Morning everyone,
Yum grapefruit, if only I was allowed to eat it...

Didnt have a very flash day yesterday. This last change of the pump hurt the whole way through. Is meant to be changed today, so hopefully the tender spot will get a bit of releif.
Im charging my phone so I can take a video of how it sucks in. And photos on the camera for the diary.
Said to MrP last night I hope they dont end up having to reopen one piece, cos knowing my luck it will mess up like this has so far..

Slowly getting the knitting done.. On the skirt now so the bigges number of stitches, but not that many rows, and theres stripes so it tends to grow quicker for some reason.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, we have a lovely group of waxeyes who visit every year from May to September, anything up to 30 in number, sometimes only two or three. Puss eyes them up and occasionally gets one, which makes me both sad and mad, but she misses them more often than she gets them. Our old grey cat was trained not to go near birds, but it probably took us 10 years of constant growling at her to get her to ignore the birds.

Well I'm on the final countdown almost. Have half packed my suitcase, will finish it this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Have been trying to get a few knitting things finished. Finished a mobious cowl yesterday but I've made it too long. Will leave it till I get back and then decide whether to frog it and re-do it, or just leave it as is.

Beautiful day here, but cold again. I'm so hoping that the good weather holds for us in the UK. Knowing my luck by Thursday it will have turned back to the usual dull, cold summer I know so well over there.

Time to get busy and do a few chores.

Have a super day everyone.

Good Morning Ladies, Washing out. Not sure if it will get dry. Off to K & N this morning, knitting fingerless mittens for Mr S as his hands are like iceblocks at present.
This afternoon going to watch the second part of' LandGirls'. Based in England during WW2. A group of us get together every winter and pick out a series. Come together every couple of weeks for a couple of hours. We knit and drink Tea.

Not long to go now Kuaku and you will be making your way to England. Just hope the weather stays sunny and dry.
Hope everything goes ok for you today Poopeye when they change the dressings.
Have a great day everyone.

morning ladies :) omg huntlygirl, I am so jealous! I miss the moreporks, we had a pair when we lived in town but being rural now and no bush around us we don't get them or the tui :( So I treasure the tiny waxeyes. They have three spots around the property now, the feeding station, another shelf MrK built a few years ago on the fence for them and the compost bin. I leave the lid of the bin off so they can just help themselves to the grapefruit bits I have finished with.

Today once the frost has lifted I'll finish pruning the roses and then I'm hoping to dye some wool I was given the other day. I have enough to knit our grandson a jumper. I'm not happy with the throw I started, love the pattern, hate the colourway. So I've found some yarn/wool on Love Knitting but still to decide on the colour. Might ask MrK to pick as he's disappointed about the change.

Safe travels kuaka, not long to go now!

Happy knitting :)

Good Morning ladies. Kuaku Have a great trip and hope you enjoy your time with your family. As for the weather, you just have to roll with it. Just hope you don't get four seasons in one day.

Great photo! kiwimade. Good Luck with the dying of the wool. What colours are you hoping for? Yes, I think Mr Kiwimade would like to help choose another colour for the rug. Bugger you have to start again on it.

Time, I moved as I have to go for a blood test this morning and make some fellow up appointments for Mr S.
The sun is out so let hope it's warmer than yesterday.
Have a great day.

Morning everyone

Yesterday was a washout basically. I felt really run down.. Then noticed a bubble beside the wound, rang the district nurses they came in and said it was what they call a blister.
So had a friend take me down to the med centre when she finished work.. So Im on IV antibiotics, I have to go down each day.. Heaps better than sitting in hospital having them. The blister itself is bigger, but the redness has eased slightly this morning.

Have an awesome time on your trip Kuaka... Hope you have great weather, and lots of fun times with your sister.

We used to have Tuis in the cabbage trees in the councils garden out the front of us. I miss them.
I will Never forget when I was a kid, less that 13 anyway, One of my friends lived a couple of doors away from a large bush on the side of a hill in Thames. A wood pigeon used to come down to their fruit trees. It annoyed my friends Mum who bottled fruit etc.
But it was the first time I had ever seen one.. Absolutely stunning. And I think it was from then on that I learnt to appreciate the wildlife/bird life we have.
Some people never ntice birds etc now, they are just too busy or wrapped into their devices.. They dont know what they are missing.

