I reckon you can never have too much wool either

Hello everyone. I have never used round needles but I found lots of patterns that were just lovely but they used round needles. Are they hard to use? Thank you for all your advice and I am going to look at the Skeins website.

morning ladies :) No rosynana, they aren't hard to use, just 'different'. There are lots of good tutorials on You Tube which will teach you how to use them - you can stop and start the tutorial as you knit. The secret I think is keeping your tension.

I finished dad's knee rug so have snaffled my mohair rug back lol. I'll take a pic later and post it. So now I'll start on the t hrow for the couch which will hopefully hide the scratches on the leather from the Furry One. A new couch isn't in the budget yet so I'm hoping this will tide us over for a bit.

My DNA results arrived this morning from the kit MrK bought me for my birthday. It seems I am mostly Irish/Scottish/Welsh with a smattering of Eastern European. MrK always said I was his Irish Colleen lol. Now what to do with the information as I'm adopted and it is still a very sensitive issue for my birth family. Silly in this day and age but there it is.

Happy knittng :)

Morning everyone.

Wow and exciting time re your heritage Kiwimade. It is a bit silly when people feel kind of threatened when their children (Adults at that ) try and learn of their start in life. You are still their child and knowing about your start shouldnt change that.
I had a friend who found her birth mum, and very naughtily played one against the other when it came to her 21st birthday. Saying if her birth mother couldnt come she wouldnt have the party. Another friend and I took flowers for her Adopted Mum. She was the one that died earlier this year. But they settled everything in the end.

I have crochet a bag for my wound vacc pack. And did three long strands of chain which I have plaitted for the handle. I have to attatch that then its all done.
Nurse has been and changed my dressings.

Looks like a beautiful day out there.

Have a good one everyone

morning ladies :)

I started knitting the squares for the new throw and it's a challenging pattern. Am loving it though. MrK picked the pattern out as I couldn't decide.

It's chilly here this morning but the lawns need mowing again so I'll do that at some stage today.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
It didnt get too cold last night. Snd not bad this morning, but I havent been outside as yet.
Had a bit of a downer day yesterday, Im over my wound etc. But Im happier in the head this morning soo far. It think its just the fact that I cant do things at my normal pace etc and getting frustrated. I even said to MrP that it felt worse than my heart surgery.
I have to scoot up to the superrmarket later but that will be about all I do.

I have sort of finished my bag.. I made the strap and plaited it and thats attatched. And I did the button loop but I wont put that on till I know the right place for it. So I dont know where they tubing will be. Its on Fleuro Orange, so it cant be missed lol.
Your blanket sounds interesting Kiwimade. Nice that MrK helped you choose the design. I like to be challenged too at times. Cos we are stubborn taureans and dont like to be stumped or beaten by anything lol.

I didnt go up to the Twins photo shoot yesterday. But apparently there were 50 sets of twins.. Alot that couldnt go too. so it will be on 7sharp Monday night. The college was on last week with 16 sets.

Have a fab day everyone. Overcast here. So I hope to be out and back before it rains

Good Morning Ladies. This morning everywhere was white, roofs included. yes, our first hard frost for the winter. Got up around 7 and raked up the fire and have had it roaring away every since.
Started a pair of fingerless mittens for Mr S last night. His hands are getting so cold. So no working on the blanket. Have cards and tags a to make later today. Spend time out in the gardens yesterday and just may do a trip out for some plants. will start some seeds as well.

Yes, you will have high and low days, but will slowly get more high days as the pain gets less. Popeye did I give you this site which you may like. Attic24 I think you would like it. She on Facebook as well as a website. www.attic24.com.
Look forward to seeing what pattern MrK picked out for your rug.
Sun is now showing itself so hopefully, the day will warm up.
Have a great day and stay warm.

Have a good day everyone

morning ladies :) Yep, you will have up and down days popeye and it's good that you realise that. I have never knitted gloves sunflowers, it's on my 'to-do' list but if it is anything like socks I can see I would only knit one lol. I have a book of glove patterns and have been wanting to use it for some time.

