| Grizzly are you okay? Boy I am starting to get worried. How is the family? makerealbany - 2008-10-14 20:59:00 |
| Smartgirl I know you are busy I am bidding on your tiles. Want to start mosaics now that weather is warming up. Do you have that pink jersey on auction in the blue? makerealbany - 2008-10-14 21:01:00 |
| Okay Grizzly I just did a buy now for those cute sox of yours. Can I have two pairs in a blue or lemon. Either stripes or plain. Don't know what sex bubby is yet of couse but Midwife daughter had a scan today and everything is great. She is off to Malaysia with her family tomorrow for a month. There is no hurry to knit these grizzly so if you are flat out or sick or if someone in the family is not so good just take your time. makerealbany - 2008-10-14 21:14:00 |
| makereal, you dont have to bid to get us to talk to you. I have been busy and had lots of pain so have been feeling like s...t. Sorry, I just sold the blue jumper but still awaiting payment. I have been in a read threads from time to time but just havent got around to write anything. I just realised how long it had been and I hate it when no one is talking so I know how you must be feeling. Glad all is well with the baby etc. smartgirl - 2008-10-14 21:21:00 |
| Yes I agree Buying my auction is an extreme way of snapping me back into action. I'll let you know when the wee sox are on their way, makerealbany. Loved the emails about old people, smartgirl. Had a good laugh over breakfast at 11am this morning. Had a great lie in. Unfortunately I have got hubby's 'flu so our trip was cancelled. Couldn't take the risk of passing these bugs on. Hubby got his blood test results back and has Type 2 diabetes!!!! They are now testing me as well. We are definitely starting to feel our age so could really relate to those emails!! grizzly4 - 2008-10-15 11:41:00 |
| Yes grizzly, I know how you feel. Makereal is sure being extreme, one way to make sales I suppose. lol. I think she has more energy that both of us, I wonder if she will sell us her secret. smartgirl - 2008-10-15 12:02:00 |
| Ha got your attention though girls I have to have more tests on Friday including the Diabetes one grizzly. Yuk isn't it awful being not right. I hate fasting for the tests and the darn wait in between tests. I am going in at 7-30 then pop into daughters for an hour then down the road again for the 2nd then off for another hour until the last one. I was told I had to stay there and sit. I don't think so. I do not like knitting bootees and little sox and yours are a good price grizzly. makerealbany - 2008-10-15 20:06:00 |
| Smartgirl Is it your back? I am so used to mine giving me hell but I think I am shrinking. Dont laugh granddaughter is measuring me. She thinks I am. Did you have that scan? Because my blood sugars are so high I have been eating weighwatchers snacks etc. Salads until I look like a limp piece of lettuce and I am having dreams about pavlova and whipped cream. makerealbany - 2008-10-15 20:11:00 |
| I know that feeling! Hubby is really into changing his diet and MINE!!! Haven't had chocolate all week!!!!! Blood tests were Monday and haven't heard anything yet his came back in 24 hours so I guess there's not too much to worry about. I think I will have to have a wee stash in my desk drawer once I get back to work, haha. The cough is slowly moving on , I think but what a way to spend my holiday, eh? I've been doing a bit of knitting this week, finished a prem set for the shop and one pair of those sox for you, makerealbany. I've done them white & lemon stripes and thought white & blue stripes for the other pair. The stripes are more neutral than the solid blue. I owe you some postage back so it will be in the parcel. Also on the needles is a swing top and striped pant set which is a bit different. grizzly4 - 2008-10-17 10:21:00 |
| Had those tests today and then went and had a cup of tea and a scone. I was so hungry and that glucose tastes foul. My cupboards look so boring foodwise that is. I gave all my choc and goodies to the kids. Regret it now and then. Ha ha. If they have not contacted you they must be alright grizzly. My son and his partner have changed their diets and they have lost kilos and look like Mr and Mrs Hollywood. Ha ha.They are working out as well. He is 6ft 3 and now eats 5 meals a day. More food than he ever has but different food. Lots of meat, fish and veges with no snacks. Boring. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2008-10-17 19:23:00 |
| I like the idea of the stripped sox grizzly I am looking at new born knitting and at what Miss 9 months is wearing now what a difference? makerealbany - 2008-10-17 19:24:00 |
| Just had to have a bit of chocolate last night. I would've gone nuts otherwise. Cost us an extra $100 for a fortnights groceries by increasing the fruit & vege and reading labels on packets! I know what you mean about the fast changing sizes for babes. Baby B is now 4 months old. Started off in 00000 now having to buy 0 already. So cute though. I look forward to my Saturdays with him. grizzly4 - 2008-10-18 08:44:00 |