No knitting yesterday, but do feel a bit more clear headed today.

Have a fab day everyone

I don't know if anyone has told you ladies, but marywea passed away in May.
I only found out as one of the agents here is listing her house. I hadn't seen her around for some time so have no idea what happened.

Well Yesterday turned to custard. Did my IV Antibiotics, mrP fell asleep in the nurses room. Came home and he fell in the driveway. So he is now in Hospital. I will see if I can find him about 9am.
Hopefully the district nurses will call me early for my dressing change. I have my last dose if Iv meds later too. So a busy time..

I did get the skirt finished before we went out yesterday so that was good. Didnt do any last night tho.

Flick I hope they can figure out what is ailing your daughter. It must be a worrying time.

I'm sorry to hear about marywea, thanks for letting us know creamhouse.

Well the dying was a disaster lol, followed the you tube tutorial instructions (had forgotten how to do it so looked it up again) and when it came to rinsing, the dye just washed out. Oh well, will have another go another day.

MrK is calling me to help him prune a tree so better get my a into g.

Happy knitting :)

Good afternoon all - thank goodness I am not friends with any of you on Facebook - my Facebook account got hacked and an advertisement was sent out to all my friends and their friends and their friends of these crutchless knickers I could heartily recommend - I even provided a very in your face explicit video of their advantages and it wasn't going to the toilet! I belong to several crochet groups one especially has a lot of elderly ladies in a Sophie blanket group - I could just imagine some of them opening their Facebook account and there it was! Facebook closed my account but I don't think I will ask to rejoin those crochet blogs anytime soon.My friend got hacked and she sent everybody an ad selling sunglasses that wouldn't have been so bad but my knickers just unbelievable!
Sorry to hear MrP has had a blip Pooeye - has he changed any drugs - the other day I was cleaning out a cupboard and found a big box of pills that my husband had been prescribed .I had a look online at what they were - they were some sort of anti depressants but the warnings were mind blowing - anybody taking them needed to be on suicide watch - as well they caused breatthing difficulties and a long list of other frightening side effects - couldn't help thinking who ever prescribed them maybe should have warned me if the side effects - I know it doesn't matter now but it did give me pause for thought
Popped along to see my neighbour - thank you Sunflower for your help - she is like a new lady -
My cousin is on a trip to Paris - it's an art trip - they stay in a castle and get taken all round Paris to paint - she keeps sending me photos of the yummy food - told her not to moan to me when her clothes don't fit!
Kiwimade your dying disaster brought back a funny memory about the hoops I used to put Mr G through - I was off to a Jill Mass cloth doll making class and had spent days dying this mohair in tea bags for the dolls hair - left it out drying on the BBQ table and the wind got up and blew it up into our neighbours plum tree - looked everywhere - my husband saw it and bet he then wished he hadn't as he had to climb that tree and retrieve that hair ! All the neighbours were out watching the retrieval they just couldn't understand when you are crafting and you get an idea that's it !
Hope Kuaka has a wonderful time with her family - my son from Dunedin has just let me know he won't be home for a visit in August his company is sending round the world in 17 days - one of his stops is New Orleans would have loved to have gone there when I was young - his father would be so proud of him
Have had a bad dose of gout entirely self inflicted - Robie brought me some of those new Lindt chocolate covered blueberries - don't buy them I ate the whole packet and chocolate is only to be had in very small bits!
Hope they can sort your daughter out flick - it's so hard when teenagers have to spend their days getting tested and pushed and prodded
Isn't it amazing finding those boys in a cave - I watched that doco on Sunday about the school kids at OPC - had forgotten how truly awful that was
Better get cracking and keep looking for what I actually was looking for when I found the pills and went off on a tangent

Well I finally found him and got to talk to him tonight.

hes ok, short of breath. He had xrays but reckons he hasnt been told if he broke any ribs. I told him No news is good news.

So now they are playing with his meds again. He said they might send him home tomorrow, Ill find out in the morning, I would prefer it if we wa a bit stronger before he came home

My blister is a deep hole, so its getting worse rather than better. but the heat and redness has eased so thats a good thing. Have to go back tomorrow for a final check. Ive finished the IV Ab's.