Here's a pic of dad's rug over the back of his chair. The photo doesn't do the colour justice, it's teal with dark to light shading. The yarn I used is called La Paz and is very soft.
https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/809694159.jpg

The pattern I'm knitting for the couch throw is made of twelve squares and cabled so this should be interesting. I told MrK he picked a 'complex' pattern lol but am enjoying it now I have it figured out. It's in a rusty orange/brown/cream colourway which suits our living room.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, your Dad's knee rug looks lovely and soft and cosy. I'm sure he will love it.

Home safely from my visit to my son's. I worked harder in the 3 days that I was there than I have at home in the last month. We put up numerous curtain tracks, I cleaned windows and window frames, and hung curtains in the spare bedroom, lounge and dining room (some ranchslider size and French door size!). By the time I'd finished I was knackered, up and down the step ladder till I ached everywhere. Also washed all his kitchen cupboard doors and cleaned fly dirt off the ceilings.

He did an oil and filter change on my car. I checked the oil before I went and it looked very dirty, whereas previous times I've checked it and it has always looks nice and clean. I asked him to have a look and see what he thought. What he thought was that it needed doing and he asked when I last had it done - errrr, never been done - had the car 4 years I think! He found a dead rat snuggled up beside the cylinder head. I managed to knit one pair of fingerless gloves while I was away, that was all.

Just sent out a message to my neighbours about having a mid-winter Christmas do. We had one last year at my place and it was good, but nothing has been arranged as yet.

Waiting for the chimney sweep to arrive. They said between 8.30 and 9 but not here yet. I wanted to have my shower before he arrived, but can't have it now as he's bound to come while I'm in the shower.

Have a super day everyone.

Ohh Kiwimade I love the throw. It is nice a big and chunky looking. Love the sounds of the colours of the new one too.

Wow Kuaka just as well your son checked your car. Should probably run cheaper now too maybe.

Well the real estate lady came and did a valueaton check and we ended up talking for ages. Then homecare arrived just as she was going to her car, then the Nurse arrived just as homecare was going to her car, so its been a revolving door today.
The last bit of dead skin is lifting. And it turns out I have an appointment tomorrow for that. So then the district nurse will come on Thursday and put the vacc on. She liked my little bag I made and said they might have to get me to make some more.. So I might just make a few anyway. Cos I will be seeing them for a while yet.

I am Happy now.

13611

morning ladies :) haha kuaka, that rat found a lovely warm place to snuggle - or so he thought! I saw on the news about the cat that was stuck in the grill of a car and travelled for miles before he was found.

It's a busy day here for me today. I'm off to Tauranga to pick up my good sewing scissors I had sharpened. I've really missed them too. And while there I'll get groceries at Pak n Save and call into my favourite sewing shop for a good nosey round. Will be nice to go to places I want to without having MrK looking over my shoulder.

The traffic is building up here for Field Days. We've noticed a lot of company vehicles going by so we're assuming they are setting up their sites. We're going Thursday and really looking forward to it.

A blood relative contacted me through the DNA site last night. I wasn't going to make first contact until I had my head around things but I guess she couldn't wait lol. Anyhoo, seems she is my cousin. I just burst into tears. Poor MrK and dad had no idea what to do lol. men eh lol.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Wow Kiwimade I hope the weather improves for the Fieldays.

Ohh How exciting re your cousin making contact.. Might need a book to keep notes. Lol at the Males, seldom they know the difference between happy and sad tears .

I am feeling very good today. minimal pain. trying to decide if I should get my big pain meds or not. I dont want to rely or get hooked on them like my twin did. But Im worried if I have another bad patch that i wont cope. Will talk it over with the dr. Maybe get a script but leave it unfilled.

I realised lst night my head hasnt been in the right place for a while. i did my typical buying crap food, lollies from here and reducded to clear and crap from NW. I need to take note and stop myself.

I did the main piece for another vacc Pack bag last night. 16 sts by 30 rows. Ill do the handle later. im going to make them until I no longer need the nurses. Easy while watching tv too.

Its wet and windy today so MrP has decided to stay home. I dont blame him. And the courier might arrive anyway.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning everyone
We have some blue sky, but still grey too. And its not cold.

