toy books. Have all of the girl knitted and just starting the head part of the boddy on the boy. The girl has 25 parts from memory, I havent counted the boys yet.
Am really enjoying knitting again. Ill get a pic to post in a minute.

Have a fab day everyone

Good morning - chilly and really windy so might just give the park a miss - Ash is laying in the sun snoring loudly
My brother isn't well - have thought over the last month or so he seemed a bit quiet - gets results of all his tests today so fingers crossed - we call him the Golden child - Mum had 5 girls and then thank goodness he came along as we could have been one of 15 - she was determined to have a boy as my Dad was an only child so carrying the name on was important - Mum absolutely dotes on him - but he is a really good brother so it's OK!
I weakened and put in an order for some lovely baby wool on love knitting - mixture of blends - beautiful colours - saved a pattern somewhere of a Princess Charlotte cardigan will make it for my niece who I never finished the dolly for - you put me to shame Popeye
Popeye has your weight loss altered your warfarin etc intake ?
Trying a new fresh ready rolled pastry that came into the supermarket today - thought I might make Mum some Eccles cakes she used to love them - the home have been told to cut back on the sweet stuff for the residents but we figure if Mum wants a cake she can have one - or I could make those little cakes that had pastry on the bottom jam then sponge on top - can't think of the name - that's my mission find my Edmonds book
Have a good day everybody

Morning everyone

A chilly start to the day, and grey but hopefully it wont rain again.

Had a crappy day yesterday. But today has started fine.

Going to finally make the carrot cakes so the house will smell devine.. Ill get MrP onto grating the carrots. Its such a yummy cake for very little effort. Takes longer to measure out the ingredients than it does to cook it lol.
Nurse will stop by with some supplies, ended up having to have the dressing changed yesterday it lost its suck. So today was due for a chnage but we only need to do the tank. It feels very heavy today.

Have a fab day everyone

evening all - been a really chilly dull old day here -no trip to the park for sure
Popeye this was the pastry - it sure is lovely pastry so very different from the frozen squares that I have been using lately - it is thick so I rolled it out a bit - it might be expensive I don't know how much it cost - I made the eccles cakes and the cheese cakes - yes thanks Popeye that's what they are - made them small so she can have two if she wants .The new dietician probably means well but I think at 101 Mum knows what she wants to eat - she has always had cream on her porridge was told she couldn't have that - so Robie had a wee fridge that a supplier gave him for on his desk that holds six cans so out that went to her room and she keeps her cream in there - she liked a little jug of extra gravy with her main meal if it had gravy on it - probably only an extra tablespoon of gravy but she is not allowed that - too much salt and fat! I know the dietician means well BUT!!!She just takes it all in her stride

My brother got some results - at least cancer has been ruled out so that's fantastic but there is something going on that's not good - he is like me carrying to much weight which is going to make things much more difficult if he has to have any surgery - we were looking at photos of the three of us and little wee Mum at her 100th and it is so obvious we don't have her genes
We had solar in Oz flick - worked extremely well - except when it snowed for weeks!
Better go and feed the dog otherwise he will be leaving home!

Thanks Gerry Ill keep my eyes open to see if we have it up here.

So Pleased cancer has been ruled out for your brother. I think Id be a mess if either of mine got it. Already lost enough siblings.

Im in total agreement re the food for your Mum. At 101 she should be allowed to eat what she wants. The little fridhe is a good idea.
And funnily enough before my last return to the Hospital I was considering looking into getting a mini fridge myself to take with me. Cos theres soo much served there that I dont eat. Im a plain eater. So it will be something I look further into getting. Cos it would be very handy. As they geenrally have a microwave somewhere. I could make little wee dinners , even if I could take 2-3, prefrozen. It would make things far better for me.

MIssy sat beside the fire before as if to say its Cold Mum.. So I turned it on and now she is sitting behind it lol.

Hope everyone is well..