Dont know where my head was today, I chose to take my handbag, which is a backpack.. Stupid idea, by the time I have the wound vacc over my head, the backpack on and the keys around my neck lol.

IM going to have a play on here and a slightly earlier night.

A chilly start, so much so that I think the Thermometer may have finally given up the Ghost Its not 21.7 inside or outside lol

Will ring MrP shortly, its his Birthday today.. I know how he will be feeling. Im just hoping they will be keeping him there. So he can get stronger and I can rest up too.

Havent had the Turbo or discovery channel on in the last 36 hours lol... Have had the food channel on, Quite enjoyable for a change. I woudlnt bother having sky if it was just me. Its just background noise for me most of the time.

No knitting last night. but I dont mind.. Concetrating and being well, even tho half my wound is still open 2 months later.

morning ladies :) omg gerry64, I'm sorry but I did have a chuckle at your FB woes. Yes, hackers can be a pain and sometimes I wonder if it's worth it but I use my account to stay in touch with family overseas so for me, yes, it is. That's good news about your friend being a 'new woman', shes the one with the bladder issues? Don't we have some lovely people online here.

My birth family have been in touch more and more and I'm learning so much about my heritage now. The similarities are amazing, even to the point of mind blowing. Our granddaughter and my niece could be twins, our son is the spitting image of an uncle and our daughter's art comes not just from MrK's mum but from my grandmother as well. There are several family members who are lefties like me and blondes and redheads run in the family. So exciting to find all this out. Even the small stuff like being left handed makes such a difference.

It's going to be a stunning day today so I'm going to make the most of it outside. Knitting this evening all going to plan.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
I have MrP home again, he was very tired. They have played around with his pills again. His BP is too low, but best of all is they have taken the pills they started on him last month off his list again. He slept like a log last night so that is good. And he looks much brighter and alert.

I am sore but not as bad as I thought I might be.

Plans today are to sit and knit lol.. The nurse will be here at some stage.

Good Morning Everyone.
Enjoy your visit to the fibre fest flick. I'm waiting for Knit August Night weekend at the end of August. Have traders from all over NZ

So pleased to hear you have Mr B home and has had a good night. I don't know anyone who has a good night sleeps in the hospital. Took Mr S a week to catch up on sleep after his last time in the hospital.

At present we both have colds that moved onto the chest. So not a lot getting done at present. Did some knitting last night.
Today is overcast so may go out and tidy the Roses and Grape Vine. Still, have 2 boxes of spring bulbs to plant. O'why did I dig them all out...I know the garden needed a good dig and a fed.
Yes! I am feeling down and not very cheerful. So I need to pick myself up and dust myself down and get A into gear.

Add some knitting somewhere in your day .. I am, are you??

morning ladies :) I'm up early as I just want to start the day with some quiet. Dad chats constantly, it's like he has to fill in the quiet times with noise, and it's driving me batty.

Good to hear mrP is home but not good about the colds sunflowers. The roses and grapevine will thank you for the pruning and being outside will lift your spirits so I hope you managed to get outside. I'm picking a few rose thorns out of my fingers even though I wore gloves.

I'll put an order in with Love Knitting and find something to knit in between times. I'll leave the squares I've knitted for the throw and when I make the last blanket for the second spare bed I'll knit random squares the same size. Saves a lot of unpicking and gives me a head start.

Sounds like MrK is rattling around. Happy knitting :)

Good Morning Ladies. The sun is out just! This cold has hit both of us and so over it. Spend most of yesterday knitting and crafting in front of the fire and watching DVDs.
Reknitted one of the fingerless mittens as I use the wrong yarn. Same colours just a shadow out and you could tell.

I know the feeling of wanting some quiet time. kiwimade When my mother visited us it was hard going sometimes with her chatting. She spend the last 20 plus years on her own after father passed on. My two brothers and families lived nearby were good. Saying that I would get the call can she come to us for a break.

Popeye, how are things going in the household? Hope you are both keeping each other company. Good to hear you are still enjoying knitting as well. Yes, it is a slow road, just think of your new clothes and self. Noone will know you when you go uptown.

Rain now stopped, the sun out so I will hang out the washing
Today I am going to see how little I can get away with, as I am still not well.

Have a great day everyone. Do something that will put a smile on your face.

Knitting maybe this afternoon, will see how I go.

