morning ladies :) We had torrential rain yesterday, but can't complain as at least we had no flooding and it was warm. The sun is trying hard now so hopefully I can get outside to plant the wildflower seeds I bought last spring.

Knitting later today I think.

Booties and a hat will finish off the baby set beautifully flick.

Happy knitting :)

morning ladies. All the best popeye, this is life changing stuff!

Another beautiful day so back out in the garden for me this morning then some knitting this afternoon. I gave away the booties and hat I knitted for the nieghbour's new baby to another friend yesterday so will need to knit another set. No biggie, it doesn't take long to do.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, hope it all goes well popeye. xox

A beautiful day here, I should be gardening this morning, but it's knit and natter and then the 'bunny club' lunch. I don't think I want to do much in the garden at the moment (although it needs doing) yesterday I was in agony with my neck/shoulder. I couldn't figure out why it was so sore, until I remembered that in the morning I had tried to move my big heavy settee and it wouldn't slide on the carpet, so I lifted it at one end. Didn't realise at the time that I'd hurt myself, but last night it was giving me hell, I could hardly move my head without searing pain. I used deep heat, a wheat bag and took some really strong painkillers, and more at bedtime and at 3am and today it is still tender but the excruciating pain has gone. Might see if I can book in for a massage for this afternoon or tomorrow. Time I treated myself.

Right I had better have some breakfast.

Have a super day everyone.

Good morning - have been in a black hole for a week or two -somebody I trusted stole off me and it really knocked me for a six but my Mum cane yesterday and gave me a good talking to - nothing like your 100 year old Mum giving you a good growling to get you cracking! Actually she is a tonic she doesn't realise how funny she is - she could do a comedy routine about being 100 and still having all your marbles - people invariably either shout at her - or talk to her like she is in la la land - she is a very clever mimic so it is hilarious
Hope Popeye is in recovery by now and all is well - poor old Mr P will be feeling very lonely

Haven't done anything creative have been too busy feeling sorry for myself!

morning ladies :) oh Gerry, I know how you feel (well kinda) Dad is going through something similar, it happened before he moved here but is still ongoing. It's absolutely gut wrenching. Your mum sounds a hoot lol, good on her for taking the mickey, I think I would too if that was me lol.

Lawns to mow today and an apple pie to bake from scratch.

I saw on FB popeye is recovering from her op so all good there as of yesterday afternoon.

morning ladies :) Yep, mndy1, I think there will be some pain for popeye for a while. Thank goodness for painkillers! That's a buggar about your meds though flick.

I'm off to lunch with friends today for my birthday so looking forward to that. It's also a few hours out of the house away from dad.

I knitted another pair of booties last evening for our nieghbour as I gave away the first pair to someone else. So I'll knit the beanie today and then I can give it all to her. Baby is due in 10 days or so.

My Love Knitting order arrived yesterday, 11 days after ordering. Not too shabby considering it came from England. I love the way they package the wool in those bags, they make lovely bags for gifts.

Happy knitting :)

Funny old day here - patch grey sky but not too cold might head out to the dog park in a bit
Thank you kiwimade and flick - on the mend now - my old boy was the supreme optimist and used to always make me dwelling the bright side !
Hope Mr P is coping without Popeye - he will be missing her no doubt
That certainly is good service from Love knitting - I received an email from them a couple of days ago with lovely little girls cardigans - I know I have some beautiful apricot wool somewhere - might get cracking

Afternoon ladies,

Happy birthday kiwimade!

Just home from a shopping trip to Kerikeri with a couple of friends, made a change that I didn't have to drive, then I helped one of them change the bed and vacuum the floor for her next door neighbour who is away but has guests coming in for bed and breakfast. I had to smile, here's me, who hates vacuuming (or anything remotely like housework) doing it unpaid for someone else!

Then we went to the neighbour the other side and had soup and bread rolls for lunch. Now I'm home and trying to decide what to do. Might dig a patch of garden so that when the sun goes down I can plant the seedlings that I bought this morning. Meantime I think I will sit and knit/crochet.

Have a super day everyone.

Afternoon Everyone
Happy Birthday Kiwimade.

Busy morning our car is overheating and no one can pinpoint what's wrong. Back in the workshop again today.
Have three appointments next week. Two check-ups at the hospital (Hastings) and dentist appointment.
It is overcast at present so hope you able to go for your walk gerry with your dog.

Very little happened on the knitting front at present. We have one untrained male staying with us at present. He moves on in about 10 days.I stopped cleaning up after him and have not gone into the room now for a few days. Will be asking his parents over when they return home.

Off to a couple of craft markets this w/end to have a look around, been sometime since I visited any markets.

Enjoy your afternoon ladies.