| Went down to Morrinsville yesterday Left at 6 am for a family reunion with my mother's mother's family. I knew we had a huge whanau but it is a lot bigger than I thought. I t was very cool and now I can fill in huge gaps of My Tainui Whakapapa. Looking at all the pictures of ancestors and relations on the walls of the Wharenui was really emotional. Mum was so happy and our newly reunited whanau had heaps of questions. Most of all they just wanted to hear Mum talk about their Aunties and Uncles and all the things they did when they were younger. When she mentioned a person someone knew there were lots of tears and hugs. I had to have a v on the way home. I was tired and needed a sugar rush. Had to stop for awhile because it was such an exciting day when I drove home alone I just relaxed too much. Next time we will take our children and grand children. makerealbany - 2008-10-19 19:36:00 |
| Smartgirl Well now I have to come and see you to pick up the tiles. Ha ha. We were busy mowing lawns today so had not been online since Friday. Visited a friend in Morrinsville haven't seen for 3 years. Knocked on her door at 8 and she got a big surprise. Knew she would be up. makerealbany - 2008-10-19 19:41:00 |
| You are a little speedster grizzly Read my feedback and thought "boy that girl is quick. Yes I love looking after my grandchildren too and watching their development. Little Taonga they are. Means treasures, special things, priceless. makerealbany - 2008-10-19 19:44:00 |
| Loved your message about catching up with family you haven't met, makerealbany. It's a bit overwhelming when hubby's family get's together, he is one of 9. Course that won't happen till the next funeral now that his Mum is gone. Not a close family at all! She had 28 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren when she passed. Not a bad contribution to the world's over population is it? grizzly4 - 2008-10-21 08:25:00 |
| My first hubby Rest his soul was one of 21 kids. When his family got together it was really overwhelming. He was Italian and a good Catholic so birth control was never warranted. I swear the first time I saw his brothers at Sydney Airport I thought I was in the middle of a Mafia movie. Happens I was not that far off the mark. Well you cannot choose your relations ha ha. makerealbany - 2008-10-21 20:09:00 |
| Thats so funny about the mafia, makerealbany. Those sox arrived pretty quick, I'm pleased you're pleased. Plans have all come together for us to visit my parents in Blenheim this weekend after everything falling through last week. I'm looking forward to it but it's one of those things with my family that they'll always have a go at me about something. So here's hoping I deal with it assertively (Which is always the plan before I get there!) grizzly4 - 2008-10-22 09:17:00 |
| You just assert yourself grizzly this weekend. I had the same probelm last weekend but as soon as one of my sisters started I nipped it in the bud and she never spoke to me for the rest of the day which was fabulous. ha ha. I hope you all have a lovely weekend together. The mafia story is true. They all wore suits and had raincoats over their arms in the middle of summer. They were lovely to me but they were gangsters, no doubt about that. makerealbany - 2008-10-23 13:58:00 |
| Just finished painting a cupboard Was trying to give it a distressed look which I achieved. Ha ha. Just have to put the sealer on the concrete floor. Start that tomorrow. Finished a knitted blanket for my no 1 daughter. Sewed 2 blankets for little miss to drag around. They are a soft velvet on one side and a satin on the other. My no 2 daughter bought the material and told me what she wanted. Need to check my glasses again I had difficulty threading the overlocker needles. Sigh. Have started another blanket for our next baby. Have heaps of wool to wind but too busy just yet. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2008-10-25 19:12:00 |

| Hi there jan.w1 I dabbled in ceramics years ago. Made quite a lot of items. Still use fancy dishes. Kids have ginger jars and supper dishes. Still use pie flan dishes as well. Did some outdoor things as well and grandchildren still have those. It was fun. Just finished sealing the lounge floor. One more coat to go and then the carpet. Yah. makerealbany - 2008-10-28 11:07:00 |
| Hi grizzly How was the weekend?. W makerealbany - 2008-10-28 11:09:00 |
| Lost most of that message sigh Had Daughter's FIL up for the weekend. He did heaps of jobs for us which was great. We all had a good weekend. Tests showed I have a rather nasty bug so am halfway through the treatment and starting to feel much better. makerealbany - 2008-10-28 11:17:00 |
| I am pleased you are feeling better, makeralbany. I don't think there is just a 'normal' cold for us to get any more! grizzly4 - 2008-10-29 08:46:00 |
