1290 KGV1 donaldo My book says that..There is a variety of watermark on the KGV1 8d stamp, known as the "Defective watermark"... This occurred on a number of sheets, due to faulty manufacture..The fault caused portions of the sheets to be virtually without a watermark.

It's amazing how may people place items on here at exhorbitant reserve prices and then complain when you bring them back to reality.
It's also a 'pain' when you receive an item that's been described as "unhinged" or "in excellent condition" only to find the item is hinged, toned or creased and sometimes all three!
A little time spent on research
and examination before listing would pay big dividends!

re 1382. compensation for damaged stamps. "Real Aotearoa" in Christchurch replace damaged NZ stamps every day for philatelic customers. no questions asked, no pack drill, they will replace anything so long as they still have the stamps in stock.

Watermark detection What is the best way to check for watermarks? I have been told to put the stamps in water but am reluctant to do this in case it harms the stamps. I have spotted an electronic detector (Listing #: 221055920). Would this be worth investing in?

1346 & 1348 there seems to be a bit of interst online for those type of books, i think i would recommend selling separately, but im not an expert. good luck anyway! make sure you have good photos though!!!