MrP ended up ciming with me yesterday, which Im pleased. he dozed off while the Dr was cutting away the dead skin etc and I was able to talk to her about his pills. We think its a new pill the drs changed a couple of weeks ago, so we have moved it to night time, to see it if makes a difference.
Dr is Very pleased with my wound. got heaps off it and the blood is already getting higher so the wound Vacc can go on tomorrow and she will check it again on Tuesday.
The bonus I have lost the 1.5 kilos I put back on and another 200 grams less than I was when I left hospital.

I wore my fave wool skirt , which I havent worn since 2011... Its 18 years old and I love it as much as the day I got it, in Wellington. Topped with a red flowing top and the Red sparkly cardy with the frill I knitted a few years ago.
Im tender this morning. But nothing major,. And I didnt get the oxynorm. I decided I didnt need it.
I need to sort MrP's meds oout today, to take them back to the chemist to get them blister packed. They have some broken to different times of the day and we need to get it put back to how he was taking them.

Crochet later I hope.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) A wet day here, typical for the first day of the Field Days.

I thought I had finished the first square to the throw lol but nope. Had a good look at it and there is a big glaring mistake right slap bang in the middle. Typical of me lol. Oh well, onwards and upwards. Will unpick and redo as if I leave it I will always be looking at it.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, another beautiful day here, sunny but I suspect not that warm (it's not warm at my house as I don't get the sun but the heat pump sorts that along with the woodfire when it's really cold).

Oh how annoying kiwimade, but I know what you mean. You would have to frog it or you will forever wish you had.

I'm trying to decide whether to frog a shawl-type thing I started last year. I like it but I think I should have done it on bigger needles, it feels too thick and stiff for lovely soft 8 ply. Decisions. I'll think about it some more.

Knit and natter this morning, have to find something easy to do. Might cast on that mobius cowl that I didn't get around to doing a few weeks ago. Once it's cast on, it's five rounds of knit, five rounds of purl. I should be able to manage that without stuffing up - surely!

Right, breakfast time.

Have a super day everyone.

Good Morning Ladies. What a day we had yesterday weather wise. Strong winds and rain overnight with roads closed and power cuts. Cleared at on stage so we out for coffee just before lunch around to Ahuriri just pasted the wharf. Enjoyed watching the water breaking over the rocks. See in today paper two empty containers where wash off the wharf. On was washed up at Westshore about 3kms away. The other one is still missing.
Open the curtains this morning to a bright rainbow across the sky.

Spend most of the day cleaning up my weaving loom. It's a couple of years since I have done any weaving. Fingers crossed I will start weaving again.
Mr S is going to his own Physio two or three days a week. The hospital was only coming to see him once every couple of weeks. Hopefully, we did the right thing.

Good hear you are feeling more cheerful Popeye. As the saying goes One day at a time. How the colouring in and drawing going?

Hope everyone is warm and dry. Good weather for crafting

morning ladies :) I heard the Napier-Taupo rd was closed sunflowers. I love how t hey close it too, just shut the big gates! I know Ahurir as we stayed there a couple of years ago. Just loved it. I think if we lived in Napier, it would be around there.

We're off to the Field Days and it's a gorgeous day. Just waiting for MrK to finish his breakfast. It takes him a while to get sorted in the morning which can be frustrating for both of us at times. Never mind, the traffic will have eased off a bit by the time we leave. The plan is to drive to Cambridge and catch one of the free buses to take us out to Mystery Creek. My friend in the States has asked me to take lots of photos for his little great-nice who loves anything to do with cows. I'll e mail them to him lol.

happy knitting :)

Good Morning, Blue sky this morning after another wet night. Finally got all our Summer Clothes put away. Mr S has the OT and Physio visiting for the final time today. His local Physio is going to take Mr S as his patient. Let's hope we see more of an improvement.
Will need to work out what I want to weave and sort some yarn out. It's a table loom so can weave in the lounge and keep Mr S company.
Finished three face cloths for a sells table in a couple of months time. So will get on with this blanket or winter be over before I finish it.