Hi everyone.. Im home.

The district nurse that came on Saturday wanted me back to hospital. So I spent a pathetic 24 hours with MrP.
The three holes are now linked together..

More cutting away and not alot else.. It was lovely to be remembered, but I was well and truely ready to come home today.
Painwise its set me back 3 weeks.

And of course they were shipping everyone out cos of the Strikes tomorrow.

Tired and sore.. Thankfully MrP has improved since he came home. And should improve now we have taken the pills out that the hospitals drs wanted.

I did the grand sum of 6 rows on 15 stitches lol.. I was going to knit when I got to the departure lounge this morning, but the vacc opened when I went to sit in a chair, so I had to go back to the ward for them to fix it up.

Very tired tonight and sore.. but Ill get a few things done on here and then sleep in my chair.

Hope the Sunflowers are improving cold wise... Hope Kuaka is having the time of her life..
And Kiwimade I know what you mean re the talking.. I used to take "longer" to get things done up the road.. on purposley.

I'll pop into Spotlight and see what is on offer there and do groceries too. Knittng maybe later today. No Yoga as it's school holidays.

Thanks for your kind words Popeye. Off to the doctor after lunch, as the cold hit my chest big time. I am so over it!!.
Hope you are feeling better and that wound starts to heal now with Vac.

Try and finish Mr S fingerless mittens today.
Very white this morning everywhere since at 8 am. Sun is out and it's starting to warm up.

Enjoy your visit to Hamilton Kiwimade today. Hope you get your visit to Spotlight as well. Feed the males and take off for some Girl time.
Enjoy your day !
Cheers.

Morning everyone

Its neat that MrK and your son get to spend bloke time... And the bonus of Mums mac cheese makes it even better I bet lol.

Yep its been a testing time. I have to make sure I dont slide any further into a depression. Which At least I can recognise so thats a good thing.. Staying positive when it feels like your body is trying to P you off isnt easy some days.

Having a very quiet day today. I hope to knit later.

Was sooo pleased to learn that Little House on the Prarie is back on tv, on the Jones Channel.. Ive eebn sayong for ages since they started playing the Waltons that Id love to see Litlle House on the prairie.. Watching as an Adult means Im seeing things that I never noticed when I was a kid...

morning ladies :) Yeah, it is neat popeye that MrK and son are close. Both kids are really. By the time I had bought the groceries and been to Spotlight the new handlebars were on the motorbike and they were putting a grip back on. Son is one happy chappy and MrK said he enjoyed the whole experience of learning something new as well as working with son. So win win for them both. Son saved $250 by doing it himself (with MrK) too.

I have a rose to pick up (dig out first lol) from a lady's garden today, she's downsizing and has a bunch of rose plants she wants gone. Then lunch with a friend to celebrate her birthday. And while in town I'll drop MrK's chainsaw off for a service. We have some bigger trees to prune - some from the ground up.

Knitting later today I think if all goes to plan. Hope everyone who is ill is on the mend.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
So pleased you had a good day and a savings day Kiwimade.

I got 6 little pieces done on the Choir Girl yesterday. But I started the cape last night. Ended up with an extra stitch. And there was no way I could figure out where to "lose" it. So Ive undone it and will start again later. And extra decrease woould have stuck out like a sore thumb.

Hope everyone is mending... I have to pop up and get a few things, and get a script. Then I am going to work on the knitting. I would like to try and sort out the Craft room, but that will be a little at a time.

Well yesterday turned to custard. Has a dizzy spell in the chemist, then only just got through the groceries and I sprung a leak. And everyone that knows me thught I looked very sick. Including one of the checkout ladies who came to the car with me and put the groceries in the back.

A dist Nurse came and patched me up, it was over the edge where I cant see. Checked my BP which was normal thankfully. Due to be changed today thank goodness cos Ive sprung a leak again.

Had some gingernuts for tea and that really settled my tummy. So glad I got some, I dont often buy biscuiits.

Plans for today is folding as much of a mountain of washing that I can. And hopefully find MrPs keys.. He normally keeps them in one place, so he has been complaining cos he doesnt know where they are

Maybe Ill knit later, hopefully.

Enjoy the Baby shower Flick.

Have a fab day

morning ladies :) hmmmm popeye, that doesn't sound good at all.