Afternoon ladies, haha kiwimade, I think they shoot the ducks rather than "catch" them!

I've had a lazy morning been finishing off a couple of wips then I decided I had better do something useful and have just planted 6 lettuce seedlings that I bought yesterday. I think one has already given up the ghost. The other five look healthy. The other seedlings can wait till tomorrow.

I'm about to have lunch then go to the club in the hope of playing mah jong but if the numbers don't work out right I'll come home and find something else to do. I'm never going to run out of things to do.

Have a super afternoon.

Isn't there a limit to their "bag" like there is for fishing? Don't know, just curious.

Well the weather thwarted my plans to go for a walk this morning. It was raining so my friend and I decided to wait 20 minutes to see if it cleared. Of course, it cleared in 10 minutes but by the time the 20 minutes was up - the time we had agreed to meet - it was raining again, and looked to be set in for the day, so we flagged it. Course it isn't raining now, but it looks like it could decide to at any tick of the clock, so no walk today. I don't like walking in the rain - I might shrink!

It has been decided that we will have a get-together to watch the Royal Wedding (any excuse) and we should dress appropriately and have "English-style" finger foods. Cucumber sandwiches were suggested but my friend said "won't they taste yuk?" I said "no, they taste of cucumber!" Have to laugh at some of my kiwi friends.

I am making progress on my latest puzzle animal - another elephant. I have done the two leg sections, the ears, and started on the trunk. Want to finish her by the weekend for the market on Sunday. Plan to do some this afternoon. Oh it is almost afternoon, and I had the morning put aside after the walk to do some housework. Oh well, too bad, how sad. I might have to skip the housework and just crochet instead! Just kidding. I will do some housework and put my seedlings in.

Have a super afternoon everyone.

there were five of them shooting kuaka so I'm pretty sure they were under any limit.

I'd love to watch the royal wedding but I suspect I'll be outvoted between MrK and dad.

I've been beavering away here on our grandson's cardy, am up to the sleeves now. Right-o, rugby is on Prime, time to settle down to watch snippets of this week's games.

I read on FB popeye is doing well :)

MrK has pulled a muscle in his back so it's off to physio this afternoon for him. He can hardly move so is on painkillers too. I'm still trying to talk him into going to the doctor too.

Good Morning Everyone. Good to hear Popeye is doing so well. Just hope everything goes well for her when she goes home.

A busy week for us. Mr S had his 6 week hip replacement checkup yesterday and all ok. Has to go back again in 6 weeks.
Off again to the hospital again today to another department. Wish it all could be done in one day.
Spend a lot of the weekend out in the gardens. Planted more spring bulbs around the section., Strawberry plants, Herbs and did some seed trays. Raked a heap of leaves off the lawns. This kept me busy.
Did a little bit of knitting and sewing.

It's lovely to see your lovely knitting on the child kiwimake.
Happy knitting.

morning ladies :) I haven't heard of kawakawa muscle rub flick, must look out for it. I use antiflamme, the one in the purple pot and it seems to help. Yoga though has been my best friend when it comes to my back.

I finished our grandson's cardy, will post a pic when I've sewn on the buttons. The other day I bought a couple of hot water bottles as when the power goes off over winter (as it does every year) you can bet your bottom dollar dad will moan and groan about being cold. We've warned him about it but he will still complain. So I'm using the left over wool from the cardy to make a hottie cover. If he needs the hottie when the power goes off we'll heat the water over the camp cooker.

I'm going to raid the feijoa hedge down the road today, the owners don't mind and I only take what's on the roadside.

Sunflowers, I hope all goes well at the hospital today. Sometimes we seem to spend forever there.

Happy knitting :)

I suspect I will be knitting this one again for my little great niece too.

Lawns to mow today and MrK has another physio appointment. The exercises he has to do are the same as what I do at Yin Yoga lol so I told him he should just come to the class with me. There are four men now practicing yoga in our class so he wouldn't be the only guy.

Morning everyone.

Its been lovely catching up with everyone, and welcome Home Gerry..

Happy Birthday late Kiwimade, glad you had a nice day.

Have I missed the royal wedding? Id dint even know when it was happening.

We have a yoga class group starting up here too..

Well its been a busy week.. It took 3 hours of work for the surgeons.. It looks like Ive taken a slide down a mandolin. I have corners on my tummy. Not all of it is gone but a fair chunk has.

There was a nig glicth that could have had distarous results, possible death/stroke and paralysis. But thankfully it all turned out ok. But they were trying to blame the student nurses, but I put everyone in no doubt that they were not at fault. They are doing an enquiry, to make sure it doesnt happen again. And the three toung ones all came and apologised, many tears but Ive made them promise me not to give up and to make sure they give their 100% to the job..