Hope you and Mr K enjoy your day out at The Field Day.
Popeye all the best today with the Vac. Will be good to have it up and working. You doing well.

Time to move as I have finished my cuppa and washing will not hang itself.
Have A Happy Day

Morning everyone,

Ive been up and done the groceries, and they are put away and the car back in the shed..
I am a bit sore this morning, so Im going to cross my meds over a little earlier.
Have fun at the Field days Kiwimade. Hope you have gummys for the mud walking. If you happen to see any wood cutting I hope you have your camera out. I love wood cutting lol.

Sunflowers I hope all goes well for MrS... Oneday Id love to have a go at weaving. Mind you theres other things I want to go too.
Like Potting clay, and Flax weaving for a start.

All set now for when ever the nurse arrives. Lunch is decided. MrP is going to have some asparagus that I froze in October. And I have a crossant to throw in the air cooker. Yumm with real butter.

Its fining up, up here but the wind is still present. not terribly cold tho.

Have a fab day everyone

13621

morning ladies :) We had a fine day so didn't need gummies to see what we saw popeye, the roads at the Field Days are all shingled and the sites have tons of wood chips now.

But we had an entertaining trip there, two and a half hours instead of the usual 40 minutes. Our bus was ground to a halt a few times and one lady even had time to ge toff the bus, pee in the bushes and get back on again! And one chap gave up his seat for an older lady saying "I can stand!" just like the advert. He had us all laughing so hard. Some people got off the bus and walked back to their cars to go home. But it was worth taking the bus as we were dropped off at Gate 1 and didn't have to walk up the massive hill. MrK bought his red bands so is a happy chappy and we saw all sorts of interesting farm type stuff. Even saw the artist MrG spraying a ute. Would love to see his finished art work.

Housework for me today and maybe back to some knitting. Will see how the day goes.

Happy knitting :)

13622

Morning eveyone.

Lol Kiwimade at the "I Can Stand" Haha... Yeah that hill is a shocker eh, We walked it last time we went but there is no way we could do it now. Well MrP couldnt anyway.

Red Bands are still a very desirable brand of boots eh.. Not cheap either.

Yesterday my granddaughters mother had an appointment with the same surgeron that did our hernias, to have hers removed. And Garth the Surgeon shook Izzies hand as well, shes nearly 3.5, and then commented on her Red Bands which she seldom takes off lol.

Had a shocker of a nurse visit yesterday. I was sore and told her so 4 times but she sent me straight to the big pain meds. And said she didnt know anything aboout the wound vacc, so today is the day now. She obviously doesnt check things cos it was the nurses that requested we try the vacc.
Turns out she was at another persons place and was rough as guts with him too.
I hope one of the Sue's come today. The swelling has gone down and its not as sore as yesterday. But Im not fond of being doped up either.

So hopefully Ill be able to measure the pack and make some more bags. I suspect Im making them too big. So stopped until I know.

Was there any "Woolie" exhibits yesterday Kiwimade?

Have a fab day everyone

The Skellerup tent was packed with people buying red bands as they had an awesome special on to celebrate 60 years of red bands. MrK paid $70 for his pair and they threw in a pair of $15 socks. They are usually around $120. The gumboot tent around the corner had no one in it. I didn't see any 'woollie' exhibits :( Next time I go I won't go with MrK as he needed time to rest as his back was hurting... sigh... oh well. It was a good day out.

Morning everyone popeye I had a wound vac a year ago the battery pack is not that big from memory about 10cm x 10cm they take AAA batteries so not that thick either. they are marvelous I had it to finish off healing an ulser that took nearly two years and three lots of surgery to heal I call the scar my shark bite cause that's what it looks like.
Kiwimade I used to love going to the field days as well before hubby retired
he worked for an engineering firm here building farm machinery (Metalform)
I used to be the unpaid worker.
We finally have the sun out so I might be able to catch up on the washing
came back last week from a trip to Thailand and had a stop over in China on the way back.I took a ball of wool and my hook with me in my carry on and started a baby shawl to keep me occupied while in transit. on the final ten rounds today might get it finished tonight.
Have a great day everyone

Thanks Lindyloue..
I will now be able to make some more. As I thought the second one I made has ended up too roomy.