Good timing flick! Hope you had fun at the shower.

I've been busy in the garden, I bought a rose off a lady who lives down the road and have to find a spot to plant it. I ended up weeding (as I do lol). The rose is huge and took two of us half an hour to dig it out. So it's been sitting in the wheelbarrow with some water to recover a bit from being dug out and pruned heavily.

While I'm waiting for my yarn to arrive from Love Knitting I've started joining the blanket squares together for one of the spare beds. I've just been picking away at these squares in between projects over the last couple of years and didn't realise how many I had! It's going to be a combination of both knitting and crochet and should be very warm.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

What colour is the rose Kiwimade? Our needs pruning, but it simply has to wait.

Pity we cant fast forward over the tough stuff eh.

Didnt get any knitting done yesterday. Pain was simply too bad.

Have a friend popping in this morning and she is going to get me the couple of things I forgot on Thursday at the supermarket.

The nurse told me yesterday to get used to asking for help cos its going to be a while. She wasnt happy to see no progress from my last hospital visit and has measured everything to see what progress there is between now and my surgeons visit. If nothing is being done she will go higher... She said no one should have to put up with the lack of attention, and its not good for me physically or mentally.
Shes right too I cannot stand to even look at it now, frustrated by the bag, by not being able to do any normal stuff.

morning ladies :) Welcome mimi :) I'd love to see pics of your knitting too. I crochet and knit and sew lol, I guess it was my 'era' for these things. But in saying that, a lot of young people are learning now too.

When in Spotlight the other day there were a couple of teenage girls wanting to buy knitting needles and wool to knit a scarf. They kept saying 'I feel old, I feel old'. Was more a showing off thing though as teenage girls do.

It's a good day for crafting, a full on blustery storm is outside.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
We have puddles where we have never had them before. So it must have dropped alot over night.
Im hoping to knit today, really making sure I rest.

Had a day of troubles with the wound vac yesterday. Turned out to be a faulty tank.
But it took a call to the district nurses who werent on duty, one to healthline, she didnt know how to work them, Rang the hospital and they put me through to the healthline again. in the end I asked to be put up to ward 8 where I was this week. We checked everything and decided it was the tank, and sure enough it was.
The tanks are quite hard to put on and off and my hands arent as bad as people with worse arthiritis, I dont know how they would do it. Anyway its working again and I only have one tank spare for now.

Lol at the teenagers Kiwimade, yep thats a teenager, but they want to do it enough to buy it anyway lol...

MrP is laying in bed sleeping with the rain, hes always loved doing that. So Missy and I have peace and quiet without the tv on.

Good morning from a very warm France! 31 degrees yesterday, 26 at 11pm yesterdat.

Welcome mimi - I'm one of the "regulars" but I'm away at the moment and have been a bit bust enjoying myself. I knit, crovhet and to a lesser extent sew. Been knitting 65 years and crocheting a little longer so yes, I'm old! Love your socks.

I knitted two pairs of fingerless gloves waiting at Auckland airport and on tbe way over and have started a mile a minute baby blanket for the market.

Yesterday was Bastille Day and we attended an outdoor lunch hosted by the local mayor and attended by 40 or so people. Course after course and a different wine with each course. We started at 1pm and finished at 5pm. I ate too much. Watched an awesome fireworks display in tbe evening

Really enjoying it here. I could get used to it here, could live here but don't think I'd be allowed to. We go back to England on Tuesday.

I heard the weather in Auckland was awful. The hot weather continues here. I'm not complaining but wish I was staying longer.

morning ladies :) Great to hear from you kuaka, sounds like you are having a fab time! Yep, raining here... rain, rain.... and more rain. There's serious flooding around the country but on the bright side it's not that cold.

Love your socks mimi, they look lovely and warm.

I can't win lol, run out of wool for the bed blanket trim so will have to find something else to do in the meantime. Hopefully my wool order won't be too far away.

Happy knitting :)

Good Morning Ladies(Just). Good hear you are enjoying the holiday. We went across one year when we were living in England for Bastille Day. It's was one of many mini breaks we had. See the weather is starting sunny for you.