| You have a beautiful soul grizzly You are a really nice caring person. How do we measure our worth? Others measure it for us. Close family and good friends know that. As for the rest of the population sometimes their measuring scales are broken, warped, downright awry or simply not working properly. We all have different boats we row sometimes it is easy and sometimes it is hard. That's is what makes us human. It would be boring if we were as perfect as others think they are. HA HA. Have a neat day my friend and have a bar of chocolate for me. makerealbany - 2008-10-29 14:40:00 |
| Thank you so much You must be an excellent counsellor, your friends and family are very lucky! I wouldn't trade my life for anything (despite the bank balance and the coughing) I feel very lucky having the family that hubby & I have created. Any one else who wants to be a part of what we have is very welcome and those that don't (like my parents) I feel sad for but I can't change them. grizzly4 - 2008-10-30 09:07:00 |
| makerealalbany... with you talking about "our different boats to row" had me reminded of my Grandmothers old saying (she would be well over 100 now if she were still alive)~ It was~ "Love many, Trust few, Always paddle your own Canoe"! lol :-) ixcelm8 - 2008-10-30 09:27:00 |
| I love that ixcelm8 Going to put that on the wall. How are you anyway? Flat out as usual? makerealbany - 2008-10-30 13:50:00 |
| Forgot to tell you grizzly I contacted Helicobacter pylori somehow and that is why I was as sick as a dog. Nearly finished the meds and then I can have a cup of coffee again or maybe a fizzy drink. I can actually eat food again without all the stomach pains. It is a nasty Bacteria that grows in the stomach. Heaps of acid is produced but I will say no more on that. Ha ha. That darn cough of yours is lingering isn't it? makerealbany - 2008-10-30 13:57:00 |
| smartgirl Have to take my Invalid son to Hamilton next wednesday so could rush in and pick up the tiles then if you prefer. However will be going down to Rotorua the following week. Staying with my sick friend for the night so could actually have a coffee, etc then. What do you think? makerealbany - 2008-10-30 14:00:00 |

| Hi there Zoesworld So glad you are feeling better. Yes Xmas is coming and I have so much to do. Don't know how to fit it all in. Ha ha. I have a low immune system too and it is not good at times. Still the sun is shining and the wind is blowing, the washing is drying and I have to go lay some more tiles in the doorway of my cottage. You have a great day and happy creating. makerealbany - 2008-11-01 10:27:00 |
| Makereal, I am busy this Wednesday but would really love to catch up the next week. Maybe we could both have a coffee with Zoe, and you wont be in such a rush. smartgirl - 2008-11-01 18:04:00 |
| Hi Zoe, I am sorry to hear you have been unwell. I am unable to visit this Wednesday as I have commitments but would love to catch up with you real soon. Take care. smartgirl - 2008-11-01 18:05:00 |
| Thats cool smartgirl Put half of the tiles down inside the front door. What a job. My knees are killing me. Ha ha. Rather tile walls. makerealbany - 2008-11-03 11:52:00 |
| How great is it to hear from Zoe!!!!! That sounds like a dreadful virus, makerealbany! As if there aren't enough to keep us running back to doctors. I'm going back again this morning to find out if there is a stronger version of the drugs I am on for this cough. Any one know of a natural remedy for allergies to cats? (And I don't mean getting rid of them!!). Hubby was back to surgeon for check up yesterday and it's now a total knee replacement we are looking at! We have to wait for ACC approval which will take a while so probably won't happen this year 'cos of xmas, theatres closing over xmas and surgeon's on holiday. ACC may not approve it either and I am worried if they don't whether that stops his half of our income, too. Yet another drama in the days of our lives... grizzly4 - 2008-11-04 08:54:00 |
| By golly grizzly You guys are being put through the mill lately. Have you googled natural remedies. I will ask around. My no 1 son had to go and stay at no 3 son's house to mind the cats whilst no 3 is at the Gold Coast for 10 days. He does not like to put his mates in the cattery. Ha ha. Both boys were moaning to me about all the cat fur around etc and they both sneeze like hell. Not 100 per cent yet but definitely feeling better. makerealbany - 2008-11-04 14:40:00 |
| Well they should boil us down and start again I am still having my knee strapped and now waiting to see a knee specialist. Grizzly you have had such a bad cough. You poor thing. smartgirl - 2008-11-04 16:02:00 |