Still waiting on the nurses. Apparently there are two coming. So hopefully thats a good sign.

Yeah Kiwimade, Unless I went on my own it wouldnt be much fun with MrP either. Unless he had an electric wheelchair or scooter.

popeye333 - 2018-06-15 12:49:00
13626

Morning everyone

Yesterday didnt go as planned. Still no wound vacc and they dont think it would be strong enough to work now. One of the more senior nurses came with a younger one and she was going to talk to our GP and is going to refer me to The Plastic surgeons team. She had never seen the wound herself. But thinks it will need surgical intervention to close. Removal of stuff and being grafted or re stapled shut.
So it was once again a huge dissappointment for me. MrP has never been happy how it looks, so wasn't happy either.
Soo once again we wait.

Im not soo sore this morning so we are going to try and cut MrP's hair, hes starting to loook like Rapunzel lol... And Ill try and do something with his beard tomorrow lol.
Monday is 29 years since I moved in with him, alot more time than we ever dreamed of having together.

Hope everyones crafts are growing.. Im not yet focused on anything at the mo.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) That's not good popeye, I bet if you could you would be jumping up and down with frustration.

I am finding out more and more about my birth family, haven't had so many joyful tears for a very long time.

Traffic is still going by for the Field Days, today is the last day so I guess the 'townies' are going today.

Still knitting the first square, I am much happier for unpicking it. I'll take a pic of it when I've finished it and post it here.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, I had an interesting day yesterday. I was invited to lunch at one of the neighbours at her farm further north. I made a big pot of pumpkin soup on Thursday evening and then wondered how on earth I could safely transport it to the farm. I put it in a big glass mixing bowl, covered it in gladwrap and then put the plastic lid on it and it travelled just fine. It was fairly thick and quite tasty.

I took a friend and her daughter and then picked up another friend in Kerikeri. I was very good and was the sober driver, and it was quite interesting to watch as everyone else drank more and more wine and became more and more animated and noisy.

I fell asleep watching tv last night, went to bed and slept (apart from half an hour around 4am) until 10.15. I can't remember how long it is since I slept that late. Catching up on all those nights when I've only had a couple of hours sleep.

So I will have brunch, I think we are playing mah jong at the club this afternoon, but if not, I'll come home and tidy up.

This evening hopefully I will stay awake and do some knitting.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning Everyone.

Wow we had awesome thunder and lightening last night. Missy spent the whole time on my knee, a little frightened but she felt safe there I guess.

Eneded up going up the street twice yesterday. But painwise I was pretty good. Im pleased they warned me that a new dressing they used would stink.. OMG its disgusting. Im keeping a folded up towel over it to try and hide it. Ill be glad when it coomes off tomorrow. It somehow reacts with the body fluids but is good for it apparently. yuck.

MrP and I have been together 29 years today, by Day but tomorrow by Date. Which also means his eldest Grandson is 31 tomorrow... Had many many years that they never said he would live. So Im feeling very greatful.
Cooking a roast chicken today and we have a bottle of Sparkling grape juice we were given for Christmas that we will have tonight.

29 years ago we ate some mutton that MrP heated up in a very full of onions gravy and mashed tatty. I hate onions, but I ate tea, then told him the next day that was the first and last time I would eat that lol

When we arrived at his home we discovered he had left his near brand new wool jumper in the spinner part of a twin tub washing machine, spinning alll weekend while he was ok.. Lol It became oven cloths lol.

And the 3rd funny memory was he came in the next morning and asked me if I had noticed if the freezer was in the garage when we got home. I didnt know there was one meant to be in there lol.. His ex girlfriend had stolen it while he was in Mango visiting family and picking me up lol

Ill never forget that day lol.