What a weekend did some sewing on my old singer machine which is older than me. The Bernina machine is having it 2 yearly check and clean. Both have been used by my mother with love and care. Enjoyed been in front of the machine. Just needed to do some mending etc. Did a couple of rows on my blanket last night. Did anyone watch Sunday night film on one?
Mr S is having Physio appointments this week so we will see how it goes. Going to our guy in Napier. So how it goes.
It's warm and sunny so washing will get dry after a very wet and windy afternoon and evening yesterday. Off out for a walk this afternoon, once I do some gardening first.
Kiwimade hope your wool is not too far away. Something to look forward to.
Popeye, how is it going with you and Mr P. Hope you have a great day.
Cheers Everyone.

morning ladies :) No sorry sunflowers, didn't see Sunday evening's film. Country Calendar and then something on Prime from memory. We stayed on Prime so Dad could watch the Crusaders play (poor man's TV lol).

It's a very foggy morning here but I'll go out and feed the birds shortly. We have quite a flock now. They love pears but MrK ate the last one so they will have to settle for grapefruit today. When I put their food out they don't fly very far and I can get quite close before they move off the feeding station.

While I'm waiting for the wool to arrive I've started a cross stitch I was given. A friend found it at the local op shop, brand new, not even opened for $3. The linen it's stitched on is 32 count (ouch, my eyes lol) but it should look lovely when done. It's of pussy willow and in browns, white and soft pink.

I forgot to answer your question yesterday popeye, the rose I planted the other day is 'Loving Memory' and red. An oldie but a goodie.

Happy knitting :)

Good afternoon everybody - have had an eventful week - my Mum has just dodged another bullet- I went out there last Thursday she was moaning her head off as she had gone down to have a game of scrabble in the lounge early afternoon and every one else was asleep- the next morning about 9 we all got called in she had developed pneumonia overnight and they thought she wouldn't pull through -she looked dreadful - and we were prepared - she is 101 on the 9th next month - she started to improve so on the third night made us all go and promised she would ring the bell in the night - she never has before as she thinks the night staff are asleep - anyway she woke up at 4am drenched in sweat-thought about getting up and getting a nightie and singlet out of the drawer -thought better off it and rang the bell - only to be greeted by a staffmember asking if she hadn't looked at the clock before ringing the bell! My Mum told her what she needed -the woman got the nightie out the drawer -threw it at Mum and left so out she gets and gets her singlet and changes herself and puts the wet clothes on a chair. When the staff came into her the next morning they had a gripe about the night staff leaving her wet clothes so Mum told them what happened and then of course us. Can tell you my brother left management in no doubt how we felt - and I must say the manager was gob smacked as all the staff have in the past tried to get Mum to ring the bell but she gets herself out of bed normally - Anyway on the 5th day the Doctor declared another miracle had occurred her lungs are as clear as a bell ! I honestly think her body should be gifted to science there is something in her genes that needs cloning!
While I was sitting there with her I was so annoyed with myself not having a non thinking project to keep my hands busy - sorry kiwimade what was the name of that yarn again - I found a place in NZ that supplies it and there was a beautiful lavender colour in the range - this picture doesn't actually do the pattern justice - but it is really simple - each block is as many stitches as you want - its just a simple change in the stitch that makes it something different

Hope kuaka got out of Paris before the after world cup mayhem began
You take care of yourself Popeye and speak up everytime your wound concerns you
My Mum feeds the birds everyday and boy they let us know when she was sick that they needed feeding - we lived amongst the bush in Taupo had wood pigeon and even a native hawk for a while. One of our old houses is on trade me at the moment for sale - shed a wee tear or two seiing all the bits and pieces my old boy did to it still looking good

Love the socks Mimi - I only ever completed one pair -started others bu they are somewhere in that big pile of lets forget about that - seeing your post about the knitted doll flick reminded me I still have one somewhere to finish - I was making it for a gift for a new born little girl who is now 1 actually it is more age appropriate now
We have had beautiful days but it cools down quickly so better go and close some drapes and windows

morning ladies :) I love that pattern Gerry, something different! My goodness your mum is a battler isn't she!

MrK and dad had a row last night, a real doozy. Sent them both to their respective corners. So today will be a tad tense. Our granddaughter arrives this afternoon so they better get their act together before then.

Garden still needs weeding and lawns mowed so will try and do that this morning. It will get me outside and away from the pair of them for a while.

Happy knitting :)