| Welcome to the club smartgirl My leg has been strapped for two weeks. Bruising still appearing and it throbs like hell. Have been on painkillers every four hours but still manage to get things done. I am going to ask for an xray next time I am at the docs. Soft tissue should have healed by now. Although she did say to rest and stay off it. Lol. I ask you how can you? Unless you have a personal servant which I don't. Yes Next week will be better for me because I have to pick up someone to bring them up to Auckland and then on to Orewa. My no 1 girl and her family are back from their holiday in Malaysia and Thailand on Thursday. I have missed them all. makerealbany - 2008-11-04 17:21:00 |
| Great saying that, smartgirl on message a couple above. Had a good laugh. I don't know about doctors telling a woman to rest when unwell!! male doctor thinking we are at home just pottering? I had to clear another shelf in my pantry after my doctor's visit yesterday. I had 2 pharmacy bags to bring home. Embarrassing really. In case the worst happens with our income I'd better be more focused on the knitting, eh? I've been trying out new patterns but although very cute not very practical for this time of the year! grizzly4 - 2008-11-05 08:39:00 |
| What about some of those patterns in cotton grizzly. I have to pick up a bag of cotton I bought from nanadot on my way to Mums next week. After I spend a day in Hamilton and visit you smartgirl. I love that clearing out the shelf for more pharmacy stuff. My medicine cupboard looks like a mini chemist shop. Lol. Somethings though are a 3 month supply. Hope the new stuff works grizzly. makerealbany - 2008-11-05 18:56:00 |
| My cupboard looks the same. I feel like a real druggie when I leave the chemist. I have 2 weekly packs with 4 boxes per day and I do one up for the morning and one for the night, its great as I only have to do it every 28 days. Saves confusion too. Great for going away as they come out so I can take away just the amount I need. Hope you feel better soon grizzly. smartgirl - 2008-11-05 20:36:00 |
| I really don't see an end in sight to this coughing. grizzly4 - 2008-11-06 09:07:00 |
| Thanks for the money angel, smartgirl! I am wishing for ACC approved surgery not millions, haha. grizzly4 - 2008-11-07 09:41:00 |
| Well girls guess what? My no 1 son came over with my ex-son in law and my 2 eldest grandsons today and they put the carpet in my lounge of the cottage. Then they moved all the furniture in and all the boxes from the house. No 1 son supervized as he is the sick one. There are boxes all over the place but I am so pleased. I managed to grout the entrance tiles late last night when I arrived home after picking up my no1 daughter and her family from the airport. It was so neat to see them. I missed them them heaps. They brought me lovely pressies from Malaysia and Thailand. I am very spoilt. No 3 son is due back from his holiday in Aussi on Wed but no 2 daughter can pick him and his family up. I am having a sorting out of boxes this week before I go away. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2008-11-08 21:36:00 |
| Babysitting my 10 month old granddaughter tonight Whilst her Mummy has her first night out in 20 months. She crawls everywhere now, walks around the house holding on to things and just loves being towed around in the big washing basket. She chats nonstop and is a very independant little miss. Have looked at the elections on and off tonight trying to finish another blanket. No 1 girl was surprized at all the things I had for her 4th child. J her youngest is 13 so it has been awhile and of course she had given away all her baby clothes years ago before she went to live in Aussi. This is her second marriage and her Hubbies first child much to his parents delight. makerealbany - 2008-11-08 21:45:00 |
| I love collecting up wee things for a new baby. Very satisfying. Had baby B here as usual yesterday and then his mum joined us when she finished work. A lovely day. Even helped hubby create a planter of herbs in the morning. This is all to do with his passion for cooking new recipes. I come home to wonderful meals in the evening and he has lost approx 4 kgs in the 4 weeks. grizzly4 - 2008-11-09 09:48:00 |
| Just a 3 day week for me this week! It is Canterbury's anniversary this week so Friday is a holiday and I am taking Wednesday off as it is my birthday ane we are going to the A&P show. Keep your fingers crossed that the weather stays nice. Any one got any hot tips for the cup tomorrow? grizzly4 - 2008-11-10 08:20:00 |
| Wow grizzly Send hubby over here. Need a cook that helps you lose weight. I have not even got my vege garden sorted yet. Have herbs growing in pots and in the flower gardens though. Still unpacking boxes and found a heap of baby linen so that was a bonus. Found a box full of smellies the kids had given me over the years so do not need to buy anything for awhile. I did pack these boxes 2 and a half years ago. A box of ribbons and laces appeared and I have 6 more boxes to go. Have to try and offload some more stuff to kids as I will not have the room or if they don't want it might sell it on TM. Need a shed now. Next thing on the list. makerealbany - 2008-11-10 13:10:00 |