Home has been well taken care of. And even tho Missy ran away from me at first she has claimed me again. And we had a discussion and sorted out where she is sleeping. The little toad has finally put some weight on.. Yayay.

Had a "what the hell have I done" moment this morning. Just for a few seconds.. and then I told myself off. Ad that it will all be good once the healing is over, the same as my heart was.

Im doing something I seldom do today and thats staying in my nightie and dressing gown for the day.

Have a wonderful day everyone... and thank you for caring and the kind wishes.

Ohh Kiwimade thats a lovely cardy.. first thing I thought was a Nice Little Gentlemans cardy.. The colours and cables work well too.

13482

morning ladies :) thank you popeye.

I've started knitting a cardy for our granddaughter, the same brand yarn/wool mix but different colourway and it's knitting completely different with wider bands of colour.

Housework today, a trip into town and I'll try and fix dad's tablet for him. He's in a tizz because it won't go.

happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2018-05-11 08:04:00
13483

Morning everyone

Amazing how the same wool and I guess different sizing can change the layout of the colours isnt it.
Ohh dear Men and tizzys over electronics is not a good look.

I slept very well last night, so a little creaky when I first got up. The first 20-230 minutes of getting up are the worst. but after that its ok so long as I pace myself.

I have bad pictures in my mind. The chemist popped an info sheet in with my meds yesterday for a tablet laxative.. It says to let your Dr and Dentist know you are taking this medicine.. lol The Dentist aint working dow there hahahaha.

District nurse is comong in to change my dressings today. A friend is popping into new world for me and then we are sorted for the day.

Have a fab day everyone

Welcome home popeye, healing will take a while, but just relax and let your body heal itself and you will be fine.

The little cardy is gorgeous kiwimade, you must be happy with the result.

I'm pretty chuffed with the way this has turned out:

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/788508170.jpg

but I was rather amused at this bit in the pattern: "Now you are going to work the tentacles (or maybe have a glass of wine first?)" and then a bit further down it explains how to do the tentacles and then says "you are going to be VERY annoyed if you get to the last tentacle and realize you've missed a few of these stitches, so count carefully. Trust me, it's a PAIN to undo all the tentacles at this stage!!"

And no, I didn't have any trouble doing them, and no I didn't have a glass of wine - I thought that if I did, I would most likely be undoing tentacles!

Market tomorrow and Sunday because there is a country rock festival on in town, it is raining and the forecast is for rain, so that's a shame as there are usually groups singing and playing guitar on just about every street corner. Maybe if it's cold I'll sell some scarves and gloves.

Enjoy your afternoon everyone.

13485

Ohh he/she is cute Kuaka... Love the instructions, I guess if one got Too free with the wine you would end up in a mess lol.
Its lightly raining here..

Friend is coming to get me soon. The district nurse wasnt happy with one end of my wound, and combined with the weekend she suggested I went to triage at the med centre and get some anti-biotics, just to be sure, cos some of the stitches are coming out on monday.
Very thankfull my friend changed her job shift..

popeye333 - 2018-05-11 14:37:00
13486

morning ladies :) haha kuaka, I love the instructions! Obviously a voice of experience writing the pattern lol.

Good idea on the antibiotics popeye, better safe than sorry.

I'm still not happy with this yarn, it's the colourway I think. Not enough different colours in it to create that 'random' look and the blocks of colour are very wide. I'll persevere and keep going but won't buy this colourway again.

MrK and dad locked horns a bit last night (again)... sigh... they have to get over themselves and sort out their cr** as I'm not putting up with it.

A wet day today so I'll clean the kitchen down, blimmen fly dirt. Flies are still around as it's so warm. We need a decent frost to kill them all off.

Happy knitting :)

Afternoon everyone

Drs visit was hmm strange. He gave me some antibiotics but said if it was him he wouldnt take them..??? lol.

I am taking them and he also gave me some tramadol which although it makes me sleep it gets right through the night.

Was feeling quite good this morning, I slept on my back which helped the "Corners" lol.. the points at the ends of the wound.

So my friend took me to new world for things we needed. She made me use the wheelchair and Im glad she did cos although I may have made it arround, there were long waits as it was super busy. Got home sore but at least we have everything we need now.

So a nice quiet time this afternoon for us. MrP is binging on the Turbo channel lol

morning ladies :) What's the 48 Hour film competition flick?

I'm going stir crazy here with not being able to get outside so today I will do something outside regardless of the rain.