Ohh Im rambling... Hope everyones crafting is going well... I found a pattern for a teddy done in chunky wool yesterday. Which of course I dont have so Im going to downscale the needles and do it in double knitting.. Its a good few years since I knitted but thought I might give it go

Have managed to do MrPs hair and beard... Am a bit sore but out of both of us I can bend better to use the dustpan than what MrP can do and shake it off with his parkinsons.. Was funny tho lol..
I wasnt keen on leaving it till our carer came, or it might have been trapsed all over the floor. and while his Silver grey would look nice on the charcoal carpet, it wouldnt be a good look lol

At least hes in the same country now Flick. Wonderful memories for you tho.
I am sooo ready to see the District nurses today. I hope I dont have to keep having this sort of dressing. Its absolutley disgusting. Ill have to cover my mouth and nose when they take it off. Its bad enugh now covered with clothes and a towel that Ive been spraying with air freshner. And even if its raining Ill be opening the windows.

Was having a nosey at the Hospital Departments last night. They have a wing for Complex Wound problems and plastic surgery. And thats at Middlemore so with luck I wont have to go all the way into Auckland. Its amazing what they do have that you seldom hear about unless you know someone needing different things.

Hope everyone has a fab day.

morning ladies :) Congratulations popeye and MrP :) Dad knicked his shin a while back and it became infected so the district nurse put manuka honey on it (the medicinal one). It healed within a few days after that, was just amazing. Have they thought of something like that for you popeye?

I've finished the first square and noticed I knitted a cable wrong in a couple of places. I'm not unpicking it, it can be my 'humility' square. I'm not sure about the colourway but MrK loves it so I'll stick with it. It will be lovely and soft when finished that's for sure. The yarn I'm using is the nicest acrylic I've knitted in a very long time. It has some mohair in it which helps.

happy knitting :)

Good morning all - loved going on your trip down memory lane with you Popeye - funny the little things you remember so well -
Have had all the family here this weekend - my husbands best friend and work colleague for umpteen years was hit by a car and killed last week - he only just retired in April - he used to take his old dog everyday through the park and sit on a bench while the old girl got its second wind and somebody decided to tell the local newspaper he was a homeless derelict who sat on the bench all day drinking - his family are understandably very upset as it couldn't be further from the truth - he has a lovely family and home! The paper have published a retraction thank goodness - feel sorry for the young girl driving the car the sun was in her eyes - there were 3 people on the crossing lucky only 1 was hit - he had a huge impact on our lives he gave my husband a promotion umpteen years ago that combined with my old boys hard work opened a Pandora's box for our family
What acrylic are you using kiwimade - a pattern popped up on a blog I visit every now and again that has tickled my fancy and might just get me going again
Well am off down the road to an old couple a few doors down - they are in their late 80s and are battling the DHB for incontinence supplies for her - it beggars belief that there would be any argument that she needs them - who would pretend to be incontinent and he is struggling with washing endkess towels and sheets - you can't buy the ones she needs from the supermarket and they can't afford to buy them online even if they knew how to shop online - I am going as her support person so will have to keep my cool

Wow Gerry that sucks. Im glad you are supporting the couple. And geeze you would think the news paper could ask questions before making assumptions.

Well I was on my way to get dressed this morning and my fave nurse rang, said she was just around the corner was it ok to come then.

She asked had anyone taken a swab,, no, so she did one.
She is going to wait for those results and send the info to the Complex wound section and the plastics section and hopefully that will have me seen alot faster.
She was also surprised that I hadnt been called back for a 6 week post opp check so is chasing that too. By contacting the surgeon himself not going through the system. She said she has done it before, gets a growling but it does get you in faster.
In her opinion she thinks the big part will need the stronger wound Vacc,, Which can be used at home, YAY... but thinks the smaller bit is worse and there are two fistulars that have come up. So it might need some intervention.
Her Hubby has 3 heart attacks, which is why she was away from work. But she want impressed with my level of care.. And apparently the one who passed herself as being a higher level in friday is no higher than anyone else.
Honestly Im going to need to write a book about all this.. nurse is very annoyed with how everything has happened.

There are some nice soft acrylics now Kiwimade. But with mohair it would be beautiful. I like mohair, but it doesnt like my sinuses.