I put my knitting down yesterday as my fingers were getting pins and needles in them, haven't had that happen for a while now. And I've been loosing weight, have gone down a dress size with another almost there. I'm also back to biting my nails and I haven't done that for a couple of years now. MrK says it's stress from having dad living with us so I've decided I need to find stratagies to help me manage myself better. Not that I'm complaining about loosing the weight, I could afford to loose it. Anyhoo, enough moaning and groaning.

Happy Mothers Day ladies and happy knitting :)

Morning everyone, and Happy mothers days to the Mums

Yes Kiwimade take them as a warning. I know exactly what your going through... and I can tell you after having been to the drs and he wanted me to have two weeks away, once I told MrP and Mum they pulled their horns in and things were much better.
They have to know they are putting you in the middle. And that its not good for you ... I had a day out shopping and I refused to let them enter my head while I was out, other than buying MrP's christmas present that day.
The fright hopefully will work for them.

Is dad not going to Aussie this winter like he usually does?

I had a weird thing last night.. On my "corners" I had tried to sleep on the left side and I felt like a pop or burst. I assume there was a bubble of fluid and I managed to break it. Cos that corner isnt as firm as it had been lol.
Had a very sore back so took some codiene and went back to sleep, woke up at 9-15 lol.. Havent slept that late for ages lol.

No plans other than dishes, roll reversal lol.. I usually wash. But we will get them done together.
And I got a nice small piece of shoulder pork yesterday so will roast that later.

Have a fab day everyone

Yes, it's pretty gut wrenching flick. But the person involved will be prosecuted for it, believe me.

MrK gets to renew his driveers licence today, he passed the medical side of things. He can't drive trucks any more though and I suspect he is disapointed with that. I pointed out to him when on earth did he last drive a truck? It's the principle of the matter I suppose.

Baby steps popeye, it's not a race ya know lol.

I have half a sleeve to finish and the bands on this cardy, it's a raglan sleeve so I need the top of the sleeves for part of the bands. If it had set in sleeves I would be knitting the bands first before the sleeves. Just a quirk I have.

Happy knitting :)

Ohh Wow Kiwimade that Really sucks for your dad and the whole family really. But Im glad they will be prosecuted. Family or not these things cant go on unenforced. Being family makes it even worse tho.

Yep Baby steps. I felt I didnt do too much yesterday, in my head but I was very tired last night. So today Will be a very quiet one. The district nurse will be here to change the dressings and the lab for my bloods. Just not sure what time.
I did a fair bit of crochet in hospital but I just dont feel like it at the mo and resting my arms on the tummy doesnt help painwise either.

So a real lady of leisure for now

Not sure how much I’ll get done today, my back is now screaming about the amount I did over the weekend, so out with the kawakawa I think, I’ve also managed to injure my elbow, elbow versus camera tripod means tripod won.

Ouch Flick that would hurt.

Morning ladies, well after a thoroughly wet and soggy weekend I woke this morning to sunshine - great I thought - but now we have fog! Can't win.

I had a reasonable weekend at the craft market, sold more than I expected to given the miserable weather. Another one on 2nd June and then no more till August but not sure of the date yet.

Had to nip out from the market for a while to go to an Op Shop meeting yesterday and one of the ladies there asked me if I would work her shift this afternoon so I said I would. I'm actually quite liking being on the relieving list, I'm still involved but not committed to doing every week and if I'm asked to do a shift I can say yes or no.

Lots of comments on my octopus puzzle but I still have him. One lady wanted to buy him but only had a credit card and we do cash only. I don't think she wanted to use her credit card to withdraw cash at the ATM as she didn't come back. Never mind, he is cute. Someone will buy him sometime.

Right, time I had breakfast.

Have a super day everyone.

kuaka - 2018-05-14 10:11:00

Well the district nurse came, told me off for doing too much yesterday. But she did remove half the staples.

Its not easy trying to find the thin line between too much and too little. Cos if I sit and do nothing it will hurt standing up etc again.

Labtests have been, so thats all for the day.

Pity about the Octopus puzzle Kuaka. But yep someone will want him soon enough.

My friend looked at a huge tv cabinet at the recycle centre on her birthday last month, 26th. But she hadnt measured her tv. It was $15.
She went back up yesterday and yep it was still there, the tv would fit and it was down to $10.
So she was meant to have it for sure.

Have been writing recipes out this morning.

Its soo nice to have the lappy pulled further onto my lap now. No more leaning forward to use it. A lovely bonus from the surgery lol

Fine here now, so thats good..

A quick update on popeye before I race out the door, she is back in hospital as her wound has split open. I think it has something to do with taking every second staple out. Thinking of you popeye!

I finished the cardy last night and not overly fussed on it. I have to buy buttons as Murphy's Law once again says I don't have the right buttons. There is enough yarn left over to knit a cardy or jumper for my little great niece so I'll start that this evening.

Happy knitting :)