Well that was enlightening and so frustrating - they are coping so well in their home except for just this one problem .I am beginning to wonder what is going on in this country of ours - she wanted evidence that the problem had existed for more than three months - I just burst out laughing - was he supposed to have photos of the sheets and towels they had been trying to use at night ! It was hopeless even trying to talk to her it was so bloody embarrassing for the couple I told her we would try another avenue.Have rung Winz if I order online what she needs and get an invoice and a receipt and get her GP to sign the form they will increase her pension to pay for it- so I have ordered from Nurse Maud in CHCH which was the cheapest online and the old couple will pay me cash every month - they don't have a credit card and no way would they put their bank account number online - I rang the woman back from the DHB and I wasn't rude but I asked her to consider her attitude - they are coping very well in their own home and I don't think it was too much to ask for help it wasn't only the cost of the supplies now it is winter he was struggling getting the sheets and towels dry not to mention the water and soap powder costs
Popeye you keep on at everybody to watch that wound

Good morning all - loved going on your trip down memory lane with you Popeye - funny the little things you remember so well -
Have had all the family here this weekend - my husbands best friend and work colleague for umpteen years was hit by a car and killed last week - he only just retired in April - he used to take his old dog everyday through the park and sit on a bench while the old girl got its second wind and
somebody decided to tell the local newspaper he was a homeless derelict who sat on the bench all day drinking - his family are understandably very upset as it couldn't be further from the truth - he has a lovely family and home!

Thank you sunflower - we can't now get them from the hospital as it is underway through Winz - but if the ones in your garage can't go back to the hospital and I picked them up for her would that be double dipping? Did you leave a message with my son - he obviously gave me the wrong number so was waiting to hear back from him - I am on Facebook

I have your number now sunflower if it isn't double dipping and I can take them off your hands so to speak - they are absolute sticklers for following procedures but if you can't use them seems silly

This is not double dipping I have a couple of friends who are carers who have picked up a pack because they waiting for their delivery. Also, I can give you details of who to contact here. It's not DHB who you contact.

Morning everyone

Wow Gerry thats soo dissappointing . I may not have been able to hold my tongue. And the temptation to tell the DHB lady that I hope she didnt end up needing the same help, would be too great for me.
In my opinion its not double dipping. The DHB made the mistake of sending the wrong size to Sunflowers, but once they are at her place they are hers to do what they wish with them.

I have decided I will be putting in a complaint, but I will wait till im a bit stronger. I wouldnt like the same to happen to anyone else.

Two podiatry, one lab and drs today.. I really hope my INR is back in the normal range.

MrP had a sheepish look on his face this morning.. Asking if he can have one of the nice home made mince pies for his dinner... So Im very pleased he loves them. and is looking forward to enjoying one. hes been a bit off his food lately.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) I've thrown out the label for the yarn Gerry, but need to buy more so will let you know what the brand is then. What a palava over your friend! It's disgraceful and embarrassing for her. I don't think it's double dipping at all accepting sunflowers kind offer. Sometimes you have to do whatever it takes and if they are no good for sunflower's husband, then it would be a waste for them not to be used.

We went to Rotorua yesterday and I had spotted a 'woolly' place a while ago but it has always been closed when we drove by. This time she was open so we called in. I was definitely in my happy place lol. Had a long natter to the lady about knitting and wool (poor MrK sat patiently in the car lol) and on the way home MrK wondered if she could sell a few niddy noddies on his behalf. So I've e mailed her to ask. You don't ask, you don't get!

I'm hoping to get outside today, I have a rose I've grown from a cutting that needs planting out and the edges around the concrete need a spade taken to them. And the leaves all need clearing away.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone,
A wet day here by the looks, no wind, its just comming straight down.

No real plans for the day althought when MrP gets up I want him to throw a couple of baskets of washing on the bed so I can put it away. Folded just not where it should be.

Nearly the shortest day and I feel like Ive missed some of winter with my mind being elsewhere.

Im still hankering for some knitting, but have decided I want to do something more colourfull so I might have to get a freind to dig my box of patterns out from under a bed. Not something I can do for sure.

Must take note if the roses have been pruned up here yet. I have rose hips but the silly things are still having a few flowers too. Daffodils and blue bells are up well too lol

Have a fab day everyone
